I ordered over the phone and had not finished my order when I was rudely hung up on!!!! I would never ever do that to a customer ever and I have my own business!!! When I went in to retrieve my order I checked them on the rudeness!!! Never received an apology or anything!!! Discount nothing!!! I got oh well were busy!!! First of all your 3 hours from closing time!!! So why dont you have food and limited to what you have???? Also your one of 2 maybe 3 Jamaican food places open on a Sunday!!! On the East side!!! Do your research!!! Second you should be more courteous to those who know good Jamaican food!!! My suggestion go to Dutch Pot on Norton st. More for your dollar and better food and service!!!! Just saying!!!!
The price for oxtail dinner is insane considering you get a very small portion of oxtail, plantains, and dumplings. The meal is mostly rice and beans with a side of cabbage. Very disappointed and definitely would not recommend this place. Sorry just being completely honest and the quality of the oxtail was horrible; dry, no meat and very tough.
Fantastic food. We had the jerk chicken and the oxtail. Portions are generous but not too large. Very nicely seasoned and tasty!Their one high chair is really cute and my toddler stayed seated longer than in the usual ones you see at other restaurants. The decor and music are great. We went at lunchtime and almost all of the tables were bathed in sunlight. We parked at the East End Garage (currently still free on weekends) thats diagonally across the street.
Such an awesome spot. Well be back again and again. Food was perfect!! Healthy portions that I gladly polished off:)Prompt and friendly service, calm relaxing atmosphere, very nicely decorated setting.I was looking for a nice sit down Jamaican spot to take my mom who is here visiting from Ghana. This place was perfect.Must visit!
The food was delicious. Wished the water was not room temperature, but overall the dining experience was pleasant. Will be back.I have since been back many times and I looooove the food and the atmosphere. The food is always tender, well seasoned and the ladies are such a joy to speak. You must patronize, best Caribbean food hands down! P.S d water sweet!!!
Peppa Pot is the place to experience the authentic taste of the Caribbean. You are greeted by the charming and sincere smiles of the owner and staff who are always pleasant and welcoming. The entree’s and homemade juice blends whisk you away to experience the creative culinary masterpiece of your favorite island experience. On average, I pickup a takeout order 2-3 times a week.
A taste of authentic Jamaican cuisine you have to try! The food and service are fantastic. You are immediately greeted by the aroma of classic spices, curries and stews. If youre not an adventurous eater try the beef patty and jerk chicken. The patty is full of flavorful meat with a light flaky crust. The jerk chicken falls off the bone and comes in a delicious sauce. Their oxtail, cabbage and Callaloo greens are wonderful! The staff was very friendly and extremely humble as we sung our praises. They invited us back and explained the storm had affected some of their shipments. They certainly did not miss a beat! The restaurant was busy. Definitely a perfect place to enjoy a comforting meal on a cold winters day!
Visited Peppa Pot on a Sunday at noon. They had just opened so we were the first customers of the day. The owner was very welcoming and immediately welcomed us in. The place looked clean and the food smelled delicious. This is a counter-service, very casual place where you walk up and order your food and it gets brought out to you. There was a good variety of options, including several types of chicken, goat, ox-tail, and seafood dishes, vegetables, plain white rice and red beans and rice. The food looked fresh and hot.We ordered curried goat stew and curried chicken stew, with the red beans and rice and vegetables. The food was fantastic, with super tender, well seasoned meats that fell of the bone. And the food was hot, steaming when it got to our table. The broth in the stew was very robust, loaded with deep flavors that just hit the spot, made you feel warm and fuzzy inside. The owner was always attentive and checked on us frequently. We are definitely planning on going back to sample other dishes!
Such an awesome spot. Well be back again and again. Food was perfect!! Healthy portions that I gladly polished off:)Prompt and friendly service, calm relaxing atmosphere, very nicely decorated setting.Yaassss! The dumplins to die for. My husband went passed it downtown and said we had to stop in. Great food! Great people! Loved it.
The Jerk chicken was excellent - flavorful and juicy with the perfect amount of spice for me. My girlfriend had the oxtail, which was rich and savory. The portions were huge and well-worth the price ($8-10, if I remember correctly). The storefront isnt much to look at, but the food more than makes up for it. It was a little quiet when we visited... hopefully Peppa Pot can continue attracting customers!
This is the best Jamaican food Ive ever tasted. I ordered curried goat, rice and peas with cabbage and plaintain. It was so delicious that I went back that evening and bought brown stew chicken with the same. The food was fresh and exquisite. The restaurant was clean and in a nice area. I cant wait to go back. I was sad theyre not open on Mondays; however, everyone needs rest. I will let all my friends know about Peppa Pot. I like the name also.
I came from NJ/NYC, and I am a Jamaican. I am not impressed with the quality of food. After eating their food, it made me wondering if they are TRUE Jamaicans. If you havent tasted authentic Jamaican food, then I wouldnt stop you from checking it out. However, if you know the REAL, tasty food, then dont bother.
Was a recommendation from a friend, Best recommendation ever!! If you want authentic Jamaican Cusine, Go here!!! Affordable, Clean, Casual and Comforting Aura! Great Customer Service. I can’t have Carbs, They were able to accommodate my diet as well as many other options! In the heart of downtown, You can’t go wrong!!
Three of the 3 times Ive went, I have been disappointed. Twice they ran out of oxtails, and the third time I ordered over the phone and once I got there they said that they had sold my oxtail dinner to someone else. I wont be going there anymore. No respect for the customers.
Not only was the food great, I came from out of town and was planning on going to this restaurant. As soon as I checked in my hotel I went the directions and headed over there. When I arrived I was saddened to learn they not only were the closed (even though the website said they were open),they also ran out of most of their food and didnt have what I wanted. After telling the young lady I was out of town and had been planning on visiting the place and how far my hotel was she made a phone call. This is when I found out they had another location. She confirmed that they had what I wanted and wrote down the address. She didnt have to go out of her way but she did. And I greatly appreciated it. And will definitely return everytime Im in town.
We arrived at Peppa Pot late afternoon the Saturday before Easter. She was extremely apologetic, but sold out of almost everything. Jamaican food is mostly slow cooked over long periods of time. So once something is gone for the day, theres no running to the back to make some more. That said she did dish us up what was left of the ox tails and rice with collard greens that put mine to shame and steamed cabbage. There were four of us (3 teenagers) needless to say it wasnt pretty watching us dive in. All you could hear were grunts and moans of pleasure as the perfectly seasoned and spiced oxtails melted in our mouth. She was generous with the stock from the oxtails on our rice and it was a scramble as everyone tried to scoop up the last few grains. I would highly recommend this place, but go early or even better Call Ahead!
Great Food!!! Im so excited this place is here! I ordered Jerk Chicken (very tender - flavorful and spicy!)... and Ox Tail (how could I not?!) It came with rice & peas( beans) - some cabbage w/ other vegies, a fried dumpling (OMG! excellent!)..The whole meal was wonderful!... Ill definately be going back!only problem I can see - is no parking. otherwise - if youre wanting REAL Jamaican food - give this a go - its amazing!
I ordered a large curry goat rice and peas cabbage dumplings plantains the goat was very good fresh the sauce was amazing I also ordered the jerk chicken They could put a lot more love into jerk chicken I never had jerk chicken from a Jamaican restaurant that they bake the chicken they have to put more love into the jerk chicken and taste like baked chicken no flavor whatsoever very disappointed

2022-07-09Sincerely on the fence about the place! Seems they are the champ in the neighborhood…..but I’m sure the food could be better. Maybe I got the left over…..!!! The lady that sold my food was actually nice. Will give them another trial. Stay tuned!

2022-05-31I love this restaurant. Their food are great but I dont think I can support this place anymore with a high price increase. Up to 25% increase which makes it unaffordable anymore. The current CPI inflation is only 7% so not sure why they increased it over three times than the inflation cost. Why dont they at least absorb half of the lost and another half by increasing the cost? So both seller and buyers will take the lost equally. At least 5% to 10% increase would make sense. Not 25%.Putting all lost to customers plus a super high unnecessary increase will just push them away from coming back.Well, I guess I will not be able to taste their great food anymore :( And I wish them the best. Hopefully that will stay open until I can afford to buy their meal again in the future.

2022-03-03We used Peppa Pot to provide lunch for folks attending a networking event. The owner, Marlene, was incredibly helpful throughout the entire process. She took the extra step and added our attendees names to each boxed lunch, which made distributing the lunches a breeze. The food was incredible and everyone enjoyed it - and it was all at a great price point. If you are looking for a solo meal or looking to have your event catered, Peppa Pot will have you covered!

2019-05-17Im very stingy with my 5 star reviews for food, but this place was outstanding. The food was tremendously seasoned, nicely portioned, and everything on the plate complemented everything else. The staff was friendly and checked in frequently. Really outstanding and an easy walk for folks like me that work right down town. Certainly coming back again!

2019-03-16This is our first time at this restaurant and I have to be honest. Ive tried many Jamaican restaurants and this one is not at the top of the list. The cabbage has no seasoning and mushroom/baby corn ugh. The plantain and dumpling were dry and the jerk chicken wasnt really jerk. Now I hate to write a bad review but like I said I have to be honest. The ackee and saltfish was good.

2022-03-04Of course the food is good. But the young women that serve the food always seem to look so mean and tired. Customer service needs to be improved.

2018-12-17UPDATE FROM 5 TO 2 STARS: RAN OUT OF GOAT, BEEF AND OX TAIL.... Really❓ Chicken is pretty much the only thing available, for the price as tasty as it is, definitely NOT worth it... So sad, was a definite 5 out of 5... Now not worth it...Outstanding! The proprietor Marlene is personable and extremely polite! The peppa steak was so tender and scrumptious! Music was great even if you dont understand the language. Gives a more authentic feel. Bravo! Oh, and the Ginger Beer (non-alcoholic) is phenomenal! The quantity AND quality of the food was beyond expectations! For an average person a $13 peppa steak dish can be split in half to be consumed for 2 separate meals. However, being the gluttonous pig that I am, I simply couldnt resist inhaling the large peppa steak dish including the rice, beans, and sides....
