My wife went to four different stores LOOKING for some reasonable cat food for my finicky cats. could not find much of anything. So I decided to try Petco. There l found a dry cat food that is excellent for urine crystals at a great price without a prescription. I SAVED MONEY TWICE ON THE NO PRESCRIPTION, PLUS LOW PRICE.
Its unfortunate that everytime I come to the store the prices seem to increase quicker than I expected..particularly the worlds best litter the last time I was in the store it was around $28 this time it was around $35 and thats only on one item. That was only about 3 weeks ago to much of an increase in such a short time.
If youre trying to buy fish from this particular petco - dont. They dont treat the fish well and you can easily find that most, if not all of their tanks are full of dead fish. They dont even take the dead fish out frequently either. For other stuff such as fish food, tanks, plants, and everything else - it seems fine. If you want to buy quality fish, go to the aquarium at 63rd st and bayparkway.
Super premium dog food [specifically the brands that are made in the USA with ingredients sourced from the USA (Canada and New Zealand are great too)] is the only quality of dog food that have been feeding my dog since the day i brought him home (15 years ago). Petco has quite a large variety of dog food brands (which is important because I never stick with just one brand or protein source), which offer an abundant variety of flavors and nutrients to keep him excited about each new bag of food. They also have a large selection of flea and tick sprays and topicals, tons of toys, many things for him to wear (since he loves dog clothes), and an incredible amount of collars and leashes to choose from. The staff are always friendly. I always find what Im looking for at Petco.
Good pet store, but sometimes they dont have my guinea pigs favorite food or big size of hay package. Also in this area (where are small animal food located) they used to train dogs and that was SMELLY!!! Even now. when they relocated the dogs corner that is still smelling!
Very impressed with the helpfulness of the staff with the manager Brittany in particular. She helped me out with my first 20 gallon long fish tank and I was so impressed, I went back and spent another $100 on fish, business that I could have easily taken elsewhere, but because to her expertise and EQ I am totally coming back to this one. Also all the other staff at this location is very friendly as well, especially the ones helping out at the aquariums. Everything in this picture is from petco, even the stand. As long as petco does not come out in support of right wingers, they will continue to have my business
The staff was really helpful, which was great. The store seems pretty organized, too. What I didnt like, though, was that the aisles where they had hamsters, mice, lizards, etc. didnt smell that great, and there was poop in some of the animals cages. I believe there could be a higher level of care provided to the live animals if the managment would prioritize it.
The employees are very nice and are always very very helpful. They have a good amount of pet food options. Although they don’t usually have a good stock on other pet essentials. The Vetco in there has good veterinarians as well and they worked fast and well with my pet. 👍🏻👍🏻
Little to no aquarium inventory. Purchased a 20 gal high acrylic tank. The sales rep/cashier warned me that it was cheap and that custom/glass tanks were more reliable. True but I purchased it anyway only to find out that there werent any glass lids in stock, nor ights for the size tank i purchased. Theres ample parking though and Im sure stock for your more traditional pet needs like dogs and cats
The store is so dark inside and depressing look when you enter it you need better lighting. And the pets there need more attention. I love going to petco in Shepshadbay or on Utica Ave thats the 2 best petcos and very good people work there very friendly and always helpful.
The low stock from the pandemic is starting to be replenished. This location always seems to have a healthy looking collection of small animals/fish, much better than other chain stores I have seen.I typically visit for feeder insects and it’s a good idea to call ahead to make sure you’ll be able to find what you need as they tend to go fast!
Petco has your basic needs. If youre looking for specific things, your best bet is to use their website, which they sometimes have good deals on. I didnt have good luck with any of the fish I bought there, but some of my favorite fish came from here. What can I say? Its a chain store, and if I need some emergency basic items, they would have it. 🤷🏻♀️
This Petco store location at Bensenhurst has bad customer service very disappointed when accross town to this store because i had made a grommingappointment when i got there after waiting 39 min they tell me there is no gromming only on fridays..i had to drve back home with out my pet being attended to because was no one there to do it.
I purchased a collar tag with Petco band aqua fish bones collar. I love it and my cat who has not worn a collar before, doesn’t seem bothered by the collar or tag. The tag rests snugly on the collar and curves with the band to fit properly against my cat’s neck. The engraving is deep, clear, and very readable. Made of solid materials.
Terrible customer service. Curly haired dude with glasses at the register was more interested in flirting with a girl who was obviously uncomfortable than moving the line along and checking people out in the ever growing line. i was trying to buy temperature sensitive items and by the time i got out they were already beginning to thaw. Never coming here again if this is the service i can expect.
I love Petco in particular because the employees genuinely care about the animals and fish you sell. They give advice and ask questions. For example I went to buy my first aquarium. The girl that took care of me also took care of the fish I purchased. I left the store with everything I needed to set up my aquarium. It was a great experience
A great place for my last minute pet needs or for a stroll with my pet. I’ve come here for Vetco on Tuesdays in the evenings and to purchase merchandise. They don’t always have everything in stock but for the most part they are pretty reliable. The workers are friendly and it seems that they hire people who genuinely are pet lovers which I appreciate. It’s spacious inside and they are great for having a parking lot and being near all forms of public transportation.
I don’t know why there is a HUGE dog section and the cat section is next to nil. To make matters worse, it faces a wall in the back of the store, and you’d never know where it is unless you asked an employee. Even with the checkout section! 90% of the products are for dogs as well. It almost seems like cats are an afterthought in this particular store.
Love this Petco especially Yelsy. She is the best employee and most helpful. She is currently training our pup and is the most patient trainer. All employees and the manager are helpful and go out of their way to help you answer any questions you may have. Petco is my favorite spot to visit after getting a pet! I would recommend Yelsy as a trainer!
Extremely dissatisfied with their customer service. The cashier tried to charge me $15 to exchange a dog jacket (same design, different size). He refused to acknowledge the online promotion from when I had made the purchase online and manually went into their system to change the price to reflect their in store price. This is the second issue Ive had with Petco in the past month. I will never come back again. Good job pushing customers to other pet brands.
Usually I love this place and everyone is so nice and helpful but the last few times I went there iv had bad experience there is this blond hesitant older lady with tattoos that has this disgusting attitude that makes me think I am not even going to shop there anymore she shouldnt be working there has no customer service skills
Seconds after i came in, i was served with the items that i needed by a representative. Him and I had a great conversation as he brought my items to the register for me to check out. I was assisted in a timely manner by very friendly employees that love working with animals.
The petco experience is always good. The staff is pleasant and knowledgeable and the store is clean and well run. The only issue that I consistently run into is that there are many items that are out of stock on a regular basis, as evidenced by the empty shelves. I generally shop there on Saturday mornings. I do not believe that this has to do with the curent pandemic as I faced the same problem prior to the pandemic.
I own a dog and three fish and they always have everything that I need their its been a little rough due to covid-19 I feel like people are just home or these days and buying things so I noticed a shelves maybe a little bit more emptier than they normally would be but other than that the people that work there are very friendly helpful and like I said for the most part I find what Im looking for and if not I order it on petco.com
If you think of buying pet supplies just go to this petco! The staff are really kind and helpful! My cat had a little spill and I had no napkins or towels on me so the staff stayed calm and came and cleaned my cats spill and stayed there smiling with no anger or discomfort! I really love this place and I beg to go here! Please when you think of buying pet supplies, just go to this amazing petco with helpful and kind staff! I love this place!!
This Petco is near where I live, and the parking lot makes it very convenient. There bird supply is a bit lacking but thats normal for any pet shop, Ive found. The website did say there was a certain item available but when I visited it was not up in display. So convenience is the main reason for my scores.
Do not take your pet here or to any petco if you value their life. Their “groomer” Kristen basically killed a yorkie named Chewy and the entire store is trying to cover it up and not take responsibility for it. She did not even apologize for the dog dying within minutes under her care. DO NOT GO HERE
Another Petco location that Im very happy with!!! Definitely well stocked with a wide variety of products for various types of pets not just cats and dogs, they cater to All babies!! With a very knowledgeable, pleasant and helpful staff what can I say besides go give them visit, I know Ill be going back!!
They have a nice size parking lot which is always convenient, the store is pretty big and they have a huge selection of products not to mention the gorgeous parakeet setting they have.I also love that they have scented poop bags for your dogs in case they have an accident when you bring them in and paper towels for the customer as well..Generally nice store and my furbaby is welcomed inside which is a big plus!!!. We are bringing our baby back for vaccinations..
Bought some fish. The person who helped us was great until we got to the cashier. She just wasnt friendly and didnt believe us when we told her how many was in the bag and proceeded to count the fish inside the bag making a fool out of herself because she couldnt keep up with the fish swimming around the bag; so she decided to estimate the count by saying...about 20....lol..when we already told her it was 15 so the person who helped us confirmed the count and the price of each fish and was glad to just get of there.
Horrible experience there for grooming my dog!!! First they postponed my appointment for the following day; when I went there they told me that there wasnt a groomer for another hour! Person who appeared to be the MOD seemed to wish that I wasnt even there! First they told me that it wasnt possible that I had an appointment but upon checking they realized that I was correct! No apologies were offered! I had to take time off from work to get to this appointment and it was nothing but a disappointment!
I just adopted a newborn kitten and decided to swing by this Petco location for some start up essentials. The staff members I encountered were extremely attentive, kind, patient, and knowledgeable. A lot of the stress I had regarding first time kitten ownership was alleviated in this location. I am very thankful for all the help and tips I received!
Whatever you do, do not buy fish from this 86 street Petco. They are not taken care of and if you pay attention you will find a lot of dead ones among them in the store. I have purchased a few shrimp from here and they gave my aquarium a disease and all my fish died the next day. Stay away!!!
The groomer Kristen murdered a yorkie named Chewy during the first 15 minutes of grooming appointment and the store has no response pertaining to how he passed ; and has told the dogs owner not to contact the store or any representative inside the store . Shameful I’d never waste my money here.
They NEVER have anything there and theres NEVER anyone to help you in the floor.I waited 30 mins for someone to help me get wee wee pads off the top shelf. I’m 5 ft tall. I had to ask a customer to reach it for me. There’s NEVER Bully treats and there pot holes so deep out in the parking lot I pray that I don’t get a flat. Eventually one day someone is gonna get hurt and break a bone because they are deep! And they took away the cookie treats cart 6 months ago and they said it’s coming back. When? The year 3,001. If I could give this place a MINUS STAR I would.
I came to the store to buy fish, filters and various accessories for the aquarium. First I waited until the salesman in the fish department was free, then he left, and I waited for him to come. Then this salesman came with another one and left. Another salesman has no knowledge required to this department and when we started to choose the fish, he left me and began to serve another customer. In this time one of the fish was chosen before jumped out of the can and fell to the floor. the salesman took it with his hand and put it back in the can. I not bought nothing and I left the store. It was waste of time and bad unprofessional service. .
I am really disappointed as of late. I have been coming on a weekly basis looking for superworms for my tarantula, and, each week has been the same. Last week two staff members seemed really frustrated with me pointing out that it has been weeks since they have had them in stock. I wasnt rude. My spider needs to eat, and this is the only place I can find them since the Petland closed by my home. This is ridiculous. The staff, with the exception of the very overwelmed young lady today who was very polite, and expressed her apologies, and that she would relay the message to her managers, have been indifferent, and aloof.Not good, Petco. Youre undrstaffed, and have a limited selection.
Months ago I went to petco and bought what I was told was goldfish. But in reality are minnows. Than when I go back yesterday to try and buy a snail . No one would help. The kid there said he will help me when he finshed help another customer. So I wait for a long time. And walk around the store to find the worker. And he is now on the register. So he completely did not care to get me my product. And 2 other workers was no where to be found. . Really bad customer service
Ok so I always find what I need for myDog there which is very good. Aside from that, I have met only two people who work there who are geniunely good and help you. Most of the people are rude and when you ask for help they will send you to figure it out on your own. I had to groom my dog and wait almost 3 hours and had to sat down by their display table and I was told to move away in a very disrespectful way. Cashier was looking at me as if I was some strange alien standing there. Absolutely disrespectful. Not sure if I will come back again. Not recommended
It was and always is a great place to go to for me and my puppy, the people that work there r pleasant & so helpful keep up the good work Petco.the shelves are always stocked & I never seem employees with their hands in their pockets, come 2 think of it the employees seem to like working there , by their attitude..good bye
Took our newly adopted pup for a grooming session and had an absolutely wonderful experience. Tabatha helped us with the grooming and she was so sweet and loving toward our dog. She helped us identify which treatments he would benefit from and made us feel at ease when we handed over his leash for the first time. Highly recommended for a grooming - we already have our next appointment booked with Tabatha!
The people who work here dont know anything when u ask them a question. Their miserable, & dont know how to be polite. Why work there??? Give your job to someone else who really needs it. This place is always messy, especially where they keep the crickets, it always smells. They need to be on top of their cleaning. Sunsetpark petco is 10x better. I rather go there.
I rescued a dog from a shelter and went to the Bensonhurst location for needed supplies. Dory went above and beyond to not only help me find the best food and necessities. She also educated me on various types of foods, treats, toys, and outdoor gear that will help me better connect with my new pup. She is the only reason I joined the Pals Rewards program and taught me short cuts on the Petco app for better shopping. I will be returning.
This place has a parking lot with more pot holes than the entire Brooklyn & Queens combined! Why pet-co with all their corporate money and greed cant splurge like what, a few hundred dollars? To repair this issue. My family just had their driveway repaved. This isnt like a complete remodeling?! I just think its insane.
I like the hours of operation for the Petco stores in comparison to PetSmart. They offer the same items as other Petco stores, if youve ever been in one.Im giving an extra 🌟 because of the wonderful staff; theyre helpful and can be found all around the store and will ask if you are finding everything. Also the staff is the happiest group of people I have seen.This location is in Bensonhurst.
I made an appointment to get my dog groomed and was told that although my appointment was at 2:15 that he would be done for another 3 hours and would be crated. I made it clear that he couldnt be confined and would hurt himself to get out. Their alternative was to leash him in the room with the groomer. Seeing no other way to get it done, I said okay. Then I was told that because he got his shots that same day, that they wouldnt take him at all - that the vaccinations needed to be in his system for 48 hours. This is a complete and utter lie. Every other groomer I have ever been to NEVER had the ridiculous restriction. Some even have vets on site to give shots to animals who need them before getting groomed. Their website says nothing about this at all. I will NEVER, EVER come back here.

They did not want to beat prices after they said they would. Food is .50 cents more a can ( Applaws cat food nost expensive cat food on shelf by the way) which for me is a $30 savings times 2 cats is $60. So I will no longer be shopping there nor online anymore unfortunately. With saving I get my organic cat litter practically free. 28 pound bag is $31.00. Sorry, not sorry.
I bought a background for my 55 gallon fish tank. I told the person who was cutting it to make sure he cuts a little more than the 4 feet to make sure I have enough room to play with when I put it on my fisk tank. So he claimed he cut it long enough and charged me $24. When I got home it was short and cut crooked. I also bought a container of mealworms. When I opened it to feed my geckos there was only one worm in the container.
I just left pet Co location on 86th street Brooklyn and online hours are stated that store closes at 10pm. The employee refused to let me and another person enter the store meanwhile it was only 9:20pm. She claimed she asked the manager and the response was also no because they had closed the register. She said that the store hours were not updated online and they are not posted on entrance door either. As a courtesy staff or manager should have let me make my purchase. Very disappointed! If I could put 0 stars I would.
I enjoy coming here the products cost a lot more but the quality of food for Blue products are a healthy choice for my Tellie- Some staff are nicer than others in communication skills but I enjoy getting my things here to buy or though the cats area for furniture are not enough in stock and beds at the time of Sept, Can it be possible if coupons go directly into the card. Great spot big parking lot everyone is nice and there place is clean customer service is great fully stocked and the prices are good. The staff is very friendly and helpful they always asked if I needed anything and they are very pet friendly I would recommend this place to anyone looking for dog food cat food fish food and all kinds of animal foods.
Clean facility. It does have its own parking lot which is always a good thing in Brooklyn for those that drive. Also convenient location for those that take the train. “D” train to 86th is perfect. Staff that helped us was friendly and knowledgeable and actually took us to the area and stood with us making friendly conversation. Now be it a theft-prevention tactic or not I don’t know lol but it was still a pleasurable conversation. So props to this location for a clean facility knowledgeable and friendly staff and a parking lot that does need some repaving.
Do not buy any livingthings from this place I went in there last night like 6 pm with my daughter and my wife for Glofish and in every tank there were hundreds of dead fish it was pretty disgusting but my daughter was with me or I would have walked out so my daughter wanted to get a couple of fish so I did not even 24 hours later I come home and one of the fish is dead so I call pet o and they tell me to bring the dead fish to them and a sample of the water is that a joke first thing a sample of there own water they need to check and as far as bringing the fish back to them I will lose my money on this but never step into a pet o again TRUST ME DONT BUY ANYTHING LIVING FROM THIS PLACE ADRESS IS 2601 86 STREET BROOKLYN NY 11223 DISGUSTING
Petco is Buddys Favorite store to go in. This particular store is huge and although it is often kinda messy inside it does usually have an amazing assortment of toys and foods and tons of numerous items for your pets. The place is big and the staff is rarely seen...i dont mind because they dont bother you or pester you at all unlike certain other stores. The are rarely if ever to be found...except at the register to take my money. I dont mind this and wish more stores were like this. Hell, you could even walk right up to an expensive pet item put it in your pocket and walk right out. Once, a couple years back when i was layed off and financially having a rough time, i needed some stuff for my dog Buddy, and i saw an employee standing near the door, i asked and he helped hold the door open as i walked out with a shopping kart full of doggy stuff. He didnt realize that i never stopped at the register before i left like most people. Now if thats not good customer service i dont know what is..Thanks dude, me and Buddy really needed it,...it was a rough winter.
THE ATTITUDES ON THE PEOPLE WHO WORK HERE ARE DISGUSTING!!!I have never experienced such horrible, snotty people in a pet store in my life, even the manager was nasty! Please... Do yourself a favor, go somewhere else. Not only is your local pet store cheaper, they are more courteous than this nasty place.

2021-11-22Great selection of parakeets. I was able to get a rare gray and yellow one and a blue and white one. My kids absolutely love them. Dusty and Frosty are so sweet. We got them practically as babies and they became accustomed to us very quick. They love millet treats.

2022-05-09Came in wanting to purchase a Redfoot tortoise a few hours before close. After speaking with Brittany (amazing associate) we knew we were definitely prepared to take on this serious commitment. Coming in we knew the price of the tortoise (250) and figured the tank and a few essential items would be at most another 100-200. Turns out we might have low balled it a bit. The enclosure alone Brittany showed us was over 250 and if you add on all’s the other things (lights, mulch, food and decorations) you’re looking at 400 plus the cost of the tortoise. Now don’t get me wrong the enclosure was beautiful and well presented and had its own unique benefits it was just a little too expensive. Faced with the thought of how disappointed my wife was gonna be on the ride hike I decided to ask the manager (Sarah=AMAZING) if there was any discount available for the enclosure. She told me about the pals discount but also offered the option of another enclosure. One that was perfect for what we needed but also more modestly priced. After showing us the tank and going over the pros and cons we decided that it was suitable atleast for now and if anything could be upgraded later down the road. She then helped us put together a starter kit of essentials and priced them with applicable discounts before even getting to the counter. She was like an encyclopedia of information and gave the best customer service I have had in a very long time. She even helped carry the tank with me to the car. Honestly these two ladies gave me an experience I would not soon forget and really showed me how much they loved their jobs. Promote them both! Give them a raise and a medal. They deserve the sun and the moon for how great they both are. Thank you both again and I’ll be back soon for some more food!

2022-03-08I was surprised that the cat treats I was looking for were not on the shelves. In fact, the wet cat food section was pretty bare. I enjoy my trips to this store because they have such a large selection. I enjoy looking at the live animals. Staff is very helpful. Flo K

2022-04-09This is one of the best petco i have been to the staff is very helpful and friendly especially the young woman with the blond hair and tattoos she took her time to listen to me and helped me pick out dog food for hunter. The young man at the register was friendly as well the store is clean and have lots of great products to choose from .

2022-01-10It was fast and detailed. The employees there helped when I looked confused 😆 my cat got his yearly vaccines and it was fast and detailed like Ive said before. Ill definitely be going back for cat toys, food, etc.

2022-03-26I came in to buy a hamster for my kids today . There was a nice selection of supplies as well as hamsters I got helped by a young lady with blond hair I think her name was Britney she was Amazing and walk me and my kids through every detail, not only was she very knowledgeable but patient with my kids which is definitely a plus for me since they were screaming lol I will definitely be coming back to shop there

2022-01-20The store is the same as all the rest of Petko. there were few people. restrooms are still closed. it seemed to me there was a bit of a mess. Or maybe it was the day of the arrival of the goods, everything is very has risen in price. the prices are simply unrealistic. i needed grass for my two catsa tiny pot of regular cat grass for $8.99 plus taxes. I went there and looked at the prices and left with huge eyes.

2017-12-26This place is a mess it’s a nice looking store and they have plenty of parking but if you don’t know what you want it’s always a problem to get someone to help you out with anything they are lazy and there prices are definitely high but they do have everything you can possibly want for any kind of animal dog food is expensive and they are always clean but they never help you out with anything I’ve been going here for years and there’s never any one around to help you get anything and when you do finally find someone it’s going to take you a while before they help you, every time I ask for help the answer is always this is not my area!!!
