Ordered online dog treats for my two pups to pick up in store. The order was over $50 which gave me a 15% off on the order. Upon arriving to Petco, 45 minutes later only 2 of the seven items I ordered was available. I can understand one item , but 5 items not available -??? Next I ask if I could add to the order in the store to get the order up to $50 to get the15% off offered online. I was told I would have to submit another order online. Then I find the items (dog treats) that were actually on the shelves in the store - they did not qualify for the 15%. Very disappointed. The cashier was very sympathetic, but your system should not allow customers to place an order on instore items, if they were not available. I am awaiting a credit card refund.
I appreciate the wide variety of items and how each aile is always stocked and organized whenever I visit. The employees are really nice and helpful. The only downside is that there is usually not enough staff to help people who are looking for items and check out always takes a while even if the line is short.
My sister bought a bird last week, it was sick unfortunately and ended up dying. We buried the bird. My sister saw on the receipt she was able to get reimbursed if this were to happen within 30-days. So, she went into Petco and SHOWS A PICTURE of the dead bird and she’s told that they need the physical bird??? We literally have to dig up the bird for “insurance purposes”. Disgusting, they treat animals as mere products and don’t have any morals. The reason for return on the receipt even said “customer dissatisfied”. They didn’t even say that it was because the poor bird was sick. Don’t buy animals from here, support your local breederEdit: if you scroll down you can even see that someone pictured a sick bird with white spots. DO NOT BUY BIRDS FROM HERE!!!! THEY SELL SICK ANIMALS.
Useless. Vetco has online booking for appts but even 6 months out, the website booking doesnt work. I called at 9:30am and at 11:45 and got voicemail to leave a message. No one called back. I finally got through at 2:30pm, and the person at the Vetco department in Petco told me 1. They dont return calls (why is there voicemail?) 2. They dont have an appt available until late March (7-8 weeks away,) and 3. Unlike what is *clearly* marked as walk-ins welcome on their website, they do not take walk-ins *at all.* They referred me to their emergency vet services (at 2:30 in the afternoon on a Thursday) where I would have to pay an vet emergency room appointment fee of $200+ and then everything else would also be higher at the emergency room.Why is Vetco *full service vet* center on Avenue Y in Brooklyn referring me to an emergency vet in the middle of the afternoon on a Thursday? Why when there is voicemail that comes on all morning saying leave a message was I told that messages are not returned.I wont be returning for my dogs vaccinations, my pet food, or anything else within the Petco system EVER.
I came in the rain to return the item and they told me that they don’t accept anything past 30 days. They don’t care about you or about your pets. They also sent me to another store 2 hours from this location on a wild goose chase. I almost never come here and today is another reminder as to why. Staffer who said he is a manager lied to me saying that the product I needed was discontinued (I found it available on Petco website). He told me to order smaller size of the item while actual size I needed was available online. Avoid this location.
I usually get my high end dog and cat food from here. The fish selection has a vast variety from freshwater to salt water. Theres adoptable cats, birds, lizards, and turtles. The place is kept clean, workers knowledgeable.I took my dog here for his puppy package of shots and microchipping. In total was $72. Pretty cheap so Im happy.Ive also done puppy socialization and obedience classes here. Very good team!
Groomer did not show for a confirmed appointment. Was told by the cashier that all customers were called to cancel, which was not true. No email or call/text. If you require your customer to call 24hrs in advance to cancel, then your STAFF should be required to also. A complete waste of time and disrespectful.
Awful serving the price they said 127$ for grooming then they charged from me 140$ and they didn’t cut accurately, I don’t know what did they give my dog he wanted to sleep. I won’t go there anymore awful service.And that petco was near sheepshead bay near Marshal store
I wanted to buy a fishtank. The staff are so friendly and patient. The saleslady patiently explained to me the steps of starting a new fishtank and how to set it up. She helped me look through different size fishtanks and explained to me the pros and cons of each tank and how many fish can live in each one. She showed me the water conditioner and the anti bacteria and told me when to use it. I set up my fish tank 2 days ago, and now Im going back to get my fish! I know I will have the same positive experience again! I highly recommend Petco for all your pet needs!
The store is the only location I can find the item I need for my cats. The staff were very nice. They gave me reliable information to obtain the item I needed. I had to go out of my way to obtain the item that I needed because its not available at all the Petco locations.
I have to renew my review from 5 to 1 ! I bought 3 tanks(30-30-20) from here 5 years ago so lm a repeat guest of this Petco . Unfortunately All personal re-changed and new ones r not helpful . It’s ridiculous l couldn’t buy any fishes 🐠 last 3 visits . Forexample today I wanted to buy 2 small baby plecos . Answer : No you need bigger tanks ! I’m asking dalmation Chinese all eaters price but 2 managers don’t know . How will they sell lm not sure ... Absolutely no more 5 for 5$ promotions in last 6 months after real staffs left like SOLOMON .Hey there l feed fckin fishes since 5 years old l know which fishes l could buy .
Groomers here are terrible. I booked the first appointment with them but apparently they had an issue where they overbooked. They “scanned” the vaccination records and asked me to rebook instead of taking me the same day even though it was their error. Okay, maybe this was an error so I rebooked.I show up for my second booked appointment and they said the vaccination records weren’t scanned..Terrible experience and will not be returning here. Stay away from this petco.
I swear to God thanks to a customer service my parents dont really speak English but they still had patients to explain things to my parents, the only thing I dont like about Petco is how they keep all those bearded dragons and other animals in small cages together especially guinea pigs..
Petco do better. Hire more staff and please train them the proper way to meet and greet guest and how to actually attend to guest and not leave them standing there or walking around aimlessly looking for someone to help them. Today I went into your store and waited around for ten minutes and not one of your employees offered to help me. When I finally seen an employee in the area I needed help with he was busy giving tips and basic knowledge to another guest. I know thats part of his job so Im not gonna knock him for that but I will for not having the ability to multi task. When clearly the other guest seemed at first as if they wanted only advice. Im not sure if they purchased anything I ended up leaving because the frustration of actually being there before that guest and not being attended to had me on edge already. I was a ghost today when I arrived at your store today and it actually has me ready to give up my membership and just purchase from online sellers for my pet supplies and pets. Sorry not sorry but today proved why brick and mortar stores dont make it. Lack of customer service skills and attention to guest can make you lose so much and today that nearly happened. I did return and make a purchase but I dont think Ill be returning in the future.
Came to the right place. Ask for Michael. He answer all my questions and help me come to a concrete decision. He is extremely professional, knowledgeable and has a wealth of knowledge on animal care. We purchased a bearded dragon, tank, food, heating lamps and enclosure. Money confidently well spent and a happy son. Thanks M
Doctor was very nice and seemed knowledgeable, however they are not full service as they do not offer dental. I have to take my cat to a different vet for teeth. The kicker is that different vet wants to charge me for exam again and for blood work again, when my cat just had exam and blood work done at Vetco. Had I known, I would have taken her to a different vet from get go.
Gabrielle was very helpful with telling us on how to setup our freshwater 40 gallon tanks and told us we should wait to buy fish till the tank was setup properly. Usually other fish stores will want you to buy fish right away, she told us to wait for all the chemicals to react. She was very knowledgeable in what types of fish and aquatic plants we needed and why type of decor we wanted. I will be back to buy our fish and plant life in 2 days. Cant wait.

There service is horrible and I purchased a hamster and 2 weeks later she passed away, I brought the hamster back and they said since it was less than 30 days I could get a new one. I got a new one and then the same thing happened. They were well taken care of and there were no signs of them being sick.
These birds are clearly sick and neglected the male canary is lethargic and cannot perch and the red fronted conure is very sick as well. Irratic behavior and feathers completely marred meaning theres ZERO room in these tiny cages. You must do something about this will be filing formal complaint
I ordered two 42 pound Fresh Step cat litters online to pick up at the store, to take advantage of the 25% off order when you do this. 1 litter wasnt available. At the store, I asked if they received new quantities, the man checked and they did! He obviously was a manager because he said that I could have the 2nd litter for the sale price I was to originally get! I dont know his name, but he made my day!
This has been my local Petco for over six years. Usually good service and I’ve been vocal about that to them directly. Lately I’ve noticed the shop prices are a little higher than petco.com. They’ve price matched me once before. Today the manager fed me some bs about not being able to price match a regularly priced item found on petco.com. I later checked the website policies and turns out this manager lied to me.
The only good thing about this Petco is its convenience. I can get everything they carry and more from Chewy.com.Their grooming service is....well if you want your dog gone for 5 hours, then go here. Ive been bringing my dog here for 2 years and their service and timing has gotten progressively worse, while raising their prices to an obscene level. The last time I brought my dog there, she got sick. Could have been a coincidence, but all I know is she was fine before her appointment, then she came home and the next day was lethargic and not eating. Thankfully she was fine, and I decided to give Petco one more shot. Her appointment was for 2 pm. I got there 5 minutes early, and after the song and dance of trying to find her record, I left at 2:12, being told shed be ready around 4. At 5:30, when I hadnt heard from them, I drove over and she still wasnt done. They said another 40-45 minutes, which turned into over an hour. When all was said and done, I spent $138 and had my dog basically locked in a cage for 5+ hours (mind you, its not like she got walked while there). She looks fine but to have her locked away and being worried about her wellbeing, thats a hefty bill. I wont be taking her there again.
Specifically rating the Vetco inside here. We had to take a visit to Dr. Tracy Hill for our kitten. She is so welcoming and kind. She is very intelligent and experienced at what she does that she can articulate it at a simple level for us regular folks to understand. Very funny and willing to answer any questions! Highly recommend coming here for your pets! Ask for Dr. Hill!
This place sucks. Stood at the fish tanks trying to get the attention of an employee with headphones in, acting like I wasn’t there. After about 5 minutes they walked in the back and got another employee to help me who didn’t know what they were talking about. Don’t waste your time
Outrageous customer service. They refused to sell two fancy goldfish 2 inches each because I have 55 gallon aquarium with 2 fancy goldfish already. I called the corporate office and was told that fancy goldfish requires 10 gal per fish, so the habitat I was going to offer was indeed sufficient. I called the store and spoke with another manager who hung up on me. If you do not want additional stress in your life, avoid the store!
I waited almost 4 minutes in the fish section for 12 crickets being that no one was around i ask the cashier for assistant and she said ok. I waited 5 minutes more while she took care of 5 customers. Still nothing so I got on her line the only register open to pay for my meal worm and asked her for 12 crickets now she asked for someone to assist in the fish aisle she the nerve to tell me to go back to get my crickets. I asked her to ask the person to pass her the crickets for me being that I was already at the register and she refused with a nasty attitude. So I told her just ring me up the meal worm and I left very disappointed.
They never have products that I need ( crickets for my chameleon, treats and food for my cat ) and while I was looking for the crickets, store clerk came in served a customer he seems to be acquainted with and just left without even acknowledging me. Very unprofessional.
My dog didnt seem to like the lady who brought her out (the vet doesnt come out to see you). They are also unreliable, inconsiderate and not worth the price for the spay + bloodwork. They cancelled my spay appointment twice claiming there would be no anesthesia machine the first time, then after I had to call again for a reschedule they did it for a month later and cancelled again because there will be no surgeon that day, we are SOOOOO sorry. This was even AFTER I paid for the blood work that is not valid at other places. Not sure how they got such a good rating
Be very careful of their vital care service. They are extremely unorganized. You will never be get a phone call back. I had to chase them to get my dogs blood work. Today I went to get my dogs teeth cleaned as part of the service which I did 2 weeks ago. They told me my dog wasnt vaccinated. I asked how did you brush her teeth 2 weeks ago. They replied I DONY KNOW. After asking for headquarters number which no one wants to accommodate you. they kept me for 20 mims waiting just for a number . Came out with another vet and still they dont have a number for their boss. Be very careful where you bring your pets. This VITAL CARE and its staff need PROFESSIONAL ppl working not children. I will NEVER trust them with such precious cargo again. Worst vets in Brooklyn
I had no problem purchasing online and picked them up later at the store. Everything was done on the same day. The only thing I was disappointed about was that the Blue Lotus lounger was missing from my bag. Instead I got 2 purple ones. I believe that Petco will make a correction when I return to the store for replacement or exchange. Overall, I was very happy with my purchase.
This is review of buy online - pick up in store service.It is combination of several factors : Im guaranteed to buy items of my interest, Im paying the most convenient way I preferred , I get some discount and I dont waist time browsing shelves of the store to find what I need
They deserve less then a star but I have to choose one to publish a rating. I’ve been to the store twice for the same reason; to buy goldfish. Twice we’ve been met by a staff member who’s name is Loriano, and he refused to sell us the goldfish. Furthermore he ignored us with the questions I had and he went to another customer when we were first. He was rude and had a nasty attitude. I think that as a store they’re losing money because then I went to a separate pet store and was allowed to buy goldfish, and I proceeded to spend another $70 to buy different pet supplies.So PetCo, your loss.
BE AWARE! Do not get your grooming services done by Ashley. I took my one year old shih tzu to Petco for his regular grooming appointment and Ashley was the only groomer Available. I explained to her to cut around the eyes and shape up the face area instead she caused my dog to receive an eye infection. My dog wasn’t able to open his eye after the grooming appointment I had to take my dog to the vet. He received medication, and the vet confirmed it was because of the grooming. Why is Petco hiring these inexperienced people it’s disgusting. She didn’t even care, she laughed on the phone she should be ashamed of herself. My dog is literally in pain. I’m so upset at my experience this time around.The only people I do appreciate is Anthony and Tyron for helping us in this matter. (Managers at Petco)
I went to 2 different PETCOs1st (By Stillwell+25th Ave+86th Street+ Ave U+ Bay 40-something Street) a VERY odd shaped intersection. So this PETCO had GREAT service, but a VERY bad selection.The other PETCO store. On Ave Y and East 16th Street. Everything in reverse Awesome selection, but terrible service.
If I could give a 0 I would, the young lady would not sell me and my husband 2 cichlids because we were going to put them in a 10 gallon tank. She did not even stay around for us to say we were having a custom tank built thats over 100 gallons. They were babies they would have been in there small home for 1 month. She just ignored me and was texting on her phone. The manager was nice and helpful told her to help us. Still she ignored me. I do not like being ignored or disrespected. We have had fish tanks of all kinds through the years even before she was born. I will never shop there again! There are plenty more stores that I can spend my money and time in. I would say her name but she had no name tag.
The receptionist that was there wasnt too pleasant. This was my first time here. I over heard her say they sent a pet home with the wrong family. And they dont email you a summary as to what they did with your pet. Also its unfortunate that this is the only hospital petco has.
Place was crowded. Went to buy some treats for a dog which stay with me when an owner on vacation. Petco original treats ingredients did not trustable. Spent more money for Greenie treats. Could recomend that store for emergency. Better shopping online our some independent store.
A very clean, organized, and stock up Petco. The bad thing is the staff. Specially the man in the fish department ,rude not helpful has no people skills. Made me and my children feel very uncomfortable watching our every move and not allowing us to purchase any fish and wouldnt answer my questions. He needs to go.
I got a African Dwarf Frog from here once for my tank. The frog had a fungal disease and killed all the rest of my fish in only one day. I had those fish alive and healthy for years and all it took was one frog to kill them all off. Dont purchase fish from here if you care about your fish.
Very poor service. Their people is lazy amd their talk more chilling with their customers for long .common they are customers waiting for you!!!! Always hard to find a staff member, many of the pets not properly cared for. Chameleon’s tank was reading 0% humidity and a fact sheet immediately below says it requires at least 70%. Finally found a staff member and they had no idea how to change it, and didn’t even know there was a gauge to begin with! Clearly a very well-trained and qualified employee...
Come here all the time for cat, they have a good selection of food thought found that the kitty litter was cheaper the dollar store. they have a good amount of pets on display there which makes a great place to bring the niece occasionally. the staff is very helpful and hospitable

2022-02-21Both my sons are always interested in animals. my eldest son says let’s buy a dog and the youngest a hamster. In a small apartment, we can effort a dog and hamster. So, I and my husband decided to surprise them with fish went to the Petco store and brought aquaria and fish. They loved everything about it, and thanks for the workers helping us and how to clean and feed them.

2021-11-04The store is so clean and pretty!!! The atmosphere is super easy. They had a nice variety of fish, some small rodents, birds and turtles. I got a lovely glow in the dark fish. Would definitely buy more fish from here.

2021-11-26DO NOT, and I repeat, do not take your pets to the groomer named Ashley! What she did to my dog is terrible and totally unacceptable! I have been Petcos customer for months and have had an amazing and professional groomer, Ksenia. About 3 weeks ago, on the day before my appointment, they texted me and said that it was canceled. They did not offer a replacement date, so I had to reschedule myself. Since Ksenia did not work there anymore, I had to book with Ashley. They called me three hours after I dropped off my dog and asked me to pick her up because Ashley was unable to finish the job and they were concerned about my dogs safety. When I came, I saw my dog unbathed, half shaved, with deep cuts on her back and shaking! Needless to say, I did not pay for this! When Ashley brought my dog out, there was no hello, no apology, nothing! She silently gave me the dog as if nothing had happened. Now I have a butchered dog with half its body shaved and cuts all over. Do yourself a favor and avoid Petco groomers.

2022-04-13I almost always find what I am looking for at this location. Employees are always very nice and helpful. Kudos to Petco for the amazing rewards program they have, and the VetCo addition. Just took our cat there and it was a very pleasant experience for all. If you join the program you basically only pay for services which is a big saving. (The monthly $20 you pay basically returns to you fully via discounts available).Keep up the great job!

2022-01-29Puppy training!I booked the 6 week personal training package for my little dachshund Clyde. We just had our first session with Rich and It was AMAZING. Rich is a super nice guy and very knowledgeable. He gave me a bunch of great tips on how to effectively practice with my dog at home and my little guy picked up on the commands immediately and had such a fun time doing It. Rich was SO great with my pup and was also wonderful with my 8yr old son who tagged along, they became best friends in 45 minutes lol. I can’t wait to do more training with Rich and am really excited to see my pup progress more. Thanks for being so kind!

2021-04-08In this store are cheating. On April 4, they wanted to buy a parrot, but on that day the seller did not allow to buy it, and in the window it was written that it would be on sale on April 7. They wanted to buy and pay right away, but the red-haired seller categorically explained that it would be possible to buy only on April 7 and there were no more options. We returned on April 7 and stood for 2 hours before the store opened, after which we discovered that the parrot was missing. I am extremely dissatisfied with the work of the team. why deceive people? the manager said the parrot was sold on April 6th. how so? we do not understand why to deceive people. how to explain all this to a child now?

2020-11-21I took my 4 mnth old puppy to petco for his first grooming due to us traveling for the holiday season. For most of my family members, this will be his first introduction into the family. I specifically told told the groomer (Talia) DO NOT cut my dogs coat, due to the cold weather. I just want his face, nails and rectal area trimmed, along with a bath and brush out of his coat. She promised she wouldnt, and said that she totally agreed with my decision. When I picked my pup up, his coat was not only shaved all the way down, but she left long hair pieces on several different areas of his body. Noticeably theres also deeper dip fur cuts in his already cut short coat. I had to come home, unexperienced and use a scissors to even him out as best I can. Let me add that I still had to pay the very inappropriate price of $79, which I wouldnt of mind if my pups appearance was exceptional. To some this experience may seem light. But for me, my pup means everything to me and so does his health and overall appearance. Thankfully I can look forward to his hair growing back. Hopefully, even lengthed. But until then, even the thought of our experience at petco, leaves me boiling mad. I would not recommend petco to any of my family or friends for grooming. Below are before and after pictures.

2022-06-19Better selection than other Petco stores in my neighborhood. Fish tanks more full and more variety of guinna pigs which was what I was looking for. Staff was very courteous but difficult to get help when needed. Perhaps understaffed. Free parking definitely a plus !!
