I got 2 pretty pet geckos for my kids here. They are both happy and healthy. The store is bright and clean and the staff is friendly and professional. I was accidentally overcharged once and the manager contacted me directly to notify me and offered several options to compensate me. Highly recommend this store!
WALE who is apparently the best groomer at Petco, lacks professional and communication skills and does not know how to handle a puppy. I advise not to bring your puppy here and to stay away from whatever Petco Wale may bounce back and forth from. The one star is for the nice females and manager who did the best to handle my situation. I had brought my puppy here when he was little for his first grooming with Petco and unfortunately Wale who is supposed to be their best groomer was not able to do much because my dog was a bit nervous with his first time at the groomers. We did get a full refund because in 2 hours of being at Petco with Wale, there was little grooming done in whichWale then advised for us to continue bathing him and trying to get him used to being groomed so that next time he would be more comfortable. Wale advised for us to bring him in regularly to him at Petco. As advised by Wale, we proceeded to continue booking appointments at Petco and a day or 2 before the appointment we would receive a call from Petco that the groomer wasnt coming in. After 2 similar occurrences with the groomer not coming in and months of trying to get an appointment at Petco since it is local to us, I brought my dog back at 8am to then find out that Wale had put a red flag and referred out our dog in which means he is not allowed to get groomed at Petco anymore. Wale had failed to mentioned this to us on the day of our dogs first grooming upon pickup. Wales lack of professional and communication skills led us to a lot of running back and forth, as well as a terrible experience. For apparently being the best, Wale did not know how to handle a 12lb, 6 month old puppy at the time. Petco needs to do a better job at communication with their clients and maybe hire a better top groomer.To clients who love their puppies and want a good first experience, spend the extra money. Go to a small business owner who would appreciate and be thankful for the opportunity and do their best. Thank you Wale for putting our dog on the referred out list knowing you did not give any effort. It puts us at ease that if we wouldve brought our dog back to you, he wouldnt have been in good hands and had another terrible experience.
Whenever Ive purchased anything for my turtle 🐢, Michaelangelo, I was treated respectfully. The associates have answered and it assisted me willingly and politely. The only complaint I have is their high prices! Amazon prices are better but if we all think that way smaller businesses will be out of business!
Good luck finding staff, eg, to answer phones, cashier, sales, and grooming service. Its like a ghost town empty. I can never see staff to ask questions, prices and location of items if available you basically on your own. Also don’t believe the hype when they say staff will call you back it’s not going to happen. Bottom line it’s a lousy store.
This store needs to be closed down immediately!I see no need for this store to remain open, the shelves are packed with expired items. While walking all around the store, I found open food and bags of bedding, also open pellet containers around the store. That can be super harmful to animals.I purchased an item for my pet that was expired. Theres no reason for this store, they have no pets, no cats to adopt, dog treats in front of the store looked old! Whats the point! I think Petco is just milking it at this point. No caring about animals, just caring about profit!
I have been a Petco customer for the longest. Due to the pandemic everyone works around with what is available. And believe me an owner of SEVERAL pets I have adjusted this new norm. Today I witnessed the nerve of a customer who apparently has not gotten with the program of the new norm we ALL live in. She literally held up the line for over 20-30 minutes because she didn’t understand the usage of a gift card and how it’s an inconvenience for her about everything. She should be ashamed from wasting employee time for only trying to help her. Employee was going up and beyond to accommodate her and explain to her and yet the customer could of cared less. Nothing wrong with holding a gift card that won’t expire anytime soon, especially if you are a “customer for the longest”.
We bring our fur baby here for her grooming needs. After our previous groomer left, Brittnei has been the only one we go to for our grooming needs. She is friendly, knowledgeable, professional, and sooo sweet to our little fur baby. I’m quite protective of my dog and Brittnei takes excellent care of her. I have also recommended her to my mother who started bring her dog to Brittnei as well. She’s awesome!!
I love the staff at this Petco Location. They are very friendly and helpful. If Im in an aisle, I always have at least one person asking me if I need assistance. Its nice. Especially when I dont feel like customer service is a priority for most stores these days. Its refreshing to see people still care about helping others.
Bad experience with staff there. I bought fish there that last a few days. I went to replace them with the intention of purchasing them and lost my place in line because manager there was too busy working as a cashier. This place need more man power to assist with customer issues during the covd times.
Had an appointment for grooming and everything was exceptional. The girl at the floor was very friendly and attentive and she help me decide on my dog hair cut .wally was great with my dog and handled her with care she came out looking like a new dog.i love the services i receive and would definitely recommend this place and the grommer.
The petco person were very helpful n understanding what u asked for the only downside wish they carried saltwater products n fish n corals like other petcos n since their is nolonger anymore petland they could be very helpful to customers like me who would shop at that location hopefully that helps ur survey 😊
Petco in general has nice stuff/perks, decent pricing for a local store BUT their lines, even when a small amount of people are on it, are DRASTICALLY SLOW. They also barely have many people in the store so youll be waiting long to cash out and for any help, especially to get a new pet.
I went to the store to get some feeders for my eel. I politely ask the gentleman do you have any feeders he says our delivery has not come in yet so you just have to wait. Now is that a way to to talk to customers. If you do not like dealing with people who love and care for their pets then he should find another job. Because with out customers you have no business.
Im changing my negative review from 3 stars to a positive 5 star review. Ive since visited this store several times and am pleased to say that the condition of the aquatic department has greatly improved.The store carries a good variety of tropical fish. The fish seem healthier and better cared for now. And the tanks are maintained better. Thumbs up.
Great costumer service and they treat my dog with so much luv and that to me is the most important part.. How they treat her an her reaction when she sees that person can tell you a lot and every time we go if she sees or notices this particular employee she gets so happy and excited and that to me says a lot.. Great Job Petco 👏 👏👏👏
Pet store. thats.not really.people friendly ,,most store workers couldnt be bothered to help you find anything,, and the groomer here on Sunday is very difficult to deal with,, he cancels without any call and then reschedule you four or five different times, total waste of time and gas money,, he need to go work somewhere where people can just treat customers like garbage,,No more I wont come back here ever
The groomers are focused on your money not your dog,, they are rude and have poor hygiene,, the male groomer is totally oblivious of the time of others ,,he has inconvenience me three times over and over,, he is a sick person who needs ssi not grooming jobs,,,, the Manager is a swaste of time and energy always missing or unable to help with anything ill never come back here ,,Please dont waste your time or money on these unprofessional and unpredictable groomers
No one wanted to help me. There were three people working two females and a male. when I asked a question they look at me as I was bothering them. Also my dog had an appointment to be groomed and I was told that my dog was n the system about 4 or more years ago as being aggressive. Well when I picked my dog up 4 years ago no one told me that. That took place at the mount Vernon store. Jonathan was rude to me and I was told I could speak to a general manager on Monday. It’s crazy there are 6 people I know who dogs have been put on the aggressive list and you won’t groom. I was treated rudely . I angling with my friends and family will no longer shop at Petco. The Gunhill road store needs to be shop down or you all need to train staff how to deal with people and dogs aggressive or not. Sometimes a dog does not like one groomer but will be great with another.
Great service! Our sales person helped us tremendously when selecting the right food for my dog. She had one of the many qualities some of our sales person lack today! I was amazed and gracious to know we still have employees like Bianca working with always a smile on her face and a friendly personality! I definitely recommend this location, clean and welcoming Petco!
There was no one at the register. After waiting a minute, I asked the person that was at the desk for the pat care if someone could come by to help. Instead of her getting up to help, she called for her colleague on the loud speaker and he tooks 2 minutes to come to the register. He also never apologized
We recently adopted a cat a few months ago and this is our go to store. Always great prices and deals going on and the staff is amazing. They are friendly/professional and knowledgeable on all the products. One of the specialists by the name of Therin really helped us on our last visit and even had my son tag along to help him with another customer look at mice. Great great store and always a pleasant experience
Small and doesnt have much. The staff were not friendly or helpful at all. No one greeted us or asked if we needed assistance. I waited at the register for 5 minutes with my pup for someone to come out and ring us up. No one came. I left my cart and went to another store.
The 1st person wasnt as helpful but when the young lady came out the counter she turned out to be a blessing. I have tried many times over to find a treat he likes previous times to no avail with you guys & your competitor. With her persistence she finally found something he likes.
The work that was done by Robert was excellent,but when I first got there I had to get a manager to leave the dog because Robert had not started his day yet ,not any fault of Roberts i was a little early but the manager took the dog with a smile and no problem she was very helpful,but i have an English Labrador which has short hair i have always been charged for a short hair dog , I was charged an extra $10 which I was not charged the time before, I was in a hurry so I just paid the $10 I was going to contact you on this issue Im glad you contacted me ,plus the dog is a service dog and I am a senior which you give no discounts like pet smart does why is that ?
The store is mostly clean, they never have anything youre looking for in stock, when you do find something, there are pieces missing and the employees always say its whatever is out on the floor or shipment is not in, they dont bother to check the back stock either. You walk in to a lonely store, no ones ever at the register unless you tell someone youre ready to check out, no one greets you when you walk in.
Load all of my items onto counter to check out. Paid and cashier stares at me blankly. I ask if my items can be bagged. We have a paper bag, hands it to me to bag my own items then tells me the bag costs 5 cents! I dont walk around carrying change and I had already paid. Walked out with items in hand, no bag!
I had a great experience in the store . I went there on August 12, 2018 with my three-year-old daughter who was giving me a very hard time while I was shopping as three-year-olds do . One gentleman who worked there first helped me find the dog food I needed and then helped me so much with my daughter. He went above and beyond his duties as a petco employee. He literally entertained my daughter for a good 25 minutes to allow me time to shop. He let her work with him. She had so much fun when we left she kept asking me to go back to petco. All the employees were so great I will definitely be going there again! all the employees were so great I will definitely be going there again !
This is a very small Petco. Because of this, they may not have the items you want. Also, you will only see about 1 or 2 staff members and most times theres no one at the counter. You kind of have to ask loudly for help at the counter.I dont groom my pets there but I know its a long wait. I overheard a customer ask how long and she was told the waiting list is at least till August. We are in mid July as of this writing.The staff is very friendly and helpful.
I wanted to take my dog to get groomed at this location but first I needed to send them an email of all vaccinations that were done. Of course I did send an email but the groomer kept saying three times that My dog was missing a vaccination when clearly I had proof that all vaccines were up to date. He even told me to call Vetco to have them email him a copy of vaccinations. Vetco emailed the records and he still said he didn’t see it. I spoke to him once again and asked if he can just call Vetco and he specifically stated “no I’m sorry. I don’t have time to do that”! Which is so unprofessional. I called Vetco again and the lady I was talking too was nice enough to call him back in three way to let him know all vaccinations were sent and their shouldn’t be a problem for my dog to get groomed. He finally listened and said he see all vaccinations. When I took my dog to his appointment, the groomer told me that he was unable to give my dog a full body hair cut because he’s only 7 months and it’s his first time. And that he moves around a lot. I never heard of that before. I will never take my dog to petco to get groomed. It was first time and it was a horrible experience!!!!!!
Terrible customer service at the register. The employees will see you standing there and just ignore you and keep walking. Ive never been to a store that leaves the register unattended for 5-10 min at a time. I have witnessed this 4 times so far.Also, one of the dog trainers put his face in my dogs face and just stayed there challenging him in an attempt to be playful. My dog almost bit him in the face but I was able to intervene. I dont allow my dog to bite people, and he never has, but this guy would have deserved it as far as Im concerned. What kind of dog trainer approaches a dog they dont know this way? Dont even get me started on the way they house and care for their reptiles, most of the time I cant even look because its sad.Its disappointing because some of the staff is very nice and knowledgeable, and this is the only pet store within walking distance of my home, and I avoid going in as much as possible.
They keep selling me sick animals. They dont really seem to care about if the animals sick or just put in the back and bring up one thats not sick. Forgetting to clean and disinfect the entire enclosure because wet tail spreads. Im very dissatisfied whats my past three purchases. Now I have a bunch of supplies for small animals which cost me almost $100 in Bedding, food, toys ,cage furniture. . . And no pet. . . Thus is lame
I dont love this place, specifically the grooming salon; i am use to take my dog to the one in Mount Vernon, but i decided to take my dog there since is closer to my house, they require more vaccines than the Petco in Mount Vernon, they didnt clip mu dogs nails and they didnt dry him very well. I understand that i have a husky and theyre a little stubborn, but this is not a cheap service, so they either complete their job or charge accurately to the service theyre providing.
The Petco staff is insane but the Vetco staff coming there they are ridiculously rude. Those bastards could NEVER TOUCH MY DOG! Love him too much! On top of the fact that I was upset in the store with this nasty woman and instead of them being neutral they had to be bias. I decided I wasn’t having them touch my dog. I took him to another location and learned that my dog was given the wrong shot. They will be hearing from me. Best believe! Stay away!
I bought 1 Betta fish, 2 cory catfish and 5 harlequin rasboras. The harlequin rasboras died shortly after i came home (one died while it was in the bag) i called them and asked for a refund the next day and they told me to take the dead fishes back but i threw them out (my mistake).
I called and made an grooming appointment and the guy told me they only had afternoon appointments for the day I wanted so I said okay he asked me has my dog ever been there before I said yes and he asked her name I told him he then proceeded to tell me to come at 2:00 I show up and i waited at the grooming desk for 10 minutes and someone didnt come out till they saw there was a line so a girl comes out and asks me if I have an appointment I told her yes and she asks for my dogs name and I tell her and she says Im not in for an appointment I said I called yesterday and spoke to a guy and she says well we are booked today so we cant see your pet and she dismisses me not trying to make another appointment or trying to see who the guy was I talked to nothing they didnt care and this petco is not close to where I live so I was upset... very unprofessional this is not for the whole store because the people that work around the store are really nice and attentive the grooming salon on the other hand I will not be taking my dog here to get groomed
This is the worst Groomer Ive ever been to Joanne the groomer is slow and unorganized keeps dogs to long, and she over books. For someone claiming to have 20 years experience it doesnt show she should find another profession. I had one bad experience at this location the Groomer cut my dog multiple times and filed his nails to low, had to take him to the Vet. The customer service sucks and the Store manger Megan is a space cadet, Petco should be ashamed to have such Unprofessional , non-customer service individuals working at their store. STAY AWAY FOR YOUR PET HEALTH AND WELFARE>
The Petco at GunHill Smells horrible that cat litter smell was everywhere you can smell the Poop in the Air No management poor cashier didnt know you can price match and was giving wrong info regarding animal care, its fine to say Im sorry but I dont know. Overall horrible!
I went there before the lizard I bought expired to my horror and no vet was anywhere to be seen a guy that used to work there said that he would try to help me get her better but instead he took 2 of my calls gave me hope and now he still has my lizard and not answering my calls so much for good samaritans or an animal lover I think Ill go to the one in Manhattan the bronx ones sells lizards not in the best of health and too young.i wont find another girl like my Tia though but I will never trust anyone agian with my babies agian.Shame on you George.
Today I went for the first time to petco grooming to get my yorkie a full-service groom. Professional, courteous and informative, referring to staff. My dogs groomer Deysha B was outstanding from the rest. My dog felt so comfortable and trusting with her. Everything with aspect to grooming was perfect, being Im very hard to please. I appreciate what was done for my dog.
This is another very good pet shop, just recently opened, about a couple years ago.As for myself, can only speak about aquariums and reptile terriariums. Of which, they do have a very nice selection. And also an additional variety of food for your pets, in relation to other pet shops.And some of the the employees, really care about the animals. Of which you can tell, by the extremely helpful suggestions they offer, for the lives/needs/growth, of your family pets.💜💜💜Simple example: she instructed me on how to more correctly/kindly feed my reptile.Of Which I do love, exactly as when I had my dogShe also demonstrated to me, how to correctly mist my pet. And most especially to use warm water. Believe it or not, I was completely clueless about that simple fact.Even though I would capture reptiles, and have been studying (some of) them for the past 25 years. That is simply pure humanitarian love. 💜💜💜Which can never be learned from books or school.Please Like 👍👍👍
Its really small. They put fake shells for the poor herment carbs. Also i went to get a cuddle bone but it was broken. Then i ask if they had in the back and they said no. But they were going to give me 50% off because it was broken so thats good. The animals are so cute.😍😍😍
Petco on Gunhill BX-Everyone who works there is amazing, friendly and helpful.Isaiah helped us pick out our pet Robo hamster. He is a knowledgeable pet specialist. He knows all the pets and can give your great advice on the best product and techniques to keep your pet happy. Yesterday, my daughter was so distraught about her Robo hamster possibly being sick. We took Gizmo to Isaiah and he knew exactly what it could be . Not only did he give us advice on how to stop the problem but he told us to come back on Sunday to check his progress. Super, Amazing and kind. Thank you Isaiah and Petco!
I paid for training for my dog and never got it, i went to the store and ask why no one didnt call me they said the hard fired the trainer. They would give me a call when they get another one and never did, so i ask for my money back they said they cant give it back to me.
IF I CAN GIVE NO STAR I WOULD, AS FOR THE GROOMING DEPT THEY ARE BIAS AND PREFER TO GROOM THE SMALLER BREED AND DISREGARD THE BIGGER BREED. THEY CANCEL MY APPT IN THE LAST MINUTE I ATTEMPTED TO RESCHEDULED AND TO NO AVAIL. JOANN ONE OF THE GROOMERS HAVE PET, HUGGED AND PLAYED W/MY DOG EVERYTIME WE VISITED THE STORE AND THE MORNING I DECIDED TO SHOW UP AS A WALK IN TO AVOID PLAYING PHONE TAG W/HER SHE REFUSED TURNING ME AND MY DOG AWAY KNOWING HE WAS IN DESPERATE NEED OF A FLEA BATH, W/NO SYMPATHY WE WERE TURNED AWAY AND ALL OF A SUDDEN OUT OF NO WHERE SHE CLAIMED IT WAS BECAUSE SHE FELT AFRAID OF MY DOG BUT THE MANY OF TIMES THAT WE’VE BEEN THERE SHE AS I SAID BEFORE HAVE PET, HUGGED AND PLAYED W/HIM. ANA WASN’T ANY HELP EITHER PROMISED TO RELATE THE MESSAGES AND NEVER DID. I WAS SO ANGRY! THEY ARE SUPPOSE TO CARE FOR ANIMALS WHEN ALL THEY REALLY CARE ABOUT IS MAKING MONEY ON THE SMALLER BREED BECAUSE THEY ARE QUICKER TO FINISH AND GO ON TO THE NEXT ONE QUICKLY. I WILL BE TELLING MY FRIENDS NOT TO BOTHER WITH THIS STORE. PETSMART JUST GOT A NEW CUSTOMER.

2022-04-06My Maltese pup was groomed by Wally and I must say that I am very pleased with the services and results. Also, my dog is very happy with his cut. Ill be returning and I recommend getting your pet groomed here!

2022-03-13After leaving work, I made it to the store at 6:56 pm which was still open, as soon as I enter the automatic sliding door a guy approached me and said we’re closed, I explained to him I just want some cat food he replied again WE’RE CLOSED! no courtesy at all and people was still in the store and I have a couple minutes before actual closing time so my (2) cats went hungry for the night. I won’t be going back to that store.

2022-03-07People in the inner city are treated with disrespect. You have elderly customers come in to purchase items, there are no shopping carts available and no one to assist with taking heavy items to their cars. This doesnt happen in surburban areas.

2021-12-14Hey Manager,cashier and the 25 year old who calls himself a “KID” As you can clearly see I gave you guys a 5 star rating only because I believe in forgiveness, however you all know how I was treated at the establishment where you work. I know sometimes we are having a bad day and we do and say things we don’t necessarily mean. I was once told that the biggest stumbling block we have as people is our EGO and if we can put it aside most or all of the time this what we call life can be more enjoyable for us and others that we interact with. You guys are very young and I wish and hope that you will find or continue finding success in what you do. 🙏🏿
