Peters Diner in other cities:
Breakfast was ok. My family and I decided that we wanted a better breakfast than IHOP and was told about Peters diner. The staff is friendly and the service is quick but the food was just- ok. I asked for my home fries to be prepared crisp but they werent and my omlette was not tasty. My hubby asked for his waffles to be made soft and they were prepared crisp twice! The pork sausages were very good. I really wish it was better maybe this was a bad day for them...on the other hand, because of there good customer service- I will return.
The food, service and hospitality are great 👍 👌 😀. Covid-19 regulations are followed with plexiglass partitions and the customers arent piled up on top of each other. Definitely get enough food 😋 for your belly and money 💰. Great place for the family or on a date. Very clean also. 😋😋😋😋😋
Its an excellent family oriented dinner place, managed by its owner, with very good prices, the food is done according with your own taste, for instance I like the home fries fried, not sagged and with more onions on it, but they have to be fried, crunchy, so they always do it my way... and if you have any complaint you just talk to Pete, most of the time he is there... I hope you enjoy your visit, like my wife and I have done for years, most of the time on Sundays after Mass...
If you live in or around down town Amityville you should know and go to Peters Diner lso referred to as the Bay Village Diner n I believe its historical past. Its an impeccably clean dining room. Weve (my wife & I) ate there several times now and weve never had a problem or complaint. The service is very polite and professional, the food excellent. I always make sure to try something different every time we go. This neighborhood diner has been around for decades and no wonder why, its a well run diner/restaurant. When youre in the Amityville downtown area make sure to stop in for a bite there, youll really enjoy it.
Delicious! Stopped here for breakfast after a visit with family in Copiague and was thrilled to find grits on the menu - in New York! And they were tasty! As a Texan on vacation up north, it was a yummy taste of home. Friendly staff, quick service, great food. Loved it.
Ordered a cheeseburger deluxe medium-rare pickles no coleslaw. chocolate shake.Chocolate shake cost $4.95 was in a coffee cup. This was a takeout order. It was actually a half full coffee cup. My cheeseburger came very very well done. And to top it off there was coleslaw on all my food. I hadnt been there at Peters for about ten years ,I wasnt happy with their food then. Guess Ill wait another 10.
Ill give it another try, but Ill lower my expectations now. While the service was great the food in taste was sub-par. On top of that what the fish and chips I got was hardly worth the price even with the soup which was luke-warm. $13.50 for one piece of fish and a hand full of fries.
We stooped by Peters in our way home to Connecticut and we had a GREAT breakfast. We had a perfect western omelette and delicious corn beef hash and eggs. We like our homefries burnt and we have a hard time finding places to do it and they did that here for us. We smoat at the counter and the staff there was so awesome. From the Host to our sweet Server they were all friendly and talkative and made our visit fun! If you are nearby you need to go here!
This was my secind visit. First time the chicken and waffles were outtatanding so I ordered it again. Was very disappointed with the food. The waffle waa notncrisoy, the fried chicken had no taste and the syrup was awful. Soublt I will go back and if I do go back, I will try something else
This is the local community Diner. I have been going here since I was a little girl. The staff is always friendly.. coffee always hot ... and food always inexpensive and good. You cant stop in with out seeing someone you know from Amityville. Breakfast is my favorite.

2021-10-17Petes is an Amityville institution and doesnt need this review, but Im writing it anyway. I am convinced this diners kitchen is actually a portal to Narnia. There is simply no way a kitchen that small can turn a menu that big into perfect dish after perfect dish that quickly, without access to some sort of Deep Magic. The staff are all courteous and thoughtful, and if youre a regular, theyll never forget your coffee or tea preferences. Give them a visit, if you havent already. This is a local diner done truly right.

2022-01-27SO: no huge tips, no education anymore: so sad! However, nice food.1st of all: nice place with good and variated food. The owners so nice and made us some jokes. Place called our attention on our visit in Amy and decided to enter. Good decision cause I repeat, we ate so nice with a perfect quality-price. Thing we just found (and I also work face to public) rude and impolite was the behavior from our waitress. Seemed to be a nice woman, feeling ready to make our lunch such a time to remember. That was until she checked her tip. I perfectly know how it works, but just imagining some servers give you a nice service ONLY to get more tips at the end, is just inacceptable and sad. I dont get how this could be a way to work, either your attention to customers is based on. A really shame for us, as long as we gave her $8 buck tip (JUST 2 plates). Was a nice % from the bill and the face she just turned once counted the tip -in front of us- was unbelievable. WAS NOT at all even able to say goodbye to us once leaving - at least the owner did. If that amount didnt made her happy, she better stay at home and not giving service. Tips are a subject to respect as customer is who decides. Quest is: which qty she expected to receive? $25? $40? More than the lunch? Still dunno if she had a bad day. Not forgiveable anyway. 15day stay in Nyc ANYONE gave us that type of attitude. However I insist: food was great and obviously thats not a review to not to go there and have a good time.Just be prepared if THE woman comes to you with her (initially) smile!

2022-03-08Excellent, old but nostalgic, historical diner w a comfortable, cozy atmosphere. I love the long mural on one wall, that shows what Amityville used to look like as a seaport town. The food is definitely good homecooking, w casual and delicious meals. The employees friendly.

2021-10-10This place is the best! Everyone is so nice and its cool to hear the regulars just sit and chat and talk about life. The food is great but, my favorite part was time traveling 20 years back in atmosphere. Also, they butter your toast for you which is amazing. I love this place!
