PetSmart in other cities:
The East Greenbush NY PetSmart is my dog’s favorite store. Not only can she choose treats and toys, but the associates are always sweet and friendly to her. I have noticed that usually there is one register open, but if the line gets a little long, associates quickly open one or even two other registers. When the line clears up, they head back to the floor - cleaning, organizing, and interacting with customers and their pets.
Terrible store! always dirty, disorganized, and animal habitats are disgusting. For the amount of staff working Im very surprised to not here a single hello or can I help you find anything. Whoever is running this store should be ashamed.Dont waste your time here when there are NEWER, FRIENDLIER, BETTER pet stores in the area less than 10 minutes away!
After being reassured the female groomer was the second best poodle groomer...this is a picture of my dogs chest after her grooming session today. Her skin is shaved raw. Omg they have the worst groomers ever.Last time after $72 and a tip...I had to recut my pooch to level out the nicks the guy left and then paid the vet to do her ears which were supposed to be done by him in the session. Whew! The groomers need TRAINING.
They honestly do not deserve even one star. My dogs ear was cut and they tried to say he has a hematoma due to having to be cut down so low. I came to pick him up and he was bald with the exception of random scraggly hairs. He was whining really bad. They had him in a head lock and keep trying to get away. I have groomed both dogs myself and they never respond to me that way. After bringing my dog to the vet i was told pet smart cut my poor babys ear. He has been bleeding for a week. He has to take antibiotics now. I brought my eldest baby for grooming the same day and i am still finding cuts on him i didnt notice at first. I would never bring them back there to be abused like that again. Nor would i recommend to anyone. I believe Dan is the one who tried to decapitate my poor babys ear and not sure who tried to freddie crougar my other baby. Never again!
Compared to other pet stores within 15 minutes. Their selection of bird toys and small animals is good. But their fish section is borderline animal abuse and full of overpriced tank combos.was really disappointed by the new Betta rack. redid the display with individual LEDs per Betta cup, HOWEVER its still unheated and still the second rack closest to the door so in the winter the temperature fluctuates way outside a Bettas tolerable rangeGood selection of aquatic plants however
Was looking to get my cat groomed and called the Washington Ave Ext store since they’re closer to me. They were super helpful and friendly but said they unfortunately don’t have a cat groomer. They referred me to this location. I called, someone picked up but didn’t say anything, immediately put me on hold. I waited five minutes then hung up. A simple “thanks for calling, please hold” would have been nice. I will not be calling back.
I like this store the staff was friendly and attentive I usually go to Petco for feeder mice and found myself on this side of town so I tried it out I wish they had more generic live mice for feeding I didnt want to buy fancy mice just for feeding so I ended up with frozen
This store is always spotless and the pets are well cared for. Cages are always clean and the animals are active. The sales associates always have a friendly greeting when you walk in and always offer assistance in finding what you need. The store is practicing safe shopping by requiring that you wear a mask and stay 6 feet apart from each other. I feel safe shopping here. And I always find what my pet needs,
Nicely located. Pretty good selection for your fury bud. Love the options available for food at different life stages. I also love how they are placed in an accessible location and no need to wander around looking for things. I do not like that the posting price does not match at checkout. They should make better efforts to sort the shelves before opening so things are located in their appropriate place.Still I do recommend shopping there
Very knowledgeable staff.I came in for the PetSmart cat adoption clinic. The cats and kittens here are well-vetted. The kittens here are raised and cared for by awesome AnimaLover volunteers prior to being available for adoption. Some of the older cats have lost their owners due to illness.AnimaLovers and PetSmart. What a great combination!
Store is organized, good stock selection for cats food and treats although a bit in the pricey side for the cat toys. I dont know why but the wet cat food I buy from here, my cat refuses to eat. If I purchase the wet cat food from Target the cat will eat it without problem (same brand). I dont know if there is a different quality between the two stores.
I have a German shepherd just little over a year. He is a puppy but to others he can be quite intimidating. We were the last customers of the day all we needed was a nail trim and grind. Ive used other petsmarta before but this one is now closer to where I live. I had tried clipping his nails a few months earlier and accidentally cut him. So he is sensitive about his right leg. Cutting his back legs went fine. But when it came to his right leg he got nevervous and tried to run away. Ended up hanging by his neck for a few seconds. The guy cutting his nails didnt seem to care. Kind of let it happen. After that my pup was beyond shaken. I tried to reassure him but I couldnt go to him. Nonetheless less the guy just grabbed his paw and continued on. So my dog did a growl. Which by the way he has never done before. Then he started barking. The guy called it quits and that he no longer felt safe. My dog was able to get his nails trimmed once before after his nail incident. By another grommer who was made aware of his paw. She was kind and gentle and reassuring and he never yipped or barked. He pulled away his paw but ultimately remained calm. This guy was rough and didnt seem to realize he was dealing with an animal with feelings. Im not bashing petsmart. Im just saying beware of this male groomer at petsmart. He isnt kind or gentle. My dog wasnt severely hurt. But I think thats just because I was there watching him closely. Just beware
Have had wonderful experience with Jan the dog trainer. Shes the best.If I have one complaint for management, that makes my review have only three stars, its the difficulty I have consistently with getting help in the reptile section. It seems that only one person (if youre lucky) can assist there and the other staff act like its not there job. They will watch the line pile up while they are not assisting other customers. Today for instance after waiting ten minutes (with dogs) for assistance and getting cut in front of by another customer, we asked cashier for assistance and she told us she couldnt help us. Even after we explained we had been waiting. All we needed was for someone to grab a case of worms. I have worked in retail before and I was not trained to leave a customer hanging. Very rude. They lost a sale because of that. If the staff cant assist with grabbing worms could you leave them out in a cooler?
Do NOT buy small animals from this store. The girl in the animal department Erica is the rudest woman I have ever met. We recently (less than 3 weeks ago)purchased 2 Syrian Hamsters from this store. We asked numerous questions & purchased everything recommended. Our hamsters were caged separately & cages cleaned, fresh food and water given regularly. One of our little girls randomly passed away last night. I called the store when Erica answered. I wanted to discuss it, more or less to find out if this is common & are we are risk of this happening again should we get another. I was immediately responded to with a curt, rude & dismissive response of their 2 week return policy & there was nothing she could do. When I asked if this was common or more probing questions, it was only returned with more rudeness & an immediate assumption it was our fault. As a business owner, I would NEVER EVER speak to my customers like that. I could care less of the $16 that was lost, the conversation was intended to discuss options of getting a new one and possibly working out what could have happened to avoid it again. Irregardless of what their policy is, they are selling real/live animals. Being educated on when situations like this arise should be discussed with management. Im incredibly disappointed at the caliber of customer service Erica offered & intend to take our business elsewhere.
So normally dont have an issue w petsmart except their return policy. Pay full price but if you return it they dont tell you its a 15percent restock fee. Also they carry raw hide bones n toys which are very dangerous if your dog digests it. The other thing is the Mens Bathroom is always disgusting. Even during Covid when everyone is decontaminating everything and making sure the store is clean... EG Patsmart doesnt keep the bathrooms clean. Otherwise theyre a pretty good Co.
This is an awesome place very friendly and helpful. Low cost. I have a very finicky dog he does not like most kinds of dog food you try to give him. I told the staff about this they helped me out even offered certain kinds that they thought he would love. When I told them just how finicky the dog is they opened about 10 different kinds of dog food for my dog to try until he ate a full can that he liked. The staff offered me a return on the food I had purchased before because my dog did not like it. I love PetSmart and I will always shop here.
Great pet beds! They also carry Swheat Scoop kitty litter, which is my favorite. It is easier on the environment and sensitive noses too! I really do not like the smell of the clay perfume scented litters, so PetSmart really comes through for my family by selling large bags of Swheat Scoop. We order it online, then pick-up in-store (it saves a few dollars to do it this way). The employees vary in their customer service skill, some are fantastic, others are quite bad.
I would give it 5 stars minus the fact that the fish I bought had alot of health issues. Ick and fungal growths. Poor fish 😢. I have had to go back several times over 😒 to replace the fish I bought originally. But the service was great. They really have all your pet needs/wants. #savethefish. As a fish owner I wouldnt want to give any fish disease by bringing home new fish. Id suggest quarantining any new fish from here.
I like this location because it is convenient to home. The staff is always friendly and willing to locate a product or help me with heavy items. The only negative is the stores center aisle is always so crowded. It really isnt a very large inside footprint. Because the aisle is so narrow, it makes it difficult to manuever a shopping cart through the center.
Animals are for the most part very well kept. Reptiles aren’t on sand, and some employees I’ve heard advise against it!The fish are kept in okay conditions. Very often do I see multiple dead fish, they should really check the shelves and tanks more often.Everything else is great.
I cannot say enough for all of the associates who work at East Greenbush Pet Smart. Mike the dog trainer is the best he is so incredible with our dog as well as ourselves, highly recommend his classes for any one with a pup. This entire store is number one with all of our pet needs wouldn’t go anywhere else.
We bought fish and while I really prefer to do my shopping at smaller stores instead of corporate chains, the strange boy helping us (who seemed like hed rather be at drama camp) did know enough about fish suggest limiting the numbers based on tank size, etc. I will buy fish there again. They do have a nice disply.
I have my dog groomed there and have always been satisfied, but my passenger that I brought there today told me she bought 4, yes 4 guinea pigs from there and they all died within hours of bringing them home. PLEASE stop buying pets from pet stores. They are not healthy and they only care about bringing them in and turning them over for a profit. Adopt, dont shop! Your local humane society is your best bet if you want a healthy pet. The humane societies spay, neuter and vaccinate pets prior to adoption. PLEASE ADOPT, DONT SHOP!!!
The staff , always helpful, were especially so on this visit. While many companies (Panera Bread, Chipotles) seem to PREFER hiring millenials that would rather be anywhere else on the planet than work, Petsmart staff were engaging right as we walked in the door, greeting us with a smile and inquiring about any assistance they could offer. Great people!
This PetSmart has always been run well, they generally have anything you may need to find for a pet and a wide variety of pets. There is a grooming section in the back where someone can groom your pet. The stores laid out well and things are easy to find the line at the register is usually short. None of the gauges seem to messy or neglected
We have gone to the PetSmart in East Greenbush many times over the years. However, this has been the absolute worst time. My husband and I went to go get some fish on Friday for our childrens brand new fish tank we set up last week. The employee Erica gave us the impression that she did not want to help us at all. She gave us the impression that she wanted us gone. Erica was disrespectful, idle, inconsiderate, impolite, rotten, rude, tactless, and unpleasant. Also, very unprofessional. How can an employee get away with wearing yoga pants to work?? All we had were some questions about some fish, and the proper food. Those questions never got answered. We wont be shopping here anymore.
I am writing about the East Greenbush location specifically, when cashing out today for the same exact item twice, the item came up with different pricing. I asked the cashier (516041) why this happened and she called a manger named Liz to come and assist her. When Liz came over she said and I am reiterating her exact words :THAT IS THE WAY IT IS, THERE IS NOTHING I CAN DO. I looked at her in amazement and asked her why they would come up different amounts (the items scanned as $19.99 and $26.00) when they were exactly the same. The response was, there was nothing she could do she did not make the pricing! I honestly said to the cashier this has to be the worst customer service I have experienced and I will not shop here again. I asked the cashier for a way to do a survey on my experience and she said to me, you will have to look it up. Well guess what....I did! Honestly, what has happened to a good customer experience? Both these individuals should be spoken to and reminded what it is like to offer good customer service. This customer will NEVER shop there again!
Couldnt get any help .a guy sticking shelves standing next to me for about five minutes .never asked me once if I needed help I went to ask a question but he started to complain about other employees so what I thought could of been a manager.so after a few more minutes I gave up and left . on my way out a rude cashier yelled to me if I needed her I yelled back for what she yelled back have a good day. Was treated like this before in this East Greenbush / Troy store.
I went early in the morning for my puppies first bath appointment. First they tell me they can’t accept the dog because they didn’t have her rabies info...which they finally found. Then I warned the groomer that she is very nervous and skittish. Not two seconds later, I was signing the piece is paper, they freak out because my puppy snapped at the groomer. First of all I warned them she’s skittish and nervous so they should know to be more gentle and slow. Second, you should never go right to a dog that’s never met you, with an over the head leash, in fast motion who is showing that she is nervous and that you were warned about being a nervous dog, without INTRODUCING yoursef. Introducing yourself to a strange dog, letting them come to you, is common knowledge in the dog community but apparently this groomer didn’t know that one important rule. The grooming staff should be better trained with skittish dogs. They had to turn me away because she got so scared she could’nt stand the sight of the groomer that advanced to her so disrespectfully. I’ll continue shopping there but I’m never using the groomer again due to the lack of knowledge, and common sense of skittish dogs. I went to the one in Latham, due to me having dog training at that location, where a groomer knew the common rule, even though my puppy was still scared, everything went off without a hitch.
This store had everything we needed and I loved being able to bring my new boxer puppy Stella inside the store. She had a great time sniffing everything. Two particular associates Jaclyn and Paul were very helpful and friendly. We were looking for things for Stella to chew on and a great puppy food. They had a huge variety of items to choose from. Paul reccomended the Wellness Puppy Food which Stella loves. So much better than the pedigree from the breeder. Jaclyn reccomended some nylabones to help with teething and a puppy kong and to put peanut butter inside to keep Stella occupied. Not to mention they both reccomended the puppy guide to me. So I got in both of their lines and bought one from each of them and saved $58.00. :) These two are great leaders and shall be recognized for their dedication, and hardwork. We will be back. Thank you so much Jacklyn and Paul for your great customer service. PS. Stella and I love your puns Jaclyn!!
Came in for pine shavings, they didnt have any equestrian supplies and I wasnt going to pay $11 for stuff for a hamster cage, when I can get 6× the amount for the same price at from Tractor Supply... Another place that you should sign up for their emails... I got 10% off of Iams cat and dog food that cant be found anywhere else...

2022-05-07The staff are friendly and knowledgeable.Everything was well stocked and I was shown several items to choose from, while the associate listed pros and cons. I walked away with a lot of knowledge and my supplies. The store was not the cleanest, but with human and fur baby traffic, I will overlook it, but still worth mentioning. Have recommended the store to others and I look forward to returning myself. Thank you PetSmart for being a cut above the others❤️

2022-03-31Its Petsmart. Not a whole to say for a large chain corporation. They do have live crickets which is good. Just remember to get them by bulk ad the boxed ones are usually dead.Ive been stopping in on a weekly bases and I dont typically see the same person more than a few times so just know that being a regular means nothing.

2022-03-05I was very impressed with the staff at the grooming area of PetSmart of East Greenbush. They were very friendly and did a great job with my old puggle who is deaf and blind .. she is easily scared. I could tell when I picked her up that she felt safe and secure while there. And she looks great!

2021-12-24Got Santa pictures for my dog on Sunday and have called every day as I have still not received them and I am told either “I’ll pass the message along” or “I don’t know how to access the photos, please call back”. They were super sweet while getting the pictures done and I love petsmart and my dog does as well but I really wanted to gift the pictures of my dog as Christmas presents and I won’t be able to do that now. I just want my pictures :/

2022-02-16Love this place , they’re full of fish. The staff are really nice and help me solve a way to keep my fish alive when my filter was too strong for smaller fish.

2021-11-19The people here where friendly and attentive. Small animal cages where clean and looked cared for. Store is very well stocked maybe a bit over stocked to the point of clutter. The fish tanks are very old and definitely need attention. prices are higher then another local chain store in the area.

2022-05-20If youre looking for small pets and small pet supplies this is the wrong place to look. The selection of animals, accessories and foods are not great. Save the trip and go to Petco
