Careful when ordering from this place. You will be surprised what to find in your noodle soup, a toothpick. After confronting one of the employees they suspected a customer would have done that. This place is a nasty place and smelled like sewage have been backup in the restaurant. Next time when placing food here, just double check.
So I ordered the Vietnamese steak over rice and let me tell you this is the far worse and the most saltiest food Ive ever tried. I couldnt even eat it. I ordered this from door dash and lets just say they dont seem care to how they handled thier food as it arrived with sauce leaking all over the bag and all I seen is alot of sauce from the steak and barely any rice it looked like a soup, thats how bad it was and it was super salty on top of that. If I can give this place zero stars I would!!! Very disappointed couldnt even enjoy the food!!!
This place has been here for ages, which can attest to the quality and the commitment this restaurant has to the community of elmhurst. Its hard to find authentic Vietnamese restaurants in NYC unless you are in chinatown, but this place is as authentic as it gets.Fast service, cheap food, comfortable environment makes this a good choice for lunch after morning service at church or if I am in the area.Below is the bun cha gio (rice noodle with spring roll and veggies) MUST TRY!
One of the better, consistent Vietnamese restaurants in Queens. The owners are transplants from Pho Bang that was located on Pike Street in Chinatown, which closed many years ago.Spring rolls were crisp, not soggy. Ice tea, iced coffee and my soda with condensed milk and egg were all very good. A little too much ice for me, but over all spot on.Will be visiting often..
This is my go to spot for Pho!! Tried other spots around Queens but the flavor of the soup doesn’t beat this spot. Their service is quick, food usually comes out under 10mins. Love the spring rolls with the hoisin sauce. Also there’s parking in the lot right outside in busy Elmhurst.
Ordered from Seamless. 3 Bahn mi, chicken over noodles, and summer rolls. Order arrives super early but is very light. Come to find out all 3 sandwiches aren’t there; driver said he was handed one bag. Call the restaurant and they say they ran out of Bahn mi so they refunded the money. That’s nice and the grilled chicken over noodles was good, but still, 3 people were left out to dry; a phone call would’ve been nice just to let us know they couldn’t fill the order. Very disappointed.
Like beef cubes there and Pho. So I come there for pick up orders mostly. The restaurant itself looks so not clean. And workers look lazy most of the time like if they didn’t want to be there or costumer to come. But it might be because of their own personal problems. Anyway any time I come there I can tell they don’t want to serve you very well. They do it like if we came to eat there for free. So we stopped going there after some time.
Dont get me wrong, the food is not bad and its affordable. However, some employees doesnt follow rules on wearing a mask. Also, the hostess wanted to seat me and my friend in the same table with another couple dining outside, but I told her that they are not supposed to do that. I wonder if others didnt mind sitting next to strangers during pandemic 🤔
This place offered great Pho but the service was poor. The waiters seem to be busy and is not responsive as they are supposed to be. Moreover, the cleaness is a problem. Every time I went there, the floor is always wet. Moreover, there is a strong smell in the restaurant which makes feel uncomfortable. But this place is always crowded because of its cheap price high quality Pho. But I will not go there second time and I will find somewhere else to have the Pho
This is my go to place for Pho in Queens. Its authentic cuisine served in a restaurant that has seen better days but the pho is delicious. I always get the number 26 - cooked well done beef and brisket. The meat is mostly lean, tender and flavorful. The broth is rich but not overly oily. You wont get amazingly friendly wait staff - they are all professional but brusque and quick to take orders and serve. Just dont expect pleasantries. Price has gone up in the last few years but a large bowl of pho is still only 9 bucks. Get one app and youre pretty set.
When we first came in, nobody greeted us and offered us a table. When we got our table, it was still dirty as well as the chairs and the tea cups. When we asked for new cups, the waiter grabbed it and took a while to give us a new one( that was after we asked again). The waiter was very rude. It took us 10 minutes before he asked for our order. Our appetizer came in after the main orders. One appetizer didn’t even come even after asking several times. We would never come back on this place. When the waiter first came and asked to take our order and I said we were not ready yet he said the very disrespectful quote/words “Yes, No, Maybe” HOW DISRESPECTFUL THAT WAITER IS! ,and to apply to that no waiter asked what we were doing. After we ate they didn’t even take the initiative to give us the check. The bathrooms are very very dirty.. I also looked at the kitchen floor and it is so so so DIRTY. I am never coming back here ever again.
They didnt clean the dishes completely but placed it on table. Waiter provides minimum level of service, was not patient enough to take orders. Maybe still good for take-out but I definitely wont go there again. That night when I went, the waitress even pointed to me that they required 12% tips, she even came to the front to her boss and talked to her boss right in front of me in a language I dont understand. You must be kidding when you open up a restaurant but perform your business that way. I should have called on FDA to exam the dish where the remaining of food was on when placing the dish on my table.
The pho is possibly the best in the neighborhood. All of their rice and noodle dishes are delicious as well, but the bahn mi leaves something to be desired. It tends to get crowded for late lunch and dinner, but the staff is always attentive and the food is always good so it is absolutely worth the crowd.
I have been going here for over 20 years. I’ve also gone to so many different pho places. This is the best by far. The food is delicious, and the prices are amazing! The staff is not so friendly, but they’re not nasty by any means. If you want great tasting pho, this is the place to go!
Really disappointed. First of all, I was missing a spring roll which I didn’t mind at all. What really bothers me and made me sick in my stomach is when I found 3 strands of hair in total in each of the 3 meals I ordered. I literally threw up and still feel nauseous right now while writing this review. I am beyond disgusted. This will be the last time I will buy food from here. Completely unsanitary.
Crowded, chaotic and Spartan.I returned one year later. The service was rude, appalling, wait staff sloppy and we had to ask three times for our starter which came after the main course was half eaten. The waiter was so rude we could hardly believe it. Food tastes fine, but presentation and treatment was disgusting. Toilet and kitchen filthy. I would never go there again.
Pho was really just mediocre. It was a bit on the salty side but lacking in the savory department. Summer rolls were stingy with the shrimp and overrun with vermicelli. The spring rolls were pretty standard. Service was okay but thats because we knew the owner. Had we not been tired and hungry from a long day out, we probably wouldnt have eaten here. Its a decent place to grab a quick bite but not the go to for pho.
I have been going to this restaurant for almost 20 years, I used to love the food and attention from owners. But on Sunday , I was surprise that the floor was very dirty, you can see food under tables, there were not utensils available, the little cups to prepare the hot sauce neither, and my big surprise was when I went to use the bathroom and I saw the door kitchen open and I saw a big mess on the floor like lettuce leaves, scallion pieces it was wet , on the tables were pots one on top of the other. My big question is , how they were rated A?
We went here for a weekday lunch. Atmosphere: busy and cacophonous. Staff varied: some sullen and recalcitrant, others nice. The house fried rice is amazing, the seafood combination bland and mostly veg. (get the pork chops and/or pho instead). Its a mixed bag to say the least.
Inexpensive but good Vietnamese restaurant. Not as good as the old Pho Bang restaurant in the same shopping area/parking lot but still good. And now that Pho Bang is closed they really have no other competition. I usually order their chicken over rice or pork chop over rice. They also have great spring rolls. The restaurant is conveniently located across the street from the subways which is great because the parking lot is always full.
Its hard to find a good vietnamese spot in NYC and this one is definitely going on my list. There are lots of tables (during covid times) outside so you can eat your meal as soon it comes out of the kitchen. Im a picky pho eater and I enjoyed my pho Tai (with added meatballs). The broth was full and flavorful. The Cha gio (crispy spring rolls) were delicious - hot and crunchy. We also got the bun cha... a northern dish you cant get in many other spots. As an added plus, its right next door to the grocery store. Will be adding to our ❤️ list.
Food was good. We ate today during Christmas day and its given thatll be packed today. The only con during our time there was they forgot to put our order of springrolls and served people who came after us first than us. We ended up cancelling our order of springrolls bc they already served us the maindish and told us itd take an additional 10 mins to cook the springrolls.( because they completely forgot.)
Pho is good but staffs are VERY GREEDY. I left the tip on the table but after a few yards away from the place the waiter chased me and ask for 5 dollars more for tip. Can you believe that?! He even asked for a specific amount for tip which is very unprofessional. And the tables, spoons, chopsticks and everything that was on the table were some kinda dirty that its like they didnt even bother cleaning it properly. I wish I can give them a negative star for service. Feel bad for them because their pho was good but SERVICE is REALLY BAD
Since time is money, i refuse to spend too much time on this review so Ill make it short and sweet. My husband and I went to this restaurant in the past and had a good (not a great) experience, besides the parking is a nightmare so dont drive there. We recently went back with our 13 year old son and he ordered chicken and rice, plain and simple. The chicken and rice came with crushed peanuts sprinkled all over his plate. I explained to the waiter that the menu item did not mentioned peanuts and our son is highly allergic. He then explained to the woman at the register who came over and pointed out that although the peanuts are not mentioned on the item that we ordered, it is mentioned at the top of the menu.Needless to say, they refused to fix the problem and suggested I purchase another item for our son.Are you kidding me. He should eat it or order another plate without peanuts? The first order did not mention peanut on the items itself so we did not expect something that was NOT mentioned. Its a shame they would rather lose a customer than make a small change.Too bad I cant rate this 0 stars for just the attitude towards the issue...Enough said!
I live one block away from this place so it’s always been my go-to for pho. Prices raised over the years but still my go-to since it’s really just one block away. This place has good pho (most of the time) but really and I mean...REALLY bad customer service. They don’t treat customers with respect and they’re known to chase down customers for more tip money (happened to me once). They don’t deserve “more tip money” because they have dirty utensils, poor service, and they have the audacity to talk about customers in front of their face in their own language. Another time I tipped them $10 because I was feeling generous since it was their closing time and my friends and I were the last ones there. The food is good, but sometimes they don’t put care into their food. I’ve gotten a bowl of pho one time and the noodles were SO overcooked, it fell apart as soon as my chopsticks got a hold of them. The noodles had NO flavor whatsoever, it tastes like it just been boiled with the steam. The broth was mildly warm so nothing in the bowl of soup was being cooked, beef, bean spouts, etc. but that was only once. Maybe they had a bad chef that day. Other times, the pho comes out really good.
Will not return to this place again, I have been going to this place for years and at least once a week and every time I go I was always disappointed with the service that is rude and unprofessional. I always give at least 20 percents tip since I also worked for the restaurant and I know how important it is but it seem like they don’t care. Last week I got there and was waiting at the door for 10 minutes watching this Vietnamese guy pour the left over tea back into the pot (I was shocked). After 15 minutes I was still waiting to be seated and the guy did not even guide me to any table even though there are plenty of seats open. After I finally got seated by that guy I asked the guy right away that I want to order my food because I always get the same thing every time and I already know what I want and he yelled at me and said give me a minute. Then after 15 minutes there another couple came in he greeted them and took their order before and mind you, I was still waiting to order my food. After he took their order I thought he will will stop at my table and take the order but did not that’s when I decided to walk out because I was so upset and hungry.
The restaurants decor hasnt changed since it was opened back in the 90s. Luckily, the food hasnt changed much since then either. One of the more authentic Viet restaurants in Queens and much better than other pho restaurants around Elmhurst. This is the best place for authentic Viet food without all the bells and whistles.
One of the better pho places around. It can get crowded on cold nights. The service is a bit barebones but its generally quick. Ordering take out always feels like it takes a while so its better to call ahead. The taste can vary day to day. Some days the soup is out of this world and others it can be blamd or overly sweet. Still, its a solid pho joint that stays open fairly late.
This place is a staple, if you feel under the weather and chicken soup wont cut it? Go to Pho Bac and get some Pho. The broth is flavorful and restoring, always comes out quick and fresh. They provide you with a plate of aromatics, basil, mint, bean sprouts and lime to enhance and bring out the flavors in your Pho. Personally, my best combination is the beef balls with beef brisket, my wife, however, loves the organ meats and omosa Pho too! If youre not a regular, you may have to ask for tea, but just snag any of the wait staff and theyll happily bring you a pot and cups.
We ordered a pho and a fried rice. The pho came very quickly, but after we waited for over 45 mins for the fried rice, we asked the waiters several times. One of them yelled at us:I already told you, fired rice takes time. If you dont want to wait, you can leave! I was shocked. And asked to talk to their owner, the owner did nothing about this but just responded: we will ask the kitchen. None of them apologized to us!
The place may not be the most clean, but their food compensates. Im not sure what the other reviews are talking about, as the servers never really bothered me nor my family for extra tips. Just leave the appropriate amount under the tea pot and walk out with purpose. They serve pho and Vietnamese desserts that are about average, but theyre only 1 of few pho restaurants in the Elmhurst area.
Fast service with pho that hits the spot. Pho and summer rolls are not as good as other places I’ve been to but the convenience of this places keeps me coming back. They accept credit card and have a parking lot which is the major reason I go here when I have my pho cravings. Sad that pho bang closed due to a fire but this place is definitely my go-to pho place now! Bahn mis are decent also.
I wont recommend this place to anyone because I found bug in the beef rice noodle and more over the waiter doesnt know the difference between beef and chicken. In my entire life I never eat chicken instead I ordered beef and the said its beef fried rice but I landed eating chicken for the first time. With that waiter service is very bad.
This was one of the worst dining experiences I have had in a long time. the waiters were extremely unfriendly... we watched them be rude to 2 other customers... they brought out the wrond order to one customer and tried to convince him that it was what he had ordered. the hanoi pork chop was absolutely disgusting and inedible. the meat was dried beyond chewability. the grilled steak was dried and pounded thin... just inedible... pho bang a few yards away is a thousand times better and more friendly
First lets start with the good. The location of this restaurant is very convenient to the subway. Surrounding it are plenty of other options to eat and even a supermarket to buy ingredients for making something delicious at home. Thats pretty much where it ends. The parking lot is shared so its extremely crowded and not to mention spaces are tight. Just across the parking lot is another well known Vietnamese restaurant which has food on par with what this place offers. Here are where things severely derail from mediocre to last time Im coming back.In a party of four, two ordered pho, one ordered pork chop over dry vermicelli and one ordered lemon beef with rice. We all decided to share a large order of spring rolls as an appetizer. Alls well when the two orders of pho come out quickly. Ok, so the spring rolls should be next, right? Nope, about another 15 minutes pass and the pork chop entree comes out, too charred. Comes with a spring roll but it was fried to the point of no return, blackened and hard. We waited and spoke to our waiter on two different occasions to check on the spring rolls and last entree. They went to the back and never came back to let us know what was going on. We waited another 40-45 minutes, by now some of my party had already finished eating. I flagged the waiter down and asked again to check on the APPETIZER and fourth entree. Again, with the useless Ill check response. Just then another waiter came out with an order of spring rolls but seems confused as to which table it went. After discussing with the other staff, they decided another table (who came in after we ordered) ordered it. That was it, I screamed at them until they quickly went to the kitchen and within minutes, the spring rolls miraculous came out. Almost an hour after ordering, the lemongrass beef finally made its way out... and was dry, tough and lacked any lemongrass flavor.Keeping in mind that the entire staff is filled with new faces, I can only come to the conclusion that what other reviewers praise have left the building along with its former staff. Inexcusable service and management of the kitchen even if the food is amazing, which it is far from. Elmhurst might be known to have good pho and we all dont expect 4 star service at places like these but this place missed the target on all fronts. There are better Vietnamese options within a short walk and I implore anyone to choose them over this mess.
Didnt even get to eat there as no one greeted us or sat us when we walked in. We came in around 3p, it was pretty busy but there were empty tables with bowls and plates on it that hasnt been bussed yet. We waited 5-10 minutes just to see if anyone would greet us or seat us. Nothing. No acknowledgement of our existence. I was so baffled, I said loudly to anyone who would listen do we seat ourselves or what is the deal?!. A very young and inexperienced waitress (my guess is the owners daughter) said she needed to clean the tables and walked away to take an order. So we just left. Lol. Dafuq.
Pros: open till 11pm, less crowded than the other vietnamese restaurant Pho Bang), taste a bit better than Pho BangCons: I went there with my friend on May 31,2016 (around 8 pm). When we done, we ask the waiter for check, the cashier were some kind of busy, so we wait about 5 mins, then we ask another waiter for check agian, and we wait about 3 more mins again, and the check still dont come, so we get up and went to the cashier. We wait her for another 2mins, then we gave the money, but when we about to leave, she is like , where is the tips for the waiter? (and there were couple ppl standing near us). It was totally unprofessional and a greedy manner of them. Ive been there more than 5times but last week was the very last time for me.
Cheap Vietnamese food. Always good to enjoy a hot bowl of pho during the cold seasons, or whichever season. Always quick service here at Pho Bac.We usually enjoy their Cha Gio to start, and one of their grilled options. They have lots of options to go through, which could be overwhelming but great to explore and have a lot of options. They also serve iced coffee and shakes if you prefer those. Seasonal shakes like their soursop and avocados taste great!
Best place to get pho for a cheap price! Definitely recommend getting #29 and spring rolls on the side! There’s only a $0.50 difference between the large and medium sized pho. The large size is enough to be shared by two people, but if your a pho lover like me, definitely treat yourself to the large.
Omg order egg rolls so over cooked and soup beef and tripe no taste bland the soup can first so I ask for my app and then soup they take the soup away brought the egg roll and after I ate my app they brought me back a cold soup at which point I had a little and had to leave . Run !!! Terrible

2022-07-20I used to love this place because the soup was amazing and the prices were so good. But they’ve more than doubled their prices after the pandemic. They’re very cheap with the sauce and want to charge you more if you ask for extra sauce when they don’t even fill the tiny sauce cups they give you to the top. I ordered soup and coffee to go and paid for the largest size they had, only to open the bag on my way home and see that they were only a little over half full. I’m done going here.

2022-01-25The day was perfect for a nice and hot PHO that was the reason I came to this restaurant.Besides the Pho, I also share a delicious Vietnamese Crispy Spring Roll: Deep fried rolls wrapped in rice paper with a mixture of ground pork, chicken, black mushroom, and rice noodles. Served with lettuce, mint leaves, cilantro, and the dipping sauce. The crispy roll was super crushing a bit grassy but full of meat the small brings 4 pieces with makes it perfect to share.I order the #26 on the menu, PHO Chin Nam come with rice noodle in beef broth with roped cilantro, scallion also served with jalapeno lime, fresh basil sprouts I add chicken for$2.50 and had the XL size. The broth had a good taste the noodle was fine, and the amount of noodle and the amount of meat was very generous, the chicken also give that extra touch. The staff was not that great, but this is common for any Vietnamese restaurant. The place doesnt accept America Express credit cards.

2022-06-05I’m speaking as a general pho hater🤣 And this is my FAVORITE pho place so far!Pho is usually not something I enjoy since the noodles become soft without texture in the hot soup as the time goes. However, they have noodles that are slightly more chewy and do not break easily!🥢I had the small (which is still big for me..) beef pho. The soup was really rich and you may taste all kinds of beef part. As I mentioned above. The noodles were still kinda chewy even if I ate slow.I also got a flan to end my meal.. it was not like super best but still delicious! U can know it was homemade with simple ingredients. No artificial taste in it. Recommend it if u want to have a “home-taste” Asia sweet.

2021-12-22Been a regular here for years. This venue always presents delicious broth (pho) with its fresh vegetables in affordable price. My go-to-place when I need a nice delicious hot soup. My usual order is no 22, Pho Tai, pho with rare beef, with extra beef on the side.Couple of days ago, I went there, so glad that nothing change or any reduce of quality & quantity in the portion. At this time when all groceries price goes up, this place still serves best pho in a right price. For the service, long ago 1 server gave attitude in serving, I complained directly to the owner. The owner was nice, apologized & fixed the issue right away. After that whenever I come here, never have any issue. This location has a big parking lot, though it’s shared with other venues. At the end, all I can say, this is the best pho in Elmhurst!

2021-08-19We came here to get pho and we were placed outdoors due to the fact that we werent vaccinated, which is understandable. However, we were having soup in the outdoor dining area and its extremely hot in there. Right next door, they have AC in the outdoor dining area. Which is a smarter idea. This place clearly going cheap on their business. Then my mom goes inside to place a to go order for my brother at home and when she asked the server if the food is ready, he purposely ignored her, TWICE! This is the same server we constantly have issues when coming here. Hes a young, Filipino looking server. Always giving dirty looks. My mom got super tight and wasnt happy already! She was kind enough to leave a $5 tip but after that encounter, she took it back. My mom is also a cashier in a restaurant and she did not like the fact that when she was about to pay, they wanted to charge a 3% credit card fee. That is the restaurants duty to pay credit card fee, NOT THE CUSTOMERS. They dont want to pay this fee so they make the customers pay, luckily my mom carried cash.

2022-06-14I order two items from this crazy restaurant. One item is crispy spring rolls, and the spring rolls meat is raw. They try to kill people. If you want to be alive, don’t eat at this restaurant.

2021-11-203 days ago I ordered a chicken sandwich less dikon. They gave me very little chicken. Charged me $7.00 . After work I went there show her the picture. The lady only gave me back $1.00. I will never order anymore this restaurant. I bought many times chicken sandwich and this is the first time happened to me. I was so disappointed.

2021-03-03My bf and I came here for lunch and ordered the large #29 and #30 combination pho bowls. The pricing for the sizes were S $8.25, M $9, L $10, XL $13.20. My bf was about to order the XL bowl for himself, but good thing he didnt because we ended up stuffed, since we ordered a pork banh mi as well. Havent had pho in so long since the pandemic, so when indoor dining opened up again, we were excited to go.You have to walk through the supermarket parking lot to get to Pho Bac. They are so busy! We waited about 10-15 minutes to get seated on a Monday afternoon at 2pm. We watched as the server had to navigate through 3 doors to bring meals out to the customers sitting in the outdoor dining area. Anyway, we got seated and I watched as something that made me feel super uncomfortable happen. As one of the servers was clearing up the table next to us, he took the teapot and poured the leftover tea within.. back into the machine holding all the tea to warm up. Tea isnt expensive and its watered down anyway.. I dont see what the point of pouring back 1-2 small cups of tea into the machine is. My bf justified it by noting that tea usually pours out one way, so he wasnt too bothered by it. But I certainly was, as I also didnt see the teapots or any reusable items being wiped after use between customers.Weve always been satisfied with the food every time we come to Pho Bac. But watching the tea incident will definitely make me think twice about dining at Pho Bac in the future. Thai Son all the way!

2022-05-20Disappointing and wont return. The rice noodles in our pho were very short about 2 inches long. Also the portions are small for being labeled large. The summer rolls were very bland. The pho soup taste was decent, which was the only plus point. I didnt get the feeling that they were interested in serving decent food.

2022-02-19Ate here with two other people and we each had pho soup #29. Left a 20% tip for what we consumed in the store but prior to leaving, the waiter wanted more tip for the food that I ordered for take out for my family at home. The old lady by the cashier backed up her waiter and told me to leave more tip. I caved in to their scam because I did not want them spitting or abusing my food if I were to eat there in the future. Fortunately, the best Vietnamese food in the Elmhurst area reopened located just 200 feet away in the same parking lot (Pho Bang) and I will never return to this Pho Bac dump again. This restaurant is very cramped, the floor, and tables are always oily and stinky and service is very poor in a sense that they get upset at you for asking for water or for intensils. BTW, the utensils are not cleaned very well and disgusting. The persons or owners manning the cash register are obnoxious and have no people skills what so ever; they have even tried to short change my money in the past so count your change always. The only reason that I ate here was because the pho soup was almost as good as the newly reopened restaurant in the corner, Pho Bang. I do not recommend eating at this Pho Bac store; it should not even be considered as a restaurant by name.
