Very very nice meal...the staff great ..food hot nd delicious ..prices not bad .a little pasta with my chicken Sorentino would have been nice not for an extra 10$ no..who wants marinara sauce on pasta if you are eating a marsala, franchese or any other dish other than a marinara. ..all in all very nice ..its been in business for a long time nd thats why..they do it right. Thank you ...
This is our first time here. We really liked the food, very delicious but unfortunately the service was extremely slow. The main course we waited almost an hour, not mentioned also that we came with reservation but also waited until somebody leaves the table. So, in general not the best impressions regarding first time visiting the restaurant.
Came here for a large group event, called in advance to ask if they have gluten free taken care of, 4 out of 50 or so need it, they said sure, no problem. Everybody else gets pasta & breadcrumbs everything, 3 course dinner with all the trimmings.Garden salad, a tiny thing with some GF pasta, at least that was alright, dinner was salmon with lemon & broccoli, NOTHING for dessert, they said they were out of fruit. We had a vegan in our group similarly disappointed. For $50 a head, thats highway robbery. Bar closed up & disappeared early, no last call.Id leave a 0-star review if Google would let me. You couldnt pay me to come back here again.
Recommended! The food is great and the staff fantastic. Recently there was a small problem with a delivery order, and the restaurant staff went out of the way to quickly address all of my issues. And while doing so, they made clear their attention to food safety is upmost in their mind.
Service was good. Salad and pasta were very average, but the bread and fish were very good. We sat outdoors and I got bitten up by mosquitoes and almost stung by some bees. Beer selection was poor. Overall, nice place, but if someone invited me back, I wouldnt be excited. Merely willing to go.Edit for response to owner:Homie, I was there today with like 50 other people. If you think your place is closed, they have set up a heckuvan operation under your nose.
At the restaurant you have the option of ordering family style or smaller portions. Make sure you make yourself totally understood when ordering. I ordered a small appetizer and meal. The waiter walked away without taking anyone elses order. Had to flag him down and explain so he took the other orders. He obviously still didnt fully understand because they brought us a Large Calamari instead of the small size. Not a huge deal but for some people it may have been a difference in the bill that they hadnt planned on. The sausage and peppers was huge and tasty. The eggplant parm was a little on the smallish side and the chicken marsala wasnt very flavorful. Will order something different next time.
I have been going to this restaurant for several years. I have never had a bad meal and the food is always awesome. We usually order family style and each dish is better than the next. The staff is great. They must be treated really well. We recently started going there on holidays and they are consistently good then as well. If you order family style and dont drink like a fish you can get away with a reasonable bill. I highly recommend.
First off the food was delicious, as always. But the wait time for getting it was unacceptable. Both the appetizer and the entrees took forever. The drinks came quickly so I place the blame on the kitchen staff. The food was hot when it finally came so the wait staff were doing their job. It was a Tuesday night and the crowd was unusually large. The wait for the food was throughout the restaurant. Not sure the restaurant was staffed in the kitchen for this size crowd.Waiters were fantastic.
Great food and service. Excellent appetizers the calamari and fried mozzarella balls were tasty and excellently prepared. The chicken and crab special was tender and savory. The chocolate mousse cake was decadent. The servers were attentive and the food came in a timely fashion.
Nice ambience and wonderful service, but food was meh. I got the veal saltimbocca and the portion of veal was so tiny and was not very warm. It came on a bed of spinach which was very tough and stringy and not hot at all. Definitely not worth the price. Out of our party of 11 people, only about 5 were satisfied with their meal. I might try it again because the service was excellent but thats where it ends..
We love the food here and eat here often. Our favorite restaurant in Huntington. The staff and John are great. Always happy to see us and serve us a delicious meal. Everything is made to order just the way you like. We see many of the same customers when we go to the restaurant for dinner, so that proves many feel the same way as we do. Looking forward to our next meal.
Service was excellent. Atmosphere warm and feels good to be there. The dishes are interesting with small plates or family style plates ..... the chicken franchese was delish. As was the salmon. Salad dressing tasty. The prices?? Pretty typical.....Nothing too crazy .Valet parking I believe is only choice. We would go back.... enjoy!
The food was good for what you are getting, churned out family style italian food. Service was spotty, it was super busy though. The grilled octopus was a little over cooked so it was a tiny bit tough, the broth it was in was super salty but great flavor. They just missed on that one. I had the red snapper, which was good, still a bit salty, but that could be me...Our friends we went with thought it was great. I think it depends on your expectations. All of the food was over salted and this morning I feel swollen from all the additional salt. All in all, it was ok, but I dont think Id go back.
During this uncertain time, Piccola Bussola has yet again wowed us! The special $30 meals were served in excellent portions and absolutely delicious! The Seafood Fra Diavolo Entree & Grilled Octopus App were outstanding! The quick & helpful service was also greatly appreciated. I know my family and I cannot wait to order some takeout again and hope to be able to visit the restaurant soon!
I tried this restaurants price fixe menu during restaurant week. I had stuffed mushrooms first starter and Seafood diavolo and finished with Cannoli for dessert. I have eaten here a couple times and it did not dissapoint, delicious! Good friendly wait staff. Will repeat 🙂
We are sitting here almost an hour after ordering, and still have not received our food. Its our first time here, and probably our last.Update: the food came after an hour, the owner did come over and apologize, saying the kitchen was shorthanded. Ultimately, he sent a plate of complimentary desserts, which was a nice touch, but I have a suggestion as to how it could have been handled better. First, if you are short-staffed in the kitchen, tell the customer that up front and offer an appetizer or salad to keep them occupied and not sitting there wondering. Second, if it is dessert you will offer, perhaps give a choice. Cake is nice, but I would have loved to try one of the yummy sounding gelatos. It all comes down to communication.P.S. The food was good-- veal marsala, chicken Alfredo, and a rosemary infused chicken dish.
One of my favorite italian restaurants! The baked claims, white clam sauce, stuffed mushrooms and new unexpected favorite: grilled octopus with pesto sauce (and crisp potatoes & beans) are so good! I cant wait to get the octopus again. It can be lively, busy and a little cramped sometimes, but the food makes it worth it. Valet parking. Ive been here many times: for dinners, a big baby shower and Mothers day.
A very bad experience for our first visit @ Piccola Bussola. We were enticed by the 20% off coupon sent to us via mail in a little yellow booklet. Discount was usually 10% in this booklet so we decided to try dinner there. Nowhere on the coupon did it mention drinks or when to present the coupon.Arriving at 5:30 PM, weekday night, there were only 3 cars in the lot. We parked, got out and began to walk to the restaurant door. A man came running out saying we couldnt park there. Why not? Because they had valet parking, believe it or not. We might mention, he was not in the lot when we got there. He asked for the keys and moved our car 3 spotsaway, next to the 3 other cars. That night drinks were 2 for 1, confirmed by the waiter. I ordered a house chardonnay, husband, water. Looked at the menu. Waiter took awhile to ask about ordering. Quite awhile. He asked if I wanted another glass of wine so I said yes. Both entrees were not quite right. Chicken scarpariello did not include the usually delicious cherry pepper slices and my shrimp with linquini was good but not spicy or garlicy enough.Asked for the check when done and check showed $22 for two glasses of house chardonnay. $11/glass for a HOUSE chardonnay? Why not charged for just one glass? Asked waiter about this. He said the 2 for 1 drinks on that day were for only rose and pinot grigio and well drinks. When I ordered my wine, he did not mention exemptions. Nor did he say anything when he brought my second glass of wine. We protested but nothing doing after the waiter checked with the kitchen. Letting it go so conditions remained pleasant, my husband placed his credit card & coupon in with the check and the waiter told him, Sorry, sir, the coupon is valid only if you present it when ordering. This was not printed on the coupon. So, the check was paid without the 20 % coupon and, as a result of this poor service, we will not be going back.Friends who enjoy this restaurant tell us we should have asked for the manager but thats not the way it works, for the patron to plead for a discount. Piccolo Bussola has seen the first and last of us.

2021-12-18Beautiful holiday decor. Very friendly staff. Our meal was delicious! I had the salmon and the amazing dessert platter. Gluten free choices. And they made a special sauce for me that was gluten free and was delicious!

2022-06-29My family has had many birthday celebrations a christening and most recently, a funeral gathering at Piccola Bussola in Huntington. John is a wonderful host, so much so, that you think you are in his home. The food is always delicious. The service is excellent. And, they never rush you out. I want to thank John and his staff for making the day of my mothers funeral a little more enjoyable.

2022-01-27We had a late lunch for 17 for family and friends during restaurant week and after a funeral. John and the entire staff did a wonderful job. The choices and portions were abundant. Sure, they added a 20% gratuity but we were so please with everything that we added another 15%. Thanks for making the end of a busy and stressful day so much better.

2022-03-07While the menu shows promise, I found the fare to be average. I had the chicken parmesan. It was done reasonably well but lacked enough tomato sauce to last the whole meal. It was tender and the breading was good, not great. We shared a fried calamari with dipping tomato sauce. Again, not enough sauce but the calamari was tender enough and not greasy. I had espresso to finish the meal which I found to be weak and a bit watery. That left a poor final impression. The service was excellent. While the cost is reasonable, Ive had similar food for less. $100 with tip for two. Ive paid more but felt better satisfied at similar Italian restaurants on Long Island.Id go back to see if Im mistaken. Maybe it was a bad night for the house.

2022-05-08I rarely write reviews but John and company deserve one. Often times when you have a party catered the meal is a step down from the one you would order in a restaurant. That was not the case . We had my son s communion party at Bussolo on Saturday and we had restaurant quality meal times 60..the salad was crisp and fresh the penne ala vodka was creamy, the linguine clams had a perfect Al dente pasta. The clalmara were fresh ,plump and tender not tiny tough rings . The entrees were delicious and large portions almost with almost all bringing home left overs...my family has a alot of restauranteurs, all were very please. There is a kind, attentive and friendly staff. I almost dont want to write this, as to keep this possibly overlooked old style gem under the radar. Thank you John and staff for a great day on a special day for my family

2022-05-20Consistently excellent food and service. Love the baked clams, linguini and clam sauce, shrimp oreganata with spinach and penne. Could go on and on. Price fixe menu also a great option with lots of choices. Terrific job John and team!

2022-06-08Been there several times. Never disappointed with food or service. Entrees are offered in 2 sizes single and family. A family size entree with 1 app is more then enough for 2. Bon Appetit!
