Pine Grove Inn in other cities:
We just enjoyed dinner at Pine Grove. Apps, salad, main course, and dessert were all very delicious. Like many other businesses, they are dealing with being short staffed. This was made up by the friendliness of the manager. Overall we had a very nice dinner to celebrate my Mothers birthday.
Terrible service. Our appetizer came out with two out of the three of our entrees instead of as an appetizer. After we were waiting with our entrees for the last one to come out that’s when the waiter came to ask us how the burger was to be cooked, so they didn’t even start cooking it until after the entrees were already out. We had to wait so long for the third to come out that our dinners were cold. When we brought the issue to the managers attention, we got no apology only an excuse as to why it takes long to cook (even though it was clear they didn’t start cooking it until after our dinners came out). He told us the waiter was new but had no apology for his service. Staff didn’t know what they were doing and food was sub-par. First and last time we’ll be visiting.
Went for a nice lunch with the family and ended up staying for dinner as well. The view and the band just made my day. We will definitely frequent the Inn. The calamari, chicken wings, lobster mac & cheese, as well as the chicken penne were all delicious. My martinis were perfect and also tried the rum punch which I would recommend. My children loved the Crazy Sundae for dessert, filled with treats on top.
Would give less than one star if possible. Went to see our family members band. We entered an empty restaurant and were rudely greeted by one of the wait staff who asked if we had reservations. When we explained we did not and were a party of 5 just in to see our family members band, she states she would see what they could do. After 10 minutes of being ignored,The bartender/server/manager?.after 10 minutes asked us again if we had a reservation. This was after she screamed at one of the wait staff for being on their phone. We again explained we did not and told her we were not there to eat, but to just have drinks. She rudely told us this was not allowed that we had to eat. Really? We had been in the last time the band played there and had no issue. We would never eat here as the food and the service is just plain awful. We left and will NEVER return to this place. We have made sure our family members band will not return as well. No wonder the dining room is empty! The most unprofessional rude staff we have ever experienced. Stay away! There are plenty of other wonderful places in patchogue to visit.
I felt it necessary to publicly post how absolutely terrible this place is... after posting 20 positive reviews for LI restaurants. Read the reviews on yelp too.I have held my singles events at this location 3 times. The look of the restaurant is very old school; lots of dark wood rather dingy but clean. The restaurant had hardly any patrons having dinner, so we used the long corridor section. After been solicited and pursued to book an event at this location, and clearly stating what I would purchase for food and drink for the crowd .. the owner Michael G then tells me I am not spending enough money to continue my events there. So we took our business elsewhere to a lovely restaurant in Islip.I had given them a 2nd chance after having a horrible organized dinner party at this location for my group. Food served at 10pm, orders mixed up and a bartender that didnt even know a red wine from a white wine !It took my members an average of 15 mins to just get a drink from the bar.Lesson learned ... would NOT recommendThe picture below was taken on a Friday night ... some crowd huh?Highly recommend all my other venues which gladly accept our business and business from others - Finleys of Huntington, the Blue Restaurant in Islip, Southside Restaurant in Bay Shore , and many many more...which I have left over 20 positive reviews for many establishments on LI for but THIS restaurant is that bad, that I felt it necessary to leave a bad review forBTW Owner is lying which does not surprize me ... I can prove the pictures were taken in 2018 as we were NOT there 2 years ago.. see public records on my web site www 7 in Heaven com
The Mad Batter Tea Room was absolutely beautiful. My party had such a wonderful time. The decor was exquisite and I have Delia to thank for making our day very special. Unfortunately, when I tried to book another party, I just found out that Delia and the tea room were no longer there. So many of us have enjoyed Delia and this lovely, unique place and now its gone. I cant imagine Pine Grove Inn ever being the same without it. I can only hope that Delia comes back or, at least, opens the tea room somewhere else.
My sister Rosemary and I spent a pleasant afternoon at the Mad Batter Tea Room at the Pine Grove Inn recently. We were transended into another time of grace and elegance. Delia the host and creator of the tea room attended to every detail of our enjoyment. The food was absolutely delicious and presented with the greatest of care. It was a rare treat to be able to suspend oneself into a calm and beautiful existence, from the fine china, to the decor of the tea room and its unique menu of treats. One of my favorite highlight was the Lavender Vanilla rice pudding with wild blueberries. I would highly reccomend the Mad Batter tea room to spend a delightful afternoon with your cherished ones. The tea room is decorated and loosely based on the whimsical Alice in Wonderland where anything is possible and everyday is a great day for tea.
Got together with some friends to remember a good friend Rose who passed away a year ago on April 21st 2017 the waitress was very friendly always asking can I get you something the drinks with very good very reasonable price the appetizer for overpriced entrees overpriced but all in all a very nice place to eat. Had a wonderful time with friends.
Delea, the manager, did a great job with my Moms 80th Birthday Party. The Tea Room was welcoming and beautiful. The food was delicious and plentiful. The cake was outstanding. The staff was so helpful and friendly. The view of the water was an added bonus. I cant wait to go there for dinner. Everyone there put in great effort everything was perfect. I highly reccommend The Pine Grove Inn.
Terrible food way overpriced waitresses work hard but obviously were unexperienced I had beef stroganoff cost over $32 and it tasted like Hamburger helper!!!! What a shame because this used to be a good restaurant they used to have a dynamite prime rib sandwich ( not anymore)now these new owners have tried to make it German style but it ain’t working that it’s terrible!!!
My husband and I just had dinner here with my sister, and it was a very pleasant experience. The restaurant is nicely decorated, cozy, and very comfortable. The service was both gracious and polite. They had a really good band, andthe food was excellent. We shared coconut shrimp and Buffalo wings for starters. Both were excellent. For our entree, my sister had the strip steak which was very tender and tasty. I had the lobster mac and cheese which had huge chunks of lobster meat. Last but not least my husband had a cheeseburger and he said it was really good. We all had dessert even though we were stuffed. Looking forward to coming back in the warmer weather to enjoy a meal on the patio.
My grandmother made the best sauerbraten and I haven’t been able to find a good one since she passed away. The sauerbraten here was the closest I have ever gotten to hers. So happy to have a place I can get good German food again. Highly recommend. We will definitely be back.
Im so glad we came here because everything we ordered was delicious. This was the first time we came as a family and we were in a bit of a rush and let them know and the food was ready as fast as possible and we were out of there in an hour. All six of us loved everything. The pretzel was so soft, hot and buttery. The coconut shrimp were delicious: flaky and sweet with the yummy sauce. The wings were spicy and perfect. The beet salad was sweet and full. The clams were the best we ever had.The burger was moist and big.The english mac and cheese was sooo creamy. It was all perfect. Down to the seats and especially the warm cinnamon muffins and creamy butter. It was also my sisters birthday and they brought us out a complimentary brownie sundae with a candle for her.We will be coming back, for sure. Thanks for everything!
It was my first time at the pine grove last night and I have to say I was very impressed. My waitress Stephanie was a sweetheart and she had the best personality. I ordered the lobster Mac and cheese and it was delicious. The prices were a bit expensive but the experience was worth it. The outdoor view of the river is breathtaking and the band was awesome. I highly recommend their cucumber martinis!
Had dinner there last night fell the prices were out of this world for very small portions $22 for a hamburger,, Waitress was good but you can tell very inexperienced,, if you’re going be prepared to spend at least $100 a person if you plan on having two drinks,, I had beef stroganoff over $32 and I felt like it was truly made from hamburger helper
The restaurant was really nice food was good service was.terrible! Waited for an hour just for appetizers then waited another half hour for our salads! The waitress es were not friendly.towards the end of a very bad service the waitresses were doing shots at the bar. I would not recommend this place to anyone. Sorry
This place is like home. My boyfriend and I always come here and the food is amazing, music is soothing and the atmosphere is just... incredible. I also got proposed here and Leslie and all the waitresses were planning/helping out with all the details, food, roses, pictures, etc. The chefs are extremely hardworking and always put out quality tastes. I felt so appreciated and it was and continues to be an amazing experience. Love you, Pine Grove staff!!
This was my first visit after many years. The decor is brighter and more modern than the original dark wood and antique-looking furnishings of the old days, so its not quite as cozy. The food was OK, nothing wrong with it but the portion sizes are not worth the prices you pay. The waitresses were nice, but after taking our order, everyone disappeared and we had to try and flag someone down to ask for things. Also, the place itself is hard to find because its tucked out of the way in a residential area with no signs to show the way. I actually went there because I had a gift card, but sad to say, I dont think I would have gone there otherwise.
The drive in movie night we attended tonight was pretty good ! The food ( we had the pine Grove inn burgers ) was absolutely delicious and I had the mixed drink special the great Bambino, and that was absolutely delicious too !We enjoyed ourselves very much! Staff was wonderful, they kept coming around to make sure everyone had what they needed. We will absolutely be attending another drive in movie night ! Its a wonderful way to get out during this crazy time we are in.
This place has a classy atmosphere , great drinks, and especially great German specialties and The waitress I had was also very friendly and accommodating. I ordered the steak for two and it came out cooked to perfection, also I never had to ask twice about my drinks being refilled! Would definitely be coming back again!
Went to the Pine Grove Inn for a bachelorette lunch with the ladies. The staff were very friendly and attentive. Our large party was seated right in front of the windows that overlooked the water. All in all I was extremely pleased with the food, atmosphere, and service. I also would like to add that the seats are very comfortable to sit in.In addition, they seem to host many fun events at their place of business. Me and my sister will be going back in May for a yoga and breakfast event outside.
We had a really good, but confusing dining experience at Pine Grove Inn tonight. The food was outstanding! The appetizers in particular (potato pancake, fried calamari and Duck Wings) were outrageously good. My husband and I had German specialties and they were cooked perfectly. My daughter (shes 12) had the Lobster mac and cheese and raved about it. We also had dessert and my husband had a really great German Dark beer. The service was strange. We called ahead just about 15 minutes before we got there and they said it was no problem to seat 3. We didnt even give a name when we walked in and they seated us right away. Everyone on the staff was very friendly. Part of the strangeness was that the other 2-3 tables that were seated (the place was mostly empty) were definitely senior citizens (were in our 40s). The pace started off laid back and eventually slid into so slow it was aggravating. I think our server was actually the bartender. The server who covered for him towards the end seemed really surprised that we were staying for dessert after our meal. The live music was very entertaining and Id encourage you to go on a Sunday evening to hear it! The singer is very engaging. We saw the owner come out of the kitchen, and talk to another table across the dining room from us. He never came over to see if everything was OK and we were the only other table seated at the time. Are we just the wrong demographic for this restaurant? So baffling.Ultimately - food was amazing, would definitely go back just for the cuisine, but the service really needs some work.
My wife and I decided to plan our anniversary party for 60 people here and the staff did such a great job. The food was amazing, the drinks were especially tasty and the custom decor for our party came out beautiful. The event coordinator Stephanie did an outstanding job putting the party together and the bar manager prince did a great job creating custom drinks for all the guests. The service was prompt and professional. I highly recommend this restaurant for parties and social gatherings.
This place is one of the best restaurants in Patchogue. As soon as me and my wife entered, we were greeted by the entire staff. There was live entertainment occurring, and the server gave us the option to either sit near the performer, or in a quiet area. The restaurants in this area usually never give us that option.Once we were seated, we tried their appetizers. Coconut shrimp was AMAZING, topped off with the baked clams. Our entrees (I ordered the classic Sauerbraten, my wife ordered the half roasted chicken) we loved it.The service was outstanding, food was unique, and very very good, and filling. You won’t regret dining at The Pine Grove Inn. We will be back!
I have to say something is off at The Pine Grove. Our waitresses were great but we had made a reservation as there were 14 of us. The first of our party arrives there is NO reservation. Waitresses gets seats set up. Then we order. All orders arrive except one, a steak dinner and it took a good 15 to 20 minutes to arrive. Another party member brought 2 cakes. One was cut into wedges already but other one was solid 8 cake. They never told us there was a $40.00 cutting fee. We complained that we should have been informed of that we would have cut ourselves. The bartender came over when we asked for owner. He said hed make it $20. The cake had four cuts. We took it home.
Great and Authentic Food, When we first sat down at the table they had the cutest napkins made as Christmas trees!! Absolutely beautiful spot, nicely decorated for the holidays. The staff was very friendly! Our server named Lis was very friendly, very professional looking ! was always making sure we was good with our drinks and food!!! I highly recommend this place !! And hope to come back on Christmas!!
I just recently held an event at The Pine Grove Inn and I have to say I was extremely pleased with the whole process. The event coordinator Leslie and entire staff helped everything run so smoothly and made me feel at ease. The food was incredible and atmosphere was perfect! Its located right on the water with a marina in the back so it makes for some gorgeous views. I was blown away by the friendly staff, food and overall how my event went. I cant wait to go back! Highly recommend!
The outdoor patio on the river was a nice way to spend a hot Friday night. Service and burger was good. The bartender on the patio was wonderful. She spent the time playing with my grandson when she didnt have customers. The band, The Patterson Trio was a wonderful added bonus.
This restaurant is very elegant inside. The staff were very pleasant. Their was no wait time at all....as it was not busy. The food was sent back 3x for being under cooked. The food looks great. I suggest you order not the German food.As to you might end up with food poisoning for being under cooked.
It was a pleasant place and a lovely view in the back. It is hidden in a little nook of the area. The food was okay, I had potato pancakes which is one of my favorite things to eat but it was dry. There wasnt enough applesauce to account for it. The service was polite but a little slow, several times I had to get the servers attention.
The food was good, service was good. A couple minor glitches. The beer came with the cap on it, brought coffee without milk, and credit card machine had a glitch when paying. Overall I would come back, and food was decently priced and good. Again all those issues were minor and can be fixed. Would recommend it.
While finding the Pine Grove Inn, on the river in Patchogue, is not easy, its worth the trip. The menu had something for everyone. We started with the crabcake appetizer which was one of the best Ive ever had. It was loaded with crab. We each had one of the German selections for our main course and they were outstanding. Im embarrassed to admit that we even had dessert, and Im glad we did. They had a duo singing and they were excellent. Not too loud,so you could still talk at the table. I did see a few people dancing. I cant say enough about the wait staff. They were welcoming, proficient and personable. It is rare to find dining like this on Long Island. We will be back.
I have too much to write so I will keep it very very direct and to the point. When they finally get the food to your table and if its the correct dish you ordered, it will be great.Try not to ask much of all the waitstaff that looks like theyre all family members of the owner (who walks around the whole time, supervising the dinner floor and not correcting anything). The waitstaff-relatives of the owner, are unable to comprehend much. Example: if you ask for them to wrap your leftovers, they will throw it away. :)Dont complain to the owner when he walks around asking if everything is okay. If it isnt, he wont do anything about it. Youll just waste your breath. I overheard him blame the chef when the table next to ours complained that most of their order was wrong. Psst! The only thing good about the place was the chef! The band was amazing too though! Id actually go back just for drinks and to listen to them. (Husband and wife that sing songs from back in the day! Loved them!!!).Overall, service was extremely slow, waitstaff (even those not related to the owner) were a complete mess (we had so many random people take our orders and ask if we were ok), drinks are warm or in incorrect glasses (if that bothers you....my wine was in a beer glass), food took forever or was incorrect. I wont come back unless I see that they get new ownership. :(
Had dinner here with some family, got good food, good live music, plus friendly and prompt service. Also had a few drinks at the bar and watched a game on the big screen which was nice. Place is really nice to dine in at, has an upscale atmosphere but you can dress casual, is right on the water as well so some nice scenery around. Also there are tables outside overlooking the water and an outdoor bar.
We love the Pine Grove Inn. Went there last Saturday night. The food was delicious and the restaurant is warm and inviting. We heard great music and everyone in my party of 6 had a wonderful night. We can’t wait for the warm weather so we can enjoy the music outdoors and head to the tiki bars!
This place seems like it is attempting to get its act together, unfortunately it just is not there. The restaurant was empty and the service was slow. The server was very nice, however, it was obvious that they were either new or did not have the best understanding of how the industry works. In regards to how our night began, there was no one to greet myself and my fiancée - when we had a reservation- and we waited approximately ten minutes until I finally went to find someone to ask to be seated. In fact, another table approached myself thinking I worked there and asked for assistance. The food was lackluster and shortly after the appetizer was presented, the manager stopped by. He quickly noted the ingredients missing on it, yet proceeded to ask if the food was tasty and then proceeded to walk away to talk to another table. The wine selection was likewise lackluster and the wine by the glass selection was rather poor. All in all, a rather poor experience and I do not plan on returning, which is ashame because the location is actually beautiful.
I hate giving bad reviews, especially to places Ive enjoyed for 30 years, but we just had the worst dining experience of our lives. On Thanksgiving no less. This was our first time back since their post-Sandy reopening, and unfortunately itll be our last.It began with a half hour wait for our first drink, and went downhill from there. The staff was nice enough, but absent and completely clueless. They had busboys delivering food to the tables, and they had no idea what tables the food was destined for. So they wandered around from table to table trying to find who the food belonged to. We had 2 sets of meals and 3 sets of drinks brought to our table that werent our order as we waited and waited and waited. After 1 1/2 hours, and only getting an appetizer, we got up to leave. As I was talking with the manager the waitress came to say our food was finally ready. Since our plan B at that point was to go to Friendlys we decided to stay. Needless to say our moods were already blown. But we sat back down and took a few bites. Theyd run out of string beans and creamed corn. My wifes steak and my turkey were mediocre at best. We took a few bites and left. Nicely they did comp the meal. I left a $20 tip even though the service was terrible, but I figure the staff is depending on tips for their holidays. The one and only positive I can give is that they had very good bread. Ive found that generally an indication of good things to come, but here it was not.
We had never been to the Pine Grove Inn, so decided to go for dinner on my birthday. We had heard one of their specialties was sauerbraten, my favorite. Not only was the sauerbraten excellent , my husband had the smoked pork chop and bratwurst- he really enjoyed it. French onion soup and beef barley soup were delicious. Service was excellent. Waitresses and manager( only her 5th day there) were wonderful. Definitely will be returning.
I will try to keep this as short as possible:I am a previous customer of the Pine Grove Inn but it seems that my other two catering orders were under the previous owner. (which obviously I thought they were great since I catered two funerals for family members)In Aug I called to place an order for another funeral sadly. We ordered full trays of the following items for a total of $1700 with tax and delivery:SauerbratenWeinersnitchelpotato dumplingsred cabbagepenne alla vodkasaladcorn muffins/cranberry muffinsI grossly overpaid for the food but that is my fault for agreeing to the price since previous years for the other catering which I ordered the same food was much less. But my family likes German food and I previously ordered German for my mother and my grandfather and now it was time for my grandmother so this was the only place I know of to get German food and like I said previous experiences have been great.None of this food tasted like German food. Everyone was so looking forward to the meal. Everyone was very disappointed.I called the Pine Grove to let them know that the Sauerbraten was so bad that we were going to throw away the left overs. It was very dry and tough, there was no gravy with it and it was not sour at all.The Penne Alla Vodka was just a big tray of noodles and red sauce. It was also dry. It did not taste anything at all like penne alla vodka. I had to add a jar of alla vodka sauce to the left overs in order to be able to enjoy this $200 tray of penne alla vodka. The cabbage did not have any tang to it. No sourer flavor at all. Just tasted like red cabbage. As you can see from the math above. We paid $1700 for 7 trays of food (3 of them being salad, muffins, and cabbage) so this is an average of $242 per tray!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!They were also a half hour late. This catering was for a funeral so I had guest standing in my house, some I did not know very well, waiting to eat and it was very uncomfortable. They had to come in and set up while I had a house full of people rather than empty house at the agreed upon delivery time. All of the food was eaten and gone except for a half tray of terrible sauerbraten and practically a full tray of penne alla vodka and a full tray of cabbage.I called to complain and ended up speaking to the owner Mike. He was not agreeable and never called me back. This is what I offered to them:Give me two new full trays of really great sauerbraten and penne alla vodkaOr:Give me $400 gift card to the restaurant so I could bring some people down to hopefully eat some really great food and then they will hopefully now feel the desire to come back or order from them for a catering job. (mind you $400 for a group of people (6) to eat there would end up with a bill for more than $400 with food and drinks so money would be made at that time) and a chance to save face with the same people that thought their food was terrible.THE OWNER MIKE REFUSED BOTH OPTIONS OR ANY REFUNDno refund of any kindno new dishesno gift cardThe manager Prince was attempting to make things right and was very nice for the most part but this was out of his hands for the final say. Prince did issue me a gift card for $100 but I do not feel this is fair considering how much I paid for the food and the quality of the food.PS they get their meat from Restaurant Depot which might have explained the quality of the Sauerbraten. The weinersnitchel was also dry with no sauce but more edible than the saurebraten so we did not have any of that left so I did not complain about it.But the bottom line is the new owners dont know how to cook German food and he does not care about his reputation. I was very fair in what I was willing to accept to make this experience right and he refused all options. I was not going to leave a review online if he had given my any one of the three options I gave him so he left me no choice but to share my experience.
July 28,2018-I am struggling to even give this restaurant one star! We have come to this restaurant for many years for special occasions and never been so disappointed. Granted they were just cleaning up after a wedding so no tables were set. Then we sit at a table as one waitress hand our untensils to us using her hand touching the prongs of fork, scoop of the spoon. No air-conditioning on and it happened to be 85 outside. My mother-in-law says lets leave but decided to stay! Took forever to get drinks and food and dont you know it baked clams come out ice cold, caprese salad sloppy. Two waitresses yelling at each other in the dining room right next to us, everyone turning around watching! Totally dissatisfied with the food which by the way extremely expensive, could have gone to Burger King and gotten a better meal! We also had to bring our check up to the counter because the waitress never came back! We will never go here again or recommend it to anyone! We were here for my husbands birthday we had our first family dinner here when it was good over 35 years ago! So I bid you adeu Pine Grove In!
If I could give this place zero stars I would. Made a reservation 5 days in advance and had to wait 45 min for our table to be ready even after I called them 1hr before coming to confirm my name table and number of people coming. Pine grove inn assured me my table would be ready and waiting but it wasn’t ready and we had to wait 45 minutes even with the reservation and call ahead which clearly they weren’t telling the truth. We finally were seated and ordered immediately and after 2 hours waiting at our table NO DINNER came! They kept leading us to believe it would only be a few more minutes each time we asked so we gave them a chance. On top of all the dishonesty they wanted to charge us for more bread claiming they ran out of the house bread and there would be a 50 cents charge per corn muffin as that is all they had left...really?!! After several inquiries how much longer our food would be including to the manager who simplu said he would check on our food—and didn’t even come back to update us sent the poor waitress to lie to us some more and no guarantee it would be out any time soon we ended up telling them we were leaving without dinner on Mother’s day. Total time almost 3 hrs got there at 5pm are supposed reservation left at 7:50pm. Being there with my husband, 2 kids (4 and 13) and 2 elderly parents stressed out on Mother’s Day was a total nightmare. Mother’s Day disaster!! Thank God Checkers was open for the kids to eat, but my poor mom and me...it was a huge disappointment to us on Mother’s day. :( Very understaffed and completely disorganized. Pine Grove Inn Please don’t tell people you are ready for them when you are not—be honest and give people the chance to go somewhere else..the dishonesty of the staff was unbelievable from start to finish..Never again.
This is not the same place as I remember. It must be under new ownership. It was a terrible experience. It was completely unorganized. The appetizer came out with the entree and the quality of the food was lacking. I will never go back. It’s a shame as this used to be the best place for authentic German food with great service.
As a man living right around the corner.. I was hoping that this restaurant would be beneficial to attend on a weekly basis. Unfortunately the service was so bad, I could’ve walked 10 miles and back prior to my food arriving to my table. The manager/owner Prince seems too occupied flirting with female coworkers instead of doing his job. I never even got bread or water to my table because the staff was so busy talking by the bathrooms. I really was let down by The Pine Grove. They definitely have lost my money here.
We decided to eat at Pine Grove Inn and it was a big mistake. The wait staff were friendly and helpful. But stale bread? And the waiter didn’t know what salad dressings were available. We decided to leave. It’s a beautiful restaurant but they have to work on improving the basics.
One of the worst dining experiences of my life. Our table ordered 3 items off the specials list and a few items off the menu. Frankly, the meat (prime rib and lamb) was so raw it was dangerous. Raw shrimp in the risotto... Sending it back did not help, it was returned to the table a few minutes later still raw, but now hacked up.It was a shame, it looked like the meat was quality. The server was doing his best, but honestly couldnt get the Chef (using that term extremely loosely) to do his job. With all of the options in our area, you would think they would have a system to handle a Friday night dinner seating.
We went here for Easter dinner and the food was great. It was better than I expected since I looked at the previous ratings and they were mixed. We had the filet mignon and it was tasty and really had quality meat. We met the owner, Michael and he was so nice, intelligent and really cared about the customers. He is one of the chefs in addition to owning the establishment. Its under new ownership and has amazing potential. Its worth trying for sure if youre on the fence about it. They ran out of mashed potatoes and when we told the owner what had happened he came out with potatoes that were made that the servers were unaware were on the menu. Servers and hostess could have been better with their communication skills, owner is aware but he is not only trying but striving to make it the best. Its on the water and a beautiful location to go by boat or if you just want to find a gem tucked away in Patchogue.
I recently attended a 75th Wedding Anniversary dinner at the new Pine Grove. My dinner was delicious and everyone sitting by me really enjoyed their meals as well. I had the Filet Mignon and it was cooked perfectly. I didnt give it 5 stars because the servers were a little inexperienced, friendly and hard-working but inexperienced. I would definitely go back.
We were thinking of trying this restaurant for Mothers Day but after reading the bad reviews we have decided not to.The owner seems apologetic but if the restaurant had issues with loud music and unfriendly bartenders and slow service who wants to dine there? Our party of seven will look for another Patchogue restaurant to go to.I always read reviews before trying out a new place now so I know my money will be well spent. As you can see by most recent reviews this summer the problems STILL EXIST HERE . WHY IS THIS? THEY SUCK!
If theres a private event, turn around and walk out. TRUST ME ON THIS. So many red flags, I dont know why we stayed.* Ignored for over 15 minutes. The busboy tried to take out menus, thinking we were done with them! That should have been a clue they wanted us to leave.* Refused to serve us a bottle of wine. Why? They were changing their list from winter to spring. Waitress could not name one brand of wine. You know, we have cabernet, merlot, chianti, house-made... I wish I was kidding about the house-made wine!* Switching waitresses after ordering the appetizer trio. New waitress comes out to ask what we didnt want in the trio? What? We didnt say anything, we were excited for everything. Should have left.* The NY Strip Steak was the WORST cut I have ever seen. Barely half an inch thick, all gristle and fat, smothered in gravy to hide the disgusting piece of waste meat being served.* Not surprisingly, had to beg for a steak knife to cut it.* Overcharged the steak $3 from menu to check.By this point, we got the hint that we werent wanted, that we were interfering with the real guests at the party, and we wouldnt leave.Message received loud and clear. Bad food, horrible service, incompetent bar staff. Too many quality options to try again.
The service horrible. We waited for someone to take our drink order for 15 minutes. It never happened so we got our own drinks. We waited another 30 minutes for a server to take our order. After 45 mintues waiting we walked out. I would not recommend this place because of service. Food might be good I will never know.
A little disappointed, 1st time with a groupon, food took a long time to get served, just a burger and a pasta dish, burger was good, chicken on pasta was overcooked. Diet soda was very weak, 2nd one wad better, not perfect. Salad was served with no offer of dressing until asked after being served.
DONT BUT GIFT CARDS FROM THIS RESTURANT!!! After telling a family member that I had never been to pine grove inn, they buy me a giftcard. Directly after getting 100 gc,the restaurant closes. Im out of luck, I even called because there was no notice of them closing. I just heard they reopened, I call the resturant and a very nice lady tells me that they have never closed!!??I then ask her if my giftcard would still be good and she said no... sorry. Not a let me ask a manager or how about a free dessert to try them. Nope, they could care less... so you should care less about going there and stick with all the other resturants in patchogue... I gave been to quite a few and there is even a great German resturant that I gave rave reviews on.. go there!!!!
We are a group of 40 woman that had lunch this past thurs (12/1/16). service was a bit slow but we didnt care we had plenty to talk about. they brought out plenty of warm, fresh baked bread. salads were choice of: tossed, or Caesar. the tossed had what they described as a fresh roasted tomato. I didnt care for it. the Caesar salad look delicious. entrée: sauerbraten w/red cabbage, potato pancake, applesauce (excellent) ; chicken saltimbocca in madeira sauce (excellent), the salmon came with crabmeat on top. now I dont eat salmon, but I certainly would have eaten that piece. just looked great. and for a change no one complained about their meal choices. the sauerbraten was just like grandma used to make and so was the cabbage. the potato pancakes were wonderful. we asked for 3 extra and were obliged w/o a problem of oh I dont know if I can do that, or I have to charge extra. none of that. we even asked for the chef to make an appearance and found he was by himself getting these meals out all together and on time. cant say enough. will certainly be back w/my family. most entrees in $25 area.
Horrible experience. Order Fish and chips, First the batter was uncooked and nasty, then replaced the dish with a worse one!! Served me ROTTEN fish!!! LITERALLY!!!!, yet not the owner or the chef came to apologize or make amends. Put my health in jeopardy and didnt care one bit!!! They should be inspected or re-inspected by Health Department.
I dont really write reviews that often but my god i have to let you all know to stay away from this absolutely TERRIBLE establishment!! Seriously, save your money and STAY AWAY!!! The food is VERY VERY overpriced for the quality. The ABSOLUTE worst of al is the horrendous service!!!! Seriously I have never had such slow service. Applebees has better service than this place... Very unknowledgeable about the specials and drink menus... Managers no where to be found even when i ASKED to speak to a manger. Do they even have a manager? Doesnt seem like it... This place is extremely unprofessional, slow with terrible service. 100% not worth the hefty bill AT ALL, I regret dining here. STAY AWAY!
Atrocious service. Apparently there was some large party scheduled for later in the night so all the staff forgot about the current customers. Sat for about 15 minutes before drink order was taken. Served a dead oyster on half shell, they returned with more oysters. Who would want another oyster after you put a bad one in your mouth. Delays and neglect continued. Should have left after the oysters.
If it was possible to give zero stars i would. Went there for a round of drinks and was charged 371 dollars..stephanie the assisant manager was horible and called my wife a f**n b**ch..the owner Michael commented on the poor staff saying we hire local..with a smile. Dont go here if you are local or not.
Thank your for the worst dining experience in 32 years of my life. You ruined Mother’s day with the garbage you pulled today, you are a joke to the restaurant industry and Long Island. I wish I could give you a negative rating or ZERO star. You don’t deserve to be open the way you run a business, PERIOD!!
Service very friendly and attentive (maybe a little too attentive) food was excellent....saurbraten was just as I remembered from Klaus recipe....no fried ice-cream (:() but bread pudding was delicious....dessert cocktails were fun especially the Godiva. Place has had some changes inside but the original ambiance remains. Owner very nice.

2022-06-06Had a fantastic experience at the Pine Grove in yesterday.... stopped by for an early dinner and immediately fell in love with the amazing waterfront seating and excellent live music, the cover band Mach 5, which played tons of classics and helped make it a remarkable and memorable experience.Seems like this would be an amazing place to have a party or special event. The owner Mike, right-hand teammate Brad and all the waitstaff were super friendly. The ribs were delicious and tender. I took an enjoyable short walk to the gazebo and around the pier and imagined that it would be am amazing place to enjoy a sunset on a date or with loved ones.Highly recommend you check out the Pine Grove Inn and call ahead to make reservations during the times that there is some entertainment ongoing!

2022-02-22My husband and I visited the Pine Grove Inn this past weekend and had a pleasant dining experience. We started with two bowls of French Onion Soup - some of the best weve had and weve tried many such soups at various restaurants! The lamb chops were cooked to perfection and the sides we selected (broccoli and mashed potatoes) were also very good. We had several glasses of the house cabernet, made especially for the Inn - a light and airy wine that was the perfect (and affordable) accompaniment to our meal. We topped our dinner off and shared the chocolate mousse cake which also was solidly good. The servers were cordial and professional, and the overall ambiance was quaint and cozy on a cold winters night.

2022-06-15We had a recent family fumction at the Pine Grove Inn. Good food, great location. My suggestions for improvement are to have the staff better trained on how to wait on tables, and perform some of the tasks more efficiently. Instead of having three spearate trips to a table for different coffee and tea orders, use one tray to carry the three cups,

Food was delicious. The entertainer was soothing.Definitely worth the drive from Queens.Waterfront view was spectacular. And to see the owner Mike coming out greeting us personally, helping out with our order making sure it was perfect to asking if we needed anything else to just being friendly is something that Ive never seen before. Made our dining experience extra special. Will definitely visit again. Thank you.

2022-02-16This place is looking beautiful rekindling its charm and what better spot then right on the South Bay.. definitely big place to enjoy any type of event .. but most of all its a quiet intimate location to enjoy a nice meal and a drink.. huge parking you dont have to worry about looking for parking or walking far.. I was there the other evening and they made a wonderful Chilean sea bass over creamy mash potatoes and grilled asparagus.. 😊👍

2022-07-10We stopped in before a house party. We had drinks and some appetizers which were phenomenal. We sat outside which was so relaxing. The bartender was very friendly. They were setting up the band which was 9 piece and wanted to stay. We will be back for sure

2022-05-16Not sure if this established place has changed ownership recently, but our dinner last night was definitely sub-par, especially when you consider their lofty prices. Service was excellent and attentive, but thats probably not surprising given how few people were there. If I need to scratch my German food itch in the future, I think Ill stick to the Village Lanterne in Lindenhurst.

2022-06-30Went there for Drag Bingo. Took an hour to get a drink and 2 hours to get our food. It wasnt crowded so its not due to volume. Our waiter was HORRIBLE. 1 Is to high of a Rating.

2022-04-12Had dinner reservations for 7pm. Got there, the parking lot was pitch black. The workers/ servers acted like it was their first day on the job. Its more like they all suffered from COVID brain. The service was horrible, but I cant say that since we and others had no service at all, not even water. We ended up walking out after 30 minutes. Just as well since the prices were obsurd. The management should all be fired.
