Really spicy, ask how spicy is the food before order if its your first time there. We had the shrimp in a red sauce but it was almost impossible to eat because it was very spicy. The lamb was delicious though. They have Indian beer that was ok. But overall is overrated considering the flavor. I done recommend it specially if you are a tourist.
Visited this restaurant while I was in NY last week. I would recommend them only if someone wants to eat sweet curries cause they cook with no spice. Chicken tikka was so below my expectations that I had to order another curry which was equally bad. Drinks were alright, hence 2 stars. On top of this, they charged me $125 when I only paid them $105, lucky for me, I checked my credit card statement.
Really like this spot for some Indian food with a classy presentation. I like the chai here and really enjoyed the Malai paneer tikka appetizer, as well as the Punjabi goat. The bread, which is the most important part for me when it comes to Indian food, was a little underwhelming unfortunately, but that could be a day to day thing. Will definitely come here again some time and give the bread another shot!I think what separates this place from the other Curry Hill spots is mostly presentation and vibes. All of them have good food, but Pippali plates things in a very stylish way and has classy restaurant vibe. Also, the service is smooth and quick. It’s no surprise that of all the curry hill restaurants, this one made the Michelin guide.
What an awesome experience at Pippali!!We went there for lunch and were really impressed by the food and cocktails. We started with cardamom Old-fashion, Gulabo (a must try). Both the cocktails were prepared with so much precision and passion. For the food, we were recommended to start with aloo tikki, reshmi lamb kebab, and chilli chicken dry. The aloo-tikki reminded me of my old days in Delhi, the lamb keab was drooling in reshmi butter and was so succulent, and the chilli chicken dry was a perfect blend of Indian and Chinese. We took a break and decided to go for our second round of cocktails, this time we were recommended to try the Indian Sparkle. This drink is hands down my favorite cocktail now; I will recommend people to definitely give it a try. A perfect blend of vodka, st. germain, pineapple, prosecco, and the sparkly edible hammered silver makes it a stellar cocktail.Time came for the main course, and we went with the butter chicken thali and the kerala moilee fish curry thali. Both the thalis were amazing but I have to say their butter chicken, dal makhni, and khameera naan are outstanding. At last, how can I forget our host - Sudipta. He not only suggested us awesome cocktails and starters, but also shared his amazing experience/stories. It felt like a true food and cultural immersion.Impeccable hospitality by the host, stellar cocktails, and authentic delicious food makes it a winner and we will recommend to all out friends:-)
Delicious food! We tried the vegetable kalan (coconut based gravy), achari bhindi (spiced perfectly!), jackfruit biriyani, yellow dal and banarasi tikki. The dal was perfect for a comfort meal, and the kalan was rich and soothing. We couldnt taste the jackfruit in the vegetarian biriyani, but the dish was good nonetheless. Will definitely revisit the restaurant. Wed ordered in dinner and the food came packaged very neatly. No qualms there either.
Great food. Not sure if it’s actually at a Michelin level since I have been to numerous Indian Michelin places especially in London, but the food tasted delicious. The chicken in the thali was a bit cold. Desert in the thali was good. We asked for an ala carte biryani but the chef instead have us a biryani in the thali. Again the attention to details were not there for a Michelin level restaurant. Everything was rushed perhaps it was towards the end of the afternoon when it was about to close. However the server was enthusiastic and helpful. I know Indian food since I have been having it my whole life especially being from East Asia- so yes the food is pretty delish. I would certainly try it again. The broccoli and carrot veg portion in the thali was amazing. It’s one of the few places in NY or PA with thalis( set meals in a tray)
Service was very good but the food took way longer than expected. This looked like the case with everyone around our table. The tandoori mushroom appetizer was watery and tasted like plain grilled mushroom. There was very little flavor besides the mushroom itself. The eggplant bharta and jackfruit biryani were full of flavor. The eggplant was tender as it should be, would recommend this dish! Taking off a star because of untidy smelly restroom with overflowing bin.
Loved the food here. It’s the first time in NYC where every item in the thali is delicious. The chilli chicken appetiser was the best chilli chicken we’ve had in some months. The Punjabi goat curry was delicious. Every item in the thali tastes good. The service and ambiance is good. The staff responds really well and provide good service. The thali looks like it is small quantity, but it’s actually more than sufficient for one person. One of the must visit Indian places.
This place is so awesome.. We work in NY, and try various different restaurants in Lex avenue.. I think this place has the best quality food for Indians (punjabi and rajasthani thalis).. Loved their Chola, panner peas masala, and everything else ! fantastic & courteous service.. This place is new, and still to be explored by many.. but once you go here you will stop going to other restaurants ! way to go, and please keep your standards the same as you grow !
Just 3 words to describe the place : Awesome Indian Food !! This was our first visit and we decided to try out something different .. other than the usual chicken tikka masala & Biryani from the Indian menu... and we were just bowled over by each of the items!Appetizer - Fish Kolawadi - 5pcs crisp batter fried fishEntrees - Konkan Shrimp curry & Chettinad Duck - Too good!!Drink - Gulabi - light rose flavored non-alcoholic drink- Again too good!Being indian myself, never had so many different flavours served at a restaurant.. each taste was distinctly different from the other.. Konkan Shrimp was less spicy and tangy with Goanese flavor .For chettinad duck, duck was perfectly cooked, crisp on outside and soft inside and tamarind rice had the mild flavor of curry leaves.Highly recommended.. ( just book your tables prior your visit!..especially if you are hungry and opting for dinner with friends & family)
Small, quaint restaurant with good staff and delicious food. The only reason I gave a 4 was my drink (Pippali Mojito) was not that great. Hubbys golden margarita was made well, kiddos mango lassi was also good. Loved chicken Tikka and samosas as appetizers. Chicken dum biryani had amazing flavor.
Very tasty indian cuisine with not overwhelmingly spice. Both Chicken and lamb biryani are delicious with the nun on top and bake beautiful. Went in for late lunch, service is fast and no reservation required despite the Xmas time and the location in busy neighborhood.
There was a disgusting PENNY found in my rice bowl. The staff were so unprofessional on how they handled the situation and I felt so gross after leaving the place. I’m writing this review so that people are aware that this is not a clean place to eat at. Avoid at all costs holy….
Been there thrice, experience is overall good. Loved their mint paratha and kadhai paneer. Lunch punjabi thai was also good.Staff is super friendly.Update: After couple of more visits I can definitely say this place has better customer service than all the Indian restaurants I have tried in the neighborhood (and I have tried a lot of them).Biryani presentation is one of a kind - they seal it with flour dough, very nice. Jackfruit goes really well in dum biryani.Kudos!
My friend and I had lunch on a weekday afternoon and the food was amazing. My friend had the chicken tiki Thalis and I had the lamb with spices. It was her first time eating Indian food and thought it was so good she ate everything on her plate and was so full she went into a food coma. The lamb was very tender and flavorful. It was more picante than I originally wanted. The waiter made it seem like it was a mild spice. Not the case. The lentils were everything. The best I’ve even had. And the bread was fresh. The ambiance was great and the music they played was upbeat. I will be returning again For dinner. I cannot wait
My partner and I have been coming here for years and it’s still on of our favorite restaurants in the city. The food is just incredible, some of the best Indian food we’ve ever had, and the service is always amazing, so attentive and lovely. We feel so lucky to be able to dine at Pippali, always an outstanding experience.
I dont usually give one star but for this restaurant, I would give one star. Let me start with a quantity of the food. Quantity of the food was too low. Secondly the service, server never used to visit us and was busy attending other customers. Spice level of the food was not at all upto the standards. They say coconut fish curry but curry had lot of cream in it instead of the coconut milk. We asked for soft naan and we got family size crispy naan which was similar to papadum. After the first disappointment we ordered naan for the second time we the server failed to put order into the system. On the top of this the cost of the food was high. Repented visiting this restaurant, would not reccomend it to anyone.
Phenomenal restaurant. We did a 40 person dinner event in their private space. They provided exceptional quality. Their open bar was impressive -- it includes very delicious drinks. Food delicious. We were able to have a variety of food choices. The hall perfect size. There are beautiful glass windows at the end of the hall that add to the ambiance. However, what really sets this place apart is the owner -- Dinesh was exceptionally understanding and flexible. He allowed us to customize the event in our own personal way. In NYC it is hard to find someone that is flexible --everyone wants you to do it exactly as the package offers. For example, we wanted to have a tikki chole stand and he was able to set that up for us. We wanted many things in a specific way and he was extremely flexible. It will be hard to find a better spot for a large and fun Indian party.
First and last time! We ordered their limited weekend thali and we were asked not to share even tho it was a limited thali. We ordered multiple thalis and the food was horrible. 3 to 4 kinds of entrée and none of it was eatable. Food was cold and flavourless. Service was sloppy. Did not taste like Indian food at all.
You know the saying that good restaurants usually have bad services? Well Pippali broke that stereotype hard! The service was ON, they were diligent with new plates, checking in, filling water, etc. The foods were fire as well, not fire as in hot (I actually wish I had asked them to make it spicy) The flavor was great, the meats were tender, and the sauce with that generations of selectiveed bred long grain rice were infused so perfectly I thought they are almost on par with the Malaysian style Coconut Rice or Chicken Rice, I still like the Malaysian rice more. The best of it all? Its an A. MaZing deal, 2 entrees and an appetizer came out to about $65. The ambiance was also quick chill and moody as well. I will definitely visit again!
Had gone through a little hiccup at the beginning of quarantine, but now is back at the top of the heap, where it belongs. Truly some of the very finest Indian food Ive eaten in NYC, 100% up there with London and New Delhi - real Indian flavors, reinvigorating standards not by goofy messing around, but by simply providing the best possible versions of them. Really awesome. Recent (within past couple weeks) experiences with both ordering in and dining in. If you dont love this place, you just dont like Indian cuisine - its superlative.
Good Food, Very good Service and OK AmbianceWe made reservation for Lunch, when we reached they greeted us, brought complimentary papad (new to New York). We ordered Vegetarian Thali and Kadahi Paneer, with Laccha Paratha. This was best Laccha Paratha, we have tried all the Indian restaurant in NY from High end to low-end.All the entree in Thali was really good, this was worth the trip to Pipali
Pipalli is a gem! It has been our favorite Indian restaurant for years, and our go to Christmas day destination. This year was no exception and as much as we missed the sit down experience with our children, the food we picked up was as delicious as ever. An important note: since this year it was only two of us, we had ample left overs, the great news is that the food reheats easily and tastes just as good!
Came here on a very special celebration day and it was the PERFECT ending to our night. The chef himself appeared! The food was absolutely delicious. They are not on the main street, which is why they should be getting more attention than they do!!! Im saving this place for special occasions. It is fantastic and they make you feel right at home.
I really, really enjoyed this place. As someone who often eats Indian food, both traditional and more modern, this is a happy medium between the two. The cocktails are strong and delicious, and the food itself is just stunning. Samosas are crispy and hot. The tandoori chicken dish I had was juicy and flavorful and perfect. The naan was among the best I’ve ever had and I’ve had some really good naan. I understand why it was so crowded. I’ll be back.
I loved the food here. The flavors were very distinctive and the food had complex texture. The naan was freshly baked and everything was right on spot. The weekend fixe-prix is a great value: everything tasted good and I could barely finish it. The service was polite and I got what I ordered, even though I couldnt understand my waiter.
Walked 25 minutes with a colleague during our break today, Thursday April 29th at 1:30 pm, and the restaurant was closed! Even the out door seating was packed up! Called their phone number numerous times and no one answered! If you guys are closed or changed your hours, update the website! Very inconvenient to have journeyed here to find the establishment closed. DisappointedAnd to think, we were going to order on the site ahead of time, what would have happened if we paid and got here and saw everything closed?! Smh!
Amazing, easily the best Indian food I have had. I came with a large group and everyone ordered something different. Not one dish on the table was anything but amazing. Will definitely be back. Would highly recommend. Also the staff was extremely friendly and knowledgeable.
They have a good variety fo appetizers and entrees , solid options for vegetarians. their samosas are really good. Dont know how often they change their menu but their goat dish ( on the bone) is a must. Service on the other its mediocre. Overall is one of the best indian restaurant I tried in NYC.
Went there for lunch and order a Veg Punjabi Thali. The Thali was sumptuous and did not disappoint. Everyone of the 8-9 items were delicious. The curries tasted like home cooked food. Service was reasonable. Id go back here again to try out other offerings on the menu.
Ive been to Pippali several times now and have had mixed experience. In terms of the food, dinners have been way better than lunch thalis; more coming on that later. While most of us really enjoyed dinners, I wouldnt say the taste is impressive or spicy. Id pick Zaika food over this any day. One of those nights here at Pippali, we also felt very pressured. They always attack the tables as soon as youre done eating which kinda kills the vibe sometimes. I get it you want us to leave so other customers can be seated but theres a limit on how much you can push seated customers. We felt rushed and did not appreciate that.I still wouldnt complain too much about the food at least during dinners although I thought it was a bit bland. With the same impression, I took a colleague to lunch one day and boy oh boy was I so embarrassed. The food taste below average for some reason. Not sure if the chefs are different for lunch vs dinner or is it because it was thali over a la carte. Also, this place is not AYCE buffet type. They just bring you a thali and youre stuck with it even if you want more of something you liked or dont feel like touching something you dont like. :(Either way, we both found it very average and decided not to try lunch here again. Id give lunch a 3 and dinner a 4 bringing it to 3.5 which I honestly think this place deserves but oh well heres my 4 lolBottom line: Dont even consider Lunch here while dinner should be okay but dont expect to be impressed.
Fantastic lunchtime thali plate offerings at great value. 7 or 8 meat or veggie choices all coming with 4 or 5 different small bowls plus rice and naan and dessert for less than $15. Nice decor and good, quick service. Cant go wrong. Usually pretty busy but not so that there is a wait for a table.
Hosted a wedding Meet & Greet party for my sons wedding at the World Yacht on August 26th. 2019 for 300 people. Food was delicious and steaming hot. All guests loved it especially the Jack fruit Biryani. I would highly recommend their catering services for all occasions. Great service
Very nice dinner tonight at Pippali. Service was attentive and pleasant. Ordered mango lassi, samosas, and fritters as appetizers. Samosas were flaky and seasoned with just enough spice to give you that little kick. Fritters were battered and very crispy. Butter chicken and fishermans special were both good choices as entrees. Both were creamy and well flavored. Fishermans special had a coconut base that worked well with the scallops and calamari.
Upscale indian food. Lunch options include a meat selection with a selection of pre-selected sides/veggies/dessert. Quality is great, and prices are reasonable. Staff are friendly, but you can end up waiting a bit longer than expected during peak hours (like lunch rush).
The food tasted medicore compared to other nearby places and costed a bit more too. Service was friendly but slow. Food was made less spicy and flavorful compared to what you get at real Indian restaurants. Like other reviews have said they do tend to forget youre there sometimes. The atmosphere is very nice however but I wont go there again anytime soon
Seriously some of the best Indian food to be had in the city.I went to Pippali with some friends on a Monday night, so we got some enthusiastic attention from the waitstaff. Everyone was super friendly and super quick on their feet - both to get us our food and to join in on our joking around. They made us feel almost like wed come to our friends house for dinner. This was definitely a highlight! A really wonderful dinner, with everything spiced to perfection. I eat mostly vegetarian and they definitely had tons of options, with everything separated out for easy ordering. The aloo gobi matter was awesome, even my omnivorous tablemates were stealing quite a bit of this dish. I am a palak paneer junkie and was absolutely blissed out on theirs - the smoothest spinach mix and cheese, so soft it was like melting butter in my mouth. Perfect green decadence. My friends ordered a bunch of the meat options and said each was better than the last, with everyone proclaiming it was the best Indian food wed had in a long time. For excellent, super friendly service, and near-perfect Indian food (please get the palak paneer, do it for me), Pippali is always worth a visit.
Great food with Excellent Service. Garlic Naan and Paneer Masala was just amazing! There was some issue with the starters that had ordered. When complained they took it back without any question and apologized for it multiple times. We just before the closing time and they were considerate enough to get us extra Naans and rice when asked for. Over all great experience.
Most authentic Indian food that I could find in NYC. Reasonable yet high standards of taste and hygiene. Went with family for lunch every single dish on the thali was delicious. By far the best indian restaurant. Good job guys for keeping the taste of India alive! Would like to visit over and over again!
I found this place a bit over-hyped and mediocre. The vegetarian dishes are not really very imaginative at all (saag paneer, mushroom kadai) and the samosas seem like common frozen brands. Add to that a rather noisy and cramped atmosphere, and there isnt much appeal!
I e-mailed the restaurant but no reply so heres my review:I was here 3 weeks ago for lunch with another friend and because we werent really hungry we decided to share one of the lunch specials. We told the first server we only wanted one, which he looked confused so a second server came and asked if we ordered one or two lunch specials. We told him only one because were not really hungry which he responds with you cant share the food, its like a buffet, no sharing. Nowhere on the menu does it say you cannot share food. Since we were already seated we ended up ordering 2 separate orders, which neither of us finished because we were not hungry enough to eat one plate each. Please re-train your employees on how to address issues with sharing food and do not compare it to a buffet when it is not. Ive worked at restaurant establishments myself and never have I seen the toothpicks and mints/ candies out on a ledge near the entrance/exit, as I was leaving there were 2 unattended children playing with the mints/ candies with their hands, this is very unsanitary. My first visit here was not a pleasant one, hopefully you can retrain your employees on how to address situations properly and review your health code policies.
Unfortunately I had a very negative experience at Pippali recently. I went with a group of 6 on a Saturday night and, potentially because we didnt order drinks, we received terrible service from the beginning. When only one of the people in our party ordered a cocktail, the waiter essentially guilted us into ordering mango lassi. For food, even though we ordered 6 entrees for 6 people, the waiter told us it was too little food (though more realistically it was too little revenue for them) and up sold us on everything from more expensive entrees to more naan ($5 per) than we can finish. Through the whole meal, were were extremely rushed and they aggressively started taking away our plates and offering to box food for us before we even finished. I know that we were rushed because when we left I looked at my watch and we had spent less than 40 minutes at the restaurant for dinner for 6 on a Saturday night. The worst part was even though we asked for the naan to be boxed (since they had aggressively sold us so many) we found out the next morning that in fact it did not get boxed. I wonder what are the chances that our leftovers were just sold to the next customer...
The only good thing i found was the option of thali in NYC. Besides this the onsite staff and especially our server was extremely rude and sarcastic. We visited this hotel as group of 6 people. The server was very unfriendly right from the moment we entered the restaurant. We were not given the option of sharing the Thali which after some discussion we found OK due to hotel policy. But while serving the thali our server sarcastically commented that the Salt and Pepper were included in Thali and we dont need to pay for that. After having our lunch our bill was presented which included service tax (gratuity) of 20%. When we discussed this with our server that please split the bill into two as me and my friend can pay it and provide appropriate tip based on the service we received. But our server was very adamant and reasoned that the ‘Its New York rule to include this service tax in your receipt. Our SYSTEM will not allow us to separate the bill since you are a group of more than 4 people and if you want two different receipts you should have gotten two different tables and had your lunch.’ I have never received such kind of irresponsible and rude reply in hospitality and restaurant buisness. We tried to reason with the server but he instead gave us so many other ‘nonsensical’ reasons for not splitting the bill into two and kept us waiting while he can contact his manager. When the lady working with him tried to understand the situation and tried to wrong him, he gave her the taste of same medicine which we got. After much discussion, debate and not splitting the bill into two we were forced to not just pay a single bill but also the 20% service tax (gratuity) which this kind of service does not deserve at all.I would be cursing myself if i ever think of going back here. The onsite staff at Pippali needs to be more disciplined and customer friendly when dealing with customers.
The lunch thali special for ~15$ was a great deal and the food was amazing. The naan was perfect (although I wish there was more) and the flavours of the meat were strong. Someone came out from the kitchen to explain each dish on the thali, which was a nice touch. The only downside I could see is that I was hit with a massive food coma after.
Pretty good Indian restaurant in Curry Hill. The service was super attentive and it wasnt noisy. We ordered the Khasta Papri Chaat as an appetizer, which was very good. The Jaipuri Kofta was weirdly sweet, but pretty tasty. The palak paneer was excellent. This place is very good, but comparable to other restaurants in the neighborhood. You wont go wrong here, but its not exceptional.
Great Indian spot in an area with tons of good options. You can get regular standbys like Tikka Masala as well as some speciality house dishes. The food is flavorful and the portion sizes are good. The naan bread was a standout - go with the garlic. Its a little pricier than most Indian restaurants but not terrible.
We had the Thali dishes at this Indian restaurant, which was good, though a little spicy on some of the selections on the plate. You might want to ask to see if they can make it more mellow, definitely plan on doing that if I go there again! There were a few snags though, one was that we got there when they were supposed to be open but were told they werent ready yet so had to come back. The other was that it was during a hot day and their air conditioning either wasnt on/not working or the staff preferred the warmer temperature. I suspect the latter. In spite of that the staff were friendly. We went during lunch hours and it wasnt crowded. Suspect it could get quite noisy in there as the decor was all hard surfaces.
Very good samosas and naan bread, though those arent hard to get right. The chicken Tikka masala and tandoori chicken were just plain bad. Maybe we shouldve ordered some more inventive dishes, but if you cant get the basics right I have doubts the rest would be very good.
I find that delicious and light non-vegetarian Indian food is rare in NYC, but Pippali does it right. Their unique menu stands out among the neighborhoods restaurants. Try Pippali before it gets busy. Just be sure to request that the food be prepared mildly if you are sensitive to spice (though they are happy to take the food back if you cannot handle the heat)
By far in last 2 years , I have visited around 15 restaurants in Boston and New York. This is the best Indian food I have ever had . The menu revolves around different options of thali . Since I am a vegetarian, I can only tell about vegetarian food. The Naan I have had here is the softest naan s I have ever had in entire my lifetime ( including all the hotels I have visited in India)
Ive eaten at this place a couple of times earlier and the food was really good. I always found the service to be disappointing. But on our recent visit I went and asked the waiter at the door if he has a table for 4. He showed us a way inside with his hands. I go inside in the middle of the tables and see only a 2 seater. I turn back with a confused look and he asks do you see anything? with a smirk. Im annoyed but I ask how long is the wait and he responds Now thats a better question. If youre thinking he intended this to be funny, youre wrong and he had a straight serious face the whole time. We immediately left the place and dont think will ever return again.
Pippali has an extensive menu of delicious, flavorful and beautifully presented Indian cuisine. The space is part romantic and very comfortable, with casual, wooden tables and cushioned seats, as well as booth seating along the walls. The atmosphere is cozy, the food is wonderful and the manager and staff are cordial and excellent in their attentiveness and accommodation. Get the Channa Masala and Gohst (marinated lamb shank) with Nan. Bring everyone you know to Pippali for great Indian food!
Its the little things that matter the most. There are many reasons for 2 stars.1. Ordered a Thali and the poppadum that came with it was not crunchy so it was obviously not fresh.2. Palak paneer had no taste what so ever. Paneer tasted yuck. My daughter will eat paneer anywhere she goes but she spit it out after she had the first bite.3. Appetizers like Lamb kabab and Chicken Tikka served without chutney4. Dal the most basic form of Indian food was like it was prepared by a kid learning to cook. How can anyone go back to eating such yucky food. May be it was this one time experience or may be for others giving a good review these small things dont matter. All in all am done with this place. Never will go back.....
Nice food but if you have mealpal they dont allow to seat there and eat. I was there with my friend who was NOT a mealpal member and I booked a meal through mealpal, they didnt allow me to sit and eat my meal there. Rather I had to order a Dhabeli which was below average. But the thali was good. Overall average experience!
Awesome authentic indian food. Must try once. Place has a good setup with amazing options. Have a lot of options for alchohol and non alcoholic beverages. A right place to try traditional and awesome indian food. Crowded during lunch hours. Also offer thali options. Highly recommend and encouraged to try.
Worst experience no sense of Indian taste and rude people dont know how they got such ratings. Requested seat for pregnant wife as she was tired and the staff response was I dont care Should be closed soon with this attitude of hospitality..Its sad i have to select one star to post this. They dont deserve to be rated.
Terrible service. I had made a reservation with seated. After arriving I waited at the table for at least 15 minutes and was ignored by the wait staff. It was so clear they had forgotten I was sitting there that when I got up to leave they didn’t even notice. When I told them this they simply said “these things happen...thank you”. No apology. Horrible service and don’t go alone or you might not get served!
Heard great things but quite frankly was disappointed with the food, the chicken curry was only garam masal and other spices, greasy and not tasty at allOverall food was quite ordinary and had better indian food in NYC elsewhere, i wont recommend this to anyoneWine we had was great but piappali had no role to play in it
Never go to the restaurant if you are health concious!!!!!!All their curries are loaded with artificial colors( hence the exceptional red color)we ordered kolhapuri kombdi dish(they have no idea what the preparation is of the actual kolhapuri curry) was dark red in color with absolutely no taste.I couldnt get the red color of my hands inspite of washing with soap.Forget the food the waiter Matthew was so busy attending his important customers and changing their dishes every 10 mins that he didnt bother to ask us even once if we would like to get our dishes changed or for that matter refill our drinks#!!$/#That said rice dishes esp biryani was ok .Guess they put the same boiled chicken in every preparation..eww.. will never bother to go there again.

2022-01-31There are a ton of Indian restaurants you can choose from on this street, but Pippali is a must stop. Classy interior, quick service, and flavorful food! Loved their sauces, which were lightly spicy and not too salty. Our mains were the salmon and duck, both unique proteins and done very well. The salmon was slightly dry and the duck was slightly fatty, but both were still very satisfying. We also started with cauliflower, which was fried to perfection. If you check in on Yelp, you get a free dessert! And if you book through Seated, you can get money back on your order! Try Pippali today with $30 off your first order if you download the Seated App and log in with my code maria1247.

2022-01-02We were extremely satisfied by the quality of food and the service. The thalis were delicious, there wasn’t a single dish which did not live up to our expectations. Definitely a fine dining experience here and a place I would strongly recommend.

2022-02-07Great value weekday lunch menu. The weekday lunch thali menu has a choice of different vegetarian, meat and fish options which all come with naan, rice and vegetable dishes. I was definitely very full after this! The mango lassi was a great pairing. Friendly staff. Overall nice experience.

2021-11-30Found the restaurant by accident walking down the street. The food was great and the drinks as well.We walked in and got a table right away but around 8 pm it got really busy.I only have a couple of remarks.I have no idea why but it was really dark inside. We saw people using their phones flashlight trying to read the paper menu which was kind of awkward. The second point is the staff. Great service and somewhat quick but I couldnt understand one of the servers and it would be nice if they smile every now and then.Another thing was that it felt kind of cramped.Overall great spot with pretty good food ,will definitely back.

2022-05-28We went here for dinner on a Friday night. A little cramped up, expected as it is in NYC. I reserved my table but I think wasn’t needed for a Friday night. We tried papdi chaat, lucknowi seekh kebab as appetizers. The papdi chaat was fresh and kebabs were tender. I tried the Punjabi goat curry as a main dish, this was the cherry on the cake. Rich gravy with perfectly cooked mutton. Pippali mojito was going perfectly with the food, overall awesome experience. The service was very quick too. Full marks for service.

2022-05-13Easily the best Indian restaurant in Manhattan. I’ve coming here for a couple years now and the customer service here is unmatched. The waiters and everyone working here provides 5 star fine dining customer service. The food is also amazing! I have more or less had everything on the menu and there drinks are equally well above average.I love Pipali.

2022-04-29What a lovely experience! I came on during a weekday around 2pm. They sat us down and took our order. The lunch special was enormous and everything I tried was delicious. The lamb was just spicy enough and very tender. The spinach was phenomenal! The lunch special also came with a basket of naan bread which was served hot. Ill definitely be back when Im in the area!
