This place is mind blowing! Great service and amazing food. We had ordered seekh kebabs as appetizers which were served with a mint chutney and a mayo dip. They were absolutely delicious! For the main course we had chicken zalzala with rice and chicken dum biryani. Both the dishes were fantastic. Chicken zalzala had a very rich and creamy flavor and I savored every bite of it. Biryani was served in a clay pot with a large portion size. We finished with Malai and falooda mulgi sticks. Must visit if yall want good Indian food. This place wont disappoint you.
So we had been to Pista House when it first opened and I wasnt so happy. The buffet then was of the kind where they bring you a list of their items for the day and you ask for whatever you want brought to the table. Hated that. This time it was the regular self-serve kind and I was glad it was that way. From the appetizers, the tandoori chicken was pretty decent with the mint chutney. Bread was alright. The mutton curry, chicken curry and fish (fillet) curry were my favorites. Rich, tasty, not watered down unlike some other buffet places. The curries were so good that I had the biriyani rice with the curries and not the meat in the biriyani as that looked too dry for my liking. The mango kheer was delicious.I guess it is $16/17 per head for the buffet, including tax it comes up to $18-ish.We went on a Sunday around 12 and it wasnt too crowded. Id say, if they bring down the price, I might go again, but for the current price, it isnt worth it.
Overpriced food, and likely scammers. Please do not come here.Came here with a group of 12. Ended up with a bill of roughly $360. Thatd be roughly $30 of food per person, so 2 of their $15 entrees per person. We definitely did not have that much food. The prices are ridiculous, and I would not be surprised if the man and lady serving us overcharged us; other reviewers have complained about this too. So, it likely wasnt an isolated incident.Id be less upset about the cost if the food was good. However, the food itself was 5/10 at best, 2/10 at worst. My aunties make better at home. Naan was alright, but the biryani was absolutely tasteless. Portions are way too small. Also, my $5 order of Mango Lassi was served in a plastic cup??? Theres no excuse for that. You use glasses for the water; did you happen to run out when it came to the lassi? Now, 5/10 is pretty good if youre in the middle of nowhere and crave some Indian fare. But this is Hicksville; the whole town is overflowing with great Indian/Desi options. All it takes is seconds to find a far better choice.Décor is meh. Poorly-lit restaurant and cheap chairs. Seemed clean enough, though. Our party was the only one eating, which says a lot about the quality of this place. Please reconsider coming to place. Unless you love wasting A LOT of money on mediocre food. Or are just dying to get scammed. Then, this place may just be for you.
Horrible experience. Didn’t expected this kind of service. We tried buffet on 1/1/20 new year and I’ll explain it in short. Lack of flavor. Lack of variety. Lack in refills. Lack of staff. No one on site (manager/owner) to understand and take care of the situation. Pista house is not only famous for his name, they are well known for their variety of flavor in food and their kind service. Never going back there for sure. 🙏🏼
Ordered food for new year, catering order. Made us wait for an hour. Made everything after we went. Gobi Manchurian and Boneless Biryani was good. Mushroom Masala was sweet. Stuffed Mirchi was not stuffed for half of the Mirchi. Gongura Paneer Biryani was below par. Might give them a try again for appetizers.
Food used to be good but lately not so, food is cold, we ordered garlic shrimp twice, it’s not the same both times, first time they gave it with garlic sauce over some shrimp, second time they forgot what sauce to use, they just put some ketchup and random sauce over shrimp, food is not even warm like it should, mutton biryani was too salty and the pieces looked weird inside and barely any in there, very uncomfortable experience, fish was very bland with no spices or salt, nothing like in the past, overall the quality is poor, I don’t know if i will want to go ever again. Service charge and taxes were high, with the money I’ve spent there I could feed at least 20-25 people with decent meal including dessert. Very disappointed😟. Tables weren’t sparkly clean, I don’t know why we are paying $25 service charge and on top of that asking for tip when you are paying, that didn’t make any sense but I didn’t tip any any away,Overall very disappointed, not worth the money we spent.
I have been to Pista House several times. My family loves this restaurant. The food has always been excellent, this is our go to place for fantastic food in Hicksville! The staff is very polite and the restaurant is so clean and beautiful. HIGHLY recommend this place, you will love it!
Sure it was good in the past. As it stands as of 2021:IT ISNT EVEN BIRIYANI.-They nuked the rice and seasoned fried meat in the oven. Not an even steam on the rice. The counterfeit biriyani had a weird coconut oil after taste and way too much cinnamon. Horrible. Meats are not seasoned properly for the curries. Curried meat not boiled properly as it was too hard. The same spices you use for the gravy should be the same spices you use to season the meat overnite. Meat is bland. People who like this restaurant should get tested for covid as one of the symptoms is having no taste.
If youre from Hyderabad you would already know what they are down for, but if you are one of those who were told about this place from a Hyderabadi person, trust me they aint lying , known for there haleem, I would say the best Hyderabadi food you could get in NY, not a lot of options but I would say stick to the basics, the haleem, the Hyderabadi biryani, mirchiyon ka salan and desserts
Home away from home ! This place. Gives you special attention and the staff is excellent. Added to this comfy setting is the perfectly cooked food which is very tasty , flavorful yet not heavy . Highly recommend eating here . We have tried both the vegetarian and non vegetarian options and making choices isn’t easy !!!!!!
The quality of the biryani has decreased over the years. You can CLEARLY tell when they serve the old biryani, just reheated. Lastly, PLEASE STOP PUTTING EGGS in biryani. If I didn’t ask for it, chances are I do not want it. There is nothing authentic about a soggy hard boiled egg chilling in my biryani, especially if it’s chopped and placed in the biryani. It ruins the flavor and aroma.
The lady (waitress) was really nice and talkative when we were paying the bill. Later we realized that she over charged us. When we called her to ask about the bill, each of the item we bought were billed at a higher price than it was on the menu. Even then, they had charged us about $25 more. She could not give an explanation and she hung up the phone. When we called again, she never answered. Then I realized that it wasnt only us. The customers before us were discussing their bill with her as well. Then I connected the dots, that they must have over chargered them as well. I do not recommend this place. Btw, the food wasnt all that. Disappointed with the haleem! There are better Indian restaurants in Hicksville.
This place was very unsanitary specially during these pandemic times. The glasses and silverware all had food residue. Even the tables and placemats had food left from the people before us. Nothing was cleaned and food was average and over priced. I’ve been here before and had a good experience but they have gotten worse since then. I hope they take this as constructive criticism as their food is good. Just not worth the money for this experience.
Very very poor service. I had a issue with my order. i called them to let them know and the lady just hung up phone. They dont follow the instructions, although I mentioned that I am allergic to something she had yet put that is large quantity and she is like remove it and eat. Very very rude service by the lady that talks on phone and the food really tasted very bad. Its better to eat from Diwan Indian restaurant, they always help me by making delicious food with all the instructions.Lot lot lot of reviews mention about that their customer service needs improvement.and so now if you are viewing this review you should think before.
Recently the quality and quantity of the food both declined significantly while increasing the prices. They don’t serve fresh food at times especially the biryani rice they mix the old rice in it. The lunch special and the chicken 65 boxes have decreased in size. Unfortunately it is no longer a place to go for food.
First of all the lady who takes calls need to learn some manners, how to deal with customers.Their food quality is going low, service is awful and they are over priced since beginning but atleast give some good food and service for the money you charging.I used them since past 3 years, however wont use them instead now prefer traveling to New Jersey for Hyderabadi food.
This was my FIRST AND LAST time. Complete waste of money and time. Food ordered wasn’t fresh and all the different dishes were cooked same way. Curry Tasted same for chicken and goat karrai . We couldn’t chew the chicken or mutton as meat was so hard.No difference between Naan and roti and way expensive pricing .Very Expensive and tasteless.
Terribly disappointed. Coming all the way from massachussets. With a 5 hour long drive . Ordered food over 170 dollars . asked for a small 250 ml water bottle along with the food. (which get 40 pack Poland spring for 3.99) and they did not give it and asked money for it. U lost a customer. Finally to cap things , they forgot to include an item we ordered . So we had to stay back and re order.
Order yesterday take out 3 dishes. Lambbiryani, Chicken biryani and lamb Haleem.Food was very tasty and yummy but in lamb biryani there was almost no lamb and lamb haleem like a few bites in a container.Wasted my money $58 for such a small quantity. I should gone to kababjees instead and enjoyed tasty food with normal quantity.
The best authentic Hyderabadi cuisine in New York City. Gets my taste buds super excited every time I have the food there. Great food and service!! We always had fun and everything was prefect. I would highly recommend going here. The food has never disappointed, the service is immaculate and friendly. The atmosphere is elegant and conducive to talking.
Used to be a routine customer. Hospitality has fallen dramatically. Order vegetable dum biryani, got chicken piece in it and without any vegetables. They were kind enough to replace the biryani for which I had to drive back 15 min and pick up another one. Enough after getting a new biryani, it wasn’t cooked as per the instructions and completely tasted like a fried rice with vegetable. Just rice and vegetables, there were no spiciest in it at all. They did not answer calls, I had to leave voicemails. Ended up going to other place middle of the night to pick up dinner. Such a worst experience.
I used to love this place but the quality has fallen so bad that the food isn’t even edible. Way too spicy and tasteless. Even after repeatedly specifying what I wanted I got the wrong order. Waste of money.Revisited after 11 months, Food was good and quantity was sufficient as well, I just wish that this restaurant keeps its consistency. If they can keep the consistency of taste and spices. There’s no place better for Hyderabadi food.
Way overpriced, below average quality food. Dont get fooled by the name of restaurant. Name of the restaurant is hyderabadi but not food. Poor quality and tasteless food. Horrible customer service. Beware, for dine-in even for party of two they charge 18% service fees + NY State Tax + Tips. I asked manager if 18% service tax is applicable for just party of two and he said yes. Also to clrify this 18% is not COVID fees. This place is rip off. Dont recommend this place.
It was really a very bad experience having food in Pista house. All the items used to be good in earlier days but now it became too worse. Especially biryani was not at all good and cannot be compare with any other restaurants. Now comes to the non veg starters, I don’t know why all the starters taste like same. This.........NO GooD
Unprofessionalism at a professional level... waiters are extremely uncomfortably unprofessional..including the manager... and the food is really old, we ordered haleem.. which smelled like a dead rotten goat.. worse haleem we have ever tasted. The biryani was ok.. nothing special... anyways, this would be our first and last visit to this creepy restaurant...Wont be long until they shutdown.
Update: 30Mar2019 Taking down one more star. Was very hungry and got a Veg biryani from them. Ate like three spoons and threw it away. This time I can see taste and quality and everything gone down completely. It is clear that they have grown greedy and or lazy. Not going back. Such a rich cultural and regional food from south India, which is made a mess here.---------------------------------------------------Previous review.Quality has gone down significantly. Taste is same, but quality is down lately. For that price, expect much better. Bad that they started good and became like any other restaurant. Wonder if restaurants dont realize that customers will know.
Come here for the Haleem, stay for the elaborate and unique selection of kebabs - most of which you wont find at any other place. Frequently use their take-out option, and sit down with family now and then. Quality has been maintained and high since they opened. Love this place!
Stale food, all foods unhealthy, i suppose if a food inspector inspects the premise the place will be closed and the man Sriman would be behind bars for serving food reheating and unhygenic leave alone taste, the food that was for pickup had to be trashed around 80 bucks :(
Great experience. Our server was very nice and kept checking on us. The owner came by and another server/cook? Assuming. They kept making sure we were okay and if they food was great. We really enjoyed the chicken tikka and the handi chicken biryani. Will definitely go back again. Really enjoyed the fact that it was halal, they do not serve alcohol and alcohol is not permitted and the restaurant is very clean. Highly recommend.
Came here tonight with some friends for dinner. It was a group of us so I’m not going to go through everything we ate. Overall I’d give 4 stars for everything. The food was very nicely flavored and authentic. 2-3 pieces of my chicken was undercooked, not a huge deal. The waiters were nice but all appetizers were not served together nor was the entrees or deserts. It was sort of scattered serving. At the end of the night we had to ask someone else for the receipt as our waiter didn’t come back to our table. It’s known for larger groups that gratitude is automatically taken, but we didn’t even know what percentage it was until we got the receipt ourselves. They do not serve alcohol here so you have to bring your own liquor. The decor was plain and simple, lots of wood on the wall and floors. Bathroom was kept clean as well.If I am in the area I will return. More of a take out place than dine in.
Update: The key to get the best taste is Fridays and weekends are when the biryani is the best.Old: This place used to be really the best Indian biryani around Hicksville. but lately because of too much demand theyre starting to give white rice instead of biryani which is really bad on the management part I normally never wrie reviews but since this is the second time Im experienced this kind of messed up food pick up Im forced to write this. They should probably start doing better
This restaurant service and food used to be good two years ago when started .As the time passed quality became so poor and worst service and the prices are over in online orders. For example bls biryani used to be very tasty and now it’s no more that quality and they increased by $3-$4 in uber and grubhub but on there website it’s still same price .All they trying to do is cheat people and taking advantage of customers .Everytime we order food later 8:30 - 9:00 PM they all keep left overs and food will be very bad .If we report next day they would ask us to get the food back (never heard any restaurant will do this way )so they will tell to give same order again .Also whenever you order food they will say to stop in 20 min but if you go there food won’t be ready and we have sit there for more 30 min which is one hour waste do time totally. They threat people like will block you guys if we continue to report food is not good.I never want to write this review but it’s management responsible for all this kind of things and clearly want to all the people just to avoid these people and look for better one .
My first-time buffet visit was almost closing time so certain items were not replenished. Had a to-go order of biryani as well (would not recommend to get closing time as it was the bottom of the pot part with some burnt bits). One of the owners present saw to it that I had a good experience. Learnt that the biryani was made twice daily. Although the biryani lacked authentic Hyderabadi flavors, it is still a good-tasting and fresh biryani with the chicken version being my favorite. The veggie biryani I would not recommend. The fish curry was unpalatable during my first visit; second time it was okay. Place has quite a few vegan options. The boneless chicken biryani seemed like rice tossed with chicken 65 pieces (with the curry leaves and all) and fried cashews. It was interesting, but does not deserve to be called biryani.
Food was good, but was very oily, the menu price is completely different from what my bill said. The manager didnt do anything about it, he sent the waitress over to explain that they are updating the menu. When I was ordering my food I wasnt even informed that the menu was being updated and the actual price for my meal was $2 more, so the menu price for my mutton curry said $13, but my bill said $15, the menu price for the naan said $2 and $3, but my bill said $3 & $4, they said because it was charged they cant do anything about it. Fraudulent prices and it was my first time eating here.
I am from Hyderabad India, and trying the food at Pista House I can assure you, the food was delicious as hell, I ALWAYS ENJOY BIRYANI every year I go to Hyderabad India and Pista House made me feel like I am in Hyderabad..DEFINITELY RECOMMENDED RESTAURANT TO EVERYONE!
Overall, the food is good. You do have to wait for the food a long period of time before it is served. Some of the stuff is delicious like chicken 65 and bijli chicken. Haleem was different from what I have usually had and thats because I have only had Pakistani Haleem which I still think is a lot better than what they serve. Biryani was fresh and good. The green tikkas are a little too minty for my taste and the red tikkas were filled with masala which wasnt so pleasant till I sat there and removed the masala from the rest of them with a napkin. The naans need to be a little bit fluffier, they are good when they are served but quickly get hard since they are super thin. The staff is friendly but they definitely need more staff, especially on the weekend. Again, the food was good overall and I highly recommend to try out the place.
Latest updated Review:I had to EDIT my review now, since I am regular customer here I found the quality has gone down. The dishes are high on spice level and not always fresh. The amount in eatin and take out are NOT the same & if you don’t check your bill they bombard you with additional charges like gratuity and they overcharge on the dishes at the end. They no longer care for the customers cause they got busier than before.———————————————————Previous Review:So far this is the best Hyderabadi Resturant in New York metro area.Authentic flavorsGreat ambianceFriendly staff.Same amount of food in eat-in & take out unlike other restaurant like Paradise Biryani.I highly recommend it.
Initially they maintained food really good , But now they are serving left over food from the plates of buffet , that’s really disgusting , Shane on you Owners !! Don’t get yourself lost in money , when you don’t provide Quality food !1)Chicken 65 is “Worst “( Don’t use fresh Chickn )2)Special chin Biryani - mixed with left over biryani3)Ordered $56 food , No Raita Given ! Poor service & 4)They don’t care about customer Satisfaction 🤬
I have been going to pista house from almost 4 years but the quality of biryani is day by day becoming worst actually We ordered 2 biryanis but the biryani is not at all good its looks like mixed with all the left over pieces..zero rating for the order and they lost one customer who is buying from almost 4 years
I tried the haleem and biryani at Pista house. I came in with high expectations for both. However, the haleems dark color was a little unappetizing and the quantity was just enough for a single serving. There was also a slight bitter after taste to the haleem which may be due to an excess of garam masala. The chicken dum biryani had good flavors. However, I was not overwhelmed by it. Pista house needs to up its flavors and modify its recipes to remain competitive in Hicksville.I decided to try the biryani and haleem after a year to see whether there have been any changes to the quality or the taste. However, I was disappointed yet again. The haleem just tasted of ghee and the biryani was a mixture of boiled chicken and rice. I am very disappointed so I have brought my initial rating down from three stars to one star.
Buffet is too expensive @ 16.99 weekend/weekday rate. Restaurant is located out in middle of nowhere. Food Quality, service and taste could definitely use some improvement. Tried the dum biryani and the haleem - nothing special. The place look and feel could be improved - some decor, better lighting and seating rather looks like a huge take away Chinese buffet joint in Mid town Manhattan.
This BAD Customer service experience started before I even arrived! Making phone order seemed to bother the woman who answered the phone — she sounded annoyed; not helpful or hospitable in the least. She kept talking in telugu which was totally gibberish to me.Thank you TON for your yelling and scolding at us. Prepared to be Scolded if They Make a Mistake. Yeah, You Read That Right. The biryani was out of the world but customer service 0.I will not recommend this restaurant to anyone.
Really good food. The naans were flat, but not sure if they just make it like that. Most places Ive been usually have them fluffy. The haleem is really good would go there again just to eat that. The service was a bit slow despite the restaurant being empty, but the food was worth waiting for.
The biryani was just okay however the haleem tastes identical to the haleem in Hyderabad pista house . Good workBtw for people that are complaining about the haleem containing to much ghee,,,.That’s how authentic haleem is supposed to be. They obviously haven’t had haleem back home
Food tasted good but quantity is lacking. Ordered 3 entrees for pickup but was given rice for one person. Extremely disappointed as food did not turn out to be enough. Not worth the money as its more expensive than other better places like New Chilli and Curry. Quantity not enough not worth it.
06/14/2018 Updated New Alert: They started selling meals s like biryani for 10$ or less between 9-10 PM. Please beware of this, this food was really bad, and I think premade too many days back. I got biryani which really watery taste and chicken was like rubber . And worst part , it made me sick, I guess due to food poisoning. Wish I could change my 1 star to zero.Nothing really special than other south Indian Restaurant around Hicksville.1. Limited food selection and expensive than other restaurants.2. Food quality not great.3. Very congested place, too many tables, 4 people can not sit properly and comfortable on one table.4. Wrong buffet system.. you need to pick the food and You need to ask for naans and desserts.5. Expensive buffet, less selection of food for buffet. Customer service not great. Need to ask so many times even for water to fill out.
I usually like the biryani and haleem here however i am sad about their service. They should seriously look at hiring atleast a couple more people to serve food. The order takes for ever to come to your table. Another instance was during the memorial day weekend where we ordered food 30mins before we reached the restaurant on their website(since they never picked the call for n number of times) and when we reached the restaurant the place was so crowded and i do not see anyone serving at all. We were asked to wait as the food is being packed twice in a 15mins span. After 30mins the lady on the counter says they are out of food. That screwed us an hour and appetite. Delicious food is always enjoyed with good service and punctuality, hope they realise this!!!
Thumbs up for this restaurant. This place has the best special chicken biryani around. Very authentic and it tastes like home cooking. It has excellent customer service highly recommend if you miss back Home Biryani or any other non veg dishes. Overall , the food tastes good. A must try place to Indian food lovers.
Visiting this place Since opened. Ordered take outs and dined in. Recently ordered catering for birthday party. Everyone enjoyed the food from the party. Their food quality and taste never changed. They are “THE BEST” in all in the whole Long Island. Thank you Pistahouse. Best Recommended Place.
Came to know about this place from a friend and was immediately excited to visit it and try their buffet and haleem. Let me tell you, It doesn’t live up to the brand name Pista House is back in Hyderabad.Found hair in their plates, Pani Puri and glasses. Would like to check if they are running a salon in their kitchen.Buffet isn’t good, Haleem was ok, not the taste you’ll get from a Pista House in Hyderabad. Hence the second star in addition to the default one star.If you’re in the area then maybe try their Haleem but don’t make the mistake of driving long distances like me to try it. It’s a decent taste but not the original Hyderabad taste.
They cheated me, I ordered chicken entree that had boiled egg in it. What I received had no boiled egg in it. Every entree comes with a bowl of rice, I have ordered twice with them, a single entree dish and I got rice with them. Now I ordered two entrees and I still get only one bowl of rice and was told the size was different which I know is a lie. Do not trust this place at all.
Being from Hyderabad I am telling, it’s not worth it1.Initially we ordered appetizer, but we got the appetizer with main course after waiting for 40mins.2. We ordered veg Kabeb, after waiting for 20 mins we got chicken kabeb.3. We didn’t get any salad with the food.At the end, We do except atleast apologies, I don’t think so they even worried about customers inconvenience. With this I can tell even service is not good.
Awesome food. Itz a buffet and you have all the items (non veg) chicken mutton fish prawns etc. Fried prawns r mouth licking delicious. Chicken biryani and mutton biryani almost reach the taste of Hyderabadiii. So is Haleem. They also provide Haleem as complimentary with the buffet. Prices are a lil expensive but what is price when your compare with the taste. Haleem price could have been a little less but yeah, overall its a 5-star experience.
This is a new facility opened recently. Been there already 3 times. The food, the restaurant give you the deel of sitting and eating in a Hyderabad restaurant. Very tasty food. Chicken curries , biryani. Even the naans are well prepared. I would like to visit once again before I leave. Came my friends for dinner and they too loved the food.
First thing before I get into the comments I want to first appreciate the staff who work there for their patience !The buffet concept seriously wastes lot of time! You should either call it a regular dine in service or you put a regular buffet model! It took longer than normal time for the lunch !And the staff was too tired to serve which is understandable !The taste was not authentic to be called a Pista house branch !For this kind of buffet model ,the price is too much !I know difference of opinion matters , but I heard the same opinion from few others !I hope you take this as a suggestion !Thanks
We went for their lunch buffet. We reached at 2:30 pm and their buffet time is until 3:30 pm. They were almost out of food and were taking very long to refill anything. The food was extremely oily. And to top it all the buffet ended up costing us more than $18 (with tax) per person! There are so many better restaurants with much cheaper lunch buffet on Broadway street. Dont go here for lunch buffet at all!!
These are guys are cheating people. I took a togo delivery at 9:30 PM and it is literally masala in the biryani and it is so stale that i had to throw. If i have the time i could write a complaint to the local government body over the stale food. Lady in the reception just brags for money and she have no interest in quality. There is just one guy doing all the work and one more inside. Really the restaurant is not providing the quality it had a month ago.
Only Haleem was some what authentic!! Biryani was no where close to Hyderabadi pista house! First 3 days quality and taste was good! Tasted biryani today!! Very spicy could not eat , nearly 10 cloves in one biryani!! If he doesn’t maintain quality he is going to ruin pista house name!!
Food may be alright, not great in anyway, but the worse thing about them is that they try to cheat their customers, such a nasty habit to have for a business owner. Just remember if you try to to cheat your customer for 10 or 15 dollars you lose them permanently. They launched a groupon offer and did not honor the terms in the groupon. They try to add unnecessary charges and increase the bill. Such a cheap tactic. I have never visted this place after that bad experience. It has been a year since that happened. I am not the only one this happened to, even my friends had similar experience
Not worth it. The food is over salted and the balance of spices are totally off. Buffet was a waste of time. 12 noon and I was the only customer. Buffett and an order or naan was total $15.20, just for me eating solo. Many other places in area so much better. Skip.....
Buffet lunch Hands down- I cant believe such a best quality food is available in the area of Hicksville/ Nassau County. I am avid eater of Indian/Pakistani food, have traveled across the country but this place has surpassed/blown my all my previous experiences. From entrance to end, everything is classy. So this buffet is a unique experience, they serve buffet just like 5-6 course meal, each item has the best quality. First they serve you with appetizer cauliflower Manchurian is the best, then they serve with veg/no veg Bar bq dishes like chicken, goat, and fish- all dishes with utmost delicious taste. If you chose non/veg as I am, you get chicken, bar b q meat, ( halal), meat bar bq, and fish fry. Then, they serve three types of curries, ( chicken Zalzala, chicken chicken murgh Masala, shrimp curry ), you hardly fishing that then they serve you with THE world famous (Hyderabadi BIRYAN - chicken and mutton with desi Raita) later they serve you with desert. All experience jaw dropping, cant beat this place for buffet.Decors 10/10Quality of food 10/10Service staff 10/10Owner 10/10 humble manQuantity 10/10.Strongly recommended this economical place.Tips: Must try Hyderabadi briyani with raita and their chicken curry ( I guess zalala and muglai). Also their pickles.
The wait time is a lot so prepare to come little early at this restaurant (2* for that). Some items on the menu are not available yet. The food is little bit spicy to my taste. The gravy is not typical restaurant style. The taste comes from cooking their spices for long time and not from greenchilles (3*).Presentation of food is quite good and appetizing.(4*)
This Restaurant recently introduced a lunch box for $ 9.99 which we can fill tiny container can carry less than 200 grams of food. Myself and my friend went over there today and asked for the lunch two lunch box. We filled the boxes and went to up to the reception for making payment. A guy appeared with an aggressive face where we feel that he’s doing a big favor for us. Asked us to pay 27 dollars for two lunch boxes and a Limca. We wondered asked why 27 !! He doesn’t know what to say and after some kind of gold salesman’s calculation said the Limca is 3 dollars. We said no need Limca. Still 25 instead of 22. As I have picked up couple of times with 9.99 and taxes costing around 11 dollars. He said that if you had taken chicken that’s 11 dollars and mutton costs 12 dollars. If only veg 9.99. So it means two spoons of rice (The container have no space for 3 spoons😀) and one veg curry called basic lunch box for 9.99)The lazy guys answer was ‘’ May be our boss increased the price “😀😀.The food quality is below average.Very poor service.45 minutes to get any item on dining table.Same waiter approaching twice or more to take order after he had already taken order.Such an annoying customer service.A buffet costs 22 dollars where no other restaurants charging in Hicksville.Pista house manager : - Please place good staff to keep your business.
Chicken piece in Egg Biryani, mutton piece in veg biryani.. this is what the customers being served. You can understand how mixing of biryanis will be made behind the screens. The food might be tasty(credit goes to chefs) but the quality is bad as the stored food being served to the customers to make money. I recommend any other Indian restaurants near by instead of wasting money on microwaved food every time. When coming to cleanliness..House fly killer lies just above the Haleem which is being served in bowls on table. The to go containers that contains the mirchi ka salan contains the same dead flies....The rest is explained..
I had a very bad experience at pista house , the food quality was good initially when it opened and now its just another indian restaurant in the Hicksville area serving so called authentic indian food with no taste in food , its just more oil and just putting up spices in unbalanced way. Please avoid this place and go to other indian restaurants in Hicksville area with almost similar or better taste with less price.
Being a Hyderabadi, I have missed Hyderabadi Haleem n Biryani a lot in USA but no more. I would suggest everyone to visit Pista House to have authentic Hyderabadi taste. All the dishes are awesome n totally tastes exactly Hyderabadi. No other place in NYC have authentic taste of Hyderabad other than Pista House Hicksville. Come with family n enjoy. 🤪😋😋
I am sorry to say this but it needs a lot of work. I was there in the opening week. We had a group of we. Service was a problem. I am not sure f it is the staff or the slow kitchen. They do not have experience or know how of handling such a business I believe. The food quality was also not so par.I hope the good reviews are not by friends and family. Will not give then another chance. Most probably not.
Awesome experience. Mr. Sriman and a younger gentleman (forgot to ask his name) made great suggestions with the food selections. Went to taste and ended up purchasing for a small party. Cant wait to try their other selections especially the kababs that Mr. Sriman was urging us to try.Definitely worth visiting!
Theyre authentic Hyderabi cuisine experts! From the delectable mutton Haleem and the Biryanis, with the Chicken Bijli being the best amongst curries, they do a fabulous job at BBQ chicken n mutton as well. Definitely recommend for a non-vegetarian and vegetarian alike.
Went for dinner today. First asked the server for suggestions over different varieties of briyani. He respondedI dont know sir. You choose. We were like..uh okay.Ordered plain old dum briyani and Naan. The server asked, Would you like the briyani first .I said sure.Nothing happens after that for next 20 minutes. Remember,This was on a weekday at 9pm. There were hardly 4 tables filled . After 25 minutes, Naan comes in.Surprised that briyani was yet to come, esp when he suggested to bring the briyani first. Anyways, we joked about it and waited for briyani. Then come the briyani. Believe me when I say it was one of the WORST ever briyani. These guys were so good the first couple of weeks and now after so many months, its so worse.Never AGAIN. With rude staff and lethargic owner, end is very soon for them.
Yikes! I was totally sold just when I heard Pista House but man I was shocked! The haleem is no way, anyway near the legendary Hyderabadi Haleem, nor was the Biryani. The taste was not fresh and submerged in Ghee. And Biryani was a disaster, definitely not Hyderabadi. Or did I go on the wrong day?Sadly, Chicago still holds the Hyderabadi food magic And Pista House is light years away from the authentic taste of Hyderabadi cuisine.
Service is suppppperrrrr slow. They need to hire more people. 2 people for all those tables arent enough! Setting is nice so is the food if it comes on time. Its horrible and kills the mood when they bring one dish at a time. And not just appetizer, everything came 10 mins after another. I will probably skip going there and just do take out cuz food taste good!
The owner lady who stands at the billing counter is very greedy for money. She somehow or the other way adds additional charges. Check your bill twice before paying money. Coming to food quality, its average. If you pay using groupon check for the redemption amount 30$ ( 30 $ worth of Coupon they have in groupon for 15$ ). Service charges are applied on her own will.
If I have an option to rate 0 star, I would definitely do it.Placed an order for pickup on phone. Person on phone told the order would be ready in 20 minutes. I went to pickup my order around 30 minutes.I was told order is getting readyin 10 minutes. I waited for 1 hour to receive my order. Front desk Person has no idea what they were talking.Advice: stop giving fake promises to costumers and dont let them wait for your mistake.Food was OK. I am very disappointed with there service and the way they treat costumers.I would definitely not recommend any one to visit this place.
I ordered chicken 65 and egg biryani from Pista House to go , first thing chicken 65 was not upto the expectations and egg biryani had chicken pieces in it . Which is not good , egg biryani just had plain rice and fried eggs but no masala , I wouldn’t recommend any one in Hicksville to go there !
This place is garbage. The owner said he is Hindu and are claiming to be selling halal food ?!?! Why??? They lied to us so I left my order. The Manager is extremely rude and started to curse in the restaurant. I left my order and will never be going back. This restaurant is a waste of space in Hicksville...just close it already.
Guys this is a highly important message for all the people who are viewing this.....I have been working at this restaurant for over a period of six months and i it is really shameful that the restaurant is known well for exploiting the people who works in it monetarily be it servers or chefs.U guys must be wondering reading the previous reviews that how come the service is so bad of such a good restaurant where the food tastes so good ill tell u the reason is so because the hourly wage of the people working here is 6.5 $ which is far far below the minimum allowed wage as per the NY LABOR LAW.Plus the its the first restaurant where the tip box lies somewhere inside the table where the cashier stands she is the owners wife of this so called reputed restaurant. She forces the customers to come up to the counter and pay the total amount by credit or debit so that the whole tip goes to the restaurant. They make new people work the whole day telling them that ur whole day shall be counted as training with no pay. This restaurant should be shut with no business as cheating people and not paying them making them work is no way of setting up a reputed business.Lets come to the food guys...As a server for six months let me tell u the inside story behind the screensThe biriyani rice that the owner claims as the best biriyani in town contains the rice which is three days old microwaved for 8 minutes before being served and the non veg platter served during the buffet hours as appetizers on the table which incase when half eaten by customers and taken behind the kitchen and the unused chicken kabab pieces are then served to the next customer as appetizer in the buffet.Guys please read the whole thing before visiting the restaurant to eat food.....A restaurant where the microwave is more active than the kitchen grill.
The worst place I’ve ever been to. No respect to customers, only one waiter for the entire restaurant. Worst service!!!!!! Owner lady is very greedy and cheaty and over charges!!!! I hated this place. For all the good reviews posted over here are the result of( write a good review -> take discount) yes it’s true!!!
I mean I have tried the food from different places and I have never eaten the way I ate today... it’s like everything is so delicious.... I don’t know who hates it but it’s highly recommend you try it yourself.... this place will take over all Indian food joints soon... good luck to the owner see you soon!!
😒😒 Really upset. A friend recommended the place I called them at 5:00pm Saturday they said the restaurant is open. Once we reached there the restaurant was closed. I called again they said we will open at 5:30. We waited we went into shop at 5:40. The doors were open but team was not in the mood to serve. They said we will open today at 6:00pm. We left and really enjoyed our food at Kababjee.
Worst restaurant ever , ordered food on grub hub and called them to add extra masala , the order comes there is no masala in the biryani . I called the restaurant but the owner defends and said there’s masala and he packed the biryani with his own hands . I recommend none of my friends to visit this restaurant.
Tried there paneer tikka and my wife tried chicken tikka.Paneer tikka was flavorful but was little bit on drier side. However chicken tikka was good as told to me by wife.Quantity is less as I am into paneer tikka and had it from few other places so I know by comparison that it was a little less. Level of spices were good so all in all 4 stars for now.
Very bad service, someone directed us to the table when we stepped in and didnt even care of giving water or menu. We waited so long and no one bother to care, even the management people are moving around the table but didnt notice for long time. So we stepped out of there. And the concept of the buffet isnt that great.

2022-04-28Hi Foodies! Firstly sorry this would be a bit long review but its worth reading.Briefly- Please I dont suggest anyone going to this restaurant Also just dont see name and go its not the same taste as pistahouse everywhere. We went to this restaurant on Friday all the way from Boston. We called the restaurant before we reach the place whether everything is available and is it OK if we order over the phone. They said us to order over the phone. Our order was 4 haleem, 2 Mutton biryani , 1 chicken biryani, panner tikka and couple of Non- veg appetizers.Coming to the service, A lady was serving our table she got the appetizer, haleem and the biryani. Then we recognized the quantity of biryani was way too less. As the bowl was shallow. As seen in the pictures. We asked the lady the biryani quantity is too less her response with rude behavior was we served you more quantity then what we generally get we were like Ok thought not to argue with her.Coming to taste, The haleem is tasteless generally we see haleem with ghee but here they have water in it you can see that in the pictures. Coming to panner Tikka there is spices nor salt just the food color. Then we called them and asked what is this they accept that panner was marinated 1 hour back so it was there mistake and said will remove from the bill. Haleem they said they would replace it. They replaced the haleem and got the same haleem which is of water instead of ghee. Coming to biryani, mutton biryani was too salty we cant even eat. Chicken biryani they are out that I guess. We got mutton meat in it and that was also salty as it was the same rice just added the chicken meat to it.Coming to billing, Initially over bill was around 284 something after taking out the above said items. It came down to 160.Thanks for reading. I hope this would be helpful.

2022-01-12The lunch special is an unbelievable deal. I dont think you could get more anywhere else for $9.99. Seriously the naan is the size of a small pizza (photo isnt justice), plus plenty of chicken and rice. The taste and spice is perfect.

2022-06-26Haleem is what Pista House is famous for, but this Pista House is ruining that fame! Not only it has loads and loads of ghee (I am talking about an extreme amount here), it also always seems to be old (not fresh at all). Let me tell you that the taste is good, which makes you feel like eating it, but your stomach can tell its unhealthy right after. They must improve its quality, they make it very tasty, just make it fresh and with less ghee, please!

2022-02-04Not only did the food itself blow my mind, the whole experience here at pista house was great. The staff were incredibly thorough and friendly and it felt as if we were treated with a warm hug via our taste buds. The gobi Manchurian was INCREDIBLE, I’ve had this dish at other restaurants before but this place tops it all. Everything was spiced and flavored to perfection and portion sizes were quite generous. 10/10 recommend!

2022-04-17Worst experience ever! Biryani was cold, tasteless , bland and not fresh at all. The restaurant was filled with raw meat smell. 18% service charge is not worth for the absolutely no “service” as such. Credit card charge without prior notice is unacceptable.

2022-06-27I drop by here whenever I’m in town for work. The food is delicious and served quickly. The waiter is always prompt and polite. The serving sizes are large and they’ll give you to go containers.
