A friend of a friend invited me to this spot -a bit out of my normal hood. What a great spot - intimate with a twist on Italian. Told it gets crowded with the flu blown Columbia population. Service was sharp and bartender top notch. Seemed like would be good for dates, but also for bigger groups (6-8)
Good eats. The tomato sauce was to die for. The eggplant tower was much smaller than I was expecting but was so so delicious. Highly recommend. Also ordered the artichoke as an appetizer. Dinner entrees were the mushroom chicken and ribeye special.Tried indoor dining for the first time here. Felt sufficiently spaced away from other diners.
I really loved this place, and so glad I chose it to host a family dinner last Saturday. Our waiter was hilarious, personable, and very sweet (I wish I got his name again to thank him) - he was taking orders quickly, talking to members of my family, and making sure we all were comfortable with what we ordered. Oysters were fantastic, pastas and tuscan bean ravioli were so delicious, and the fig gelato (even I was surprised) was out of this world! Even though they were out of limencello, our waiter was able to get us some dessert wine on the house. Thank you for your amazing service, I will definitely be coming here again!
It is easy to walk right by this place but you should definitely take a closer look as the food here is very solid and well priced. The spaghetti was a hit with our vet picky child and the fish soup hit the spot for me. There is a surprising amount of seating here and the place has very friendly staff.
Delicious Italian style meals. Organized a school event here. The owners were really nice and easy to work with. They worked with our budget and very accommodating. A beautiful venue for a small party of about 50. Really liked it here. Only problem was finding street parking.
Nice restaurant. Friendly staff and owners. Good food. My only complaint are the inconsistent food portions. Ive been here numerous times for breakfast and the potato portions are always lacking (no joke) 4 small cubes on a plate. Come on now... Also there have been times where weve both ordered steak and eggs and one steak is twice the size of the other. Otherwise, we always have a good time and enjoy our meals for the most part.
Incredible Italian escape in Morningside Heights with to-die-for fresh pasta using premium ingredients. We had the mushroom fettuccine with truffle oil and the lamb pasta topped of with the coconut cake. Beautifully cooked and presented inside a lovely atmosphere. Scott and Jacey were a dream team behind the bar and served up some gorgeous cocktails, including a special request by us. Cant recommend enough! Well be back!
MADE IT ONTO MY BLACKLISTI have been going there for years, on and off. Thought of it as kind of cute, decent food, nice staff. Few days ago I decided to have a work meeting there and made a reservation for 20. Because of Covid, some people dropped out, and we ended up being 11. Guess what, they charged me for the the full 20, saying they had to stock up the kitchen because of my 20 guests. Really? Hard to believe, because anything we ate was off the menu. They even charged the beverage cost for 20, when my 11 guests only drank 3 bottles of wine and a handful of sodas. There wasnt even a willingness to compromise. Thats such a scam and worth reporting to the Better Business Bureau. Now to the food: Caponata was good. Not the best I ever had, but good. Meatballs: bland. Nothing special, not enough spices, not enough salt . I can make them much better. But the most disappointed I was with the Tiramisu. You guys know there has to be a significant amount of espresso in there in order to give it the necessary punch AND moisture? Now, my tiramisu was dry and tasteless. Will I come back? No. Would I recommend it to friends? I would loose them all...
Really good food, particularly the roasted garlic bread and penne. On top of that, they had nicest outdoor setup for COVID times I’ve seen in the city, as the lighting/seating is done really well and it’s on a relatively quiet street. I recommend highly before it gets too cold
Located on the edge of Upper West Side, this place can offer warm and relaxing atmosphere while youre being served by very friendly and polite staff! While it is Manhattan, prices are not high and in my humble opinion its better to tip the difference that you would pay in Downtown - members deserve it.Another good thing is that this restaurant isnt overcrowded with tourists as there arent many people who knows it, mostly locals I think.Ive been lucky to find it a very long ago and the fact that it runs for nearly 16 years can say a lot by itself. Give it a shot and youll definitely become a returning customer!Salute!
Pisticci is a great place to have a casual and delicious Italian meal. Their menu consists of comfort items like spaghetti and meatballs, polenta, garlic bread, and ziti with cheese. They have a great selection of salads and fresh vegetables.Eating here, you feel far removed from the usual long wait times and crowded restaurants of lower Manhattan. It is peaceful here, cozy, and the servers are pleasant. The place is a beautiful place to eat and their food always satisfies. Whether you want a classic cheesy pasta or something for complex , Pasticci will have what you are looking for.
Disappointed by the service ! I was met by the hostesses and was informed that I couldn’t order the coconut cake because the kitchen was busy !!! Really are you baking the cake !! I work in the hospitality industry and I would never ever ever treat a customer like that ! I will always make the imposible ! Posible !!
Come for the fresh made pasta, stay for the desert! Every single thing we tried here (a group of five, we each ordered something different) was absolutely delicious. The pasta was cooked to perfection, holding its shape nicely but almost melting in your mouth. The portions are generous, but you can share a desert because it is completely worth it.
Pisticci is never a fail. The Maltagliati and White Bean ravioli had always been my wifes and my go to dishes. The staff is always very welcoming and attentive to needs. Bartender makes accommodations. Ex. Of the Maple old fashion is too sweet... hell lessen the syrup. While we have go to dishes this is also our go to restaurant for visitors and travelers.
Its a good thing I dont live around the corner from Pisticci. I walk there and back (4.2 miles) just so I can feel like a deserve whatever I order. The cocktails are interesting. The food is fresh and well prepared. The outdoor seating is cute and comfortable and the inside seating is pub like. Bathrooms are clean and spacious. Hmm....what to order??? I have never had anything I dont like and if theres an ingredient I dont want (like the hearts of palm in the incredible fig/goat cheese/arugula salad). they dont get funny if you ask the chef to hold them. Fig season is waning so you might have to wait for that until net year. I love how eager to serve you the wait staff is. The bolognese sauce is better than my own and I can never not order the burrata appetizer, even with raw instead of roasted cherry tomatoes. Go HUNGRY!
Unfortunately this place was very disappointing first situation was my friends (4) and had to wait for hostTo finish an order. She talking her time and did not look like she wanted to serve us. Don’t even acknowledge us that we were standing there right in front of her face.I go inside and the other stated we had to wait until she was done. Finally we were situated. Took for ever for a waiter ., place was empty. The waiter very courteous polite very nice young man. It took very long for us to Order a drink , we had to ask for straw, we had to ask for bread. We ask for particular drinks they didn’t have particular margaritas so I finally asked for a Coca-Cola by the time I got it it was water down. The margarita we ordered which salt came with no salt and it was water down. The host was keeping this young man from serving us. Enough was enough I got up and had a courtesy I paid the Coca-Cola which I did not drink and the margarita that was not touched. This was on a slow Sunday afternoon. We work at Columbia University and wanted to try this place. Unfortunately from 1 to 5 I’ll give it a one bad host service. We will not return again. Oh one more thing we are Latinos.Shame on them and shame on the boss or owner that don’t check this behavior. The worst situation ... who says no to cash money??THEY DO🤦🏽♀️
Absolutely fabulous. The food was delicious, the atmosphere was perfect, and the staff were excellent! I highly recommend this place to anyone searching for a great meal. We had a larger party and everyone ordered something different. Literally everything looked amazing Get the garlic bread - its life changing.
This is a really nice Italian place if you want to enjoy traditional meals with reasonable prices and good atmosphere. The bad thing thats why I put 4 stars is that they no longer accept cash I understand the covid situation but cash is a valid payment method in the country and shouldnt be arbitrary taken apart with no disclosure before you enter the restaurant. Anyway we annoyed first plate artichokes with the special seasoned and sauce from the house and is just delicious with a glass of white wine, followed for 2 pasta dishes and meat balls as side dish and red wine. The portions are pretty good and as I said the price for the Quality is correct.
This place is best experienced at brunch time! Great cocktails and italianate brunch items. Staff is great, brunch time menu is fab! Love how they have designed their outdoor seating—heat lamps are a nice touch. Practically feels like I’m at my fave rustic Italian brunch spot in the village.
Pro tip: they don’t take cash anymore! (I have to mention this because a lot of their regulars are families visiting Columbia students from overseas and they can’t always pay via credit cards.)Nice vibe, freshly made pastas and they have some exciting specials (ask for prices ahead of time if you don’t want any surprises.) The indoor dining space is huge which makes you comfortable in these times and their outdoor seating also has a cool vibe to it.Desert options are worth calling out — the tiramisu is really special.Service is hit or miss depending on how busy they are
Nice friendly place, excellent service. The food was disappointing. My carbonara was too dry so I sent it back to the kitchen too add some pasta water to the dish. It came back with extra cream. I like my carbonara the traditional way with no cream. My friend ordered the mushrooms pasta. It too was disappointing. The mushrooms were tasty and well cooked but the dish as a whole tasted very flat, one note. It needed some brightness such as extra parsley or lemon zest to brighten it up.
Wow! What a find! Amazing, fresh and homemade food. High quality ingredients. Cocktails delicious. The burrata and garlic bread sooooooo good. The ravioli was so fresh and perfectly cooked. Chicken- excellent. The menu was delightful. Desserts - to die for! Best coconut cake ever. We all left stuffed. Definitely will go back. Oh- the service was incredible. Ambiance so relaxing and festive. I would give 6 stars if i could.
Food and service are great, but it surprised me that the waiters and waitresses are not wearing masks anymore. (Only the kitchen staff are wearing masks. Pandemic is not over yet....) It feels quite scary since they talk to so many people every day. I am worried about their health as well as ours. I really love the restaurant but this makes me hesitant to go back in the near future.
Pisticci is reliable, reasonably priced, has good ambience, and has a menu that accommodates picky eaters while rotating in enough interesting food for people who want a change. Its been my go-to for a nice place in the Columbia area for many years because its always a good experience. Do try to make a reservation though, it gets busy.
The service team is very warm and rather suave. Its a beautiful restaurant, with a sort of cobblestone cavern in the back emulating a wine cellar. And the food is delicious, with rich flavors. They evidently use high quality ingredients. Good portions, too. Id definitely recommend if you want Italian, sans pizza.
WOW YUM WOW YUM I say. Dined there last night with 4 friends. We were inside; the only party in their big back room so hearing each other was not a problem (one of the concerns that I had about this great place prepandemic). The food was outstanding, including the spinach salad and mozzarella/tomato salads that we shared. I had the seafood linguini special, with clams and mussels cooked to perfection (meaning that the pasta was al dente and sea food not overdone). Friends had other pasta entrees and they all cleaned their plates. I got some leftovers to enjoy for lunch today. Service, also, was perfect; gracious and prompt.
Really charming atmosphere and an incredibly pleasant staff. Unfortunately my interestingly described spaghetti with home grown spinach and prosciutto was rather tasteless and quite greasy (..not made with high quality olive oil). Their house wine was much better than usual and they were generous. Ill go back and try another dish because I loved the atmosphere. I hope the food improves.
Great service, high quantity ingredients, home made pasta but the sauces were terrifically bland & under-seasoned. I may give them one more chance and hopefully be able to change this review but if I can cook better at home for a fraction of the cost the only stars Ill give are for the positive things I mentioned.
Pisticci is a great place overall. Very good food, good drinks, and excellent service. Personally I think their menu could be much better though. They have a couple dishes I love like the lamb one but besides that I dont care for the other combinations. They have this goat cheese appetizer thats delicious. Lovely atmosphere.
It was a wonderful experience. Everything was absolutely delicious, including the drinks. Desserts were fantastic too. Our waiter was very attentive and accommodating. The place has a neat ambiance to it and there are original paintings on the walls available for sale. If visiting Columbia area, I’d definitely recommend stopping by.
Great place thats lined with vintage decors, to spend a cozy evening with Italian food. Ideal for family, groups as well as dates. Customer service is amazing as the staff members are all quite warm & friendly. Further, their captivating live music is absolutely worth experiencing. The Tuscan Bean Ravioli on the food menu is a must-try!!
I came here with a close friend and we had a great time. This is the best Italian food Ive ever had at a restaurant. It tasted like a home cooked meal from a true Italian home. Service was great and on Sunday evening they have live Jazz music. This is a nice place for a date or catching up with friends. Cant wait to come back.
Pisticci keeps getting better and better from year to year. The food is terrific, the atmosphere is very cozy and they have an impressive wine collection. A top restaurant within walking distance from Columbia University area. It feels hidden away on a side street, and it is!
Honestly, every time I come to this place Im surprised at how good a time I have. Even though there werent any tables, we got to eat at the full-service bar, which was nice. We got the house red wine and I got the spaghetti, which is the least expensive dish on the menu, but delicious nonetheless. The wine was midway between sweet and dry, and very tasty. Overall, a very positive experience.
Italian restaurant with fresh pasta. Food was great, tasty enough for me to think about it the day after. My friends also really enjoyed their food. I took off a star because the service wasnt the best. I called in advance and was told that I couldnt make a reservation, but that if we were there in the next hour, wed get a table. No table was available when we got there. Then when we sat down, we were immediately told that we needed to be done in exactly an hour and a half due to a reservation. We also ordered a dish and asked if we could make a change. We were told the change was fine, but then we were charged for it.Overall, Id still come back, as these errors may be due to Friday evening, but it wont become a regular spot.
We joined friends here for a birthday celebration, but found the food and service below average. Although the Italian cuisine and family-run, homemade from local produce is a fine idea, the quality of final results - what we were actually served - was not special in any way. It is definitely upper Westside, Columbia University style, but the output is, to us, not a good dining value.
Very nice staff and cafe-style atmosphere. I enjoyed my time there, and the prices were decent, at about $15 a dish on average, some a little more expensive depending on your choice. Had the delicious coconut cake, recommended by our waiter. Only thing is that the portions were a little small for me.
Local Italian restaurant with a nice menu and cozy vibe. The pastas are all generally tasty and satisfying proportions. The main issue is with the bit of rough-service. The staff means well, but all too frequently says cringe-worthy, bristling comments like:No you cant order appetizers now, and main courses later because our kitchen doesnt know how to handle it.orYou dont have a reservation right now? I dont know if we can seat you, but I have to check. (The restaurant is half-empty.)orOur house-red wine is... red wine.etc....But such is the exciting life on the edge of Harlem.Overlook such service, and youll be happy with your meal at this local Italian outpost.
Had the Fettuccine al Funghi and the ministrone. I loved the fettucine noodles which appeared to be made with more egg yolk richness because they are yellow and very good. The mushroom sauce is all mushroom! It maybe could have used more liquid but this is probably due to having to get it carry out due to the pandemic protocol. The ministrone soup, although not a traditional recipe - no beans, or pasta for example, is very good even though its more like a hearty vegetable stew.
Amazing veggie burger and sweet potato friesssss! They also have great drinks and the vibes are great. Staff is always nice too. They also have a hidden spot downstairs for weekends and maybe private parties? Its dope.Overall, small and cozy but great food and drinks at reasonable prices.
Sometimes it feels surprisingly hard to find a decent Italian restaurant in NYC, Pisticci is quite good though! The eggplant appetizer was very good and we enjoyed the lamb Ragu and Michaels pasta. Everything is priced well.My only complaint would be the garlic bread. Some things just shouldnt be fancy.
Great Italian. I walked this place maybe 100 times before we decided to try it. Didn’t look like much from the outside but it’s huge inside. The menu is extensive and the food is very very good. The price per serving is also very fair and their cocktail are very good.
As always Pisticci delivered on everything a restaurant should do: delicious food with great, attentive service in a beautiful setting. The food is always delicious at Pisticci, thats expected. With a farm located upstate in the Hudson Valley, the quality of the ingredients in their dishes is always superb. This even applies to cuts of steak and seafood, although Im not sure they are sourced from their farm. The service was spectacular, with our waitress paying close attention to our party and making sure all our needs were met. The ambiance created by the setting at Pisticci is always welcoming and cozy. This restaurant is great for all meals, even non-formal meals. I cannot rave enough about Pisticci. Ill be back, for like the 12th time.
I really want to like this place, but Ive had 3 okay experiences that just werent great (yet). It has everything to make it work...location on a side street, nice decor and ambience, and a colorful menu, but something is lacking in some areas. The past 2 times Ive been here, Ive been seated to the right in this back room that was drafty and felt super closed off. It feels like it should be a part of the kitchen or something. You feel secluded and not in a good way as the wait staff tend to take their time getting over to you. The seating near the windows and left side of the restaurant are much better. The food Ive had has been okay, but Ive had better Italian food in the area. The potato leek soup and the ministroni soup were pretty bland and reminded me of cafeteria food. Otherwise, the main dishes are very good. I think the seating arrangements need some updating and the menu needs streamlining. Maybe Ill come back for a 4th try.
Simple but exquisitely done food. The flavors are clear and fresh. I highly recommend. Service is attentive and not overbearing. I would give it a five, but I need to eat there more to feel confident the food is always as good as my meal was. From other reviews, that seems to be the case.
We had some wine and food here. The vibe was quite good, and the music was just about right in intensity, neither too loud, note too weak. The food was good, with very fresh and good quality produce. The wine was also okay. What ticked us of is that we were charged a 20%to on the total bill which was outrageous.
One of my favorite places to eat in NYC. We found this place while living in Morningside Heights during an internship, and have frequented it ever since. Each of the 5+ times weve been, the service has been fantastic and incredibly friendly. Im a spaghetti addict so I get the standard spaghetti, with the added meatballs (which make the dish, along with the sauce).
I love this restaurant and the food is very nice, however, we ordered appetizers and entrees, and the service was very rushed. We were not nearly finished the befores when our main dishes were smacked down. Also we shared a desert and had to eat out of the same bowl.
1.) I love the food, because its delicious, authentic and so well done.2.) I love the service, because the waiters are friendly, let you take your time and are actually able to describe the food and thus can help you with to make the right decision.3.) I love the atmosphere because its casual and cosy at the same time. And a place with free live Jazz und Sundays cant be too bad. The only reason to not recommend this place is that I might need a table in the future.
Great little Italian restaurant tucked away in the bosom of Morningside Heights. Some consider the prices a bit higher than average, but the food and the atmosphere are well worth the the money, and people from all over Manhattan (not just the locals like me who lives in the building on top of this restaurant) come here to eat. Generally, Im not a fan of pasta, but I never turn down an invitation to eat here. My favorite dish: the grilled salmon fillet.
Came to pisticci for my first time recently and was blown away by their brunch! Definitely will be coming back for brunch again and to try other meals. The lemon ricotta pancakes live up to the hype and all of the egg offerings are absolutely incredible! Had great coffees and didn’t feel rushed by staff even when it was a busy brunch morning — super professional and very attentive staff!
The space is cute, but the food and service dont live up to the price. We ordered a dish that was served with a shaved fennel salad, which turned out to literally be just shaved fennel, with no dressing or even olive oil on it. It felt pretty silly to pay several dollars for a raw, completely unseasoned vegetable. Also, when they brought our main course, they cleared away the utensils we had used for our salad and didnt bring us new utensils for a couple minutes, so we were just sitting there looking at our pasta but unable to eat it.
What a wonderful little spot in Harlem! I met with old friends there and had a wonderful dinner. This place features REAL Italian food done very well. A member of our group had a fig salad that was on special and looked great; another person had the artichoke, which was excellent; and I had the fennel salad which was wonderfully balanced and tasty. For entrees one of us have the Maltagliati, which is a flat pasta with ricotta and lamb ragu, which she always gets and was great. Another person had the Fettuccine Al Funghi, which was fettuccine pasta with a variety of mushrooms with truffle oil on it, a had a bit and it was outstanding! I tried the spaghetti with meatballs and it was really good. We had a cake that was like tres leches for dessert and sorbet--Im not a big fan of cream, but the folks who were loved the cake; the sorbets were great. On top of the food the waitstaff folk had a good sense of humor. The vibe at Pisticci was great as well, it had a real cozy, hidden hometown gem kind of feel. If you are around check it out, you wont be disappointed.
Just love Pisticci! It is worth the 1 train ride from 23rd St in Chelsea. All the pasta dishes are just excellent and worth trying them all. We were here on 12/28/18 had the Mussels & Sausage appetizer @ $15.00, Shrimp Scampi special @$29.95. The shrimp were huge! Bottle of the Li Veli Pass @$44.00 is very good. Pisticci also offers sparking or bottled flat water for $2.00 each unlimited. They donate some of the proceeds to charity. Wait staff are very nice and knowledgeable about the specials. Back again on 2/5/19 had the Farfalle Bolognes @$24.95 and Spaghetti with Octopus/Shrimp @$29.95 and bottle of the Divus Montepullicano @$46.00. Delicious again very consistent. Back again 4/22/19 Had Lentil & Spinach Soup @$7.95, Spaghetti di Mare @$29.95, Ricotta Ravioli @$24.95, coconut cake @9 and a Carafe of House Red @35.00 again the meal was absolutely delicious! I recommend all of those dishes. Back again on 8/20/19 ordered a carafe of house red @35, fresh mussels & sweet Sausage app @$15 and Linguine di Mare (our favorite) at the very affordable price of $29.95 ea.
Italian restaurants are not common in this neighborhood, but even then this establishment stands out. The menu is concise, and the choices are all excellent. The pasta especially shines, it tastes as if it were just made (likely that it is). Always a great spot to visit.
One of the best meals we have had in New York City since weve moved here. Highly recommended. Place is usually packed so make sure you have a reservation. We went alittle later and noticed it got less crowded in the middle of our meal making talking much easier. Great for a date night.
I love this restaurant. If it was in my neighborhood, I would eat here as often as possible. Lovely wait service and delicious, fresh food. At my last visit I discovered that the restaurant has a farm--there was even a stand set up next to the restaurant selling beautiful produce from the farm (The stand is only there once a week, I believe).
Went to lunch here with officemates. We had a reservation for 12pm (time they open), and the place filled up really fast. I appreciate that they use responsibly sourced produce, which makes their salads taste fresh and delicious. The tiramisu, coconut cake and chocolate mousse were really good!
Pisticci is an amazing dining experience. Its probably my favorite Italian restaurant anywhere, and I dont say that lightly. If you are looking for a stuffy high-brow atmosphere, look elsewhere. The surroundings are warm, the lights are dim, and the food is to die for. All the food is made with organic ingredients (when possible). I always order the Michaels pasta, it is the best! The owner even supposedly built all the tables in the restaurant. Obviously, I love this place and will go back as long as I am alive and it exists.
Always a wonderful treat to go here! Food is delicious, and staff friendly and helpful with suggestions. Descriptions of the specials from last night (10/19) made it very hard to decide, but I went with the Zuppe de Pesce, and was rewarded with an excellent tomato based broth, and a selection of mussels, calamari, shrimp, clams, and salmon. Would definitely have again.Had the artichoke as the starter, always one of my favorites. Dont miss this place, and reservations are necessary. Even though theyve expanded the seating area, its becoming so popular that a wait is almost inevitable if you dont. But the wait is worth it.
We have eaten at Pisticci several times when weve been in the Columbia neighborhood While the food hasnt been outstanding , its been passable and the setting comfortable. Last night we returned to find mediocre food and abysmal service. My insalata caprice was good but the pasta had become hard well beyond al dente. I suspect it had sat under a heating lamp far too long. When we arrived and after we stood by the bar about 5 minutes, I asked the bartender if we could be seated. Turned out that the woman seated at the end of the bar was the hostess. She begrudgingly got up to take us into one room, then bring us back to the first room for a table. It didnt get any better. Too bad. I had liked the place but its gone downhill.
Plant Forward Dining... I didnt even know that was a thing, but at Pisticci it is! All their dishes are vegetarian unless noted otherwise and they are one of the first 100% carbon neutral restaurants in NYC so cool, oh and the food and drinks are so fresh and delicious 😋
This says everything about why I love Pisticci: I pass this restaurant almost every day, and it always cheers me up to see friends enjoying good food in good company. Its such a happy place. The delicious food, friendly staff, and warm atmosphere make it a special restaurant to enjoy with those you care about most.
Shhh... Dont tell anyone else about this place ;)Seriously great quality good, and reasonable prices too. No reservations unless you have a big party, so be prepared to wait, especially during the school year as this seems to be a Columbia favorite. The garlic bread with cheese is crazy good, as is everything else. The half- or full-carafe of their house wine is also one hell of a deal.
As authentic as it gets in NY. I felt like I was in Rome eating in some well kept secret restaurantthat only Italians were allowed to eat at. The pastas were wonderful and the use of unusual shaped noodles even made it better! The antipastos, soups and salads were equal to the entrees! 5 STARS!
My expectations were low after reading these reviews, but I was pleasantly surprised by my high tea. The sandwiches were tasty, especially the salmon and chicken curry; the scones were warm and a perfect surface for butter and lemon curd; and the red velevet cupcake was moist and delicious. Yes, the tea came in a tea bag, but it tasted fine. I had the roobios and really liked putting the sour (?) cherries in them, per the waiters suggestion.Speaking of which, service was very good. Our teapots were replenished with water without our asking and service was highly efficient. The decor was a bit futsy for my taste, but what the heck, its the Russian Tea Room!
Was waiting for my food and drink, forever. And after waiters start bring food out, start from last order. I ordered first, get last. Not organized! How long you need to make one drink, look like a hour. Not expensive, but its dont mean to be disrespectful! Not recommended!
The food is amazing and such a lovely cosy restaurant. I went on a Sundsy in the evening and I was surprised by live music that was lovely. I recommend the mushroom with pasta, YUM! But everything was good but the best part was DESERT! The coconut cake is to die for, its like a Tres Leche and Coconut meet and make an amazing desert.
I had a reservation for me and my wifes 4th anniversary we wanted to go somewhere nice so we decided to come here that was a huge mistake as soon as they saw us the staff wanted to sit us near the garbage when there was plenty of seats on the deck my wife asked to use the bathroom and was told to put on a mask but another people were walking around without a mask I will never eat hear again i felt very uncomfortable the only good food they got is garlic bread dessert seems like they got it from coscos the place sucks overpriced tasteless food

2022-05-11This is an excellent Italian restaurant, conveniently located near the Jewish Theological Seminary and Columbia University. We had excellent service snd had outstanding salads and the house specials! I loved the wallpaper in the dining rooms as well as in their spotless bathrooms!

2022-04-04We were excited to try this place because of the rave reviews. The food was fine, but not worth the price. I would avoid the artichoke appetizer, which was steamed without seasoning and came with a sour lemon dip without flavor. The sauces on our pastas were good, but the portions were a little small and the pasta noodles were cooked less than al dente and tasted like the Barilla we boil at home. The service was the minimum. It would have been nice to have received a check-in at some point so we could have let them know about the food. No complimentary bread with our meal either, unfortunately, which seemed like an oversight as the tables around us got that. The location is nice, its a garden level restaurant that seems cozy from the outside. Unfortunately we were sat right by the busy traffic of the wait staff. And the atmosphere could have been improved with dimmer lighting.I likely wont be returning. It unfortunately didnt feel like a satisfying dinner.

2021-11-06Delicious, flavorful ravioli, and sinful tiramisu. I expected more mushrooms in the Vegetable Ceci. Tastefully done interiors. Carry vaccination card for indoor seating.

2021-08-26Great service, delicious food.. best drink was the Pomegranate Margarita (and I dont like tequila). I also liked the Acqua Di Vita. I do not recall the name of the plate I had (with calamari, shrimp, salmon and red snapper) but it was DELICIOUS. Also, not pictured was dessert.. we had a Tirimisu, Grandmas Signature Coconut Cake and a Raspberry Mousse (they accommodated me with a chocolate drizzle, lol).. All delightful.. Ill definitely go back again... but this time Ill dine indoors.. no more tricky steps for me. Lol

2021-05-27The service started out great then it declined after awhile. Overall the food was good, but not worthwhile. And the dessert sounded better than what it tasted. The environment is nice and big, did not feel overwhelmed.

2021-08-17A gem of a place! Pasta ala vodka was excellent but make sure to try the specials. My friend had goat cheese & peach tortellini and it was superb!

2021-11-20This is one of the nicest Italian restaurants up near Columbia University, the food was outstanding. Id highly recommend Pisticci if your visiting the area.
