Alright gang. I live half a mile from Franklin and Micklethwait BBQ and have had the pleasure to eat at lots of excellent BBQ spots here and around the USA. So when I was up in this area for work my client wanted me to try his favorite BBQ spot. It’s always tough knowing you are likely going to be disappointed and have to figure out how to tell folks that. Well, not in this case. PJ tackles not only Texas meats but all the best BBQ styles and does an awesome job with them. Best beef rib I’ve ever had, brisket was great, Cornell chicken, Kansas City ribs, pulled pork, creamed corn, greens. I didn’t have enough room in my belly to try everything but everything I did try was really solid. If you are anywhere near here go eat some great food from folks who love and respect BBQ tradition and were willing to take all the classic American takes on BBQ. You won’t be disappointed.
This was our first stop after flying up from Florida, and it did not disappoint! Everything was amazing, the sauces were a perfect addition to the dishes. It was hard to choose what to get because everything sounded amazing! We also met the owner, who was super nice and made sure everything was to our liking, highly recommend!
Have heard/read rave reviews about this place for a long time, but after todays stop - were trying to figure out why. Purchased the Five Region Road Trip Tour & extra sides. It was expensive and not worth it: Beef brisket was extremely dry and hard to swallow; 1/4 chicken was tiny and overcooked; greasy dripping sausage; Pulled pork didnt have much flavor; Ribs had semi-burned sauce & were so dry, it was tough to get off bone. The side with this package is the size of a Dixie cup. Mac & cheese was fishy, with a bad aftertaste. The only good things were the Cole slaw and potato salad (if you like it oniony). Sorry to say the food was not worth the $80. take out price. Our first and very last visit.
Got the two region tour. South vs. Texas. Just goes to show the two shouldnt mix. Moist Texas brisket. Perfectly fine and taste just like brisket I got in red rock outside Austin. Not part of the southern palate. Original North Carolina was spot on especially with the mustard sauce and could well stand alone without the sauce. The Brunswick stew if I could call it that. More akin to vegetable beef soup. Not sure how it would go over south of the border. The corn bread was sweet just like granny used to make. Thanks for that.
Not really that good. Ribs and brisket were very dry and flavorless. Mac and cheese was bland and collard greens not really up to par. The cornbread was on point tho, so I guess thats a plus. First time leaving a BBQ place and was still hungry. Very small portions and really expensive for what you get.
The food is Really Good! You stand in line and pay when you order. They call your number when its ready. My Pulled Pork Platter came with corn bread and 2 sides -- I got corn chowder (looks strange, really thick, tastes Amazing!) and baked beans (yum). The pork was wrapped in paper, like a burrito. Off-putting presentation, but Great flavor. [Choose among 5 sauces]Weak plastic utensils and napkins insufficient for messy barbq, but Im so sloppy a waterfall at every table wouldnt be enough. LolTheres a biker night and a classic car night. American nostalgia and quality eats!
I am originally from the Adk area but have spent about the last 30 years of my life in Texas so when I hear Texas Bar-B-Q I come running. I can honestly say that stuff this place calls bar-b-q barely qualifies as food let alone bar-b-q. I ordered the 3 region tour (Brisket, Sausage and Pulled Pork) the meat was prepackaged and stored in their respective fats and grease, then what tasted like it was put into a microwave for about 30 seconds. The Sausage was market value kielbasa (Extremely Poor Quality). The sides came in a 4 Oz Dixie cup. All in all your better off saving yourself the time and disappointment by just going to your local grocery and buying a hungry man dinner. Atleast you wont be disappointed and saved yourself about $30
I love PJs! I am a Buffalo Bills fan and they are a Bills Backer bar. The food is very good and the draft selection is excellent. In addition, the dining room has a garage door that opens so it is like being outside. Especially good during Covid. They also have a large amount of outdoor seating.
Best food in the Saratoga area. Postmaster PJ MARTIN and family have been running this place and successfully building this business for more than 20 years. I especially enjoyed the homages ( on the walls) to the BARbecue pioneers of the United States! These folks have done their homework and are making a mark on the culinary landscape of the communities of Saratoga, Ballston Spa and Malta! We will definitely return here whenever we ar passing through the area!
Great ambiance, awesome outdoor seating (picnic tables) with a live radio station playing great rock and roll, and plenty of toys for the kids to play while you eat your que. Price was extremely affordable, food was spot on. Memphis ribs had a killer dry rub, and the brisket was good, but not great (over salted). Overall if you want the closest thing to solid southern BBQ, and an ice cold PBR, this is your place!
The back bar area was nicely setup with huge bar and many TVs playing the Sunday night football games. The Beef Rib is fantastic, very tender and good black pepper based rub & bark. The brisket was pretty good it and the beef rib came in butcher paper to keep moisture in meet. The KC sauced ribs were okay, but a little overcooked. The sides I tried were pretty good, the cole slaw was had very tasty light vinegar based sauce and corn on cob was tender and sweet!
Honestly I was expecting much more from all the good reviews. We got a good amount of food so we could try a little bit of everything. And to be honest nothing was more than mediocre at best.I didnt hate it, but I dont think I would return again.Prices are pretty up there as well, I believe three stars is the best I could give.
Pros: service was relatively fast. seems to be open year-round I think, not seasonal(I went early March). Staff was friendly. Pulled pork was very juicy.Cons: was a bit pricey for the quality of the food. Ribs and brisket were tender but quite dry. Because they were tender that makes me think they were cooked properly but just sat out too long. Sides were very disappointing, felt very cheap and bland. Mac n cheese was almost flavorless. Corn bread was good though.Place was highly recommended to me. It was good, but definitely did not live up to the hype. I went all out and did the $30 three meat platter. Got pulled pork, brisket, and ribs. Pulled pork was juicy and was decent. I didnt prefer the sauce they used but there were more than one option so Id just try a different type next time. Ribs and brisket were both very dry. Brisket was fork tender and smoke flavor was good but very dry and no other seasonings other than smoke seemingly. Corn bread was very cake like, kinda spongy. I enjoyed it but worth mentioning. Sides were biggest disappointment. I got Mac n cheese and Mac salad. Mac n cheese was borderline flavorless with no breadcrumbs and noodles were smooth so no texture whatsoever. Mac salad was passable but very bland. Overall not a bad experience but not worth $30 at all.
We stopped here for lunch on a road trip up to VT. PJs is conveniently located right off the highway and was very easy to find. The service was quick and the owner was so friendly. Most importantly, the food was incredible. My husband ordered the beef rib and was blown away by how delicious it was. I enjoyed a few sides - fried okra, mashed sweet potatoes, and mac and cheese - which were all so delicious. It was the perfect way to spend our lunch break after a few hours on the road. To quote another diner we met while there - Its so damn good its ridiculous! :)
I had a last minute request to order lunch for our office and it was recommended I try here. I wasnt sure what to get or how much each portion would feed so I gave them a call and was fortunate to speak with a very helpful woman (whose name escapes me right now - Jaime maybe). Anyway, she was super patient with me and helped me select an order that was perfect for our group. When I arrived to pick it up I was greeted in a friendly and prompt manner. She reviewed my order with me to be sure everything was there and I was on my way. It was cost effective and delicious - everyone loved it!
The smoked chicken wings. Addictive. We ride them hard. Very hard. Burnt ends brisket very smoky, spot on barbecue chicken, hush puppies with lingonberry sauce are a must, we always get large collard greens, smoked Turkey pretty stellar, ribs dry rub, baked beans very deeply sweet & tangy, but it all come down to the smoked wings. They are a house MUST.
Awesome! Cant believe that we can get this great tasting barbecue in NY! We are from the Carolinas and barbecue is a religion there but this barbecue rivals anything at home. We had chicken, ribs, brisket combo. The black eyed pea salad was great too. Lots of good sauces and even gluten free sauces. Worth driving back to Sarasota to eat here!!!
Let me start by saying that I rarely leave reviews. However, based on my experience there I feel I must. My husband was craving BBQ on a Friday evening and so we decided to head there around 7:30, well aware they closed at 8:00. Of course, we figured it would be busy--a warm summer night so we expected a bit of a wait. We had officially placed our order at 7:49 said our receipt. We did not get our food until 8:34. Nearly a ONE HOUR wait. We wanted to eat at the picnic tables so we got it to go meaning we had to literally stand there and pace around during this time while we waited for our food. It seemed like we were never going to get our meals. The worst part was that it didnt appear to be particularly busy (cant imagine it during earlier dinner hours when its legitimately busy).I ordered 1/4 chicken with mac & cheese and corn on the cob. My husband ordered 1/2 rack of ribs with fries and corn on the cob. The chicken was dry with minimal BBQ flavor and corn on the cob was very mediocre, the mac & cheese was pretty good. My husband loved his meal, said everything was delicious so that made me happy. Overall, I would steer clear from this place if you have any sort of time limit and if you are looking for what I think is mediocre BBQ at best.
This place is legit. We live about 5 minutes down the road and we’re constantly driving past this place. We decided to stop in to grab some take out for dinner. All I can saw is, wow. From the moment you step in you’re salivating. The smell is delicious! The staff at the counter were helpful and pleasant as well. We ordered the big triple axle for the whole family for $66.You get so much food! Everything we had was beyond delicious. The ribs were fall apart tender, pulled pork was moist, the chicken cooked perfectly, corn bread out of this world, Mac and cheese was perfect. Everything was so flavorful. The best part though? A gentleman who works there walking around with a little basket filled with little stuffed animals for the kids. Little touches like that are so nice!Overall we will be back! Probably tomorrow, to try the burnt ends and some bread pudding. I can’t wait to try the ice cream in the summer!Give this place a try you will not leave disappointed or hungry.
I would normally give this place a 5 star rating and have in the past however- the last 2x I have gone it has not been good. Today was my latest experience. I ordered the burnt end sandwich and a small mac and cheese. The mac and cheese was excellent but the sandwich was lacking. The meat was barely warm and so dry I literally thought I was going to choke to death on my first bite. I actually got scared- as I was alone-of choking and nobody around to help me. Im not sure what going on but Ill try again in the summer. Both times I had a bad experience it was today and before in the fall so...maybe the food isnt as fresh during this time of the year? Though honestly- that should have no bearing. Idk- but you cant be serving dried up brisket...it should be moist and flavorful- this was far from it. Sorry.
Took a weekend getaway to Saratoga springs and stopped here for lunch. I live 4hrs away and would drive that just to get more of their brisket. It was amazing. I got the moist variety. It is a smoke House. Be prepared to order your food, get a number and pick it up and find a seat. Save yourself on the side dishes. They are not the best. Get take out meat and make your own sides at home. My husband had the ribs and he loved them as much as I loved the brisket.
Authentic bbq flavors from around the country. Food was delicious, plentiful, and perfectly prepared. I had the salmon platter with cheese grits and collards. Everything was exactly as I wanted them to be. Salmon was tender with just the right amount of smoke and spice. Collards are just the way Grandma would make. Hubby had the pulled pork sandwich with bbq beans and mac and cheese. Both the sandwich and beans were super tasty. A shared order of smoked wings pleased us both. Smoky, perfectly seasoned, with chipotle ranch and blue cheese dipping sauces. Try the loganberry drink, it tastes like snow cones at the county fair, I kid you not. Also, everyone who worked there were so nice and accommodating. I dont write reviews often, but this place made me want to take the time. Stop by if youre in Saratoga Springs, you wont regret it.
Best BBQ around! My personal favorites are the Kansas city ribs, chicken, vinegar pulled pork and sweet potato fries with the loganberry sauce and/or the cream cheese dip. The owner is genuinely nice and cares about the experience of the patron. Great atmosphere with good music and indoor/outdoor seating. PJs is hands down one of my favorite places!
We visit PJs every time were in Saratoga, without fail. Usually our first stop in town.Moist brisket, ribs, sausage and pulled pork are always in our order. All of the sides are great too.Takeout is quick and when dining in, we enjoy the full-service bar area. Staff is always friendly, helpful and very personable.
Delicious BBQ. We went during the week and there was a long line to order but it moved very quickly. The food was also ready quickly. The staff was friendly and restaurant was clean. My wife and I tried several different offerings and they were all excellent. We are vacationing in the area and have already talked about going back.
Ordered a plain original pulled pork sandwich , and got a vinegar with mustard coleslaw on top, and a buger meat told the person at the counter and they said that’s just how it comes. So I reordered just a plate of original pulled pork and it was not good at all. All these good reviews hyped it up, I definitely will not be returning
I have had brisket all over the country. I have even had Wagyu brisket. I make my own brisket several times a year. This place has the best brisket I have ever had. Everything else was good too, but the brisket was stand out amazing. I would love to know how they get that bark on it.
Amazingly delicious food and exceptional service! I highly recommend this place to ANYONE looking for a nice BBQ meal!Pro tip: try the wings. You absolutely wont be disappointed. The only down side was trying to decide if sauced or plain grilled was better. Both so so so delicious!!!
Really good barbecue. The wings to me are perfect in every way. There arent too many wing spots that you can enjoy naked wings, theyre mostly all smoothered in sauces that after a couple pieces can become overwhelming. Wings are definitely a must try. But wait......youre not going all the way to Saratoga for wings are you? No no no, you absolutely must try the Texas rib(large), especially if youre not a pork fan. Its a bit pricey for a single rib but its the best beef rib you will ever have. The meat falls off the bone and immediately sends your palete into a dizzying realm of confusing excellence. You wont believe that something so simple can taste that heavenly. 4 stars only because I havent enjoyed a single side that came with my dish. Not the grits, not the slaw, not the Mac n Cheese and not even the Fried Okra.
Stopped here for lunch before catching a show at spac. I ordered a brisket sandwich on Texas toast. The brisket was so dry I almost couldnt eat it. The Texas toast was just frozen garlic bread. I got mac and cheese with it. It was more frozen garbage, banquet or something. My wife got pulled pork nachos. It was literally a bowl of chips and canned nacho cheese. Barely any pork at all nothing else. If youre looking for home made quality food do not go here. Sad to see a place charge top notch prices for garbage freezer food.
I was passing through on my way back to Staten Island. I saw the well worn smoker out front and decided to stop in. Being a certified KCBS judge I decided to try the beef rib (something that can be difficult to cook). Took one bite in front of the owner and said wholy S+!t...thats good. I hope Im passing through again sometime soon PJ.
Food tasted amazing but WAY Over priced for the portions. Small everything. The 1/4 chickens were tiny and the small sides are super small. I got a large frie, which was like a small fries anywhere else, and a small mac and cheese. Literally 2 tablespoons and finished.Too bad.
I ordered the Road Trip, 5 different meats. The ribs and brisket were excellent. The chicken was good. NYS Fair chicken is good, but not exciting. The pork was not pulled into pieces, it was masticated, which is a style, but Id rather that the pork be recognizable. The turkey was so dry, I couldnt eat it, even with lots of sauce, and there isnt much I wont eat.
In my opinion the best BBQ in town! You will not be disappointed with anything you order. The burnt end brisket sandwhich, state fair chicken and KC ribs are some of our favorites. And you cant forget about the dipping sauces! Tennessee whiskey BBQ sauce and Carolina mustard are my top 2! And make sure to grab lots of napkins, youll need them 😉
After having eaten at dozens of places in Texas and beyond this had to officially be the best BBQ place in the north east. My favorite was the beef rib. The only complaint is the moist brisket was a bit dry and not enough fat. But thats fair considering I think it was a reheated they boy and they used a modified smoking time than Texas which had fresh at lunch instead of dinner.Prices are very fair for the location and quality. Staff was friendly! Its a must stop to sample proper bbq. After you go here most places will become an utter disappointment.
Shocked and Awed!!! Let me begin by pointing out that I was born and raised and live in North Carolina, so I take my BBQ seriously (lol). While working in Saratoga Springs, I didnt expect to find great BBQ.....I was so surprised to find a place that does BBQ the right way. This place has tapped into all the regional BBQ styles in the US. They have NC style pulled pork, NY style chicken, Texas style brisket, KC and Memphis style ribs and Virginia style sausage. I couldnt pick just one, so I ordered the 3 choice combo plate....The KC ribs were tender and delicious, the NC pulled pork was almost as good as home (wink) and the highlight of my dinner was the TX brisket....this stuff was incredible! SO juicy, tender and flavorful. The baked beans were great, could have used some more meat in them, but thats just being nit-picky. The curly fries were a great compliment. All in all, this place was a pleasant surprise and if I am ever in the Saratoga Springs area again, I will absolutely be back for more!
Such a great place to check out. So many choices to meet your dining needs- inside, outside, big group, small intimate, bar, family seating, seating with dogs, take-out, quick in & out or hang out awhile. I highly suggest this dynamic location with great food. The BBQ is definitely yummy. Both vinegar and non vinegar available. We will be coming back for more.
What can I say except holly molly this is good bbq. The prices are fair but a little high not considering how good it is. The pork ribs and the beef on bone are amazing and the beans and potatoe salad is spot on delicious. Will be coming back many times. Great place even if they are Buffulo Bill fans.
Used to be great. Every meat we ordered was dried out. Its was very disappointing. No lids for a kids cup. I ordered to go and PJ himself took the order. I asked if I could upgrade the kids drink to a normal cup and he said no. I was very put off by that. Waited in line for about an hour. Maybe its time to find another place. Wasnt worth the $50 I spent.
This was our Goto BBQ joint on our travels along the thruway... tonight we visited and had a terrible experience before getting to the door... they have an extremely inconsiderate guy name Pete working the door segregating the lines to get into the place who made us feel very unwelcomed for communication difficulties waiting in line... got screamed at for not standing in the covid box properly. The guy was rude to a few other parties as well while we waited it gets better... the kicker is you can stand side by side at the register next to another random party literally shoulder to shoulder. Really made us feel like we are living in a communistic world. Then we are Rushed to order our food by the people at the counter then finally got our food a depressing huge portion of a joke after a long wait.Got to a table to find the brisket as well as the pulled pork over salted and extremely fatty and greasy. Beans and mac and cheese were bland. Definitely not worth what we paid... you get more at a fast food joint for cheaper. Not sure what is going on with this place but its super unfortunate that its going downhill since we really enjoyed stopping in during our trips.Unfortunately we will not be returning anymore. Longtime customer lost.
A different experience for the area. I had a NC pulled pork sandwich, hush puppies, and an iced tea. No unsweetened tea but the Gold Peak they had was not overly sweet. A little disorganized but it was pretty quiet on a Wednesday afternoon. Ill probably stop back again as Im working in the area for a few weeks. The two gals working the cash register and taking the orders were great.
As someone who just moved back from Texas, this BBQ place was a pleasant surprise because it was fantastic! We got the Texas briskets, moist of course, with sides of corn on the cob and cheese grits. The brisket was so nice and juicy and fell off at the touch which was perfect. The grits and corn was excellent as well. My wife and I also got an order of smokehouse wings which were great. My wife got a side of baked potato, which was a good side as well as hush puppies which were also fantastic. If anyone is looking for AUTHENTIC southern BBQ in the north, look no further than here!
I used PJs BBQ- bar-b-qsa -this past weekend for catering purposes.. we were having a family gathering on our deck. Caroline helped me order, she was very patient, took the time to explain everything, and could easily figure how much food n sides I would need. When I went to pick it up, she double- checked everything to be sure that my order was correct, helped me to the car, and even generously gave me dessert for the birthday people!! The food was absolutely delicious... we ordered ribs, Texas brisket, and smoked salmon and ten half chickens. The usual sides of salads, Plus cornbread, and okra by special request!! I would highly recommend this venue for family or group picnic catering, food and service, everything was A++!!!
You cannot come to Saratoga springs and don’t stop here! A must stop! If you like meat, South BBQ vibes, this is a great place. You can see local people’s are going there because the owner came to great us because he never saw us before. always a good sign to not go to tourist traps... PJ’s is the heart of this place, you can see he loves his BBQ the way he is talking about it. He did a trip to south states to learn with the best, he import some woods from Texas to bring your original flavors! He is a lovely person with great stories! You should try his loganberry juice that is delicious. The extra moist brisket was a killer, all the meat was flavorful, perfectly cooked and delicious. Thank you for your warm welcome PJ and your time with us. The experiment was even better thanks to you ! Take care
Having read the reviews on this place I was excited in trying a new BBQ spot. I ordered the 1/2lb brisket, full rack of PJS ribs, and the Virginia sausage platter. The biggest let down was the ribs and Virginia sausage platter; the ribs being tough, dry, and excessively charred; while the Virginia sausage retaining some moisture, still suffered from being over charred to the point where I could not taste the sausage. The two-sides that came with the platter: mac & cheese and hush puppies were ok. Unfortunately, I will not be coming back as I spent over $40 to be greatly underwhelmed by the quality of this BBQ. Im also giving it two-stars because I believe it was an off-day for them, as the girl informed me not many people were showing up. Maybe the food was being held in the warmer for too long?
I called my order in, the food was ready very fast. On my arrival I grabbed my food, I ordered a pulled pork sandwich and Mac and cheese as a side. I thought it was a great value for under $10. I realized that I forgot a drink I purchased a small bottle of soda for $3.50. Which was totally over priced. But the kicker is I got about 3 miles away and that $3.50 small bottle of soda expired 6 months ago.Mac and cheese 6/10Pulled pork had great smoky flavor. I didn’t know I had to request BBQ sauce so I ate it dry. Still would give it a 9/10.Overall I’d give the experience a 6/10
We came with high expectations of some good local bbq food! Alas we were very disappointed, we tried the dry rub ribs - ok ok, the pulled pork sandwich was very greasy and salty, the Mac and cheese was very sub par for a bbq joint, tasted like from a box of Kraft Mac! Fried okra was ok ok, only good thing was the corn chowder! Maybe it was a busy Sunday not sure but we came in expecting some great bbq and got ok food so disappointing experience! They did take good covid precautions and the staff was friendly!
EDIT: I’m upgrading PJs to the best BBQ I’ve ever had. Ive never gotten a bad order here. We come here now whenever I have a special occasion. The beef rib is divine. The Saratoga chips are to die for. The KC ribs are good enough to make you want to slap your mama. You absolutely must order from here if you’re in the mood for BBQ.This is the best BBQ I have had in the Saratoga Springs area. It is extraordinarily good. It is a definite must try. Get the tour that comes with 5 meats. I got the pulled pork WITH vinegar. Delicious. They have ample BBQ sauces available for you to add to your meal. (Carolina Mustard was my fave). This place is totally worth it and so good. You will love it.
We always have a wonderful time when we visit...but this time was a bit more special because our girls got to bring a little joy into the life of a Marine Vet, by singing him The National Anthem. Thank You for giving them the opportunity PJ!! As always the food was magnificent❤❤❤ The Miles Crew
I ordered 2 pulled pork sandwiches with cheese and mac and cheese and fries and hot dogs for The .kids . First off. They put NO BBQ SAUCE ON THE SANDWICHES they were soo dry..the fries and hot dogs also dried out and over cooked . We got no forks at all with our order either. Definitely not all its hyped up to be.
We ordered KC Ribs, Memphis Ribs, NC Pulled pork, Pulled pork nachos with sides of Closlaw, Mac & Cheese , Hushpuppies and Sweet potato fries.Everything was delisious but the sides were small for the money we paid. Highly reccomend the Loganberry drink. We will be back again!
Very impressed. Tasted a little of everything, the pork, brisket, sausages, ribs were all great. For sides had the Mac and cheese and collard greens which were also delicious. Cornbread was moist. Picnic tables outside for dining. Owner was pleasant and helpful. Would reccommend a visit! Thanks for the hospitality.
Shockingly Good. BBQ craving kicked in and after googling “bbq Saratoga Springs” Pjs was listed but had an awful looking picture of dry fatty brisket next to the restaurant options. I almost didn’t order as that picture and others were underwhelming but I took the chance...I know..pictures to decide which bbq place to go to?...yesWell this place is DELICIOUS and the prices are beyond reasonable for portion size. Ordered the Beef Rib, KC Ribs and the my favorite were actually the Smoked Chicken Wings though everything was spot on. All the bbq sauce options were tasty except the Texas hot threw me off a bit, and I love hot but this was an odd mixture in my opinion. I will definitely being craving the crispy/burnt dry rub from the Beef Rib....!This place is worth venturing out just a couple short miles from downtown. I ordered it as takeout and was perfectly packaged and pretty sure they were a little more generous on portions from what I ordered. Thanks!
Pulled pork was amazing, nice and tender and so moist. sausage was so flavorful. The brisket and ribs were drier than the last time I got ribs from them. Their mac and cheese was delish my grand daughter liked it best from everything else. All the food was tasty I just rather have moist ribs rather than dry ribs.
This place does everything right. Brisket was 6 stars out of 5. Ribs - Great, pulled pork could be the best I have ever had. Sometimes the sides are just filler at restaurants, not here. Beans are savory and smokey with a hint of zing, sweet potato mash is bananas, and I really dont like sweet potatoes.
We went here for lunch for our two year anniversary. Clean and tidy, it has a relaxed atmosphere. Great food and great prices !! We both had the 1/2 rack ribs, baked beans and cornbread and it was delicious ! The owner is wonderful and friendly. We will be going back again.
First time trying this place tonight and for me it was underwhelming. The chicken was very dry and all of the skin was missing which was probably where all the flavor was. I had hiccups by the time I was done eating it. The ribs were ok, I ordered the Kansas City and they were also dry but the flavor wasnt bad. The brisket did have a nice bark on it and was probably the best part of the meal. Im hoping that it was just a bad night for them with all that is going on in the world right now but I dont think Ill bother giving it another try.
Good place to go and eat outdoors. Food choice was great offering all of your bbq favorites. Everything our party ate was delicious from main meal to the sides. Social distance policy is good. They only allow a certain amount of people in at a time to place your order.
Having driven by and smelled this place on my way to work every day for about a year, my friends and I decided to finally try this place. We ordered a wide variety of meats and sides. Chicken wings, pulled pork, and briskets were all excellent as well as the fries, hush puppies, mac n cheese and corn bread. There was a plethora of sauces to dip food and all were pretty decent. Portions looked small but turned out to be the perfect size, everyone left very satisfied. The owner randomly came out to ask us how our meals were, and sat down to have a conversation with us for a few minutes. We could tell he cares about his food and his customers. I highly recommend this place.
The food was the best, and the owner and his son are fantastic! I split the five course regional sampler with baked beans and hush puppies. Its hard to settle on a favorite, but the moist brisket was incredible. We choose the St. Louis ribs, moist brisket, white meat chicken, sausage, and pulled pork. I would be excited to have anyone of them as a standalone meal they were that good. Additionally, the beans were perfect with just a hint of spiciness, and they werent complete mush, they still had a pleasant fullness to them. Not quite a crunch, but not overcooked to a canned bean texture.I would highly recommend this place to anyone that enjoys great bbq. And finally, I would make the 6 hour round trip from New Haven, CT to Saratoga just for this place! Great job PJs, you guys rock!!
Great BBQ !!! I know BBQ can be hit or miss sometimes, though Ive have consistently good food here.Brisket was moist, the rub is good and the bark is great.Ribs (Memphis style) were very good. The cashier was very friendly, spoke to us as though we were family. Turns out it was PJ, what a nice fella.Well be back. Thanks for a great experience!!!
Went here with a group of about 12 hungry guys while on a road trip and it was definitely the right decision. With a group that size I was able to try a lot of things from the menu and was not disappointed by anything. The brisket, chicken, ribs, cole slaw, Mac and cheese, to name a few, were cooked expertly. All the meat was moist and flavorful and the sides were great. Next time I’m in the area I’ll definitely stop in again. Even with a large group we were all served quickly by the friendly staff.

2022-02-12Veteran friendly, cozy atmosphere. Cold beer and some of the best BBQ Ive eaten. This is coming from someone who lives in the south & spent a lot time in places from Texas to North Carolina. PJ is not only a great grill master but even a greater guy. Apologies for the pics of eaten food. But the BBQ was so good that we all just dove right in and finished before I realized I forgot to take pictures. If you want fantastic variety of BBQ in a very comfortable atmosphere, Pjs is the the O E and only place to go.

2022-06-03I always love the food here. You expect to pay a bit more then average but you also get quality food and large portion sizes. The best part in my opinion is the barbeque sauce selection. My favorite is always gonna be the Tennessee whiskey one. Love love love it. Im a creature of habit so I usually get the pulled pork, but I can get it every time and not be disappointed. Its a great place to get collard greens while in the north and not be disappointed in them, kinda rare. But had a great experience as always.

2021-08-26#1 Ribs, #1 Beef Brisket, largest selection of barbeque I have ever seen! Lots of sides, coleslaw is so good, sweet potatoes mashed was amazing, and the corn on the cob was crisp, sweet and tasty! I wish we had gotten there sooner for some burnt tips and apple cobbler. No wonder they were sold out--place was packed--even after closing people were still being served with a smile. We tried ALL the sauces, HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!! AMAZING!

2021-08-21PJs does a great job differentiating itself from every other barbecue joint out there. By offering a wide variety of dine-in, carry out, and catering options - from pork to chicken - PJs adds a great deal of options to their menu. From burnt ends to ribs, brisket sandwiches to mac-n-cheese, its hard to go wrong with anything you get from here. Id recommend getting the PJs as opposed to St Louis or Kansas City when youre there for a unique take on ribs!

2021-08-25Enjoyed the brisket dinner basket with two sides, potato salad and coleslaw. The sides were OK, but the brisket was great. Pictured is the moist or wet brisket. Great smoke flavor, very tender.

2022-06-18First time at bar-b-qsa. We ordered both the Memphis and KC style ribs. They were both very very good. The sides were also very good. Loved the beans with a little heat. Will definitely be going back to try the chicken and some other menu items. The service was also very good and fast.

2021-07-23The place was super busy so that shows that they usually do some good business. I expected more out of the reviews I had read but I do believe the issue was they were trying to pump food out fast and didnt have the time to make sure the quality was 100 percent up to their normal par. Can definitely see the potential in this place.

2022-03-07Teetering on a meat coma so better make this short and sweet. Great Q. I had the brisket, wet and the sausage. The brisket was moist, tender, salty, meaty, and had a nice bite. Great bark and smoke ring. It was wonderful. The sausage was out of this world. Sweet, porky, smoky and buttery. Went well with the mustard sauce. Cornbread was moist and light but not cake like. Great beans and slaw. Wife had the brisket wet as well, loved it and the cheesy grits which she said were good, smooth and creamy and tasty.

2022-05-30Came here a couple weeks ago with my fiance, ribs were very dry, unusual for what is usually such a great bbq place. hoping better next time. The quality has seemed to have gone downhill here. The brisket was extremely fatty. Not sure what the issue is, the owner was working the register. Seemed to be more worried about the money than the food quality going out the door. Shame
