I had a surprise birthday for my husband at Plan Bee and the owners were Extremely nice, flexible (down to earth)and accommodating. This spot is not your average brewery, it’s one of a kind in the best way. The beers on tap were great. They offer a mix of farm brewed beers, wines and ciders. The space is so inviting, kid friendly and all around relaxing. I’m excited to see live music there in the future. I’m looking forward to going back. Thank you Plan Bee!
The first time I ever tasted the beer from this brewery was at Oak, in Hudson NY. We ordered it with a clam pie. It was a seriously good pairing, the barn beer and pie. Today we happened to be driving past Poughkeepsie when the light went off so we took a detour to the end of Underhill road. Past the decrepit houses and barns to a clearing in the distance. Evan the brewmaster happened to be bar tending which he said was an occasional gig at best. We were counting our blessings as the menu stretched out before us. Like a Texas highway. Nasturtium, peppers, hay. Not your usual ingredients for sure. I’m not generally a fan boy but this stuff is evanescent. Go get some.
I would have never knew about this place if not for talking to a local beekeeper that was doing a bee removal at a neighbors house. Its a hidden gem for people that enjoy brewery hopping. Im not a beer aficionado but did throughly enjoyed the pompatus I had. Well.. three of them. Inside is very nice but ofcoarse the covid has all seating outside at the moment. Outside is rustic but has ample seating. Checking their website seems to say there is almost some kind of event going on during the weekends.
Such a great spot, a little out of town and on a wild and untamed property, this little brewery is quiet, with friendly, knowledgeable staff. The brews are unique and often slant toward sours which my wife and I enjoy. Stop in for a couple and pick some bottles up to take home. They have outdoor seating, a few snack options and accept cash or card. Looks like they have a makeshift stage set up too for the occasional small but intimate live music performance. Absolutely worth a visit.
Plan Bee not so ironically ended up being our plan b. Originally, it was supposed to be an adventure up to Massachusetts, but a last minute change resulted in a jaunt up to Plan Bee and Suarez. All I can say is that sometimes your second choice ends up being first best. Plan Bee greatly exceeded expectations. The brewery itself is gorgeous. On a big piece of property out in the country. The taproom is a restored barn that maintains its rustic feel. Beers themselves were spectacular. They easily have the best pepper beer Ive ever had. This is easily one of the most underappreciated breweries there is. Period. Theyre doing spectacular things. Youll also be warmly greeted as a friend. The service was top notch. It honestly felt like I was sitting at home having a few beers with some good music. Thats what its all about...
Different then your average brewery. Its on a farm. I went in Dec and after dark so didn’t see much of the grounds. When inside your welcomed by a cozy atmosphere. The bartender was very friendly and helped me select a few beers to go. I’ll definitely be back in the future. I discovered these guys by using google.
If you like sour or tart beers this is the place to go! First off you turn down a practically unmarked road, pass some trespassing signs, and then turn into this little gem in the woods. Prices are a bit up there but well worth the quality beer (each beer had its own unique flavor profile and aroma).
Lovely farm setting, cordial hosts and great beer. They are on a private road off of Underhill Road. WATCH OUT for the sign on the left - Farm Fresh Beer - very small and hard to see. The dirt road leads to a farmer who isnt very pleasant about giving directions. Tends to have his tractor on the road at random times. We almost ran into him while leaving the brewery.
Small taproom located in a reclaimed barn on a lovely piece of old farmland. Located just outside of the city of Poughkeepsie, your time here makes you realize that so much of Poughkeepsie is surrounded by farmland and gorgeous views. Evan and Emily have committed to making beer using 100% NYS ingredients, with much sourced from local farms (including their own) when available. The beers here almost exclusively fall on the funky, sour, tart, wild side of the spectrum. There is usually a lager or something not funky on as well, but if youre coming here, youre likely coming for the main offerings which are always a bit funky. Worth a visit for great beer, great people, and great views.
Totally worth the drive up from nyc! If you are obsessed its sours the way I am, you will be in heaven. Plan bee stays close to the earth and follows the ancient techniques - all of their beers are sour to some degree. My favorites were the barn beer and the beet beer. The barn beer was tart, with lemon and pine, rind flavor, taste of hay, totally delicious!! The beet beer was an earthy red.. I mean beets, I never heard of anyone making a beet beer! Tart with the flavor of beets and a beautiful red color. I just wish I bought more than one bottle. The whole tasting experience was totally awesome as well. There is a tent setup where you order, beers on tap or by the bottle, snacks, and then you enjoy on the lawn (which has tables if you want) like its a picnic. What more can you ask for? Its like drinking the nature around you! All ingredients sourced at their own farm or in New York State. It doesnt get more local. This brewery is going places, get over here and be a pioneer before they make it big!Ps: they have one called pickle.. If you like pickle juice this one is for you. Pickle juice tasting beer! Wow!
As you enjoy a short walk up Underhill Road on your way to Plan Bee Farm youll encounter lush green pastures and a few older farm buildings...Social distancing is observed for the most part across the entire event...Slow paced, comfortable atmosphere...I would compare the Lobster Line to that of the 4H Milkshake Line at the Dutchess County Fair on a hot Saturday afternoon....you wait on line knowing it will be worth the wait !!

2021-08-01Stopped here on a whim while driving through and totally worth it. Beers were some of the best Ive had in a long time (and we were on our way back from Vermont for a brewery trip). For the beer drinkers out there, this is as close to Jester King in Austin TX that youll find on the east coast. Loved being able to bring my dog, explore the farm (and pet a goat) and appreciated the food truck. Looking forward to going back.

2022-03-06At first it looks like there couldn’t possibly be a brewery down this road, but once you’re here it’s incredibly charming. The beer was delicious and the guy running the taproom brews some of the beers himself. A lot of it is “wild” - naturally fermented using yeasts they make themselves. They also had some other beers from local breweries and even a few wine offerings. Indoor and outdoor seating, just gorgeous.

2022-05-09Plan Bee Farm Brewery is a gem in the town of Poughkeepsie. The staff in the tasting room is friendly and knowledgeable and the beers are mainly (to my knowledge) Wild Ales - a style of beer that dates back a long time and is alive and well today at Plan Bee! I tend to prefer sour beers, so wild ales are a new favorite of mine as many of the flavors are similar. I had the beer brewed with hot pepper and also one with ginger and carrots, and both were delicious and farm fresh. I really value that Plan Bee uses TRULY local ingredients, even offering a beer made with only ingredients sourced on their own property. Truly a good bunch of people and a great bunch of beers!

2021-06-08Went there to finish up my work day on a Friday afternoon and was very happy with my experience. The tasting room was cool and rustic, awesome music played in the background, and the person working at the counter was friendly and knowledgeable.I tasted some half pours, walked around outside, and couldnt believe this was just a few minutes outside of center city Poughkeepsie. The Beers are, majority, sour/farmhouse style ales. Plenty of different flavor profiles, tartness, and some different (porter style) beers available as well as wine, cheese, and meat. I would highly recommend coming here.Theres also a ton of space outside to roam around, have a pint, check out the music on the weekends, and hang out.

2022-02-14Recently had a guided tour and tasting with Emily, one of the owners, and it was absolutely a fantastic experience. Shes a great story teller, and there is no shortage of stories about the land, the brewery, and the 200 year-old renovated barn that she and her husband built Plan Bee in.The beers are each singular-- made with only local ingredients (some estate-grown) and fermented with a culture of yeast from the farm itself. There are thousands of breweries in the US, and few, if any, have as much character and soul as Plan Bee.

2019-03-27Delicious sours and wild beer made from local and self grown ingredients. The tasting room is in a renovated 1800s farm building with original floor boards. Some beers are available in bottles and others like the breakfast beer are brewery only. The breakfast beer managed to balance the sweetness of the fruit with the maple syrup and sour base beer. Would 100% recommend a drive out to the farm.

2019-03-25I was really excited to visit the taproom after having enjoyed a few of Plan Bee’s bottles found upstate, and it was all I’d hoped for. Cool little barn like bar with great tunes and superb beers. We enjoyed all of their inventive farmhouse brews and took several bottles to go. Try the cheddar popcorn too! This visit will live fondly in my memory as the first brewery visit with my baby boy on his first trip upstate!

2019-11-03This brewery focuses on sour ales and other sour brews. They even had a stout with sour notes which was very unique. I LOVE sours so this place was definitely my scene but my husband, not so much... For the non-sour lovers there was only 1 guest beer on tap brewed by Industrial Arts Brewing Co. Besides the beers, the live music was incredible, farm vibes were amazing.. we brought our dog and word of warning.. please spray tick repellent if youre gonna hang around the grounds bc we found 2 ticks on her after..

2019-11-15I have been going here since before they had a building. They would just set a stand in the middle of the field, and it had a nice country feel. The crowds were smaller then, and the staff would tell us their favorite beers to try, and tell us stories about how they got their brewery started. I felt like I was a part of something that was going to be a big deal. After building their new structure, I was not disappointed. I felt the same country barn house feel, and the staff were super friendly. The new place is gorgeous! Also, did I mention that their beers are superb? They switch them out every season. I think they may only do sour beers, and theyre great. You have the option to take a walk around the brewery and even see the goats. Beer and goats? How can I say no to that!
