Playa Bowls in other cities:
Got the Nutella Açaí bowl and it was very good! Very fresh, good texture and flavor. However only 3 stars because the portions are too big! $15+ for this huge açaí bowl I can hardly finish. I honestly rather half the portion and half the price. OR at the very least different size options. For this reason I wouldn’t go back because I’m having to pay for more than I need. Please add some size options, the portion is entirely too much and I’m paying for more than what I need.
Discovered this chain in Jersey, really enjoyed their bowls so I figured I try the Manhattan location. The girl behind the counter was awesome tonight! She was working hard as she was alone but she handled it well and with a smile. Delicious pitaya bowl! Love having these bowls with Nutella and almond butter, Ill be back for more!
Dont come here anymore. I dont know if the management yelled at the poor part time employees, or if the employees just got sick of working, but the portion considering the $14 price is so bad. Ive been coming here everyday for the last 3 months but they wont have my business anymore. If theres 4 people in line just to ask for more granola on their bowls, you know something is going wrong with their business. Seriously? Either lower the price (and nice try getting rid of the student discount, 10% was too much generosity for broke college kids?) or raise the portion.
Went here for the first time today bc my friend said they have the best açaí bowls in the city. I got the tropical açaí bowl and it was so so good. The place was clean, the service was friendly, and the menu had a lot of delicious sounding options. I will definitely be back!!
Based on the location this place should be a world-class establishment. At this high price I expect food should be amazing and imo it is very subpar and pedestrian. The bowls are overly sweet, and the smoothies don’t taste like the fruits they say they have in them. I like the vibe, I like the name, I like the design of everything the quality just isn’t there yet
I usually go to Playa Bowl for smoothies if I am in Greenwich Village, because I know what I like (there Aloha smoothie is BOMB!!). However their service can be very slow. I should it is slow because it is very popular in that area. So you have to give it some perspective. Popular and slow or empty and fast. I guess I know where I stand. My friend loved their smoothie as well when I brought her along. So... ENJOY!!
These bowls are packed with sugar mixed into the açaí. They then top it with Honey. It’s like an instant sugar rush with your first bite. I had to throw it away after one spoon. NOT what I expected, since Ive had many Acai bowls before from other places. Açaí bowls aren’t suppose to be sweetened like that. It was gross! Dont waste your money. Not worth it.
I would have given you a 5 star without even thinking about it until yesterdays Nutella bowl. What happened?? Bowl was a 1 inch thick frozen layer of Nutella (I think) with granola frozen into it. Couldnt really get to the Acai beneath it. So chocolatey, hardly resembled an Acai bowl. Now to be fair, the other ten bowls Ive had have all been great. Trouble is, all I can I think about is that last one. Dont ever relax, every bowl that goes out could be someones last.
If you looking for a quick nice meal. This is the place. It takes you back to the carribeans. Its small but the food its good. Prizes are worth paying for. The oatmeals sucks. Take it from a Dominican that eats oatmeals like a New Yorker eats bagels, pizza, halal, and BaconEggAndCheese. Lol
The food is so good but they are completely understaffed. I’ve ordered food for pick up from them twice and both times it was never ready on time. The staff never picks up the pace even when there is a line out the door. Love the food but it’s not worth the long wait times.

2021-09-14I love their bowls a lot! So yummy and tasty. Not much can go wrong, just an assembly of items. I ordered delivery from here and my bowl was just as good as I would’ve gotten them if I was in store.

2022-04-22Amazing service, and so so SO helpful!! The managers, Tony and Ciara, were super great and worked with me on getting a specialty catering order placed. They helped troubleshoot any issues, and were great with finding the best way to get the catering order my office needs. Absolutely worth stopping by just for the service alone! Thank you both so much!

2022-07-13Overpriced af!! Other locations are much cheaper. An acai bowl cost $14 to $16 but how can you charge $11 for a smoothie that is 10x worse than the one at my local deli.

2018-11-06Ive been here twice with my wife to get açaí bowls and both times they have been great. We got the Pura Vida bowl and added bananas. Again the bowl was delicious, place was clean, and the service was great as well. I would definitely recommend this place and will definitely be back!

2019-04-14I just went to Playa Bowls for the first time last Sunday. I went to the location in NJ off Rt 35 while visiting family. So convenient for a vegans breakfast. My aunt asked me if there were any of these in the city. I assumed it was a Jersey chain so I said, No, I dont think so. Totally a gift from God to stumble into it on my way home from church, today! Thank you, Jesus! 💕🙏🤗 you guys are a gift!!

2021-11-07I come here all the time from Brooklyn and I love the acai bowls . Lately the acai bowls have been a little less tasty but before it was spectacular. Here and there it’s always a guy who’s usually in the front (taking orders and he’s white complexioned) to have me pay for add ons and is very stingy. He always comes across rude to me. They should also be more strict on having outsiders and non-customers sit on the playa bowls dining area which is the reason why I gave 4 stars and not 5. Other than that everybody else who works there are the best and I won’t fail to go back for my cravings of a great acai bowl.
