Plum Blossom in other cities:
Another great troy restaurant, even if its still takeout only still. The food is always fresh and delicious, thou a tad overpriced. The interior is classic Chinese dim sum style. Id skip the chicken corn soup, but both the wonton, and hot and sour soups are excellent.
This is not your average Chinese spot. The decor is beautiful, the quality of the food is delicious, and the staff are friendly and knowledgeable. Whether you go for lunch or dinner, you are greeted by your sever with complimentary fried noodles and a variety of dipping sauces, along with hot tea. I try to hit the menu before 3 because the lunch menu is completely affordable for just about every budget. The dinner menu is more pricey, but totally worth it, if you want to splurge on a great dinner.
I felt like Tom Cruise in The Last Samurai the second I walked in surrounded by beautiful hand worked wood columns and decorative molding. Or maybe that was Japan. Maybe I felt more like Chris Tucker in Rush Hour 2. Anyway.... the place looked really cool but the food left a lot to be desired. The wonton soup was average, the chicken wings sucked but thats what I get ordering them from a Chinese restaurant, and the chicken and broccoli with fried rice was good. But the entree was really small and double the price of regular Chinese takeout but not double the goodness. If you want to pay for a place to admire the walls this place is for you, but Id stick to Ocean Palace. Half the price and better.
Wonderful service. Opulent atmosphereDelictable dishes. Wish the Dim Sum was available without shrimp but the dishes are masterfully prepared, reasonably priced especially since I must always take half home (this is Egg Foo Young) and the hot mustard is better than sinus medicine lol
Perfection. Family owned. Actual napery. Sit down restaurant. Tranquil. Relaxing. Extraordinary service. An adult restaurant to calm and have lovely quiet conversation over a fine meal. Lovely interior takes you away from humdrum...truly refreshing and feeding all the senses. Reasonably priced. This is also a family tradition for special occasions.Just very gracious. Just keeps getting better...staff & owners so wonderful.
Delicious as always! Party and I had steamed veggie dumplings, chicken coconut soup, Green Garden vegetables, Buddhas Delight and curried pork, chicken and shrimp rice noodles. Chatted with the owner about the pros and cons of a daily aspirin, drinks always filled, and a cheery happy holidays! on the way out. Always a warm, good experience, and great value for the money.
I started with the miso soup and some hot tea. The soup was piping hot with scallions, mushrooms and some tofu. I’m not a huge fan of miso soup but it had a good flavor. For my entree I got the spicy tofu and mixed vegetables. It was actually spicy! Had broccoli, snow peas, mini corn, carrots, white mushrooms, bok Choy with triangles of tofu. Also served piping hot with a dome of perfectly cooked white rice. My dad wanted to order the chicken or beef satay but they were out of both, which is a little weird. So he got crab ragoons and chicken wings. My mom got sweet and sour chicken. Good sized portions. Lovely interior, plenty of parking and clean bathroom. I honestly didn’t pay attention to the prices as I was being treated, but my food was very good. Service was prompt but not intrusive.
Virtually no wait even though they were packed. Fantastic atmosphere, kind sincere wait staff followed up by absolutely delicious food. You know its great quality food made with passion and love when you eat to much but dont get uncomfortable and tired. Look forward to giving plum blossom 🌸 repeat business in the very near future.
I’ve been getting Chinese here since I was a little kid. It was always such a treat and it still is. I live in Averill park but when I’m in the area or really craving it I make a point to stop here. The food is good, a little pricier than other Chinese places but so worth it! The owner is really a stand up character who’s very dedicated to his business and quality of his food.
Love this restaurant. The people are personable and welcoming. I did my usual take out after my car was serviced, near by.I was gerting food for my neighbor, as well. The owner made sure all packaging was marked so that I knew what was mine and theirs. That is something you dont see. This is what makes people return. Caring for your customers is a huge plus for me!Food is very good with lots of selections. Always eat some of my choices on the way home, as I have an hour drive.
First time here with a pick up order. My beef, broccoli and mushrooms was delicious but no mushrooms. Husband chicken with cashews, peas and mushroom was excellent, not too salty! BBQ spareribs were decent but overpriced for the 4 we got. Egg rolls were cooked too long and were dry. All in all, tho, well return. Its now 10/15, ordered take-out and we were disappointed. Boneless spare ribs were very fatty and lacked taste, my usually delicious beef and mushrooms were not very tasty and my husbands General Tsos chicken (first time ordering that from here) was simply a carton of chicken and another carton of broccoli- no sauce as in every other place weve ever had it. If this was our first visit, we wouldnt return but everything previously has been good.
I went to the Plum Blossom quite a while ago. When it comes to the Plum Blossom you cant go wrong. The atmosphere, the service, the FOOD!!! My god the food is delicious!Like a noob I typically ordered Moo Goo Gai Pan with extra egg rolls, I suggest you head straight to the Chefs Specials, the Hawaii Two O and the Peeking Duck were two of the most delicious plates Ive ever had. There are only three restaurants I spare no expense, Plum Blossom, Saltgrass, and Landrys.
Their food taste and quality has gone down quite a bit. Today, we placed a large take out order with several main course items, but most of the items lacked the original taste (pretty much tasteless). When I called the restaurant back and asked for the manager, the guy was making excuses that he couldn’t hear me and just hung up on me.I would not recommend them to anyone.
Exceptional experience. The astetics of the restaurant and the omniounce inticesed me as soon as I stepped in. The server had a bubbly personality and sat us in front of the store. The pu pu platter was bursting with flavor. The squer had a peanut butter 🧈 flavor (tahini sauce I believe). While the other food had a crispy outtershell and curry in the inside.Highly recommend this restaurant.Thank 🙇 you for the experience🙂
Steven is a gem! Food was delish, Slightly upscale but with all of the American favorites (general tso, chicken and broccoli, etc). I recommend the pu pu platter to start (great theatrics & variety). I will be back of the 1/2 duck confit it seems to be a crowd favorite and looked absolutely delightful.
This place is amazing! It is local owned and the owners are some of the nicest people I have ever met. They are not doing dining in yet because of Covid but they are doing take out. This place has the best sesame chicken I have ever had and my boyfriend and I like to go get it at least once a month. This last time we went we told them that this was our anniversary meal and they gave us an assortment of free desserts that were super yummy! Please give this place a try as they could use the business during covid.
Absolutely delicious... I havent been here in a very long time- and I am glad I decided to order tonight ... It was absolutely delicious... Egg roll was cooked perfect, no oily after taste.. the shrimp were of good size, tasty and they had a nice crisp - snap to them.. like fresh shrimp should ... Thank you for making my taste buds happy...Smile - its still sundayv
This is definitely an excellent dining experience! Not your typical Chinese restaurant. Beautifully decorated. The menu may seem a bit pricey for Chinese food but you certainly get what you pay for because the food is high quality and delicious. The vegetables are super fresh, the scallops were great and the chicken in the chicken mein dish was high quality. The hot and sour soup was the best Ive ever tasted. You will not be disappointed!
Amazing Asian dinners and lunches. Beautiful dining area with lovely lighting tables and Asian Arts.w Buddhas for company :-) terrific prices and specials and all the hot tea you can drink. Wait staff very attentive. Our group the Plum Gang meets there monthly as we LUV this place ! Terrific for date nights too!
This place is absolutely beautiful inside. Woodworking all done by hand that draws you in and makes you feel right at home. The food is absolutely delicious and you will get full. From the free hard noodles with hot mustard and duck sauce to the free carafe of tea to get you started and settled in to the main entrees that are cooked to perfection that come with 3 or 4 choices of soup. I absolutely will not go anywhere else to get my Chinese food. From the owners right down to their staff you will not experience a more effervescent and professional group of individuals anywhere. Last but not least ... The price is just right. Go and enjoy this place like I have for years... You will not be disappointed.
This place is always delicious. You cant go wrong with any of their dishes. My favorites are the chicken and eggplant in garlic sauce, General Tsos chicken and the Beef Chow Fun (dry style). As for starters, the hot and sour soup and the fried squid are my favorite. I also love the ambiance and decor. Give it a try, you will not be disappointed.
Excellent Asian food, mostly Chinese but with unique preparation and display. Not your average corner take-out. I like the many vegetarian oriented dishes with their exotic sauces. Portions are decent but not huge and service is fast and personable, especially at off-peak times.
Food was delicious but service was horrible. Had to walk to hostess station to refill our own water glasses. Half my meal came and after 10 minutes had to remind the waitress about the other half. Waitress disappeared for large blocks of time and couldnt locate her. In Plum Blossoms defense, place was crowded and other wait staff appeared to be really hustling. Seemed to be a problem only with this specific server
Stopped in here on our way home from Albany. On the outside it does not look like much but when you go in it is just beautiful. Gorgeous wooden carvings. Atmosphere is wonderful. And of course the food was so good also. When you sit down they give you pickled cabbage (so yummy). But be caerful...I thought I was eating red cabbage (did not have my glasses on) but I found out in a hurry it was a HOT red pepper! I am extremely sensitive to spicy hot things. Everything else was so good. Cant wait till we can go here again. Plan on bringing company visiting us here.
This place has a great reputation. The pan fried dumplings were very good. So was the soup. Those I give 5 stars to. The sweet and sour chicken was good and so was the general tsao but just good not great. The service was a little behind. Maybe it was just an off day. I was expecting a little better, or maybe out local Chinese takeout place is better than I think?
Me and my family have been enjoying the food and service for over 3 years until approximately 6 months ago. Since then the food and ingredients has gone severely down hill, they cant even make a decent egg drop soup anymore. Most of the staff does not even speak English sorry to say used to love the place would never recommend it now
My family and I LOVE this place! Their food is always delicious! And their service at the restaurant is amazing. Im giving them 5 Stars even though whenever we get take-out from here we rarely ever get what we ordered, because no matter what we get its always delicious!! Just make sure you check whats in your bag before you leave, otherwise this place is amazing and totally worth it even when we make it home with the wrong food on occasion.
I have been here with my family before and always thought sit down was a little pricey but felt the portions were decent so I was ok with it. Well today proves that this restaurant is truly just looking for profit and doesn’t care about the satisfaction of its patrons. We ordered sweet and sour chicken priced at lunch price for 9.95 with soup and white rice. I received 8 pieces of chicken and when I asked it to be refunded for the lack of food they prompted charged me for the rice and soup separate since they had been delivered before the actually meal arrived. I’m absolutely appalled by this lack of customer service and recommend that you don’t patronize this establishment it’s not worth your time or money.
Plum Blossom is so much fun, beautiful interior. Food is some of the best I’ve ever had. The Lo Main was the best I’ve ever had. So enjoyed my lunch. Lunch partners experience was the same. Even the desert, Lava cake with ice cream was delicious. Will return many times in the future.
Best Chinese food in the capital district, def the best atmosphere for a Chinese place locally (along the lines of P.F. Changs) and the best prices considering the quality. Also, you cannot beat the service. The owner/manager is the sweetest man and always goes out of his way for the customers. Every time Im there, whether its an off time or packed dinner hours, he goes around periodically to tables to make sure the patrons are happy. Love this place, and have for over 20 years, and my 11 year old son loves it as well!
I have been here twice for takeout. Owners are very friendly and food is good, but not great. First time I got a Kung Poa Chicken, which was kind of bland - no real spice. Second time I ordered some Won Ton soup, which again did not have any flavor and the won tons were very large and mostly dough. Just my comments - I still gave it four stars due to how friendly the staff is. Ill try it again. Beautiful location - inside is gorgeous.
A great quiet, cute place to go for quality Chinese food. Im a little way away from it but its definitely worth the trip each time. The cost is maybe $2-3 more than the typical Chinese restaurant, but worth the price! They have awesome decor too! I included a photo of it below
I really hate not giving them the fifth star...they are awesome 99.9 percent of the time. Some times its a bit slow which is ok. The service is always very friendly and nice. The food is very good except when they are super busy. Some times when they are busy you can tell they had to rush and food doesnt come out quite as good. Take out especially seems to suffer when they are busy. Not to say that it still isnt good when it suffers. I would still rate a bad day at Plum Blossom better than most of the other places around. And at its best Plum Blossom is heads and tails above the rest.
Waiter was very efficient and friendly and we watched him work his butt off waiting a number of tables. Lady friend had a specialty noodle with curry dish that had just the right amount of heat. I had the sweet and sour pork where the pieces were huge, with the pork fried rice which was excellent. Prices are very reasonable here. My only comment was the lack of a physical bar to sit at, but was told thats what the construction in the back is going to be. Some nights we dont want to hunker down at a table but would prefer to sit at a bar and share appetizers. So well be back to check out the new bar!
I have been eating at the Plum Blossom for 30 years and the quality and atmosphere have been amazing throughout. The waitstaff are very friendly and eager to please. The food is prepared as ordered and is of four star quality. I recommend Plum Blossom to everyone who believes they have found the best Chinese food but havent eaten here. Their decision changes 100% of the time.
This was our first time there. The food fabulous. We had the dim sum to start, excellent, wonton soup, very flavorful. I had the shrimp with lobster sauce, very good, flavorful. My wife had a crab meat with wheat noodles lightly fried with mushrooms, (can’t remember name) but it was delicious n she got 2 meals from it. The waiter (name escapes me, gentleman with mustache) was excellent, very friendly n professional.Great experience, we’re definitely going back.
This is the best Chinese restaurant in the capital region. The portions are a little smaller compared to your average Chinese joint, but the quality is where its at! I have dined at quite a few restaurants in NYC that were not as good as this place. Also, the master carpentry work is amazing. We have always had a pleasant dining experience there.
Stopped in on a whim while traveling through. We were pleasantly surprised. The decor is quite unusual , interesting and oddly attractive. It was clean and well maintained. The food did not disappoint either. Traditional well done dishes and many that stray from the usual. A definite step up from your typical Chinese takeout places.
We caught them on a bad night where they had three call-ins(graduation day for a local college, the owner was working the hostess station where he thanked us for our patience and didnt begrudge them a day off for hangovers/celebrations). It was also Mothers Day and they had run out of a few items(which they had already sent someone to replenish). We were still seated promptly and our server explained that certain items may take a few extra minutes. No big deal. Food arrived at the time estimated by the server and the quality was still top notch. So even in a really bad situation, this place still performed admirably. There was no lack in the usual quality of the food, service was still great(just took a few extra minutes). Excellent even when their circumstances arent ideal.
My family has been going here for 20+ years. One of the best chinese restaurants I have ever visited in the Capital District. Fantastic soups, dumplings and the most amazing General Tsos I have tasted anywhere. Not to mention the amazing carvings and woodwork throughout the entire establishment.Recommend for a small lunch or a large gathering.
We drive down rte 7 ALL the time and never stopped here. We finally did and were happily surprised. The shrimp in coconut milk sauce over spinach noodles was AMAZING and no one ordered a dish we disliked. The decor is fabulous and its arranged so that you always have an aesthetic view (and it doesnt feel crowded.) Service was great, too.
Plum blossom is a great restaurant. The food is above quality and most the staff is concerned with your experience. The male host was unconcerned, when sat down he said okay and walked away. Thankfully our server was great and attentive. Would highly recommend this restuarant and ask for Vincent he made our experience all the better.
Just left without even being sat! We love the food and the service from the wait staff is usually great, but today was horrid. The line was out the door and the hostess had a huge attitude about having to do her job! 4 families in front of us walked out before we did before being sat because of her attitude also. Not a good face for your business. We wont be back to dine if we see her face. It shouldnt be a problem to take people to a table. I myself work in the industry and if anyone acted like that towards our guests they would be let go on the spot!
Ive never had a bad experience at Plum Blossom. The food is excellent, fresh, and always has been cooked perfectly with wonderful spice arrangements and sauces. The decor is absolutely beautiful and the staff is wonderful. If you like quality Chinese food this is the place to go.
Plum Blossom was recommended to me. Tried the takeout service tonight since I was just getting done working a long day. The food was delicious and fresh. I am very picky with Chinese Food, this restaurant I will definitely look forward to going to a nice sit down dinner with the family
The owner and crew members must be changed, because I am not able to recognize their manager nor any of the crew members anymore. Since be beginning of this year (2017), the overall service has dropped tremendously. On my visit last week, there are not enough waiters, resulting in very long seating time (13 minutes) even over half of the restaurant is empty. It took forever for us to get the food at that day too (43 minutes).
USUALLY this place has delicious Chinese food. Idk whats going on..if they got a new cook or what. But as of late the food has been disappointing. I ordered chicken and broccoli over the weekend, it was soupy and tasteless. My general Taos chicken was over done and dry.. Not to mention the portion sizes look like they have changed as well. And for the price tag, its become too inconsistent for me to place another order here again. Very unfortunate.
It was our first time there & my family of 5 were very impressed!!! The waitress was so warm and attentive!!!! The dinners were flavorful and exceeded our expectations. We ordered the crab ragoon for an appetizer, two of us had general tsaos, one scallops and veggie and one hunan dinner. We will definitely be back!
Excellent food, unique flavors and sauces, beautiful decor inside, it looks like a temple, staff are friendly and service is fast, prices are reasonable as well. Overall excellent and one of our favorite Asian restaurants anywhere. We have actually considered driving to Troy just for Plum Blossoms food.
Moved to Florida from Long Island 13 years ago. This was by far the best Chinese food Ive eaten since we moved. Reminded me of some of the exceptional places we used to patronize on the Island. Will definitely return each time we return to the Capitol District to visit my son and his family. If youve been craving great Chinese food dont miss this gem of a restaurant!!!
My coworkers and I ordered several meals yesterday while working at an urgent care since we are essential and working Christmas Eve and Christmas. My friend’s chicken lo mein had a live SNAIL in it. Several of us ordered the chicken lo mein. Was told by the owner that sometimes the snails are in the vegetables. So none of us ate our meals because there were vegetables in most of ours and not to mention we lost appetite and desire for the food after discovering the moving snail. Called the owner, they were busy so he said he would refund the full amount acknowledging that the snail was not supposed to be in there. However he called me back at 9:30 pm the same night and said $76 was too much to refund and that he would only refund partial. Called back this morning, now he is saying we should have brought the food back so they could take pictures for the insurance. None of this was mentioned on our call yesterday because he was busy and was probably not paying attention to what I was saying on the phone. Of course we don’t have our food with us today it was thrown out while we were at work. So he refused to refund anything at all and hung up on me. I understand restaurants are struggling right now, however something like this which violates health codes and questions the safety of all of their food there needs to be addressed appropriately, not with just a refund.
Plum Blossom is my favorite Chinese restaurant in this area, and has been for decades. The owners have worked very hard to create a beautiful, authentic restaurant in what had been a very ordinary space, with a menu that goes beyond what other Chinese restaurants here offer, and a kitchen which consistently delivers. The service is always good, and customer service is well above average.
Plum blossom has been a staple for us for many years having gone there since the late 90s. We moved slightly out of the area and have tried to make it a point to get take out whenever were passing through. Without fail the last four times we have called well in advance and showed up slightly after the estimate a time for pick up, weve had to wait an additional 20 to 30 minutes to pick up our take-out order. Most recently we called and showed up 30 minutes after they told us to be there and our order was not found. Sadly we had our two kids in the car and could not wait any additional time for them to rectify the situation. As such we were forced to go get dinner elsewhere in Troy. Im sure the food is still good but they wont be getting our business anymore due to the fact that it they are unreliable.
Ive been going to Plum Blossom frequently for the last several years. The food is pretty consistently delicious and the woodworking on the inside is beautiful. The staff are very nice but often seem overloaded and can sometimes lead to slowdowns on things like water refills or check delivery.
We cannot rate the food because we gave up before we ate. We stood for fifteen minutes waiting to be seated while the lone employee dealt with take out orders. He finally tried to seat people who came in after us. Upon looking at the menu, we realized it was going to be a $50 lunch. Forget it.
We have gone here multiple times and have enjoyed it. Yes, its over priced but for Chinese food but we have always had a decent meal. We ordered fried wontons as an appetizer. Luckily my husband bit into his first. They were shrimp wontons. Not mentioned anywhere. Well Im allergic to shrimp. I told the waitress that we couldnt have it because of an allergy and she took it away. Next, we get our meals which were combinations. Well the egg rolls served were shrimp and pork. She never said anything about it and again luckily when I opened one for my daughter I saw a piece of shrimp. I mentioned it again To her and she shrugged and walked away. Allergies are a serious thing! We wont be going back again .
We are a family of four. We came to this restaurant around 7:30 pm. We were waiting at the front desk. No one was working at the front desk. One waitress was a few steps away, taking used plates and glasses away and maybe doing some other things. There are plenty of empty tables steps away, but the waitress completely ignored us for about 10 minutes. Then a few people came to pick up food. The waitress came to the front desk and asked me how many people we had. Then she took care of the food pick up, and left us at the front desk without saying anything. Having waited for 15 minutes without being sat and having a chance even to look at the menu, we decided to leave and try another restaurant. We will never come back to this restaurant again.
The food is delicious, however the portion sizes for take out are way over priced. Would not order take out again. $25.86 for two small cartons and I had to pick up additional food elsewhere because it was not enough food for two people for dinner. One dish was just green beans and shrimp and one was house rice. Most places you would get egg rolls or white rice to go with it.
Plum Blossom was an unexpected treat. Although I have been a permanent resident of the Norhshires for over a decade, I never paid much attention to this busy roadside eatery. What s a mistake. The rooms of The Plum Blossom restaurant are beautiful to behold, fit for any party or business gathering. The menu is extensive an filled with both Chinese restaurant standards as well as some unique items. I will be back doon yo continue to sample the specials. The host and waitstaff were more like what I would expect at a city fine-dining restaurant, rather than a local roadside establishment. The prices were very reasonable. The drinks were wrll-made. There was no shorting of the proper amount of alcohol in my mixed drink. One sufficed me. It was an altogether fantastic experience. I highly recommend The Plum Blossom restaurant.
The food at Plum Blossom is second to none. I have enjoyed every dish I have ordered - the wonton soup especially! At times, the service can be quite slow - I have gone through entire meals without a single refill to my water glass, which can be frustrating. However, I do think that is limited to only a few servers, as I have experienced great service on more recent visits. The interior is beautiful, and the atmosphere relaxed and pleasant. And yes, it is more expensive than your run of the mill Chinese take-out, but dont forget... this is real food, done well - not fast food. You should expect to pay a bit more for it.
I will never be able to say enough good stuff about The Plum Blossom Restaurant. My wife and I often drive from Binghamton, NY to Troy, NY, 140 miles, just to go to The Plum Blossom. The food is the best. Very delicious, a good selection, very reasonable prices, a great atmosphere, and very friendly and super attentative staff. Our waiter that we usually have is phenomenal. It is like visiting cherished friends...with the addition of a fantastic meal. You have to check this place out on Hoosick Street in Troy, NY.
While the flavors were exciting the meats were tough and grisly. The service was good. Friendly atmosphere and oriental decor put you in the feeling . If they improve they can corner the local restaurant business. Their only competition any way is fast food and one decent mexican place, Panchos. Lee Tang, almost hidden was better but is closed now.
According to someone on wikipedia, the plum blossom is a symbol for resilience and perseverance in the face of adversity during the harsh winter and this restaurant lives up to its name. With such great food and an even friendlier staff, the Plum Blossom in Troy. NY is my new go-to for this upcoming Covid-19 winter when it comes to any sort of Asian cuisine. 5-stars, cant wait to try more new noodle suggestions.
Smallest portions ever! I usually spend $30 tops at any other Chinese food place. I spent $42 for my family of three, and we were all still hungry afterwards. The combination plates were about a quarter of the size they typically are. There was no meat inside of the wontons in my wonton soup! Everything was also pretty bland, except that the general tso’s chicken was really good... but there wasn’t enough for the three of us to share! Very disappointing.
Always great food : )Updated 9/2019: The Plum Blossom has fallen very far indeed. Their service takes an extraordinarily long amount of time, and the food is mediocre and vastly overpriced compared to newer restaurants in the area. The place is going to have to renovate and overhaul its menu to try and keep up
Just had take out that was very disappointing. The prices here are about the same or a bit higher than the other two chinese resturants in my area however you.get about a third less food for the same price. Ordered combo plates and got very small portions maybe a cup of fried rice with it. The other places ordering the same thing the container is so full you can barely close it. Also got crab Rangoon that was nothing more than some cream cheese and a few red specks of something. No crab to be found anywhere not even the cheap stuff. Very disappointed will not order take out here again.
I guess they dont need to make sure their customers are happy.....good for them. They must have enough loyal customers. I wont be back. They forgot a dipping sauce for the dumplings on my take out order. When I called to report this......he asked if I could come back. No I could not...I was home looking forward to sitting down to a dinner which I drove to, picked up and assumed was correct. He tells me that the sauce was not necessary and in the Orient they dont use the sauce. I explained that the dumplings are not good, in my mind, without the sauce. He snobbily replied that he would now no longer include the sauce with this particular item ......(little does he now that this will upset most people). I suggested he offer me a free dumpling order (approx. $5) for my trouble and my inconvenience. He refused. I guess 5 bucks is too much for him to make a customer happy....and 5 bucks is my cost...his is probably much less....I was not aware that these people were like this. ....vindictive and snobby...... Now I know.
Best chinese Ive had in NY. Period. If you like jasmine tea they have thier own home blend served at no additional cost and its perfect, I would go here for the tea alone but the Sesame Chicken is to die for. One thing of note, eat in dont take out. The sesame chicken tastes great fresh but once put in a container for enough time itll soften up too much and wont be nearly as good. The beef satay with its peanut coconut sauce is also incredible. 10/10.
I have been to the Plum Blossom many times the first being in 1986 and have found the food to be quite well. But on the last two occasions the food was horrible! The most recent was this past weekend for takeout. The egg-foo-young was disgusting! It was overcooked, thin, crunchy! Even the gravy was not that good. Out of the three patties I must have thrown away half of it due to it not be eatable. The second meal was Spicy Broccoli with tofu and rice. The broccoli was so water down that I have to drain out the brown sauce and there was no tofu. Even the container of white rice was not complete filled and had around 1/4 inch of room. The broccoli looked overcooked and were tiny pieces. If this meal had been eaten in the restaurant I would have sent it back. This meal somehow cost me $22. Not sure how that amount was determined but needless to say it will be a long time before I visit them again. :-(
FYI recently went to the Plum Blossom for lunch food was great, service good. Tonight we ordered take out, my wife called at 5:36 p.m. and was told 1/2 hour. We arrived at 6:00 p.m. As of 6:23 p.m. no food no explanation. If this was a one off so be it, its not, this happpened to us previously. We will never go to Plum Blossom again !Good LuckJOB
The staff were some of the nicest ive ever encountered in my life ,everyone took pride in what they were doing and that was easy to see.visually the building, the food and the presentation of the food was beautiful. The food itself was an rediculusly delicious some of the freshest chinese food ive ever had.i will absolutely be back.
So tonight I went there with my family to Enjoy my daughters Birthday 03/04/2019. We were seated quickly. We sat and waited for service. 5 minutes in they gave us water and were still seating and waiting. Finally another family comes in and Im not trying to be racial but Im going to call it as I see/felt it. They scuried to them took their order and were still sitting there with now some tea and noodles. Then the lady disappears behind the kitchen door and were still waiting. I got my family up and left. I was VERY DISAPPOINTED IN THIS RESTUARANT. MY MONEY IS GREEN AS WELL. WE WERE THEIR 1ST AND STILL WAITING AFTER THEY CAME IN. I WILL NEVER PATRON A PLACE THAT IS DISGUSTING AS THEY WERE TO US AGAIN. So Black Families if you want to spend your Hard Earned Money their have at it. I WARNED YOU AHEAD OF TIME. THAT IS ALL..
The atmosphere is an interesting mix of all the asain continent. It is an interesting place with good atmosphere. The food, well to be more specific, the chicken is not the highest quality. The breading for most of the chicken dishes tastes sweet like pancake mix, and the texture of the meat is that of a mushy chicken nugget, not a chichen breast. The wonton soup is more on the bland side but the other appetizers are pretty good.

2022-05-28Visited this place for lunch (dine in) and I was very impressed by the decor and look of the establishment. I had the teriyaki salmon w/ rice bowl and it was delicious! The salmon was crispy and juicy. The veggies were fresh and the rice cooked perfectly. My partner had the general Tso chicken. The chicken was so tender and juicy that I had to take a few pieces for myself lol . Over all Great experience visiting this place!

2021-11-25First time here and I will not be coming back. Ordered 3 soups, 3 appetizers and 3 dinners. Soups like dishwater. Dumplings awful. Singapore Street Noodles very bland. In fact everything we ordered was mediocre at best. Apparently they have no concept of Spicy Nothing had any spice or taste. Nothing tasted fresh. I love to eat. I love to cook. I would never serve anything like this to a guest. This was so disappointing. Bumper to bumper traffic to get here. Not worth it. $120 without alcohol. Takeout business was booming.

2022-04-17Atmosphere is awesome, staff friendly and efficient. Food is compatible to NYC Chinatown. Prices fair and portions generous. Love the PuPu platter. Not rushed which makes for awesome experience

2022-03-28When you first walk into this place you will be amazed. The decor, building structure and lighting are everything you would want when walking into a Chinese restaurant. The seating feels a bit upscale compared to a Chinese buffet, with tablecloths and hot tea served with your water. The menu has a large option of appetizers and entrees. I started with the wonton soup-- it was good, but nothing out of the ordinary. My entree was general tsaos chicken. It was served with rice and an egg roll. Again, good but nothing more than what you could expect at a Chinese buffet. We went on a Sunday at noon and it was not over crowded. Our server was attentive. What made me give this a 3 star was really just the food quality. The entrees were a bit pricy so I expected the quality of food to be better than I can get at a buffet. For the price I paid, I think Im better off just ordering Chinese at my local take out place next time and save myself the time waiting in traffic on hoosick street.

2022-02-14I don’t usually give any place a five star because no one is perfect but even as good as our meal was the lavender tea deserves five stars

2021-09-02I don’t usually write low reviews, but after a few sad experiences at Plum Blossom I must. Every time I order take out it is very inconsistent. The packaging and the food I actually get is never the same. Tonight, my order was missing 4 spring rolls that I paid for. Also, I was super disappointed with the chicken chow mein (picture added). I waited 30 minutes inside, making the total time from ordering 1 hour. Sadly, this means I will not be returning to Plum Blossom anymore.

2022-02-22This restaurant was recommended to me by my next-door neighbor. I’m new to the Troy area and I must give great thanks to my new neighbor. We ate inside on 02/18/2022 and the restaurant has beautiful atmosphere, gracious and friendly staff and absolutely delicious food. Picked up a go to menu on the way out. We will definitely be ordering to go or eating there again soon.
