Pod Times Square Hotel in New York

Rooms were clean, service was quick and they held your bags if you arrived early. Only caveat is that we asked if we could check in early and they said yes, but upon arrival they wouldnt let us check in until 3. After over 12 hours in flights and transfers it wouldve been nice to take a shower in our rooms.
If you are aware of what this hotel is offering (very small rooms, no daily housekeeping, no possibility of preparing your own food), this is the perfect place to stay. Personally I found the room very cozy, with a view on the Empire State Building, modern bathroom with a big shower, and very friendly and helpful staff. The subway and Times Square are not far. Perfect for a few days in the city!
Positive: The hotel is in a great location. Everything is easy to get to!!! Negative: I did not like thzt6the room did not have a mini refrigerator or at least a small microwave and the hotel doesnt offer/have any. Maybe a small room or space within the hotel with at least microwaves to use for the guest would be nice.
I have absolutely no complaints. I was able to check in early, and my room was upgraded. The hotel is in a great location, right next to the port authority train/bus station. Staff was friendly, I would definitely stay again. Thanks for letting me have a great birthday.
Great location! We got to New York around 6 am and they us do the check in to rest before! And we could left our luggage without any cost and easy! I would pjt 5 stars but they do not have a bathroom in the lobby for the guests. Otherwise, great stay! I will come back thank you
The only thing good about this hotel was the location. Stayed for 5 nights and only had the room cleaned once. Called for towels every night and most of the time just had to go down to the lobby to get them after waiting an hour to have them brought up. When we booked this hotel a few months ago, the website stated parking was available across the street for $30/day. Upon leaving and paying for the parking, it was over $50 a day. When we called the hotel to let them know, they said they were no longer in contract with this parking garage due to the garage losing a few levels and doing construction. Spoke to the manager at the front desk which was pretty much no help whatsoever. Best he could do was “waive the $10/day service fee.” Hah. Service fee for what? Not cleaning the room? Shouldn’t be charging guests in the first place. We then were told that he would give our information to the director who might be able to refund more due to our inconveniences. Haven’t heard one thing since. Do better.
Normally I stay at the Pod in Brooklyn (5 star rating by the way). But this time I thought I’d stay at the Times Square property for comparison.Aesthetically they are quite similar. The rooms are newish and well maintained. They are about the same size - small yet functional and comfortable. One big difference is that the toilet is not in the shower in the Times Square property. Makes no difference to me but for some …The Times Square property offered more and better placed device charging.Checking in was easy and the hotel has a young, trendy in the right way vibe. Efficient elevators too.The shower provided great pressure and hot water was nearly instant. Why a 4? The location isn’t the greatest. It’s adjacent to the bus station and on 42nd street - a major road in Manhattan. And it’s near the Lincoln tunnel. This all translates into noise and if you’re a light sleeper then you might not get the best night sleep.I’d stay here again in a crunch and if the price was right…otherwise I’ll stick with the Brooklyn property. It’s quieter and within walking distance of fantastic restaurants. Thanks for reading!
Has what you need, nothing you don’t. If you need a minibar and a big room, go to one of the other more luxurious hotels around manhattan. Very comfy and perfect for solo travels looking for cheap rooming. Check-in and Check-out was quick and smooth. Also they let me check in a few hours early.
I booked this hotel for 4 nights with a friend in a bunk room. For the price I was a little nervous but I could have not been more wrong! Fast, easy check in and check out. So many outlets near the bed & wifi that worked perfectly with no flaws. Felt very safe with card access being needed to access rooms. A perfect space for two people! Rooms were clean, shower was amazing. Beds were comfy and I slept amazing. Was nervous about the sound level as well because it was on a busy street & it was not loud whatsoever. Could not hear anything above us, or our neighboring rooms. In the perfect area with Times Square & subways in walking distance. Would absolutely stay here again, such an amazing price for a great stay.
The hotel was perfect for our stay. They accomodated my request for early check-in and late check-out. The room was exactly as described - clean, comfortable, and the location was outstanding. The staff was friendly and helpful. I will definitely stay here on future visits.
The rooms are small and there is no refrigerator (unless requested) or coffeemaker. The location right next to the Port Authority Bus Terminal is great. Its a good place to appreciate the Crossroads of the World. I would like to thank Saher for checking me in and enabling me to extend my stay here.
Stayed here a couple of weeks back whilst in NYC for my birthday. The fire alarm went off one night from about 2-3am and kept going off every 30mins or so until about 6-7am. A very loud voice came over the speaker system every time so abruptly to state that it was a false alarm and that we should ignore the sirens blaring in the room. Very little sleep that night. Anyway, that’s not the issue as we understand mistakes/false alarms can occur, the main reason for the 1 star review is the terrible service following this incident. Not a single staff member wanted to accept any responsibility for this and we were continuously told it wasn’t their fault. One staff member even told us we should be grateful that the fire alarm system worked. This was so frustrating as we were looking for was for the staff to accept responsibility for a fault of the business. We asked for compensation for basically having a rough night sleep, and all we were offered was the $60 service fee off our bill. Please bear in mind that this service fee apparently covered room cleaning and the front desk staff and we were told when we checked in that there won’t be any room cleaning because of the greatest excuse used today, covid. So we were effectively offered to have our bill reduced by an amount for a service that we didn’t even receive in any case. We weren’t happy with this at all and we’re told we had to speak with the manager if we wanted to take this any further - we waited the next day to finally catch the manager, who then reluctantly took a further $50 off. So if you ignore the service fee (for services not even received), we effectively received $50 off our $200 room for a rubbish sleep full of false fire alarms. When we got home, we emailed the Pod customer service team to outline how atrocious the customer service was. This was 2 weeks ago and we are still yet to receive a reply. And if Pod responds to this with the clique, “we’re sorry for this”, do not believe they care. We saw firsthand how their staff made us feel for their own fault, and it didn’t leave us with a pleasant taste in our mouth.
Don’t come here expecting luxury and you will enjoy this place. They don’t offer room service everyday, you have to request it. Never had this in a hotel before. House keeping didn’t top up our shampoo etc pumps which was annoying. But this pretty much is the only fault. Staff were super helpful and kind and especially the ladies at the front desk were soooooo lovely they complimented my nails!!! Super location and really appreciate how each floor on the lift could only be accessed by a room key. Eg we were on floor 21 and we can only go to that floor. The bar downstairs seemed super cool, shame we didn’t spend a night there but it seems great fun. Also was super quiet despite being smack bang in the centre of everything! Well done guys.
Just came back from a 7 day stay. The location of the hotel is perfect, very close to times square and the Broadway theaters, supermarkets nearby (target and 7/11) and a great diner for breakfast is also close (westway diner). With regards to the hotel, the room is indeed compact but has everything you need. Cleaning is done once every three days, but this was good enough for us; when we asked for fresh towels they were brought directly. Elevators are fast, wifi is good. All in all would recommend and come back again.
Might be the single worst customer service experience I’ve ever had, especially at a hotel. My booking was cancelled, without reason or notice. I suspect it was due in part to vast overbooking because there were several others outside making calls to their booking services. When I arrived the front desk woman I spoke to was extremely curt, asked my last name, then directed me to store my bags because my room wasn’t ready. She however did not confirm my reservation number or my full name, nor did she provide a general time I could check in.20 minutes later I went back up to confirm when I should expect check-in, this time I talked to a new person. She was polite, but after properly confirming my name and reservation number, I was told the reservation was cancelled (I did not cancel it or receive any notice whatsoever) and I would have to return 30 - 40 minutes later to speak to a manager. When I returned, it was the first woman I spoke with who was rude, short, dismissive and told me that their manager was also their Director and I would have to wait indefinitely to see IF the booking could be reinstated. I asked for a general timeframe, so I wasn’t stuck sitting in a hotel lobby for the entire day of my trip, and was met with blank stares and “He doesn’t tell us when he’s coming back, he just sent us a text saying he was stepping out”.As I stepped away, I saw the woman gesturing towards me and making faces toward her coworkers as if my cancellation and simple questions were a great inconvenience. I have never felt more dismissed as a customer. Simply being more polite or understanding in a customer service role goes a long way, and I received none of that. I hope that women receives more quality care in places she patronizes than she provides.I rebooked directly with another hotel, not wanting to wait indefinitely for the possibility of receiving a room.
I would have loved to give this place more stars, but they charge you a facility fee (which is funny as they dont even come to clean your room as many reviews said below as well) upon check-in which is nowhere listed by time of booking + a $50 security deposit, which they said would be refunded after checkout or in 10-14 days the latest. Its day 16 now and I still havent gotten my deposit back. Absolute shambles this place, scamming people for money like that.Avoid.Stay in Brooklyn. Cheaper accomodation of higher quality and it only takes 20-30min on the subway to Manhattan.
We’ve stayed here lots of times and have been really satisfied. Booked two nights this time around. Woke up in the morning and while I was making my bed, I found a used, disgusting throat lozenge stuck to the blanket I had used overnight. Not mine at all and completely disgusting. Told the front desk person who was pretty dismissive. She did agree to send us new sheets. I made it clear that we were going out for the day and needed someone to re-make the bed. Got back at night and found a pile of new clean sheets left on a chair in our room. No one even bothered to re-make the bed. Will just stay somewhere else in the future.
Had an excellent 3 nights stay.We arrived at 2am, Feb 4th, and the young woman with curly hair (sorry, forgot her name) was so polite, friendly and full of good energy. Very informative and helpful, and gave us a room upgrade for me and my wife (from bunk beds to queen). The hotel and room were spotless clean. Very good location. Liked the rooms lighting, the comfy bed, hot water, nice city view, strong wifi and the very convenient luggage storage. Theres no housekeeping for your room every day but we already knew it (and were also told at check in) and were ok with it. I think probably most of the bad reviews either people didnt know what they were booking or expected a luxury hotel (without having paid for it).We will definitely look to stay here the next time we go to NYC.
I have stayed at this hotel twice. The first time no issues. The second time they were very confusing about how much deposit was, charging the room costs, etc. Also a few rude people at front desk that were annoyed when we called to ask about costs and fees, but when we checked in the young woman was very nice. Overall clean place with good location, but I don’t know if I would stay here again after jumping through hoops with staff to figure out the costs and fees.
The staff was quick to fix any issues, the room was small but clean. One thing to note the rooms do not automatically have a mini fridge but you can request one for an upcharge(dont know the price, didnt ask). The beds were super firm so that may be a plus for some but I was not personally a fan. Its very minimalist but the space is used well and until I opened the window I did not realize just how well soundproofed it truly was from the outside noises. Location however has to be my top favorite thing we were walking distance to times square, a subway stop, and a plethora of restaurant options. It was also really secure feeling to get to the actual rooms you have to not only pass directly past the front desk but you have to use your key to get to your floor which was a nice touch. The only thing I would have preferred is maybe one more shelf for clothes and a little less firm of a mattress but overall I was quite satisfied with the experience.
Do yourself a favor and book a different hotel that’s honest. I called MULTIPLE times and was on hold 30-45 minutes every single time. I stayed here and was charged an extra night. I have my booking showing where I only booked for 2 nights. The girl at the desk that day seen it and said the manager would have to be the one to refund me. The manager came to the phone and said he would look into it and call me back at the end of the business day. That was almost a month ago and I’ve heard nothing. This was $200 that the hotel took and still hasn’t returned to my account or contacted me. I don’t want this to happen to anyone else so I’m leaving this review to warn you. Please do yourself a favor and just book elsewhere. This was my go to hotel in NYC, but I can’t stay at a place that’s dishonest and has terrible customer service. The day I checked in there was a big commotion in the lobby with a customer and the clerk. The customer asked for the manager several times and the manager refused to come. That’s what managers get paid for. It looked really bad on the hotel that there was a long line of customers waiting to check in and we heard the entire fiasco and one clerk is being tied up because the manager wouldn’t come resolve the issue to free up the other clerk to check in the other 6 guests. The clerks at the front were nice. I have no complaints about them. If you book at this hotel anyway make sure you check every single detail BEFORE you leave and get it resolved right then because if you don’t you will never be able to reach these people. I just want my money back I don’t understand why that’s so hard.
I have stayed at Pod hotels before and it was a good experience. This is a no frills hotel for a no frills price. This was not my favorite Pod but it wasn’t bad. The room was small but had storage and plenty of hooks. The bathroom was well-lit and has a large shower.Check in was longer due to all the people checking in on a Friday. Check out on Sunday was low-key and smooth. The staff was friendly and helpful. The room seemed to be sound-insulated since it was very quiet. My only issue was that I had maintenance issues that I requested get fixed and were never addressed. My room had the shower curtain track falling out of the ceiling, and there was a plug at the desk that didn’t work. While the plug could wait, the shower curtain was an issue I wish was addressed as soon as I brought it up. Oh well.I would stay here again and recommend it to those who want a small, basic room for a good rate.
This hotel had a lot of pros and some minor cons.Pros: prime location close to times square, rooms were clean and just enough space, price was good, offered free tours of the city, staff were friendly and very helpful. Our AC wasn’t working properly and they sent someone to fix it quickly. It worked well the rest of the trip. You could only get to the rooms if you had a room key which made us feel even safer in the city.Cons: WiFi/internet was very spotty and AC made a weird banging noise on our last night that woke us up multiple times. Luckily it only happened the one night. No fridge but we didn’t really end up needing one.Overall it was what we needed and I most likely will stay again.
Amazing clean rooms and comfortable bed in a great location. This would be a 5 star rating if it wasnt for the fraudulent charge for $1099.28 made several hours after checking out that also overdrafted my card. The charge was made at their hotel but after contacting them, they have no idea who made the charge, where it is from and cannot reverse it since it wasnt made under my name or room. Their solution was to just make a fraud claim with my bank even though it was made from their own system. So pay cash or pay using a card at your own risk.
Its location is really nice in times square but room service is non existant. We asked 2 times to clean and change the towels, they apparently do it different days, but nothing happened.Nice place to stay for a short stay, but bare in mind that for longer stays they wont clean even if you ask.
My son and I stayed at the Pod Times Square for 10 nights beginning the middle of March. This trip had been delayed 2 years due to COVID and family health issues. The property is exactly as advertised: excellent location, clean, comfortable and friendly customer service. I was blown away by the quality and service. In fact, it exceeded my expectations. The bunk beds were comfortable. The room has high ceilings, 10ft at least, that give the illusion of a larger space. The view south down 9th Avenue from our window on the 22nd floor was magnificent. The square footage of the room was listed at 115sq/ft so I was skeptical of the private bath. It was better than most hotel bathrooms in rooms twice the size! The shower is huge and the floor to ceiling frosted glass walls made the bathroom feel larger than it was. The economical price of the room allowed my son and me to double the length of time we had planned for our original trip in May 2020. Its located a block from the 42nd Street PATH Bus Terminal and subway access and 3 blocks (5 minute walk) from Times Square. There are restaurants, taverns and coffee shops all around the block and a full grocery store across the street. I cant say enough great things about this property and our experience staying here. The memories we made, in large part due to The Pod, will certainly last a lifetime and both of us will definitely book a stay here again the next time either one or the both of us return to the city! Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU!!!
Great and affordable experience. This hotel is good for those who do not need extra amenities- if you need a spacious room, coffee, refrigerator, etc this is NOT the hotel for you. But if you want a simple place to sleep in for a few days in a good location, this is a good hotel. Great for one solo traveler. If you are sharing the room with someone make sure you are comfortable with them. The toilet and shower is not very private. I stayed with my long term partner, therefore this was not an issue.+ pros + - convenient location easy access to buses subway penn station, clean room, the windows open which is great for fresh air, lots of light, nice trendy bar onsite, friendly front desk agents, wonderful service, hot water, adjustable thermostat, tv, lots of USB ports, good sound proofing from the outside- cons - small room, can hear neighbor doors slamming, toilet and shower is not very private(can hear and see everything), some of the outlets didn’t work and shower head was loose on wall (room needs some minor maintenance) ground floor entrance area was a little dirtyWould stay here again.
Positive: Location is good, but the staff here are the best feature. Negative: Unfortunately, the bed was incredibly uncomfortable which is not experienced here before. And even though I was on the 8th floor it was still incredibly noisy on the back side of the hotel. Try to get a room on the 15th floor or higher.
Completely happy with this plcae. Super affordable. Very clean. We had a bunk room. Yes, the room is very small but it didnt bother us at all. After being out and about you dont need the rest of the room. All you want to do is rest. We never felt stuffy. The view was very nice and made all the difference. The two individual TVs was a great idea. As a mom who was traveling alone with my son a huge thing for me was safety. Especially because I saw the reviews for a hotel very close by and they were concerning. I didnt feel unsafe at all here. You need a room key card to access the elevators going up to the rooms. The area stays busy and is well lit. The location is amazing. The bus stops at the corner. We were able to ride the bus to many attractions. The subway is very close too. We used the subway to get here from the airport and it was about a 3 min walk so very close. Theres plenty of food choices near by. Theres a store next door and market around the corner. Times Square center was about two blocks down. Everyone was friendly. The shower was great and the water was hot which is nice because i saw that some hotels had an issue with no hot water. I will say the pillows could be better and it would be nice if they added a mirror in front of the desk so it could double as a vanity. It would make all the difference when two ppl are trying to get ready. Overall Im thankful for this place and its affordability with no catch and no compromise. It helped make it possible for little ol me to travel to this amazing city on a budget. 🙂
The hotel itself was great , easy access, check in was smooth no issues what so ever the room was decent had the bare necessities, the best part was the shower. Amazing water pressure but the bed was absolutely horrendous. It was so hard it felt like the springs were hitting me directly on my bones
Well if youre looking for hotel with good price, great location, clean, modern and compact, you have found the perfect place. Helpful staff. The room is nice and clean. Modern style, you’ll love it. Location is 10/10. Definitely stay again in the future. Can request kettle if you want it. Nearby is a halal turkish restaurant. 7 minutes walk to Times Square. Overall I am very satisfied with my stay here. Thank you Pod Times Square
Solid stay right in the middle of Manhattan. Rooms are small but they have everything you need: bed, bathroom, tv, some space for luggage. Shower also includes plenty of shampoo, body wash, and conditioner and it gets very hot. The bed is ok, not the best but not terrible. Rooms all have pretty great views too!The luggage storage is also a really nice service to use, makes it easy to explore the city while keeping your luggage safe. You take the ground floor elevator up to the lobby, but a second elevator is needed to get to your room. This helps keep things safe by ensuring random people can’t reach your floor. The restaurant has great drinks! The rooms could have been a bit cleaner, there’s some dust in some areas and smudges in others. The sheets were clean and the bulk of the room was too. This is a great stay if you’re looking for more affordable options around Times Square!
The front desk agent was nice and efficient. A guy in front was nice enough to show me how to get to the upper floors. The room was another story. It seemed clean at first. Later when I got ready for bed, I noticed a foul odor. It smelled like urine and like someone left fish out. I realized it was the carpet and the mattress. I wasnt sleeping on that bed. I laid down then got back up when I smelled the bed. I wound up nodding off on the hard chair. My head was on my bag on the desk. I dont think I slept an hour. I think there may have been a leak above that room before. It seeped into the carpet and bed. If not, a disgusting person relieved themselves in there. That still doesnt explain the horrible fish smell.😫 I had a horrible night in that room. I also threw away everything I slept in. Felt nasty.😒😞
Superb location between the lights of Broadway and the lovely restaurants of hells kitchen, this hotel is walking distance to everywhere plus all the metro, trains, busses and ferry are near by. The rooms are small with no thrills but very quiet and with new finishes. The staff is always available and very gentle. Onky laks of a breakfast or a place for a good morning coffee (a coffee machine in the lobby would be nice) the only place is serafina that open at night hours and is a well hide discotheque if you like. And it got a very nice and very small terrace to make your own al fresco dinner. Certainly going back and recomend.
The rooms are tiny. Even on the 22nd floor, I hear all the noise coming from the streets and couldnt sleep. The cleaning lady accidentally has thrown away my container - I contacted the hotel already to pay for the expenses (over 200 USD) but no reply so far. Cannot recommend at all!
If you like to hear a fire alarm go off from 2am to 6am; pay 200 dollars for a night of no sleep and on top of that have housekeeping knock on your door at 9am and 10am asking you if you’re checking out soon (but you have a late check out at 1pm) THIS IS THE PLACE FOR YOU!Wow, never in my life have I had such a bad experience at a hotel. No sleep, no communication and when you speak to the front desk staff, they’re so extremely dismissive and unhelpful. Please don’t go to this hotel if you like your sleep. Or just not to be disturbed for a bit.
Pod Times Square hotel was great! Shout out Shonna she’s great. I’ve been here twice and have had overly positive experiences. This review will especially written for those who want to learn more about the experience of being here.So first of all, there are some important things to remember.1. To use the ~6 elevators out the main lobby to the hotel rooms, you need to use your guest key card. Tap the hotel room key to the black scanner below the number pad, then press the floor number on the touchscreen. Idk if they have a sign I’ve missed, but quite a few people have been confused so I wanted to clarify.2. Next, the showers are a *little confusing*. There are 2 knobs. 1 controls the temperature. (Left?) Turn it one way for hot, one way for cold. The other knob (right?), turn one way for shower head then the other for rainfall shower. Always takes me a min.The experience has always been great. Each time I’m there, (staying 1 day as a solo traveler) I somehow always get upgraded from a bunk to a full or queen. Again, last time I was there Shonna upgraded me after we had a really nice conversation. Always appreciate that they’d do something nice, especially since customer service can be *rough*. Really really appreciate it tbh.Weirdly enough, this place straight up seems to be better than hotels at higher prices and stars. I’m this price range, this hotel blows the other ones outta the water. As long as you don’t mind having a room the size of a small bed room.
If I could give this hotel 0 stars I would. I recently stayed at this hotel for a work event where my boss paid for more than 20 rooms. Not only were the rooms tiny and felt claustrophobic, the employees are thieves. I stayed one extra night so I could enjoy the NYC light one more time and I left with utter disappointment. Upon my checkout, I ordered myself an Uber to catch my flight, 10 minutes after I realized I had left behind some belongings (jbl speaker, charger, and AirPods) I quickly called the hotel to ask if they had my stuff or if they could do me the Favor of checking my room. I was told my room had not been cleaned yet and that I could come back to gather my stuff. When I arrived at the hotel I once again told the concierge my situation. MY STUFF WERE NO LONGER THERE. Shockingly, the room had been cleaned and unoccupied. Never did I recover my stuff but the audacity to steal after I was told they were probably still in the room is the main reason I am writing this review.
This place deserves legit 5 stars!!! We stayed for 2 weeks and will even stay for longer. We had a bad experience at a super host owned airbnb where I lost all the money and booked this place due to great reviews. This place won’t disappoint you ever! I am paying for 2 paces in Manhattan due to the bad Airbnb experience and so grateful we chose Pod. It’s been a smooth seamless experience. Great staff, clean, responsive and great value for money. Will never book airbnb again as they even refused to refund my money
Positive: Nothing. Worst hotel experience weve ever had. It ruined our NYC experience and trip. I could not wait to check out and go home. Front desk people were super rude entire stay, room was so small you couldnt even open your suitcase, poorly designed rooms. Negative: Location-awful, dirty, super noisy, never slept entire stay, no vending machine,no ice machine,no bathroom in entire hotel except in your room, no frig to store drinks have to use your key to use elevator. Zero amenities but charge a nightly amenity fee.
Positive: The staff was all very friendly and helpful! I would not reccomend this hotel for older people, it is a small clean space but two would have been crowded after you have been married for a while. Lol Negative: I wish there was an ice machine and vending area, however the restaurant was happy to fill my cup with ice water, so it was only a slight inconvenience.
Location was pretty good - it’s a short walk from Times Square and a lot of food in Hell’s Kitchen. The room was small - opening a luggage takes up almost the entire walkway. Luggage is stowed under the bed. My luggage was big though so it could not fit under completely. The bed is a double, which was good enough for us. The bathroom was big though. And there are many hooks to hang stuff along the wall which help with the small space. What wasn’t good:- the room door lock was spoilt so it could not be locked from the inside. We used the flip latch for safety.- the USB ports next to the table were not working.- the hairdryer was spoilt, we had to call for a replacement, which took a while due to staff shortage.- one of the bed reading lights was spoilt.- room Wi-Fi was very slow. Ended using my mobile dataHope that can all be fixed.
Pod Hotel was a disappointing experience for me, specially in terms of guest support, well being, safety and security.During the night between Friday (Jun 10, 2022) and Saturday (Jun 11, 2022) I was on my way back to the hotel and I suffered a random attack near Pod (W 42nd x 9th Ave). One guy just punched me in the face, with no reason and without any provocation. I fell on the ground, stood up in a jump and ran to the hotel, in shock and bleeding.Security asked me to go back to the street to try to search for who did it. We didn’t find anyone. We came back to the lobby and I noticed that one of the security guys was laughing at me. They gave me gauze to clean the blood, an ice bag and told me to go back to my room and get to sleep. They didn’t call and neither offered to call 911. It was late, I was tired, afraid and in shock, so I went back to my room, got a shower and tried to sleep.During checkout I discovered that NO ONE from the morning shift knew about it, including the chief of security (neither an incident report nor a sticky note about an attacked guest). After listening to me, he admitted that the security team didn’t act as expected.I went to the police station and filed a report, which I showed later to the chief of security. He said that someone would call me to explain what they would do about the situation. They’ve never called.I do not recommend this hotel to anyone, since they are not worried about the guests safety. I did not feel supported and they really didn’t show care, at least.
DO NOT USE THIS HOTEL IF YOU DONT HAVE A CHIP CARD!!!!!!!!!!Was left stranded in NYC because of this location. I prepaid and brought the card I prepaid with to use for the deposit. I was told when I gave them my card that they only took chip cards and that I could “maybe try YOTEL down the street, they have mobile check in”. The woman who claimed to be the front desk manager was extremely rude and definitely should NOT be a manager.0/10 I would never give this place a (second) chance. There’s cheaper and better hotels in the area. I’m out $300 in transit cost and a day of my time because this company couldn’t be bother to place a notice about a policy on their site.
The worst experience ever. It takes forever for us to check in. The morning after we checked in, the false fire alarm ring at 5 o’clock in the morning. The stuff claim it was a false alarm but it ring again at 6:10, third time at 6:28, forth time at 6:40. And again, these are all false alarm. No one did anything to try to stop it or explain to us why this is happening. As a hotel, it doesn’t even serve a most basic needs. Sorry for being a angry consumer here, but we only slept four hours and it has been a angry experience.
Positive: The convenience to just about everything we needed. Minutes away from some of our favorite places to eat and the theaters, a short train ride or walk elsewhere. Though the rooms were small, they were packed with everything youd need for a hotel room! Negative: A few issues with the room (broken bathroom door, finicky light under the bed that took sorcery to turn off after use, and a phone that didnt have the actual receiver work), but these were not big enough issues to cause us to want to move from our room!
The place is ok - barebones, but has what you need for a place to sleep. My issue was that the heat could be set to a maximum of 75 degrees (though it never got that warm) and the blanket on my bed was paper thin. Therefore I froze all night and got very poor sleep. It was also quite noisy in the early hours of the morning, though I might have otherwise slept through it if I wasnt half awake from the cold.To be fair they may have been accommodating and provided more blankets if I inquired about it, but it was very late by the time I got in and I didnt notice about the blanket until I crawled into bed. By that time I was exhausted and didnt feel like going back to the lobby. On other trips to NYC I stayed at CitizenM. They use the same concept of small minimalist hotel room but its a step up, and they provide warm blankets!
This hotel is ideal for travelers looking for a nice place to crash for a couple of days in manhattan. The location is excellent being nearby times square, 42nd St. metro/subway station, and restuarants. The bunk room that I stayed in was very clean. The bed was comfy, and the shower was roomy with hot water. The shower had peculiar controls and I couldnt figure out how to get the main shower head to work (not a big deal) but the hand held shower worked just fine.Let me just add this...reviews complaining about the rooms being small make no sense to me....Its called The POD hotel and its in New York City. Hotels in NYC are traditionally small. Please also keep in mind that were going through a pandemic so service will not be as we knew it in the pre-pandemic era. There are also reviews complaining about not getting cleaning service during their stay. The Pod staff gives you written information explaining to you about the change in service. If you need more towels or the trash taken out all you have to do is make the request as stated in the pamphlet. The service in my opinion was very good. Shanna made both the check-in and check-out process quick and easy for me. She gave me all of the information that I needed during check in, plus I was offered a 20% discount at the restaurant inside the hotel, and a free cocktail drink at the roof bar (nice touch). On top of all of that Shanna committed my name to memory.... That blew my mind!Overall, I had a great stay. I would definately stay here again. If I had to change one thing about the hotel I would add more lighting in the hallways. Outside of that the hotel had everything I needed during my stay.
0 stars. If you value youre stuff do not stay here they will steal it and act like they know nothing about it, but really they are all in on it they will shut of their cameras and when you ask to see the cctv footage, their excuse is ooo the camera is down. If you do use this low life hotel lock your stuff up bring your own towel so you dont have to ask em for anything. PS pay cash you been warned.
Positive: The location is good and mostly the the staff except for the first person who checked me in are friendly Negative: I would NEVER stay here again. Room was freezing, the heating did not work. No black out blinds; no comforter/duvet only a thin blankets, I had to ask for 3! Drunk stag parties; hotel smelled of weed. Noisy & unsafe, extra fees on arrival
We stayed here in October for 4 nights. All the staff were friendly and they organised a car for us to get back to the airport at the end of our stay. Room was small, but New York small so it was fine. Bathroom was clean with good toiletries supplied. The hallway smelt of pot when we arrived but after the first night it disappeared. Good location for most things. Would stay again.
The price and location are hard to beat. However the rooms themselves arent fantastic. Its a bed for sure and thats really all you need in NYC the shower is the shining star of the room its really big which means it takes up half the room. The bed itself wasnt super comfortable.for me but admittedly Im particular about what I want in mattress. The view from the room is pretty cool there is a sheer drop which adds to the hugeness of the view.Overall its nice for the price. I think most people might be better served paying a bit more for a nicer room but there really isnt too much to complain about.
Just the right price and just the right space. It is super efficient space. Lights that pull out from the head board, hanger hooks to laid flat when not in use and sliding door are of the few things that helps this place do more with less. The front desk, that in like the 3er floor, staff was super friendly and helpful. I am not happy with heights,so they try to get me closer to the ground floor as possible. The place was super clean. I have stay in other hotel in the area that are more expensive dirtier and much smaller. This place is close to every thing you might want to go see in mid Town. And they had a board with information on affortable activities in the area. They had info a walking tour of some sort. If there is one bad thing I have to say in the glass elevator. I was scare 😱 you can see the mechanism as you go up and down. And that there is not coffee i have an addiction and want coffee at all time. Reservations were easy to make and the prices were great. They have a 15 dollar feed for something and rrequires a 50 dollars deposit. Will definitely will be staying there again.
A minor flooding in the bathroom (from the shower) and the day after they offered to assign a new room on the 17th floor. Though smaller, it was way better than the first one : Hudson side, nice view, comfy and quiet (yup, even this close to Times Square). The bathroom was OK but it could really use one or two shelves. The check-out process at 5 in the morning was surprisingly hectic and I guess the front desk clerk didnt like the rush because he turned out a bit rude. Not so good for a last impression...
If you care even 1% about COVID safety protocols do NOT come to this hotel... I called the morning of my reservation saying I had covid and I would like to cancel and they informed me no cancellations and no credits... I said OK so you would prefer I expose your staff and other guests to COVID than give me a credit? The staff member reiterated they would not give me a refund or anything. I will have to report this to the department of health next. Shame on them for being so unaccommodating and careless with the health and safety of others during a global pandemic. ZERO STARS
Pod Hotels are perfect for the traveler that just needs a place to sleep and shower since they spend almost all of their time sightseeing, eating, drinking, and exploring. As such, for these types of travelers, there’s no point in paying a ton of money for a nice spacious room that they never spend time in.That’s what I like about this concept. If you’re this type of traveler, Pod is for you. Basic space at a budget price but still centrally located to all the major attractions in the area.
The room exceeded my expectations. First off, it was quiet (except for regular New York noise you cant escape), clean and the bed was comfy. The bathroom is fairly large. View was great. Theres lots of hooks and a safe provided. Standard safety locks on the door. Pillows were supportive and soft. Great place for a quick stay. For the doubles, each person gets a TV that you can connect your own headphones (aux or Bluetooth) to and you each get a switch for a light. I stayed on the bottom bunk, but the ceilings are high so the top bunk wouldnt seem crowded.View was nice, but not sure if I just got lucky on that one!
This is a hotel for people who are staying in New York for the right reasons. You shouldnt be in your room much, so all you need is a clean and comfortable place to sleep! The location is great, especially if youre seeing shows and doing a fair amount of things in Midtown, but is also close to a lot of transportation options to get anywhere relatively quickly--including connecting to LGA or JFK easily. The beds were comfortable and shower was fantastic. Loved all of the USB ports. Staff was helpful and friendly at check-in, and when we needed something in our room, they sent it up quickly. It was a perfect place to rest after a long day out in the city.
The rooms and hotel are actually generally ok. I would give this hotel a 3 or 4 of not for some very bad circumstances. First off, when checking in it took 20-30 minutes to get through a line of 3 people. Luckily we got in line when we did because the line got to about 15 people long after us. The lobby was very hot, but we didnt think anything about it until we got to the room. It was very warm. We changed the thermostat to 65 but the ventilation continued blowing hot air. We called the front desk 3 times before someone answered and told us it was a known issue for the entire building. Our room was 81°F and had NO way to cool it down. We got food from the restraunt in the lobby and it was decent, just smaller portions. When we went to go check out the next morning, there were 2 people in front of us and again in took 15 minutes. Then when we asked about the discounted parking rate advertised on their website, they told us they no longer have a relationship with the garage and wed have to pay full price ($55 vs $25). They still had this policy advertised and it was one of the reasons we chose this hotel. Overall terrible experience even though the hotel itself was more or less fine.
Generally, the hotel has a perfect location with clean rooms, which are sufficient for a city hotel and more than appropriate considering the price. However, a big point of criticism is the service in the hotel; especially the reception staff is extremely unfriendly. We had to experience different inconveniences during our stay, including the fact that we had to move into another room after the first night, because the room category we originally booked and payed for wasn’t available upon our arrival. Due to this inconvenience, the reception manager promised us to waive the service fees for our stay. Despite this promise, the fee has been debited from our credit card and hasn’t been reimbursed yet. Moreover, the hotel hasn’t responded to our mail, in which we explained the situation and asked for the promised reimbursement. Apart from the fact that we never received any form of apology for any of the inconveniences, it is absolutely unacceptable that a hotel promises to make a reimbursement, later on doesn’t adhere to it and moreover ignores mails regarding the situation. Due to this behavior on part of the hotel we unfortunately couldn’t give a higher rating.
This is very much you get what you pay for. Was just looking for a cheap hotel for a last minute weekend trip. The staff was so helpful and the hotel was clean. The rooms are tiny but i knew that going in. I also knew there were no amenities but i mean absolutely none. I think i assumed wed still have an ice bucket and coffee maker but no. Theres absolutely nothing at all. But once again, I knew going into it this was a no frills hotel. And for what this trip was, it was fine. Had i stayed any longer, id have been booking a different hotel. We had a bunk pod so I spent a lot of time on my bed when we were in the room cuz there was no room for two people any other way. The beds each have their own TV and cubbies to hold your phone and headphones and I put my water on top. Lots of charging ports with the beds and around the room. Yes, this was the most basic place Id ever stayed but i am happy with this hotel and would keep it in mind for a 2 night stay again.
I was staying at the end of August 2021, the hotel itself was fine, only they should be more pending for cleaning, in relation to towel changes and garbage collection, in the time I stayed I never changed towels or picked up garbage, air conditioning was dirty and not cool well. Other comfortable beds, employees were not very sociable but treated you well, the price is well-economic. If I go back to New York, Id be staying again, its recommendable.
The location is perfect being just a block or two from the Port Authority Bus Station and Times Square. The bunk bed room is excellent for up to two people for one or two nights. It’s superbly comfortable. If you press the little button on the shower, the water will go above 100 degrees which is perfect when you are travel weary. There is a Serefina restaurant on the lobby level. It’s swanky and we’ll appointed. The food and service was wonderful. I had the pleasure of meeting Shawn, the manager I think… and Madelyn the server. The place is just beautiful to have a drink or two. The front desk always seemed to be in a frustrating disarray. Both when I checked in and at check out. The attendant actually flagged me away when I dropped off my room keys. I felt a bit dismissed. She didn’t ask me how my stay was or if I wanted a receipt. She didn’t even WAVE goodbye. Other than that, I had a lovely experience and I’d stay there again.
Love this hotel. Stay here every time I’m in NYC. Always reasonably priced and so much nicer than even some of the “high-end” chains in the city that rebrand a glorified old apartment building. Helpful and friendly staff as well. Always recommending this hotel to friends.
Ive stayed at multiple pod locations over the years and was never disappointed. Yes its small but its cost effective. Its clean, comfortable, sound proof and has a good wifi. Thats all you need ! Room cleaning is limited since COVID but its like that in other hotels Ive been too. A great place to stay in NYC
The location is safe and close to everywhere. The staff was polite. The rooms were clean, however, I stayed in the room with bunk beds and it was so small that I could empathise with prisoners in a jail cell. Overall, for the location and to just sleep for a few nights, its not bad for the price.
A professional, reputable, and excellent crew like Mark was awesome to deal with. I was truly impressed by how He handled the service correctly with no hassles at all. I wont forget to tell all of my co-workers and relatives about this hotel for sure. No hidden charges compared to others as well. Try their services and you won’t regret it for sure. Outstanding place!
The location of the hotel is very convenient but everything else is terrible.Lets start how was my stay there, tiny room like the smallest room that i ever saw in a hotel, they will clean the room before and after you get out there(check out) , yes your room gonna be dirty meanwhile you there. No breakfast nada, they have gym photos on Google but actually there, they dont have a gym. If you going to check out and youre in the lobby it had a terrible line most of the times and you ask for a restroom the answer gonna be, sorry we dont have restrooms... The price that i pay for 2 days was 476 dollars! All my friends, including me will never go again to any pod hotel worldwide, i dont recommend anyone to go there. There are far better options around.
I stayed here during my first visit to New York City, and I was very pleased! Although this hotel does not have all of the amenities of a regular hotel, it has just what you need. There is always someone around who can give you more tissue, more towels, and anything else that you may need including taking out your trash. I had a small problem with the lights automatically turning on because of the sensor, but they had someone come to my room quickly to turn it off and I was able to go back to sleep peacefully. I also made a request to have a view of the city, and the staff honored that which I was very happy for.The staff was very nice, and I would highly recommend staying here if you’re on a budget.
Wonderful hotel with a great view of the city. Right next door to Theater Row if you want to check out a show. Great staff, clean, beautiful rooms. Excellent location right near subway stations, restaurants, coffee, etc. Perfect for the solo traveler. Another reason to love New York!
Very clean, modern, w/great little subway tile bathroom (plenty of hot h2o/good pressure, decent towels + soaps) & wonderful city views. Windows open, AC worked ok. Lots of tv/movie channels but I didnt notice a streaming option. Good location, just west of Times Sq and downtown from Hells Kitchen; lots of dining options, not too far from subways. Friendly, competent service. No waiting for elevators or check-in/checkout.Rooms are small, well laid-out and not much different sizewise than many newer nyc regular hotel rooms. Sheets were pretty good but bed is mediocre, just an inexpensive, not-too-comfortable mattress in a frame. Pillows were poor (thin, soft & lumpy) but at least there were 4 of them. Excellent soundproofing from outside but thin guestroom walls - neighbors were all fairly responsible like respectful travelers though, so no major noise issues. No fridge or ice available, no facial tissue in room, no closet - just hangers on a rack. My phone and safe didnt work but didnt need them. Plain alarm clock in room with small desk and chair. Sliding blinds/shutters (no curtains) worked well. Younger crowd and crew. All considered, if you can get around the no-ice/no-Kleenex thing, this is a super place to stay [if you dont plan on spending your entire stay in your hotel room], especially when you consider how their rates stack up against the competition.
I loved my stay here at The Pod.If youre coming to New York, specifically Manhattan, Id definitely recommend this place. The rooms are small, but, smartly designed. Its very clean, and the service was GREAT!It was easy to grab a bus or subway to any place I was going, and, Id stay here again, no doubt.
The room was okay for the price and we did enjoyed it. When we tried to check in early the front desk was incredibly rude about it and to come back until 3pm. When we tried to check in at 3pm, my card wasn’t going thrue because it was kinda damage. Then after she proceeded to bending my card pretty harsh like that was going to help. Upon check out the front desk lady was on her phone the whole time and never looked up as I was talking to her.
I would not recommend this hotel. The receptionists/managers are rude, disrespectful and highly unorganized. The rooms are outdated, the bathroom has water damage in the ceilings, the tap water does not get any warmer than room temperature, and the drain is extremely slow. The receptionist or manager that checked me in attempted to charge my credit card without telling me how much was due despite me explaining to her that my stay was already pre-paid. I kindly asked if my Uber eats order could be delivered to my room by one of the workers because I was in an important meeting at the time and to my surprise, the receptionists were mocking and laughing at me over the phone before realizing they hadn’t fully hung up. The rates are affordable, however, you will not be receiving the value of what you’re paying. Avoid this place if you can, 0/10 recommended.
The staff was very welcoming and friendly. Everyone was so polite, their service was really great. As cheap as their rates are, my room had a wonderful view of the city. The rooms were neat and well lit. I wanted a late check out because my flight was not until evening and I was allowed to stay for free till I left. I recommend them if staying in the Times square area 10/10
Positive: Great location within walking distance to food and entertainment, helpful and professional staff, absolutely gorgeous view of the city from my room. Negative: The room only had two small trash cans, which made storing trash after eating a bit messy. There was also a fire alarm that went off at 3am my last night there, but thats on the guests smoking in their room, and not the hotel itself.
Pros- Quite central, but the area is non-inspirational- Some staff were nice- There are some higher floors that are insulated from noiseCons- Extremely rude reception manager. When I was checking in at 11:30pm, I was kept waiting for 40 mins due to a computer error. When it was finally resolved, I said it was not ideal. He stared at me aggressively as if he wanted to say f* off- That same reception manager copied my card details onto a piece of paper so that he could transfer them between two computers. Not sure if there was malicious intent, but come on! Writing my card details on a piece of paper that he would have kept? I asked for that piece of paper back but I think its scandalous- Towels in the room were washed, but stained- Iron provided upon request had a dirty bottom and was unsuitable to iron my shirt
I had an excellent stay at the Pod Hotel Times Square. The location was great and the price was very affordable. The rooms are definitely a little bit small but great for tourists who just need a place to crash. Everything was extremely clean and the staff was very accommodating with early check in and late check out.
First off they didn’t have my reservation. That can happen but the fact that I waited an hour and a half and was forgotten about was disturbing. I didn’t mind how small the room was but the water was lukewarm and getting anything from the front desk was impossible. Finally, I get back home and my credit card is charged by Pods and I have no idea why but I cannot seem to get in contact with anyone at the Times Square location to ask why it was charged. I explain to the representative that keeps transferring me that no one is picking up and she insists on transferring me over and over again back to the Times Square location. The beds were comfy and the location is great this is why they get 1-star.
Stayed here for 2 nights with wifey. Its conveniently located; short walk from Penn station where we arrive, short walk to metro, short walk to Times Square. Got a free upgrade from bunk beds to a queen. Size of the room felt similarly small though. Room was a little dusty. A small hole was spotted on the bed sheet. The room door ... The metallic texture captures a lot of stain marks, unpleasant to look at, really needs a wipe down. Really disappointed that the hotel cannot store our luggages for pickup later in the day; thought this is a standard service, but its Covid times.
It has been the worst vacation that I ever had in New York City because of this hotel. I booked 7 nights and today is my 6th night of staying here, and my room has never been cleaned!!!I have asked the receptionist for housekeeping after two nights, he answered me that the hotel’s new policy is to clean the rooms after 3 nights, so I waited for another night and reminded him again, he promised me that I will find my room clean when I will come back. I repeated my request three times so far to three different guys at the reception, and there was no action except apologies and promises. They have poor front desk cooperation and management. When you deliver a complaint to someone at the day or night shift, he/she postpones you to the other shift and gives you his/her word that you will be completely satisfied and it’s just a numbing strategy!!!I wish I have canceled my reservation from the first day when they gave me the room key and I founded the bed’s lining spotted with a dirty red spot( a ketchup spot or another thing, I don’t know!!!) I feel know that It was my fault that I accepted the apology when they told me that this was an unusual thing in their “clean” hotel and offered me another room. Not to mention the dust and hair( from another customer) that I founded on the mattress yesterday night when I changed the linings by myself after I returned from a long day in New York City and was surprised that my room was just as I left it in the morning!!!!I am so upset and disappointed with this hotel’s neglect of customers’ basic rights and needs.
I had a fantastic stay here in the summer of 2018. Very courteous and meticulous staff, and the location is great - just overlooking Times Square.I recall coming back to the hotel in the evening after a long day out only to discover Id lost my room key card. The gentleman at the reception was so kind to help resolve the problem and I was promptly issued a new one as soon as they verified that it was indeed my room.It was my first visit to the US and I havent been back since. But Id recommend the hotel always.
Positive: The staff was excellent in their attention to my needs. Negative: As NYC (and many other big cities) is just emerging from COVID restrictions, the amount of contact and housekeeping is limited, so expect a little less room upkeep on a multiple night stay, than usual. Not poor or negligent, just less than previously¿
Positive: Very clean and courteous staff. If there was something we needed (like.more towels) we had them within minutes of asking. Negative: The subway was only a couple blocks away, but I prefer one to be closer. However, there were plenty of restaurants within short walking distance.
Positive: It was clean, staff was nice. Negative: Ridiculously small, even for NYC. Couldnt move around bed, shower didnt work right, no where to sit, automatic light stayed on too long, next to homeless and Port Authority. Beware 2 beds are BUNK BEDS and short for adults, no fridge. 2 star hotel.
They dont clean the rooms at all. Ive been here for five nights now and they havent done it. When I arrived, the windows were dirty , finger prints and stuff like that. And hypothetically they clean for covid. If they are understaffed, they should say it. But its very dirty for covid standards and for any standard at all. Apart from that, the linens are cheap.
Positive: The hotel wouldn¿t allow me to use the govt issued copy along with a copy of my stolen license. My mother died this week and i was writing he eulogy for her memorial service the next day. I have documentation to prove that if necessary. The front was r Negative: I couldn¿t even stay there and wasn¿t offered no remedy. In my time of need , I received everything except hospitable service and human compassion. HoW don¿t file for a refund?
I stayed here for 1 night. This hotel is conveniently close to everything. The hotel itself is very clean. The staff is very efficient & extremely friendly. My room was perfect. Small which is to be expected, but clean and sound proof. I would only suggest a coffee maker inside room, but not a big deal at all. No hidden fees and a parking garage down the street. The best part is the location. I came for my birthday, again only for one night. On the day of my arrival I was able to do everything I personally came to do because of how close it was to everything. Everything is walking distance if you dont mind walking. Its so much to see youd be surprised how fast you get to certain places. The day of check out they held my bags while I explored a little more before leaving. Again overall great experience and would certainly come back in the near future. Thank you POD!
Christina (I hope I got her name right) from the concierge desk was SUPERB!! as well as the bell staff, and housekeeping. My mother was at this hotel for a week from Colombia, and had issues extending her reservation, but Christina kindly offered to help. The front desk manager is EXTREAMLY rude. Although, I understand that her department is under staff, her demeanor is been follow by her front desk employees. Small room, yes, but you cannot get a better price than the one offer here for such location. Gracias por tu gran ayuda Christina!!!
VERY VERY Bad experience!!!, the hotel just made me a extra charge by surprise about $500 USD when it was supposed that the charge should be $50 for a Security deposit but instead just made a $500 USD charge by mistake i suppose, it has been almost 3 months and the hotel decided to ignore my emails instead of solve the situation, the hotel argues every time that the security deposit will be refunded in 15 days, it has been almost 90 days, i guess they dont have any idea of my case and just ignore it, ive reported that charge with my bank twice and the hotel didnt response of attend my case any time i contact them. Please be careful with this kind of scam.
My friend booked us here right before covid started. We had the bunk bed room. It would not have been my choice. Obviously avoid if you dont like being in really small spaces. But I get the logic in it, if youre barely going to be in the room. I wouldnt book this for more than a few days... will get messy real real quick.
Stayed for three days with a friend from out of state. Pretty cool room shampoo and conditioner are in large bottles mounted on the wall instead of the usual tiny travel bottles some hotels give you. I stayed in the bunk bed room and it had plenty of outlets some of them have the usb ports in them for charging. There was also a separate tv for each bed. Floor access is now restricted to hotel guests with room cards now.
We stayed in a 2BR Pod Pad with our 2 kids. The apt and experience were great. The apt itself is well designed and equipped with all you need. The staff are nice people and made us feel at home. The location is more like Hells Kitchen rather than Times Square with a ton of access to great eats on 9th ave. Would highly recommend the Pod Pads for anyone looking for furnished long-stay apts in NYC.
So I booked a reservation about to weeks in advanced. Made sure that I could pay when I got there. Apparently they try to charge your card before you get there. So when I got there to check in they cancelled my reservation! With no call or email notifying me. I also tried calling the hotel and NO ONE ever picks up. The whole experience was not professional I was lucky to have found a nearby hotel that I was able to make a new reservation.
My booking did not go through and Pod made no effort to help me fix it. They offered me a free cancellation which is a joke since the booking wasnt even there, even though it was confirmed through them days before. Then, after basically being told I was on my own and I had to say that was unacceptable. This is a horrible agency I will never book through again. Their receptionist canceled my booking on behalf me and she said we’re refund you. lying they never did it.
I booked a room in this hotel expecting at least normal customer service. They cancelled my booking trying to charge me while I was at the plane for 10 hours flying from one continent to another. They left me without my booking when I landed at JFK at 6 pm! They havent waited until the end of the day. My booking was said pay at the property. I had to rebook with more expensive price
Hotel is new and modern, very nice and clean. The price is amazing, you can compare it with hostel for 2 persons but you get the real hotel. Both the toilet and a shower are European style, so no splashing water from toilet and normal shower instead standard American which just sticks out the wall. Air condition works perfect. Sound isolation is great, you dont hear outside noise. Staff is very helpful and polite.
I booked my queen bed room with its own bathroom online through their website at 4 PM the day I needed to stay. I didnt receive a confirmation email so 30 minutes later I called to make sure the reservation was made. They said yes they received it, and I told them I wouldnt be checking in until after a night out on the town. They said that was fine.I arrive at the hotel at 2:45 AM to check in to my room and go to sleep, and they pretend like there is a water leak that prevents my room from being available. I said that is not acceptable, and that they need to book me a hotel in the area so I can catch my train 7 hours later at penn station (very close by). They say there are no vacancies (even though I checked online and there were, from local hotels at a higher rate) and that I had to stay at their sister hotel on 51st. I said that was not acceptable and the manager pretended to call ONE hotel and told me that there were no vacancies (again, not true). Being frustrated and needing to sleep, I reluctantly agreed because my only other option was to pay 600+ on a new hotel or sleep on the street. The biggest issue is that they did not set me up in a queen bed room with its own bathroom in the sister hotel, but a full bed with a shared bathroom between all other guests in their hotel a 12 min uber ride away... so by this time its 3:30 AM.They gave me a 50% off discount and paid for my uber to the sister hotel, but would not pay for my uber back to penn station the next morning which I obviously had to pay for myself to catch my train on time. I specifically booked this hotel to be able to walk to penn station in the morning.Looking back I should have asked to see the water main break that made my room unavailable, because I am almost certain they sold my room to someone else because I checked in late even though I called and said I would be checking in late.Do not do business with this company as they do not care about you and will force you to travel across town at 3AM because they sold your room to someone else even though you told them you would be checking in late. They will just lie to you and offer you a pitiful discount to try to prevent you from writing a negative review.I am going to file a complaint with the BBB about my experience. The sister hotel I was sent to was fine, but again I paid for something that was taken away because this fraud company doesnt care about its customers.AVOID AT ALL COSTS
First time staying there, the room was fairly small yet cozy. The location is conveniently close to many things plus walking distance to Time Square. Although the receptionist was very pleasant she did not give any details on how the elevators were/are used therefore we were going up/down to the repeated floors a few times until a guest helped us, just FYI when checking in ask how the elevators are used. Other than that great experience, will visit again.
The room is small but ok, good view. The frontdesk staff did not help me with various queries I had regarding my reservation, only one person put a good disposition and helped me, the rest of the very unfriendly staff, to manage the reservation they told me `` call Booking fix it with Booking and what I was asking was to change from 12 nights to 11. It was not something very complicated and the staff focused on making that difficult to do. Very bad that.
Well what can I say, I love a good day stay and the Pod Hotel has what I want! Minimalism at its finest, the Pod Hotel features 3 type of room settings, twin bunk, standard full size and queen size. Conveniently located right next to Time Square the Lincoln Tunnel Port Authority bus terminal and subway station, getting here or there is within a breeze!PH boast a florescent red light over black backdrop sign out front. As you enter two elevators with a single button to access the lobby waiting for you. Just press the button, enter and wait a few seconds, as there are no directional buttons in the entrance elevators. Once you get to the lobby you have access to car rental or pick up services, check in station, a bar and a Polynesian styled restaurant. The rooms feature the bed options of your choosing plus a small fold out coat rack and a hanging closet, a small desk and chair, a glass encased bathroom with sliding glass barn door, and lighting throughout the entire space. The rooms are all non smoking however there is a designated smoking area downstairs.Had to come back for more and they didnt have my day stay ready on time! NOT ONE WORRY IN SITE! The front desk not only gave me a larger room but an extended check out time on a higher floor! I definitely appreciate awesome customer service and assistance! You guys are amazing!
STANDARD BUNK BED ROOM!!! The room is a little smaller than what it looked like in pictures. but fits its description of 2 adults. I wish I was a better photographer the beds look better than they look, they were clean and the bathroom is great! Out of all the places I could possibly book. This one gave me NO anxiety at all. BOOK this place. The hotel is next to Time square and the sight seeing bus tours all the Asian and Italian restaurants are near by. You CAN walk EVERYWHERE. THE Location is great. Read the papers that they leave there in the room on the desks it saves time for clients and room service/housekeeping. Staff is great. They’re so kind and good goofy. Warning though: the hotel is geared toward the youth but the older people will have a great time too.
We arrived early and Tim at the front desk was EXCEPTIONAL! There was a room available and a high floor with a view, which was perfect for our Anniversary. He also made recommendations and made us feel extra special upon our arrival. The room was exactly what we anticipated- enough space for 2 people who didnt spend too much time in their room! The location is close to the Port Authority and everything you need. We did have someone try to enter our room while we were in it. They sent security up immediately and we think it was just an error on the guests part. The room was not sound proof like other reviewers suggested but we were able to sleep through the night but of course we heard sirens periodically and my only other critique was the razor thin pillows.
We had booked a stay here for April this year (prior to the corona-breakout) but due to the US’ travel restrictions were not able to take the trip. Via booking.com we cancelled our room for free and were promised a quick refund. Despite several inquiries at booking.com and the accommodation via different channels (hotline, mail), we have neither gotten the money back nor any definitive information regarding the outstanding refund. We understand that the current situation is difficult for the hotel industry but promising and not providing a refund after more than 7 months is as unacceptable as the way of communication at this property.I strongly advise against booking a stay at this accommodation. It might just result in a legal dispute.
I stayed two weeks ago after booking on Last Minute Travel. For some reason, the Pod Hotel charged me again, and its impossible to reach them to make a dispute. I was there for work so we checked in at the right time, and checked out early to catch our AM flight - we never used the bar or anything. Small hotel, never replaced our sheets or towels, and got charged for no reason...and unable to reach anyone on their team. Terrible.
It’s a little hard to call sometimes cuz the phone doesn’t ring at least for me it went straight to voice mail a few times, but the employees are very kind and very flexible with check in and check out with no extra added fees, the rooms are well pods lol they are small but they are comfortable, surprisingly huge bathroom 😂 it’s got a bunch of knobs on the shower but in a few seconds you can figure it out. The area outside is a lil crowded at night specially on weekends if you’re thinking of walking around.
I absolutely LOVED this hotel! I come to the city a lot and after my first stay here I plan to book it every time. I am now looking into their extended stay option! The place was perfect, just what I needed. The staff was great and on the last day as I was running late to catch a ride to the hotel after a morning of shopping the attendant was kind enough to bring my bags down to me so I could run to catch my ride! Above and beyond my expectations!
Had a very good stay! Room was a good size for just the two of us. I really liked the bunk beds along with the bathroom. Room is very clean. Good views for a good price where everything is! Very friendly workers & Defenitly going to stay here again my next time Im 3 around! 😁
Highly recommend this hotel! We stayed for 6 nights and everything was perfect. We got the double room for me and my husband. The room came with a bed, a safe, a bathroom, a tv, and a table with a chair. It’s not a large room but it was completely enough for us. The room and the hotel were really clean, with a room service daily. The location is perfect, just about 9 min walking from times square, lots of restaurants nearby, also a small market and subway station. Couldn’t be more happy with this hotel.
A great hotel with spacious rooms, a good lobby, friendly staff and a good location for tourists. There is quite a bit of security - you take a lift to the lobby from the ground where you have to walk past the staff, up the lift which requires a key card to use, and then enter your room. When we first arrived there, the key card didnt work with the elevator. This must be a common occurrence because we have been in lifts with several other people who have had this issue. A nice hotel overall if you have the money for it.
My first time at a Pod hotel. I came into it expecting the room to be tiny, and it is, but it was a bit more roomy than I was expecting. Absolutely perfect for one person, especially considering it was a business trip and I was only at the hotel to sleep. Everything was very efficient. Check-in was great, and I was thrilled with how great the elevators are. Not always the case in NYC. Also, I could not hear any noise from other rooms or hallway. I dont think I ever waited more than 15 seconds for an elevator. Perfect location for Javits Center and convenient to everything, really.
The rooms are very small but practical. For 1 person this is great and for a couple this is pretty good but it will be noticable. If you have 2 big suitcases it will be hard to open them both inside the room. Apart from the room size - young atmosphere, very good location (near a central subway and bus station) and the staff helped us whenever we needed something. The price is good and if you can live with a very small room you wont be disappointed.
Good location for first timers to reach uptown and downtown easily! but it really would not be our next visit option!dirty streets and so crowded! lots of homeless people around time square! you can smell pee everywhere in time square!hotel itself was clean in total! friendly staffs! great deal on parking in this area 20$ per night! good price for simple accommodation totally!TV remote was greasy! windows were not sound proof as advertised! i could smell smoke in the first room they gave us so we switched, second one was OK! really tiny room! stay away if you have claustrophobia! not that much comfy bed! no fridge in the room! no duvet on bed just a blanket! not enough towel in the bathroom!
Great hotel, in a prime location! We ended up getting here a bit earlier than check-in from the airport and decided to see if we could get in earlier or just drop out stuff off. The front desk was incredibly nice and very quick, and they let us into our room early. The room was very nice, and even though it was definitely small, it didnt feel cramped for 2 of us (it was a queen room). The furniture and amenities were clean, nice and comfortable. Cool views of the city. Definitely would recommend staying here!
The hotel is great and comfortable for the size. I read comments before my stay and many said to check for extra charges. I did and at first there were none but the next day they charged me twice for the resort fee. I have called several times and spoken to a manager who keeps telling me they are refunding it. I stayed the last weekend of August its almost October. If you stay its wonderful just look out for extra charges.
The hotel is in a very centric location and surrounded by a great variety of shops within a walking distance. It is definitely a great place to stay to explore the city and rest in a practical and comfortable room in the heart of New York City. The room and the facilities were clean and look fresh and new. Although the room is on the small size, it was incredibly functional and comfortable and had everything one could need (i.e. a desk, functional storage space, TV with cable, toiletries, etc.).Some of the highlights of the room where I stayed were the incredible views to the city, the soundproof quality from other rooms and the hallway, and the cleanliness of the room. I have stayed in similar hotels before and the main issue is quite often too bad odors coming from the bathroom or unbearable noise levels from the hallway and other rooms, thus making having a good night sleep almost impossible. Yet this was not the case at the Pod Times Square!
I stayed there earlier this month. This hotel is very minimalist. The rooms have bunk beds (which were pretty comfortable). There isnt any room service. You have to take an elevator to the lobby. And then a different elevator to access the rooms - so getting in and out is a bit of a chore. The folks at the reception were friendly. There is a bar/restaurant in the lobby which seemed very busy and popular. I didnt get a chance to try it out. The location is great with transport options within walking distance.
Stood for one night decent view, shower head didn’t work only the second hose worked, try to double charge me for $141 when I was charge $191 for one night, management said to call my bank for my second payment back. Took both payments and now won’t give me my money back would not recommend.
A good option near Times Square in NY. The staff was very friendly and efficient. We arrived at about 10am and they checked us in to an available room 5 hours prior to official check in with no problems. That was really great and we appreciated it. The room was small, which is expected from a hotel named Pods. There could be an issue with lack of privacy as the room is so small so the bathroom is very close to everything else and the bathroom door doesnt lock and the walls of the bathroom and shower are opaque so you can see through them to an extent. The lobby was nice and the location was good. Its good if you can get it for a good deal.
My stay was so amazing, literally could not ask for anything better. The staff was so friendly and sweet and I could not ask for a better location in the hotel. My boyfriend and I loved that it was only a 4 minute walk away from the port terminal. We stayed here for 4 nights and 5 days and slept so comfortably. If you are going to be in New York, I definitely recommend staying here!
The hotel is pretty cool, I got a bunk bed room only for myself, because that was the only option available when I booked it. Everything was clean, the staff was lovely and helpful. They also had free walking tours, a different area for each day, which you could easily sign up for.
Like many others we had booked a stay in April 2020, which got cancelled by the hotel because of the COVID19 situation. We got promised a refund by June 2020 and to this day (June 2021) have not received one cent. All e-mails are being ignored, even though the hotel is back open now and accepts new reservations.Hate to say it, but this is a straight up scam.
This place is super clean! Great location! The bed was a great size (my husband and I are bigger), pillows were comfy. Shampoo and shower gel is mounted in the shower. Our luggage did not fit under the bed where its designated so we improvised and put it on top of the little hanging station. There is really no place to unpack, if youre like me, and you like to do that... But it was expected, so we just unpacked a couple days at a time. The bathroom is in the room and its separated by glass walls, so some people might have a hard time using it with someone else in the room. Front desk folks were nice and helpful.
Nice little Pod rooms. Went with my teenage son for a weekend getaway. Went with a bunk bed style room. First time, room was clean, smelled nice. Same for hotel. Friendly staff. Definitely would stay again and recommend. Only thing they could add is coffee in the lobby. Hate having to leave the hotel in the rain to get coffee
Stayed here for six days - the location is pretty good, especially if you ever need to use the subway or want to grab food. It was pretty quiet, and the view was a bonus. Id definitely stay here again, two thing that should be added is a water machine or even mini fridges in the rooms. Everything was perfect!
I was able to book a last-min 3-night stay with a check-in time of around midnight. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. The rooms were really good, especially for the price! I dont mind small spaces.I stayed in a twin room and everything was very clean and neat and we had our own bathroom with lots of towels and soap. Great mattress and each bed area has its own small mini-nightstand attached to the wall with a reading light and plenty of plugs and USB ports for charging electronic devices. The Pod Times Square Hotel is also about a 10 min walk to Times Square and also really close to subway lines and food places. I would definitely stay here again.
Not only was The Pod Times Square in such a perfect spot, but the hotel itself is very nice. It has a great vibe and look. The people at the front desk and other workers were very friendly and welcoming! Of course the rooms are small, but they are clean and have a great view outside! Everything was comfortable and nice. I would highly recommend! Bar is nice too!

2022-06-29I ended up getting in really late, much later than I expected for my stay. The front desk was so nice and pleasant, even tho it was super late. Turned out I had accidentally booked my stay 1 day in advance the whole trip. They were able to fix it super quick and had me in my room in under 10 minutes. Check out was a quick breeze and i loved my room. It was the perfect amount for one person and honestly felt spacious for just me. Im recommending this place to all my friends, especially for solo female traveling alone.

2022-05-10Pods Time Square may not be a 5-star hotel, but it sure has excellent service. My entire stay was comfortable. Check-in was a smooth process, the room was clean, the bed and pillows were comfortable, the heating and AC worked, shower area was just right, and the water was warm! Even the checkout was easy. If you want comfortable accommodation, I recommend this hotel.

2022-03-28Loved the location of the hotel, check in was easy! Staff was also friendly. There was a restaurant and there were walking tours offered but sadly we could not partake, but next time we will. The room was comfortable, air conditioning and heat worked. Bed and pillows were comfortable, shower was large and water was hot! It was perfect for our stay (only one night) but when we come back to NYC, we will definitely be staying again.

2022-04-18Stayed here a couple times now. Its perfect for having a packed day and needed a place to just crash for the night. The rooms are clean and the security for the building is good. Covid restrictions are still in place which thankfully meant our floor was very peaceful and quiet. We parked right across the street which was convenient and had no trouble checking in or out.

2021-11-18We stayed at Pod Times Square for 6 nights and it was excellent! The staff are very friendly and accommodating. They let us check in early when we arrived and check out was super quick. The room was small (which is quite normal for NYC) but it had everything you need and was very clean. The windows were built well and decently soundproofed as we were not disturbed from the noise of the city at night. It felt very safe as there are is two sets of elevators and you need a room key to access the elevator to the floor with rooms. They also offer you a complimentary drink at the rooftop bar in the hotel. Overall a wonderful stay and will choose again if I return to NYC.

2022-06-20Loved it here. Small rooms as expected but not claustrophobic at all. Very clean and well maintained. Comfortable spaces from bedroom to bathroom to lobby. Kind staff. Ponchos at the front desk in case of rain. Serafina restaurant on property with a nice deck overlooking the city. Concierge can hold your luggage for you if you need to drop off your luggage early or have it held after checkout. Situated close to the Javitz Center and Times Square and not far from Penn Station also.

2022-01-10Finally, an affordable place to stay in NYC. Perfect for the minimalist. I got a nice bed, clean toilet, shower and tv! If your tastes are more upscale, go pay 4 - 5 times the amount somewhere else. Did I mention that this is in an amazing location? The staff that checked me in and out, were amazing. Ill be back.

2022-03-13If youre on a budget and looking for something simple, The Pod is perfect. The beds are comfortable in both the bunk and full sized rooms, and the bathrooms are nice and stocked with nice toiletries! The floor-to-ceiling window is a huge bonus as well. I love the location and have not had any issues in either of my stays at The Pod.

2022-02-18I have so many good things to say about this hotel, I dont know where to start. For having bad experiences in the past with NY Hotels, I was a little traumatized and didnt know what to expect. I was pleasantly surprised by everything. The staff :Pod Times Squares staff was very helpful all along. The check-in process took 5 minutes tops. They got a package delivery for me, got me extra toilet paper, kept my luggage after check-out and before my flight. It might seem basic, but these details are important when travelling, especially in a city that can be a little mean like NYC (if youve been here a few times you know what I mean). Thanks again for being so nice !The room :The room looked exactly like it did on the pictures on the website. It was very clean, everything looked new. It comes with free fast Wifi and Cable TV (HBO, MTV, E!, TLC etc). I didnt get my room cleaned for my stay, but it was my choice and they inform you that there wont be cleaning done unless you ask for it. It is a good thing to me, because I dont like knowing someone can come into my room when Im not there, with all of my belongings there. Plus, who in their daily life changes towels everyday? No one.The only downside was how thin the blanket was BUT you can turn the heat on (or AC) in the room. Sometimes I even turned the heat on too much because I woke up sweating when it was snowing outside.I especially loved the bathroom and the shower, it was very cute (and clean).Location/Price :Honestly you CANT get better. I am a solo traveller and the location is amazing, youre right on Times Square and have pretty much all subway lines next to it. From/To the airport, after the AirTrain, you can get on the A directly. You can get Joes Pizza, Shake Shack, Taco bell and even more, in a 2 blocks radius. Youre in the middle of it all and it was very practical. When I told about the location and price of my hotel to my friends, they were all surprised I got such a great bargain but hey, it is whats fantastic about Pod Times Square.I highly recommend this hotel, and will for sure come back on my next stay, no hesitation !
