PODS Moving & Storage in other cities:
Move almost turned into a disaster since PODS has restrictions on where they operate and offer services but was able to make it work out in the end. Finally got my pod and when I opened it up it was infested with spiders. It took me a while to try and brush out the spiders, but could only do so much. Finally loaded my stuff and everything was going ok. My delivery got delayed because of an unexpected problem that is not quite any fault of PODS, but when I tried to get some type of compensation/reimbursement for the delay in my POD I got no response after my initial inquiry. Its been weeks now. Glad this move is almost closed out (whenever I get my reimbursement), dont plan on doing another POD move.
I was very happy with the PODS experience with the exception of the size of the containers. A 16 pod is the equivalent of a 16 truck not a 20 truck as stated on the web site. Go bigger than you think, and make sure you tie down the shipment (tie down brackets are in the containers but you must provide your own straps or rope) and youll have a great experience. For the price, this is the best way to do an interstate move for sure.
Better have your dates and times figured out well in advance because theres no opportunity for last minute changes with PODS.We were moving into our home June 29th so we scheduled for our POD to be dropped off that day. The night before I was emailed that the delivery window was 7-10am. Our closing was scheduled for 10am so I tried to call someone at PODS to change the time but could not get through. The next morning the delivery driver called at 7:30am to say he could not drop the POD off as there was another container already in the driveway (it was the sellers). After calling our realtor to get the okay to put the POD in the yard, I called the driver back, no answer; texted him, no response; left a voicemail, no call back. I then called PODS multiple times that day and repeatedly was told to call back as they was upgrading their systems. At 8:30pm I was finally able to get a hold of someone at PODS who told me the first available drop off was now a week out. So we literally ended up sleeping on the floor with blankets for a week until PODS dropped off our stuff.
They decided to decline my pod I booked months ago less than 24 hours before talking about the space based on google maps that they could have looked up at any time. They lack communication or working to find a solution at all. Surely took my payment despite knowing they were likely unable to provide a service! I am so hurt I dont know wjat to do now in such a short amount of time!!
Many of my items were damaged, most of which admittedly were my own fault, however many of my items had burn marks and burn holes on them. Depending upon the material of the item in question. The driver that dropped off my POD at my destination was very rude at first and when I began to lose my temper settled down. PODs charged my account after picking up the POD and guaranteed a full refund, theyve yet to live up to their word and I sincerely doubt they will. 0/10 would not recommend.
We scheduled a Pod for moving out of my house and into a new apartment. At the time of the rental the people at Pods told us that the Pod could be picked up at any time when I was ready to move. We set up a month-month payment plan. It was est. for drop-off on September 16th. We called to have the Pod picked up October 15th to move to the new place and they told us that they had no drivers available that day, and that they could only pick up and drop off on Fridays... The scheduled the pick-up for October 22nd instead, and further stated that it would have to picked up from the apartment October 29th... That was contradictory to what we were told prior to signing up. The Pod was originally dropped off on a Thursday (09/16) so either they are liars or they or stupid but either way we were mislead. Plus, because we are being charged month to month, we are now going to be billed for a second month... not to mention, the inconvenience they have caused us by not being able to move all of the stuff that is currently just sitting in the pod..... I would never recommend anyone use this company.
The POD move worked for us. The folks who delivered and picked up the units on both ends were professional and courteous. My POD looked beat when they delivered it to me but it survived a heavy rain and didnt leak. Unfortunately, somewhere during transit something fell on the roof, cracking it and letting in a fair amount of water damaging some of our goods.
Initial delivery was great. However, upon arrival in Syracuse, delivery was cancelled on the scheduled day twice without clear instructions regarding placement location. I ended up retrieving my belongings from PODS myself. On my pick up day, the POD was not out of the warehouse even though I confirmed the pickup that morning. When I complained to customer service they elevated the situation to the manager who lied and said the POD had been placed outside. Its bad enough that the entire final delivery process was disorganized and unprofessional, but to lie about a customer experience? I will not recommend PODS or use your service in the future.
PODS showed up and didnt have their truck properly equipped to complete the removal of our container. They are trying to blame us by saying we didnt have the snow and ice cleared (we spent hours before they arrived doing this) when in reality their driver admitted that he didnt have the chain he needed to remove the POD or if he had had a different truck there wouldnt have been an issue. Now they want us to wait another week before they come back. We move tomorrow out of state and cant leave the POD here another week.
WOULD NOT RECOMMEND!!! I have recently moved with my wife and 9 month old baby and we used PODS. We were supposed to receive our POD on 9/15. We even received the message the evening before (9/14) that our POD would be delivered between 10:30am-1:30pm. Around 12p that day, I received a call that my POD was delayed...to the FOLLOWING WEEK! Everything we possess is in this POD and we are now in our empty house with nothing. When I asked where my POD was, they replied that it was just “in route”, not at the warehouse it should be, and they had no way to track the actual geographic location (seems unbelievable in this day of age). My POD was supposed to be shipped on 9/5 and arrive at the local warehouse within 5-7 days (well before 9/15). That day, the employee that called me said he would contact the warehouse for accommodations to get the POD delivered sooner and get back to me right away. I have not heard from this employee since this phone call. The customer resolution team was also supposed to call me that day for compensation “as needed” for the delay and I have yet to hear from them too. I called again later that day and reached a new employee. This employee, Cindy, could not help much more but she at least she kept me on hold as she called the warehouse and submitted this to her supervisor Maria who was supposed to contact me again. Additionally my contract was changed without my verbal or electronic agreement because “it would not arrive that day, so it had to be changed”. No...this means PODS BROKE its part of the contract not that it needs to be “updated”! A contract is between 2 parties, not the business doing what is best for their behalf.Sept 16: Cindy said she would call first thing in the morning for updates, which she did (only employee I am grateful for) but nothing new and she pinged Maria again to contact me. I have since called multiple times to reach Maria with multiple employees pinging and emailing her and she has not responded to me now 3 days later. That evening still no word from the warehouse or updates. Only that a scheduling dispute was submitted (I don’t know what dispute there is...the POD didn’t show up when it was promised). No word from Corrine, the agent assigned as my advocate (not a great advocate we will see).Sept 17: called first thing in the morning. Ariel/Uriel answered and said he couldn’t help. Tried calling the warehouse with no response and left a voicemail to respond to them immediately. Refused my request to be transferred to a supervisor, said it needs to be scheduled. Called again and happened by chance to get Ariel/Uriel again and he called the warehouse again. No response. Called a third time, got an Adam who transferred me to Corrine’s (my supposed advocate) voicemail. In her voicemail she said she would respond 24-48 HOURS LATER!!! That seems totally unacceptable to me. Regardless she was supposed to have contacted me 48-72 business hours later from 9/15 (still no word or reach out from her). Contacted them again that evening for an update. Still nothing. A “resolution” was suggested that I HIRE ANOTHER moving company to pull my stuff from my POD in the warehouse and move it to my house as other customers have done this before. Really??? Also this employee (can’t remember name) left an email message to Maria to contact me ASAP. Nothing still from this supposed supervisor.Sept 18: Called in the evening and talked to Sarah. FINALLY an update. Local warehouse won’t make accommodations and so the POD won’t come until 9/22. The person who made that edit was supposed to contact me by phone and email, which never happened (unsurprising at this point). The scheduling dispute was closed without any of my knowledge. Sarah tried to transfer me to the advocacy team (something that until this point was forbidden to me) since Corrine didn’t respond. Nothing and Sarah left yet ANOTHER message stating for somebody to contact me ASAP.This is just RIDICULOUS! It has cost my family lots of $$$ and stress to live with nothing especially during the COVID pandemic!
I am 24 hours into this experience and extremely displeased. The driver didn’t seem very experienced because he called to say he may not be able to get the pod to the back of my driveway which is what I requested. I’m reasonable but the driver barely cleared the side walk, dropped it at the very top of my driveway and drove off. In the process he did some kind of damage to my neighbors yard because I saw him with a shovel correcting something? He had plenty of space on either side of the pod and above the pod, not sure why he felt dropping it at the top of the driveway would be okay? I can’t even get my truck in my driveway let alone my daughter’s car. I have chatted with pod and called twice. I am yet to have someone reposition the pod or hear back from anyone. I have called 2x and did a chat session.
Completely unprofessional. I called due to an abandoned pod left in the front of a residential community. In the middle of the parking lot no less. I understand the resident is trashy (obviously) but its even more trashy that the driver didnt pick a better location to drop off the pod. Apsrrently they allow customers to schedule drop off and pick up based on their budget. So the pod can be abandoned and sitting for an entire month until the customer has it removed. How about you dictate no more than one week from drop off. If you cant afford it then find another way to move your stuff. This is not a trailer park. This business is so trashy and unprofessional. Smh.
I wasnt a fan of their practices. I was getting quotes for my move and looking for information. You cannot get any information about cost or rates from the website. You have to call. When I called the price quote they gave me was ridiculously high. Like $1500 more than relo cube for the same service and same amount of space and less insurance coverage. I told the guy Im just getting quotes and would think about it. He then proceeded to try to pressure me and said that the quote was only good for that phone conversation so I better confirm and set up the contract them. Um ok. Literally every other place gives you a quote and that quote is good for at least some period if time.
We worked with PODS in GA and arranged for transport of our things to NY. When they asked my location, I informed them that we werent for sure where we would be buying a house but it would be near Watertown. After moving to a neighboring town, (19 miles to exact) they informed me that they did not deliver to my town. No one mentioned this when I originally booked the moved. I applied for a travel extension and it was denied. They told me to have the Army come get it since we are a military family. This was during COVID and the army wasnt moving anyone, hence hiring PODS. I was so excited at the beginning to have such great service and nice people to deal with. I was beyond disappointed to find out it wasnt as promised. Be sure to check all surrounding areas if you are not for sure of your finally destination. They will go NO FARTHER than they have to.
Id give no stars if i could. Horrible experience with PODS customer service. We had our POD dropped off to load in anticipation of a closing date of our house. After filling the POD, finding out our closing date and calling POD back to schedule pick up and drop off, we were given a time that was A WEEK AND A HALF later than we needed. Essentially we should have scheduled our POD BEFORE we dropped it off...how is that possible? We have put in a request to be on the cancellation list, but no one can give us answers and we are now in jeopardy of needing to reschedule our home closing.
I would give zero stars if I could. I arrived to self-load my POD after 10am as I was told by the company, and the POD was not there. After waiting for two hours, a forklift operator showed up and let down a POD for me. He was shocked that the manager, Chad, had not taken care of it. The extra two hours led to a $190 additional charge from my movers. I called Chad to ask for reimbursement, and he called me a liar and refused to pay it back. I am still waiting for resolution from the corporate branch of the company over a month later. This company is a mess, and as you can see from the many other reviews, Chad the manager is incompetent. Do yourself a favor and get literally any other company.
So we made a HUGE 23 hour move from Louisiana to Watertown, NY. Our POD was supposed to be delivered here on May 2nd, I start work on May 1st. I was told today the soonest it could be delivered was May 14th. They did not get our delivery date correct. I spoke with a Lori on the phone and she is supposed to see what they can do. We are stuck in a hotel with absolutely nothing but what we could fit in our vehicles. I really hope they get this straight and do the right thing for the customer. This is too expensive to not get right.
We had a gap between our lease and closing on our new house, so loading a Pod and putting it into storage for a few weeks was just what we needed. Its also nicer loading and unloading a Pod because it sits right on the ground, and unlike a truck you dont have to be in a rush to get everything loaded or unloaded. The deliveries and pick ups on both ends were easy to schedule, prompt, and the drivers were awesome. There were a lot of obstacles to being able to place the Pod at our apartment and the drivers had no problem dropping it off or picking it up.
If I could give zero stars i would. Besides being way late, they couldnt even tell me where my POD was. I was hung up on by customer service after being told supervisors and managers wont talk to customers. Once it finally god here; the very well packed POD had been moved around so much the door wouldnt open. Most of my things are broken like the pod was dropped on its side. The outside of the pod is even dented yet they tell me that isnt their problem. Save yourself the hassle and money and go somewhere else!
Very POOR experiance. I ordered a single POD and it was delivered. I decided I required another POD and called to inquire what the price would be. I was told it would be double the POD price but was not informed the shipping fee of over $1300.00 would also be doubled. I recieved no confirming e=mail similar to the one I got after ordering the original POD. Also, PODS recommended a loader who took all three hours I had them to load only one POD which I had preloaded half already with plastic storage totes. They asked for a tape measure and actually measured gaps where things could be placed to maximize the space. At first this may seem smart BUT NOT EVERY article. Thats not all, they were three hours late.
On June 30th, I contracted Pods to deliver 2 storage/moving pods to my home in Ithaca NY, the saleswoman said that delivery in my area was available on Fridays and Tuesdays, so we arranged to have the units delivered on Friday July 24th and picked up on Tuesday July 28th. My husband and I are selling our home in Ithaca to move to Boston but are already working in Boston, so after booking the Pods we asked for time off from work to make the move on the dates that the Pods were available for pickup/dropoff. We also arranged the closing of the sale of our house to be the day after the pickup of the Pods.I received a call on July 13th, less than 2 weeks before the delivery of the pods, to inform me that the sales agent had made a mistake and that delivery/pickup in our area was only available on Tuesdays, and that the earliest delivery date would be July 28th with the next available pickup being August 4th.The customer service agent who called to inform me of the change was unable to arrange for any earlier delivery dates despite the error having been caused by Pods and not caused by me. I was informed that the Pods were available in Syracuse NY (1.5 hours away from Ithaca) but that they could not arrange for a truck to deliver them to me as promised. While I was on the phone with him, the customer service representative repeatedly called the Syracuse location to ask the supervisor for solutions, but the supervisor simply said that the delivery schedule had already filled up and that Ithaca was too far from Syracuse for them to make any exceptions to their schedule. This change to the promised delivery dates so close to our move date imperiled the sale of our house, (because we cannot close if our personal items have not been removed by July 29th) and caused us monetary harm, because other moving companies have increased their prices due to the last minute nature of all alternative solutions we found to remedy the situation. We were made a false promise by the saleswoman, causing us to incur additional expenses through no fault of our own, and were put in a difficult situation due to the last minute nature of their cancellation. If Pods is not capable of fulfilling their promises they should take pains to make customers aware of this, warning that a window of several weeks may be necessary for delivery, and cautioning those who are moving long distances to look for another method of transportation if their work and/or home sales depend on vacating the premises by a specified date.
Horrible, all you will get is lies. First they tell me for what I need is 8 by 12. They deliver it and I realize its to small. I call and they tell me its the biggest one they have. So I keep it. Then one way bigger than mine but they insist there is no bigger one. I still kept and paid the monthly on time. The deal fell through for our house and I call them to pick up. Its a week before next billing cycle and they tell me they cant get here until 5 days after so I will have to pay another full month! I tell them thats not my fault that you cant get here. They are based right here out of Syracuse and they cant get here. Right around the corner from me. On top of that the rep then lies and said well we could have gotten there earlier if the office was still open there but they are closed. Its 8 oclock at night. I look at their website and they are open until 10. Dont go to them. My realtor told me of another guy who used them they over charged and lost his pod. They told him it wasnt their problem and get it when they could find it. Nothing but nasty mean representives on the phone for customer care.
They will not help me move my pod from the facility to 8 miles from the address where the pod previously was... Approximately 10 minutes from The Fort Drum Army Post where they picked it up.. I will have to buy a truck and come grab it all yourself alone.. with an 8 year old all while my husband is overseas!!! Thanks pods. So so much. Really. Im looking forward to paying even extra to have my stuff moved to me plus the fact that I will now be arriving up there to nothing. Thankyou.
Absolutely nothing but a horrible experience with Pods. I schedule to get access to my pod had to walk all over the parking lot just to find my pod as no one was in the office. Called customer service three times and received basically no help. They were unable to reach anyone at the site, to help assist me. This is my second terrible experience with them. I would not recommend you use them.
I called customer service as directed per my quote online and the gentleman I talked to was INCREDIBLY RUDE. He asked for me email, so I gave it and then I said I also have a quote number if you need it and he said in such a rude and depreciating voice no. your quote number wont work because it starts with a P. thats why I asked for your email. --- then when I told him I wanted a QUOTE for a big move im making in 2021, he judged me for looking so soon. Like excuse you? First of all, I dont work there. How am I supposed to know what the hell a p means in a quote number. Secondly, your job is to quote me. So do that and do it without the attitude. I was very nice to him and he hung up on me. Great customer service pods. Not using your company for my move, period.
Their patient they go with the flow and I just love pots they are so much better to have instead of U-Haul or other things because theyre really good at falling through getting you help when you need help and I just love the pot and I cant wait until it shows up on the 1st of April
They picked up the pod and the driver was amazing. March 2022They do not deliver to every address. Nightmare !!!!! I can’t get my pod to my house. Have to driver 74 miles. No loving rental truck company has it for the weekend I need. Can’t get a live person at the location where the pod is. Awful!!!!
I just got mine delivered on time. The delivery drivers were really friendly, quick, and poor guys had to deal with down pour while doing it. Ill come back and update my review when they pick it up and move it to my new house (which I already scheduled online for August 31). The 16ft is definitely Italy smaller than I expected. It will NEVER hold a 4 bedroom PARTIALLY furnished home. So beware of that. Cost comparing though to a uhaul its cheaper so theres that. Heres to finishing this review on the end of this!

2022-07-09Absolutely do not utilize PODS. STAY AWAY SAVE YOUR MONEY. When I initially called to get information before I purchased their service I was told that they needed 5 to 7 days notice to pick up the pod, and their website currently states 7 business days. When I actually went to schedule the POD the earliest they could come and get it was over 3 weeks away. Of course thats not going to work when we are closing on a house. Also, even though I gave them explicit and detailed instructions where to place the POD in my driveway they placed it on the exact opposite end of where I had requested. To top everything off they damaged my driveway pretty significantly. Their driver obviously went off the side of the raised blacktop and caved a portion in. Theres also significant dents and other damage done to the surface. I called to get some type of help with these issues however the call center is clearly outsourced and I was repeatedly disconnected. Absolutely horrible experience and I would never recommend using PODS to anybody.

2022-05-11We am incredibly disappointed with our PODS experience. Their website is plastered with claims about flexible scheduling however, despite calling nearly a month in advance, we were told that the earliest available re-delivery date was more than 2 months away. This is apparently because they only deliver to Ithaca on Tuesdays, something that was not previously communicated to us. On top of that, we were told that we would still have to pay for this time even though we wanted our belongings delivered sooner and the delay is entirely PODS fault. So much for the claim on the website that there are no hidden costs!update:PODS gave us a reimbursement for the extra rental fee. But they should seriously warn people moving to more rural areas that delivery can be limited to only once per week.

2022-05-01I ordered pods for my move, they told me I could pack a four bedroom house after I got the pods told me oh it’s only for four bedrooms. After that they picked up the pot didn’t even use it because it was too small it was returned, they took $250 from me then they turned around and took $84 from me then $64 from me, then he went back into my account and stole $54 again today is Sunday, May 1 and they stole $192 We rented A U-Haul Which is due back on today my account is minus -$65 I have no money to pay for my U-Haul truck I am on Fixed income and I don’t know what to do today Sunday and I’m in dire straits because Pat keeps taking money out of my account right now it’s over $600 I only get double of that amount I had to say for that I need help there not even open I have no one to help me they Omie money since 18 April they haven’t returned that yet either don’t work from this company they are not a company of the word to just steal from someone they must not be the company that they want this country to believe they are saddened by USA businesses that don’t have your back I’ll never went from this company again and I’ll never recommend this company Pods to anyone🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬

2022-08-02PODS charged for extra storage time when the delay was due to PODS issues, not ours. PODS salesperson was dismissive of our questions about delivery logistics during the initial sale, then pointed finger at us when those questions became real issues during final delivery planning. After we lodged a complaint about these issues, PODS promised a follow up call and a to work towards a resolution. To-date, we haven’t received either.

2022-07-27PODS is a terrible company to have to deal with. They dont deliver on time and they steal money from you to try to cover their mistakes. And when you call their customer service to file a complaint they give you every excuse as to why their mistakes are your fault. I wish we would have know how terrible they are before we used them.

2022-08-12Drivers incorrectly placed POD twice. Second time when I called to get it repositioned, they tried to charge me for it.$75!!! Customer service phone operators are useless and kept me on hold for 15-30 minutes at a time. Would not answer questions, one actually lied to me about the invoice I was looking at. Wasnt allowed to speak with manager/supervisor.Never use!!!

2021-07-06Note: this is the 1st review I have ever written for any company for any reason, so consider that before reading! Not at all a good experience, I would exhaust all other options before using PODS for your move. I ordered a single POD to move from one city to another 2 hours away. When I spoke to the customer service agent that took my order initially, she was told that my number one deciding criteria was flexibility in delivery date. She said this was no problem. However, when I called to move up my delivery date by approximately 1 week, I was told that they could not accommodate the change. After paying over $1,200 to move 2 hours down the road, which is highway robbery considering a machine does all the work, I was told that if I wanted my belongings that I could rent a U-Haul truck and pickup at the storage facility 5 mins away from my new house. After having 4 very upsetting conversations with 4 different PODS customer service agents, I was told flat out that delivering my unit any sooner was impossible, the calendar was full!! Once again, a customer service company that offers no customer service. Not a single person took a human approach to my situation, they quoted what was on their computer screens and refused to provide me with time to discuss this with a supervisor. All I was looking for was a human being to make a decision based on empathy and understanding, and I received none of that. A company certainly not worth doing business with.

2021-12-28If you are considering using PODS for moving needs do yourself a favor and verify that they will in fact deliver to your new destination. If you do not know where you are going to ultimately land, I would reconsider using PODS. I was misled from the start about how the delivery actually worked. I paid multiple months of over priced storage to then be forced to make different arrangements to get my items to my new home. The representatives I spoke with about this massive inconvenience were neither helpful or kind, and I was offered nothing to compensate for this problem. Terrible customer service! If I could give zero stars I would, but then this review wouldnt post. I would not recommend using PODS service for anyone.

2021-12-27Nce we arrived at our new location, the POD was already several days overdue. We were told one morning that it was at the depot and would be delivered that day and we needed to wait for it because they were squeezing it in. We waited for most of the day outside the location in our car which was very difficult because we had no alternative. We called in the middle of the day and were told that it would likely still be delivered. When we called back, were then told that the pod wasnt really at the depot and that they had no idea where it was and when it would arrive. Days later, after receiving no updates and giving up our possessions as lost, we received an update that it would arrive for real. PODS is a disorganized mess, but the PODS drivers are heroes. Too many of the PODS support people are rude and unmotivated and there is no recourse for customers when they are treated badly on the phone. Several times were were outright lied to in order to get us off the phone, one even gave us another number to call to find our pod and it was just the fax number of the service center. We were also offered a $25 refund for the misinformation we received but that was never provided. You should seriously consider using an alternative service. We spoke to other people who used other services and they had few problems compared to us. Pay attention to the stories you find. They are not exaggerations. PODS is a terrible company to work with.

2021-09-12The customer care contact was helpful and patient. We were able to get the correct sized POD delivered in a timely manner for the remodel for our home. Pickup was entirely an on line process. The driver showed up for the pick up when they said they would.
