Poke in other cities:
For an extremely long time my sister would always order a Poke bowl from Poke and it always looked amazing, so I decided to give it a chance. The delivery was extremely fast, the price was extremely reasonable, and it doesnt look that big, but man was it filling! If you are looking for a solid poke bowl on the upper east side, I recommend Poke!
I felt misled by this restaurant. They charged $4.00 for each piece of sashimi when we were told by the waiter that each portion had six pieces for that amount, quite unusual indeed, but it was a firm statement given the lack of clarity of the menu.I got a ridiculous check of more than $350 that based on the waiter’s response should have been $218 less. When we made the claim they just said sorry for the misunderstanding, which response was totally unacceptable and conflicting with the information of the menu and their employee. The quality of the food do not compensate the misleading attitude of this place.
Our waitress was great. After our first set of rolls we asked her to surprise us with the next set of rolls. They were delicious. This place is also BYOB which helps save money when the bill comes. I would recommend this restaurant. Dont forget to get the fried green tea ice cream for dessert.
2016: After spending $100 for sushi rolls, and a lovely evening, immediately after getting the check was asked to hurry up and leave because they had a line outside (3 people). We will never go back after being humiliated by this request. And yes I had half a glass of wine left.Fail, F-, ZERO stars.----Excellent sushi, nice ambiance, cash only.Young hip crowd. The ice cream is a life changing experience.
Love poke! Went there for the first time on a date, brought my own chardonnay, and they immediately put it on ice. Super friendly staff, quality sushi, and a cozy yet chic atmosphere. We did have to wait 15-20 minutes for a table at around 9:30 PM, but I think thats just a testament to how good the place is. Cant wait to come back!
I had took a date to this establishment. She has avocado allergies so we studied the menu to find a dish that she could enjoy that didnt have any avocados. She ordered a roll that was seemingly safe and to our surprise there was avocados present. We informed the waiter and the manager of the mistake. We even informed them that no where on the menu did it mention or indicate the ingredients of the roll, and we also informed them that she has allergies. The server took the dish away. When we got our bill we were still charged for their mistake and when we spoke with the manager they tried to accuse us of eating the rolls after we informed them she was allergic and her server took the rolls away from the table. After I told her I wasnt paying for something that we couldnt eat and it was their responsibility to inform the customer of what theyre purchasing she finally said shed only charge 3 dollars for a 8 dollar roll. I paid for the meal and didnt leave a tip.. The customer service was terrible. The menus werent informative and the food was average at best! I wouldnt recommend this place to anyone. At least if the food was amazing they could justify their attitude but it was extremely average. I would have given this establishment 0 stars but I was unable to using this medium.
So fresh! Reasonable prices! Loud interior, but quick service. Food was great, and they even make things off-menu, such as a Tuna Bomb or a Salmon Bomb (I cant describe these little treats/ appetizers, other than to say to order one and you wont be sorry!)One thing to note: if you are looking for a poké bowl, you wont find one here. The name is misleading, but the food is not! Its fantastic. This is cash only, and it is BYOB.
Sometimes they have several special fish, Marnited King Salmon, it is the skin of the Salmon after being grilled by fire, it has a little oily and crisp, the taste of fish pickling, it is very delicious!! And Seared Scallop is also delicious, not fishy, but delicious and slightly sweet, and the last one is a hand-rolled version of the Toasted King Crab, spicy and the hand-rolled rice is too delicious for the King crab
This is a nice little hole-in-the-wall sushi joint on the Upper East Side/Yorkville. Lots of fresh options, and you can sit at the sushi bar or at one of their tables. The entryway can get a bit drafty if you sit near the door, so take note in the wintertime. Its a pretty small place, so you may want to call ahead if you can. Bonus: theyre BYOB, so feel free to bring a bottle of wine with you if you like. I dig the naruto rolls and sashimi, but pretty much everything Ive had has been fresh, tasty and reasonably priced. Cute spot for a casual date.
Since poke moved from the hole in the wall location less than a block away, the pieces have gotten a bit smaller but the quality is still as high as bond street and nobu for a third of the cost. the byo policy and delicious sushi keep the restaurant bursting at the seams with upper east siders.

2022-07-12The best sushi place by far on the upper east side. The sushi is fresh, the ambiance great, byob is definitely a plus. My husband and I have been going to poke for years, you just can’t beat the quality of food that is served there.

2022-05-11It used to be my favorite sushi until yesterday. Now is the worst. Small size, mediocre fish quality and taste, very expensive. BYOB is nice but realize you are getting a horrible deal on the sushi.

2018-08-14Decent sushi, loud interior, and loved that it is BYOB, but portions are crazy small! We ordered a total of 6 rolls and appetizer and left in satisfied. Some of the “bigger” rolls were only 4 pieces!

2022-03-05Hands down some of the best sushi Ive ever eaten. Cash only, no reservations, and BYOB. Must try the truffle rolls and thy tuna bomb.

2020-03-08This is probably my favorite sushi place in all of New York City. BJ, the owner, is one of the most friendly and wonderful guys and sushi chefs. Highly recommended. Try the scallop. BYOB. There’s a liquor store just across first Avenue.

2021-12-22Harry is the best waiter I’ve ever had. He is so friendly and made amazing recommendations and I would recommend this restaurant to all my friends and family. I recommend the ikura sushi and the lobster roll. The poke roll and golden dragon are also fantastic.

2022-07-04Cash only with mediocre food. I dont think I will go back for dining here, since there are better options around the town.

2021-10-30The prices and quantity of the food is absurd. This place acts like it’s a Michelin star restaurant charging an erroneous amount for small pieces of fish. The quality is most often fresh, but definitely not always. Being a cash only restaurant on top of it all should not be allowed. BYOB means one 750ml bottle per two people. That’s not a lot. We order $120+ for two people and they have the audacity to charge $1 for an extra small plastic container of ginger. The tuna bomb is $15 for four small bites which are essentially smashed tuna with rice, sriracha, mayo, and tempura flakes. Basically a spicy tuna roll configured differently. Ordered the yellowtail scallion roll and it was the sorriest roll I’ve ever had in my entire life. Grocery store rolls are better than that. I have given this place several tries ordering rolls and I would say you’re better off just getting a la carte sushi/sashimi. The seaweed on the outside was wrinkly and the size of each cut piece was the circumference of a nickel — honestly, maybe smaller which is hard to believe, but BELIEVE ME. Also ordered salmon, scallop, yellowtail, albacore, eel, salmon roe nigiri - all were fresh but extremely small. I just can’t warrant spending $120 and then still having to eat pizza and popcorn after the meal because you’re still hungry. There are better options with superb quality like Sugarfish for example. Also, not to mention they have completely copied the Sugarfish logo/website. UNORIGINAL. Will not be spending another dime at this place. I would have no problem seeing this place disappear as a result of covid, or just in general. You have to be fair.

2022-03-25I never seen anything like this!!! The size of the sushi is so small and it even doesn’t taste good. The sushi in the supermarket taste better than that.. stay away!!!
