Coffee is among the best Ive had anywhere. Plenty of roasts and blends to choose from, but the House Blend is a good starting point as its excellent. Also dont miss the hazelnut - no chemical flavors and theres actual hazelnuts mixed into the blend! Highly recommended.
First time coming here and the smell of coffee is like heaven if youre a coffee drinker! You wouldnt expect from the look outside what youd be walking into (i sure didnt!) what a great surprise! You can buy coffee beans by the lb and so many flavors! I am bringing my husband back since him and I are coffee addicts and love good coffee. I bought a cappuccino and was delicious. Such a simple but great place to find!
Bags of coffee everywhere and the whole place smells fantastic! Offers a huge mix of normal, flavoured and decaf coffee. Also a broad selection of teas too. Plus they have a espresso bar (unfortunately it shuts at 8pm).Kind and helpful staff. They can also grind the coffee beans for ones preferred medium. Prices for the beans are comparable to whats available prepackaged in the supermarket so well worth buying from here.
Walking inside this place, the coffee bean smell is amazing. I had a match latte. Im no matcha connoisseur, but I shared with someone who is, he said it did not skimp on the matcha though its not the best quality. He had an ice tea (I didnt catch which type) that he was enthusiastic about.
A small coffee bean supplier/shop with a wide assortment of quality beans. They also have equipment for coffee and loose-leaf teas. There is a decent amount of organic and fair trade options; they sometimes have direct trade beans available. The setup inside may be a bit overwhelming; however, the staff are helpful and easy-going. There is also a small coffee shop in the back if youre looking to grab a beverage to-go.
If i would give 0 stars i definitely do it , customer service is the worst specially the guy doing the coffee at the back he talk to customers really bad , seem like if he hate his job, i always recommend this place to everyone, but not anymore. i asked for manager since he guy at the back has a really bad actitud and the manager said that the manager was at the back. he didn’t did anything about the issue. will never go there again.
My boyfriend ordered their house blend and I a cup of hot cocoa. Staff were friendly and the place seemed to have a good variety and selection of coffees from all over the world. They were knowledgeable and everything seemed to be fresh and packaged with care. The hot cocoa was delicious and the coffee was strong but not overwhelming. It was a nice, smooth and fresh cup of coffee. The place had a good ambiance
My go to coffee supplier, either in person , or on line. The selection is amazing. The special blends are exciting. The service is friendly and helpful. If you are overwhelmed by the breadth of their selections simply tell one of the staff what kind of coffee you like and they will suggest one or coffees that meets your taste profile.
I have been ordering this coffee delivered to my home in Chicago for months now. I am absolute addicted and have been since a trip to NYC. The flavored coffees are high quality, flavorful and a pure enjoyment every morning. And your shipping is very timely! Thank you…
This Family Owned multi generation staple of down town is not to miss. Arguably one of the best selection of fine coffees under one roof in all of Manhattan. Porto Rico Importing coffee has been a corner stone of my mornings for years and will remain so for years to come.Knowable staff that really take their time to help you get what you want really separate them from the others as well and elevate this place even more.PS If your just passing though and want a cup they can get that for you too!
Its our go-to source for delicious and quality coffee beans. After trying dozens of other much more expensive coffee from all over the city, we always come back here! My favorites are their Vanilla flavored beans and their own iced coffee blend. Fresh, great quality, AND reasonably priced! All their store locations smell like heaven. Highly recommended! Please stock more Vanilla!!!
My family has been purchasing stuff from this coffee shop in the West village for decades. They have lots choice beans to choose from, and Ive never been disappointed. And that is coming from someone who lives roughly 60 to 90 minutes outside of the city and we will almost always go there and buy several pounds of coffee to take back with us. Mocha Java is one of my favorites.
There are no other places Id wait 20 minutes on a line -- in the cold rain -- to get inside. But I did it here, yesterday. You like coffee? This is your place. A good old-fashioned coffee and tea emporium with tons of choice and options. Ive loved this place for decades, and it hasnt changed a bit. Dont think about it, just go. But be patient! And get a freshly brewed cup while youre there...☕
My favorite place in Manhattan to buy fresh coffee. Barrels and barrels of coffee beans from all over the world; the scent itself is worth a visit. A good cup of coffee can be had here at a very reasonable price, and there are a pair of benches in front if you care to linger. The staff is generally very professional, with 1 or 2 exceptions on occasion (no, its not perfect). I stock up here at least once a month and their prices are very reasonable.
I’ve only been here for to-go coffee drinks and as far as those go, I’m not really a fan. I’m really particular about my coffee though so ymmv! It’s a cute shop, the staff is nice, and is maybe be willing to pick up a small amount of their bulk beans and give brewing them myself a chance.
First time at this place and wow! What a great selection of coffees and accessories. I was pleasantly surprised and happy. Coffee sold in all types of amounts (good for the beginner, such as myself) and the staff is very knowledgeable about the products. I didnt notice too much emphasis on roasted dates, so I never quite knew how old each bean was - but the ones we tried were very enjoyable!
Possibly the best coffee shop in NY. Honestly, I have been buying at this store for many years and I I never found a better place in NYC. The selection is great nearly forty coffees and blends. Also a large selection teas. The roasting of the coffee is excellent and brings out the rich flavor in each coffee. The prices are very reasonable, and every week there is a coffee on sale. Please try this place of you like coffee, you love this store.
Smells sooo good in there! The staff was friendly and helpful. The cups of coffee (both the light and dark roast) were wonderfully brewed and fresh. Their very fairly priced whole bean coffee has proven to be consistent and I take some home with me every time I visit.
The best organic coffees and fair trade Ive found anywhere. A Greenwich Village classic...family owned and passed down from generation to generation. Over a century old and a tourist destination. Prices are also the best around. Ive been going here since I was a kiddo and the nostalgic feels here are only topped by the superb quality.
Still the great coffee place that it is...though as with many establishments, you cannot go into the store itself. You just have to order at the counter. Cannot smell the beans.Still great coffee though.I just found out that they roast the French Brazilian Blk coffee beans right at this store (Bleeker St. branch).👍
Love this place! Other than Philz in Cali there’s no other coffee like it, where they actually make the blends with real ingredients. Like real almonds and chocolate in the chocolate-almond blend. You can taste the difference! Selection is incredibly wide and for any budget (for decent coffee, I mean).
Upon entering Porto Rico, the first thing that is likely to catch your attention are the rows of burlap sacks, each with a neat card detailing its contents. The smell will have reached you some yards from the door, enticing in unsuspecting passerby and regulars alike. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable about their products, which extend beyond coffee to include tea, spices, and the varied accoutrements that go along with them. Coffee can be ground to whatever grind setting is the best fit for your preferred coffee maker. If your cravings for coffee demand more immediate satisfaction, their coffee counter is more than happy to serve up a variety of coffee shop standards
Best coffee store i ever visited.. The aroma of so many different coffees are amazing. This place is heaven on earth to any coffee lovers. I highly recommend. Try their daily fresh bree coffee . Better and less expensive than other competitors. You will not regret the visit. And yes the customer service is superior as the coffee.
Abundance of beans selections with helpful staff in case you get lost on what to choose. Prices are fair ranging from affordable to I know avocados are extra. You can bag it up as whole beans or have them grind it for you. Aside coffee beans, they also sell lots of interesting snacks, equipment for making coffee of your desire techniques and their own little coffee drinks corner. If youre a coffee enthusiast, this place deserves your attention.
Located inside the great old school market of Essex Street is this gem of a coffee place. Very nice style and a friendly guys brewing one of the best coffees ive had in New York. The combination of the location and the excellent roasted coffee, makes this one of my favourite coffee take away places.
Ive been looking for a good supplier of high-quality, single-origin, non-flavored black tea in New York. A friend recommended this place because of their coffee, but their tea selection is still impressive. The person behind the counter helped me make good choices without trying to push the most expensive options. A great shopping experience.
It is an old coffee and tea shop, full of striking bags of coffee beans of many varieties and of good quality. There are no tables to sit on but you can buy coffee or tea in the back of the store. You can also buy chocolate candies and some pastries. the prices are lower than the big cafeteria chains. Its a pity that there are not more places like this in the city
Breathe in the best coffee aromas anywhere and get your coffee on! You want a bean, theyve got it. You want a grind, theyve got it. You want it fast and at a good price, where else is there? This place has been in business forever because they know what theyre doing and they do it better than anyone.
Small cozy neighborhood shop chock full of coffee bean and tea offerings. 20% off Tea sale runs through 2/28/19. Very busy on Sat. afternoon. Brewed coffee line ran length of shop. Good selection of teas. Though staff is helpful, they sometimes get distracted chatting with each other while you wait.
Came here for the first time and omg the smell of coffee was mesmerizing. So many different flavors and smell! It’s almost like a coffee museum it was amazing! The people were also so friendly! They have one esspresso machine in the back which made the place look sooo chic! I loved it. I had their dry cappuccino which was done perfectly. It was smooth and delicious. We are coming back before we leave town to get some coffee beans!
The go-to place for coffee beans for my daily espresso needs. Aroma in the store is undescribable, one has to experience it to know what Im talking about.Staff is incredibly knowledgeable, will make good recommendations if you know what youre seeking and what kind of brewing method youll use. They will grind the beans for you as well for specifically what you need. They always have specials, even though the coffee is already very competitively priced. No pre-packed coffee bean manufacturers can even come close to these guys.Absolutely recommended.
Coffee seller with a small cafe inside. Excellent selection of coffees with expert staff. Also a good place to buy and of the varieties of drip or professional coffee brewers. Many of the restaurants in Soho, including Once Upon a Tart, use coffee from here as their choice of what to serve. I highly recommend the Dutch blend.
The best coffee in NY.I lived in Europe so I am somehow picky about coffee.Since I tried their coffee I became addicted, like I am NOT ABLE TO DRINK other coffee anymore since a year now. They have all kind of Portoricain coffee, French, Ethiopian. And various flavors.Dark or light color coffee (they explain to you the difference between the colors).I tried to tip them, they don’t accept tips except the coffee maker for a fresh coffee.A proof of authenticity. The team are well knowledgeable very professional.Next time I will try their tea and will update my review:)PS they also have the ice cream coffee so yummi, was my best partner this summer lol
I buy all my coffee here. Peters Blend is my favorite. Everyone who has coffee at my house asks what kind of coffee it is. On my last visit I was pleasantly surprised to see an espresso bar in the back (Ive been ordering it online since I stopped working in Manhattan over 20 years ago). While you can get a caffeine buzz just breathing the air in this place, a quick cup of espresso really does the trick. There are dozens of burlap bags of freshly roasted coffees from everywhere imaginable. While Im not much of a tea drinker, they also have a great selection of Teas. And chocolate covered Espresso Beans too!! Check it out.
Awesome place for good coffee and tea herbs. You can buy whole bean coffee or order it ground. Brewed coffee is also sold there. No tables though. Just two benches at the entrance, but why would you need tables if there you find small parks and the Washington Square Park. Its a unique coffee, old school simple coffee away from those Starbucks alike places.
The coffee is stored in open air containers which make me wonder how fresh it could be. Most are flavored and not single origin so if your are looking for freshly roasted or rare beans, you may need to look elsewhere. They did have a good variety of brewing vessels and of course tea.
This coffee and gift shop is a charming, hidden gem. It’s got so many varietals available for purchase; a barista with a frequent customer card; and tons of specialty gifts from houseware to candy to postcards. Anyone I’ve brought in has agreed: Porto Rico Importing is really special.
I schlep here on the regular from Queens to get rhe best coffee beans (at really good prices). They also have good tea, coffee and tea accessories, some cute gifty things, candy and a coffee/pastry counter inside. I also bring the coffee from this place as the ideal host gift. Their sales are great too.
Amazing coffee shop with an old world feel. The coffee is all displayed in barrels. Smells amazing. Try the Roses 100th birthday blend for a nice medium roast. Another favorite is the tiramisu coffee and pumpkin seasonally. They also have a great selection of teas and coffee machine, presses etc. Also some cute little gift items
A good place to purchase Coffee and Tea. They have a wide selection of different types of coffee that you can purchase either whole bean or ground. There is a half pound minimum per type. they also have a very very wide selection of bulk tea that you can buy with a 1-ounce minimum. I recommend Puerto Rico importing for their coffee and tea selection
I love this place you walk in and the aroma of coffee surrounds you. The staff are very friendly knowledgeable helpful there is a very large selection of coffees and teas and you can get fresh brewed coffee in the back and most of the time they have great music playing there I would definitely suggest it to anybody and tourists too.✌💝☕
I used to frequent the St.Marks location. The Bleecker St. shop is twice the size of St.Marks. Walking in you will be greeted by bags and bags of imported coffee beans, old regular New Yorkers, mugs, candy jars and other coffee related trinkets for sale. The coffee is always great. Cant recommend this place enough.
The coffee here is roasted in house and you wont find much better in NYC. Theyve been doing it a long time and know their craft. Have questions? They will answer. Need to just get in and out? no problem. This is a great store with terrific coffee, worth the trip to Bleeker street!
I went in here because I saw they were advertising a cold brewed to-go coffee concentrate. It occurred to me that they might have the cold brewing filters that I usually have to order on-line. They did.So, yes, I cold-brew my coffee. Its a method of making coffee probably used by 1% of coffee drinkers. Youd probably think that makes me one of those coffee snobs, but Im not. I like coffee. Im even down to learn a little about coffee, but youll never hear me criticize how someone drinks coffee, what they put in it, etc.As I am waiting to check out, I see they have a perfectly fine price on a blend that they are calling there Iced Coffee Blend. So I ask for a pound of it as I needed some anyway. When I asked why its their iced coffee blend the salesmen said its just what they use to cold brew coffee and they think it comes out smooth. He was completely not-precious about it. His attitude implied, We like it but were not pretending that were magicians or anything. When you go to a coffee shop and they make a giant deal out of everything, Im not into that. I like it better when folks both try to give you what you like, just as you like it but also dont pretend that there is a right way to enjoy coffee. These folks seemed to get that.So I dug it. Ill stop in again when I find myself on Bleecker St. And I know I will find myself there.
I rarely give five star reviews, but Porto Rico has a special place in my heart. Its one of the few places that I can say has been around since I was a little kid, and walking inside always takes me back to the good ol days. The staff is always helpful, the crowd of people that you see in the store is always entertaining, and you can get some top quality goods. I like to get assorted coffee beans to give as gifts because they have a lot to offer, but its also nice to be able to give something from a place that has a nice story.
There is often a line for service. This is a place that is popular for coffee lovers. The service and attention you get is worth waiting for. Staff there is knowledgeable about coffee. They take their time with you from getting what yoy want, grinding the way you want and answering questions. I live in the Bronx, and I come here every other week to get my favs. The aroma around is wonderful, and it has a down home old fahioned atmosphere. I love it.
We bought tea, it came damaged because the delivery company tossed the package at our door... Alex was very helpful, she sent us brand new delicious tea. Truly we have ordered tea from her company for over five years. Porto Rico Importing is the best quality around.... and the fairest price .
This is the shop that got me drinking coffee straight with no milk (I had already given up sugar.) I first went to the Bleecker location during one of their annual sales. It was lunch time and there was a line of maybe six people waiting to have some bags filled (you cannot scoop your own.) There was a little disorganization, as myself and one other person became irked when were repeatedly overlooked, until we noticed that people line up at the register for service before moving over to the sacks of beans, then back to the register to pay.I had questions, they had answers. During my first visit, we talked about the flavor profile of a few of their offerings; I had never thought about brewing a cup using espresso beans in a coffee press before, thinking that it would be too burnt and intimidating to enjoy... until they recommended trying it. There is even a little nook in the back where you can buy single cups of drip. The staff can be a little intimidating and surly, and you will probably feel rushed... but they definitely wont steer you wrong if you ask for recommendations.
The smell hits you right as you walk into the door at this West Village spot. Wow. Yum. Coffee beans. The selection is ridiculous and the staff is knowledgeable and not forceful. They also have a little spot in back where you can order a coffee drink if you like. Its a perfect alternative to the corporate spots that litter the streets. We grab an espresso or drip and enjoy a walk around Bleecker.
This is my favorite coffee place before I hit the library. The girls behind the counter are wonderful. I can get soy milk added to my coffee for free. They also offer a variety of discounts, e.g. if you bring back the coffee cup, you get a refill at a lower price and if you collect 5 receipts, you get a free coffee. Also, if you are nice to the baristas, they occassionally give you a free coffee. I cant say I have bought any of their coffee beans, but they have a wide selection of coffee/tea accessories..
If there was ever a place that truly deserves a 5 star rating its Porto Rico Importing company!I have not been to the store yet but have order from them online many times. I faintly remember seeing something about them on a TV program and am so glad I did. I will definitely be visiting very soon. The selection is unreal and the pricing is unmatched! Please do yourself a favor and check them out for yourself, you will not be disappointed!
Absolutely fantastic! They have a plethora of coffees and loose leaf teas. They also have a small coffee stand in the back of the shop. The staff was very helpful and polite (even with it being packed for the holidays). Love it, recommend it and will definitely go back.
Lapin and I were in the neighborhood and decided to pop in. The aroma of coffee quickly greets you upon entering. The store is filled in every nook and cranny with coffee beans, sweets, and random (but cool) merch. The store wasnt packed when we went but it was hard to get someones attention. When, we did they were really nice and helpful. They asked about preferences and even gave recommendations. Lapin got the Hazelnut coffee but wasnt super excited about it since it had actual hazelnut in it. He picked them out before grinding the coffee. He liked it but prefers Blue Bottle, Brooklyn Roasting Company, Cafe Grumpy and Stumptown instead. They also had containers of old time candy - the fudge and chocolate covered candies were delicious.
Best value coffee roaster in NYC offering an epic variety of roasts that literally takes your breath away when you step inside this aromatic shop. Ill gladly put their $8/pound Costa Rican against anything with a trendy brand that you can find for 3x the price at a coffee shop.
Google said I had to leave a review because they track my every move and now expect me to perform work in order to improve their platform.I heard about Porto Rico on Yelp, which is far better for finding coffee places. And less creepy.Anyway, this place is great. Try the peaberry roast.
Ive been a fan of Porto Rico for over 8 years now, tending to make a trip there every other week. Its one of the last places you can get good quality coffee at a reasonable price. The staff is knowledgable and friendly. Personally, Id recommend upgrading from some of the basic blends and go for the single origin roasts or the light Brazilian Bourbon Cerrado.
I have visited this place, but can tell Ill be visiting again. This place has a good vibe inside. It has remained the same for years, which means their business just works. They have an amazing array of whole beans and tea leaves. The staff is very helpful when answering questions honestly.
The place is well organized and it is relatively clean. However, they allow dogs in the store. There was a customer with a huge dog which is extremely unsanitary because the store keeps their coffees in open sacks which are at waist level (I am 63 tall). As for the employees, there were three males by the the tea section and I asked them for assistance. The black guy stared at the old white guy who frowned and looked down. Then the hispanic guy said might as well help. This was unplesant, unprofessional and definitly deters a return. Then, I went to the station serving hot coffee. The girl seemed bothered when I asked for a black cup of coffee. She quickly served and charged me without even a smile and returned to her cellphone.
Puerto Rican imports is a very special coffee beans shop to me personally due to not only the great variety of beans that are available but also due to the fantastic prices. Too many stores in Manhattan try to rip people off but that is not the case for Puerto Rican imports which allows the surrounding university students to get great coffee at a great price.Their coffee bar is also fairly cheap and I personally really love their ice coffee blend (it’s the best).
The best part of this place is the variety of coffee. Really. You can chose their special blends or have Central America, Caribbean, Africa, Asia or South American coffees. Some coffees are organic, shade-grown, fair trade, cafe femenino and my favorite rainforest grown. What I love about Porto Rico is the customer service. Wonderful people who cater to your needs. Porto Rico has been here for over 100 years in the heart of Greenwich Village.
I used to get my tea here before I discovered Fairway. I like the puh er, silver needle, and osmanthus green tea here. The system is inconvenient if you want to get more than one type of tea. After you decided on your choice, you have to wait in line for someone to weight the tea for you. By the time they get to you, you probably wont remember where all the containers are located.
Purto Rico Importing on Bleecker Street and Avenue of the Americas in Greenwich Village, Manhattan, NYC.is the west side for the Purto Rico Inoorting on St. Marks Place and 2nd Avenue.I use to frequent this shop before the one on St. Marks Place when i was living in SoHo. This shop is bigger than the other one. I think by 3 times. The staff here are equally friendly, polite, knowledgable and professional.

2022-02-22Wonderful selection of coffee beans and loose tea. Coffee fans will love the smell as soon as you open the door! We were visiting our son who lives nearby and couldnt pass up the opportunity to visit and purchase some coffee and tea. The gentleman who helped us was extremely friendly. We will definitely be back again!

2021-07-26Since COVID the inside looks different with coffee bags behind plastic screens. Still smells wonderful and they still have freshly brewed espresso and coffee in the back of the store. Very nice flavor. All the coffee roasting is done offsite in Brooklyn.

2022-06-25Great selection, however I asked for a pour over grind (medium) and went home & discovered it was an espresso grind (fine) I would expect such a specialty coffee place to have their grind settings dialed in

2022-06-10Hands down the best, been a customer for 30 yrs. Mail order is also so convenient and free shipping 75 and over, 50 and over if in the city. Peters Blend best breakfast coffee, if organic, Alex blend. I have tried everything from many states, this place wins hands down, best in the USA literally

2022-07-30Was so excited to go here since my husband and I are on vacation from Texas. We went today to get some ground coffee to take back home and all the employees were rude and not helpful at all. My husband tried asking about if a coffee was highly rated and the guy just said “no”. Not offered his suggestions or offered to help. Then after no one asking us if we need help I tried to get some coffee to weigh (thinking it was self weigh since no one was helping) and an employee said “no you can’t do that you need to go to the front” at that point I just left. No point in spending money at a place where they’re rude & don’t help. Disappointed to say the least

2022-08-11A coffee lovers literal dream. The iced coffee is wonderful.

2022-06-23I like their teas but they have refused to use my spotlessly clean container and also have refused to reuse their own bags for a refill. Their bags are plastic/ paper mix and not recyclable. I buy loose tea to avoid waste but now, on 3 separate occasions, they have given me unwanted and unnecessary unrecyclable bags. Third time is the charm so it’s only McNulty’s for me.

2019-06-16As you enter that door, you’re immersed in an enchanting mixture of coffee scents from all over the globe. The olfactory and visual experience is Fantastic. My Favorite Coffee & Tea Store on Bleeker Street in Greenwich Village ☕️🍎They also sell great Coffee and Tea accessories, sweets, etc.I absolutely love this store! The South American and Éthiopien Coffee are divine! They grind the Coffee beans for you.The staff is super friendly :)The location is superb. Love Bleeker Street ❤️I definitely recommend this store!!!
