They are quick to respond to potential applicants and provide excellent information about their dogs; they appear to require applicants to live within 1 - 2 hours from their Long Beach, LI location. We were very disappointed to learn this after submitting an application. For some reason, despite living within the required distance, we were denied because we were considered too far away.
Thank you, Linda! Fabulous experience from start to finish. For full disclosure we had actually applied for a puppy a couple months ago and didnt hear back. I understood completely - they get so many applications! I applied again this week for a different puppy that tugged at our heart strings and Linda connected with us so quickly. She was so lovely to speak to. Its clear they care SO MUCH about their pets. I appreciate everything they do. Their process is thorough, and their facility is top notch. I cant say thanks enough. We are overwhelmed with love for our puppy. THANK YOU, LINDA!
We adopted our little dog Lexi from here last year. She was not the dog we had originally came to see, but after observing us interacting with the other animals they identified Lexi as a potential match, which she was.My wife and I could not have been happier with the results of the adoption process.
We had found Posh Pets Rescue online and submitted an application. We didnt think much of it to be honest, but now, oh so great. We had reached out to a few rescues, with one other getting back to us. Posh was so much more coordinated and efficient during these Covid times. Everyone we met was super friendly. It looks like they have a great facilityand its 100% clear how much all of them (all volunteers) love the animals! We spoke with someone Tuesday, set up a meet and greet Wednesday (adopted same day), and picked up our puppy Friday morning (she was just spayed otherwise we wouldnt have had to wait). After posting on social media, we received so many questions on where we got her and after responding, so many people said how great Posh was or how they heard such great things.I cant recommend them enough. If youre looking for a dog of any age, definitely reach out to Posh Pets Rescue!
If you are looking to adopt a new family pet, I highly recommend Posh Pets Rescue. Everyone we had the pleasure of meeting and speaking with was kind and professional...the process to adopt is thorough, and nice to know they take such extra precautions when placing one of their pets for adoption in a good home. We are so thankful to Posh Pets for chosing us to give our new puppy a good home...we couldnt love him more!
We had such an amazing experience with Posh Pets Rescue and would highly recommend rescuing an animal from them. They are quick to respond to potential applicants and provide excellent information about their animals. They take such great care of their animals and really care about the homes they are putting them into. If you are looking to rescue any animal, you should definitely visit Posh Pets!
From the gate my brown face and the mixed faces of my children were met with scorn. We pressed on and continued to enter for their “fall in love” event. Where one staffer literally snatched a pet from my arms with no explanation. The blatant disregard for us was so apparent that the pups foster apologized. My advice to you is find a center/org that judges from the heart like cats and dogs do and not by race. My advice for this org is “never judge a book by its cover,” and judge people by their spirit and intention like your animals do.
I got my pup Gracie from here almost 3 years ago. Literally the best experience of my life. I traveled almost 3 hours to go get her. The staff is wonderful and Linda was such a pleasure to get to know. I love this shelter and everything they do! I highly recommend checking this place out if you’re interested in adopting!!
Just adopted our new addition from this Posh Pets. They were quick to respond to our inquiry, and helped our family, including 2 kids and dog, to meet her and get acquainted before we signed the papers. Everyone, including our dogs foster mommy, who was there to meet us, was kind and helpful. Thank you Posh Pets for making this a wonderful experience!
We adopted our puppy from Posh Pets Rescue April 1st and couldn’t be happier with our experience. From the moment we had contact with Linda, we were highly impressed by her thorough background check of us to protect the animals. We wanted to see the puppy the day we spotted him on the website, because we were in Long Island, and she didn’t allow us to come without our other dog who was at home. She explained she needed to know they got along in order to give him to us. When we got to her the next morning, she had checked our house on google earth to make sure there was a yard, as we indicated on our application and waited until she felt sure that our older dog was friendly, before putting down the pup. As dog lovers and rescuers, we were so happy she was so careful in who takes home her animals. We were equally impressed with the other staff we met the day we got our pup, as they too loved each animal and knew all of them intimately. Not an easy task in a shelter with so many animals coming in and out all of the time.We highly recommend them and will definitely look there next time we are getting a puppy!Elissa
Adopted my Oliver from Posh Pets a little over a year ago. Vanessa and the volunteers at the adoption event were wonderful. Oliver was found on the street in NYC. Posh pets did a fantastic job socializing him. They care deeply about the cats in their care. Posh Pets are thorough in checking references. They spoke to my vet before I arrived so I was able to take Oliver home the same day. I am so grateful they chose me to be Olivers Mom. I highly recommend Posh pet if you are looking to adopt a healthy well adjusted cat.
We had a wonderful experience with Posh Pets as we adopted a cat. They were excellent in speaking with us about the animals and helping us get set on the right path. Vanessa was amazing, and since we brought our kitty we have been in touch with Fern, who has been highly helpful as we work to integrate our new cat to our resident cat. These people truly care for the animals and are saving lives. We love our Bagheera kitty
Jen is the best in the business. She has been working with our family for over 3 years. The service is excellent. My dog adores her and looks forward to the walks and all the love and attention she gives. In fact, when I am home, my pet still knows the time Jen comes and waits by the door for her. The service is reliable, the company is trustworthy and will do a great job for you and your pets. I would recommend them to anyone.
Unfortunately this tops all bad experiences with any organization/business that Ive ever had. This rescue has very mixed reviews and now I understand why. (Their response to bad reviews here should be a warning) There is no standard for professionalism and how clients are spoken to. Vanessa V****** is sadly wasting resources, time and effort of volunteers that help her and therefore taking away opportunities to help more animals. I had been approved after they spent days checking references to adopt a kitten that was staying with a foster. When it came time to send in forms and payment I was denied medical records beforehand. She went off on me through email saying that I assumed shes a liar and that they would now be choosing someone else. Its customary to be transparent about these sorts of things and there was a simple way to resolve the matter but she clearly was threatened by this question and retaliated for it. They do their reference checks for a reason and dont just go by what Ive listed on the application yet I was expected to pay for and take a cat that I hadnt even seen in person based on the word of someone I hadnt spoken to aside from email..?
HORRIBLE...!People who plan to adopt from here, please read all the negative reviews first. They must be ashamed of themselves. We saw the beautiful puppy LEILA on Posh rescue website and loved it and contacted via email right away. The person Linda Vetrano, contacted and gave us an appointment for Saturday 12.30 pm( 3 days later ). We even tried to get an appointment same day we saw LEILA on their website and following day, but she insisted on the appointment only for Saturday. She also wanted to meet my other dog and children before she could give Leila for adoption. Which is great. However...Saturday, on our way to Long beach ( Posh Rescue adoption center ) , which we live 1 hour away from, we contacted Linda via e mail and notified her that we are on our way, and be there shortly. She than wrote us an e mail, telling us that LEILA was already adopted, without even giving us a chance to meet or notifying us or anything. It is not professional, it is plain sadistic. At the end, 2 heartbroken children and big disappointment.THEY MUST BE ASHAMED OF THEMSELVES...!
They are truly caring people who want the best for the pets in their careWe are very fortunate 2 1/2 years ago I adopted my little girl Lucy and she has been a godsend ......she is friendly happy caring a joy to have. She helped me and my family heal from the loss of my bichon and filled a void for our daschhound who was heart broken. My daschound just passed away 2 weeks ago and Lucy was sad. I contacted posh pets and adopted Marshall a baby hound mix.lucy and us are again happyPosh pets have many dogs and they take very good care of them and they try very hard to match all their pets with the right family.Thank you Linda and your staff for the act of love you do day in and day out
All of our dogs have been rescues but Ive never been so thoroughly vetted as I was by Posh Pets. I fell in love with our little guy Loki when I saw his photo. After filling out an application I was contacted by Linda. We arranged a time to meet as Loki was fostered in her home. It was clear that my soon to be furbabe was well taken care of in her home. Linda provided me with a full run down of his history, gave me his medication and food preferences. She followed up with an email containing his medical records. Later when I had questions, Linda took the time to answer in detail. We couldnt be happier and I cant say enough about Posh Pets. They are the kindest, most loving rescue Ive experienced. In addition, they took over the Long Beach animal shelter which was a horrible, filthy hole and turned it into a clean, safe haven for animals awaiting their forever homes.
Made an appointment to see Hooper and the lady Linda was 40 minutes late. She never told me to bring my dog or whole family. Her response was I’m not going to give you a dog without seeing your whole family. I also asked if I could go home and come right back and she said I have to go back to the city. And thousands of people want this dog.I said she didn’t let me know that a head of time and her answer was most people know. Absolutely terrible!!! I drove 20 miles and her response wasn’t professional at all. Very disappointing. These dogs need homes and I would love to give one a home, unfortunately communication is a issue. Should be #1 to let the people know everything they need. Very sad!!!!
Made appointment to meet a potential new family member. Told kids to be ready for visit Saturday. We were all excited. Owner was non responsive when asked to confirm meeting. She finally confirmed. Then must have looked at our property on Google Maps satellite view. We have perfect yard and have had two dogs for 7 years. Owner then told us dog was a runner and she did not feel comfortable even having meeting with us based on her view of our yard. Kids were crushed. What an awful and cruel organization with a power tripping director.
My family and I had wanted to adopt this adorable puppy there. We had submitted several applications and sent several emails with no response. Anytime we called they said that the director goes through the applications and wed need to wait on them. If youre looking to adopt a puppy here, youre going to never get a response back.
We wanted to adopt so badly instead of buying. We just wanted to visit the Shelter since we saw a few photos and descriptions of the dogs they had online. When I called they said I would need an application. After filling out the thorough application I called to get an estimate time of when I can go to visit the dogs at their shelter. I tried to schedule the appointment and the receptionist didn’t know when, she said it wasn’t up to her. Then she told me I wouldn’t be qualified for the dog since it was their policy that in order to adopt you must already have a dog at home, which was not clear on their website. I wish they disclosed this on their website. She wasted my time, when I was halfway on my way to driving to Long Beach, I turned right back around. My entire family actually really fell in love with this dog so this was hurtful. So if anyone is considering adopting here, make sure you have at least one other dog.
Possibly one of the worst experiences Ive ever had with a shelter. We tried calling/emailing them for nearly two weeks and had ZERO responses to our questions or application. Save your time and apply elsewhere. Weve already put in applications for a few other shelters, and shocker, weve had pleasant, prompt replies everywhere else.
I recently adopted a beautiful little girl whitney and I am truly blessed .posh pets could not have been any kinder and professional during the adoption process. I love the fact that they love their rescues and make sure its a true fit for you and your family. Linda is one incredible lady and I respect her decisions made. Her staff and volunteers are amazing and truly love the rescues..thank you again for changing my life ..I love love my whitney girl...
After applying for a few Maltese dogs, it took days to get someone to respond to me. After that, countless emails and messages were sent back and forth before someone by the name of Linda finally called me. The dogs that I applied for were evidently adopted, soso s spoke to me about 2 Yorkies. While I have a Yorkie, I said Ill consider it, and asked for pictures. She texted me pictures. My partner and I thought about it, and called her back to tell her that we preferred a Maltese. Linda hung up on me. Very unprofessional Linda.Thiis organization probably steals dogs out of yards and then adopts them out. Scam. Stay away. This is the second rescue in one week that was rude to us. We wont be adopting. We will be shopping.
I went to go see some dogs orPups and possibly keep them company being there locked in a cage all day and nightAssuming you peopleWouldLike to adopt them out- I don’tUnderstand why I WAS TREATED SOO RUDLY BY THE WOMAN THERE (blond hair)NotOnlyWas she rude but toldMeI have to make an appointmentThat’s fine- BUT AFTER 3-4x calling I GOTNO CALL BACK AT ALL!What happened to LB Animalshelter?I’ve been a LB resident my entire life and never knew outAnimalShelter to be this way - Rating is a zero
Adopted my beautiful Jerry from Posh back in June. Jerry is such a sweet and happy little puppy and I could not be happier. He is a great little brother to our Simba. Linda from Posh clearly cares about the pups in her care and about finding the right home for each of them. So happy with Posh and Jerry!
I have adopted 2 cats from this organization. My father and I have no complaints about our cats health/wellbeing. Vanessa and her volunteer staff are very professional, caring. I would advise anyone who is looking for a cat/dog etc, contact Vanessa and her volunteers.
Everything was fine, friendly & professional with emails & a phone with Linda for a meetup with a rescue. Jenny(the beagle) was 2 years old & nothing stated in her bio that she wasn’t housebroken. It stated leashed trained, so assumed she was housebroken & when I asked if she was & was then treated with the nastiest behavior I’ve ever experienced in years in any service industry. I did ask if the appt.could be earlier (It being Good Friday& Passover), it was moved30 Min prior. This was all fine according to Linda, so don’t know why I was being yelled at about it when I arrived. I saw the puppies were beautiful there. I still dont understand the hostility I encountered. Even the people in the waiting room gave me looks of confusion about the way I was treated.
So I have to tell you how disappointing and frustrating my experience has been with this organization!I submitted 2 separate applications for 2 different dogs and I heard nothing back from anyone, I sent follow up emails, tried calling and Nothing! Then imagine my dismay as I’m scrolling through the pics of the dogs and it says Adopted! And I sent these apps in as soon as I saw the new pics posted of these 2 dogs so I don’t understand how this keeps happening! Posh Pets you need a way better system of at least reaching out to people and letting them know the status of the dogs they are trying to adopt as. It is a very emotional process!Sandy Giordano
After seeing many wonderful dogs on Posh Pets site; filling out an application, alerting veterinarians and friends to expect a phone call, I called Linda six times, without a single response. If youre going to share your web page with Adopt A Pet, the very least you can do is call back a perspective adoptee to tell them the dogs have been spoken for. So rude and ultimately unkind to get someones hopes up. Bad form, Linda.
I sent in one application. Never got an answer. Sent a question about that dog and basically got an automated answer, but then the dog was off the website so i presume adopted by someone else. Sent an email about a second dog. Again auto reply. Guess their attitude is you can wait for us.
Unbelievably rude, I had put my name in and when I draw 50 minutes to the place they refused me and my daughter the one lady I wish I had her name was extremely rude didnt see my key wanted any of the dogs to get adopted she would not let us in after all I had done like I said I wrote to them I had an appointment and she told me nobody was available when I saw someone else outside they said there was people inside so this woman was not only rude but a liar, We are still trying to figure out who owns this place so we can go above and beyond this woman

2022-04-27Absolutely disheartening. Was led on twice about adopting two different dogs. First dog we had an at home zoom meeting with Linda and took her a while to follow up. Went to a fundraiser event they had and all Linda said to us was “where is your husband we need your husband and walked away.” We went up to her asking about the dog and she basically said forget about that dog and showed us the rest of the dogs they had at the event. We fell in love with another dog and even met the foster mom who gave us her number to follow up about meeting him when the whole family is available. We followed up and she let us know what days that WEEK works best for her, the earliest day we could all meet him. We figured out a day and she never responded, we texted her again and no response, then called her, no response, and left a voicemail. Didn’t answer until later saying that dog was also adopted. Totally disappointed being led on and breaking our hearts twice. Probably a freakin scam. Linda is extremely rude not even in person but over emails she does not answer fast and when she does does not even take the time to make sense. Find a shelter or organization that takes the time to know you and help you find a dog that is best for you. Would not recommend to anyone, a big waste of your time and a terrible experience. So upset about this whole experience. Really a shame.

2020-08-16Such a great and loving rescue company. Came in here after seeing a pup on their website and called them that day to come in and see him. The staff there was so nice and you could really tell that they put all their love into the animals. I ended up adopting the pup that day and it was such a effortless and enjoyable process to bring him home. They provided plenty of resources and additional information to ensure housing the new pup was seamless.

2017-04-08I highly recommend looking at Posh Pets when considering adopting your next pet. We brought Ferguson home a week ago and could not be happier - He is the perfect addition to our family! Vanessa was extremely professional & incredible to work with. She was responsive, upfront with all of Ferguson’s medical history and concerns, and made the process extremely simple. I appreciate Posh Pets’ detailed vetting process to ensure that each animal is matched with the right family. This was a fantastic adoption experience!

2020-04-24This past Sunday we adopted Archie (formerly known as Chance) from Posh Pets. I can’t say enough good things about Linda and her staff and volunteers. They were wonderful and made the process of adopting our new boy smooth from beginning to end. Archie was neutered, microchipped and up to date on all his shots when we took him home and he is such a GREAT dog. We LOVE him already. I can’t thank Posh Pets enough for bringing this beautiful boy into our lives. UPDATE (April 2020) - What a great organization Posh Pets is! We just adopted a special boy named Brady who had to have surgery on both hips. Posh Pets took great care of this boy who surely would have been euthanized if not for Linda and Posh! Archie loves being a big brother and Brady is such a character. We LOVE our boys and can’t thank Linda and the good people at Posh Pets enough!

2022-04-27UPDATE: Does the disclaimer say that you wont respond for a year? And if you read my review, youd know we found a responsive rescue and couldnt be happier with the dog we got over a year ago.Im sorry to say they are not responsive to emails or phone calls. We tried to just visit a dog on their site. We submitted everything they asked for and have not heard anything back. Texted them, no answer. Called them, voicemail. Mind you, we have had very happy, very spoiled dogs for years. Why they would not communicate is beyond us. Wound up going to Peyton Rescue. Adopted a beautiful, friendly older pup (5 months). They were farther away, but they actually answered their emails and phone calls. We couldnt be happier. And neither could the dog that is currently taking my spot on the couch after hogging my bed last night. Like I said, spoiled dogs. 😉

2022-06-29Very slow to update Petfinder and their website with available pets. Contact is also slow and or non-existent unless pushed.
