United States Postal Service in other cities:
This is the worst Post Office ever !! The older man there( never got name ), needs to retire. Nasty , grouchy, and has no manners. Thinks its okay to be rude to people. There was another woman there ( did not catch her name either), who could not answer my questions. She did not know. These were 2 separate incidents, and YES....I did report the man. I went home and immediately called a much higher upper telling him how he treated me, and the other people in line. Avoid this PO at all cost.....if you can.
This review is for Ms. Thompson, who works at the 27th Street location. I had sent my taxes on april 11th. I had misread the postage machine and sent the envelope underpaid. It returned to my office with a bar code and a note saying Under paid. I brought it to the post office to Mr. Luis Colon, who gave me certain options to get my package to the IRS. He sent the envelope priority mail and put the priority mail sticker and barcode on. HOWEVER, he forgot to take off the old barcode that the post office used for regular mail. So, when it was sent to the sorting center they scanned the wrong barcode and my package was sent back to me as unpaid. It did not go out Priority mail, which is the service that I paid for.I came back to the post office to try to figure out what happened. I got the little alarm and yellow light and walked over to Ms. Thompsons booth. She pulled off the barcode sticker and then ran a black sharpie over the stamped barcode that made the mail go for a second time. I put it together in my head that Mr. Luis Colon, after he took my mail to look to see what happened, and then behind the postage counter glass render my priority service, forgot to pull off the old barcode, or fail to mention to me that it had to be removed. He slapped the priority sticker on behind the counter and threw it in the mail. How was I supposed to know the old barcodes had to be removed? I dont work at the post office - I wasnt preparing the priority mail to go out.So, I put all this together, and said, Ms. Thompson, this wasnt sent priority mail, is there anything you can do for me? She quickly looked at me, harshly, and said no. Sorry. But in one of those awful egoic ways, not a helpful customer service way. I tried to hash it out with her and explain what happened and she starting raising her voice PRIORITY MAIL IS GAURENTEED. She kept saying I wasnt listening to her as she continously raised her voice, pointed her finger at me, and told me I was being rude. I told her no you are not listening to me - this package was misstamped and I didnt get the service I paid for. She kept saying I wasnt listening to her and it wasnt gaurunteed. I wish I videod the interaction, because if any manager saw this behavoir it would surely lead to letting her go. She was rude, she didnt listen to what the actual problem was. It wasnt that the package isnt gaurnteed, it was that the package DIDNT EVEN GO OUT PRIORITY MAIL. How can it even be gaurenteed or not gaurenteed if it isnt even sent through the service that I paid for.I went home feeling walked on and treated poorly. I came back the next day, to try to point out the discrepency that she did not understand - it wasnt about not being gaurenteed, it was the fact that the services I paid for were not rendered. Her answer was Well it wasnt me who did it. Like really?? That is your answer. No appologies for not understanding the situation? Oops I got so mad but now finally realize the situation? I tried to say, it doesnt matter who sent it out, I didnt get what I paid for. Ms Thompson did Ms Thompson behavoir again, which was to say that she couldnt deal with this. She went back behind the counter and started helping other customers. She is the most childish, unbelievably riduculous worker I have ever met. It was embarassing how long it took her to actually listen and not just want to argue and fight and be rude to me. It seems to be extremely hard for her. She acts like a little girl who has not done any work in her life to listen to others, try to solve problems, and come to conclusions in a manner that represents your company and all those that work for it.She is embarassing and if I had any say in who was representing that company if I worked there, I would fire he immedietly.
I wish I could give the post office O stars. My post man was so incredibly rude and unwelcoming when I walked into the 27th street office with my wedding invitations to be hand cancelled. He told me he wished the stantionary companies would stop telling people that their letters need to hand stamped. When I assured him that this was not to make his life harder rather to preserve the integrity of the hand calligraphy that cost me well over $1,000, he laughed and told me that he doubts very highly that they will be ruined sending the invites the traditional way. When I told him I would be taking them else where to be handstamped he laughed and then screamed CONGRATULATIONS as I walked out the door. Very unprofessional and lazy.
I work nearby and sometimes drop my rent check off here. It takes far, far, far longer for the check to reach my landlord in midtown, far longer than dropping off at a blue post office box. The lines here are often long and the early closing time is also inconvenient. Avoid, if possible!
Zero Star If Possible ; CALLED TRYING TO MAKE ARRANGEMENTS FOR MY PASSPORT AS IT SAYS TO DO ONLINE. I SPOKE TO A GENTLEMAN NAMED “Mr. Rampsey” AS HE STATED ON THE PHONE. THIS GENTLEMAN REALLY NEEDS TO GET TRAINED ON HOW TO PROVIDE CUSTOMER SERVICE. I SIMPLY ASKED HIM WHAT WERE THE HOURS TO STOP BY TO GET MY PASSPORT PICTURE TAKEN THE NEXT DAY, & START MY PASSPORT PROCESS, HE COMPLETELY DISMISSED MY QUESTION (&IM ASSUMING SINCE IT WAS AROUND CLOSING TIME HE HAD NO INTEREST IN SPEAKING TO ANYONE OR ANSWERING MY QUESTION) HE DIRECTED ME TO A “CLOSED” BY POST OFFICE BECAUSE THEY “WERE UNABLE TO DO IT TODAY” I NEVER ASKED ABOUT COMING IN TODAY? I WAS LOOKING TO ARRANGE ANOTHER DAY SINCE I SAW ONLINE IT WAS CLOSED TO CLOSING TIME. “Mr. Rampsey” STARTED YELLING, RAISING HIS VOICE AT ME DIRECTING ME TO STILL ANOTHER LOCATION. I ADVISED HIM AGAIN, I WAS NOT LOOKING TO COME IN THAT DAY BUT THE NEXT. I DID NOT EXCUSE HIMSELF FROM THE PHONE AND JUST PLACED THE PHONE DOWN AND STARTED TALKING BAD ABOUT ME TO HIS OTHER WORK COLLEAGUES. HE STATED I WAS YELLING AND HE WAS GIVING ME OTHER SUGGESTIONS TRYING TO “HELP” ME BY DIRECTING MY TO ANOTHER LOCATION. I ASKED FOR A SUPERVISOR OR MANAGER ON DUTY AND HE STATED HE WAS THE MANAGER. I WAS VERY SURPRISED, AS I AM ACTUALLY A MANAGER MYSELF AND WOULD NEVER RAISE MY VOICE TO ANYBODY I ENCOUNTER AND DEAL WITH WHILE AT WORK. THIS GENTLEMAN REALLY NEEDS TRAINING. I TRIED TO EXPLAINING TO HIM IN A DIFFERENT WAY OF THE SERVICE I NEEDED AND I YELLED AND SAID “ MAM’ WE ARE BUSY AND I CAN NOT HELP YOU, YOU CAN GO TO THE OTHER LOCATION WHICH IS NOT SO FAR FROM HERE. WE ARE NOT DOING THAT TODAY” WHAAAAAT!? WHAT KIND OF SERVICE IS THIS. WHEN YOU ARE SUPPOSED TO “ IMPROVE YOUR CUSTOMERS EXPERIENCE” AS THIS IS ONE OF YOUR CORE VALUE.I CUSTOMER HAS BEEN LOST FOR THIS LOCATION FOR SURE.
Worst experience, extremely rude, I go up to the window and got a nasty look because the employee was busy texting on the phone, and then nothing was said like can i help you or hello just stone face waiting for me to say something, and every single question i asked was given with an attitude , awful customer service would never go again Id rather go out of my way and find good customer service then to go to this one because its more convenient I wouldnt even give a star is that were an option, lett the place annoyed

2022-06-16Massey has to be the most miserable person that works there. I just went in with a small box to mail out for Fathers Day. I had written the address and return address on the box as this woman has yelled at me in the past for bringing in packages without writing the address on them. When I gave her the box, she asked, where is the label supposed to go? I pointed to the many other sides of the box. She said it has to go on the same side as where the address is written. I said ok lets see what it looks like. Then she said shes not supposed to take the box if it doesnt have a full return address on it. It had my address but not my name. I said, OK will you accept this then or should I take it somewhere else. She said, you can do whatever you want. This location is convenient because its next to my work but I will not be going back.

2022-02-06Had the best experience here. Thought what I came in to do was going to be complex and irritating for both me and the staff but I lucked out with Neal (Neil?) and he made it such a seamless and smooth process! He’s a real professional and knows what he’s doing and knows how to make customers feel welcomed and at ease. I love the USPS!!!!!

2022-01-18WOW. Great customer service! Came here today and had one of the best experience ever! The lady at the window was extremely helpful, patient, fast and efficient! Despite there was line behind me and staff working very fast, I didn’t feel rushed.Thank you so much!

2022-04-12Had to mail something out after buying a box at City Papery. Only 1 self service machine and it was out of service. When I told the attendant he didn’t seem surprised. Was friendly but said I would have to write the address on the box . I said that was messy and he said I could purchase a label :-z I ended up walking to one on 34th street where both machines were also out of service

2021-11-19Wow, great experience at this Post Office. Service was fast, no lines, window clerk was very helpful and I didnt feel rushed. They also have self check for packages if you just want to weigh a large envelope and mail it in for those who dont want to wait on line.

2021-02-08Honestly I think they deserve no stars, the employees were very rude, disrespectful and nasty. They are very unhelpful. Ms.Thonpson denied processing my passport because she had to have the last word. Its no point of reporting this because it wouldnt make a difference, they will still keep their jobs. Something needs to be done with the customer service. I also started reading the other reviews from the past and Ms. Thompson poses a real problem. She doesnt deserve her job. She is really miserable and yells at people.

2021-01-12Always have good experiences here. I post internationally with really long addresses and the staff never grumble typing in the address. Sometimes the queues are a pain but the staff have always been super helpful

2017-05-04Its the worst experience I got ever. The clerk 08 refused to provide service because he did not want to manually type in international address, he said its too much work for me. I also strongly felt discrimination. I doubt if he will ever show this attitude to a customer if hes a white man.He even didnt care when I said I will report this, and told me to go ahead. In another aspect, it shows usps doesnt have a good complain system.
