United States Postal Service in other cities:
I’ve gone to this site quite a few times and have found the staff to be courteous. I usual go on a weekday. I’ve dealt with at least 4 different staff members and they were all kind , gave eye contact, and offered helpful information without attitude. I have a post office closer but because of the service, I started to come to the Ponton Street site. Keep up the good work!
Maybe I’ve just been lucky every single time I’ve come to this PO but I’ve never had a bad experience here. Knocked off a star because, hey it’s a gov’t-run facility and definitely not perfect. PO workers here are diligent and efficient if not being pleasant in addition. The pre-paid option now offered expedites wait time too so if you can, get a pre-paid label from home if shipping out items. Also, smiling and being polite goes a long way- it will be reciprocated by the service you receive here, and heck, maybe a smile back. :)
Every single time I order something here there is a problem. I have to oick my mail up out of town if I want to get it. They NEVER ring your doorbell, will sometimes not even get out of the truck and just say no access to delivery location. ITS A HOUSE. JUST WALK UP AND RING THE BELL. I get a redelivery notice EVERY SINGLE TIME. Today they attempted a redelivery without marking it as being out for delivery, came up and didnt ring my bell AGAIN and then left a notice. I have been home all day. You are the worst and it is a travesty that you receive government pay at all
This post office is the worst, they say , they tried to deliver when they didnt. When I call the 800 number they told me they tried to deliver when I was home all day and my package was at the Boston station . When I want there I had to want a long time because everyone was in the back. Then I was told that every thing purchased from Amazon as of the 5,6,7 will be delivered today. Now Im back home worried that I will be going on vacation tomorrow without a bathsuit. That place needs a new manager someone that can make sure theyre doing there job. While I was there another person came in with the same problem and ask for the manager by name thats how many times she has been there. Well I was there I never did see here come out. Once again they are the worse
Its hard to fathom just how terrible this post office is so Ill try to give some indication of the usual norm from them.1) They will not ring your bell for a delivery nor will they leave you a delivery slip that they attempted to deliver. It makes you wonder if they actually came by your residence in the first place to deliver anything.2) They invent excuses why they could not deliver even when the reason they cite does not even apply to your residence.3) They either forget about or flat out do not process redelivery requests.4) Visiting the post office results in a long line with one window open, several employees chatting, and a general apathy towards basic customer service. This post office and its staff are the best examples on why USPS needs the US government to survive. The lack of accountability and the lack of fulfilling basic job requirements truly exemplifies what these employees think about their job. In the eleven years Ive had service from this post office the last three have steadily declined to a point where its becoming a small miracle that I even get mail anymore.I encourage everyone who is serviced by this post office to please share your reviews on just how inept this post office is.
I got a text that my package was in my mailbox. Went to mailbox upon receiving text & it was empty. Personally went to Post Office the next day. Gave all my info & was told to expect a call from Delivery Person. This was appx. 3 or 4 months ago. Still waiting for call &/or package. Good thing I didnt hold my breath. It was a $20 package which Amazon reimbursed & is why I didnt pursue the issue. But I shouldve pursued it. I would never use them for packages. They are getting worse & worse.
I waited 1 hour and 15 minutes in line today to try to pick up a package that I had requested redelivery of online but they didnt send it out with the mail carrier. When I got to the window finally, the man was extremely rude and asked me to describe exactly what the package looked like. How am I expected to know this as the recipient and shouldnt the tracking number and the peach missed delivery slip be enough to find it? I did finally get my package, as well as two others that I had never received any kind of delivery notice or missed delivery notification for that had been sitting there for over a week.
I will never forget when me and my 2 kids spent over 3 hours in a line waiting for passport service. We were told only ONE person could service passports - guess when the other person could help out - when it was time for the post office to close. But what is really inconvenient on an ongoing basis is that they ignore redelivery requests. Then calling means letting the phone ring for sometimes 10 minutes till someone finally picks up, tons of confusion and hard time finding the package in question, and then maybe a redelivery.
This is the worst postal services assigned to me ever. They say they delivered the package and its not true. Is was in my home all they and never did I hear my door knocked . I never even got a sorry I missed you ticket . Their service is incredibly slow, staff is rude I wish I had another USPS assigned to me. I give them a 1 out of 10. Something needs to happen where everyone wins.
This is the worst post office I’ve ever been to. It’s dirty and unorganized. The employees rather socialize then help customers, even when there’s an incredibly long line. They’re unnecessarily rude, and the older heavy set Hispanic gentleman curses and snaps at customers. With the amount we pay in taxes in NYC, we deserve at least common courtesy and respect when we visit a public service office.
This the worst service that i have been able to handle both in the office and when they are going to deliver a package, when I have to wait for a package. I am stressed because I do not know if they will delivered , to me or they will stay with the package. several times they do not deliver the package they keeped. and u dont have no one to do the compliance because they covered . and the worst of all is that we pay for that service with our taxes.
They did not leave the package because I wasnt home, which is okay - reasonable, the package was international. I ordered redelivery. They were late for 3 days. I went to the post office, talked to a guy. He said he will contact me, but did not. The parcel was delivered the evening of the next day.
Uh wait theres no way we cant give them no stars? Most unprofessional place of business ever. The only person who Ive spoken to there that doesnt speak to people in a rude matter is my lovely carrier. The supervisors and window clerks are the rudest/nasties/classless people I ever communicated with in my life and I am tired of my packages not being delivered when someone is always home or being dropped off at one of my 32 neighbors homes and I have to play guess who? Because the delivery man doesnt leave a slip on my door or inside my mailbox to know who exactly has it. So yeah the post office doesnt even deserve 1 star.
If they have a package for you, you will most likely have to pick it up at the post office yourself. They will deliver your mail and leave you a “Sorry we missed you” slip at your door for your package if it doesn’t fit in your mailbox. Not even a knock or ring at the door bell. 😡 EVERYTIME. I get my things from UPS, FedEx and DHL without a problem. This post office on the other hand Can’t figure out how to use a door bell.
Absolutely terribly slow service! Theres only 1 or 2 windows open every time, while the line of like 15-20 customers, grows more and more. Theres always an employee standing by the door guiding people. Which we dont need... we need you behind a window so the line can move faster!!
Normally I HATE REVIEWERS AND REVIEWERS IN GENERAL BUT Ifigure I add my 2 cent. Every time I gone to the Ponton post office, staff have been nothing but kind too Me , found my with the speed of a Cheeta and I dont see any problems with them. I reliezed even instant coffee you MUST WAIT FOR THE WATER TO BOIL!!!! PONTON KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK NOT EVERYONE HATES YOU! A Gods honest customer.
I grew up in Pelham Bay and its the same thing over and over again with this Post Office. They literally dont want to do their job. Theres maybe ONE man who is helpful other than that they dont want to check on the status of your parcels, look your name up in the system NOTHINGGGGG! Its disgusting the entire staff needs to be replaced with people who WANT a job. Today i called BEFORE i went there to pick up my UNDELIVERED package, some woman stated it would be IMPOSSIBLE to check if they have my package without a tracking number....NOT TRUE ALL YOU NEED IS THE ADDRESS, FIRST AND LAST NAME!!! All she had to do was look the address up in the system to confirm who i was. I call back a man takes the info 20 seconds later he confirms my package is there. i told him i will be there in 1 hour. When i arrive i give my ID to the teller and i let him know i confirmed the package was here before i came. He asks who i spoke with and i tell him Im not sure i was just happy to hear my parcel wasnt lost. He then starts to complain to me about how i needed to ask for the name of the man i spoke to--it would apparently make HIS job easier--FIRST OF ALL WHAT DOES HIS NAME HAVE TO DO WITH MY PACKAGE? IS HE THE PERSON ITS ADDRESSED TO? NO! He complained about that for a few minutes claiming he wouldnt have to look for it if i knew before finally walking a few feet away and grabbing my package. APPARENTLY if i had provided a name of who i spoke to it would have helped him to find the box faster.....even though it wasnt where it was suppose to be in the first place. HOW IS IT MY JOB TO FIND MY PACKAGE FOR YOU?!!! YOURE THE POST MAN!!!!!!! YOU HAVE ONE JOB! He was nasty from the beginning to the end of the entire ordeal which took about 10 minutes (2 had he not opened his mouth). No matter what i said i was wrong because he had to take 2 minutes out of his life to look for a box WHICH IS HIS JOB ANYWAY. If you dont want to work go home ESPECIALLY when the place is empty!
Customer service at an all time low, people there are rude, they follow a script and dont understand what the terms they quote mean. any and everything they say doesnt necessarily mean what it sounds like. Example sending a package out for re delivery (after making corrections) means, they sent a request to the local post office, doesnt mean they will actually attempt a delivery of the package. total waste of time. and the survey they talk about while you are on eternal hold, never actually takes place, further proof that customer service is non existent at this scam for a business
If I can give 0 stars I would. This post office have nothing but rude workers. Men who are older then my father with disgusting attitudes. Young women who rather talk gossip then get to work. Im being polite cause what I really want to say I dont think they would approve of it since it will be mostly curse words!!
Poor customer service. I am trying to inquire about a package that the USPS delivery stated was an incorrect address. Person on other stated she waiting for system to move (its on 65%, what the hell is USPS still on dial-up). She told me I could wait. Ha!! Who the heck has the time to sit on the phone in order to be told b.s.I dont know how that is possible since Fedex and USPS delivered to my building on Friday. Now my package is sitting in limbo, sitting somewhere until it walks off by itself. I am filing a claim with the company who shipped and with USPS. I hate USPS.
I dont know why so many people have had bad experiences here. My only qualm is that they dont always deliver packages. Every time Ive gone to pick them up the staff was courteous. Ms. Pickins (please forgive if i spelled it wrong) who was out on the floor today 10/8/16 helping people was especially helpful and full of information. The young lady at the window was efficient and polite. I didnt get attitude from anyone except a rude customer that tried to interrupt my transaction w/ questions even though it was clear i wasnt through being helped. And its great she had questions but wait your turn!! 👿Sometimes you get what you give. If you read these negative reviews and go there w/ an attitude dont be surprised you get attitude.
If I could give zero or negative stars, I would. First off, I go there with a shipping label to return some textbooks I rented for school, the lady behind the counter tells me its for FedEx and they dont handle that. I say ok so do you know the nearest FedEx location? She replies no sorry. So I ask if anyone who works there can look up the nearest FedEx location from me since I did not have my phone with me. They refused to do so, and used the excuse that they cant be on their phones on the clock, which is understandable but shouldnt they be able to if its to help a customer? Anyway, so I go to Walgreens across the street and find out they have a FedEx station there, they tell me to get a box so I go back to the post office to buy a box. Anyway so I get there and its the same lady there. So I grab a box to go pay for it and she proceeds to tell me to fill out the from and to address on the box, and then come back to her. So I do that, and go back on the line. She tells me the total will come out to $12 something and thats the better deal since if I just got the box I would also need to buy tape and other stuff so I figured ok Ill go with the better deal. Long story short, after I packaged the box (a different employee is helping me at this point) he tells me ok your all set after I paid the $12 and keeps my box. And Im like, wait a minute, I need the package back since Im mailing it with FedEx. He goes no we will mail it. And Im like, I was told by her to go to FedEx because it says FedEx on my shipping label. And he goes well if you want to go ship it with FedEx then all you have to do is buy a box for $3 and ship it with FedEx with the return label for free. So Im like wow, this lady was telling me all this other stuff. Anyway, so they sell me a box for $3 when I only needed a box half the size of the box they sold me so it was too big but I realized that after I was already in Walgreens and the post office was closed by then. However they failed to mention other box sizes, they made it seem like the size I got was the only option. 😡 This is by far the worst post office Ive ever been to. My gosh if I had another post office to choose at the moment I went there I wouldve. But it was the closest one who was open by that time. They had 1.8 stars before me writing this review.
If I could give 0 starts i would! This place is horrible... The supervisor Ms. Watts is rude! She just told me to excuse the new girl for not delivering my package because she is new... Meanwhile 3 weeks ago when this same thing happened Ms. Hernadez said the same thing! How if she still just hired now and three weeks ago? We dont get our mail... we dont get our packages and whenever there is a problem we are told to figure it out ourselves.... Ms. Watts just told me that she cant call the carrier to find our package because the carrier uses her own personal cell and they are not allowed to call her on that and to add to it... she doesnt have her number! This place is a joke! SHUT IT DOWN OR FIRE ALL THE PEOPLE AND START FRESH!
Ugh. That about sums up the service at this post office. Worst Ive ever had to deal with across 15 or so states. Please fire everybody and hire capable staff who will actually serve the customers in the line out the door rather than yapping about so-and-sos latest idiocy for thirty minutes. Please get new drivers who actually knock and/or ring bells as needed to access apartment buildings. This is mail delivery in NYC. Not rocket science. If you are too stupid to ring a clearly marked doorbell, Im surprised you are still breathing, because that may be a more complicated process than RINGING A FREAKING DOORBELL.
Im not even complaining about my own typically poor service. I am a doctor in the area, and I witnessed a blind patient yelled at while she attempted to get assistance. The mail officer didnt allow her a chance to explain her disability, and had the person behind her come forward. The woman left upset.
I dont know if this post office is understaffed or everyone there is just plain lazy. Every time I go in the line piles up and there is only two windows open: The passport and a regular line.Today there is only the passport line and someone is in the back doing only God knows what. Theres no reason I have to wait 10 minutes just to ask a question
On 1/9/17 whoever the young lady was that was working at the end of the day, very bad representation of the usps. Very unfriendly , came across as extremely annoyed because I came at the end of the day when they were closing Im guessing , and had an attitude with me for our entire encounter. My advice, if you can, Next time just pay the extra money and have ups or FedEx deliver your packages. ✌️
Requested redelivery of package twice, both no shows for scheduled dates. When you call, they put you on hold for 10 minutes and then hang up without anyone offering help. When you ask for a supervisor, they leave the phone off the hook. I have filed a claim. Terrible way to treat people.
GO HERE IF YOU WANT TO SEE HOW LOW CLASS AND UNPROFESSIONAL MANAGEMENT AND STAFF CAN BE. FORGET CALLING, THEY WILL TREAT YOU LIKE A SYRIAN REFUGEE!MANAGEMENT SHOULD BE REPLACED WITH ROBOTS. NO WONDER USPS IS GETTING ALL THEIR BUDGET CUT. THEY SHOULD BURN THIS PLACE!At 9:51am, 1/23/16, I contacted the post office and a woman answered the phone. I asked are you open and she said we are closing in one bour. I asked ok, so that means you are open or closed now. She said, we are not open to the public. I said ok. Does that mean that packages resent back to the sender will be extended because I have not been able to pick up a package in about 2 weeks and I need to pick it up asap. she said I guess so. I said I dont know if you mean yes or no. She said I have more important things to worry about like getting my drivers home safe. I asked her name and she hung up. I called again and she hung up.This woman is nasty and rude. I think she should get a write up over mistreating a customer and being demeaning. I felt very disrespected. I have managed before and if one of my staff would have addressed a customer in this manner, they would be FIRED immediately. This is completely unacceptable and disgusting behavior. It really gives Bronx business a bad name and lives up to the Bronx stereo type of lack of class, rudeness, lack of courtesy and unprofessionalism.
Very unprofessional. Had an appointment there and was told that the person is on lunch break. I came 15mn early and I had to wait past my appointment to another 20mn. It’s like they don’t want to help you. Their tone and attitude is worse. I don’t usually write reviews but they need to do something about the customer service representative in this location. Horrible!!
Plenty of things could be improved.Ive had a p.o box with then for about a year now: Ive had late packages, some soso service and some rude service, some forgetful service, and an opened package once followed by a silly excuse. Mostly incompetant, Ive only either been okay with or enjoyed the service of about 2 employees there. if not for them id have rated half star. I need the p.o there but What to do.... -.-
I left work so I can come and take care of my passport and the office closed over an hour early because she needed to go. The employees are very rude every time I go there. This is my third attempt with the passport and its ALWAYS an issue as to why I cant do it because the employees are unhelpful and very unprofessional
I totally understand that postal employees have alot to deal with. Tough job. Not the most physically or mentally taxing job, but dealing with problem clients daily while fighting deadlines can wear you down. That being said, this location cant seem to staff their counters with people who can maintain their PMA (positive mental attitude). Ive been here 3 times. Try my hardest to avoid a 4th visit.
There is a lady here with very short hair that is both rude and unprofessional in her dealings with the public, who she is there to serve. There are many people out of work right now and if this lady wants to be unprofessional, then maybe she can be replaced by someone who wants to work and knows how to be professional and courteous to the customers.
This post office is terrible service, very rude manager, she cancelled my appointment by calling me when I stay online in the post office, they sent an email to me last night to remind me come 10 minutes before, and I have been waiting for this appointment for one monyh.
If there was a zero star option, I would’ve choosen it! My express package is two days late & I’m calling my local post office over & over! No one is picking up, the phone is literally ringing out! Post office needs to be done away with, the whole system is broken! DISGRACEFUL!
The USPS is the most horrible system to date. You cant get in touch with anyone at this location. The system doesnt allow you to speak to anyone. IT NEEDS TO BE SHUT DOWN!!!!!!! The packages are never delivered to the correct address and they do not take ownership of the stolen packages.... This place is a NIGHTMARE!
They should not be allowed to receive a quarter of a star.. By far THE WORST UNPROFESSIONAL PEOPLE YOU WILL EVER COME ACROSS. They delivered destroyed packages. They literally throw your mail. Its just downright disgusting. I am looking into someone investigating this location. It should be CLOSED!!!!
The staff here are rude, unprofessional, and are not helpful at all. I came here and asked a simple question about money orders and the heavyset man behind the window proceeded to berate me. Opt for another USPS location (i.e Morris Park or Parkchester) and don’t bother coming here at all!
Im tired of getting to a place and its closed. It clearly says its open at 8am. Nope it open at 9am. So annoying... then they open the doors and no one is at the front. Im so tired of dealing with the Post Office and their poor customer services and unprofessional environment.
Went for a passport, the window opens at 10am, have all your stuff ready (pre fillout and print the app on the .gov website) dont forget photocopies of your id or license like i did. Even after having to leave for copies i was done by 1015am. Woman behind the window was pleasant considering what she must put up with on a daily basis. Parking around the area is horrible though, But thats nothing new for Westchester square.
Went to make money orders one time and the ladies was on her Bluetooth talking on her phone ....she counted my money twice and said you are short $100 if I was some push over I would have it to her......since Im not I had to count it out for her and pass it back to her in incraments she can understand took her 2 more trys after that..... she finally got it.....it just goes to show you job security is laid back there give the people who need that job and you see the diffrence night and day....
Reach somebody by phone is impossible the worst experience Ive ever had with an automated system its amazing how bad it is but it figures Im not sure if its still a government entity but it is the post Office again a horrible experience I wish they had something less than one star like zero
I witnessed today an incident in which the clerk attending the Passports didnt manage properly the situation with a customer. He could have de-escalated the situation when dealing with someone that have a mental condition, his nurse was trying to calming him down. This clerk compromise everyone including his coworkers for a situation that all it needed was empathy and understanding. At the end got resolved...not because the customer was lacking to present the documentation requested (temporary dmv id, with no picture) is because clerk decided not to accept the temporary dmv doc because didnt have a picture id, when earlier he same one suggested the client to go to DMV (nearby) and get a proper id.

2022-06-04Early in the day when I purchased stamps, there were three people asking for the Passport processing person and rather than help them, the clerk asked what time it was. The Passport office was supposed to be open for an hour already and it was still closed. Then, this afternoon, there were several people in line at this post office today with 40 minutes left in their posted hours. Both clerks refused to help customers saying that mailing letters was too much work. That they would require us to make appointments to mail things and that the requests were too hard to do. Unbelievable! This is the worst post office.

2022-04-09At this location, Employees are rude and don’t care. On the first attempt, I was not home to sign for my package. I scheduled for it to be redelivered for the next day. They didn’t try to redelivered my package until 4 days later. After missing two attempts to deliver my package. I called for them to leave my package at the post office so I can pick it up. The next day, when I went to pick it up they could not find my package and said it might still be on the truck. This is the worst location ever.

2021-08-30Safe place to do your mailing needs... sometimes the line is long... sometimes not.Im sorry I was posting photos of two new restaurants that open in Westchester square and something went wrong and the photos look like I was posting pictures of the post office when clearly you can see these are the pictures of the restaurants and I didnt know how to take the pictures away from the post office.

2020-01-09This post office is poorly managed, poorly run and the workers are incapable of doing their job. Many times I have gotten packages delivered that converted from UPS to USPS. The postal workers cant fit a box into my mailbox, so instead of buzzing my apartment or leaving it outside, they take it back. Its extremely frustrating when you have to call them and all you get is attitude. Apparently it is not their obligation to bring a package to the door. If that is the case, then why do you allow UPS packages to be converted to you? This office needs a new make over new staff new management. Dont ever get something delivered to your house if this is your post office. Trust me. 0 stars.

2018-07-02This post office is usually crowded and slow. This office has about 7 windows and usually only 3 of them are open. This office also prints passports for people so 1 of those 3 windows isnt even used for packages. One time, I got to a window, told the lady what service I wanted and where the package was going. She noticed that I didnt have an address on it. I asked if she could print out a label with the shipping address and the return address. She said no. I asked if she could just print me a label and if I could take it home and just write the address and add the label on. She said no. So I waited all that time online just to get nothing.Another time I printed my label and shipping ahead of time at home. I went to a window just to drop it off (since it already has a label and addresses on it.) The person said I cant just drop off a package and skip the line. I told the guy that since I already had postage and address on the box I could drop it off (which is common practice in USPS post offices.) He said alright FINE!The only good thing that has happened in this post office is one time they let me pick up a package early (at 8:30 am.) That time, I was walking past the post office on my way to work and noticed it was open. I walked inside and waited online. The guy said what can I help you with. I said I need to pickup a package. He got the package for me and said that usually the store opens at 9am, but Ill help you out. Thats why this post office gets a 2 star instead on 1 star.

2020-06-03I understand a pandemic is happening and things may take more time. I have no problem with that, my problem is that this is the second time Ive ordered something and USPS lies saying nobody was there to get the package when Ive literally went downstairs to get it and nobody was there. Im starting to believe they just ring the doorbell and leave because for them to have said that at 4:08pm they left a note when no note was left and due to nobody being there is a lie. I am tired of having them say the same excuse.
