DON’T GET FIREWOOD HERE!!!Thought I would take a chance. Boy, was I sorry! I asked for 45 pieces of dry seasoned wood for $65. I asked the cashier if it was seasoned and she assured me it was. Unfortunately I didn’t have my moisture meter with me so took their word for it, b/c who would lie about something like that. Got the wood home and sure enough...39% moisture. What?!Don’t waste your money here.
Great place for vegetable starts, ornamental plants, and good selection of bagged compost etc. I ordered a really nice mix of topsoil, compost and manure delivered - tomatoes were very happy in the raised beds it went into. Delivery price was high, but typical for the service and distance. Not a complaint, just a heads up!
I ordered 25 yards of their “gardener’s delight” soil for my raised beds. Total rip-off. What I was told on the phone was that this was an even mix of 1/3 organic compost, 1/3 peat moss and 1/3 top soil. The soil is anything but that. According to my nutrition tests, it severely lacks nutrients (especially nitrogen and potassium), which if it truly had compost, would not be so. The ph is at a 7.6 and WAY too high. It’s also full of rocks and gets that hard crusty top that soil without fluffy matter (like peat moss) would normally keep soft. I was sold top soil disguised as a high quality blend, thinking I wouldn’t know the difference. I am an educated and experienced consumer, Prianti - I know. The only upside is that their delivery driver was super nice and helpful. He probably didn’t know he was delivering faulty product. Gardener’s Delight is not so delightful
A year ago I ordered three yards of their Gardeners Mix (Topsoil, Compost, Manure, and Sweet Peet). Sweet Peet is an organic mulch product, said to lower soil pH. I was told the Gardeners Mix is great for the home gardener. After some scheduling issues (the office and drivers apparently work from different schedules, as I was told there were no drivers scheduled for deliveries on my original date), they were able to deliver soil to me. They dumped in the driveway, where I requested. The driver was good about navigating under the low utility lines in my neighborhood. The staff I dealt with at the office, the dispatcher, and the driver were all great to deal with. So, let me talk about what I received. The soil has a tendency to clump into rock hard balls. So Im curious as to the ratios they use in the mix, as both the compost and mulch should limit the clumping. It appeared to be mostly topsoil. Its not very well screened, if at all. Im posting some photos of items if screened out of their mix. I started screening each wheelbarrow full after I started noticing large shards of window pane glass in the soil. Fortunately, I have yet to be cut by any glass, even though Im still finding glass whenever I work the soil. Ive found keys, a marker, bricks, pane glass, auto parts, and large sticks in their mix.The soil worked very well with leafy greens only. Root vegetables had a tough time, as did any fruiting veggies (peppers and tomatoes). I attribute this to the high nitrogen content, and lower phosphorus content. Perhaps itll be better this year, now that its had a year of crops to use up some of the nitrogen. Ill be topdressing with compost this year. Oh, the pH tested right around 6.5 - 7, which is fine, but Id prefer closer to 6, for property nutrient uptake. It was also the first year Ive had an aphid problem, but the weather could have also contributed to that. Weeds were not an issue in this soil last summer, which is nice.If I were to buy soil from Prianti again, Id probably only buy compost. Id find a second and third source of compost. Id buy peat moss or coco coir from a local big box, then add vermiculite to create my own mix.
Amazing place. The staffs are nice and super friendly.the collection of plants are noteworthy. I started going there after ordering my mulch and top soil which was amazing same day delivery. The plant collection especially the shrubs and evergreens, foundation plats or signature plants, hedges are pretty good. The delivery options are available too. One a positive note i wish they can improve on Wigelias Ninebarks smokebush deutzia crape Myrtle Vibernums Acubas and these kind colorful plants. The are lots of herbs and vegetables to chose from. Border plants succulents shade plants grasses annuals indoor plants are noteworthy.Im a repeat frequent customer for many years.Sometimes i go there just to see plants. Thanks for nice collections.
We are quite delighted with our firewood from Prianti Farms! On the few days so far this year that were chilly enough for a fire, we found the wood from the cord we had delivered last month to light quickly and easily, and it provided long-burning, nice crackly fires. Were actually looking forward to long, cold winter evenings since theres nothing more cozy than a nice fire in the fireplace. I have a friend who heats her entire home with firewood from Priantis, and she raves about their wood, too. Plus, the staff is really friendly and helpful.By the way, have you been by to see the neat log cabin they built out in front of the business, entirely from firewood? Its something to see & worth taking the kids by to see it!
Friendly, courteous, knowledgeable staff & management always at Prianti Farms. A weekend trip with the kids to stock up on colorful, healthy flowers or to add to our vegetable garden is a treat for me and my kids--and they love to visit the bunnies and chickens. Or sometimes I treat myself to a weekday visit while the kids are in school and simply wander through the plants to plan my next gardening move. Ive never had a problem with any plants or trees Ive purchased there, and my husband insists they are the only place to go for smoke-free, non-smolder firewood. Plus, Im really glad they expanded their yard because parking and access on and off the road is much easier.
I purchased 7 yards of fine topsoil, I ended up with about 5. but that not all after speaking to a worker over the phone, he simply said theres no way they would take another trip for 2 yards (mine you I payed for the delivery).I decided to give them another chance by actually passing by purchasing a plant that was suppose to de a fraction of the price since it was last years crop. 2 dollar discount is what I got for a plant that at the moment looks dead. Im waiting on the weather to improve, maybe that will bring it back.Back to the soil, after spreading the soil throughout my backyard , ive found pieces of glass all over the place. The two stars are for a worker whom should my wife around the facilities, he was extremely knowledgable of the plants etc.I would not recommend this establishment, there are far better ones.
Ive been getting firewood delivered from Prianti for many years, never had a problem. This year the firewood was a bit damp due to the excessive weather and heavy snow, but the wood is seasoned and does burn with a bit of creative and skillful log placement, use of bellows, and cutting the wood into smaller pieces. Thanks to Prianti for being responsive to my concerns and providing me with a bit more drier wood to assist me in getting those fires burning, you guys are the best!
I really do love this place. I buy a lot from here. It’s also a nice way to treat myself when I just want to clear my mind and browse. You can see chickens and ducks just squatting around and there is just something so serene about the layout. Yes, it’s on a busy road but when you walk among the plants you forget the world around you.
My husband and I always come to Prianti and its worth the drive. The owner recognizes us every time we are there. Also the owner is a very kind person. Everyone should come here during the summer, its just beautiful with the flowers, the rooster running around, the bunnies that he sells as well.
Have had wood delivery twice to Roslyn NY. The wood was so wet that after a year it still had trouble burning. They store the cheaper wood outside under no cover and still charge over 200 for a half chord. The kiln dried wood is ridiculously expensive at $400 a half chord. There are better places with cheaper wood of higher quality.
Just got a face cord of wood delivered last week. Their advertisement said it was seasoned and all i got is wet wood that doesnt come close to burning. Now im stuck with a face cord of unseason wet wood. Very disappointing and I will never use Prianti Farms again. Please do not use them and order somewhere else.
I called to have mulch delivered and was given a 8-12pm delivery window which is reasonable. Now past 2pm, 4+ phone calls later, no return updates and no mulch. Most of the day wasted, the help I paid for was wasted. If I got a call saying there was going to be a delay then I wouldve understood that things happen. But, every call was it will be there soon.....
Order 10 yards of BLACK mulch, delivered on Friday rained on Saturday, as I watched the dye run down my driveway and leaving the beds with wood chip brown-ish/ blawww mulch....cant be anything but extremely disappointed.... maybe dyed mulch should have a cure time before delivering it!!!$$$ not worth it!!!!
I went there last week to get an estimate on some landscaping I wanted done in the backyard. I needed a couple of Laurels, lots of topsoil and some small plants.I met with Joe and he suggested he should come by to make sure of my needs. We arranged for him to come by the next morning between 8:30 and 9am. He never showed up or called. The next day a woman from their office called because I had signed into their book requesting help.I asked if Joe was still alive and told her what transpired. Never heard back from anyone at Prianti. Not a good way to run a business!
Ordered mulch to be delivered on a Saturday so I could be home to show where to dump. They showed up on Thursday, no one home, didn’t call & dumped in driveway blocking use. Owner blamed one of his staff offered refund on delivery but said wouldn’t do anything about the material location.

2018-11-19We have been getting wood from Prianti for years and never had a problem. Always the same nice guy delivering and stacking the wood. The wood burns like crazy - and I do know what I am talking about because for years when I was younger, we cut and split our own firewood at my parents’ house in upstate NY.We just got another delivery a week or so ago and as I type this, It is burning just fine...

2020-05-20I can’t say enough about Prianti. They’re the only nursery that I’ll buy my trees and shrubs from. Very knowledgeable staff from the owner down to the helpers. They stand behind their product 100%. I had an issue with a tree purchased last fall. It didn’t fully bloom in the spring. I mentioned it to the owner and without any prompting, he replaced it at no cost. The tree not blooming could’ve been my fault or an act of God, but the owner never questioned or insinuated. He was as nice as could be. Every other tree and shrub I’ve purchased there (over 30 of them) have turned out great. Great variety too
