Price Chopper in other cities:
Carries Daiya gluten, dairy, and soy-free pizza, and Canyon River Bakehouse bread, but sometimes are out. Do not carry Daiya brand non-dairy products; for these you have to go into Broome County. They sometimes have another brand but it isnt worth buying. There is a shelving area for gluten-free products which covers some of the basics. They do have Good Planet cheese slices (American and Cheddar) which are vegan, gluten, dairy, and soy free, but not as good as Daiya.
I love Price Chopper! I actually never knew the store existed until I moved up to New York. For a small town, I can say they offer an excellent produce section with unique options such as poblano peppers and tomatillos (green tomatoes), great for making homemade green enchilada sauce. As well as, escarole, which is most commonly used in Italian Wedding Soup; as far as I know... Their Deli and Meat department(s) are also great! The Deli Counter staff are always really nice/accommodating, and they offer fresh baked bread daily, but better yet, they have Tabouli (a parsley based Italian/Mediterranean dip)!! Moving on, the Meat Department is great as well. I have yet to order specialty cuts, but the prices off the shelves are really great especially for pork, ground beef, bone-in chicken breast, and various cuts of steak. They also carry liver, lamb, veal... And, corned beef in March and spiral ham in Autumn-Winter time. When it comes to the seafood department, I havent ever ordered anything specific, but when I pass by... they are always cleaning their machines and also super friendly, once I even got to see them fry fresh fish for a hot grocery sale item. Plus, I was totally shocked when I saw that they carried Nova (smoked salmon). I thought that was just a Florida thing, but it stays fresh and stocked all year round. In addition to the normal aisles; such as cleaning, frozen, dry grocer... The Owego Price Chopper stays clean and stocked, especially throughout the pandemic. I am even more impressed that they have an Asian, Latin, Kosher, and Gluten-Free section; all of which carry a very rounded selection. Only thing I would point out is they dont sell wine in their beer and mixed drink section, but I heard thats just a NY law and permit issue. Ive probably gone on long enough, but they also have a great pet department with cute toys, natural dog bones, and holistic dog/cat food, as well as fresh pet food from the refrigerator. Floral always has an affordable and wide variety of flowers and plant options. Sometimes they even have potted succulents for as low as $2.99. Outdoors they also carry Mums, Gerber Daisies, Christmas Trees, Pumpkin/Jack-O-Lanterns varying by season. I have even gotten personal home garden advice from one of the nice ladies, so I would say theyre very confident and resourceful. I myself have never used Food Stamps(EBT) or WIC at this location, but I know that they accept both payment options as well as chip and Apple pay. They have check cashing and lottery at the Customer Service desk, and even updated their self-checkout system. They also provide Instacart shopping (with special parking spots for pickup) which has really boomed since the virus hit... All in all, they are a wonderful shopping option, especially for a small area. I think I made it pretty clear I love shopping here. I hope my review helps future shoppers with whatever questions they may have, but more over, highlights positivity to the workers and staff who provide excellent customer service and accountability.
At 10:05 p.m. last night we arrived at the checkout line with a cart full of groceries, seafood, etc. planning to come home to make a very lovely dinner. Much to my shock and surprise, I quickly discovered that every checkout line was closed. No alternative but to use the self-checkout which I absolutely refuse to do. Everytime you walk through a self-checkout, you put someone out of work. To add insult to injury, the one clerk that was there was helping people in the self-checkout, putting himself out of a job at some point. Perhaps Im oversensitive because that was one of the first jobs I ever had, I paid my rent and put food on my table. I was young, and had no experience to do anything else. I was and continue to be very grateful for that job. Throughout the years, I have seen many young people start their lives as grocery store clerks. I was alarmed, disappointed, and angry. I am ashamed to say that I did not behave very well around it, again, I was shocked and confused. I left my entire grocery cart and walked out. I will never shop at Price Chopper again and I intend to share my story with anyone who will listen. I may add that the customer service desk was closed also, so there wasnt even any one there to share my customer complaint with. So much for customer service. Today I went to Wegmans and bought everything I needed. Goodbye Price Chopper, hello Wegmans.
Price Chopper always has nice fresh vegetables and fruits. They have nice cuts of meat too and they are always fresh and appealing to me. The store is clean and the prices are good. They often have deals on some products like a buy 1 and get 2 free or a BOGO.The staff is always nice and friendly and the whole shopping experience at the Price Chopper is always a good one.
Pretty decent prices, gas rewards, and they tend to have other good reward promos. Their produce selection is usually really good, as is their meat department. Really nothing to complain about other than sometimes on the weekends the lines can get pretty long and there isnt always a lot of lanes open! No waiting in line tonight though on a Friday night round 5:30, and the cashiers are always friendly!
Its the only big grocery store that I know of in this beautiful, quaint, and cozy town. All the employees seem very friendly and helpful. There is ample parking. There are a few other little stores and little restaurants in this strip plaza. Right across the street is a fairly large park. So, far I have enjoyed shopping here. Prices are not too bad either.
Store is huge. I think it has everything food wize u can possibly think of and more. I stopped and bought a fish dinner. Everything was good except my fish had an edge that was to hard for me to eat. Sometimes I find there prices higher then they should be. I would have given them 4 stars but my cashier was a little slow and the store wasnt as clean as it usually is. Plenty of room to park if u have a good size truck.
Prices are usually more expensive— even with the store brand. The meat selection is poor, and usually you can’t get your money’s worth. Especially if you have a lot to get/people to feed... Grab-n-go at the deli is handy though! Dairy stockers are usually right on the ball as well... Overall it’s okay— but only if you can’t make it to Walmart or Wegmans... then again, at least it’s not Tops! Also, watch the prices, because at least 3 times a month I will have a time when items won’t ring up as their sale prices, and the cashiers couldn’t care less when you ask about it
Long lines, slow service and most departments are mediocre.Sorry, Price Chopper has plenty of nice stores, this isnt one. Used to live near Albany and they were much better managed. Not sure if it the distance from the main office or lack of competition. You will do better frequenting several local stores and only shop the deals at this store.
Its the best Ive been able to do in the southern tier of New York. However coming from the capital region Im accustomed to the stores being run a little better and the staff being a little sharper. Its much nicer than the Barre VT store, but further evidence of the sliding scale of what is an acceptable standard in the chain.Bottom line, if youre like me and Price Chopper is a part of the home youre away from its absolutely wonderful to have.
Everyone is always extremely helpful!!! Especially in the Fresh Seafood Department. The manager as well as one of the associates, Nate are always extremely helpful, knowledgeable about the products, the department is always spotless and is fully stocked and rotated. They have a variety of fish that most stores usually dont carry year round, and they also will prepare your fish for you upon request. Im unsure if this is the case for all fresh fish, but regardless, everything Ive tried so far has been top notch and I wont shop at any other seafood department.Plus you really cant beat the bakerys cannolis and the Napoleons are addicting,!! Then in the snack department, the buy one get one free donut sale has had me hooked! Im not sad to say the sales been going on for a while, its almost as though they want me to get fat. And I am okay with that!
I shop at the Owego location. When I was there on Saturday there was a person walking through without a mask. I complained. I shop there because I thought they were strick about keeping the customers and staff safe. If Price Chopper in Owego does not enforce this NY state mandate, I will not shop there. Wearing a mask is the most simple thing we can do to stay healthy in a public space.
The staff is nice and willing to help you find anything. The aisles are clearly labelled, with many products to offer, although it can get quite difficult to find something due to label similarities, and how theyre organized. This isnt intentional, at least not on their part. There is a bakery, as well as meat and seafood departments. There is also a deli that offers pre-prepared meals, pizza, subs, and wraps with a small sitting area toward the back. Most can be heated in store, but are more meant to be taken home. The store is open 24 hours, only closing on major holidays and emergencies. However, the best time to go is still during the day as youre more likely to find shorter lines, and more registers open. Whereas at night there will be only one register open. The majority of people in the area have jobs that require later hours, and there are nights where you can be standing in line for 20 minutes or more. This is after 9pm, usually. Rarely do the other staff in store come to help the cashier, as most are stocking shelves, even though a few can act as cashiers. One issue is that they tend to be on the expensive side despite offering a discount card, daily deals, and trying to beat competitor prices. However, if they do run out of something, they allow you place a raincheck. They take down your information, and will let you know when it comes back in stock, and for the price, or offer, at the time the raincheck was requested. Even if it takes several months.
I was so disappointed with your produce selection today. What you had today was excellent quality but your selection was much more limited than in the past. I also like to spice up my cooking with Asiasian flavors and other was no Ponzo, fish sauce or Hoisan. I usually am very satisfied with what you have . Competition must be hard. I Did order 2 large PC cured beef briscuts today. They are the best.
This price chopper here in owego has gone down hill and the workers are not friendly the managers for the front end like to stand around and talk and be on cell phones while working and very rude to customers maybe better business bureau needs to.be informed of this situation going on here at this location

2022-05-04This store is in Owego, NY. Its a place where the people who live in the towns around it will rather go there because its closer, The prices are good and they have almost anything youre looking for, its a quiet and clean place, the workers are nice and helpful, they have a section of fresh different kinds of meats and seafood too.Why someone will drive farther to Vestal or Ithaca when he can find stuff and food and some of them are cheaper than other stores unless someone likes to shop from different stores 🤔👀🙂👌

2022-03-04Clean, lots of options and nice variety. Reasonable in price. Awesome deals if you look. Milk is cheaper than Walmart and convenient stores. Friendly staff.

2022-04-14Clean. Friendly staff. Drawbacks: a bit pricey; meat specials tend to be snapped up fast; getting to be a big job accessing specials...e coupons have to be activated online; other specials at an in-store kiosk that prints paper coupons. No longer give a raincheck for out of stock items, stating covid/ supply chain issues.

2022-03-26Good groceries for most part but customers who looked confused about what they are looking for usually get only 1/10th of hospitality and politeness. That to me is not ok.

2022-05-02I like price chopper in any case, their stores are well maintained and I always feel comfortable visiting another one.

2022-04-11Clean but pretty pricey like every store in the area. Probably because they dont have anyone like Walmart or Aldi as competition.

2021-12-11This is the only grocery store I patronize. They have everything I need, year round - no need to go anywhere else, except maybe Wegmans for specialty gourmet stuff on occasion.Update: I had a TERRIBLE experience with the night supervisor, Mike C...he was completely rude to me, would not let me finish my transaction in the Coinstar machine, which was jammed, and I tried to enlist his help but he wouldnt come near me except to tell me tg he store was closed, 5 minutes before closing time. I asked if I could purchase ONE item !and was told no. I asked if he would cash in my change, which was rolled up and labeled, since the machine wasnt working, and was rudely told no. I asked why he was being rude and he just said he wasnt being rude. He wasnt going to cash in the Coinstar reciept after I asked why he was being rude, until I pointed out that customers had to cash in the reciept upon receiving it from the machine....he then threw my money at me! Ive never been so offended. Now when I go in ther ed when hes working he makes me feel uncomfortable and I avoid his register at all costs.

2022-05-23I was in town on other business and stopped at Price Chopper for a few items and saved $25.23 with my rewards card.
