Well location was great for me since I was parked in front (I know thats cheating). I am not sure what bean they are using for my macchiato but it was very good. The taste was not too strong but not light, just right at medium. The customer service was quick and polite. Small but a good use of the space with window seating. Check it out.
BE AWARE 😤😡The barista with colored hair sings “ loud “ and dances and doesn’t notice clients at the counter:-( bathroom needs cleaning recommend a 30 min schedule. Drip coffee is weak and they have no milk or cream condiments for self service :-( Is give it 1 star but I gave 2 because there are a couple people that care there like the Mgr and the 2 girls that work there. Also bagels and pastries are not fresh items not sold the day of get refrigerated and sold for the same fresh price :-(Jan 25/19 Doors are wide open and very cold inside the store. After asking to consider closing the door the employee with the colored hair said it was too hot behind the counter and the door is to remain open. When I said to consider the clients inside dressed in heavy jackets he said it’s to hot behind the counter :-(Then I asked to purchase a soup and to keep it refrigerated until I was ready to go and he refused my request. Now 30 min before closing I purchased the soup and was told that there is NO bread to-go unless I eat it here!!!! That’s messed up because I usually get bread every day when I buy the soup so now I’m suggesting “discrimination “... not good!!
Home of the dirty chai with macadamia milk... hot.. omgx100 this place is super duper clean and nice . The staff are always super nice... located on the avenue inside of a brownstone type building . Just a few steps off the ground floor aside from all the delicious coffee and tea options.. theyvalso have muffins..lots and lots of muffins ..vegan selections as well. The morning glory is incredible.. I had a almond crossaint . Needless to say you will have it once and love it and have more..literally the proof in the cup..
What a find. The coffee is pricy but a journey well worth talking. Get a bag of beans (they can grind them for you) then aeropress or pour over at home. The roasting style is more restrained than some better known merchants and you can really appreciate the flavors. I chose Tanzanian Peaberry. I couldnt believe I made the cup. So complex and beautiful. Just wow.
Just stopped by here and had a cold brew with oat milk and it was very good! The staff member who helped us was very nice and friendly. I wish it was open for dine-in because the atmosphere here is really cool. I will have to return to enjoy another beverage and a good book. I would recommend this spot.
Very friendly staff and nice local snacks. Very NY coffee shop where you walk up the steps to a small brownstone/apartment building to get into the shop. I worked in the shop pre covid and found it to be a good experience. They also have uncommon flavors like Rose, Lavender, etc which I can get when I am in mood for. If they could make cold foam for cold brews it would be a wrap for Starbucks.
I work a couple of blocks down from Proof so I stop in once or twice a week. Its a nice atmosphere and very nicely decorated. The staff is lovely and I never find anyone with an attitude. Nice array of pastries as well as coffee. I usually get a small black or cafe mocha ...taste great. It can get very crowded at times so I try not to go when Im in a hurry. All in all a solid A.
Ive been coming in almost everyday for a couple months now. The staff and service is always top notch and are very welcoming. Best part is the staff being extremely knowledgeable about coffee and providing me with some very detailed info about the different roasts and origins of the coffee they sell. Definitely recommend if youre uptown to come in and grab a cup!
I love this place. I come here often to get a caffeine boost and study, the vibe is so great I dont even notice how much time Ive been working. The shop itself is really pretty, especially with the large windows up front. The music is good, the coffee is always delicious, the sandwiches are SO yummy and the treats are addicting! Everyone who works here is so nice too, its the perfect coffee spot.
What an act of kindness they did when they offered me a free iced cup of water with my iced coffee! They saw I was slumping in the heat, and they offered me a free iced water. It was so considerate I had to come here and leave a good review. I wish I could have sat down and enjoyed myself in their little cafe, but corona is preventing that. :/ Still....lovely place, and lovely people.
Nice place and very delicious coffee, although its a bit too expensive. A large cold brew (the size of a medium iced coffee elsewhere) will run you almost 5 bucks. Alas, the girl at the counter has been nice to me each time Ive gone there. Its a nice place to spend some time, but a tad too expensive for me to get my daily dose of caffeine at.
This is your chance to be seen and make money. Lovely place but hard to spot BUT if you put tables outside you can finally be on the map. Everyone will notice you! Create a lovely and inviting outdoor space, look at Double Dutch or Monkey Cup, they created a unique space. Monkey Cup even used wood from the fallen trees last week to make something unique, free basically. I hope you will up your game because your coffee is good but many people don’t know it yet.
Stumbled on this place during an afternoon exploring Harlem.Great find!Great coffee from baristas who really know what they are doing and took the time to explain the process. Also had a nice small meal.I loved the atmosphere with the local artist capturing the feel of the neighborhood. Was able to use the wifi to download some info I needed.
The space is bright and sunny, with nice windows in the front and back. In addition to the cafe standards of pastries and espresso drinks, they offer sandwich, oatmeal and other heartier food options. The cappuccinos are very large, so consider ordering a smaller espresso drink if youre not a fan of that much milk.
Proof coffee roasters not only has amazing matcha lattes but great employees with fantastic, customer service. Zachary and Brian, are very welcoming, friendly, and hardworking. Everytime, I come for my regular matcha tea, i am greeted with a smile and a how are you. These employees seem to really care about their job and the customers they service. I feel as if, they make my matcha with love. Its always so delicious !I will never go to another coffeee shop in harlem as long as, Zachary and Brian, are employees at proof roasters. Great job guys!
This place is a scam. I went there at a time when google said it was open, but the store is empty and clearly not operating. Because I had seen they had an online page, I bought coffee from them online. They charged me and sent me a supposed tracking number, but the link says a label has been created, but the item hasnt been received by USPS. Since the item continued to show as not received by the post office, I reached out to Proof Coffee by email. Nobody ever responded to 3 emails that I sent over a week, and the item was never sent to the post office, so I disputed the charge with the card I used to pay for it. A certain Jonathan Chastain reviewed this place about a week before this review. Thats a lie: the place is closed and not operating. Stay away from these people: theyre scammers.Since the owner responds below and I cannot respond to his response, I will add that I have never been an employee of PROOF. I live nearby and went there one afternoon at a time when Google said it was open, and the place was closed and didnt seem to be operating at all. But if it is, Jeff, you can expect me in person soon to have a word with you about the money you stole from me by taking a payment for an online order that you never delivered. Below you tell me that if theres a problem one should contact you, but as I said above, I sent you 3 emails after I was charged for the coffee I ordered, and nobody answered me. I was charged on June 1st, and the tracking number you sent me still says (today, June 23rd) that USPS didnt receive the item you charged me for. In fact, today my bank reimbursed me for the charge, since I disputed it. So I got my money back, but NOT FROM YOU, and I shouldnt have to waste my time or count on my banks insurance to not be robbed.
Yeah! Just what the area needed ! Great coffee, sandwiches and pastries, with friendly, quick service in a lovely setting. The baristas take their coffee seriously and will teach you the nuances of various brews and drinks.Free wifi allows me to work as well as enjoy coffee and food.I am now a regular. See you there :-)

2022-04-14I love this neighborhood coffee shop. This has been my go-to coffee shop since I moved to Harlem. Its a great place to work if you are able to find a seat, however, I do not recommend taking calls to respect others who are working around you. The place is small but cozy, and the staff is super friendly. I LOVE LOVE LOVE their cheddar scones and vanilla cinnamon lattes. The prices are a little high, especially for Harlem. I am able to get coffee and baked good for much cheaper in midtown. But the deliciousness makes it worth it.

2022-06-07A sweet and cozy coffee shop. The roasts smell heavenly when you walk in. Staff was very polite and welcoming, as were other patrons. A lot of seating to relax and sip or work and read.

2021-10-08Very nice neighborhood coffee shop. Very friendly and informative staff. Reasonable prices for Manhattan. Cash and credit accepted. Street parking only. Coffee is very delicious and the shops atmosphere is very casual and relaxing. Definitely a great spot for any coffee drink. Not sure what to get just ask and the staff are more the willing to help. They do make traditional coffee styles as well as Starbucks style of coffee. 10/08/21

2022-07-12I have been a customer to this coffee shop (ACP to Proof Coffee Roasters) for over 6 years and I will sadly not return after my experience today.Dolly, my service animal, and I always make a pit stop to Proof half way through after our walks. The staff has always been so kind, aware that she was a service animal. I’ve even made friends at this establishment over the years.Today, I guess newest barista to start working there, was so incredibly rude to me while asking if my dog was a service animal. A short white woman, with short hair that seems to really dislike working in the service industry. She has served me for several weeks and has never been friendly, and now I know why.And the most annoying part about all of this is my dog was in her dog backpack. We were going to the vet. She wasn’t on the ground. If you have a service animal, Manhattanville Coffee is very welcoming and are so nice. I will take my business there from now on. Proof Coffee Roasters just lost a 6 year long neighborhood customer.

2022-05-22Best cappuccino in harlem. Incredibly friendly staff. Theres just something very cozy about walking into this place first thing in the morning and then strolling around the park with a coffee.

2021-10-08Visiting family in Harlem, I wanted a quiet place to sit and work for a few hours with great coffee. So many places arent open to seating; I messaged a few places and only one replied. PROOF.Jeff... the owner of the company, actually sent me a text thanking me for my interest and we had brief text chat; warm friendly and proud of his business.True to his word, they were open, seating was available, and the coffee was great! Unfortunately for me, I didnt have a pic of my Vax card handy and while the girl at the counter didnt make a big fuss, she was concerned that officials could pop in and it would reflect badly. I totally respect that, and appreciated her pride in the shop and business. She was truly sincere and kind about it; totally my bad for not being more aware. On the customer service front, they are great. Coffee was really good, and in general, the spot is cozy, quiet and generally relaxing. Only major issue... COVID... outside of that, when Im back in town, Ill be prepared and go back. 🙏💕

2017-03-22The experience is really new yorkish. Walking up the stairs, getting to the door like to friends apartment. Small, bright coffee place with street view serving pastries and bagels along great tea selection and coffee. Very cozy and friendly. But coffee itself could be better.
