This is a great bike shop and was well worth a schlep. While Id narrowed down my considerations to a small handful of cargo bikes before even learning about Propel Bikes, it was incredibly helpful having several casual (and free) trial rides to get a feel for various models. The store seems to put great priority not on pushing certain bikes, but ensuring that customers are paired with the right model. They urged me to take out the cargo bike I was interested for a day to see if it was really what Id hoped for. And, the Tern GSD S10 is phenomenal for my family. The bikes arent cheap, but the quality and customer care is exceptionally high, a rarity these days. I also have confidence that Ill get good maintenance support down the road.
Purchased our MK1 from Propel. The bike had an issue it incurred during shipping and one recall while we have owned it. Propel was great in getting me the parts I needed and helping me and my local bike shop in repairing and maintaining what is a pretty sophisticated piece of machinery. Thanks Nahim!
Most reviews are based on initial impressions - this review is different - I am writing it as I just complete 1,000 miles on the R&M Delite e-Bike I purchased from Propel Bikes in April.Note that I am 66 years old and had a knee replacement less than 2 years ago. I had great reservations about whether I could or should try to ride again.I found Propel after seeing youtube reviews with the owner (Chris) on electricbikereview. I liked his direct way of presenting both the pros and cons of the bike for different users and uses.I had dozens of questions, which Chris patiently and expertly answered.I am not local to Propel, so my purchase was sight unseen which for an expensive item like this was a little concerning.Everything went very smooth - even to guidance on accesories like like keyed locks and commuter helmet. Delivery to my house was smooth and damage free. I was riding right away.I would reccomend a bike fitting by a local professional early in the ownership - I was a little slow on deciding to do this, and had a few more sore days than I should have. Once the bike was adjusted to me, I am riding it everywhere . I am commuting to work once a week - 40 miles round trip with about 2,400 feet of vertical climb. The electric assist helps, but it is still a physical challenge.No injuries, No crashes.After the sale, every question I have had , Propel has answered fully and promptly. This bike was custom painted by a vendor Chris knew. It is an xtracycle 10e. The staff here are extremely knowledgeable, and are willing and able to help every step of the way. They installed an in-hub gearing system for me because the derailleur system installed by the manufacturer was just not working well for this low-wheeled longtail cargo bike. They helped me seal the shifting cables inside the housing so they would not get dirty and need changing very often. It is a direct result of their knowledge and expertise that this bike works as well as it does.
Really impressive service from these guys. They have been up against it during the pandemic with supply chain issues, increased demand and so on. I had some issues with a bike I bought from them and they have gone above and beyond to make sure they do everything in their power to make it right. They know their stuff, which is not in itelf a unique trait for a store like this, but they way they do business, the level of expertise and the commitment to making sure they deliver for their customers is really second to none.Wait times right now are longer than everyone would like, and folks are stretched thin, but if you are considering an e-bike and need some advice, definitely hit these guys up. Very highly recommended.
I purchased a Gazelle C380 back around March of this year and its been a life changer. I used to commute to Manhattan daily and since getting this bike I havent driven once. Ive racked up almost 2500 miles between me and my son since getting the bike. Nahim and the rest of Propel made the purchasing process easy and have helped greatly with the few issues Ive encountered since. Fantastic bike and fantastic business.
We bought an e-bike with Propel in May that would arrive with them late June/early July. After delivery was delayed by the manufacturer it arrived at Propel NYC on July 28 to assemble and deliver. After that, it took a while to get the bike to us in DC, eventually late August.We were a bit disappointed by the delay in delivery, as delivery was promised earlier. However, supply chain problems are affecting all companies right now and Nancy remained responsive and nice over the email. After initial delivery was canceled, the owner Chris brought the bike all the way to DC the next day. He took all the time to explain us the ins and outs and helped us installing the kids seat on the bike as well. So nice! We”ve been enjoying the bike a lot over the last days!

Propel is first class. I made an appointment to look at a couple E-Bikes and Nancy took me on the coolest ride around Long Beach and the harbor! Lee, Chris and team helped me reach my dream of buying a cargo e-bike to ride around with my twin children. I recently purchased and Ebike Propel. I did a ton of research and was looking for Best. I purchased a Reise & Muller which had to be shipped from their California location. It shipped direct and was packaged perfectly. Upon receipt I noticed the rack on the back of the bike was not correct. Propel immediately sent out their Top service tech to my house and spent a lot of time not only changing the rack but getting me completely comfortable with my purchase. I have dealt with the Owner, Sales staff, and Service Techs and all have been excellent. Thanks again Propel!!
Great experience shopping, purchasing, and receiving our Benno Boost E bike from Propel! We live in Arkansas, but our interactions with Basheir Babikir were great, and he helped with so many of our questions. The bike arrived approximately 3 weeks after purchase, which was fine and expected. Only a few adjustments were needed after unboxing. Overall great experience, and the bike is great!
I ordered and took delivery of the Riese & Muller Load 75 ebike from Propel. What drew me to this ebike shop were their YouTube videos, which give highly detailed reviews of ebikes, components, and helpful industry information. When requesting a bike online, a Matchmaker gets in touch and works out the details of the order. I received prompt service to order my Load 75, received updates on status and delivery, and was followed up after taking the bike home. I highly recommend ordering from Propel. They really care about their work.
Worked with Basheir to buy a new Tern GSD R14 and a bunch of accessories during the bike shortage of 2021. Had a great overall experience with Propels sales. It took a couple months to get the bike (as is normal in 2021); during that lead time my emails were always answered same day by Basheir/Nora. The bike itself arrived in pristine condition, with all the accessories (hexlock, panniers, others) installed perfectly. The tech who delivered it to me took extra time to make sure everything was perfectly fitted to me and it met my satisfaction.Im really happy I bought the bike from Propel, as Im confident that future service appointments will be handled with the same degree of quality and professionalism. Would recommend them to a friend without hesitation!
3/5/20Recently visited Propel Bikes at 134 Flushing Avenue in Brooklyn. The glowing reviews I have read are both accurate and well deserved. To receive the quality of knowledgeable assistance in such a comfortable setting is all too rare. Initially speaking with Hamed and, subsequently Lee, who spared no effort setting up and allowing me, at my own pace, to really test more models in one day than I have in 74 years was really appreciated. Connor patiently answered all my questions on a subsequent call.My experience was so positive I called the California store to subsequently recommend Propel to my closest friend who lives there.A few questions arose during my call. Within half an hour I found the inspiration for the comfortable professionalism I experienced when the owner, Chris, personally called me back. I have been researching e-bikes for years and through a google search was directed to Propel Bikes. I watched the videos that Chris posted on YouTube , and found them to be essential if you want to jump into the market.I was assigned a matchmaker to guide me through the process. It relieved my anxiety as I knew very little about e- bikes. There was constant correspondence from multiple matchmakers. Customer service is a priority for Propel. I just received my bike, and can’t wait for my first ride. I want to thank Chris, Kyle, Mack and the entire Propel team for a pleasant experience.
I had a wonderful experience with Propel Electric Bikes recently. I bought my e-bike when I was living in NY in 2018 and had a great experience with the purchase side. I moved to North Carolina and recently (June, 2020) started to have some intermittent problems with the Bosch motor system. After attempting to unsuccessfully remedy the problem with my local Bosch certified bike shop, I reached out to the service staff at Propel for what I thought would be just a suggestion since the bike has been off warranty for over one year. Instead, the service staff at Propel worked hard to help me with the problem, advocated with Bosch for me, and kept me constantly in the loop regarding their progress. The final result is that my issue is now fully resolved, thanks to Nahim, Pierre, and the other members of the staff. If you want a honest, professional, dedicated encounter with a group of people who know their business (during the sales experience and after), you cannot go wrong with dealing with Propel Electric Bikes. This is how a business should be run. Kudos to Chris Nolte for putting together such a exemplary staff. There is now a big fan in North Carolina.
I recently ordered and received a Riese & Muller electric bike from Propel. It was shipped to my home in Nashville from the Brooklyn location. The bike was extremely well packaged and arrived without a scratch. Set up was easy, and within an hour I was taking my first ride. Im very impressed with both the excellent customer service I received and with the R&M bike. I would not hesitate to make another purchase from Propel, and I have already recommended Propel to several people who have admired my new R&M Delite. This is a superb bicycle with great attention to detail and design. The dual suspension makes the bike extremely stable, and with the Gates belt drive and Nuvinci continuously variable rear hub, Im looking forward to not having to deal with chain maintenance and replacements. Overall my experience with Propel Cycles and the R&M bike has been exceptional.
I purchased 2 Raleigh Lore Ebikes from Propel. Mine, used for commuting now has nearly 12,000 miles on it and no problems. Whenever I needed a part or a tool to work on my bike, The team was always pleasant and helpful. I plan on buying 2 more Ebikes for a property we have in Montana and I will absolutely buy them from Propel; the advice, service and professionalism in general are a rarity in today’s business environment.
As an electric bike owner, I stopped by out of curiosity and was impressed by the staff - knowledgeable and friendly - and the selection. Chris and his guys asked good questions about my bike and offered some ideas to extend the life of my battery. They were helpful and respectful.I continued to use the local bike shop in my neighborhood for convenience, but I became dissatisfied as my bike was tuned improperly on more than one occasion.When my derailleur had trouble, I decided to go to Propel because I think theyre the best. I was expecting to pay for it too. When Chris gave me the $10 repair invoice, I asked if there was a mistake. He smiled and explained that service is not their main business.If you are in the market for an electric bike, then visit Propel for straight talk and good information, at least. Perhaps a test ride too.
Great, helpful, friendly staff helped me with finding the perfect bike. I had one issue with it and they were quick to repair it, and remind me of the complimentary check up. Their mechanics are very knowledgeable and more than willing to answer any questions I had. The bikes are great quality and will last a long time. If youre looking for an e-bike this is definitely the place to go.
Life changing. I learned to bike about two months ago as a full grown adult and mother of two kids. Jeff at Propel helped me find the perfect bike for me and was NOT pushy at all. He left me alone to take my bike lessons and get comfortable biking. I went back in and got my very first bike - an e-bike: The Benno Remi Demi.I’m grateful, truly, for Propel and Jeff to be a part of this experience that’s changed my life. I LOVE riding my bike all over the city. I feel like a child again because it is so much fun. And oh man, the sense of freedom. Don’t get me wrong. I ordered an e-cargo bike from Propel and then moved 3,000 miles across the country before they were ready to ship it out. They worked with me to change the shipping address and shipped bike fully assembled on a freight carrier-which they said they don’t like to do because of the potential for damage. Well, I received the bike and there was some minor shipping damage. Propel quickly made things right and even overnighted me parts. Top notch service.

An excellent, well-located, well-stocked, and attractive nationally known store with a variety of high-end (primarily European) ebikes. I was allocated an hour to test ride fancy a Riese and Müller model. This extremely stufdy bike handled great, climbing hills with aplomb and making it a breeze to quickly get around Brooklyn. I was seen to by Leandro who was well informed about the technical details of the various bikes sold in the store. The store is located in the newly redeveloped Navy Yard area at the near the corner of Vanderbilt and Flushing.
Contacted Propel to see if they would be willing to sell me a shipping box as I need to ship a bike. I was told they have a policy that wont allow them to sell a box to a customer. While they have no obligation to sell me a box, the policy seems to be a poor one with little regard for the community or environment. With this apparent lack of regard for the community and environment I am concerned about how I would be treated as a customer, and would be reluctant to spend any money with this company.
Propel Electric Bikes provided amazing support for me in my purchase of a Tern HSD S+. Although I have previously ordered an e-bike and assembled it myself, I felt that the HSD S+ with its automatic gearing system was potentially a more daunting assembly project, so I purchased Propels assembly service they did an outstanding job of both assembling my bike and shipping it to my Georgia address nearly entirely assembled.Propel also was really quick about getting my order ready and shipping it to me. I so much appreciate the extra care they took in organizing the delivery of the bike. I am so satisfied with my purchase experience from Propel that Im hoping I can make more e-bike purchases from them in the future.About the Tern HSD S+: This e-bike was purchased for my wife and I wanted a premium bike that would be small and super-easy to operate. This bike has an Enviolo AUTOMATiQ shifting system and its absolutely fantastic for my wifes ease-of-use needs. I love how the automatic shifting works. I do notice that I cannot travel uphill as efficiently or as quickly as I can on my 2015 mtn e-bike (previous generation of the same Bosch motor), but that is the only minor downgrade Ive found with the automatic shifter vs manual.All over the Tern HSD S+ exudes premium quality and my wife and I are 100% satisfied with it.
I am editing my original review below. My bike did get fixed and it was a pain in the . The Bosch motor went bad and had to be replaced. The LBS was able to figure it out with the help of a Bosch rep and rewired it (not nearly as neatly as original, but it works). Propel did help in getting the Bosch rep to come to the LBS to help their tech. The LBS, based on their experience with me, bought new gear to work on ebikes. The industry is catching up slowly if you need it now, probably quickly in the grand scheme of things.Then I had a problem with front rim, small and sorta unique. LBS couldnt source one so I wrote Propel. The could not source one either so they sent me a whole new wheelset with a UPS slip to send back my broken one. All I had to do was to trade out one for the other in a minute or two.Also I spoke with the owner several times on my initial challenges. He seemed to understand my frustration and, as far as I can tell, he has adjusted his business approach to take his customers situations into account in a more fulsome fashion. Well done Propel!OriginalI bought an expensive R&M cargo bike from Propel. It stopped working 6 weeks later. I was on my own to figure it out. My local bike shop together with Bosch finally got it working again. Propel abandoned me after a quick fix didn’t work. If you plan on buying a bike online, beware because they don’t stand behind what they sell.
I have an ebike that is having mechanical issues. I emailed the company (its not Propel!) repair/tech guys and requested a call to discuss a long running problem with the bike, instead of using slow and clumsy email. They told me they didnt have time to call me. I will never buy from them again. Customer support is key in the ebike business and Propel has been beyond expectations in their service. I get a call whenever I ask for it or an email, both within 24hrs. Propel even made a specific video for me to help with a question. The tone is always courteous, supportive, and helpful. Yesterday I was on an ebike ride with a good friend and he was complimenting my Gazelle. I told him I got it from Propel and he said, Those guys are great, and only carry high quality bikes. Ive been to their store in Brooklyn 2 times to try out bikes and their staff were all very informed and helpful. Was a very positive experience. There you go Propel...... a twofer.
What a great experience! Purchased a Bulls Lacuba Evo E8 from Propel in November 2017. The staff were extremely professional and were very patient in answering all of my questions. I received regular updates on my order right up to the time that the bike was delivered to my home. I really like the fact that the delivery was handled by PROPELS staff rather than some third party carrier. I highly recommend Propel if you are in the Market for a bike !
I can definitely recommend Propel, whether you are just curious about electric bikes or you know you want one. They have an excellent selection of bikes that they have been selling and supporting for a few years, so they know their bikes and are happy to let you test ride. They are committed to these functional and high-quality bikes. I was looking for a bike with cargo and/or capacity for a second person, and Propel’s choices are definitely the best in this department. Secondly, having maintenance service available for an e-bike is very important, and Pierre and the whole team are ready for that. I get the feeling that they will be around to support their customers, as they are not part of a larger company that can (this happened to my previous bike shop) just close a branch, leaving you without a good maintenance relationship. I recently bought an R&M Multicharger from Propel, and Nahim , Zen, Lee and the whole team got all the setup details sorted out right away, and now I’m just riding happily and loving the bike. The shop is bright and clean and the employees are amazing! I brought 2 e-bikes into Propel that I didnt purchase there to have some service done. They went above and beyond on the repairs and even made a few adjustments for free. I was pretty shocked at how inexpensive the repairs were for the quality. The next e-bike I purchase will definitely be from Propel!
Full service E-Bike Shop in Brooklyn. After emailing Lee, I traveled to the shop from New Orleans and test rode bikes I was interested in. The Riese and Müller Bikes are a world apart from other bikes I tried. They shipped one to me in a well packed box. I only had to tighten handle bars and install pedals. Took a ride the same day. Lee was very helpful and even suggested after sale accessories that they did not carry. Excellent shopping experience.
I would wholeheartedly recommend Propel because of their amazing service! I recently worked through a warranty issue with Nahim. And he is one of the most responsive and professional individuals Ive had the pleasure of working with. He worked persistently with the OEM to ensure he was able to help me, and ultimately solved the issue. A lot of shops give you attention when youre buying a bike. The guys at Propel truly stand by their product when theres an issue. Job well done!!!
Can’t say enough good things about propel bikes - from their many online videos featuring Chris and others (many of which I’ve spent way to many hours watchjng and rewatching) to the many email exchanges I had with them with all my various question (Lee was very professional and knowledgeable in my email exchanges).While I live in Minneapolis and they are located in NY and CA they were still more than happy to assist me which was great. As a newbie to e-bikes it’s great to know Propel is doing such great work to bring e-bikes to everyone and help them along the way. Hoping they open a store in Minneapolis soon!! I mean it is midway between NY and CA after all :-)
Connor was really knowledgeable and helpful in me making my decision to buy a Riese and Muller Supercharger. Although it wasn’t new, it was a 9 month old bike originally sold by Propel, and inspected/boxed/shipped by Propel to my local shop. It’s an amazing bike and I really appreciate Connor’s guidance. When I am in the market again, I will absolutely reach out to Propel again.
The best place to purchase e-bikes in NYC. The bikes are all great quality and carefully chosen by the shop. The staff are professional and knowledgeable. I purchased a bike here after 6 months of deliberation and I feel really confident in my choice. After all my research I do believe this is the best place out there in NYC for e-bikes. Expensive but totally worth it.
Great buying experience and customer service from the start up to when I got my bike. Lee answered all my questions and concerns and his recommendations are spot on. He provided me with a timeline of the build and I get an update on shipping and delivery. They are the only Ebike store willing to ship to Hawaii and their rate is very reasonable considering their location. I will buy from them again.
I came across Propel electric bikes while researching online with the intent to purchase my first electric bike. I cant say enough good things about Chris (the founder) and the team at Propel. Chris and his team were very helpful answering my questions, were very professional, and offered the best price. This is an amazing shop that sells top of the line, task oriented bikes such as cargo, kid transport, commuter , off road etc. and their service department is second to none. When I took my bike there, the performance improved so much that I was shocked. The bike was truly flawless when they delivered. A big shoutout to Chris who personally followed up on my parts that needed to be ordered despite corona virus etc. I can not thank these guys enough especially Nahim the ebike whisperer!
Drove 2 hours from CT to shop there. Totally worth my time. I had tried to do search online. It was much easier to do it there in person with knowledgeable staff who guided me through what would be my best options. Lee took time to find out what I wanted to do with my bike and gave me options to choose from. So it was more about what I needed rather than trying to sell me something. He explained me clearly cost and options. I ended up with a super bike at a very reasonable price. I am really glad that I drove down to that place.I totally recommend it. Certainly go there, especially if you live near by, but also even if you need to drive there. There are a lot of electric bikes out there. They are not all the same! This is a place where they will match you with a bike. They call themselves E-bike matchmakers which is very fitting. Enjoy your bike!
Chris and Kyle have been great! Whenever I have a question about my bike or about e bikes in general, they get back to me right away. Being out of town, when I needed some warranty work done, Chris arranged to meet me near my home(upstate)and took care of the work. They are always responsive and responsible. They get that it is all about customer service!
I live in Pittsburgh and was able to purchase a 2018 Riese and Muller Supercharger GH Rohloff HS from Propel. Not a cheap bike so I wanted to have a good team working with me on purchase and delivery. Propel had my configuration coming in as one of their try out bikes and graciously allowed me to purchase it. It arrived from Germany this month and they set it up and got it to me in a week. The bike is performing flawlessly. Ive had it out several times in the rain and snow of Pittsburgh and it has been fun to cruise up and down hills that I had a lot of trouble with on my Trek.Also, Ive had it up and down numerous trails on the Riverfront covering a lot of miles in eco mode and have yet to go below 80% on the batterys only charge thus far. Although I didnt believe any of the range claims made for the bike before I bought it, I now believe there is a chance that those claims are actually fairly accurate (at least in my estimation).In Point State Park at the convergence of the Monongahela, Allegheny and Ohio Rivers, I met several older riders (around my age of 67+) who stopped to chat about the bike and took a good, long, close up look. They were amazed by the workmanship, and theyre all interested in ebikes. So, who knows, there may be some business coming Propels way.I commend Propel for their excellent service and also got the insurance from the company they referred me to. Overall, an excellent experience with Propel and their team. If youre going to put a lot of dollars into an ebike that will work for you, make sure you contact Propel and give them an opportunity to win your business.
I bought the mother of all bikes from the good folks at Propel. Literally the mother of all bikes. Its a Felt Bruhaul and carries a baby and two children. It is now my car getting my three kids around Brooklyn. Chris and Kyle are the real deal--they helped me navigate the best e-bike for me, worked on it with amazing customer service, and produced a bike that is custom made for my life. My only complaint is that as e-bikes get more popular, and they are the best in the business, their turn-around time has gotten longer. But all-in-all, I am happy with my bike and I couldnt have done this without the guidance of the electric bike gods, Chris and Kyle.
The experience of buying a Specialized turbo Levo from Chris & the team at Propel has been fantastic. After weeks of research online I had A LOT of questions, all of which Chris was able to answer quickly, in detail & with expert insight.Whilst a few traditional bike stores had an odd e-bike model available to demo, none really knew much about them or had the models on my shortlist. Propel had all 3 of my top choices ready to demo, and when I came to the store these were powered up & ready for me to test ride. A lovely touch was letting a friend Id brought along test ride too. There was a whole lot of giggling as we powered up some of the hills by the propel store :)I found being able to compare the feel of motors & drivetrain was just as important as bike geometry when test riding a regular bike.From delivery & set-up, through to after-sales service where one factory part failed, Chris and team took fantastic care of me
Propel is the real deal. They had more top brands and most available to test ride. I started out with no recent bicycle knowledge and none at all of e-bikes, Kyle answered all my questions and set me up with test rides patiently with no sales pressure. I learned a ton on my first visit and bought two bikes on my second (at a great price). When one had a minor problem early on they fixed it without a blink (which made me glad I didnt buy from an internet source!). I have had more fun on these bikes than I could have imagined. It simply makes the bicycle a serious form of transportation for us non-athletes. 10 mile commute to work is now something I look forward to and only 5 minutes slower than my truck. Great people, great service, great deals, what else do you want!. I am already thinking of which mountain bike to get to compliment my street bikes. I know I will get it from Propel.
This is long overdue. Walked into Propel with a used Stromer and was given some great honest advice about what I might expect. Really respected their decision to only work on bikes they sell. Came back with a bunch of questions and left with a bike and trust that the big $ I dropped would be a protected investment. The team at Propel are committed to being pros - doing their job well with intention and integrity! They spent hours making sure my after-market tires fit under the stock fenders while only charging me a flat fee for the replacement. Lee is great to work with on bicycle selection, matching a riders intent with appropriate options. Propel does a great job of offering great bicycles that would otherwise have a limited distribution, making them widely available with careful shipping and then supporting them after the sale.
The best electric bike store in NY. I was thinking one year what should I buy to skip subway riding. I checked many from internet. I also went to Propel to ask who knows better this thing. I was talking with Leandro and Cris and I took their advice to decision. I needed a quality fast city bike for a normal price to ride 30-40 mile/day. We checked a few possibility and I decided a Haibike Xduro Trekking S 5.0. Im glad I was listen to them. I got a very good quality bike with Bosch motor and battery. This bike is going to change my life. This store is selling only quality electric bikes. And they are a very good guys. It is not easy to find a bike to anybody to fit their conception. I can recommend this store to anybody who need good electric bike.

Called Propel Bikes 100% ready to buy a brand new Specialized Turbo X, but unfortunately, I do not live locally so they couldnt sell me one. This is due to Specialized restrictions on its dealers—not because they didnt want to ship it. Not wanting me to miss out on a great bike, they hooked me up with a local dealer that I didnt know had access to the specific bike I wanted. Thanks to their unselfish desire to help; my new bike is arriving next week.They could have tired to hard sell me on another model, but they didnt. They just gave me the information I needed to make the purchase I wanted—even tho it wasnt with them. Thats customer service!
Recently, this Desert Dog (from Phoenix) decided it was time to make cycling fun again, so I started looking at recumbent bikes. Once I found the bike that best fit me (an EZ Sport AX), I found the best pricing, cooperation and willingness to make things work for me, of all places, in New York, with Chris Nolte and Long Island Electric Bikes. Not only was Chris professional and friendly, he made sure I was informed every step of the way. When Chris and brother Kyle received my bike, they found some minor paint scratches that they were able to touch up for me, but they did not stop there, they took that extra step of informing the manufacturer and got a rebate for me, saving me even more money! What a great experience and I am having more fun riding (240 miles in 21 days) than I have for a long time (I ride and commute over 3,500 miles a year)! Ive never been to the Great State of New York, when I do go, my first stop will be at Long Island Electric Bikes!

He did not have the bike I wanted in stock, but offered to order it for me and have it shipped directly to me. Even gave me free shipping. Not only did he ship the bike immediately, gave me an almost unbelievable price, and was responsive to all my emails, he also took care of me when one tiny detail went wrong.The charger that came with my bike broke about two months after I purchased it. I wasnt even really annoyed, because it was a demo bike and this was a small complication for that killer price I paid (did I mention how great the price was?).I sent Chris an email asking if he had any advice to try with regard to fixing the original charger before I bought a new one. Im soooo glad I found this bike shop. I went to Propel Electric Bikes following a bad experience with another local electric bike shop (Greenpath). Because of my bad experience at the other shop, my Bionx system was not working properly. As a busy single mother who uses her bicycle as her primary mode of transport for herself and her kids, I was a bit panicked. Thankfully, somebody recommended Propel, so I called them and they were able to see me almost immediately. They diagnosed the problem and made the fix within 10 minutes of my arrival to the shop. They made sure my tires were at full pressure before I left, and patiently answered any lingering questions I had about my new system. The best thing about this shop is the guys working there - Kyle and Nahim. They are both extremely pleasant people. Laid-back and friendly, with zero attitude. As an older woman in a bike shop I often feel condescended to by the young men who (inevitably) work there, but these two guys were so cool, so respectful, and just all around awesome! I felt totally comfortable in that shop. Propel Electric Bikes is now my new go-to for all my electric bike issues. Im so glad I found them!!

Absolutely the best electric bike shop on the planet. Arrived early afternoon to test ride a R&M Delite. Wow!! Lee guided me through the streets of Brooklyn on my test ride. Sold! New bike assembled and ready to go in couple of hours No holding back regarding the rideability, comfortable ride, and engineering that went into this bike. Thank you Propel.Update:November 23, 2018.Had the R&M Delite for a check-up on Saturday, Nov. 17. Nahim checked out the bike and just had to tighten up the drive belt. In a little over 2 months I had ridden this bike 1052 miles. Minimum wear on disk pads, rotors, and tires. Oiling of a chain and gnashing of gears are a thing of the past. I just get on this bike and ride for miles! Fun to say the least. R&M have just dialed this bike in perfectly for the kind of rides I enjoy. The solid build of the Delite and its secure feeling beneath me are unlike anything I have experienced on previously owned road, mountain and recumbent bikes. And, to have a backup team like the professionals at Propel Bike is icing on the cake. They answered my (copious) annoying questions since my needs were complicated, and were always willing to help.bike was delivered (this is during COVID19 pandemic (the second peak of the first, if this changes in the future, dear reader)) 90% assembled, I had a small issue but they helped me solve it pretty quickly.I cant speak for their other bikes, but the Tern HSD is already close to replacing a car for me, at least while the pandemic keeps me from needing to go far

I recently took my ebike to shop to have brakes checked in July of 2019 and was informed they no longer work on ebike unless theyre purchased from their shop, I brought my bike on line so now Im messed up. When there was an inadvertant error in the method of delivery of my Riese & Müller SuperDelite, Propel Bikes sent one of their top people on a trip of over an hour and a half (each way) up to Connecticut to personally make it right. That’s service! Their rep, Nahim, helped me immensely. Propel is the best!
We went to Propel from Westchester County after reading other reviews. Definitely worth the trip. Chris(the Owner) asked me what my criterias were and made suggestions w/ those in mind. Next came the test ride and , again, Chris asked questions about comfort level, speed etc.We went there expecting to buy one bike, but came away buying one better for me.Chris is not about the most expensive bike u can buy from him. He really cares. Go and see for yourself. (Lots of bikes to choose from, too.)

Well, I don t have any words left to tell how the xduro race 28 is for the experience performance riders. I drop by Propel- Shop in down town Brooklyn across the Navy-Yard. First of all, the staff is great and very helpful. I never meant a guy (Chris Nolte) that is so considerate that he offer a public bench in front of the store. The bench is for the public while waiting for city-public-bus. Anyway this this bike gave me chills the entire time. I dont have any negative words about the Xduro-race-28 (2015). I tour the bike for almost 4 miles and didnt want to get off. The battery had a 98% charge after riding in Eco-mode with approx. 56 miles left to complete. If I knew my way around Brooklyn well! Empty- charge -battery …..he.he.he (my size 5’4.5”/53 size bike)!!! Guys, if you’re looking for a performance bike on a 10 speed frame well......! Its worth dumping your girlfriend and replace her with this purchase...! (Joking). The bike will give outstanding results perhaps more than the stromer (ST2) if you’re looking to ride a 10 speed frame with 700 Rims. After ridding the xduro, I Took one last look before returning it into the store. There was a nice couple walking by store-front and they notice the xduro I was riding. The female started asking positive questions about the bike and she mention that,” I never saw such a beautiful bike like this before”. She spent about 10 min just viewing the bike wishing that she knew how to ride a 10 speed bike with drop-bars. The tail light on this bike is something you will see on James Bond sports car. The Bosch drive unit is a high RPM cadence when ridding but allow you to gain speed covering allot of distance. I enjoyed the actual ride with smooth carbon rims and the Bosch drive system was asking for more performance from me (hehe)..!) . Chris was nice enough to offer me a cold/bottled water after the intense 27 MPH (only in 5th gear) ride on a very sunny nice day in Brooklyn. Job well done Chris for allowing me to test ride the Xduro race 28 (2015).
I wrote a lot more about what transpire with me with propel. but it look like it got Erase. I will give you the short version if you don’t buy a e bike from them then just don’t waste your time bringing you’re bike to their shop cause they will deny service. Even if the bike company tell their are 3 places where you could get service from near your location. And propel was one of the shop and being that propel is 10 mins from my house why not got their. And it’s not like I could work on my bike myself cause it would void my warranty. I find myself in a hard place.Reply to propel: the stromer bike I got have an app and it’s show 3 stores in the nyc area and the store I brought it from being kinda far. So I figured I would take it to your store but before I did That I email y’all before doing so. Because y’all tell me y’all are really busy and push me to the side. and y’all stated in the email y’all don’t work on bikes that are not brought from propel. And I know y’all use to work on other ebike not brought from y’all cause I brought my ebike to y’all in the past to get fix. and it’s a real shame y’all stop doing that. Cause regular bike shops won’t work on e-bike. And on top of that stromer want you to have service done with authorize dealer. The bike shop I got the bike from would have fix the problem. it’s just would of save me a lot of time to just go to y’all.IM JUST INFORMING PEOPLE THAT YALL STOP SERVCING E BIKES NOT BROUGHT FROM YALL EVEN THOU YALL SELL THE BIKE IN YALL STORE. I recently purchased a Stromer from these guys. I must say they were great to work with and extremely knowledgable. I was on the fence with a few different bikes I had been researching, and these guys were not only able to answer all my questions, but they had everything out on the floor for me to test ride! I recently needed a little tune up, and they got me fixed up right away. Overall a great experience and I wouldnt go to anyone else!
Never having even riden a electric bike...was unsure of what one to order. I did some online research and then compared prices. Long Island Electric Bikes had the best prices (even beat a ebay bid war I had going) and Chris was extremely helpful in the whole ordering process. I bought the izip e3 Vibe and Love it!! I purchased a German Kalkhoff eBike when I lived in Stuttgart. It was perfect for my daily commute of about 10 kilometers. If youve never ridden an eBike, by all means, go test one. Mines one of the pedal-assist types -- it doesnt have a motorcycle-like throttle, instead the rider pedals and the electronics determine how hard youre working and provide some motor assistance based on the level of assist youve pre-set.Pedal-assist eBikes flatten the hills. They dont remove the pedaling requirement, they just make it so much more enjoyable. It has become my transportation of choice. Ive purchased panniers and these make it perfect for grocery runs.Look, Im a 60 year old who hadnt been on a bike in 30 years, and this eBike has become one of the best things in my life. It gets me some exercise, gets me out in the fresh air, and its just plain fun. Who doesnt need a little more fun in their lives? And Ive dropped 20 pounds since I started riding -- while having the time of my life.When I repatriated from Deutschland back to the states, I needed to replace my European 220 volt charger with a US-spec 110 volt charger. I was worried the best thing in my life was going to have to go away if I couldnt find a replacement for that battery charger.I pinged Chris about possibly finding a 110v charger for a Kalkhoff and Chris had it shipped to my address in Alexandria, VA 3 days later. Simply amazing service. The email conversations I had with him demonstrated how customer-focused he is. If youre thinking about an eBike, think Propel first. First-rate service thats so rare these days. Absolutely great. Chris, if you read this, thank you very much again!
These guys are the best!!! My Focus Aventura S10 ebike was acting up. Kyle arranged to have my bike picked up on the east end of Long Island, had the manufacturer send a new motor, then after repairing the bike had it delivered back to my door in Hampton Bays. All at no charge covered by warranty. I highly recommend these guys!!!
For a minute there I thought I made an expensive mistake, my bike wasnt working properly and after repeated visits to the shop to have it repaired I continued to have problems (that the staff assured me are rare). Leandro assured me theyd get my bike up and running properly and they did. Now it works great and I couldnt be happier about my purchase. This is definitely a good shop.
When it comes to most things in life, you get what you pay for. The same most definitely goes for ebikes. You will find cheaper ebikes at other shops throughout the city but the quality maybe suspect. If you want to choose from only quality, long lasting bikes, visit Propel.
Visited Propels Brooklyn store to test ride the R&M Supercharger and compare it directly with one of Stromers ST models. Lee Martin did a sterling job at explaining the intricacies of the different models and drivetrains and shared some real world user experiences of both makes I was interested in. There is a lot of information about e-bikes on the internet, still I strongly recommend a visit to Propel.

2022-06-20The best way to describe this visit is to think back to old school non crowded Apple stores days from the 2000’s. Jeff, was the most amazing salesman and bike consultant. He reached out to me in response to my phone call and had made arrangements for the bike to be available for a hands on review the same day. He then offered to take me out on a road test with it where we slapped on the coolest wallow talkie helmets and went for a ride around Brooklyn Navy Yards. He was helpful, patient, knowledgeable. It was a lovely visit. Looking forward to picking up my bike after they finish prepping it!

2022-02-10I love my new bike!!!! The team at Propel was more than helpful in getting me my dream Ebike. I never felt pressured about purchasing a bike. The sales team listened to what my needs were in an Ebike and talked over options that would best suit my needs. The fulfillment/service team answered all my questions on how to best keep my Ebike in working condition. It was very obvious the people working here are true bike lovers. I use my bike every day commuting to work and weekend rides in the city. I would highly recommend the team at Propel for anyone thinking about getting an Ebike this summer.

2021-10-08Its easy to write a good review when everything is perfect. When you have a challenge, thats when a company shines or falters. I ordered an R&M bike from Propel, but when it arrived, it was so damaged in shipping that it could not be sold. They contacted the manufacturer and a new frame was shipped. But instead of waiting for my bike to be rebuilt with nothing to ride, they hand delivered a loaner bike to use until mine was ready. Incredible service and a fabulous solution to a challenging situation. Before you order your e-bike, give the folks at Propel a call. They are the best in the business. I wouldnt consider buying an e-bike from anyone else. I want to particularly thank Alexis, Kyle, Jeff and Nahim. You have a customer for life.

They are very cool looking and oh so fast. They get us up the hills on our paths with no problems at all. 2020-11-03I would like to Thank Connor Sargent for working hard getting a bike to me here in Bermuda, I did pick maybe four or five different Bikes and finally we came to the decision of the Gazelle ULTIMATE T10+. It was boxed up perfectly, no damage to the bike and was here in Bermuda in a few days.My wife now is looking at getting a Gazelle E-Bike and i will definitely use Propel Bikes and Connor Sargent to help me get one again. I would say though it would be nice to see a water bottle and holder chuck into the box.Great Bike and so happy I got the Bosch Speed 28mph bike, we have so many hills in Bermuda and it really helps getting up them, also the Gazelle is very comfortable and makes a 15mile ride easy.Thanks again !!We were so happy the first time around with Propel Bikes we decided to get another Gazelle for my Wife. Propel didnt have the bike we wanted but had one in California so they shipped it to New York, got it ready and shipped it Bermuda for us.We would like to thank everyone involved, and we highly recommend Propel Bikes for helping us get our two Gazelles, they are great bikes and Perfect for the hills in Bermuda.

I am screaming from the roof tops.These people were awesome!I ended up with a Gazelle Medea T10+ after seeing Propel and Flyrides videos on YouTube. I asked like 100 questions and I know I can be a difficult customer. They were patient with me and very professional.The bike is amazing. I want to ride it all the time. Experts with amazing customer service, you won’t be disappointed purchasing from Propel!My new Riese & Muller Tinker rides like a dream and I chose this bike after speaking with the matchmakers over the phone about my use case. This is money well invested in a durable product with an honest dealer that is clearly in it for the long-haul (just type in Propel electric bicycles on YouTube). They are the market-leader for a reason as they are shaping the industry and influencing regulation with a focus on quality and safety.The European e-bike landscape has reached a different level of maturation and acceptance due to honest and durable, automotive-grade products supplied by companies like Riese & Muller and Bosch. Propel is leading this movement in the U.S. so that we can one day enjoy a similar and safe bike infrastructure. (I don’t know about you, but I would choose an electric bike over the subway any day of the week, provided I am protected from speeding cars).
