The TLDR is that you can trust your car with Proper Service (formerly Osceola Garage).Their estimates, both time and money-wise, are reasonable and accurate. Their service advisors are friendly and very knowledgeable.Before continuing I want it known that I am speaking as someone who has spent over five years wrenching in two higher-end dealerships. As such, I can assure you that these gentlemen know what they’re doing and won’t charge you unnecessarily if they can help it.Over the past few years I’ve taken my wife’s Honda, my older Mercedes, my Miata, and even my 2020 Veloster. All have been handled professionally and fixed right the first time (an industry standard forever sought after but bafflingly difficult to find at times).I’ve brought them everything from routine oil and assorted filter changes to the replacement of every front end suspension bushing on my Miata. It was the former that really impressed me as I had spent my own time attempting the same job on my garage floor with no success.After two days of fighting seized bolts and aligning and test driving they returned the car to me driving and handling better than I can ever remember.They don’t know it but every so often I do quality control checks even after routine maintenance. Now, that’s not because I don’t trust them but because of some of the things I’ve seen myself while working in the field. Mistakes happen, after all.That being said, I’ve never once found something wrong. They replace what they say they’ll replace and they do so professionally. Their recommendations are never frivolous and their rates are fair.It’s likely we’ve all had something recommended be replaced by a shop just looking to make a quick buck. After all, most people know embarrassingly little about their cars. It’s the ultimate customer nightmare.You bring your car in for something benign and then you get a call back a few hours later with a bill that’s five times larger full of parts and prices that you’d have to spend all afternoon googling in order to have even a vague understanding of what’s being sold to you.But really, it should be a no-brainer. My car will run and drive more smoothly for longer if I follow their recommendations. They’re professionals, after all. So, then, why doesn’t it feel good to say, “yes,” to an upsell?It’s because there’s always that little voice in the back of your mind that says, “I don’t know about this. What if they’re wrong? Or worse, what if they’re lying?”Yes, this shop exists to make money but it’s rare to find a shop where that isn’t the number one directive. Where decisions are more often made for the good of the customer and not purely for the good of the shop’s finances.Take it from someone who knows. I know that these guys know what they’re doing. You know?
First time at this place for a state inspection for my beloved 20 year old Z3 Roadster and was treated with utmost respect, sincerity and professionalism. The owner came by and said hello and the rest of the staff were just as kind. They told me the car is in great condition and did not try to sell me on anything unnecessary. I’d gladly go back to them for future services. What a great staff!
All around it was a pleasant experience. My wife was amazed at how polite everyone was. No cursing, no dirty jokes. She generally does not like going into those types of garages. There was no upselling like at the oil changing places. All work that was done was explained. I highly recommend Osceola Garage.
Osceola Garage is knowledgable, honest, caring and attentive staff and owner. The staff explained all needed services and never tried to push services I didnt need just to make an extra buck. This was when it was Osceola Garage. Not happy with the new management at Proper Service at all.
This garage is not your typical garage! First of all, it is sparkling clean (a small thing but indicative of pride and the organization), and the staff (from the mechanics to the owner) are incredibly professional and kind - and most of all, trustworthy!! I am a lady who knows nothing about cars, but I do know people, and Joe Marconi is such a wonderful person and owner who personally checks-in with his customers. He truly cares about his community and business and it shows. I only had basic services until recently when I had a flat tire, which was handled so well (and thankfully was able to be repaired not replaced!) it was seemless. And the next day, Joe even checked in with me to see how the tire was doing. Very glad to have found a place I can trust!
Im new to the area (2 years) and I needed a more reasonable place to take my truck. Osceola was recommended to me by a close friend. My Tacoma had only been to the dealer over the past 56k miles. From making the initial appointment with Nick to receiving a hand written note a few days after service from Joe, I have been nothing but satisfied with this garage. The process was easy, no surprise costs, or NEEDED fixes. They took great care of my vehicle, constant communication, and easy pick up. They won me over their service and personal attention to detail. The card sent home, was icing on the cake. I will continue to use them, moving forward. The trucks breaks are awesome, less than dealer and they took care of another issue, saving me a return trip to the dealer, thank you!
Once again another great experience at Osceola. Nick meet me outside with warm greeting. He knew my name and what services we were bringing the car in for. Its my daughters car and as a young girl in her 20s she feels extremely comfortable interacting with the guys at Osceola and never feels uncomfortable dropping off or picking up her car by herself. The car was ready as promised and they successfully diagnosed and addressed our issue. Our family has been using Osceola for over 20 years and weve never been disappointed. Joe and his team have built a great customer friendly and reliable shop.

Went to a “big tire shop” don’t want to name. Mounted and balanced wheels. Vehicle had bad vibrations. Brought it back rebalanced wheels. Still had a vibration. Found Osceola Garage. Mike took me in right away. Verified all numbers off. Rebalanced wheels and cleaned hubs, all is Perfect now! Thanks Osceola. Will definitely use them when needed! Great service, in and out in less than 1 hour.
Auto mechanics typically get a bad rap; however, Osceola Garage is different. They have been servicing my cars for a number of years and I have found them to be honest, reliable and very diligent. I have never been disappointed with the work they have done on my vehicles. In addition, their customer service and responsiveness are second to none. I wholeheartedly recommend them.

I have been using them for years. I would trust these guys to work on my Lear jet if I had one. Always friendly professional service from the service reps, but the stars of the operation, the mechanics are through like no other place I have experienced. I wish I could find doctors that thorough. I have gone to car dealers that miss the obvious with there own cars, but not these guys, fix it once is their motto. (I dont know if it is their motto, but it should be.) New or classic.If you want the cheapest price in town, this is not your place, but they are fair and honest. Just remember fixing it twice or getting stranded does not save you any money.

I’ve been going to Osceola Garage for about 7 years now. I have brought multiple vehicles in for repairs on radiators, oil pans, sensors, brake issues (thanks Dodge) and general maintenance. They vehicles were always ready when promised and the work that was performed never had any issues after it. Staff is always courteous and friendly with a fresh pot of coffee on.
First time visiting and the staff was super friendly. They walked me through my entire inspection and showed me anything they were recommending to get done but in no way pressured me into anything, just some sound advice. Owner also came out to introduce himself and welcome me to the shop and thanked me at the end. A+++
I have been a customer of Osceola Garage for over 20 years. What has kept me a customer for so long? Joe runs his business with the following principles: honesty, ethics and integrity. He truly cares about EVERY customer and repairs every car with an exceptional level of detail. When Joe and his team inform you of a needed service for your vehicle, you can rest assured knowing that they are not trying to sell you a service that your vehicle doesn’t need. The best example I can share is my MB was recently at the dealer for it’s last “free” maintenance. The service department tried to sell me $3,000 of repairs, which I declined. I brought my SUV to Joe and asked him to do a full inspection without informing him of what service the dealer said I needed. The technician reported back that there was no service needed. I informed the tech of the service the dealer said I needed and he showed me exactly why the service was unnecessary. Not once in all the years that I have been going to Osceola has any of my cars broken down. We have taken many long distance road trips and I never think about my cars maintenance before taking the trip. Beyond the high level of automotive service that Joe provides, he is also a great guy! Joe is very involved in giving back to the community. I attended his Family Service Day and was very moved by his genuine heartwarming care about the families of the cars that were being serviced. What an inspiration he is to our community! I look forward to being a customer for another 20 years!!

I have had wonderful experiences with this repair center both in Croton Falls and Mahopec. I had an appointment for tomorrow but called today and they were able to squeeze me in. Greg was a fabulous help and very courteous. whoever they have doing detail work on the inside of a car is my new best friend ! Ive been a customer of Osceloa Garage for at least twenty years. I keep coming back because they know how to keep my cars running for years after their perceived shelf life. For Honda Civic has more than 240,000 miles and still going strong. They are fair, honest, and excellent mechanics. But since so many people know what I know, they can be pretty busy, so call ahead for an appointment. I highly recommend them.
Through 15 years and about 4 cars, Osceola has always been there for me. The service, personal attention and the understanding when I call in the last minute, they can always accommodate me.I moved to Carmel - but it is worth driving my car to Osceola in Mahopac.It is now 20 years (2020) and I still bring my car to Osceola. All the personnel are very helpful and good-natured. My car operates very well and everyone at Osceola will help me and advise what needs to be done. Hi, I just moved to the around the area and I was looking for service on one of my cars and new a new mechanic. I called Osceola in the morning and they were able to fit me in for an appointment in the afternoon. Bill and Kristina were great to work with. they have great customer service and they promised me a time for my car to be ready. To find a really good, descent mechanic is really hard to find these days especially one that is not trying to rip people off. I am glad, they were able to help me especially in such a bind. I have been using Osceola for a couple years now for my 3 different cars. It is the first car service station I have used that i feel really comfotable with. All the employees are friendly, its easy to make an appointment and my car is always ready when promised. I had a big job done on my car and they were helpful in keeping the costs as low as possible. Bonus...they have cookies and beverages in their waiting room!
I have been a customer of Osceola Garage for over 15 years now. Recently during the ice storm my car slide into my garbage container and crack my spoiler on the back of my Lexus. I was quoted from a body shop over $800 dollars to replace a spoiler. When I ask Joe at Osceola Garage if he does this type of work, he told me he can help me out. He quoted me a price for the labor and the part for a much lesser price then the body shop. Osceola Garage goes out of their way for you. Their mission is to help their customers in anyway they can. They are all about the community and ARE ALWAYS giving back. Family Service Day is just one of the ways that Osceola Garage goes out of their way to help those who are not fortunate enough to maintain their vehicles. So, if you are wondering if Osceola Garage does the right thing. Well, please think about what they do in their community and for their customers. They have been established since 1980 and I have seen businesses come and go because they DID NOT do the right thing. First want to say, I serviced my car there today and your customer service always amazes me. The young lady at the front desk, kristina, greeted me and really surprised me when she asked if while I waited, I needed to do some work. I looked at her and asked, How did you know I was going to ask you if I could go upstairs and do some work? She answered, I figured you would need to get work done while you waited? I actually had a meeting at 10:30 and was going to ask her if I could go upstairs. Im still shaking my head as to how she knew what my exact needs were. It is rare when you walk into a place and the customer service reads your mind like she did. The service is a solid ten stars. To add, I went in for an oil change and the mechanic checked everything from top to bottom. Thats what you call trusting your mechanic!! Mike, another amazing customer service rep, told me I needed brakes and rotors. He not only called me back with a price today, but the price he gave me, beat out every single auto repair shop within 25 miles. Keep up the great work. A true hidden gem in Baldwin Place, NY
This garage is the best Ive ever been to. The staff is always accommodating and so nice and there are never any upsells or hidden fees.I didnt know they were by appointment only for oil changes but the girl at the counter let me leave my car and called me a couple hours later to let me know they were able to squeeze me in. I have dealt with her a few times and every time she is consistently helpful and friendly.I went there back in the winter because my tire pressure was low. They took my car, rotated my tires, and checked to make sure my pressure was back up for no charge.I would highly recommend if you are looking to fast, friendly service, and EXTREMELY reasonable pricing, and you only use this garage.
Yesterday at 8:00AM, I turned into Froggys Deli in Somers and my right axle broke. The first call I made was to Osceola Garage Automotive Services. Joe Marconi and his team have been servicing my cars for over 5 years and I cant say enough about the level of service and the care they have for their customers.Not only did they help me get a tow truck to the scene, replace both of my front axles in one day but found an issue with my rear brakes that they also fixed at the same time. They not only fixed the problem but checked to make sure everything else was working properly. Who does this? I have just moved to the area. I needed to have my inspection completed. I walked in on a Saturday a few minutes prior to their scheduled closing time asking if it were possible to squeeze me in. Chris replied, no problem. They were staying open late today to take care of customers today because of the storms this week.I was in and out in a reasonable amount of time. The entire staff was professional and friendly. The staff exuded an attitude like they wanted to be there and enjoyed their work. They knew most of the customers by name as they walked in.Fresh coffee and cookies available while I waited. Fox news was playing on the tv and I appreciate that choice over other news stations.I was handed a new customer packet detailing all their services and reccomondations for the future. With many choices on where to take my vehicle, this establishment stands out amongst the competition. I will be returning soon for my next automotive need.
I have been a customer of Osceola Garage for many years. I had a blow out on my car last week and the tire replaced at Osceola. When I got home and opened the trunk, not only did I find everything in its proper place , but all the dirty towels I used to change the tire where folded neatly in the truck. Thanks to Joe and Bill and the nice service man that folded my towels.
I cant thank Osceola Garage enough. Each time I bring my car, the expereince is great. My daughters car broke down and the they stayed late to wait for the car and luckily they had the part in stock and got the car back asap. They even called me the next day to make sure everything is ok. What great service! Priceless!
Dont go here. They think everyone is rich. I went to get a quote for replacing a radiator and I already bought a radiator so just needed them to put the new radiator in car. The first quote was very high I went 2 weeks later asked for another and the price dropped 200 and again the week after and the price was half of the first estimate. I even asked them if their labor price was 99 and the guy on the phone said its 150 and that they havent worked for less than 150 in years but when I went for my 3rd estimate the labor was 99.....?Also the first time I got the quote they said replacing a radiator was going to take 4hrs....?The reason it was so high. The 3rd time they were labor was 1hr and a half. I do not recommend going here. They will play games with you and not even realize that you are the same person and give you different prices. Do not go to this garage. If I could give 0 stars I would.
Ive taken my familys cars (about six in number) to Osceola Garage for more than 10 years. Joe, Bill, Mike, Kristina, and others have always treated me, my family and our vehicles with the care and respect that I appreciate and want to feel.Routine services are easy, of course - and many garages can perform these. Whats different here is that - even under extremely challenging diagnostic circumstances - both Osceolas service advisers and the mechanics go out of their way and take extra time: to ride with me for a drive, patiently listen to the car, offer thoughts/ advice, and (most importantly) offering me clear paths forward and pragmatic next steps.In one circumstance: On a new vehicle/ leased car, not even the vehicle manufacturer could offer a fix for a rough-running engine. With Osceolas help, pilots and diagnostic insights, I was able to help the local dealer to see the problem more clearly, and undertake the component replacement necessary, under warranty. If I hadnt had the benefits of Osceolas insights on the vehicle, this might have cost me much more money, out of warranty.In another - for a car LONG out of warranty - Osceolas mechanic rode with me repeatedly to listen to the noise from underneath the car. His insights were key to helping us to ultimately understand what was happening, and to take action to address it. Most importantly, I felt safe, reassured and cared for.From these and other examples, Joe and his team have earned my trust over many years.
This is my first time going there for inspection I am mechanic I service my car before winter my car is Toyota Corolla 68000 miles they We’re looking for any any any anything even if it doesn’t have to do with the inspection just to make money for 1 hour and after they told me my 1 brake light is not working after he came with price $20 for light that cost $1.99c I change brake light on Mercedes Benz head light for $15. They fail my car I can not believe it I would not recommend this place Run 🏃♀️ 🏃 from them
We were told repairs would total approx $1000. We said we wanted to get a second opinion and Osceola told us they had already done $300 worth of work. We paid for that and got a second opinion on the rest and were told by a different shop that nothing was wrong with the truck! I will avoid Osceola in the future.

After going to other repair shops in the area, and not being totally satisfied, Joe and his team diagnosed my check engine light problem and also found a problem with my read brakes. Thank you for the excellent service and the highest quality of repairs. I will definitely return, in fact, I made an appointment for my wifes BMW for tires and an oil change for next week.

2022-04-04This was the first time that I used Proper Service. There was a transfer of management from Osceola Garage, that I had frequented for 20+ years. The same great service is here too. Theyve retained the staff.I had an oil change, tire rotation, replaced spark plugs and serpentine belt. I will continue using them, because they keep my car dependable.

2022-05-07This place is legit. They worked on my 2013 Honda Accord. They are very professional and courtesy. They took care of the issues I was having with oil leaking from the engine and changed a defective oil pressure switch/sensor. I also had work done on my brakes and needed new calibers along with new front bearings. These guys know there stuff and my car is running smooth. I was recommended by a friend and it was the best decision I made. I will definitely return to this shop. Thanks Proper Service.

2021-12-21I brought my car here for a new tire sensor, a tire rotation and state inspection. They failed my car because of the tints and still ran the inspection. They claim my tints are illegal, which has never happened in the years I have owned my car. But that is okay. I am not upset about that. My real concern is the company could not sync the new tire sensor to the computer and never completed the tire rotation. I brought the car back 3 times for them to complete the computer sync, which they never did. When I left a simple review on car fax the owner, Joe, had an employee call me and state, “my boss said to stop working on your car and refund your money.” Joe then proceeded to write a negative response to my review on carfax, concentrating on the inspection which I never mentioned in the review. Maybe the owner was having a bad day and did not appreciate the review. But a review is a review. To over react like that is unprofessional. He should focus on solutions. FYI, my dash lights are still on caused by the company. Thank you for my refund though.

2022-05-06I highly recommend using Proper Service. These guys do an amazing job and treat your car with respect and dignity. These guys only work on my vehicles. I have a 1970 mustang to a 2012 Ford transit. There is nothing too old or too new that these guys can’t take care of. Stop in and ask for Mike and he will take care of all your auto needs.
