Poorly staffed, staff not amenable to any questions being asked. Patients sit in the dining area all day with a TV that is so loud you cannot converse. There is no meaningful stimulation. Issues are not addressed in a timely manner. Some staff is good, but most do not even make eye contact with visitors. Very sad place to be.
The experience was terrible. The night staff and administration was not helpful. The CNA and Nurses on night duty, were not doing what they need to do. My grandfather is an 86 year old 5 foot tall male. He was verbally abused in the middle of the night by a CNA, as well had his clothes taken away. This was all due to the family complaining to the head nurse on duty because twice my grandfather unfortunately had an accident at night and was not helped until the shifts changed for the day time. Its sad to report, the day staff was helpful but the night staff was the worst.
I agree with the night staff not being helpful at all. My father is at this facility and he absolutely hates it. In short he was taken to the hospital as an emergency or 911 because he suffers from congestive heart failure. They sent him to Jacobi Medical Center with out a discharge summary and not list of Meds. Then you call the nurses station so that they can at least fax over the info but that one was over there head.and no one knows anything, i had one nurse tell me and i quote ..You have to call back during the day for that info. Unbelievable..Do not take your love ones to this disaster of a place...
My Aunt spent about a month at Providence during her recovery from a broken hip. The staff was caring and thoughtful. My aunt was very happy with the care she recieved. In addition, the facility itself is beautiful. It is located on the Long Island Sound in the Country Club section of the Bronx. If you or a loved one require care, I would highly recommend Providence Rest.
Horrible facility. Poorly run, understaffed, don’t perform tasks as needed, and when you question this horrible facility? It’s everyones else’s fault. They may even blame you. That’s how incompetent this staff is. They don’t change patients, they don’t conduct speech therapy, and refused to set up a meeting when asked.Providence rest: take your family member here if you don’t care for them.
The billing statement comes with an envelope marked Archcare with a Lexington Avenue Address.This is a drop box. The company doing the billing is is in a residential house in Lakewood New Jersey.This is very misleading and dishonest to the family members.
My Mom was there for rehab. The place and location was beautiful, and staff were great especially the Sisters. Would definitely recommend!
THE LORD JESUS CHRIST WOULD NEVER CLOSE THE DOOR TO SOMEONE IN NEED...BUT UNFORTUNATELY THE STAFF AT PROVIDENCE REST DID CLOSE THE DOOR TO MY FATHER. IN A TIME OF NEED WORKING TO GET HIM BACK IN THE FACILITY TO CONTINUE HIS REHABILITATION WE WERE TOLD THROUGH A SOCIAL WORKER IT HAS BEEN DECIDED HE IS NO LONGER WELCOMED BACK....WHY??? I HOPE THEIR FAMILIES ARE NEVER TREATED THAT WAY!!! SHAME ON YOU PROVIDENCE REST!!!
My mother has been there various times for rehab, love this place, so does all my family who has visited her there.

2021-07-09Lets face it. Nursing homes all have their problems. This one has a history of exceptional service to the community. It is now no longer owned by the Catholic Church so it is run differently. The Sister Servants of Mary are still involved but the business end of it is out of their hands (from what I have heard). With that said they are still in a nice peaceful location, with no highways

2020-09-25My friends mother was there for over 2 years and died in the nursing home. There was no notification of her mom being gravely ill or notification of her death at the home. I was very assertive and called on her behalf to find out her moms status. Her doctor even told me that the patient was not her patient but the nurse called me back to let me know the doctor was her patient exactly one week before her death. Sister Josephine called the patients daughter to find out what she wanted to do with the patients account. She acknowledged that her daughter was a contact but not an emergency contact. I told her this is the first phone call of notification of her moms death. Sister Josephines response was that it was not her department to call. I only found out by being very assertive as her daughter just got a run around.

2019-01-16Dont be fooled by the look of this place, Im convinced they caused the death of my mother. The staff is totally indifferent and some are even rude, as is the doctor to the real needs of the residents. They also interfered with my moms physical therapy and drugged her to keep her quite and stuck her in the dining room all day. I spoke to staff, we had a meeting and they after claiming to make changes, they didnt. Mom got pneumonia and they ignored it for 5 days until I noticed it was more than a cold. It got worse the they shipped her to hospital in horrible condition where she died the next day. Stay clear of this place.

2019-06-06Dont let this place fool you. My grandmother is there for LTC. The water and the green grass are the only nice thing about this facility. They are such short staff on a daily basis. There are no activities for these residents, but a TV. The CNAs are so rude and nasty. They have no customer service and professionalism. If there nasty to family members imagine how they treat your loved one. There staff is always complaining how short they are and how downhill the place went since the new Administration took over. Dont put your loved one here. I wouldnt put my dead dog at this place. I cant wait to she is discharged.

2016-07-17This nursing home is a complete disaster. The nurses and social workers do not care for their patients or take any pride in their work. They lost my mothers dentures, and so she couldnt eat and was put on an IV of sugar and salt water. They did not even notice that she had lost her dentures just that she had stopped eating. The doctor said my mother would die in this manner if she did not get her dentures back and resume eating. I told the social worker EDWINA BROWN and she shrugged and said: so what? They are essentially murdering my mother. The head nurse TANISHA HART is a disgrace: she did nothing except check her cell phone and eat. When we asked for help, she never came and after complaining, she told the other nurses not to help my mother in any manner. There were help bells going off for 45 minutes with nurses just sitting around doing nothing and not going to the rooms to help people. There is absolutely no supervision. Do not send someone you love here. They will kill your loved one.

2016-11-22Leaving my grandmothers room, my vision was so obstructed by my crying that I tripped a nurse. I apologized through gasps of air. My grandmother is dying and I am not ready. The nurse knew both of these things. She took me to an empty room and held me as the snot and tears ran from my face to her chest. She didn’t say much, and frankly, there was nothing she could say.I watch my grandmother’s daughters angrily attack the staff because they can’t prevent her from dying. Its hard to accept that the people who spent their entire lives preparing us for this moment, the moment wed be forced to face the world without them, are in the final stage of abandonment.Dying is the last thing we do. My grandmother has made peace with this and maybe she even welcomes it. But I, along with my family, am not quite ready to accept it. I would like to thank the staff, and this one nurse in particular, for their warmth and attempts to help us make our own peace.

2019-03-19My father has been in there for a month. The therapy is substandard. All they do is quarantine patients so they stay in their room. Bored and unhappy.Can’t wait for him to be discharged.Just found out he’s being discharged tomorrow. Is now on oxygen 24 hours a day and nothing is set up for his home release. No oxygen no monitoring, no aide. And this is not an UNSAFE DISCHARGE. What a disgrace!

2016-04-21My Aunt has been here for over a year. They are UNDER staffed, supervised, and trained. She has literally waited over an hour to be helped out of the bathroom after pulling the chain. When they do her laundry, she gets clothes back with her name on it that arent hers. If they cant do the simple things, how do they do their primary job of taking care of the elderly?
