The worst experience ever! STAY AWAY from this place! We made a mistake buying a puppy at this store. The puppy we got was calm when we were buying it, but become very aggressive a short while after. We suspect that they gave the puppy some medicine or calming agent for him to calm down. Also they misrepresented the dogs breed. We paid $5.5K for a Pomeranian to learn later that its a Mixed Breed dog (obtained the DNA test by a reputable company that partners with Cornell University). The pedigree that they provided is printed in Korea and is not associated with any American kennel clubs or association. The dog has behavior issues, bites us for no reason even after a full dog training course (multiple private sessions). We cant brush, wash or touch the dog without being bitten. Today the dog bit me so much that I had to get medical help at the Urgent Care and have to see a specialist. We had another dog for over 13 years and never had any issues or complaints - the dog was healthy and purebred. I wish we read the true online reviews before we went to this place. The store manager Jun is very rude and unprofessional, she allows herself to hang up the phone on customers after the transaction is over! She lies that she calls back and doesnt return the phone calls. It seems that the owner(s) dont care either as we are trying to resolve this issue for a few months already and they are ignoring it.ITS ALL ABOUT THE MONEY FOR THEM. ITS NOT ABOUT THE DOGS OR THE PEOPLE.
I love my pup with my whole heart but I do not recommend going to this store AT ALL. They are sketchy and sneaky. They will lie to you just to sell you the dog.I regret not doing enough research before getting my pom here but at the same time I feel like I rescued her from this place. Please avoid this breeder and also GET PET INSURANCE RIGHT AWAY.
I was a bit skeptical after reading their reviews, but Puptown exceeded my expectations. We got our apricot poodle from Puptown and could not have had a better experience. Our puppy is amazing - we actually thought they trained him because he has been so extremely well behaved. He hasn’t had an accident since he’s been in our care - goes on the wee wee pad like he had been for years. He does not cry during the night like many puppies. And he just has the sweetest temperament. We were nervous about being new dog parents and went back to Puptown with what we thought was an issue (turned out to be shaking because the pup was nervous in a new environment) and they were so incredibly supportive. They even had their vet check him out and give him his last round of shots.Overall, great experience. I understand the want to adopt, but If you are like us with severe allergies, Puptown is a really great option and they really take care of the puppies in their care.
If I could give zero stars I would, walked passed this pet store with my girl friend and the lady working was so rude. This is all while standing outside because you have to make an appointment to come in, so we just wanted to ask a question first. This is after the fact we called them while we were outside. I see a lot reviews about their Customer service skills being horrific, indeed it is definitely wouldn’t be making appointment to come here.
I’m totally in love with my puppy which I got a month ago from Puptown. I had 0 issues with him, he was potty TRAINED prior, I was amazed and really happy! He’s very energetic and his personality is very very friendly, he acts very nicely when he’s out on a walk and sees other dogs. We had the standard puppy issues and Puptown was very responsive and acted very responsible when they were helping us.
Absolutely love our dog and do not regret our purchase because we basically saved him from this place. When I took him to the vet, they said he was extremely malnourished, legs and paws were crooked from being confined in such a small space for so long. I was also given an invalid rabies certificate, and when I called, they werent helpful about it at all. He also had mange, which is really bad and highly contagious - not to mention extremely costly. So not only are you spending a lot of money at a store, but the aftermath of these poor dogs is not worth it. If you want a dog, go to a breeder instead.
We got a puppy from this breeder before they became puptown NYC. None of the vaccine dates lined up of when our dog came to the US from South Korea. It actually said he got vaccines in South Korea after the date that he got to the US. I asked the “breeder” and was given a shady answer. We werent really even sure if his birthday was true at that point since he was extremely underweight , but he also was only being fed 2 tablespoons of food a day when we gotHim (what he told us to feed him, we didn’t). We were never able to find the vet that apparently gave our dog the vaccines in South Korea , and our vet had to redo all of them in an abundance of cautiousness. Our vet was the one who raised the red flags since he knew a lot more than us about the topic. We had our suspicions but he verified them. Although we love our dog dearly and wouldnt go back, please be cautious of buying a dog from here. Please research about puppies coming from South Korea. You will not like what you find, I’m not even sure if he tells people where they come from anymore. We did not research before( we didnt know where our pup came from till we got there) and now that we do know, we wont be doing that again. I truly hope things have changed for the better, but I just wanted to share our experience with the same “breeder” when it was under a different name and in NJ. Cautiousness should be practiced when buying a puppy from a pet store!
We got our puppy from here and the people are so sweet. We live close by and saw that they treat their puppies really well. Since we got our puppy during COVID, a lot of vets arent doing wellness checks, so they offered their vet who comes every Sunday to check out our dog! Hes been really healthy and only had stomach issues when we switched from the food they recommended. The place is impeccably clean (rarely do you walk into a pet place that doesnt smell) and they really love their dogs. My dog gets so excited whenever he walks by, he recognizes both of the people who took care of him and truly loves them. Hes a shiba inu, so its very rare he shows this type of emotion.I spoke with another couple who also got their puppy here, the store even let their puppy come back for puppy play dates until it had all of its shots for socializing. They are truly kind and thoughtful and care deeply for their dogs. Im really happy with my puppy and the quality of service, and would return again for a little brother or sister for my dog!
Typically it’s really hard for me to give a negative review but I feel as if I needed to. We went by this pet store and my heart shattered into pieces seeing these puppies in a box, like in mini prisons. Most of them look so desperate to want to get out. I think the biggest challenge is they are so overpriced even if you want to purchase I can’t imagine how long these puppies have been trapped in this cage. This is horrible. If I could make a difference by this review in hopes that they change how the puppies live!
Totally wonderful experience. the shop is clean and well appointed. we bought a wonderful healthy well adjusted pup--Loulou!service was attentive and informative. all shots up to date with dates for future boosters given proper food for several days leashes and a bed made bringing home baby a snap.
My boyfriend and I were walking by and saw the cutest puppy in the window. We have been talking about getting another animal so we figured we would walk in and ask. The woman behind the counter told us they are by appointment only. That is totally fine and given Covid understandable. The part we had an issue with was how rude she was. I made a joke that with all that cutness in the window we had to walk in and apologized. She gave us the nastiest attitude. So nasty I was prompted to post this review while standing right outside her shop. Ugh stay away. Go up another block or two where you will find another pet shop with much friendlier service!
I came at the end of the day and they were very rude/curt. I’ve never had a customer service experience like that before. I was interested in one of the dogs, and it took ten minutes to get someone and they were rude about it. I would’ve rather they just told me “we’re closing, could you come back tomorrow?” I usually don’t write negative reviews, but left feeling like I’d been treated very negatively.
NEVER BRING YOUR DOG HERE. OUR DOG IS CURRENTLY MISSING DUE TO PUPTOWNS UNQUALIFIED STAFF AND LACK OF CARE FOR ANIMALS. They informed us that our puppy whom they were grooming had run out the door 2 hours prior to the call and that they have done NOTHING about it. They instructed us to make sure she wasn’t wearing a collar when we dropped her off and how she is missing with no collar. SHUT THIS PLACE DOWN. We are heart broken. If I could give them zero stars I would.
We are very disappointed and sad to write this review. If you are interested in purchasing a mini Shiba Inu from them or a miniature breed from them, PLEASE BE VERY CAREFUL!!!!In the process of getting to be bottom of our puppys breed, Puptown falsely advertised, lied to our face, and kept changing their claims about the weight of the dog. Also, likely, they are intentionally starving the puppies to pass them off as miniature breeds for profit. We found out the Puptown offers mame Shiba Inu and they claimed that the final weight of the dog will be 8-10lbs. He has grown to 12lbs in only 4 months and continues to grow. We have talked to the vet and the vet said he will likely to be 18lbs to so.So when I confronted Puptown about the issue and asked about the parents. They claimed that his parents are 12 and 14lbs and provided pictures. However, a simple google image search found that the images are from a Japnese blog page from 2014 stating this full-size Shiba Inu (NOT MAME) name to be Tetsu Shikou was born in 2001 March 21st. It was very sketchy and nothing what they appeared to be.Reading the other reviews on yelp about undernourished puppies, its hard to not conclude that to keep their puppies a certain weight, they have been underfeeding the puppies to make up for the claim that they are selling miniature breeds with no regard of the puppies welfare in the name of profit.
I wanted a small dog under 5 lbs . But I saw a super cute puppy around 2-3 lbs , the maneger told me , the dog will be 7-10 lbs max ! So I decided to take the dog home. Hoping he will be only 7 lbs . I was feeding right amount as doctor told .40 days later ,The dog is 8 lbs . .doctor said he will be at least 17 lbs . Then I talk to the maneger , she doesn’t admit she said it . Then she explained dog will be 10-13 lbs ,. Later 10-15 lbs . I guess they only care about $$ , they don’t care if this dog will be with me 10 years plus !!! Also they starving their dog ,to keep it small !!!! get your dog from breeder online !!!! stay away from pet store !!!!!!!! it’s so wrong that they lied ! Having a pet is long term commitment! they shouldn’t have made false statement!
Incredibly sad to see how these dogs are kept. I walked by and there was a couple hysterically crying because they lost their dog. This place is shady and its visible the animals are not properly cared for. Please consider buying from a reputable breeder or even better rescue. Very sad to see animals being treated / traded this way.
How disturbing it was to see these little pups confined like a high end fashion accessory all day. I’m am disgusted with anyone who cannot see their “boutique” style store is attempting to appeal to manhattanites while the neglect to these pups is apparent! If you care about animal, you would avoid this store and find a more reputable pet store!

2021-11-27Our daughter first introduced us to Puptown, as she discovered the grooming services for our 12 year old, very delicate teacup poodle, Coco. Coco hates grooming, so much so, that whenever we walked past her former groomer, she would plant her little 4lb body, refusing to go near the front of the building, in fear that we were taking her for grooming. No longer does Coco protest grooming since Puptown has taken our pet and given her tender attention and caring grooming practices. When we arrive to pick her up from her appointments, she is very calmly and contently waiting in one of the temperature controlled boxes, adorably coifed. I do not work for Puptown, I am only a thrilled customer with a pet that no longer fears grooming.

2022-04-26Puppies do not belong in cages. We asked the owner about how much time they get outside their tiny cages and were assured that they receive plenty of play time, but looking at the puppies makes it very apparent that they are restless and in desperate need of contact and space. Establishments like these should not exist in the 21st century.

2022-04-13Me and my family had been talking about getting a dog so I said sure... we can go look at getting a puppy but dont get your hopes up we are NOT getting a dog. When I saw my puppy it was love at first sight. Besides that the workers were so sweet we went to talk about getting the puppy and when we get back they were already closing but they let us back in. We asked so many questions and they had all the answers. I would totally say yes if someone wanted to go there. If it werent for puptown I wouldnt have Baby My wonder love puppy.

2022-05-29We’ve had a Shih-Tzu for two years now, from puptown. She is happy and healthy, now about 11 pounds, and well-tempered. Her initial vet visits were fine, and were actually for some accidental abrasions to her eye from other puppies — so although some of the reviews from non-customers complain about the separation, we would have actually preferred her to be more separate (but we understand that the dogs are well-socialized after hours). The store did a great job getting her eye looked at by a vet before we picked her up actually. The store was clean, the appointments were unrushed, and the doggie DNA test we obtained suggests that these dogs are actually obtained from a humane source, to address the legitimate concerns of some of the other non-customer reviewers (and I’ll leave it at that). The display cases are what they are, but the main thing to note is that the facilities are well-kept and quite clean, and that they do actually care well for these puppies as they await new owners. The NY Dept of Agriculture and Markets regularly inspects this store, about twice a year, and the reports are publicly available online (seven to date). The other reviewers concerned about animal welfare have very good hearts, but that anger is probably misplaced here. For those interested in purchasing a dog from a store, yes, there are probably other breeders and such that frankly run the risk of being more puppy mills; we have reason to believe that this store is probably doing things right, and have a healthy and well-adjusted dog to show for it.

2022-02-26I have taken my puppy grooming here multiple times it was an amazing experience. They treat me with respect every time I take my dog grooming. I for sure recommend coming here because it is nice and clean and I haven’t had problems at all, after all the times I have visited. Have a nice day everyone.

2022-06-05I walked in, and asked very nicely, hey where do you get the puppies from? He said very defensively good breeders. I said cool. Do they get to run around. He said coldly all the time. I said how often. He said why are you coming at me like this those aren’t the right questions. I said those are completely normal things to ask about as someone who wants a good dog. Anyways he was extremely aggressive and defensive and was like you don’t think I care about my dogs you’re coming at me blabla I say so gently sir I’m not coming at you these are questions all owners should ask. He was awful. And it’s a valid question seeing dogs in tiny cages

2021-06-05First grooming experience for my Pom today. She is a rescue who’s super anxious around any strangers, had an ear surgery a couple months ago so her fur was uneven from the shave for her operation, and can be mean. So happy to see my baby girl hopping around with her summer cut. We’ve had grooming visits where she comes out shaking but this time she seemed to have enjoyed her beauty appointment, which is rare for her. We’ll definitely be going back!

2022-03-04Absolutely disgusting. People who get their dogs from places like this should not be allowed to own one. The puppys are kept in a small, glass box, showcased like a golden bracelet. I walked past to hear a woman yelling from the outside, show me its eyes!. Gross. Please please please, adopt or find an alternative to this inhumane, awful puppy store.

2020-06-12I never bought a puppy at this store, and I never will. These puppies live in solitary confinement, one pup per cage, with no contact, 11am - 8pm, seven days a week. They are way to young to be separated from their mothers. They are displayed as if they are accessories. Yes, the store is clean, but look at how the animals are treated. And ask the owner where the puppies are coming from!!!!!!This is cruel animal abuse.

2021-11-17It’s 2021. How are people still going to pet stores to get their dogs? If you don’t feel comfortable adopting, then find a responsible breeder that you can visit in person. You will get a happier and healthier puppy and NOT SUPPORT PUPPY MILLS! People who care about dogs do not sell them in retail store fronts to anyone who’s willing to pay for one. Please educate yourself.
