I am SOOOO happy I went here! Im actually from Florida and had a little trip up to Buffalo for the weekend and HAD to visit a plant place! The plant looks a bit rough in my photo (but thats from the long flights home). The staff was very kind and the amount of plants they had was INSANE!!! Definitely remembering to come back to visit this place when I return! :)
This store has beautiful plants and cute birds I absolutely love the plants I purchased and cant wait to go back The guy who cashed me out was very nice and wrote down care instructions for me I have another plant that I cant stop thinking about so Im going back this weekend
My favorite plant store! Have been there quite a few times and can always find something to take home. There is always a great vibe and a friendly staff waiting to give you any advice or encouragement when picking out a plant. Also love that they carry so much plant related art and things made by local artists! They always make sure to put out a quality product. The owner and staff all have great expertise and advice, which I have greatly appreciated as someone who only started their plant journey during quarantine. I definitely recommend following them on social media so you dont miss any rare plant drops, or just a normal plant youve had on your wishlist. If they dont have the plant you want, you can write it on their wishlist and they will call you when they have it in. They have done a great job with covid precautions and being extremely transparent about what theyre doing to stop the spread and keep their store safe. Also love their post it initiative, as well as their basket of cuttings that you can take to propogate! They really are invested in the community and just want to spread their love of plants. Plus they allow dogs. Whats not to love?
My favorite place on Elmwood! Always welcoming, friendly, and helpful. I never walk out empty handed or dissatisfied in any way. Their selection is plentiful and nearly every plant is eye catching. Bonus points for Papaya, their sweet little yellow birdie who is worth the visit in herself ❤
Yesterday, I brought in my Grammas aglaonema to Put A Plant On It. This plant lived with my Gramma in her 1800s farm house, and then moved with her into a memory care facility. Sadly, she passed in 2014 and her plant came to Buffalo to live with my Mom. I asked my Mom if I could borrow the plant for the day, and brought her in for Kayleigh to take a look at. She treated this very sentimental plant so lovingly and carefully! She was able to isolate a piece of the plant and its roots, put it in some good fresh soil and a smaller pot, and give it to me so I could have a piece of my Grammas plant for my very own. Then she took the mother plant and rinsed off the old, wet, mud; and put it back into the original pot my Gramma had it in with fresh, healthy soil. What was one plant that my Gramma loved is now two plants that continue to be loved by my mother and me. Thank you so much for your care, skill, and understanding! Here she is..the tall Gal in the back!
I had the most amazing experience today! This store is so cute!! Michaela spent so much time with me, educating me about my sick prayer plant, and then helped me pick out a new perfect plant for my house and low light situation. I will definitely be back! Thanks so much.
The store is very small but has a variety of beautiful plants even tho prices were high on plants I walked in and said to myself I was spending 100.00 dollars max. Until I seen the energy there . Walked in with my daughter noticed we were the only ones not greeted. There was 3 employees none of them acknowledged us ,they were very talkative with the other people that walked in and answering all there questions . I asked about a specific plant they had that looked difficult which the answer was “I don’t know,I’m not an Orchid specialist I only know how I’d take care of it “ lol no interest in helping me . I wanted to walk out but the selection they had was amazing ended up spending 43.50 with a hand written note on how to care for one of the plants , Felt so embarrassed wanted to cry when my daughter asked why were we treated that way. Hope this review helps the business in a positive way. Don’t judge a customer for there appearance or nationality and give everyone the same customer service . Thank you .
I had an emergency, when I dropped my agave and broke its pot. I took it to Put a Plant On It, they showed me pots which would be perfect for the plant and re-potted it. My little agave plant was saved thanks to them!As a bonus I played with the cuttiest parrot, named Pineapple while waited for my plant to be ready. I might move to Buffalo only because of this shop 🖤
Personally I had a great experience here. The second I walked in I was greeted and asked if I was looking for anything specific and the vibe of the store was nice. I like going to shop where I don’t feel judged and It was just very welcoming and had a great selection to choose from. The only negative was there was a lot to choose from it took me forever !! I like how they pride themselves in having local artisans, it’s important in today’s time. Overall this is a nice place to shop when you want a nice house plant : )
This place has quickly became one of my favorite local shops around. I appreciate the placement of the plants in the store by lighting needs. Once you are made aware of this, narrowing down your new green friend based on your home lighting conditions become easier.I see quite a few people stating that there aren’t enough “rare” houseplants. If you follow their social media accounts, they tell you exactly when rare plants arrive and what rare finds they are meticulously caring for in their greenhouse ready to be released later in the year. Rare plants are rare for a reason. If they were easily accessible by the owner or nurseries, they wouldn’t be rare. Some items are expensive, but there ARE affordable plants for everyone and even free ones through the “pay it forward” initiative they have for people who would love a plant but can’t afford one. It’s a shop on Elmwood. Business owners deserve to be compensated for their time, effort, sourcing of plants and accessibility for people who don’t have the time or the means to travel to plant nurseries in Amherst. This place has something for everyone. To Expert plant owners, plant newbies, art enthusiasts and jewelry lovers.
Took a propagation class here recently, and it was great! I’ve already been a long time fan of the store and was very excited to take a day to learn. I’ve never been very good at propagation before, and I learned so much! The store owner, who was the one teaching the class, brought in plants from her own collection as examples to help with instruction. I’m excited to put my new skills into action - I already feel more confident with my success in the future now. I would definitely sign up for another class here someday!
I found this plant shop on Instagram and I was very excited to make an hour trip there with a friend only to be very disappointed. Although I was in awe of the selection of beautiful plants the customer service was poor. There were three employees and none of them offered assistance until I had to ask. Half of the items didn’t have prices on them. Check out took forever because they were to enthralled with a new bird in the shop. Lastly, I didn’t even get a thank you for spending my money there. I feel if you are a small business owner you could at least give a thank you.
Not only does this store have any plant your heart could possibly desire, but some of the friendliest faces I’ve encountered! The staff is knowledgeable and extremely kind! I love all the local artists that are featured in this little space as well, it’s great to see small businesses helping out others 💛 I’ll definitely be back again to shop and have recommended this as theeeeeee local plant shop to my family and friends! Keep on being amazing!
I go to Put A Plant On It probably once every 2 weeks. Ive never had a negative experience. Every person that works there is helpful and knowledgeable. Im constantly up to date on their inventory from their Instagram account and know when the shipments come in. Theyre so supportive within the community as well. Im moving and PaPOI was nice enough to let me snag some boxes to transport my plant babies (all of which Ive purchased from them of course). They even have a punch card to fill out when you spend a certain amount ! Probably my favorite store in Buffalo❤️
I can’t speak highly enough of this shop. Every time I’ve visited, I’ve been greeted by super kind staff who are eager to answer my questions and offer suggestions. The owner Johanna is a wealth of knowledge when it comes to plants, and I always relish in the chance to pick her ear when I stop by.They have a great variety of plants, from your basic easy going starter plants to gorgeous, hard to find rare plants. I could go on with the other perks of this shop like the make your own soil bar (they will even repot for you) to their plant sitting services, but you should probably stop by for yourself to see all of the other amazing services and products they offer!
Got my ivy plant ragh the destroyer there! I loved the birds, highly recommended, will put plants in the pots you buy, birb enjoy pat, give birb pat. The atmosphere is great, I felt like I could spend hours there. I would willingly go up to buffalo from Akron specifically to go here. If you dont go youre missing out!
Absolutely amazing staff and great quality plants! They csre for them like no other shop i have been in. I just love the whole vibe, just walking in. Been wanting to go for so long and finally made it in there! You wont be disappointed! Any questions theyre there to help and on social media theyre always helping with plants at your home you need advice with! Its great to see buissnesses caring so much about there customers and quality of there plants as well! Thank you for everything today. I was overjoyed finding the monstera today and nanouk as well as striny of tears and an awesome book! Cant wait to read!♡♡♡♡
This has QUICKLY become my favorite plant store. Their selection is great, and they are a fabulous resource for plant care. I’ve gotten several plants from them and they are all beautiful and healthy. Today I picked up a huge philodendron Brazil and a pot from a local artist. The prices were reasonable and Falcor is my toddler’s bestie
This is a gem of a plant store for plant lovers and rare plant enthusiasts! They had hoya types I havent found in stores, and also various sizes of each plant to suit the needs of any plant lover! I got a dragon scale alocasia! They also are incredibly friendly and knowledgeable of the plants they are selling, offering personalized hand written instructions to take home for plant beginners! Say hi to Papaya the bird and Falcor the lizard up at the check out, completing the perfect ambience for a plant store!
My absolute favourite plant shop. I by no means need anymore plants but I still find myself visiting this store at least once a month for either a guilty plant purchase or necessary supplies to feed my obsession. What sets this store apart from the rest is the more rare or uncommon varieties this owner is able to secure and is a great advocate for the wny community.
The only plant nursery that I have been to and keep going back to because of the friendly nature and the knowledge of the staff. Very easy to work with and reasonable prices! They have an Instagram page you can follow and Facebook page where you can also ask any question and theyll answer. They bring a very individual experience when possible and you feel part of the community there. Thank you.
Im a plant collector. I have a green thumb, green arm, green everything. Lots of experience with plants and thats how I know these ladies know their stuff. If you have anything bad to say about them youre clearly a hater. They have plants for all levels from plant newb to plant God. Theres some really rare joints like monstera esqueleto, anthurium Black beauty, paraiso Verde just to name a few and some unique variegations Ive never seen before. They clearly try to go out of their way to converse with every person that walks in their shop but theyre very busy and theres people constantly hovering and trying to talk their ears off forever including me because they are a wealth of information!
First time buying a plant, so I wasnt sure what to expect, but the cashier was very helpful! They helped me figure out what plant was best suited for me and sent me home with info on the plant so that I could do some research myself. The staff are kind and knowledgeable and Im more than satisfied with my purchase!
Over priced and the owner will sell you toxic plants, don’t go if you’re expecting actual help. I asked for help to make sure my plant was safe to come home yet upon more research it’s horrible for my cat. Beyond frustrated and will never be back. Now stuck with a $45 plant that I can’t keep in my house.
My favorite place to get plants & plant related things! Johanna is always making sure she’s getting in everyone’s favorites and is super receptive to suggestions. I also love that there are local artists with all different kinds of gifts and things! If there’s a plant I’m looking for, I’ll bet it’s either in the store or on its way!
I would have given this store 5 stars but today I was made to feel as if my questions on which products I should use were bothersome. Both employees in the store seemed to be unenthused to be there or help. I have never had this experience there outside of one other time a year ago. I prefer to only come here when the owner is working. If I see these two without the owner there I will not subject myself to being in their presence and leave.
Stopped in as I was passing through the city as I’m not here much. Nice shop, owner wasn’t in to speak with. Prices were slightly high, but I assume that’s due to being downtown. Nice variety. Shop has a very “loud” vibe. Very chaotic and colorful. Felt slightly pressured to make a purchase. I personally prefer the quiet/quaint type of shop that’s more low key.
Exceptionally friendly & knowledgeable staff, good & affordable selection for everyone. Theres plants for the new plant parent and rare plants grown by them personally. These go quick though so keep an eye on their stories or join their insider club to find out when theyre released or what they are. Hosts PlantSide Chat every other Sunday to share knowledge and help people. Lots of giving initiatives. Pay-with-a-post-it allows people who otherwise cant afford a plant to get a plant. Donate to rescues and nonprofits regularly. Truly an exemplary shop and welcome addition to Elmwood and Buffalo. Much needed.
I was interested in seeing this place open after the mass self promotion on Facebook. I’m an avid collector and seeing the owners personal collection, I felt the shop left something to be desired. I thought this would have more rare plants for the serious connoisseur. Stock is no different than other plant shop AND more expensive. Disappointed to see how few options there are below $25. I was given some advice on a monstera that I’ve never heard before. Frankly, and I hate to say this, it seemed wrong and I would never do that to my monstera 😂 The shop just opened so I’ll give it the benefit of the doubt - it’s new. But I’ll be keeping an eye out to see what changes.
This place is very expensive for how sad everything looked. Everything was limp like it needed water. All the monsteras had damaged leaves and broken branches. I couldn’t find one w/o damage and was really disappointed cuz that’s what I came for. Plants were knocked over dirt was spilled everywhere. Potting station was empty and buried in bags of stuff so unusable. Staff just stared from behind the counter and never said a word.

2022-02-25Awesome plant shop with a huge selection of well chosen and cared for plants! The staff are super helpful and glad to answer any questions and guide you towards the best plant. Lots of rarer and hard to find plants as well. All of the locally made pottery is awesome too! Would definitely recommend checking them out and taking home a new plant from them!

2021-09-26Very friendly as well as informative staff. They let me browse even though it was after 5. They also have a free section of rehab plants. One of my favorite things to do is try and bring a plant back to health. The plant by itself is the rehab.

2022-08-03I had gone in a couple times over the years to pick up a cute plant present for a friend, and its always been a good experience. However, this time I went in wanting to really spruce up (no pun intended) a bare corner of my relatively dark bedroom. Knowing nothing about plants, the staff were incredibly helpful in picking out gorgeous plants that fit my needs. In addition to plant experts, they were also expert interior designers. They even helped me get my plants home a couple blocks away! I couldnt be happier with the plants, the service, and the whole experience!

2022-02-16I really liked this shop and found the staff all very friendly and helpful until I got my monstera home only to realize that it was infected with Rust spots. Assuming majority of their plants in there are infected given how bad mine is. I now have to deal with trying to rid all of my plants which have never had issues before that got infected by the one plant I bought from them. I enjoy the store and the energy there but they never warned me of the infestation and now Im worried for my other plants that have caught the spores. Be sure to check all your leaves before bringing the plant home and isolate it for a while before putting it near other plants, wish I wouldve been warned of this prior to spending what I felt was an already high price on an infected plant.

2022-02-26Love going here to browse the huge plant selection and to see the locally made artisan products. Staff is very knowledgeable and they have a lot of cool unique services including classes, a reverse osmosis water club, plant sitting, pay for someones plant, and a potting station to name a few. They have a very interactive Instagram page where I learn a lot, get updates about their current stock and new releases, do giveaways and they post lots of informative videos too! Lastly, this small-business also loves giving back to the community and they support diversity and social justice 🥰

2022-05-21Wonderful store. Really cool vibes. The staff is super friendly and knowledgeable. They also have a couple of really chill, pretty exotic birds as sort of greeters. Elmwood gem! Got to check it out!👍
