Grest diner, lots to choose from, huge menu. Easy and spacious parking. Favorite part was the large fish in the pond. Very family oriented, when the owner told us that his grandson made all the very impressive Lego scenes...it hit home for me! Cant wait to go back, highly recommend. A++
Food was okay, only thing that didnt deliver was the fruit bowl which is surprising because all they need to do is cut fruits into small pieces and serve them. Tables were clean, but the bathroom wasnt. Servers were attentive and nice. Service was fast and accurate. Prices are what youd expect for a diner.
Excellent place to eat! The food is really good and the wait staff is very friendly. I had the turkey club with fries and coke slaw; the matzo ball soup was wonderful with tasty broth and little pieces of chicken in it! Their coffee is among the best I’ve ever had and they keep the place clean which is important since we’re still in the age of COVID. Plenty of parking, too and a very extensive menu; highly recommended!
Clean, local diner along Rt. 22. We had breakfast for dinner (breakfast is served 24 hrs) Really good large stackGot a side of bacon which was a generous serving-crispy and tasty. Service was very good. Cute koi pond outside. Interior is dark and dated-otherwise a nice place.
Place used to be great. Now it’s food is not so good, coffee was never filled once until we got our check, breakfast didn’t come with what was included ie Toast. I had to get up and find the waiter to ask for it. They cheap out on the sides, now instead of two sausage you get 1 or maybe they messed that up too. Waiter never came back until check. Idk but this place is not what it used to be.
Not a bad place at all. Standard diner fair. My wifes burger was pretty good, and my gyro was alright. My kids chicken tenders and fries were probably the highlight of the meal. Next time I eat here Ill probably just go with that. The waitress was very nice and the service was good. Everyone here is very nice and its close to home, so its going to be a repeat in our dining repertoire
My husband and I skipped the cooking this Thanksgiving as it was just the two of us. As a kind gesture, our neighbor purchased two turkey dinners for from the Putnam Diner for my husband and myself. At first, we were wary, but we were pleasantly surprised. The meal was comparable to a homemade dinner, down to the gravy. It included white and dark meat turkey, gravy, stuffing, whipped mashed potatoes, corn, cranberry sauce, salad and a piece of pie. If you decide to order out for Thanksgiving, I highly recommend.
Went for an easy plate of pancakes, bacon and eggs and wasnt disappointed! They gave a pretty generous amount of bacon, the eggs were as requested, and the pancakes were great! They had pumpkin spiced pancakes as a seasonal special and they were really good, even had walnuts in there. Their coffee is nice but the highlight for me was their milkshake. Nearly perfect thickness and topped nicely with whipped cream. This diner is a winner in my book! Cant wait to go back!
Quite honestly, we stopped here because the service station across the street lacked a public restroom. We made an obligatory purchase of two muffins. Based on those -- which were absolutely great -- and the overall friendliness of the staff with whom we dealt, I give this place a full 5 stars. I dont get to Putnam very often, but I would visit this diner again if I were in the neighborhood.
Went in on whim. Came out satisfied. Had a decent selection to choose from and was happy with the food, and the service. There are 2 parking lots one small and the other big. But they are not connected together, which is a shame. If you are not familiar with the area and pull into the small lot by mistake you have to drive off the lot and head back on to the main road to get to the larger lot. Overall glad we stopped by to eat.
Ordered a rib eye steak dinner ... have to say it was the best Steak dinner I have had in a very , long time . I ordered for pickup and live 20 minutes away so my expectation was low , but the results were overwhelming !! My steak was perfectly cooked and packaged , and was warm when I got home . I am a frequent diner at Putnam Diner for years and always enjoy my meal , however tonight’s steak take out was outstanding . I highly recommend Putnam Diner for both in-house dining and Takeout
Friendly service, excellent food, reasonable prices, and extensive menu make this a good stop on your way to or from the Berkshires. Chicken noodle soup and Manhattan clam chowder were excellent, as was the half sandwich with melon. Manager generously gave us bag of ice to put over sore knee.Highly recommended diner!
Very home town and down to earth type diner. All day breakfast menu type place. Food was good for the type of place and the staff was friendly. Just knocked off a star because a staff member took a smoke break as we were leaving and we passed through his smoke zone before realizing it. Triggered an asthma attack which is never cool. Maybe take it out back next time where customers arent affected.
Food and service was good. Only problem was that the hot water in restroom was scalding and hurt both my and my 7 year old daughters hands. When I informed the manager he insisted that they are required to have the water come out at at least 200 degrees (212 degrees is boiling). Nice place otherwise but we wont be going back.
This place is old school but very good. Me and my wife shared the buffalo wings and they were delicious. That says alot considering I have very high standards for my wings. The staff was very nice considering we arrived at 11pm. Big menu with alot to choose from and reasonably priced.
Historical Diner that feels like a Restaurant. Seated quickly although busy and I came for their crisp fruit pancakes and my partner got the 3 egg omelette with Spanish and feta cheese. Oh my. Fast and friendly service, people come from the surrounding towns to eat homestyle cooking.
Service was prompt but the food was poor and a disappointment. We have been going there since the mid 80 S and my wifes French toast was soggy and her Turkey sausage was jimmy deans Brown and serve links instead of a real casing sausage like they use to have. My waffle wasnt crisp and my Canadian bacon was just warmed ham slices one more strike and thats it for us
My sister came in from Florida to help me plan my wedding. Its a very happy yet stressful time ! From the time she landed Tuesday night we have been stopping at the Putnam Diner to regroup and relax and enjoy a meal and a cocktail! We were greeted as if we were family! After our third time in there we were greeted with welcome back girls!! Well tonight after a day of shopping and planning we decided to stop in once again for just a drink this time. We were greeted by a wonderful man who said 2 Long Islands tonight girls?! In a world where you are just a number it is so wonderful that these people in the Putnam Diner recognize and acknowledge their customers! Thank you to everyone who made this time special for us! See you in September! !
Treated our group of 49 very well with fast, friendly service. Breads and sweets baked fresh daily. Big servings at lunch. Had the chocolate mouse cake, and yes, its mouse, not mousse- a light chocolate sponge, with an airy mousse filling, topped with chocolate ganache and little mice. Cute and delicious. Would go again. Whole group full and happy.
There isnt a spectacular restaurant scene in this area, but this diner does the job with about a thousand selections of regular sandwiches and American entrees. Ive popped in here for soup (totally serviceable) and a burger, which comes with fries that beat expectations. Shop the salad... Cuz. Lots of cakes on offer.
It was great! Dont worry, the bathroom is clean now. I think the person who said it was filthy and smelly was there before they cleaned it. There are great deals! If you order from the kids menu you can get Ice cream, pudding, and other desserts and you can get milk or soda as a add on. Plus, all these add ons are FREE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Great staff, good food & coffee. They took great care of us when we were without power for 3 days aft a NorEaster felled tree & closed our major road. Some of us drove from the other end of Havilland Hollow Rd, all the way around Putnam Lake...just for hot coffee, electric to charge our cells and breakfast or dinner. They all saved the day, or three days.!
Sorry this is my 4th time coming here 2 times food was ok this last time got 2 salads one with chicken one with shrimp the one whoth shrimp had to be returned there was a termite in it. My salad with the chicken chicken way over cooked lacking taste the the dressing was all wrong as i was finishing salad noticed a grey hair in it disgusting never again they made uo wait way too long to bring new salad and they didnt even discount meal pathetic buyer beware
Growing up in Brooklyn and visiting all the Greek diners that we had that was part of our culture growing up the food was great and the service was great this place falls way short of those expectations mediocre at best the funny part is Greeks on it I was expecting more very disappointing

2022-05-30SLOW, SLOWER, SLOWEST !! Stopped here as a party of 5 at 10:30am Memorial Day for breakfast. Seating was no problem as the diner was at most 1/3rd capacity. After being quickly seated it took 20 minutes to place our order, I swear they were waiting on the chickens to lay their eggs as our breakfast didn’t come until almost an hour after placing our order. This was by far the slowest place I have ever dined at for breakfast. From the time we walked in until we walked out TWO HOURS ! Food was bland, long wait, dirty tables … I surely won’t be back !

2021-03-21Absolutely amazing service. Our waiter was very attentive and friendly. Everytime we go out to eat they either get one of our orders wrong or they arent as welcoming or they take too long. This place was just Absolutely amazing. Nothing negative to say. And the food was delicious. !!

2022-04-14Ordered French toast, one of the pieces was cut unevenly in half and when I put the 2 pieces together they didnt match the size of a full piece of bread. Seems like one of the chefs got hungry. :/
