We were allowed an in-person compassionate visit with full PPE. My mom is failing and it was comforting to hold her hand and try to communicate with her in person. The receptionist and social workers were very accommodating and empathetic. Being in the lobby behind a screen was better than a window visit. The place is clean and pleasant and my mom is treated well. She is always clean and nicely dressed. We feel like she is in good hands.
Regarding visits - I understand the problem of visiting during covid and I appreciate all the precautions Putnam Ridge is taking to try to keep the facility safe. In most cases bringing the resident to the great room is perfectly fine, but some residents could use more privacy, The facility is very nice and so is the staff. They are very friendly and helpful. Very clean facility in a beautiful location.
My father stayed here for seven nights respite while I took a vacation. Overall his stay was satisfactory. The admissions director ask me a lot of questions regarding his likes and dislikes, his habits and routines, and I appreciated her gathering a lot of information. My fathers nurse did the same thing and I appreciated his interest. The facility was clean. My fathers skin gets flaky when it is not washed for several days and his ears were flaky when I picked him up. The rest of his body seemed ok. Most of the staff was friendly and warm. There was a couple who were mean, nasty, and rude. While at Putnam Ridge my father slid out of his wheelchair. The staff immediately contacted my family members and let them know that this happened. I appreciated the staffs quick response to let us know this happened.
My family and I will be forever grateful for the compassion shown to our dad in his last moments in this life. Diagnosed with late-stage Alzheimers disease, he was admitted to PR Apple Unit in April 2019 and sadly he passed away a few days ago. It is not a merciful death and the suffering at times is unbearable and yet PR and particularly the staff on Apple Unit (June, Breda, Diane, Josh and countless others) showed such kindness not only to our dad but also to our mom who visited every day and to all of the family. We were able to make Dads room as comfortable as we could and we were always kept immediately informed of any changes and any questions or concerns we had were always timely addressed. Dad was safe and well cared for and we are so thankful to PR for providing a respite from the suffering and allowing Dad some peace in his final days. We would never wish this need on anyone but are comforted to know that PR is there to make the truly heartbreaking moments a little easier. The facility is clean and bright, there are private rooms, the outdoor and common areas are beautiful and peaceful and everyone seems to proceed with an extra sense of kindness when you are there. Thank you all for helping our father and for all that you do.
My mother has been admitted to the Birch Rehabilitation Unit 3 times now. The staff has been wonderful and loving, albeit underpaid and overworked! Admin. would be well advised to step up their game and invest in more staffing hours!! Recreation staff are fun/happy. Facility is clean, food is okay, PT/OT Dept. is outstanding! Free TV and telephone in room. Exceptional staff on the floor -- but they should hire more. Night time and weekends are understaffed for emergencies IMO.
My mom has been in this place for over two years now. She is in the apple unit for dementia I have to say she couldn’t be in a better place it’s clean the staff has been great and very friendly and caring.I give June Murphy and her whole staff an A+ for taking care of mom especially during this rough time.ThanksWilliam Murray
First, I want to say that there are some really good people at Putnam Ridge Nursing Home. Of course , once in a while theres a problem no matterwhere you go. The following is very very important to me though:On October 21st I emailed you about the broken appointment that mySister had with Dr. Brown at the Putnam Hospital. The staff broke the appointment. They did not inform either my Sister or myself about it. I found it out myself by calling my Sister the morning of the appoint- ment.My Sister, Sondra Marsh has not walked for several several months dueto the fact that she has hardly any cartilage in her left knee. It took me2 months of going back and forth asking the staff to please make an appoint-ment with Doctor Brown so that she can get the cortisone shot that wouldhelp her to walk. I brought her to Dr. Brown for a shot and it lasted a longtime which greatly helped her at the time.In addition she should have been walked daily if not at least 3-4 times aweek as part of her treatment plan. She was not. After the broken appoint-ment by the staff, I had to call more times for them to reschedule an appoint-ment, which they did for November 16, 2020.I would like it if she instead can get a cortisone shot from adoctor coming into the facility (Putnam Ridge) so that shedoesnt have to quarantine for 2 weeks.I know how busy you must be, but I do not want my Sister wheel chair boundfor the rest of her life and Im immensely upset about this, not to mention howshe feels about it, so Im asking if you would please answer this email verysoon. Each day counts that she doesnt walk. Thank You.
I cant say enough about the Putnam Ridge facility. They genuinely displayed their professional mannerism and respect. Thank you to all the devoted staff for your gentle loving kindness in making a most comfortable and pleasant stay. I salute you all. Respectfully submitted, Edie DeVito, ,
If you have a family member at Putnam Ridge I highly recommend you move them somewhere else, and if youre looking at putting someone here, I hope you change your mind quick. If your family member reports abuse or poor care or treatment here, dont brush them off as being old and not knowing what theyre talking about. Its most likely true. Not all of the caregivers, but most of them, are heartless people who could care less about your loved ones. My great- aunt just died at 98 years old after living there for more than 2 years. She did not die of old age, or illnesses. She died of a head laceration with bleeding in the brain after she was found on the floor next to her bed. She wasnt strong enough to even pull her self up in her bed when her pillow slid down, let alone try to get in a wheel chair next to her bed as the family was told. I believe the caregivers dropped her and made up the story of her falling. On more than one occasion things were stolen from her drawers, and 2 years ago the caregivers broke her arthritic hand trying to get her to the bathroom. They would get angry with her when she soiled her adult diaper, yet wouldnt come and help get her to the bathroom when she would call. She kept her mouth shut while living there, but I will not keep mine shut now. If you have any love for the member of your family you are putting in Putnam Ridge or who already are living there, I hope this review might help you reconsider.
Theyre essentially trying to neglecting my grandfather. Theyre not providing his medication. Theyre leaving him on unattended for hours during the night and left him on the floor for hours one night after he fell. DO NOT BRING ANYONE HERE, THEY WILL NEGLECT YOUR LOVED ONES AND BLEED THE INSURAMCE COMPANY AND YOU DRY! He was aware of were he was and able to move when he came in and was completely out of it after a few days. They take his hearing aids and do not return them until we track down the nurse and get them back. The nurses refused to believe us when we told them he had a broken shoulder and only excepted the fact after they did there ow xrays. The night staff is lazy. And the only positive reviews of this facility is from staff and staff family.UPDATE. my grandfather had to be admitted to the hospital for a night because his medication levels were all over the place, due to improper administering by the staff, and the facility gave his bed away and affectively kicked him out of the facility
My grandma has been here for about 2 weeks and we are moving her promptly. The night time staff is incompetant and neglectful to the elderly patients here. My grandma used her call button for the past two nights, asking for her pain medication (which should be administered every 4 hours, but it not.) She has dementia and forgets to ask for medication, but they only give pain medication when the patients ask for it, which is ridiculous. My grandma actually called us crying several nights because her pain was so bad and she was not being attended to during the night. My grandmothers roomate used the call button in the middle of the night because she had to use the bathroom; an hour went by and she deficated in her bed. When she was too embarrased to ask for help, she cleaned herself up, and proceeded to use the call button again, and then had to wait another hour before a night time nurse came to help. My grandmother and her roomate told us that they stop drinking water around 4 in the afternoon, so they wont have to use the bathroom in the middle of the night, because they know that no one will come and help them use the bathroom in time. That is very sick, in my opinion. The day time nurses are very good, but the night time staff ruins the centers reputation.
Situated in a stunning wooded vista that creates a private, stress free atmosphere the Birch Wing Sub-Acute Rehabilitation Center is structured to reflect the hospital setting. This said, the primary objective is to focus on and move each patient through the physical and occupational therapy phase to transition into the home setting. Kudos to the professional staff that constantly evaluate and re-evaluate the patients progress. The staff doing the grunt work, a thankless job, are constantly in demand. The winners are those that can feed themselves and are motivated to do the time and get discharged.
This place is trying to kill me grandfather. They stopped his medication that he’s been on 5 years. They left him on the floor in his room because they rolled out of bed. He was ok when he got here. He needed some rehab but was ok. Now he doesn’t even know where he is....
My mothers experience in this facility was a nightmare......the staff is lazy , rehab is marginal it is not rated well in terms of its rehab program ( which we didnt know at the time) they lost my mothers bridges...so you can imagine what a nightmare that was............the staff does not help these elderly patents at all...in fact they are rather rude, dismissive and uncaring Oh and did I mention they were giving my mother the wrong meds............................food is awful ....... we took my mother out of the facility ................. my mother left Putnam in worse shape then she came in I have nothing good to say about the staff and this facility if you can avoid this place................ please do so
Hottest day of summer so far and there’s zero air conditioning in the entire building. My mother who’s there recovering from pneumonia who has severe COPD and emphysema is sweating to the point her hair was wet and she needed her oxygen turned up to the highest liter. There was no urgency in getting it fixed or a timeline. Not sure how a facility can keep a license and operate like this. it’s inhumane and unacceptable that a place that’s meant to care for people is so negligent.

2022-05-26Staff is nice and it’s small enough that everyone seems to know the residents and family. While COVID has made for a difficult time visitation is now open (I only go in the afternoons so can’t comment on evening) and aside from still requiring tests regularly and mask mandate they supply the tests. Often see activities on calendar for residents. The outdoor space has some gardening and bird watching while enjoying fresh air. The only time it seems quiet is on Sunday but Mom is always clean and fed so seems content

2022-04-21We have been very pleased with our moms stay at Putnam Ridge. To start, Susan, Penelope, and all the receptionists are always welcoming and helpful. They are kind and patient and always friendly. They make us feel like we’re all family. Jeff and all his staff are fun and entertaining and go out of their way to be helpful. The nurses, especially Danielle and Crystal, treat mom as if she’s their own mom. Not only are they and the other nurses professional but also care about their patients. The aides are excellent. They are patient and caring towards mom. Mom can occasionally be difficult especially when trying to roll her but mom is clean and well taken care of. The facility is clean and well taken care of. I spent 2 years taking care of my mom and know how difficult it is to have to do everything for her. It was a very difficult decision to let go and allow her to be in someone else’s care. But she is well cared for, clean and safe. I can now enjoy my visits with her without having to do everything for her and have time for myself also.Thank you to everyone there who take such good care of mom. I know how much it takes to get your job done especially with a shortage of help. The only problem I’ve had is we have gone through 3 phone chargers in 4 months! A little extra care to be sure it’s not getting run over or stepped on would be nice.

2022-06-04This is my father’s third stint with short term rehab and I have to say, it has been the best experience. Caring staff, especially Charlotte and Maritza, but everyone I have encountered thus far. It is quiet and clean. It isn’t state of the art like the others he has been to but this is so much better. He complains about the food. But the food is terrible in every one of these places.

2022-05-26After a rocky start with poor communication, Phil reached out and worked diligently to clean up the mess and get things back on track. Staff has been great. Communication and transition from hospital was awful and then remedied. We are hoping that there has been no cost to outer father’s health.

2022-04-10The receptionist at the front desk was very pleasant and helpful. The healthcare personnel on the floor were friendly. The rooms were sparse and cold feeling. The large room where my sister was lying on a chair was bare. No pleasantries. Bare walls, bare floors, TV was not on. No chairs for visitors to sit. Dreary dismal atmosphere.
