I have given a better star rating than this establishment deserves solely bc the staff we did encounter was very pleasant and helpful in the ways they could. It is clear from the moment you pull up to the hotel that it is an old, shabby building in need of serious repair. How this hotel passes it’s inspections are frankly beyond me.The housekeeping flaws were not the worst I’ve seen in my years of hotel work. The maintenance however was quite terrible. To start, our room when we got here has old, stained wallpaper with every cut seem pulling away from where it should be stuck. The ceilings are also stained. The air conditioner rattles very loudly, and leaks onto the floor. The carpets very badly need to be shampooed. There isn’t enough hot water in the showers at least, to go around when there’s a full house. (The sink was absolutely fine though)The vent in the bathroom runs, but definitely does not do as it should so the bathroom door really needs to be open when showering. There were several broken tiles in the bathroom so we kept towels down to save our feet. The worst maintenance issue was what appears to be a .22 caliber bullet hole in the window! Not repaired obviously. Not to mention the cracks in the tub floor which makes it very uneasy to be in, and the mold/mildew in the shower ceiling area from the vent not working properly. The ice machine also did not work.As for housekeeping flaws, aside from the carpets needing a wash, there was some staining on “fresh” towels when we arrived. There was only a half roll of toilet paper in the entire room. Soap scum on the shower walls, faucet, and turn on knob. We had put garbage out bc we declined housekeeping due to our dog, and it sat in the hall for a day and a half. And a dusting on lamps and such were needed. Again these are quite minimal grievances compared to maintenance. It is quite clear the owner of this establishment cares very little for their investment.
This hotel was disgusting. First of all, the door was so warped you had to slam it open and shut. The wallpaper in the bathroom was peeling off the walls. There was a stain on the ceiling where the toilet above had leaked. There was hair on the bathroom floor. The carpeting was damp. There were gnats flying around. The room keys did not work and had to be replaced several times. The back hallway was not lighted and the back entrance was muddy and dirty
Positive: The location was pretty good. They had free coffee in the lobby. Negative: The wallpaper was peeling off in the bathroom. There was mold at the top of the wallpaper in the shower area and the carpet felt damp either from humidity or something. The entrance from the road into the hotel had horrible potholes.
Positive: The room was clean Negative: Potholes in the hotel entryway The free breakfast was AWFUL: lack of selection, luke warm coffee, no hot water for tea, warm apple juice, completely frozen orange juice. The free breakfast cost me $20 to eat at Perkins The hotel is old. Stay elsewhere
The Cortland Quality Inn has a stench, as if the place was flooded, and no repairs were done afterward. In addition, the carpet needed vacuumed--actually replaced if they cant get the massive circular stains out of the carpet. It actually looks gross. This is due to either budget problems that dont allow repairs, or gross negligence. If the reason is the former, the hotel should be sold to someone who will put in the necessary repairs. If it is the latter reason, someone should be fired. Best to bring a tent and sleeping bags if other hotels are booked.
This hotel is running down. My room was dirty, dusty, leaky bathroom roof and has broken ceiling tile. The bathroom is so filthy; I cannot even want to take shower in it for my 2 days stay. It has layers of dust and dirt below the head board. I will not come back to this hotel again.
We had the second floor on ur room was very clean very cozy I did not give it five stars because there is no elevator. My husband and I were on our way to Niagra Falls we had a 8 hour drive we were so tired so we stoped at this location very glad. The gentleman the receptionist with the glasses is very nice very helpful his costumer service was above and betond expectations. Thank you for everything
Staff was pleasant and apologetic. That is the only positive thing I can say. This hotel is dirty and for some reason most of the hallway lights are out. The appearance is worn and decaying. The ceiling was filthy, the toilet had mold and the shower needed cleaning. Worst was the smell. Our non smoking room had smoke scent mixed with animal urine. The stairways and hallways also smelled strongly of animal odor. We cancelled the resevation. There are cheaper hotels that are better options.
After reading the reviews I was a little worried. I must say I was pleasantly surprised as was my whole family. We had a great stay for Graduation weekend. Bed are very comfortable. All the people who work the front desk are helpful and friendly. The coffee was always stocked and the breakfast was great for a free extra! Yes, its a little outdated but it seems as if they are updating things. We had 4 rooms so each had some upgrades in them. Clean and bug free, coffee and smiling faces sold me!
This hotel is run-down, definitely needs a complete overhaul. Our room was as clean and pleasant as the staff could make it. It smelled a bit musty, there were holes in the walls, carpet stained, and other damage. But there was not a speck of dust anywhere, and the bathroom was very clean. The mattress on the bed was soft and uncomfortable, although the bedding was fresh and clean. The staff was the best part of the stay, friendly and definitely trying their best to keep the hotel going.
Last minute decision to stay overnight. Found this hotel and got an excellent rate. The staff were friendly, efficient and polite. The property is a bit dated but if you are looking for a good, clean place to stay without breaking the bank then this is it! The bedding was very clean and comfortable. I could smell the freshness of the bedding which makes my day (and night to sleep!) Highly recommend.
The staff was friendly. Hotel was convenient to SUNY Cortland, which was our focus. Room needs renovating but was clean when we arrived. Very disappointment our room did not get cleaned when we left for the day. Returning back to hotel after a long day to unmade beds, no towels, etc is very disappointing. Breakfast was okay, not much to choose from. Several other options for food in the immediate area.I had never stayed in a Choice Hotel before therefore didnt really know what to expect. But did expect beds to be made, fresh towels, and room cleaned each day. The Pro for this hotel is friendliness of the staff and location to SUNY Cortland.
We stayed one night on an anniversary getaway weekend. The gentleman that greeted us at the desk was extremely friendly and helpful. The king bed was very comfortable especially for my 6 foot 5 inch husband. The carpet could have been updated. The bathroom was clean. The continental breakfast in the morning was satisfactory. Overall, a good stay. We would come back again.
I was traveling with my family, and we spent 1 night at the hotel. The bathroom in the initial room assigned to us, particularly the toilet, was terrible. We immediately requested to be moved to another room, and this was taken care of promptly. However, the bathroom/toilet in the newly assigned room was just marginally better, it was still bad.Other than this, the beds were ok, and the breakfast was good. The experience with the front desk staff was pleasant.
This was so bad that my family and I moved to a different hotel. The room was filthy. It smelled strongly of urine and smoke, although I asked for a non-smoking room. There was trash under the beds and there were strange splatters on the ceiling and chairs. The hallways had minimal lighting, and the place overall had a dirty, creepy vibe. The one thing that can be said is that the staff were very helpful and friendly. I would never recommend this, and I will not be attempting to stay here again.
First stayed here in 2007 and found it nice. Disappointed this time as I dont think it has been updated since. Bathroom needs new fixtures-cracked and stained; chrome covered with white residue, less than clean appearance. Bed was comfortable and room itself was adequate. Breakfast was okay, though attendant seemed less than interested in replacing items that were gone. Evening desk staff very friendly and helpful.
The staff were great! ALL of the employees were so friendly, helpful, and kind. I was in the area because my dogs needed vet care at Cornell. The staff were truly kind and caring. For that reason alone I would stay at this hotel again. The room itself was out-dated and the bathroom needed TLC. The carpet was filthy. Breakfast was the usual fare and presented well.
My home away from home choice isThe Quality Inn. I have had great experiences with the chain, wherever I have visited. This one in particular is very quaint andexotic. Unlike the large brick building, of which we have become accustomed.Very clean rooms, extra comfy beds andGreat people. They greet you and treatYou like family. The young lady that checkedMe in (unfortunately, I didnt get her name)However, I did get Lorie, and they bothHave the attitude of a Manager. MakingSure the guest are well taken of. I wouldCertainly recommend this hotel to myColleagues, family and friends. ThankYou for a great hot breakfast bar. There is nothing lacking about this hotel,Except a pool/exercise room and when you are on business, you really dont have timeTo indulge anyway.Thank you fir the opportunity to share.Dr G.
Overall, we were happy with our stay. Weve stayed here several times because our daughter is a student at SUNY Cortland. The people at the front desk are very nice and welcoming. The room is basically fine. The beds are very comfortable and the motel is quiet. Its close to I-81 but not so close that you hear highway noise.
Loved the room.... Nothing tacky... very tasteful...aesthetically pleasing… clean... and a most comfortable bed... all at an affordable rate...Plus the night and morning staff were very accommodating... Right off of Route 81, this is going to be my new go to when Im on the road... Highly recommend...
Hotel was quite old and worn compared to the online photos. Beds are very comfortable. Small breakfast was decent and served the basics. Only drawback is it is pulled at 9:30am. We were on vacation and coming from a 3 hr time difference so we missed the breakfast the first day and set an alarm to get up in time to grab something to take back to the room. Most of the staff were nice and polite, some were blah and just looked up at you with no expression or words when you walked past them( front desk staff). The room cleaning stopped by once at 9:30am and of you werent ready to leave so they could make beds, vacuum you were out of luck. They never once came back later. Overall this hotel for the price was fine and served the basic needs!!
Hotel was comfortable. Main room up to date and the bed seemed new and slept great. I was pleased that the air conditioner worked great and I didnt need to adjust it through the night. Bathroom outdated and stained tiles on ceiling. Internet not locked, secured so that was a disappointment that there was not a guest password.
This hotel was very quite and the check-in/check-out process was quick and easy. There were just some little cleaning details that could have been done better to make it feel like it was really cleaned between stays, but for the price we paid it fit our needs nicely, including a good breakfast in the morning.
It was an okay place to stay for the night. Staff was very helpful and friendly. Dirty corners of floor in bathroom. Tub needs to be remodeled. I dont think any amount of scrubbing would improve it. Plumbing worked fine. Mattress has a sunken spot in it. Generall updating would help.
This is an older hotel and needs some serious updates. It hasnt changed in the past several years that we have stayed there while visiting family in the area. Yes, it is cheaper but it is becoming seriously neglected. The rooms are small and the bathrooms need to be gutted. Peeling wallpaper and mold on the shower curtains and walls. Really? The hotel was quiet since there was only our family there. The breakfast bar was seriously lacking. The same old tired waffle machine, some kind of flat eggs and sausage, and old tired fruit. I will seriously consider an alternative next time we visit.
While this hotel is certainly older and could use some cosmetic facelift work, these are clean, comfortable, well-lit rooms. I actually enjoy a bit of character in a place, and felt more comfortable here than some better appointed but sterile-looking environments. The breakfast is adequate, and if you want something fancier, you can eat elsewhere. I ate there and left full, even if the options werent particularly inspired. The staff was friendly and welcoming and I was able to stream Netflix in my room without any interruption or buffering, which has not been the case in many places I have stayed. Overall, it was a pleasant stopover while I was traveling to the Cortland graduate fair. I would absolutely stay there in the future.
This motel has been my place to stay for vacation visits to the Cortland area, since 1972. It has been consistently pleasant, accommodating, and friendly throughout the decades. Seeing it newly refurbished on this latest stay made the visit all the more comfortable and positive. I really liked the new room décor. It was very clean, modern, upscale, and perky (!) The staff at the desk has always been nice.
This hotel is very, very outdated. The walls have big gashes, show curtain bar was falling off the wall, holes in bedding, wallpaper peeling, cracked tile in the bathroom, and the room needed better cleaning... We actually asked to be moved to a different room because of a slice in the mattress. The staff was very friendly and gave us another room which was in poor shape as well. The breakfast area was nice, and to be fair they where renovating rooms. But compared to other quality inns this was shockingly poor. I would have refused to stay here but it was only for one night. The owner of this establishment needs to look at these rooms and ask themselves if they would want to stay here, and observe how poor the room is compared to another quality inn.
We were well pleased with this hotel for our needs. We drive in two hours and spend the night to visit with family, so this is not a stay in room. For a clean bed, with good light-blocking curtains and comfortable pillows this is amazing. For an extended stay, the rooms might be too small for too many nights, but for 1 or 2, where you are not hanging out at the hotel, the value is here!
I stayed at Quality in on July 4th overnight with my 2 Mastiffs to escape the fireworks in my neighborhood( which my dogs hate). I was pleasantly suprised that the hotel was pet friendly and not size restrictive. The hotel was not fancy (exterior somewhat dated), but my room was clean, bed comfortable, AC and TV worked fine, and the staff I dealt with were friendly. I did not partake of the breakfast/ snack lounge so I cannot comment on that. I was satisfied with our stay and would do it again.
Stayed 1 night as I was looking for a cheap room as a college pickup stopover. Glad there was a room available (a bit cheaper than neighboring hotels). However, the hotel is old and dated, peeling wallpaper in halls and room. Didnt realize until after I checked in that I wasnt asked if I wanted a pet friendly room or not. While I dont mind pets myself, I could tell that I had a pet friendly room because they had not vacuumed well (if at all); the rug was dirty. Someone with animal allergies would have been in trouble there. Also, bathroom wasnt cleaned properly- I could see residue and ring marks from a cup on the countertop. It was late and we were tired so I didnt bother to complain or ask for new room as is was tolerable for one night- bed was clean and comfortable. On a positive note, clerks that checked us in and out were very friendly and kind. Night time-offered us yogurt, fruit and tea since we had not eaten dinner.
I stayed here for the Greek peak Spartan event and this was one of the cheaper priced hotels in the surrounding area which has a good half-dozen or more hotel choices available. The Holiday inn advertised a cheaper price than this hotel but when you went to finalize, it was nearly double the price as Im sure they were taking advantage of the nearby event. To me that is kind of like gouging and is bad business. This hotel was a 2 * price and I would say some of the things were two-star such as not having an elevator for the second floor and the staircase was in relatively poor condition. Remember you are staying in a two-star place and with that said the rooms were fantastic and thats where it counts to me. The beds were clean and well-made and the bathrooms were well taken care of as well which is all that I ask for in the end game. The breakfast area was small but the food was great and the woman that was taken care of the area was beautiful, funny, and very nice to deal with; While her looks do not affect my review LOL, I have to give credit where credit is due :-)
Fine for the price. Outside does not motivate photographing, but inside OK. Bed was GREAT, clean, comfortable, good quality sheets and comforter, clean. Slept great. Bathroom fine for use, but could use sprucing up with new wallpaper and trim. Breakfast OK, but not wondrous. Perkins across parking lot though if you want a good hot meal. Really better than expected for age and price.
This was my second stay at the Quality Inn in Cortland. The staff at the front desk is always welcoming and helpful. The rooms are clean and nicely decorated. The beds are very comfortable and the motel, although close to I-81, is in a quiet location with no noise from the highway. The breakfast area was well stocked and clean. would definitely stay there again
I paid half the price for this stay, because the other one was really too expensive, and I was with my son only, so we can accept less confort. So I was not expecting that much. We both have been very pleased by the kindness of the people out there, and the room condition was excellent. Good job.Just be aware that the room walls is not very isolated so you may encounter some inconvenience depending who are your neighbours.
This hotel is filthy. The lobby was ok, but it looked like the stairs havent been cleaned in a few months. Also, the floor of my room was dirty and stained. The tub leaked and was stained and dirty. The ac/heat unit was rusted so bad you couldnt read the directions on how to use it. I will definitely NOT stay here again. The only reason I stayed after seeing the condition, was I had finally arrived at 11pm and I was beat. I just didnt feel like moving. Next time Im in the area, I will stay at the Comfort Inn, its literally next door. The driveways are right next to each other.
This hotel was close to where I needed to be the next morning and was the only reason I chose it. The quality of the room was poor. The wallpaper was peeling off of the wall and the bathroom was lacking cleanliness. The king size bed was comfy, but the heating system was pumping out cold air for the most part. Also, the internet speed did not support Skype and would cut in and out in quality.
Very quiet, reasonable maintained, somewhat old hotel. In need of update. Unprofessional bathroom repairs. Very small room (nevertheless referred to as executive room). Refrigerator was not built in, but was free standing on the floor in front of closet, causing even less room! Moderate bed linen and towels. No elevator and rather unhandy stairs. Very small breakfast room with limited choice. Good bathroom.
I asked for a refund at Quality inn, first time ever! It was gross! It smelled, the room was dirty, beds were used! No first floor, had to carry luggage upstairs, no elevator, NOT happy. Glad they refunded me! Went across the street to Comfort Inn, and very happy! Clean and comfortable! 1000% better!
While this Quality Inn was affordable, it really is showing its age. The entrance sidewalk was stained and marred by old chewing gum spots. Needs a pressure washing. The carpeting in the halls was worn and unclean. The room carpet was a little better, but not well cleaned. The bathroom sink was obviously cracked. The AC unit appeared unserviceavlble. There no elevator to the 2nd floor. The mini fridge had some residues in it. On the positive side, the bed linens and bathroom were both fully clean. The ubiquitous waffle breakfast was fine. The staff was friendly and helpful.
The staff at the front desk was great and the young lady that cleaned our room was helpful and very friendly. Very nice hotel for the money. We were there to watch our grandson win the U15 New York State Soccer Cup. His team had to stay in Syracuse at a Crown Victoria and it was high priced and no free breakfast, plus they had to travel 45 minutes away. We were very pleased with staying in Cortland and at the Quality Hotel.
The hotel was clean with friendly accommodating staff. The room was very economical and helpful. The parking lot had some potholes that could use repair but all other parts of the hotel were very satisfying and in a good location. It was easy to book the room and the room rate was very economical .
I go to this hotel because my granddaughter attends cortland college, which is about 7 minutes away..it is very country style and very clean..the staff is always friendly, and pleasant to talk to, they do go out of their way to make you feel at home..lovely ladies working there..the rooms are spacious, clean and the beds are very comfy!! I will always come back to this hotel because. Do feel at home..great job ladies!
The location is very convenient off of I-81. It is a small hotel, but very clean, and everything in the room itself worked fine. The WiFi was down completely in the hotel with no alternative suggested. The breakfast bar did have protein choices available, which was good, but the overall selection was limited.
Smallish rooms that are dated but decent. Bathroom can be updated and cleaned more often. Hallways can have more lighting. No elevator for 2nd floor. Friendly and helpful staff. Conveniently located and off highway 81.There is a Perkins and Friendlys family restaurants within walking distance. It met my expectations based on the price.
The motel was not super fancy or immaculate, but it was less expensive than a number of others very nearby. I cant see why I would need to spend more to have a fancier experience. It was clean, sheets and towels were clean, it wasnt noisy, staff were pleasant and I slept well.A nearby cheaper motel I read thru reviews was supposed to be pretty dumpy and dirty. This motel didnt have any negatives for costing less than others nearby.
We have stayed at this motel several times as we have a child at SUNY Cortland. The motel is convenient to I-81 yet far enough away so you dont hear the highway noise. The rooms are comfortable are comfortable and the breakfast is fine. The staff is also very nice and welcoming.
The overall appearance was adequate. The bathroom ceiling and walls needed cosmetic updating. The ceiling of the room needed painting. As an pleasant surprise there was a small refrigerator in the room. The evening attendant was helpful and very friendly. The location was very good, however at least a 45 minute drive to Buttermilk Falls, which is our favorite hiking spot in the Fingerlake region. The breakfast consisted of a wide variety of items and the display was beautiful. It has no excercise room, however guests can use the facility at the Comfort Inn, just across the street.
Clean room although wallpaper was starting to come off in a few areas toward the ceiling. Bathroom was clean. Bed was comfy but i would suggest u bring your own pillows. Staff was was very nice when addressed although maybe a little too casual and distracted. Recommend this hotel and would stay again!
We had to stay here in the middle of an insane snow storm last year coming back from a family visit. We were so grateful for a well-priced hotel to stay at that accepted pets, as we were travelling with our dog. A nice surprise was when we woke up and had a breakfast buffet to enjoy next to a warm fireplace before heading back out into the storm. Loved it here and very thankful!
We decided at the last minute to book a room and stay over. We chose it for the location - close to 81 exchange. The room was nice - it was clean and comfortable. The continental breakfast was good - a number of food choices and everything seemed fresh. Check-in and check-out were both very easy and fast. Would stay here again.
We came up last week from Florida for a funeral. We were very impressed with your hotel. The staff was very polite and attentive. (They even offered to get us some breakfast food before we left at 3 in the morning.) The rooms were extreamly clean and kept up. We would definately recommend this hotel for travelers. Thank you all.
Room had soaked carpet and when we asked the front desk attendant she said it was from carpet cleaning. It was soaked by the bathroom. This caused the linens to feel wet and the room had an odor. We were not offered to change rooms. The shower also had mold in it. We would never stay here again!
My 2 main problems were that while we were still in the room Sunday morning, the cleaning staff knocked on the door 3 different times, after we said we were still in the room and she said the woman down front said we had checked out and they were sorry the first time. This did not stop them from knocking again 15 minutes later, and then again 5 minutes later and proceeding to open the door after we responded that we were still in the room. The other problem was, while breakfast was fine, there was very little left 45 minutes before the end of breakfast and the woman filling the food said she didnt have any more to bring out. The room, however, was just fine. The staff was a bit to be desired.
This is one of the best hotels in Cortland, New York. The treats that are waiting as you enter are a nice extra. The staff is always very helpful and friendly, from getting directions around town to using the computer they have set up. I highly recommend it. They always know we are probably dropping off a child at college, time of year, and they always ask how it went. Love staying there. Wish more hotels had that homely feel and courteousness.
The location was right off the I-81, very convenient. The mattress was new. The heat/ac unit was old but worked properly. Breakfast was good, except for the tasteless scrambled eggs. Good price for the area. I would recommend this motel and would stay there again if I am ever in this area.
My recent stay at the Cortland NY Quality Inn was a very pleasant experience. The hotel is dated on the outside but it is fresh and well cared for on the inside. The management will go out of its way to make your stay a pleasant one. They sure made mine very enjoyable. I will stay there again when the opportunity presents itself.
I stayed at the Quality Inn in Cortland NY on Aug 8th. The rooms and carpeting are a bit outdated as everything is very dark. The bathroom counter is a bit small to hold your toiletries but the water pressure for the shower is very good. A wide selection of TV channels. The desk is a bit small if you need to work on a a laptop. The WiFi is very good. I had a room on the 2nd floor on the back of the building and could hear a dog barking for a few hours, so that was a bit distracting. The breakfast selection is very good (apples, oranges, banannas, bagels, english muffins, bread, instant oatmeal, hardboiled eggs, juice and coffee). The entire staff works hard to keep everything neat and is very friendly.
The hotel was clean, the staff was nice, the room was clean, and the food was good. My daughters and grandbabies were heading to Syracuse and needed a place to stay. Although I checked in at 2:30am on Saturday morning and had to check out at noon, it was a good stay and less than a half hour from Syracuse. If I had to, I would definitely use them again!
The Quality Inn at Cortland NY was perfect! The door opened easily and without a glitch with the keycard. The room had enough lighting. The air conditioning worked great and very easy to use. The TV worked easily and had a lot of cable stations. Internet free and fast!Bed was comfortable. Everthing worked in the bathroom. The room and bathroom were immaculate. I have paid substantiially more for hotel rooms that always had something that did not work correctly. I would absolutely stay here again!
My wife and I checked in very late (approximately 11:45pm). We were given a room and told that it was the BEST room available. Since it was late, we went to our room and went straight to bed. When we woke up in the morning and used the bathroom we discovered that it was disgustingly dirty (I took pictures) There were black (mildew/mold dirt?) streaks running down the bowl of the toilet, and the shower was filthy and had mold/mildew growing! That isnt even the worst part!! My wife dropped her glasses off the night stand and when she reached down to retrieve them she came up with someones used dirty dental floss!!! Needless to say we were not pleased (this was a last minute anniversary trip). My wife spoke to Lorie Armstrong at the front desk and was told there was no manager on site. Lorie told my wife that she could give us 1000 points? My wife explained that we are not part of the club and based on our first experience it was doubtful we would join! We then found out that 1000 points does nothing as (according to the club brochure) you would need 6000 point + cash just to get 1 free room. My wife explained that we were very unhappy with our stay and she was told that the manager (Maryanne) would call us. It has now been close to a week and no one has attempted to contact us. I do NOT feel it is mine or my wifes responsibility to chase down the manager especially considering that a complaint had already been made. Needless to say, we will NOT be staying at any of your properties in the future.
Do not stay if you value your health or sleep. My room was horrible and the entire hotel was old and not updated. The ceilings thought the hotel and water stains from leaks. The air on the 2nd floor was moist and smelled of mildew. In our room parts of the carpets were wet for not apparent reason. The shower was covered in mildew and black mold spots. But the straw that broke the chamels back was the tree on the outside of the building that was touching our window. All night long we were woken up whenever the wind blew and the branches of the tree slammed into window or the AC. It was a pain to say the least. Also the hotel is too close to the HWY, the nosie from the trucks and locals drag racing will also keep you up all night. Pay the extra money and stay somewhere else.
Excellent service and compassionate customer service. I even had one of the staff cry with me when my mom passed. She was at Cortland Park across the street so I had to go over there quite a bit. They even tolerated my dogs barking. I had no choice but to bring them. I highly recommend someone to stay there! It was nice to have a regular breakfast and not a continental breakfast. Although, I dont eat breakfast.
Stayed at this hotel right next to the highway on our way home from a trip. Hotel staff were very friendly and efficient, room was slightly dated but very clean and quiet. Internet connection was great and continental breakfast was very adequate to get us back on the road. We would definitely stay here again.
This particular Choice hotel will not ever get my business again, nor will it be recommended. I am also considering not using Choice Hotel brand due to the poor conditions and over price of this particular hotel. Price was outrageous for the condition of the hotel based on the fact of it being parent weekend at the local college, along with the requirement to book 2 nights because of being parent weekend.
We were assigned this hotel for my sons soccer team in the final four if State Cup otherwise I would have checked out as soon as I checked in. Rooms are very dated and dark. Very musty smelling. Paid way too much for the room. The only Quality in this hotel was the nice lady that worked both evenings.
Just arrived 90 minutes ago. front desk personnel is totally useless. I’m 8 months pregnant and have a toddler; he didn’t even offer to help me bring my luggage up to the second floor, (there is no elevator) refused to give me a first floor room and then gave me a sad excuse of a pillow when I asked to two or three for back support. Add to that the ice machine has been broken for several months (I looked up previous reviews to confirm) AND the room is so small and the furniture so big that there is no room for my luggage, not to mention space for the travel crib my toddler needs to sleep in. What kind of “quality” are they striving for? Less than mediocre would be my answer.
Curb appeal awful. Warm coffee. Wall paper pealing off. Room door sticks. Overall appearance not good. Staff very professional and helpful. Beds are clean and comfortable. Staff does the best they can with what they have to work with. Kelly was excellent, very helpful as were others.
They should of gave us one night free or a discount since they were having trouble opening with the keys and made us a wait for awhile. They told us the morning lady didn’t do their job and doors were opening. In Oswego the quality inn, was a lot better and up to date. Cleaner too. But over all the lady did apologize because I guess she seen how we were very patient. We just traveled 6 hour road trip and just wanted to get to sleep. I thank you and hoping this doesn’t happen to another family.
Very convenient location (right off 81). Very friendly staff, everyone we interacted with very kind and helpful. The amenities inside are above what we expected based on the exterior of the building. Very clean. Bathrooms need to finish being updated, but not offensive at all.
This is the most disgusting hotel. It is outdated and filthy. Wallpaper covered in mold, peeling away from walls, especially in bathroom. Toilet was filthy. We got into a fight about the room and left after being there for less than 2 hours. I’d rather sleep in my car! To top it off the hallway stunk of bacon or pork like someone was cooking in their room...GROSS!
The stay was average. A few little things could be done to make it better. Little things like fixing the big potholes in the main entrance. Fixing the fencing area around the garbage area. Cleaning the stairwells. The rims were fine but just those little “curb appeal” items would be a big improvement since they are some of the first things a traveler would see.
This hotel needs major updates. The wallpaper in the bathroom was peeling and discolored and the sink had major stains. It was a bit chilly so we turned the heat on for a little while. The heating unit was dirty and old. The smell when we first turned it was very bad. I would never stay here again. Also the woman at the front desk when I checked out was very unfriendly. She passed me when I was walking to the front desk to check out and she did not greet me or mention she would be right back. Upon return she did not greet me and was very unfriendly.
Hotel is old, dingy, dark and in need of a good cleaning and updating. Lighting in the room and hallways is very dim. Room could have used a real cleaning (cobwebs) and fresh paint. Bathroom wall was coming apart, some mold in the shower. The lobby and breakfast were ok; staff was friendly
Room was okay at best.. It could use some repair, door really squeaked, NO smoke detector. Breakfast was far from what I have experienced in other Choice Hotels! No newspaper. Unfortunately, I have booked 4 nights. If I had known , I would have stayed some place else.
To be totally honest i was disappointed with my last stay at the Quality Inn. My room had an awful odor --like smelly feet--probably just not ventilated for awhile. The other problem was the bed frame makes lots of noise. However i will not keep it against you cause in the past all my experiences have been fine. I just suggest looking into why the room had that problem and fix the bed.The front desk personnel were all pleasant. thanks for listening.
The hotel is older but clean. There is no pool or fitness room. The gathering area is also small along with the rooms. Having a large group of teenage boys, they were bored. TV in room was working and I was able to get a refrigerator when I requested prior to check-in. The WI-FI in the hotel did not work for most of the stay, and when it did, the connection was very slow.Front desk attendants in the evening were very accommodating. I asked if we could order pizza and have beverages in the common area and was told of course.
First we selected the hotel due to it was close to our destination. The staff was friendly but the condition of the hotel is very poor. It smelled, it was dirty, it was not well kept, and worse off all the security was scary. Even though the main door was locked at night the side door was broken and anyone can walk in. I will be advising the business that put us in ge hotel plus the hotels corporate offices of how bad the hotel is reflecting on their name. I really hope they either update the hotel or go out of business in that location. They are taking good peoples money and refusing to refund due to poor accommations. O by he way their was mildew in the bathroom which when you have allergies such can make you sick.
My partner and I stayed here for a weekend while visiting Ithaca. The hotel staff were pleasant and recommended good places to eat in Cortland. The breakfast was decent, just full of carbs. This hotels a good place to stay if youre looking for a place to sleep at night while youre out and about during the day.
This place is a joke. The ice machine is constantly broken. Staff here are rude! The staff here look tired, and only see only 1 house keeper. When you walk in, its terrible. There is this really loud obnoxious mexican lady at the front desk. I forgot her name but she looks like a man and women combined. Piercing all over her face like shes working at a tattoo shop. Fake jewerly, that arent even real!! My room smelled like old people.... breakfast tasted like frozen foods that has been sitting in the freezer to get freezer burned. The cookies are terrible, out of the box, stale. God, my comforter was disgusting it had coffee stains or something brown on it that smelled. There was grease on the head board. There was residue on the tables. I am so grossed out by this place. There needs to be a health code violation on this place. Im going to call corporate and have this owners license pulled. This is uncalled for. Service here is aweful. The place is a run down crack house.
I have stayed at the Quality Inn in Cortland, NY numerous times in the past few months. I always ask for a room with a view (2nd floor). It consistently provides a pleasant, comfortable place to relax from the days labors and prepare for the next. The hot water is hot.Cold water is cold. The sheets are clean,Aint no cockroaches. So stop and rest,And park your coaches.
My bathroom door hinges were not set correctly so the door would not close right and if you didnt pull up when opening it hit the floor. The coffee container was empty when we went for breakfast and the decaf was cold. The bed was so soft that you sink to the middle and I had a foot of clearance to the wall to get out on my side. My last stay at a Choice Hotel because we had problems at other Choice Hotels. We have already booked reservations for our next 2 Cortland trips at another hotel.
Asst. Manager first tried to give me room with strong urine smell. Changed to another room. When I checked out and asked about that room again, she said they still had not cleaned it, but was, glad that you brought it to our attention. Like the maid didnt already???When I returned home, I was charged for TWO nights at this hotel. After I called about this, the second nights charge was FINALLY removed from my American Express.
The Quality Inn has been remodeled inside and was pleasant, clean and comfortable. The only drawback was there is no elevator for the 2nd floor. It is very accessible to a variety of restaurants and I-81. Our room was extemely quiet and the curtains keep the room dark until you open them.
After an unfortunate situation at the econolodge in Cortland which was outdated, dirty with ants and a horrible owner who refused initially to give us our money back. Long story, but dont stay there!!!Called Quality Inn immediately and thanks to Laura Mae who secured us a room.Got there after 10 p.m.and she was pleasant and compassionate. Assured me if there was any issues, she would resolve them asap. Clean, safe and pleasant staff. No worries here.Recommend
This hotel is convenient to Ithaca, which is where I had business, and it is less expensive to stay in Cortland than to stay in Ithaca. It is a pleasant enough hotel. The only problem I noticed was that the door did not close properly unless it was firmly shut. It appeared that the door had previously been jimmied or forced open. Also, the secondary door to the hotel, which was immediately adjacent to my suite, also did not close securely and looked like it may have been forced or broken into. Although I personally experienced no security issues, this hotel may have such problems.
Nice hotel for a night or two. No pool but we only stayed overnight while visiting a SUNY school. Hotel could use an update but everything was very clean. The staff was extremely nice and very helpful. Check in and checkout could not have been easier. I would stay here again in a minute.Great Staff
We stayed overnight here on our way to a 5-star hotel at Niagara Falls, Ontario. Im not kidding, this hotel offered better and more amenities than the higher-end establishment. The staff was friendly and helpful and the room was spotless. I would definitely recommend this hotel.
Outside could use a little curb appeal but inside was country cozy and friendly. Very convienent to our destination, Beds were very comfortable after a long day on the interstate. Cold breakfast choices were plentiful and adequate and the presentation was thoughtful. Several options in the same exit for a breakfast choice and fuel fill up.
Service fine too - some very friendly staff. but no elevator and no exercise facilities. They send you to the Comfort Inn which is a long walk away and whose exercise room is awful. Breakfast area is cramped; bring your food up to the room! Limited offerings at breakfast too. Stairs - which you MUST use if youre on the 2nd floor - smell musty. WiFi is hit or miss. They have a captive audience during big local college days, but Id stay elsewhere if availability allows.
I had stayed at this hotel previously, and was assigned the same suite I was assigned to on this occasion. On the first of my stays, I noticed that there was a problem with the door, and that it looked like it had once been broken into. I did not expect, when I stayed there again several years later, that the door was still not repaired, and indeed, that it was popping open even though I thought I had pulled it shut and locked it. Nothing was taken from my room, but the door did not stay shut even when I walked away and was absent for a time.
The hotel was fine once I called them directly. I had first tried to make a reservation through Choice Hotels reservation desk website but was told there were no rooms available. I had tried that with another hotel and got the same response but when I called the hotel directly there were rooms. I would certainly recommend the Quality Hotel in Cortland but you need to contact them directly and not go through the Choice Hotel reservation desk
Last week, we stayed here. Any other place would have been better... Very small room, beds are not comfortable, very ancient air conditioner... The old carpet was always WET for some reason. So, it was disgusting to walk on bare foot. The breakfast was so so.The second day, someone knocked on the door at about 10 a.m. It was the hotel maid. She asked, Would you need something today? We did not know what she meant and just nodded not really. Thats it - the room was not cleaned that day!!And, listen to this - one night, around 1 a.m., some one banged several times on our room widow from outside! Stunned and bewildered, we cautiously opened the curtain. An old lady was standing outside and yelled I am the receptionist. I came out for something and I forgot my key. Now I am locked out!! Can you please open the front door of the building? Well, we did... Creepy, right?!
I have stayed in many quality inns in the past in different places. I overlooked all the reviews for this place just because I had good experience with the quality inn brand. However the reviews were right...rooms were clean but need updates. I could see peeling paints and wallpapers...bathroom had water damage...breakfast was all packaged food...no refrigerator and microwave in the room was a first for quality inn for me....Overall I would say it disappointed me just because I did not expect this from Quality Inn....
The Quality Inn in Cortland, New York has a female receptionist that clearly isnt used to ethnic families. She was very despondent and quite rude. She also lacks effective customer service skills. Unfortunately, this causes me to rate my overall experience at this Quality Inn as poor. This location does not have mini-fridges in the rooms which was problematic due to the fact that we had medication that needed to be refrigerated and subsequently, we had to use the bucket of ice.
The heating/air conditioner was a disaster. Chipped paint on unit, dial instructions (heat/cold/hi/lo) were obliterated a long time ago, the amount of heat coming out was poor and the unit was noisy. Turned it OFF at 2:00 a.m. and added a blanket. Seams in the tub/shower unit had black marks (mold?). Bottom of sink was scratched making it look disgusting. Never again!!
We stay at this hotel whenever we are visiting family at Cortland University. It is Clean , affordable, and in a convenient location . The staff is always friendly and helpful. We stayed twice over graduation weekends and the hotel and staff always makes it a special weekend. This hotel is a great value.
It is convenient for the Cortland area, close to the university, off the interstate. There is a family restaurant across the parking lot for lunch an dinner. Quiet location as next to residences. Clean and accommodating, comfortable rooms, non-smoking hotel a plus. Good value for the price paid.
I have been in more expensive properties that lacked the nice touches here: gift bag, after hours snack table, teddy bear gift, etc. we even heard guests checking out praising the staff for the quality of the facility. We had to leave one day early and our daughter and her husband moved from the Days Inn because it was so bad and they loved the change.

2022-03-22Positive: The front desk staff Wayne was really nice. He let us view our room first and allowed us to gat another when we were not satisfied over them smell. Very nice and accommodating. Negative: The hotel is old and pictures looked better than in person. Basic room, comfortable beds but bathroom needs updating asap. Wallpaper peeling stained tub and toilet. 2022-04-24Really old hotel/motel, friendly staff, but interior needs serious renovation. The room rate was 100 dollars, so it was understandable. The shower water pressure is very low.2 stars , 1 star for free basic breakfast, 1 star for friendly staff.Minus 3 stars for super old interior overall.

2022-05-23Positive: We were assigned a room away from our family , which created anxiety for all 4 of us. The staff on duty tried there best to accommodate us. They were co operative and pleasant. Negative: When we checked in the room we had requested next to our senior Aunt and Uncle ( ages 90,And 91 )was listed as ready but was not. It was ¿a mess¿ there had been a party in the room and there was no cleaning staff available to remedy the situation.

2022-01-19Positive: The staff are super nice and helpful. Breakfast is better than expect, Costco individual pack jimmy sausage egg muffin. Ham and egg muffun, juice, coffee, yugart and fruit cup. Negative: Hotel is dark and old. In my room 106, no refrigerator, and no microwave. AC is old, no auto temperature control, so the room too hot and too cold at night.

2022-02-16Overall, we did not have a bad stay. The main issue we had was the dirty bathroom tub, sink, and floor. The hotel rooms need to be updated.

2021-10-10This property had 3.5 stars from 425 people. Photos on line were bright and clean. Location to college was excellent. Halls smelled terrible and were dark. Old motel feel. If youre picky not a place for you. It was fine for the night, but wouldnt stay again. Price was definitely high for the facility. Staff was extremely nice.
