R Lounge in other cities:
The view is better than the food and the service can be a bit slow and uncaring. I tried this place twice: at night and during the day. Night is prettier since it looks out on Time Square. The lobster roll is fishy but the grilled cheese and bacon was tasty. Best thing on the menu is 99 cents: the old bay seasoned potato chips. Quite good. Skip dessert, they arent very good.
My husband had the ribeye which was served with caulilini (baby cauliflower with green stems and white tips) and yucca fries. He said the steak was cooked and seasoned perfectly and yucca fries were good. The caulilini was under-cooked and inedible so he left those behind.I had the kale and wild mushroom ravioli. It was delicious. It didnt come with the pine nuts as described in the menu but rather did come topped with pea shoots which I enjoyed. The fresh peas, though, were also under-cooked and crunchy and, even though I love peas, I left those on my plate. We each had a cocktail as we were celebrating our anniversary and the drinks were strong and well-made. The atmosphere was moderately low lighting and cozy and the seating was very comfortable.Theres lots to look at as the restaurant hangs directly over Times Square but at billboard height, you will end up watching the same ads over and over again. The best spot to sit is at the back of the restaurant.
We had a lovely meal here, its a great location and is priced reasonably given this. I had the cheese and charcuterie main course which was very good although it didnt stand out as being particularly amazing. The service felt a little rushed initially but once wed ordered we felt relaxed and were not rushed out the door after finishing. All in all, I would recommend this restaurant and would return myself!
The view was really nice, we got the best table! They do birthday songs if you ask for it, which is also nice. The food was good, but a little small, specially the pizza. Waiter was nice until we had to pay. There is a gratitude of 18% which you HAVE to pay. I would have tipped 20% but for no reason they were super rude about the bill. Would not come back.
Fantastic space! 5 stars for the fantastic views of TIMES SQUARE.If you want a great spot for pictures and pre-show small plates/drinks this is a great spot to check out.Being from the NYC area, and frequent Broadway patron, this is not a spot I have ever visoted before. A friend invited me and so I joined her and some folks who were visiting from out of town. The drinks were wonderful. I had the summer in the city which was a pineapple based rum punch. We shared the hummus plate and the homemade potato chips and then ordered some entrees. I had the chicken panini. Ive had better, but this was good.Id recommend making a reservation. Definitely go for the views and the drinks.
You would never know this bar is even here! In the heart of Times Square hidden behind tinted glass a few floors up.The bar has 3 out of 4 sides all glass looking straight over times square.Prices arent even super expensive and are average for a tourist bar in NYC.Its a must see!
EDIT: I USED to like bringing friends here who are visiting NYC, the view is cool and people like to see Times Square from the quiet comfort of a restaurant. HOWEVER, my last visit here was a complete disaster. I’m not sure if management changed, but the service was HORRIFIC. Six of us were sat at a four person table and despite our complaints, waiter insisted there was no other possible seating arrangement. The food was fast-food level, drink menu limited, my boyfriend ordered bourbon and they brought him rye and refused to acknowledge their mistake, insinuating he has no taste buds. We were then informed at the END of the meal that only two credit cards can be used to split the bill. When we asked for separate checks, the waiter rolled his eyes and walked away, basically ignoring us. We were treated like homeless children at this “establishment” and, needless to say, the six of us are certainly not coming back, let alone bringing someone here from out of town. What an embarrassment.
I live nearby on 48th, finally decided to give it a try. The crowd is typical times-square, mostly tourists and a maybe a few locals sprinkled in. Didnt really care for the children running around in a lounge on a Friday night but I feel I was there with the pre-theatre crowd. I love the concept of this place. The crowd is mature and very calm/relaxed. I really want to love this place because its admittedly really cool and not overcrowded or too loud, two things I hate but are all too familiar here in Times Sq. Unfortunately we tried four different cocktails, all $14+ and they were terribly weak pours. If you have a cocktail bar/lounge in midtown/times-square, it needs to be high-end and elegant. If not, then at least the drinks need to taste that way. They were very underwhelming and I was left feeling that yet again, here is another establishment prying and getting by on the revolving door of new customers every day and letting standards slip by. Tried the pretzel, they were severed as three palm sized pretzels with cheese and mustard on the side. Pretty good, pretty standard, nothing amazing. Our server was polite and just fine. My last critical comment is the scented air being pumped into the lobby is way too strong! Lots of business are following this trend of scented air but it really was quite overdone and headache inducing. I may return if I have friends visit so they can have a drink and watch the scene in times sq, otherwise I doubt Ill be back.
This place has a very nice atmosphere with an amazing view of Times Square. I saw the menu online and decided to take my boyfriend to dinner for his birthday since it sounded like the food would be great and theres a ton of options. We sat down and they had a QR code on the table which was their menu. We scanned it and it took us to a very small menu, we asked a waiter there if this was the full menu and he said yes, thats the menu. My boyfriend and I looked at the menu confused because this was not what was advertised online. We described it as an expensive Applebees or kids food. All they had for entrees was $6 fries, $22 basic burger and $16 wings and maybe like 2 more things that were overpriced for what they were. We agreed to leave and go somewhere else for dinner so we got up and started walking out. A waiter caught up with us and asked why were leaving and we told him the menu was overpriced and was not what was advertised. He laughed and said people walk out all the time cause of the menu. He said the menu that is shown online is old and they have condensed their menu dramatically but have not informed people online about their menu change. Dont bother going here if you want amazing food for a reasonable price. This place is nice, but the menu is not what is advertised and the prices are stupid for what theyre offering. Might as well save money and go to Applebees or something. ALSO, my boyfriend bought a $16 whiskey sour at the bar and they gave him a whiskey sour with a salt rim, but when he drank it, he said it was EXTREMELY salt heavy, he said It tastes like they poured salt into the drink itself. So drinks are overpriced and not good.
Food was wonderful, great view! I had bacon, sausage, chocolate muffin, strawberris, and blueberries! My-----------had bacon, sausage, and blueberry. My-----------had potatoes, bacon, oatmeal, blue muffins. My-----------had bacon, sausage, blueberry muffin, and blueberries!
I fully expected the food at this place to be average at best. I figured due to the location and view, that is essentially what you are paying for. I couldnt have been more wrong. Everything we ordered (about half the menu) was absolutely fantastic. I think if they expanded their shareables just by a few more options, this could be easily one of the best restaurants in Times Square. We will absolutely be heading back to NYC and go here. Fantastic food, drinks were very strong, service was amazing, and you cannot beat the views!
Love the view!!! You can see Times Square really well!!! The prices are decent. The food is great! Try the pretzel and kettle chips (the chips are .99 and the dip is awesome). For drinks we ordered a dry martini and a Cosmo both really good and reasonable priced. The staff also was very attentive.
Amazing! Server was the nicest man I ever had the pleasure of encountering. It was my birthday and he was extremely accommodating. His name has slipped my mind but he was Bengali. Super friendly and interactive. The food was also good. Wish there were more options. But the salmon was good. So was the ravioli. You also can’t go wrong with the .99 cent chips. The scenery was also spectacular. Both inside and outside. Very nice ambiance and I had an incredible night!
My wife and I stopped in for dinner prior to seeing a Broadway show. Although we had walked past many times we had never gone in. Since it was close to our show, we decided to give it a try. Great decision!! As soon as you step off the elevator, youre greeted with a classy, upscale ambiance. We were greeted and seated right away and our server, Marlene, was there to greet us almost immediately. First, I have to comment on what an amazing server Marlene was! She was very courteous and extremely friendly, and thanked us for coming in. She was extremely attentive and checked on us throughout our meal, many times offering suggestions about what we should try.We ordered the Giant NY-style pretzel. Giant doesnt quite describe how large this appetizer is! It came out piping hot, served with brown mustard and a cheese sauce. DELICIOUS! For our entrees, my wife ordered a burger and I ordered the chicken panini. Both were good choices.Unfortunately, between the Giant pretzel and our meals, we werent able to try any of the desserts. However, based on this visit, we will definitely be back again, and this time well save room for dessert.
The view is great, so beautiful. Menu is OK. The service was HORRIBLE. The host and manager were friendly and nice. The waiter was rude and seemed to be angry that we were there. I took my sister to celebrate her birthday. I thought it would be a good choice because of the view. The waiter only brought water after I asked THREE times. When we were eating our appetizers our waiter went at our table 3 times asking if we were done and if he could bring the main dish. My sister and I had to repeat that we were still eating our soups. I talked to the Host to ask if they had any dessert for birthday celebration and if they could bring it to my sisters table and sing happy birthday. He said yes and said they were going to make a cheesecake for her and put some candle on top. After 15 minutes another super rude waiter brought the cheesecake asking who was the birthday girl, my sister didn’t get anything. He threw the cheesecake there and walked away. They didnt sing happy birthday, OF COURSE. Last but not least I asked for the check and waited 20 MINUTES. The waiter didnt bring it and then I asked directly to the manager who brought it quickly. So sad, great view, good food but the service ruins it all.
I took my 2 teenage children. We went at 5 pm and got to sit In the best seat in the house, front and center. Our waitress Karen was very attentive and friendly. Our food came in a timely manner. We ordered the burger, grilled cheese which came with tomatoe soup and chicken sandwich. we all enjoyed our few food and the amazing views of times square!
I Dined here by Reservation on Valentine’s Day 2016 to surprise my Wife:The food was very great and tasty. The view was outstandingly remarkable and one of a kind. But our waiter was very rude in the service he provided us. he kept us waiting for a meal for over 25 minutes to 40 minutes with just water on the table. He had a weird attitude to himself, gave certain disregard to certain requests that we made, and requested a tip at the end of our stay for his bad service.I should have reported this with his to the manager, but Im not that mean a person.... some people are just trying to make ends meet, and dont really have the proper courtesy and respect to show towards their customers while at work.Food is great and the view is very very very outstandingly remarkable, but be aware of certain waiters in this location..... Sorry to say!!!!!!P.S.—->>>To the Manager:I Highly recommend that you guys try to possibly review each waiters services, style, and demeanor while at work in your facility. It is a strong suggestion, because you WILL LOSE Great customers like myself because of this Noticable Default in lack of Satisfactory Customer Service!!!!!
1st time Visitor...all I can say is what great food and service!!!. Ms Marlene (our Waitress was awwwweeesome!!! She had great spirit that made you feel welcomed. The burger was one of the best Ive ever had in my life. The icing on the cake was the Cheesecake...omg/wow!!! Im a fan for life. Really enjoyed and would highly recommend for NYC Visitors!
JACKPOT !!! My family only had one day/night in NYCity. I found R Lounge, it sounded too good to be true. We went for dinner. IT COULD NOT HAVE BEEN ANY BETTER! The views, the table, the staff, the drinks, the server, the food, the price, the decor A++ Really, there could not be a better place to have a cocktail, dinner and enjoy the incredible view of Times Square. Thank You R Lounge!
R Lounge is a hidden gem! I am surprised how a lot of people dont know about this spot! Ill tell you why. Its very hard to distinguish this place while you are walking in the bustling streets of Times Square. The place is elegant/intimate with ample space. Accessible to Transit and their menu and drinks are affordable and good!
Views are second to none. You go here for that. Food and service are ok, don’t expect much on that front. Hostess and servers are a bit aloof to your needs. We didn’t find them too accommodating in regards to speed of service and sitting arrangements. But like I said, you get some amazing views of Times Square. Go in the evening so you can get the full effect of all the lights. For all places, make sure you book in advance.
After getting very disappointing cocktails while visiting New York, we came to R Lounge as they had good reviews on the internet. Our server Marlene was very fast, efficient and anticipated our needs. We couldnt decide on the cocktails on the menu and she suggested making us something different. In less than a minute she had brought out a great Mai Taiwan and 2 other drinks for my friends. The food was great and brought out quickly and the view of Times Square is too die for. Thank you Ready Lounge for meeting our expectations and making our New York experience awesome.
This place is awesome. Great drinks food is on the pricy side but is very good and you cant beat the view! Perfect view of Times Square. In the middle of the action without the cold weather. I was also very lucky to go on a slower weekday night so Im sure that helped too.
The service was very poor. I noticed it was busy, but when the people next to us (came in 10 minutes later) got service before we did, it was disappointing. My stepdaughter spoke with the hostess, and the hostess approached the waiter. It still took over 5 minutes before he came over, and although he was nice enough, he wasnt very engaging.Ive worked as a waitress before, and its easy to get overwhelmed, however your support staff should have stepped in if waiter was busy, several servers walked by us and completely ignored us.
Great view at this bar/restaurant. I would recommend it to friends just for the view. The manager has several times responded to others that has posted reviews about the horrible service level. If he has had team meetings discussing it, it seems like it has not helped at all. Our waiter did not seem to be happy to be working there at all.
Awesome view of time square with out all the people. Didnt have much on the menu for food around 11pm on a Friday but had a few fancy options that are always good when youve been drinking. Service was great and friendly.. The price was expected because of the view and the experience..I just hate paying 14 bucks for French fries with gravy on them even though they were really good.
We are currently visiting NYC and I was concerned that we wouldn’t be able to get into the lounge with holiday parties but it wasn’t an issue ! Twice we were able to sit at the $20,000+ “New Years Eve “ tables :) and enjoy the views of time square ! Drinks 🍹 are delicious and priced within reason ! Definitely worth a visit the view is worth way more than the drinks were !
This Place is a hidden gem! Located right in the heart of the Times Square with glass walls all around, it feels that you are seated right at the Times Square, sipping cocktails with the magnificent TSQ billboards and the NYC yellow cabs. The location is as good as it can be!The menu here (for food and drinks) is very limited. Some finger food options in the menu would have been good. Roasted red pepper hummus and pita are really decent. The veg margarita pizza is okay. The molten chocolate is yumm!! Cocktails are tasty and well made. Port Royal was my fav.I take away one star because staff here is a bit rude. They can be pretty unresponsive and ignorant at times which can really put you off especially when you have such a nice buzz!
Food was great, service was amazing. Our waiter was so nice!Only complaint was the host and manager. Our train was late, so I called ahead and said that weekend would be a few minutes late...no one answered so I had left a voicemail. Upon arrival we were greeting in a very snobby unprofessional manner. This is why RLounge doesnt have 5.
We were in town for a week and went to this place twice. The first time was great and the service was excellent (thanks Jamie). The second time we went the service was poor and our waiter haggled us over tip we left him (as we are trying to leave) and was baffled when I told him the tip was a result of the poor service. Overall a hit & miss with this place. Great view of Times Square.
My wife ordered a club soda with lime, very clearly, and the server brought her a vodka soda with lime. The server never repeated back the order to us to confirm, and nodded his head when she ordered. My wife is THREE YEARS SOBER and also currently PREGNANT so this was an absolutely horrific and disgusting error when she took a big sip of the drink and found it to be FULL of vodka. Can you imagine being three years sober, a huge accomplishment, having not had a sip of alcohol in years, and you unknowingly drink it WHILE PREGNANT? All that was done (NO APOLOGY) was bringing a new drink (which we were still charged for by the way), a dessert, and a silly bag of cookies. No manager or anyone came over to apologize or check on us, and the server acted like he had no concept of why this was an issue. We were visiting New York and our evening was completely ruined because of the trauma this experience caused my wife. Do not eat here. The food and ambience are not worth the horrible service because they arent even that great.
Place had an outstanding view.. could not be beaten, over looking Times Square. Its a shame the environment wasnt so good. the restaurant was VERY dark, so dark you couldnt read the menu well! Food was ok but not worth the price. Drinks were VERY over priced. $17 for a small cocktail is bad, $9 for a bud light is crazy too. Service was good though.
The view during the evening is fabulous!Youre not just on Times Square, but you are right in the center of it all.Its a great place to enjoy quality foods and drinks while looking at everyone on TimesSquare.Prices seem just like similar establishments but not one of them does come close to the spectacular view in the evening one can enjoy here.
We visited the bar because of a recommendation of a friend and wanted to celebrate our last evening in NY. Sadly the waiter was extremly unfriendly and treated us really impolite that we felt so uncomfortable we leaved really fast. We didn‘t even get a bye or Thank you for the tip we gave. Just a derogatory glimpse of the waiter... Never again and definitivly no recommendation
If you are like me in Manhattan (AKA a tourist who hates being associated with tourists), this place is the greatest. A few floors removed from the hustle and bustle (or, again since its mostly tourists, sometimes lack thereof) below, this lounge boasts wonderful views of the heart of Times Square. Buy an expensive drink and enjoy the view...it does not get old quickly. There are obviously a lot of tourists who frequent this lounge (it is in a hotel, afterall), but that does not detract from the ambiance and people watching.
I got lucky and found this place while on our anniversary. Its almost like a hidden little spot because there are no flashy signs or markers to know where this place it. The view if amazing and the food was good. The price wasnt even any more than if you were eating anything else. Very relaxing and beautiful view.
The service was awful. They placed a 6 person party at a 4 person table, messed up the drink orders, then told a party of 6 only after the full dinner that they only accept two credit cards per bill. Menu stunk, food was mediocre. The view is the only good thing. Otherwise avoid at all costs. Horrible.
$689 a night for the equivelent of a Hampton Inn! The only reason this place even gets one star from me was the friendly check-in agent at the front desk - she was very nice and helpful in fixing a screw-up in their computer with our reservation. I was traveling with kids and even though there were bellhops standing around cracking jokes, not one of them offered to help me or my two sons. For $689 a night we got a sub-par (tiny, dark, carpet coming up/off the floor, etc..) room on the FIFTH floor, we werent able to get a higher floor because of the mentioned screw-up with the reservation. Room service offerings are a joke, the room didnt even have a pad of paper and pen for taking notes! The final blow for this place for us was the one evening at 10pm that security came pounding on our door like the Gestapo because they thought they smelled cigarette smoke. The irony - because the hotels designated smoking space is right outside the front doors, the front lobby CONSTANTLY smells like cigarette smoke. I will not be staying here or with the chain again, period. If you are looking for a hotel giving you the Times Square Experience I suggest even the Double Tree over Renaissance! I travel very frequently and am absolutely amazed at the cost of this place and the unfriendly atmosphere. I heard and talked to several other guests while passing in the halls or on the elevators and they had the same thoughts. Oh and the rLoungue is similar to a tiny bar you would find on the edge of town...uninviting, unattractive, and over-priced beyond belief. I know thats sometimes what you get staying in Times Square - but this was absolutely awful.
The only place in the world like this. Times Square has been cleaned up in the last several years. The lights stay on all night. There are many restaurants and theatres in the area. There is a huge television screen with current news playing. It iw a great experience.
Service was HORRIBLE! Waitress didnt know the menu, rude rude rude food runner interrupted our meal obnoxiously & unnecessarily take a menu from under our plate - while we were eating. Then kept coming by and aggressively placing a menu standing upright when we placed it standing down. Really cool views but unprofessional staff ruined the experience.
Worst service of my entire life. The people are horrendous. They force you to pay a tip that is not of your choice. Do NOT go here. The view is not worth the service. Absolutely horrible. Couldnt even split a check more than 2 ways that is NOT stated anywhere. The waiter said that we had to stay in the streets and not come in if we cant pay how they want. Unacceptable
I popped in here one evening, you go into the hotel and up in the lift, it only goes to one floor so you cant go wrong. I believe youre then in the hotel lobby. I had a table for one as I was travelling alone and had a couple of drinks and some deep fried chicken which was delicious. The staff didnt seem all the interested in serving me which was a shame and had got this review marked down slightly.
Service is terrible, food is sub par. Definitely look elsewhere. Really disappointed that we spent a night eating here. Also staying in the hotel, so we will see how that goes. Look for food anywhere else, a hot dog from the street will come with better customer service.
Mohammad the host is the most rude person. Will never come to this lounge again because of his rude service. He would walk away and ignore without answering questions. His asian helper/boss/whatever is equally bad as both would just keep interrupting and would not answer normal common questions about seating. They literally both don’t deserve to have this job and aren’t even worthy of being apart the renaissance team.
Asked for a free (not reserved) table at the window, we were told its not with me. Second attempt, second waiter give me a break, Im sitting people. Afterwards, they forgot our drinks. Clearly, the management doesnt chose the appropriate people to wait at such a privileged location.

2022-03-12A hidden gem for any trip to NYC!! In such a busy place as Times Square, I was amazed at how spacious and nice this place was! I went 2-3 times and back when I went it was open for lunch but this can make a great dinner spot too! Food and drinks were enjoyed by my whole table, the staff were friendly, and the view of course is incredible! I recommend to anyone going to visit!

2022-05-04LOVED this bar!! Most amazing view of Times Square! Great perspective instead of being so high. Managed to get a great table at the front, by the window too! The staff and servers were so friendly and kind. Some of the nicest and most personable I’ve witnessed at all the bars I’ve visited in NYC. Will definitely come back!

What makes ot breaks a place for me is the service and this little gem had the best Alex, Rafael and Jose the manager you all made me feel so welcomed and appreciate your great sense of humor. Bar menu is limited but cant go wrong with the Caesar salad and flat bread. Nice pour of wine as well. I will definitely back Cheers to the R lounge and staff for adding greatness to my vacation. 2017-11-15Had an amazing dinner at the R Lounge! Glenn, Horatio, and Kelly were the BEST!!! The view was spectacular, food was delicious and service was the cherry on top. Everything Kelly recommended exceeded my expectations. A family of 5 sat near by and their children were well behaved and enjoyed the view as much as I did. The energy was spectacular. Very affordable and delicious! To Kelly and Horatio thanks for making dining alone not feel so alone. I loved the care and attention you not only gave me but the guest around me.Will definitely be back. Thanks R Lounge for being a great part to my trip first visit to NYC!!!

2022-05-02We didnt even eat the three cheese pizza with basil. It was basically a giant cracker with a few small mozzarella cubes, covered with at least 5 cups of basil! Hostess is super rude.

2019-12-05Amazing views of the heart of NY Time Square! Great drinks. Decent food with a selection for anyone. One of a kind menu that featured Hot Dogs, Hamburgers, Pizza and NY Style Pretzels. The drinks are just as great as the views!!!
