Dr. Purohit was very professional and very easy to talk to. He alleviated my concerns as best he could and I was delighted to see him in the hospital. He is a well spoken, well educated doctor with amazingly incredible bedside manner. Great doc!
I was 14 minutes late and the receptionist did not allow me to see the doctor. For the record, their policy says grace time is 15 minutes.She told me I should have called to let them know I was late. In reality I had tried to call but the phone number they gave me is the Mount Sinai phone number, not doctor Purohit’s office, which is in a completely different location.Never again.
- Assistant being nasty when she thinks youre talking over her but you cant finish a phrase yourself if she doesnt agrees or thinks youre wrong.- Had an appointment. Been referred for a scan and the doctor wont call me to share the results. Have to check in on their app for a video call (to bill me more?).- The wait was 50min later than the time of the appointment.- Been billed for an hour for a 5min visit.AVOID THIS DOCTOR
Fantastic Dr. And Human Being. He layed out all of the options for me to Treat My Prostate Cancer. I feel very lucky to have him as my Dr.
Excellent bedside manner, helpful answers to whatever questions I come with, and did my surgery with no major complications. Overall recommended.
Great doctor and amazing staff. Very professional, compassionate, and knowledgeable. Highly recommended!

2021-04-17Very happy with the results from my 2 urethroplasty surgeries with Dr Purohit. I thought he and his staff were very professional also. No complaints here at all. I would recommend him to anyone.Also, I had some issues with the nursing staff at Mount Sinai hospital after the first surgery and Dr Purohit took my complaint seriously. He resolved it for me before my next surgery. I thought that was great of him.

2020-12-22The dedication and the amount of work this doctor and his team goes through caring for their patients is one of the most remarkable things. I was fortunate enough to have gender confirmation surgery under Dr. Purohit almost 2 months ago. The work the he has done was remarkable and I am very pleased with the results he was able to do. I recommend anyone looking to having surgery and in the place to do so. Do so. You won’t regret it. It will take time for surgery to happen but a lot of things do. I recommend him and if I could give him and his work more than 5 stars I would. I am very appreciative and happy. Thank you so much!

2021-12-02Dr. Purohit is nothing short of a miracle worker. I was getting regular UTI’s caused by urinary retention from by several “strictures” in the urethra. I am immune-suppressed so any infection is dangerous for me and I was in the hospital a lot for these UTI’s that would then spread into other areas like my kidney.Dr. Purohit excised 7 cm of my urethra and rebuilt it with cells from my cheek. Absolutely miraculous. I haven’t had a UTI since the surgery 2 years ago and my urine stream is now strong where it was not before.In addition to being excellent as a surgeon, Dr. Purohit is kind, gentle and reassuring in his manner. Can’t recommend him highly enough!

2020-10-06Dr. Purohit is such a wonderful surgeon and definitely at the top of his speciality in gender confirmation surgery. Dr. Purohit was my surgeon when I had male to female gender confirmation surgery on Aug 14 2020, and I had the best experience of my life. He demonstrated a level of expertise, as well as sensitivity and concern for my well being that went above and beyond my expectations. Throughout my transition process, he was always available to answer questions and talk through any concerns. Through his bedside manner and professionalism, he took away any anxieties I had and made me feel very safe. The results are amazing! I love my new body and I couldn’t be happier! the healing process was smooth, and he was always available for any post surgery concerns or questions. As his patient, it was made very clear to me that I was his primary concern. I can’t say enough good things about him and his practice. Dr. Purohit made my dreams come true, to feel at home in my own body, and I will forever be so grateful!!

2020-12-20I had a a reconstructive surgery done in December of 2019. I was under for 4 hours and the results showed his effort! After my final cystoscopy, it was clear that Dr. Purohit did a great job! Hes very attentive, open and interested in your issues and concerns. He is also quite knowledge in his field, as you would expect. I would highly recommend Dr. Purohit!

2020-12-12Having had a wonderfully successful surgical procedure performed by Dr Purohit, I want to take the opportunity here to recommend his medical care. I had what is called a urethral stricture that was progressively getting worse. Unfortunately, it got to the point where I had to rush to the emergency room at Jacoby Medical Center after becoming unable to urinate in early August of this year. It was very painful and shocking. It took three nurses and two doctors to provide relief by finally getting a catheter through my urethra after some time. Thankfully, I was given a referral to the very same urologist - Dr Rajveer Purohit - recommended to me by a doctor I confided with about 18 months earlier.At my first visit to Dr Purohits east side Manhattan office, like each following visit, I got to see him within 5 to 8 minutes of the appointed time. After taking what I think was a sonogram of my urethra, he showed me the segment of it that had narrowed tremendously. It was very concerning.On my second visit, on a whiteboard he had written out my surgical options, which he explained to me thoroughly. I opted for a buccal mucosal graft. My surgery was performed at Mt Sinais Downtown Manhattan location.After two subsequent follow-up visits, I can say that my outcome was just as Dr Purohit predicted. There is absolutely no facial swelling from the buccal mucosal graft, and I can now, very thankfully, empty a full bladder in mere seconds, as opposed to the one or two minutes it took me earlier this year.Dr Purohit does not support Tottenham Hotspur. Hes not perfect. What I found in seeing him though is a caring, thoughtful, very capable and amicable medical practioner. I highly recommend his urological services. If like me you are suffering from urethral stricture and want that situation resolved without harm to erectile function, you should see Dr Purohit if possible. Wonderful doctor. Wonderful staff.

2021-03-25I highly recommend Dr.Rajveer to anyone seeking a urologist. He was able to fix a problem I had down there with ease and confidence. He is known to fix the most complex cases no matter what (I was referred to go to him because my other urologist said that Rajveer will be successful in resolving my issue and he was right!

2020-11-26In my research to find the right doctor for my gender affirmation surgery, I had always assumed, wrongly, that the doctor had to be a plastic surgeon. After my initial consultation with Dr. Rajveer Purohit, Director of Reconstructive Urology at Mt. Sinai, Icahn School of Medicine, I realized, this was an extremely limiting perspective.A surgeon who has earned his or her spurs performing often complex urogenital reconstructive surgeries has a far more deeper understanding of the organs involved from both a functional and a structural perspective that goes far beyond just their aesthetics.As it turned out, having undergone the bottom surgery under Dr. Rajveer and Dr. Miroslav Djordjevic, (Director of Belgrade Center for Genital Reconstructive Surgery), I feel, that was the best decision I had ever made. Life is so much more beautiful and authentic now.....!I strongly recommend anyone remotely considering a bottom surgery (vaginoplasty) to schedule an initial consultation with Dr. Purohit’s office in NYC ASAP. Both Dr. Raj and Dr. Miro are experts in their fields and bring over five decades of reconstructive urogenital and gender affirmation surgery experience.And, who knows, it just might turn out to be the best decision you ever made in your life!

2019-03-09There probably isnt enough room here for me to say all the good things that I want to say about Dr. Rajveer S. Purohit , but I will surely try to make it fit. For 15 years I was struggling with a severe urethral stricture and had multiple prior surgeries to open it up with all of them resulting in only minor and temporary relief, with the stricture recurring and worsening with each attempt. Luckily I was referred to DR. Purohit the last time around. Dr. Purohit carefully assessed my stricture with dye studies and determined it was repairable. After an almost 5 hour reconstructive surgery, my stricture is gone and I am fully functional in every way. In addition to his exemplary skills, the Dr. is also caring and compassionate as displayed during my initial consultation when he took the time to get to know me and what my condition was forcing me to exclude from my life (all of which have been returned to me, BTW). He even used the whiteboard to illustrate my damaged tissues and how he planned to repair the condition, thus giving me a complete picture of what to expect. In addition, his office is well equipped and his staff is caring, efficient, competent and professional. I cant imagine anyone having a bad experience with this team. Run, do not walk to Dr. Purohit if you need help with any urological issues.
