Recreation Park in other cities:
Kids love it and definitely keeps them occupied and its nice that you guys made it big enough so mommy has no excuse to be lazy and just watch!!! No no no not at rec my son even likes to remind me ....... Mom, its cool though we can go to Rec. park, then us fat kids can play too, mom!! Its not just for pnut sizesThey got the jumbo sized, heavy duty type, large kid friendly playground!!! LolIts pnuts fave because that means that she has more people to play tag with, more people to romp all around and even threw the playground with!!I love it bc, 1. I get to hang out with my 2 faves in the world but to be completely honest,.......... what is really the best part that really gets me, and, yanks my heart strings is watching my minnies; the little itty bitty pretty Minnie, and the large, loud, ruff, rowdy, and rugged Minnie and witnessing that love and amazing bond between a big brother and his little sister!!ITS MY FAVERITE THING IN THIS WHOLE WIDE WORLD TO WATCH
This is a wonderful family park. It has an innovtive, wonderful play area with many things to explore. The play area is handicap accessible,, with a wheelchair swing. There is a paved walking trail and parking lots. Recently built professional tennis courts, a swimming pool, ice-skating rink, baseball field, carousel, restrooms and a band stand.
We are the middle of a extreme heat warning so the city of Binghamton has opened up all its pools for free which is why Im here. That was really thoughtful of the powers that be and the park and pool are pretty clean but Im sure it still has its share of pee in the pool!
I didn’t take a ton of pictures here, but having lived in that area for years and coming back to visit and seeing this playground... I am impressed. It seems Binghamton has finally decided to clean up a little. I like that it has a lot of access for all kids: big, small, disabled, etc. I love that the spinning merry go round thing is in the ground - and the seats and doors! Way safer than when I used to play on them as a kid! I wouldn’t tell someone from out of the area that they have to come here, but if you live nearby it’s a nice place to go. I know when I visit family there we will be going again :)
What a beautiful park. My brothers Memorial service was held there on October 2, 2021. Children playing in the background it was really nice. He loved the children. Thanks to the management for allowing us to use the parks pavilion. And thanks to ALL who were involved in making it a great celebration of my brothers life. Cheryl, Denise, Mary, Jamaica, etc. Love you all ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
I will compare this park to a kingdom for little kids. the playground offers so so so many things to play on. the carousel is amazing and i believe there is a pool if i remember correctly. this is definitely a place that has everything to keep kids entertained for hours
Was once my back yard. Decent little park (size roughly 4 acres) with multiple tennis courts, a fairly large play ground, a pool, a parking lot on either which side and a dog walking path that twists about the whole park. Oh and who could forget the carousel - still active as ever!
This place was awesome! It has such a variety of play areas, including a castle and a carousel. But dont plan on eating a meal in the picnicky areas. The bees were very, very aggressive. Adults might have been able to handle it, but not little kids. Go there to play only. Eat b4 you come or after you leave during bee season.
I love being in the park because it is beautiful I take my kids there to play with others I love laying in the grass swimming in the pool its very comfortable I love watching others play and the Merry-Go-Round is very beautiful also and its lots of things to do there and I believe is very safe
When those awful people burned down the old play ground I figured with the money shortage, that it wasn’t going to be rebuilt. The new playground is AMAZING so many swings and it’s all about music. It’s just a lot better than the old one. They have a train the children can play in. It’s definitely my go too play ground. Only thing is I wish they had a fence with one way open
Wow! The kids playground here is wheelchair accessible and absolutely incredible. It is better than what you might see in some Amusement parks. The ground keeper told us an amazing story of community after the main section of it had been partially burnt down the year before. The community came together and it ended up being built bigger and better. Brilliant! Also, peeked inside the slightly derelict building in the center of the park only to find a treasure.. one of Binghamtons 6 famous Carousels / Merry-go-rounds!Truly incredible!
This was the first time I have been able to take my grandbabies here because of Covid and the live in the Buffalo area. They said this is the best playground that they have ever been to. It kept them busy for several hours and that is amazing for a 7 and 9yr old. Thank you for the amazing rebuild.
I went to this park about a year ago, and it was amazing. You can feel the joy that comes free every time you enter. There is even playground equipment for disabled kids, so they can have some of the fun that we get to enjoy. A few days ago to a week ago some people burned down the park! :(, but they are now hosting times to come and clean the park. They said that their next clean up is on June 27, so feel free to come and make a difference for the greater good! :)
Tragically, it was recently burned but its already been rebuilt, so almost everything is new. Padded ground, swings- including special needs (the wheelchair rolls up onto it), small rock climbing wall, slides, plenty of stairs and climbers, music toys, small village... Great playground for little ones. There are numerous picnic tables, no grills. Adjoining the park is a large field, baseball field and tennis courts. There are 2 spacious parking lots. Merry go round closed in the winter.
They really did such an amazing job on the remake of the park! Tons more stuff to do,more engaging and it is definitely larger,so children arent tripping over each other anymore. Also it is more safe with the semi-cushioned and stable wood chip base,AND is handicapped accessible now. Theyve given children with disabilities a chance to just be kids and have fun. So great.
Awesome park! Ive never been to a park so handicapable. They had a swing and merry-go-round for those in wheelchairs. They had an awesome playground my 2 and 4 yr old loved. A free carousel in a building that last longer than any Ive ever paid for. Extremely diverse people, which I love. They had a pool, many paths to walk, several gazebos, massive playground.Definitely a place to take the family for an afternoon!
Beautiful park equipped with one of the best handicapped friendly playgrounds you can find for counties! Also, includes an amazing historic carousel and bandstand with not only local ties of Endicott Johnson Shoe Company but connections to the world famous Rod Serling and his show The Twilight Zone.
Beautifully restored carousel. Free rides for everyone, not just little kids. Adults can ride on the horses. Nice park beyond the carousel with accessible playground. Has swings for infants. The carousel is open in the summer until Labor Day. Theres also a pool behind the carousel with lifeguards. Plenty of parking.
Very nice park for kids. The playground is one of the largest Ive seen. The historic carosel is interesting and enjoyable, and the fact that its free makes it a must see if youre there. The park while not small isnt really that large where its worth biking but is large enough for an evening stroll.
The new playground at this place is huge! Its also designed to be inclusive of those with disabilities. This also means that many of the areas of the jungle gym that are usually difficult for parents to access are a lot more accessible. So, parents can have a lot more fun playing along side their kids!
Beautiful park with a little bit of everything. Playground, pool, ball field, carousel and tree lined walking area.EV drivers: Two level 2 chargers are in the parking area near the ball field. Clipper Creek style, free, and both in good repair at the time of this post. Both chargers occupied in an evening in June while baseball games were going on.
Recreation Park is a beautiful place for families to enjoy swimming in an immaculately clean pool, play tennis, enjoy a picnic and children can have special fun on the Carousel and the newly built, creative playground. There are often special fairs and events for people to enjoy as well.
We went to this park specifically to check out the Rod Serling plaque in the gazebo and the carousel which has free rides until 8 p.m. We had no idea that an artist had painted scenes from different Twilight Zone episodes around the outside of the carousel. Very cool! Lovely park, lots of shade, great playground for kids, and an outdoor public pool. Hope to return when they eventually erect a statue in his honour!!
Best park around! Big kids park and little kids park with parent benches in between. Rubber ground, so easy on the knees! Completely handicap accessible. Theres bathrooms, a pool, walking trail, tennis courts, soccer field, and carousel all within the same lot. Love the musical playground section. The only thing to note is that the elementary school across the street uses the playground for recess, so it can get chaotic if you come during recess!
This is the biggest most beautiful park in Binghamton, New York. It features seasonal swimming, tennis courts, and a beautifully restored Carousel. There are walking pathways throughout. A wonderful woodsy area to hike around in, plus a well equipped playground for the children. There are two ample sized parking lots, also handicapped accessibility.
Nice park, the playground is great with lots of neat features. If you are interested in the Twilight Zone this is the park that the episode Walking Distance was based on. There is a plaque commemorating this in the pavilion in the center of the park. The paintings on the carousel are also Twilight Zone themed. The carousel is well maintained, clean and like all carousels in the greater Binghamton area free to ride.
Beautiful park, but go during the day when older kids are in school unless you want your children to learn a whole new colorful vocabulary and distasteful behaviors. It was really a shame too. Park officials try by putting up signs, but even when asked to refrain from using the language around young children they wouldnt stop.
This is another gem in the City of Binghamton. A beautiful pool, vintage carousel, and new and large payscale for kids that is also friendly to the disabled, a couple ball fields, tennis courts, and ample green space. Truly a beautiful park, that is well maintained. This park can be very busy at times, so keep an eye on your kids! There are also two parking lots, street parking. and basketball hoops. Enjoy!
Quiet.. In summer Rec Park is alive with people playing tennis and softball or swimming or just enjoying the summer.. The Carrosel and bandstand made famous by Rod Serling in his famous TV series Twilight Zone are located here as is the home he grew up in a few blocks nearby.
Had a great time too many ducks in the area, lots of tables BBQ pits, kids play place lovely lake, well kept, even walking asphalt path, access points to River, and bike riding path for several miles if you can get a table, its beautiful its clean save for the duck poo.Spent the afternoon practicing for the September 19 Latin percussion open mic meet and greet.
I lived here most of my life and I always loved the Carolsel and just a few years ago they made the park awesome for anyone to enjoy. My son took part in making that park and he was a volunteer in working on it too. They have alot of events that goes on throughout the year also. It is worth checking out if you havent already.
Best park in Binghamton. Has a carousel, playground, pool, tennis courts, soccer field and baseball field as well as an amazing Grove of trees to have picnics in and a bandstand. The people that work at the park and take care of it are extremely nice and helpful. My three-year-old loves it here!
All the lifeguards have different rules. I have to pay a grounds fee just to sit on the grass while my family swims. Changing rules all the time about where my granddaughters can swim. They keep making them take tests to be in the deeper part. But yet my granddaughters go off the diving board at state park. I wont be going back again
Rec Park is centrally located on the Westside of Binghamton. It has many amenities, some of which are; swimming pool, tennis courts, basketball and softball fields, two basketball courts, kids playground, walking paths and a nationally famous Carousel that is free to ride! One negative thing is some nasty people dont clean up after their dogs on the pathways.
Has improved since the 80s and 90s.Carousel has been revamped and restored. There is a new Tree Fort play ground.Best priced pool in the area.It is a shame they removed a statue that was put in place by Johnson since at or before the 1920s.It stood there that long, until some snowflake made a big deal about nothing...
To the people who are rioting I can understand your anger what I can’t understand is how you destroy something that has to do with children when children had nothing to do with the reason you’re rioting. Why would you destroy a children’s park? Why are you hurting the children, when the children are our future? Try using your brains a little, it’s one thing to voice your opinion and to be angry... it’s another thing to hurt the children for no reason!
Rec Park is easily one of the best public spaces in Binghamton. Tons of space for kids to play on the disbility-accessible playground and plenty of benches for adults to sit and watch from. Its a lovely park to walk in as well, with lots of paved paths and lovely scenery. Some people may not like the number of squirrels, but I think theyre funny to watch.
For a park inside a metro, this is a great park. Its a great park even for outside a metro, but also convenient. Sports fields, public swimming pool, brand new jungle-gym, and a manicured area with some big trees. A nice place for a picnic, a game, or a dog walk. LARPer Central!
Fun for everyone, pools, playgrounds, tennis courts, picnic tables, a new chess and draughts table, spongy play ground for able and disabled. Wheel chair swing. Get in contact with parks Dept for how to operate. Baseball, 2 basket ball courts, swings for young and old. Picnic tables, toilets, showers25 cents for all children who can walk to use the pool and 50 cents for adults. A pond and spout area with a stone bench. Parking on Laurel ave side and Beethoven sideLots of fast food close by - Subway, Wendys, McDonalds, Popeys Kennedys Chicken, Dunkin Donuts Nirchis Pizza Price Chopper s little further but not far O have walked it many times. Picnic tables. Bring your happy self to this perfect space
Working Vintage carousel and Wurlitzer Band Organ. Sculptured Toddler/Baby Swimming Pool as well as a seperate kiddie pool and a larger swimming pool. Diving boards have been removed sadly,as they have been from most parks in the area. First the childrens flamethrowers and now this?! Chenango State Park, may be the only one left with fully functional diving boards. Good pickup games of B-ball to be had here. Just pick up your dogs excrement and the park shines.

2022-04-25We were looking for a fun place to meet some friends and this park was a hit! Sprawling play structures throughout the green park made it easy to find a quiet place to play. The main playground is exceptionally designed with all children in mind-including a wheelchair swing and ramps making it easy for adults to get to children who get stuck. A smaller play structure-again with a ramp-gave my young kids a place to escape to when the kids from a local school came out for recess. Park benches, seating, and close by parking and bathrooms ensured that out family will visit any time our travels take us to Binghamton!

2021-09-03This park is wonderful for the kids. It’s clean and big enough for the little ones to spread out and social distance. The carrousel is free and the ride is s really long. One time on the ride is your typical 3x length at the zoo

2021-07-03A unique experience, knowing that this is where they filmed one of the acclaimed Twilight Zone series shows. My family and I watched walking distance prior to going and rode on the carousel that was filmed in the show.

2022-04-25It was a beautiful day and everyone was in the park. Its a shame that the original one was burnt down. I was there when it opened with the new park it was beautiful it was so many things to do for the kids what fool would burn down a kids part. But thats the past and we must move on at least the children do still have a safe place to play. And people still practice social distancing.

2018-08-26This a great park and I wished I lived closer. The playground is amazing and so is the giant pool during the summer. The baseball fields are well groomed and it looks like a great place to watch kids play. I didn’t play on the tennis courts but they looked like they were well taken care of. The free carrousel is amazing and worth the trip just for that.

2020-12-03Great place in Westside Binghamton neighborhood, great for running and walking, and walking the dogs, also has a beautiful playground for kids, especially they renewed it recently, and kids love it. It also has Tennis courts. It has two parking lots, so no worries about the parking spot.
