Redford Hotel in New York
Positive: Everything about this hotel worked for me. The location had an abundance of restaurants/bars with a wide variety of different foods. The room was clean and well maintained. The staff was very helpful and friendly. Negative: There was nothing I disliked about this hotel.
Very friendly staff, great location in the Lower East Side for an affordable price. Sarah checked us in and is so friendly and helpful! The air conditioning worked well and with the window closed, it was very quiet. The room was small but sufficient for 2 people. The bathroom is great. Cute room too!
We had a wonderful time and appreciate the service. Giovanni, the receptionist, was very professional, attentive and friendly. Only complain is that people have not respect for visitors and that we stayed with grandkids ages 5 & 9 and had a very bad experience with one of the hotel guests that was completely naked in the elevator and when the elevator opened he just walked out of the elevator and walked to the reception area and didnt cared for any of the guests and minors.
I was a little skeptical when I first booked it because of the pictures of the outside. But to my surprise it was way better. The rooms were nice, and clean. The neighborhood in my opinion was the best part. Everything you need was within a walking distance. The subway was close. I know that homelessness is a problem in the city but it was not here
I absolutely loved this hotel! The room was cozy, the bed was comfortable and the view was awesome outside our 10th floor room. I hope we get to stay here when we come back to NYC this winter. The staff were so sweet and the rooftop was AMAZING❤🤗 I ALSO LOOOOVED THE GIRL FROM THE RECEPTION 🙈❤ she was full of life dancing an singing every day ❤
After staying with them for a week, I needed to extend for one day. The front desk put $400 in extra charges for a security deposit on my card trying to extend me. They are unable to refund me for 3-5 business days and are still asking me to pay for the tonight. In total I’m being charged $600 for a room that is regularly around $100. Management refuse to comp the room for the night and now I’m completely broke because this hotel took all my money
I was so excited to finally travel, but alas, Redford Hotel had to ensure my day was as rotten as their service. I booked a room with them and somehow I fell through the system. What do they do? Wave me off instead of letting me speak to the manager. Apparently the manager was not available except to the white couple who complained about their room and suddenly they had a free upgrade and I had to pay 3x times as much for the room I booked already. Do NOT stay here.
Zero star is possible.. Worst experience in all my many hotel stays . Visiting NY and booked a room with double beds , checked in and was told no room with double beds are available and the best they can offer 3 adults is to cancel the reservation or a king size room , not sure where I was going to find the money to book another hotel or why did they think it was possible for 3 adults to share a bed . Staff was very unprofessional.
A small hotel in a great location in the East village. Small but lovely room, perfect for a single person or couple staying in NY. It was great for me, the room was stylish & clean, comfy bed, nice staff & lovely terrance to sit out on. Some street noise at night but its NY so it didnt bother me. Id definitely stay here again.
The location was great. However, I do not understand how you can call something like this a hotel. The hotel room was dirty and full of mold. A power outlet did not work, 3 lamps were also not working. The TV missing the batteries. The walls had holes and nails in it. There was no mirror. In the mildew of the hotel aisle was hard to breath. For our suitcases there was hardly any space. This hotel should be renovated urgently and one should not call a storage room as a hotel room for 4 persons!
We booked this for 3 nights through an Expedia partner which clearly advertised, All 32 rooms provide conveniences like refrigerators and coffee makers. We specifically booked this hotel over other hotels because of the listed amenities, yet when we arrived we found out that none of the rooms had a fridge, because of renovations. We also discovered that other amenities were missing as well that are listed on their own site, such as the guest lounge and tea/coffee in the lobby. Now a rooftop terrace was also listed, which technically does exist. However theres no furniture, so I guess you can just go stand around and be awkward? When we mentioned some of these things to the front desk, we were told we would be contacted by the manager. During our whole stay, we never heard from the manager. This was extremely frustrating as these were basic things we were expecting and no one even reached out to find out why we were unsatisfied. We can confirm as mentioned as in other reviews, the hotel hallways, lobby, and elevator have an extremely musty smell, although the room did not exhibit the same odor.We werent expecting a 5-star hotel, but we expecting to have the bare minimum amenities that were advertised. We understand going through renovations, but amenities not provided should not be advertised until renovations are complete.
My stay at The Redford Hotel was perfect, quaint and comfortable (all for an affordable price). The location is perfect - it keeps you away from the hustle and bustle of Upper Manhattan but offers a lot to do within walking distance in the area or various nearby subway stops. The hotel staff are very kind, quick and efficient making guests feel very welcomed. The rooms are small and cozy, perfect for a single stayer, a couple or a pair of friends. Rooms are stylish and offer great views (I stayed on the top floor). Yes, you can hear some muffled outside noises from in your room but this is New York City...it is a loud city and no matter where you stay youre going to hear city noise. The only downfall was that our air conditioning unit kept leaking because we had the air on so high BUT reception sent maintenance up right away to take care of it and clean up the water spill. Would 100% recommend this lovely hotel to anyone looking for a place to stay while in NYC! Thank you for Redford Hotel for such an enjoyable stay!
Location is great, walking distance from lots of great eats and night life venues. Hotel was very basic. Small room, clean enough, not great for anything except sleeping. We got a first floor, handicap room (didnt ask for it, just was given one), there was graffiti on the handicap shower bench. You get what you pay for and all we cared for was a place to crash close to where we planned on going out for the night.
Great location and customer service!Minutes from the subway and very close to everything- midtown, chinatown, world trade center, etc.The rooms were updated and very nice and clean. On the weekend nights the area does attract a young crowd that go out to have a good time so it can get a little loud and crazy out on the streets if youre walking around, but we did not hear anything from our rooms. We will definitely be back!
Lobby smelled quite fresh upon entering the building. Clerk was nice and the place looked clean. Booked a room, low price for a last minute booking, $200, especially in the area if East Village which is not the finest but oh so close to a 100s of bars. Room size was good for the king bedroom in the City. Bed and bath were convenient and clean. I dont remember having issues with the AC except that the vent/register was placed nearer to the entrance, so it was less cool around the bed. Water pressure decent, one elevator but never had to wait long. Good night on a short notice on Friday
1. They didn’t install sound killing windows,So we have been bothered for 4 hours between 4-8 am because the recycle trucks and deliveries.2.Their elevator is right beside our shower, we can hear quite a lot noise from every single time when people using it even the washing room was closed.3. I booked for 2 days, and would like to extend for another night.I told them about it 1day before my checkout time, them said yes I can do it. At the second day when I was doing it them told me my room is rented out, and I need to book a another room for 70Usd higher price, and I need to move my all stuff into a room them didn’t even clean up yet. And there is no any apologize form they.
Hotel is very clean, and the staff are lovely. Jasmine was very helpful with information we needed. And Angel was pleased to give a brief guide through the village and recommended some really good places to eat. Both staff were alert and help us of our needs. Area is an amazing place to stay in and the hotel is right in the middle of it all. Loved our stay!
Good for one night. Ive stayed in many NYC hotels I expect them to be small but this is very small. The website stated there is a $50 hold on a card for the stay. I was very upset to see they put a hold on the exact amount of money I paid for the room ($220) other then that. Location was good.
The room we requested wasn’t ready when we arrived “according to the front desk employee”. I was offered the room right behind the front desk. It was much smaller than expected. The room was also very drafty and the sound proof wasn’t great. Definitely not going to visit again.
Great little place on the East side. No beds are big here though! The double room has 2, twin beds. Single room has a full. Big bathroom. Great location - food and shops allllll around. Subway within 5 minute walk (Essex Street). Very clean. Housekeeping daily. Great price.
Clean place and accomodating staff. Some of them are quite approacheable and friendly. Small room but toleratably clean so i personally didnt mind the size. However it is very noisy at night time. Definitely need to install double window to block off the noise from the street. You can hear constant honking from the street all night. It was annoying to have 5 inch width black out curtain at the end of each sides of window only; leaving the most of the window covered with sheer light curtain which does not even block off the street lights. Location is close to the metro station and restaurants but ill probably wont stay here again since i could not have a single good night sleep here.
This is definitely the worst $300/night hotel Ive ever stayed in. The rooms are in bad shape, lights/outlets not working, wallpaper peeling off, tiles broken, etc. At first I was going to give it 3 stars, but on my last day the housekeeping decided to ignore my do not disturb sign and go in the room when I very much did not want them in there. Overall a very bad experience.
Had to cancel the trip with a full week notice. Comfort Inn has a strict No refund policy -no refunds, no credit, no nothing. So I had to eat the money. They promptly rebooked the room. The policy is clearly stated on their website. But understand it is real. And unfathomable in this day of AirBnB. If youre booking a week out and nothing can go wrong, fine. If youre planning a trip farther ahead, ask yourself if you can afford to lose all of your money on the booking. No? Book elsewhere. Note this policy applies to all chain hotels managed by Choice Hotels.
The room smelled when we first entered. We tracked the urine odor to the bathroom and kept the door closed, The room was very small making it difficult to walk around the bed. they have no parking we had to park a block away. We passed on breakfast. The blow dryer cord was about 2 foot long making it unusable, and the place is way over priced. I would have been more comfortable sleeping in the car. Bottom line we wont be back nor ever refer anybody here.
Had some slip-ups at first here, but they treated me well, and were apologetic. My fire alarm went off multiple times in two different rooms while I stayed here, and that was quite annoying. They could use some maintenance like cleaning the AC machines and figuring out whats going on with the fire alarms. The staff are very nice, and its the best price around.
My wife and I stayed from May 25- June 7Though the room is not large the service is excellent.and the rates are very reasonable . We were made to feelbelonged like our second home in a big and fast moving city of New YorkThe staff are very friendly, approachable and go out of their way toserve all our needs. Anyone staying there will not be disappointed. We were very glad to have stayed close to 2 weeks there. The location is close to several places of tourists interests. Its within walking distance to Chinatown . We are Chinese from Sydney Australiaand we love the good food and low prices in Chinatown. The metro trains and buses are just round the corner. Its also close to The Statue of Liberty and Wall Street.
We dont need spoons to eat waffles, was the answer of the highly qualified receptionist to my question, whether there were any spoons, downstairs in the cellar, where the huuuge breakfast was. The breakfast consisted of waffles, cereals and oatmeal, which could be made in their high-tech microwave. The hotel itself is pretty outstanding, the doors arent jammed at all, which wont wake you up in the nighttime if someone would try to open or close their door. The rooms are super clean, no wallpaper coming off the walls at all.Being 3 persons in a room made for 4 persons (propably Ethiopians) we had soooo much space, the we didnt have to pile our suitcases at all.We stayed 1 night, which was propably already too much.
The room was alright and it was clean the bed was also comfortable but the only problem was the sound it goes outside people who are in the lobby can hear you inside and I don’t think id feel comfortable that was I would ask from the owner to take a look at this little issue so I’d come here more often
This hotel is all about location, location, location. The rooms are small (yet amply clean), the wallpaper is peeling, but it is close to wonderful restaurants and bars in the best of the Lower Eat Side. I cant really complain as it is a safe and clean place to rest your head, but it is in dire need of a facelift.
Very good location for the night life, dont bring a child there only good for adults.Rooms are tiny, they wont change your sheets, they will turn them around and put them inside out...Blinds dont close very wellStaff was okWe had a breakfast but didnt have it, i think it was in the basement or something they didnt tell us much..Awesome restaurants close by, good pizza a few doors up in like a little white shop cheap and yummyBreakfast go to the medi cafe staff and food was amazing!!!3/10
Booger on the wall! Worst hotel experience ever. The place was disgusting and dirty. Hotel attendant was no where to be found when I needed to check out but was talking loudly enough in the lobby to wake me up in the middle of the night. Awful place. Would never come back regardless of what Management says.
Cant wait to get back to this one! Its your basic hotel room but does include a fridge. The subway is only a few blocks away on Delancy street and in the opposite direction you have Katz deli. And if you like burgers as much as I do you have Mikeys Burgers right next door.
Lovely staff, but IMPOSSIBLE to sleep a wink because this place is next door to some sort of club which really kicks off as it spills out into the street between 3 and 4 am... everyone finally goes home to sleep at 5 am and you get 20 minutes sleep before the street cleaners come through at about 5.30 am ... we literally got no sleep for our two nights here.
CHARGED FOR STAY WHEN I DID NOT STAY THERE!! HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE! NEVER RECOMMEND THIS PLACE TO ANYONE ELSE EVER!!ALSO THE COMFORT INN ON CHRYSTIE STREET NYC LOCATION NEVER STAYED THERE BUT THEY CHARGED ME NEVERTHELESS!! A RIP OFF!!! REFUSED TO REFUND THE AMOUNT OF OVER $ 350!!. A FRAUD. NEVER STAY THERE UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES!
We had booked the room for 3 people and three nights. What we then got for a whopping $700 is a joke. Of course, New York is expensive, but there is definitely a better way. The bin was not emptied and the beds were not made. For two people, the bed measured exactly 1.20 meters. The room was so small that there was only 40 cm space between the beds. The bathroom was ok at first glance, especially almost larger than the room. But if you looked more closely, you already found traces of black mold, which was well covered by generally black joints. Even though the hotel was in the middle of the city, the service was really lacking. The hotel should definitely improve here so that the ratings get a little better. We had booked the room for 3 people and three nights. What we then got for a whopping $700 is a joke. To flee! Very disappointing stay from the moment we arrived! Im not used to leaving negative opinions on anything but this is clearly misleading advertising with photos on the site that do not reflect reality! We hesitated with the Sixty Les Hôtel and fell from the heights when we happened to pass by.... Its clearly another level! At the Redford its dirty, outdated, not maintained (coat rack torn off, door security on the floor, old screw hole in the wall not replaced...), noisy (it feels like were sleeping with the neighbors, in addition to the permanent blower), room downright too small! The so-called double beds are not even 140 cm, so for 1 and a half people! No storage at all so things are placed on the suitcases on the ground where you can, because not even the place to move around, the so-called roof top is not accessible... Honestly, no positive point even the location!A positive star, perhaps, for the only nice employee who was on the day!
The hotel is located on the charming Lower East Side (Little Italy and Chinatown) and is well connected by tube (Delancey / Essex). Our room was nicely decorated and clean. The only downside was that the air conditioning has spread a moldy smell. The friendly and decent staff made up for it. Defintive recommendation!
In this hotel, although I had a small room, I liked it because it is very quiet, comfortable and not expensive, there are many restaurants, shops and even art galleries. The only good thing is the location. The rooms that sell as a double bed, for two adults, are beds less than 120cm. The rooms that offer two beds for two adults each can fit an adult and one child per bed. In addition, the space in the rooms is minimal, having to walk sideways to pass between the beds and without space just for luggage.

2022-01-19Don’t book here they will scam you out of money! The rooms are acceptable and the location is great but it’s not worth loosing out on hundreds of dollars. We booked a room here in the fall of 2021 and unfortunately needed to cancel due to Covid travel complications. According to Redford’s websites cancellation is fully refunded up to 48 hours before your stay. We booked through hotels.com and canceled with them over three days before our stay. Hotels.com confirmed our cancel was sent within the allotted time. Unfortunately, the Redford charged us not once but TWICE! for a hotel room we never stayed in.When we realized the charge we contacted hotels.com who explained they canceled with the hotel and could not refund our money (hotels.com has been utterly unhelpful and will not be using their services ever again after this experience). When we try the contact the Redford we can either not get a hold of anyone or someone responds with “are manager is not in at the moment and will contact us shortly.” Shockingly we never hear back from a manager. This one-way phone tag has gone on for months now.Our last time contacting hotels.com the conceding that the Redford was probably a “scam” hotel but still host them on their website. Unless you want to loose out on $300 on a room you did not stay in, DO NOT STAY AT THE REDFORD!

2022-01-04Positive: The location is ideal , the staff is super friendly and welcoming . Great restaurants, convenient shops and bodega near by along with a fun high energy location - the subway station F line is very close. Negative: All of staff members were so nice and welcoming . The room would work for one or two people but not the best for four as the beds were really small along with rooms being very small and the hvac was older and had a musty smell.

2022-06-02Very basic. No housekeeping services still, and the fixtures and fittings are all a bit tired. Marks on the walls, etc. Very small rooms. However - the beds are super comfortable, the bathrooms are pretty modern, and the location is amazing, and only a block from the subway. It’s a good budget choice overall.

2022-06-11The staff were nice and friendly. The location was good also, lots of great places to eat nearby. But the room was not in good shape. The towel rod was missing, toilet paper holder half out of the wall, and gaps around the receptacle. No desk/chair to do work on a laptop while in the room.

2022-05-31I would skip this hotel. The location is great but the hotel is a glorified hostel. The rooms are tiny. so small there is no closet and only about 6 inches between the bed and the walls. The windows are made of thin glass so you will hear everything, the air conditioner is loud but if you try to turn it off the ice machine in the hallway will keep you up.The bedding is polyester and you will wake up drenched in sweat regardless of the air conditioning.Oh and you have to go to reception and request your room to be cleaned first thing in the morning or it will not be done. Of course this was never mentioned at check in nor was it written at reception or in the room.

2022-03-30Great hotel, room was clean and decently sized. Plus they have a balcony on the 7th floor for smoking, so you dont have to go outside on the street. Staff was friendly, management was very accommodating, as we arrived very early in the morning and only charged about $50 extra to extend our stay a bit.

2022-02-22Positive: The price was excellent in comparison with the location/ luxury of the room. Overall the room was just what was needed. The bathroom was nice. Negative: The room was not thoroughly clean. There was a small stain on the bed/ wall, lamp shade was broken, and we could not access the guest balcony at any point during our stay.

2022-03-15Loved the location of the hotel, but I would stay elsewhere if I were you. At the end of the day, you get what you pay for. My room was dirty (hair on the bathroom floor when i arrived, pen marks on the bed sheets, dust on surfaces) when I arrived. There were nails sticking out of the walls, the full length mirror was detached from the wall on one side, and lightbulbs were missing from a few lamps. After I checked out a few days later I noticed that they charged a separate “resort fee” on my credit card @ $15/night that wasn’t included in the up-front nightly rate I paid. When i looked into the fee, this is what the charges are for:Resort fee: USD 14.95 per accommodation, per night includes:- business center/computer access (they do not have this)- internet access (the wifi signal wasn’t strong enough to work in my room at any point during my stay, not to mention they advertise “free wifi”)- phone calls (because apparently people still need to use landlines? So yeah let’s charge guests for that…)- in room safe (they don’t provide these)- in room coffee (nope, they don’t provide these either)- concierge service (i didn’t see a single staff member anywhere except for the front desk my entire stay)- housekeeping (they don’t clean your room during your stay unless you specifically ask for it, which i would have to assume is an extra charge)- wired internet access (you guessed it! They don’t provide it)Anyway, I’m kind of tired of staying at hotels that make you think you’re about to have an “above and beyond” experience but then cut corners and do the bare minimum to try and get away with whatever they can while getting as much money from you as they can. Hopefully this isn’t what the hospitality industry is coming to, but it’s apparent that it’s what the Redford is comfortable with.

2022-02-27Positive: Location. Negative: The blanket was very disgusting. It had cigarette burns and was just very off putting. The towels didn¿t seem super clean and would have some hair stuck to them. Walls were so thin and people would stand in the hall and talk.
