I love Saloon Salon! The atmosphere is wonderful..friendly, chic, clean, efficient. This is my go to place to feel relaxed & pampered & to share great conversation. I always leave feeling attractive & younger, too! The stylists are so talented, & Flo is the best colorist anywhere in NYC. I had the pleasure of sitting with stylist Stella yesterday. My hair was truly a grown out mess & she created a gorgeous short style for me. She was amazing & paid attention to every little detail. I love my new cut..thank you Stella!
This salon is fantastic. The people are amazing and the haircuts are fantastic. They really know how to understand someones personality and style and translate it into one amazing cut. Everyone should experience this! My whole family goes to Alex! He is amazing. Tell him you saw this because he deserves all the praise!
Would like to thank Flo for doing my hair today. She absolutely went above and beyond my expectations. She took the time to listen to my needs and made sure to take really good care of my damaged hair. I absolutely recommend this salon. Go see Flo! Thank you, will be back very soon.
This place is outstanding! Nikki and Frank have been cutting my hair for the past two years and its always a much needed transformation. I have long hair, so when I find a place that can make my hair look interesting and textured without cutting it too short its a huge bonus. The staff is friendly and super skilled, and their hours are really convenient for people like me who work late in the city.
They have a sign advertising $20 blow dry mon-Thurs. My wife made an appointment, got a great blow dry, but was then charged $38. The staff told her it was because she had a lot of hair. While the sign outside stipulated long hair etc may be more, they essentially charged her nearly double the amount advertised. Its a shame that a nice salon with talented stylists shoots themselves in the foot this way. My wife and I will not be returning. She really wanted to like this salon but this experience left a bad taste in her mouth.
Loved Sophie! She has cut and colored my hair twice now and I get so many compliments on it. I didnt give it 5 stars because of the women in the front. Between making the appointment on the phone, checking in, and then paying for my appointment, she was very rude. It would be a five star salon if she wasnt there...
I am a biased Aveda salon patron but decided to give this salon a go when I found myself in Astoria one day! Everyone working there had me smiling and feeling great about myself!! I needed a trim and touch up on my layers that I got done with Wella. They knew how to treat my hair after a few touches and applied the correct serum and formulas to make my hair silky soft. I highly recommend this place- only gave it 4 stars because its a bit out of the way for me and my daily routine.
Been going to Saloon for almost 20 years. Have never been dissatisfied. The most amazing cuts, color, highlights, staff and service. Its always a treat at Saloon. Astorias best, by far- Manhattan quality at reasonable pricing. They are the best! They say your eyes are the windows to your soul, and your hair your crown... Well this place makes you a Queen.
I love this salon for their high level of service and friendliness. Frank, the owner is such an awesome person! Hes excellent with mens cuts - my friends go there as well and we all look great. First class service at a moderate price. I also recommend the Redken products for men there. The prices are much lower than your typical retail store.
Ive been a loyal customer here for three years and was always very happy with the service. I had my haircut by Alex and he always did a great job so I couldnt fault him!A couple of christmas ago I got my other half a blow dry which she was really happy with. For that reason she decided to go back and have a blow dry on our wedding day with her mum and maid of honor. She phoned to confirm the price given the length of everyones hair prior to arriving. Then on the day an incredibly rude receptionist/manager completely changed the prices that were quoted. She didnt want to make a fuss given this was her wedding day, something the lady she spoke to was aware of. Yet still she proceeded to make the day as unpleasant as possible! The one day you dont want any stress and you get service like this? Brilliant! Then to cap it all off one of the blow drys fell out! Given this happen to her friend she didnt want to make a big deal of this. All in all incredibly disappointed and feel partly responsible, given I recommended the place.
I had set up an appointment for a haircut and color. When I showed up for my appointment there was some initial confusion but I got seated. Then the hair stylist came up and asked me what I wanted to do with my hair. I mentioned that I wished to go lighter and she asked me to find a picture on my phone, offering no advice or professional expertise. Then she proceeded to complain within earshot that she didnt have time (even though when I booked, they said it would be about an hour and a half and the person was saying that they only had a half-hour and was complaining that they didnt have time for me). Because of this unprofessionalism, I will not be coming back to this Salon.
They say if someone says something nice about you. You should give them a dollar. If this were true, Frank would have run out of dollar bills a long time ago. When I go to a store or restaurant or just about anyplace else the quality of service is important to me. That the people I deal with make me feel special, valuable. That they remember me and my preferences. Frank and his staff have done a great job. When I walk in, the environment is relaxing, the staff is pleasant and professional. And of course they do a great job with you hair. I guess part of the experience at Saloon is due to the fact that Frank and his staff are involved in the community. When you take the time to help improve your community your clients take on a special importance.
I been going to this saloon over 10 years. I really like the owner Frank. He is very nice and polite . Professional person. Also my hair stylist . She does a great job even sometimes . She does done mistakes . I let it go because I do understand that we are a human and no one is Peterct. I always mentioned to her about some stuff she did and I didn’t like it!! Her respond most of the time arguing instead to be sorry and trying to fix it . Many times I explained to her that u should listen to the critics not ina negative way . Cuz if I didn’t like her job I ll never get back to her . I was trying to tell her be understanding like I do . She ll fix it but with attitude. I tough I was the only one who was comply to her about her mistakes . My friends were too!! Any way it not a big deal . When I asked her I want a highlight not too blind and a nice base color . Cuz she already knows my hair that I have a lot of gray hair . It her job to cover it in s good way without damaging it and over process with too much bleach and big chunk peaces in the front . She kept doing it and every time different price!!😡. And guess what last time I went to do my highlights . I told her I don’t want it too much blood cuz it summer. And I am going away . She said ho u picky but don’t worry I know u for all this years, I said ok no problem. She knows that I do my highlights only twice a year . In between just root touch up. Everything was fine even my highlights where too blonds . I didn’t say anything. I left and cuz I was in rush. Didn’t take my receipt. Couple days later when I was over seas . I checked my bank statement . I was choked . I was charged $150 for highlights.i always pay between $80 to $100. I texted her that why I was charged that price. She was yelling and raising her voice on the phone. I told her relax and don’t speak to me that way and do not raise ur voice . I am just asking u. U should have some respect . This not the right way to speak to ur clients with bad tone . Be professional when someone is speaking to u , don’t talk over this person. Guess what her respond : This is my price if u don’t like it move on . And ur hat had to much gray hair , Aldona I charged $50 for s color and $100. For highly. Seriously. Since when higltligh has 2 prices???What makes me upset if she told me before doing my hair that the price was changed . I ll never accept her price range . Of course I ll go to a place where u ll be treated in respect and manners! Why we call highlights ( already base color and highlights over it ) really . J ll never ever go back to this place or recommend my friends and family . Sorry Frank ur stuff needs to be more polite and professional !I am very disappointed and upset . U just lost a customer for over 10 years
From the stout woman ordering me around to the lopsided haircut I received, what was there not to like? I went in for a cut and showed the guy an exact picture of me with the exact haircut that I wanted. To his credit, he was a really nice guy and we chatted all the way through the cut. The problem was that half way through an older gentlemen (who mustve been the manager) approached the chair and told the guy cutting my hair that there was another customer waiting. Suddenly the stylist kicked it into high gear and began to brutalize my hair. He pulled out a thinning comb and just started whacking away in the middle of my head before tossing a giant gob of wax on my head, styling it, and booting me out the door. After I got home and showered off all the cut hair I began to notice how obscenely lopsided it really was. I spent an hour having to recut my hair in the mirror just to even things out. He didnt shave the back of my neck or behind my ears, and there was a giant tuft of hair on the back of my head randomly sticking out that he hadnt even touched. He didnt even cut the front bit so that it would blend in with the back three quarters of my head. It really was a messy haircut and Im still debating if I should just shave off all my hair and go from there.
This place is always my last minute in a rush place to go to. I always take them up on the $20 walk in blowout and they always do a great job and get me out of there quicker than Id be able to get ready. Not sure if Nikki still works there, but I actually took her card I thought she did such a good job! Keep an eye on availability times since they dont stay open super late.
Alex is a wonderful guy and amazing stylist - tell him you saw this review on yelp and its what made you seek him out and I guarantee his eyes light up in joy and you have a wonderful time getting your hair cut, The rest of the staff is amazing as well everyones so friendly!
Danny at Saloon Salon gave me a free haircut to aid me in donating my hair to Locks of Love and he offers this service year-round. On top of being a charitable badass, Danny gave me an amazing haircut and was Notting short of a pleasure to speak with. In general the Saloon Salon is a great Redken franchise- the décor is on point the staff friendly and you just enjoy the whole experience
Nobody can compete them. I am old enough to get up to this high rate for hairdressers of Queens. I am not talking about the infrastructure that is just right but for the quality of service and that part of the coup that involves cutting of hair. Demetrius is my hairdresser ..
Had a 10am appointment, so i arrived 10am on the dot. workers came in late and clients followed them in being taken care of right away. everyone was in the back of the salon chatting and being taken care of while i was sitting in the waiting area not being updated even though they were aware of my 10am appointment. after an hour i decided to walk out. horrible service.

2022-03-31I just sat here observing, while waiting for a doctors appointment next door🤣so cool, to let me sit here and observe.Frank offered me a cup of tea.I watched him cut a couple of mens cuts.I didn’t get anything done. He’s an old school scissor over comb Barber, stylist.I don’t often see hairdressers do it like this these days. Most cutters just get out clippers and zoom it off! This is how Mens hair should be done.Unless you want a buzz cut!The salon looks nice and clean. If you ever get a bad cut by someone .Don’t blame the whole salon! It’s the person who cut your hair!If you’re not happy, tell them?they should redo it at no cost. and offer a discount for your next service.

2022-05-03Alex is a 🤩SUPER 🤩hairdresser 💇♀️ he helped me achieve my hair goals- health & length. He took my damaged hair to lengths it’s never grown; cutting it while maintaining any growth progress. The color is always so natural and vibrant for a long time. I always leave with incredibly shiny ✨ smooth, voluminous best hair. The Salon itself is clean, creative & has a lovely relaxed vibe about it. If your fortunate enough to chat with Frank he gives some great tips for styling

2021-08-29I am fairly new to the city and was looking for a place that would give me a good haircut as I am very picky, but Frank (who is also the owner) gave me a great cut and provided me with a great experience and tips for hair care. I will be coming back for sure!

2019-02-18I usually cut my own hair, but occasionally you have to get a professional to see the base again! Ive gotten my haircut by Frank and Stella and both cuts were great. My wife had gotten a couple done as well and no complaints from her! I definitely plan on coming back for more.

2018-11-27This place is adorable and pretty funky. It makes me want to have hair in about 13 different colors all at once. More importantly, I have never had a bad haircut from this place. I find things work out particular well if you bring a photo of something you like. Samantha did an outstanding job with my short pixie and has helped me grow it out without looking silly. Now I have an adorable bob with bangs. :D
