This is a great hotel. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. However, on our second day the cleaning staff did not clean our room, so we had to ask for clean towels and more toilet paper, which was kind of a let down for a hotel with such a reputation. Moreover, one towel which was provided to us (although clean) was torn. Not a huge deal but for $630 for two nights you would expect better.

I normally avoid staying downtown but that may change now that I have found this place!Beautiful and historic lobby with modern, crisp guest rooms. Super comfortable bed. Zero noise from neighbors/hallway. Great water pressure and temp. Staff were pleasant and welcoming.I would definitely recommend if you’re looking for a hotel in the area!

The Renaissance Hotel is great! Awesome staff and very modern, super spacious and very clean rooms! The woman that checked me in was great, and Andrew makes some awesome drinks at their bar! Also. I dropped my work cell phone in their parking garage, and one of their employees found it. Ive been working with Brian at their hotel, and hes been phenomenal!! Hes gone the extra mile to ensure I get my cell phone back. The Renaissance Hotel is the only hotel I would stay at in Albany going forward!

First, the positives: hotel is beautiful, with elegant wood paneling, and detailed murals decorating the ceiling and upper walls of the lobby. The large room with two queen beds we stayed in was spacious, modern, and clean. The onsite Wellingtons restaurant was the highlight of the hotel for us, serving up deliciously prepared dinner entrees. Shout out to our dinner waiter, Brett, who went out of his way to provide outstanding service. Breakfast was a little more disappointing. Normally, it turns out, in-dining breakfast isnt even offered at the restaurant. Only room service breakfast is available. We happened to be staying during a few days the hotel was fully booked with law students taking their bar exam next door at the Albany Capital Center. So, buffet breakfast was offered. But, coffee was not particularly good, and pancakes we had were extremely dry. They tacked on an 18% mandatory service charge without even giving notice about it for ordering extra items not available at the buffet. Hostesses were chatty and not particularly polite, and we were seated multiple times without even so much as being given place settings. The aspect the hotel fell short on, in my opinion, was the hospitality element. In the hospitality business, especially at premium room prices, you expect the staff to be forthcoming, helpful, and hospitable. Instead, we were presented with a barrage of excuses as to why the hotel wasnt functioning as normally expected. We exited our rooms at 9:30am, taking down our do not disturb signs, and saw cleaning staff on the floor. But, for some reason, our room wasnt cleaned upon return. The excuse from the front desk? Unexpectedly short-staffed, due to the influx of law students at the hotel. This wasnt told to us upon checking in.Another disappointing aspect of our stay was how the cleaning staff let the hall vacuums rip prior to 9:30am, in front of rooms like ours where we had requested a late check out the night before for a little more rest, and our do not disturb sign was still up. This happened multiple mornings in a row, actually. When confronting the manager regarding this issue, he was rather complacent and essentially shrugged his shoulders, not even offering so much as an apology. So, overall this hotel did have a lot of excellent potential. But, unfortunately, due to improper planning/arrangements to have adequate staff on duty, and what appeared to be somewhat dysfunctional management, in addition to a surprising lack of accountability for the shortcomings of our stay, we most likely will not be considering this hotel again in the near future for our visits to Albany.

LOVE the property! I’m a “Marriott gal” - Titanium Elite with 100+ Marriott nights a year - even during pandemic. This just became one of my favorites. The renovation done in 2015 is the perfect mix of modern, funky vibe meeting historical charm and architectural wonder. The deluxe suites are spacious and comfortable. Ask for a Capitol Building view - stunning. They have an excellent restaurant on ground floor - Wellingtons’s - with a very talented chef and great service. Celebrated my husbands birthday and made an extra effort for it to be special. My only disappointment was service at front desk. They gave me very little direction or information at checkin and barely greeted me. Each time I went to front desk to ask a question, staff was just chatting with each other. Didn’t feel like they cared. It’s a shame but I know it’s hard to get good help now. Loved the room and views and food so much - can’t wait to come back! (Glad I had an opportunity to add that the day front desk staff was much better - very friendly. They noticed me taking pics of the murals in the lobby and offered a pamphlet that shares information on the murals and artist and offered lots of info on the hotel! Departing on a very high note!)

Stayed during a weeknight, no issues; excellent service! As expected for this level of hotel. Room was #604, spacious and updated. Im really glad they had light-blocking blinds as well. So many hotels dont, and for those early summer sunrises, well, they are early.PS: Thank you for the F or C settings on the climate control panel!Cheers

I would give it 4.5 if I could. The hotel is a great old building with cool architectural features, and my room was very spacious.Cons were definitely small but noticeable things... No water bottles put in room. No coffee in the morning when the restaurant is room service only...(and when I tried to use the in room coffee maker which I hate, the water tank was rusted). Housekeeping never came after my first of 4 nights...one person alone shouldnt need to call for towels. There was no plastic laundry bag in the room for me to repurpose for packing dirty socks. A few other minor complaints along the same lines.

I was visiting Albany, NY and stayed at Renaissance Hotel in downtown! Everything about this hotel was amazing!! It’s in middle of all the historic places! Entrance and lobby area was beautifully decorated, there is scramble board game and also connect 4, to play or simple to take pictures off! Staff was very friendly, they helped me with the self tour of the city! Gave me walking tour booklets, and helped me with which places I should visit! Rooms were amazing as well, I had beautiful views of the capital building and the church! I was in 8th floor and corner room, it was very spacious and comfortable! One of the hotels I will definitely visit again!!! Loved every second of it, while I was there!!!

Nice hotel, conveniently located. Rooms were nice enough. Lobby was nice, and restaurant/bar was good. Staff was very courteous and room service was fast. Parking was $17, and is self park, and you dont have to walk outside from the garage, which is nice in the winter.

I honestly have no complaints. The staff was very accommodating and professional. We stayed over Thanksgiving and the staff were working their holiday and they were all gracious. . The rooms were clean. We had one small issue where the TV was not functioning correctly (we honestly thought it was we didn’t know how to work it correctly) and within twenty minutes of calling, maintenance came, looked at it, established it was broken and moved us into a different room.My only caveat, and it’s not a real caveat, just a matter of personal taste. The design choices were interesting. They looked like they asked someone in 1968 what they think a hotel room in 2021 would look like. Like the entrance had this weird purple light when room service came and I went to sign the bill, I flipped the switch to see and I swear the purple light made the words on the receipt disappear….But the bed was soft and comfy and we slept well. And the bar downstairs offered a relaxing brief respite after a day spent with extended family on Thanksgiving.
