Bruch party, had a nice time with company however Resturant X extorted us. Coffee was offert to the party but it was failed to mention by staff that the coffee was not included and overpriced. Any other self repecting resturant informs you of upcharges, and cost substitutes. But not this scam.
This is one of our favorite places to eat. While the restaurant needs a little refresh... the food and service was outstanding. The house cocktail list is always interesting, the wine select is great and the food choices and quality of ingredients never disappoint. The staff could not be any friendlier or accommodating.
What an awful dining experience in what used to be a boujee place. We went with a party of 12 & this is just 1/2 the bill. It was described as a Sunday brunch akin to being a guest in an old-world country house where the butler has gone mad and keeps sending out footmen bearing silver trays of one tempting dish after another. Also as an extravaganza of glorious excess. And a buffet that comes to you.It was all of that on speed. Our dining experience was sweltering at a steamy 80 degrees in the restaurant & rushed. It was a hot & stressful experience. When asked for clean plates between courses we got eye rolls by teenagers who were acting as the footmen bearing silver trays. The temperature was truly unbearable & although the food was decent if not too salty... it was a no for me. The carpet was worn, torn & the place was so rundown. The entrance to the valet parking was a pot hole disaster.Dont waste your time or money!
Oct 2021, the food here and X20 (Yonkers, NY) is the best tasting in all of Westchester, NY, along with plate presentation. The food in both places gets 10 Stars. However, giving Restaurant X only 1 Star for the room that overlooks the lake. We sat by the fireplace and we were sad to see the way the room was not kept up. In our opinion the room was in disrepair, and it could use some TLC. For example, looking at the above light fixture we could see specs of little dead bugs inside, and the fireplace wall had a large crack as well as a window pane that needed to be replaced due to a crack in the corner. But, what really bothered us the most was the ceiling vent, it was so dirty, I can imagine what air are we all breathing? The other rooms seemed fine then again the lights are very dim. All and all, we will not be coming back to this location, well stick with going to X2O instead where there is a lot of natural light throughout the restaurant, and the view of the Hudson River is spectacular.
We had a great brunch there on mothers day, the food just kept coming! We had a large group and service was on point. We tried to keep track of how many courses they came by with but we totally lost count after about number ten or so. It was everything from sweet to savory along with different meats. There is valet parking in front if you need. Would definitely suggest trying them out for a special occasion.
I had a wonderful experience at this restaurant. Considering that it looks like an old vintsge house, it was a little hard to find from the road at first. When I walked in I noticed a funky odor, but as I continued further into the restaurant I was pleasantly met with a beautiful rustic (good-smelling) ambience and lovely staff. The food was absolutely delicious. I seriously wanted to try everything on the menu. Not only did the taste of the food impress me, but my eyes were pretty satisfied as well. I would definitely take somebody here on a nice date. I certainly plan to frequent this amazing restaurant.
Restaurant X is past its prime. Still an appealing, welcoming space in need of a refresh. Service was only fair with a willing but inept wait staff comprised of bus boys trying unsuccessfully to be waiters. Food was good but my entree was dried out, perhaps spending too much time under lights waiting for my waiter to serve. Prices now seem very high considering the overall experience. So many better options in the area.
The restaurant sits in old building on a lake, with windows overlooking the lake as well as gardens. Though the entry way can smell musty at times, the restaurant itself is lovely. And, the food is superb. Peter Kelly oversees its execution even when he is not at the restaurant itself. I am always shocked that the restaurant is not packed: The staff is wonderfully trained. The wines are superb. And, the food is extraordinary. You get what you pay for, so if its a bit pricey, its more than worth the $$$.
Food was ok, it was nothing too excited about (lox was very thin and bagel was very thick, pork loin was so dry that I had trouble to swallow it, coconut shrimp was too hard. ) But the desserts were very good. The staff were friendly and the service was excellent, they kept topping off your mimosa. On Saturday we went, it was valet parking only. The restaurant looked very outdated and old. They should really fix the front door, it kept banging on the door frame and made the place not upscale at all.
We havent been there for a few years, but it hasnt lost anything. Wonderful attentive service, and lovely ambiance. The Sunday brunch has a wide variety of food to suit any pallet. Even though there are too many courses to count, you can still eat everything without feeling bloated. Pricey, but sometimes you get what you pay for.
Food was delicious however the busboys clean your table off as we were eating. They even asked if we wanted dessert while we were still eating our entrée. They took our coffee saucers while we were drinking our coffee. Felt rushed. The waitress was very upset by this and was very nice. Definitely will be going back but will order appetizers first and wait to order entree so we dont feel rushed. They should inform their wait staff not to clean a table off while people are eating.
We were a party of 7 for Sunday Brunch. The food was great, but the service was not up to par. 3 main problems:1. The food servers were I experienced and kept spilling sauces and food.3. The drink service was slow, and we had to remind the main server about our drink order after 20 mins.3. They ran out of lamb chops for 2 people at the table. It seems that the Reputation of the Chef is carrying the place, but if I am taking a group of family/ friends to a place like this, i am expecting impeccable service.
I adore this restaurant! They provide good food, they have a rich menu, The chef in that restaurant is a specialist, I like a lot trying all their dishes. The dishes are consistently fresh, the attitude towards the customers is helpful. I often eat in this place and I not even once was disappointed. I highly recommend it.
The service was deplorable! I expected much more. The waitress took 30 minutes to take our orders n only returned to give us the check. No second drink offered no coffee after dinner. Just eat your food and get out was the feeling I got. For a place that is so pricey I expect better. Ive been treated better at fast food restaurants. The food was very good though. Maybe get it to go. For the first time in my life I didnt leave a tip. Also the place needs a make over.our table an chairs were wobbly. There was plastic covering the windows. Carpets look filthy. A bare lightbulb was over the sink in the ladies restroom. Ugh.
Its tough because I wanted to leave a better score. The food was delicious. I had the scallops special and was very pleased. My wife had the pork chop special and again the food was incredible. Our server was new and forgot our apps, would of been a much better score.
Excellent. Superb food! One of Peter Kellys restaurants.Main courses are $30 to $38. So it isnt cheap.I loved the Beef Wellington. Also the venison and tuna is fantastic. For desert try the cheese selection or the warm chocolate cake. You must call ahead but you want them to make you a souffle. Its a great place to bring your special person for that important occasion.
I went to the Sunday brunch yesterday at Restaurant X with a group of friends. The food was absolutely amazing and we loved all the courses! Our waiter, Greg was great too! He was hilarious and attentive to us the whole day. We had the best time at this brunch and cannot wait to come back (and hopefully have Greg again!)
Our family dearly misses Xaviers in Piermont, so we checked out Restaurant X, but alas we were disappointed. Food is decent, but the service was terrible. From the server who poured the wine very shakenly to the busboy who basically threw down the utensils on the table and cleared them away very unstably, we thought it was just the staff at our table. Then, at dessert course, the manager dropped off the dishes and hurriedly dispensed them, and we knew it all starts from the top. Everyone needs better training here. Also, the place needs renovating. Smells super musty when you walk in, and there were ants crawling on the table.
I have been here several times and every time has been a delightful meal. X provides diners with high-quality ingredients and top-notch customer service. X give me the chance to try foods I would never think to make for myself. Parking is valet. There are a handful of spaces along Rt. 303 that are not valet.
More attention has to be made to an aging population. I was very disappointed the last time that I was at Restaurant X. It was an afternoon social that included fried foods, heavy desserts, too much salt and a lack of detail describing the selections on the menu. I have found that when Chef Kelly is not present, that the quality is even more below standard. More care, better selections and a warmer heart on the part of the chef is needed to gain back mine and other peoples trust.
I have been going to this restaurant for many years. With that being said was really not impressed this time. Food was ok but nothing great and the place could use a bit of TLC. Parking lot needs a paving, broken plate glass window in dining room. Could also use a bit of paint. Valet service but attendant seemed more interested in phone them parking cars. Not the high quality place it used to be sorry to say.
Great service at the bar as usual this evening. Initially planned on oysters on the half shell but when with their special oysters Rockefeller. Pleasantly surprised since the oysters were beautifully tender and the spinach/hollandaise were divine. Thai shrimp and Maine lobster appetizers were outstanding as well. Great cosmos and gin and tonics.
Had dinner there last night. What a s#!t show... my fish, the special, came out raw... instead of sending a new piece the same piece was sent back out... uncooked... Service was horrible... the second time I received my uncooked fish, the manager took the plate, no apologies, and didn’t even ask if I wanted something else. The table next to mine was served a raw steak and an over cooked pork chop. When the steak was sent back it came back to the table completely over cooked. Again the manager did not express any concern. When the manager was confronted concerning his lack of manners he was very rude to an elderly woman whom was very polite in her constructive criticism. It’s a shame what this place has become.... one more thing... last time I visited they had my party wait an hour past our reservation as they sat other people.... I will never go back...
The food was good but we didnt get lamb, scallops and lava cake. We asked for more duck but didnt receive any more. The last time the other patrons said they received more food. The food came out slower than the last time they were at restaurant. The manager was very nice by comping part of the bill. This was Jul 23rd.
Christmas eve dinner reservations very crowded but service was impeccable, friendly. and not rushed. The food was absolutely awesome. I feel that Chef Kelly has really upped his game. He came out and welcomed everyone. The only criticism I have is that the building really needs updating.
Restaurant X is an upscale establishment with some of the most fine dining in the region. However, service is a bit mixed with exceptional employees among some mediocre. The ambiance is very refined and elegant while the exterior grounds and parking lot could definitely use improvement.
$38 dollar brunch with bottomless mimosas. Small portions but many, many courses leave you stuffed at the end. Food is gourmet quality and each course touches another culinary taste. One is beef, then fish, then shellfish, then lamb, then chicken and on and on and on. It never stops. Go hungry. Highly recommended.
Food was decent but all servers must have been at least 18 and in high school. Servers were not welcoming or friendly at all. They were carless and dropped food on my family members. Restaurant was very expensive for an experience I am disappointed with. The restaurant was also 81 degrees (saw on the thermostat). Would not recommend
I visited Restaurant X this past weekend for their Sunday brunch and it was fantastic. Ive lived in Rockland for most of my life and have always wanted to try out this locations brunch because it is so well known! Im definitely thankful that I finally had the opportunity.Upon arrival, there is valet to park your car. When walking into the building, Restaurant X is a beautiful space. We were seated in an atrium type area, but unfortunately, the window had a large crack in it and the blinds were very dusty. This detracted from the beautiful view to a small pond in the back. Now onto the food, which was plentiful and very diverse! The servers were excellent, bringing continuous rounds of breakfast foods throughout the first half hour of brunch service. Im assuming if you come on a Sunday youre agreeing to the brunch because it did not seem as though there were any other options. The brunch includes at least 15-20 courses and unlimited champagne/mimosas and your glass will never be empty! After enjoying some breakfast foods like locs and cream cheese, fruit, eggs benedict, we moved on to more of a lunch service. This included many delicious dishes such as sliced ham with a mustard honey sauce, chicken and couscous, seared tuna, duck, mushroom ravioli, another pasta dish and there may be others Im missing because at this point in time I was almost in a food coma! They do not give you a tremendous portion, but it works out because its a lot of food. For dessert, they brought out an assortment of delicious treats for the table which we all shared. The coffee was rich and dark as well which is perfect for my personal taste preference!Brunch is about $38 which I think for the amount of courses served and unlimited champagne was reasonable for a special occasion. I will return!
The food and room continue to be great. The service is friendly and welcoming but an unstable table for six (didnt they know about that before dinner?? I think so. ) And the mussels coming out followed almost ten minutes later by the rest (including a cold appetizer) are just inconsistent and disappointing.
Last time we ate there was 29 years ago until last night. The only thing that was kept up are the prices. The grounds are neglected and the facility has a moldy smell. Three kids in our party of seven ordered a plain piece of steak with no vegetables and we were charged for beef wellington. Two ordered beef wellington whose crust was soggy. Overall it was a disappointing experience
While the food is generally fairly good, this Rockland County standby has begun slipping in terms of its services and cleanliness, which is mismatched by its high prices. Weve been many times, but this last visit on Wednesday night will be the last for a while. Its not often that weve had to tell the staff to clean the bathrooms, or wait some 20 minutes to order wine during the middle of the meal. Very disappointing. They can do better, but they just dont seem to be trying any more.
This place is more or less terrible. The vegetables were frozen, my tiny price of salmon was drowning in butter, and the service left more than a bit to be desired. Also its super expensive! This is coming from someone who has lived in the city for the last 7 years so I understand the sometimes high price of a quality meal. If youre in the market for banquet-style overlooked slop for a price of $34 per dish, this is the place for you, but I would definitely never come back.
Order tarken, waitress ordered a martini, blackened. Manager came over to clarify, obviously wasnt supposed to be blackened, waitress wanted to take main course order before drinks arrived. It took roughly 20 minutes for our 3 drinks to arrive. Mine appeared with an obvious lipstick smear on the rim of the glass. Meals were mediocre, service substandard. The once elegant restaurant is now tired looking, in dire need of a facelift. The carpeting is worn & dingy looking, some chairs are wobbly, large picture window has huge broken seal, parking lot is ridden with potholes. Not worth the price, no longer a special treat.
Really sad that such a great restaurant go downhill so fast. Our midweek dining escape turned into such a disappointment. Aside for missing valet, the poorly trained waitress, but attentive staff, the food was a total disaster. The Tuna Ceviche came in its usual coconut display but was swimming in a poorly prepared and executed mayo sauce (think it was Seven Seas Russian Dressing). Her swordfish entree was so over cooked as to be inedible and had to be returned (we hardly ever send anything back as we know it goes right in trash), but being so overpriced at $35, it was impossible to stomach this poorly cooked meal. My so called veal hanger steak was also overcooked (I ordered rare to medium as the chef recommended, but it came out medium well and was tough, no taste and a real inferior meat experience. That and the usual overpriced cocktails ($12.50 for a Titos Rocks really), plus trying to pad the bill with a glass of wine we did not order or receive (the server did take it off after our protest), made what was supposed to be a romantic mid week dinner into a real trial. Sorry to say that we wont return any time soon. Maybe Mr. Kelly should row back across the river from Yonkers to save this gem of a restaurant before it all goes down the tubes!!
Been here before with no issues and great food. Tonight i came in alone and sat at the bar which was quite empty when I arrived and it was evident from the start they were not happy serving me. First I was told there was no Bare yon Saturday which didn’t make sense. Then they kept rushing me to order food, and kept asking if I was goingto order something else. They had MSN news on the TV showing killing sprees and seemed upset that I asked to have it changed to the golf channel and then had no clue what channel it was so It became a big ordeal. Needless to say I left without eating and told them they made me feel unwanted and anxious rather than having a great relaxing dinner by myself. Liam the bartender obviously doesn’t want middle age solo women at his bar.
Peter Kelly knows how to feed people. Restaurant X has terrific food with a seasonal menu. Ive eaten here many times and I have always had terrific food and service. The food is made from very fresh ingredients. The cocktails are beautiful. If you try it, you will be hooked.
The restaurant in NOT handicap accessible. I parked in their handicap parking spot, and then had to walk down the shoulder of route 303 at night. Walking at night with a walker on 303 is not my idea of fun. The walkway from 303 was not lite, so I had no idea where I was stepping. After diner, I found that the shoulder of 303 was used as a parking lot, so now I had a choice of actually walking on 303, or stumbling through the grass in front of the restaurant. I chose the grass, which was partially safer.at least I wasnt going to get run over by the traffic on 303. All in all it was a very stressful and UNSAFE experience.
It was my mothers birthday & we decided to visit congers for an elegant, romantic dinner. we had already frequented the waterfront X2O in yonkers which was a culinary delight for my 40th birthday,. i am quite fond of Peter X Kelly. he is a local chef indigenous to rockland co. he has been associated with Iron Chef too. he took down Bobby Flay. smack down. anyhow, the menus are quite similar to the other Xavier restaurants. the cuisine is exceptional. wine. bread. appetizers. no dessert though. i ordered the Thai Grilled Shrimp for starters. it was excellent indeed. the peanut sauce complimented the spiciness of the seafood. i was intrigued with the chicken entree as well. au gratin potatoes. XL asparagus with hollandaise sauce. the murrays chicken was so tender & moist. the taste was house made. the brown sauce was such a memorable experience. it was a perfect evening. i consider anyone who wishes to experience an awesome, relaxed setting as such. reserve a table at Restaurant X.
I called a month ahead inquiring about a vegan, gluten free meal for thanksgiving & was assured making a reservation w/ my food preferences would be all that was required. I sent an email via open table 6 days before thanksgiving, I called a few days later & then the restaurant called me the day before to reconfirm - a total of 3 confirmations. I realized it was a limited holiday menu so this would help the chef prepare in advance. Here is what happened:- there was no gluten free bread nor a replacement- there was no vegan hors d oeurve nor a replacement- my salad was greens w/ a few beets, nothing of substance like seeds or nuts- my entree was just vegetables; a half of acorn squash stuffed w/ pieces of asparagus, zucchini, bok choy & carrots w/ a very small amount of a pureed vegetable- there was no dairy free milk so I couldnt have coffee- dessert was a scoop of sorbet w/ 1 strawberry and 2 blackberries- the 2 vegetarians w/ me received meals at least double the size of mineThis is not a vegan meal! What about grains, protein(quinoa, legumes, seeds, nuts, hemp, anything), a sweet potato etc? I went home hungry & made myself a meal!To make it worse after I spent $70 for my food:- I called the manager expressing that I left knowing I would never return but was saddened because in the past I loved dining at Restaurant X. Instead I chose to call & give the restaurant a 2nd chance by speaking w/ the manager. He was busy & asked to call me back the next day(Sun) btwn 10AM-3PM so he could give me 100% attention. I said I would make myself available at his convenience. He didnt call. I called Sun @3:30, again he asked to call me back soon, as he was busy w/ brunch. He did not call. I gave the manager a few days to call me as I understand he is busy. By Wed I did not hear back & called again. Liam (staff member) answered phone & was concerned & very helpful! He took notes regarding my disappointment & said he would have the manager call me. He never called
As always the food at Restaurant X is and was excellent but another reason I am writing is on Saturday May 9 , was my 70th Birthday and my family took me out to dinner it was special but what made it even more special was the staff and there excellent service we where lucky to have a waiter named Will W who went out of his way with his great personality and his unlimited knowledge !!! I hope this young man gets the credit he deserves he was the absolute best .
01/24/2014...... extremely dissapointed! The place needs an enema. You enter into a dirty foyer.... as you wait by the hostess desk the stained and damaged ceiling tiles are an eyesore.... the waiting bench sways and creeks.... youll notice damage to numerous chairs. The silverware looks and feels like it came from Wal-mart! The electric space heaters in the dining area make it look like a garage! Our table was unsteady..... Now the food...... so not worth the prices charged.....first off the butter placed on the table for the bread... straight up shoprite stick butter.... and frozen solid.... hysterical! Asked for my polenta less the jalepeno... was told it is pre-made....Um ok... Noticed every plate had same boring garnish.... Both my wifes Braised Short Ribs and my Steak were fatty.... Had 1 glass of wine... Why? Noone came by to ask if Id like another! The owner needs to re-invest some money back into the place..... and stop by once in awhile and see the mediocre food that is being served under his name!
Charging $4.50 per slice on a 10 inch birthday cake for 5 people resulted in charge of $22.50 which was more than the $22 price of the cake from an outside bakery. Obscene but maybe a ploy to get you to buy one from the restaurant where the cake would have cost $60. No thanks.

2021-07-26Extraordinary food and service. The Beef Wellington was incredible and served with a delightful barolo-type sauce. The Yuzu & Chile salmon my partner selected was equally good with a complex, almost candied flavor. Service was attentive and kind. Lovely views available of the farm and duck pond that brackets the property. Not an inexpensive outing but well worth it for a special occasion.

2022-05-21Delicious, well presented, well timed meal in an upscale rustic setting alongside bespoke cocktails. Few small speed bumps with the busy waiter, otherwise a wonderful meal.In addition to the Wellington, ordered the king salmon, pesto pasta special and the pork chop. Everything expertly prepared.

2021-12-12While the food is good, this restaurant is overly priced for what it offers. The presentation and preparation of the entrees, you can tell are well done, and the meals are tasty no doubt. The staff are nice, and accommodating for the most part. The atmosphere feel outdated, carpets are worn, ceiling and walls damaged and run down. You will not want to judge this book by its cover. as its not appealing one bit. This place needs a complete face lift to match the quality of the food. Though this probably will only add to the price of your visit, which is expensive already. Worth a visit if your looking for something fancy but make sure to bring your credit card.

2022-04-18Ill start with the good... The food was delicious and seasoned properly...Now the bad.. The entire place is run down.. Uneven floors, stains on the ceiling, paint peeling, old carpeting and the chairs are old and wobbly. There was also a switch up on their end after we booked reservations.. didnt care for how they handled THEIR mistake but eventually it was dealt with. This could be a great place if they would put some effort into fixing it up. I dont think Ill be back as long as it remains as is.. It was a meh experience.

2022-06-11Not sure why some reviews say it needs renovations, restaurant x looked quite nice inside and out. Food was excellent and the staff went above any beyond to ensure food allergy requirements were met. Amazing restaurant all around!
