Was born here an now my dad is elderly an also uses this hospital they are the best to me with making sure you leave out with just what you need to be okay when you leave them . They care an really use there hearts in there work .. An a Special thanks 😊to the social worker Ms. MARIE. #thebest
Update., if your on something that you need filled every month. The staff and doctors dont communicate with each other. I been having problems every month since I been going here. This is the last time I put myself through this torture.Trust me they say they will send it over and it always gets screwed up.This is my first negative review and Im so upset and sick of this place.
This hospital is the worst. I wish my grandmother was sent elsewhere for her emergency. The nurses are rude. The doctors are quick to leave the room and doesn’t have time to answer questions. I saw people walking around with wet plungers, loud staff members playing in the hall while patients are in the room suffering. Not to mention we were lied by the nurses to get us in the hospital because the could not control my grandmother due to dementia. They actually said that she was going into surgery so we had to get there to calm her down. Then when, we arrived we asked for information. We were told that doctors speak to the family before they tell the nurses what will be happening. What kind of team work is that. It is a shame. From now on I will only go to SI university hospital.
Great experience with response time, great communication from all staff involved with care and great overall treatment for condition was received. I must really commend the Nursing Assistant taking care of 4A26 on 11/27 and 11/28 day shift. She was so awesome, so helpful, so kind and made the hospital experience so comfortable. Over all just a great experience.
Every doctor or nurse I had from the ER to my admission stay (minus one who shouldn’t be a nurse, in my opinion) they were all great and cared about my well-being. They asked crucial questions and evaluated every test possible to find out, and made sure that I was correctly diagnosed. I had to stay in the hospital for a few days, but every staff member made me feel as comfortable as possible, and my room was satisfactorily cleaned each day.
I was very skeptical about giving a birth at this hospital after reading reviews. But this is the only hospital my OBGYN is associated with. Hands down to all the nurses and doctors at this hospital. Its my first baby and everything went nice and smooth. Very good experience! Nurse Danielle helped me a lot with different positions how to go through contractions and special care. If you concerned about anything call them ladies are very nice and helpful. P.S. I especially loved that they never separated me and my newborn!
Horrible hospital. I’m in the process of a lawsuit because they wanted to take my baby out early. They lied and said I didn’t have amniotic fluid but my 35 week old baby was choking on water when he came out… so which was it???? They didn’t want me to give birth at home. Money was the reason they induced me.
What should have been a 2-3 hour trip has been going on for just short of 7 hours. I understand hospitals are short staffed and overworked and this is not against my personal nurse Ineesa (I believe I’m spelling this correctly) but this place is terrible. I was improperly checked which resulted in having to repeat the process and prolonging my care, while waiting for my medications another nurse came and took my equipment even though I told her I was waiting for my meds to come she said okay took the items anyway and left. My doctor (dr slep) never ordered my meds so I sat there in limbo until I continuously complained and had someone on the outside call the patient advocate. Once finished with everything I had to again wait because again the doctor didn’t send the orders for my discharge papers. There’s probably more but I’m too frustrated to hold off on posting and regroup my thoughts- Absolutely ridiculous
Im in shock of what I just saw in the ER. Came in 30 weeks pregnant for a nasty eye infection. Was told to sit in the middle of a waiting room where maybe 1/4 of the patients wearing masks. Had unmasked parents carrying their coughing kids, coughing kids and adults unmasked sitting right next to and behind me and no one seemed to care. Asked to be moved and they told me I had to wait. Im in my third trimester, there is literally no one stopping the spread of illness and patients are told to sit inches away from eachother . Its horrific that this is happening as covid cases are spiking.
I was at RUMCY hospital yesterday because I tested positive for Covid. I can not tell you how professional and courteous the entire staff nurses and doctors were. They got me in for my infusion I was out in 4 hours and when I called that night because I got a high fever the doctor called me himself! The treatment I received was unbelievable professional and would recommend it to anyone. Keep in mind this is all during a massive renovation for the new emergency room I can only imagine once that’s done. Great job thank you
I stood at this hospital for 12 days. 9 in SICU. It was near magnificent! I have never stayed at a hospital before and it was the best experience at Richmond! After having a major surgery all the nurses, doctors, surgeons, and staff were very attentive. Even the students are great. The scariest time of my life was handled with such professionalism, care, and eagerness to save me. Its clean, mostly quiet at night. Youre always going to come across that one person thats rude but it fails in comparison to the Great Hospitality that I was shown by the rest of everyone who attended to me. I recommend this Hospital very strongly! Thank you to all the nurses! You are amazing! God bless everyone at Richmond!
Absolute abomination. My 66 year-old mother was denied life-saving monoclonal antibody treatment while she had an appointment through the NYC HHC, has multiple classic covid symptoms & a positive PCR test. She was then held hostage in the ER when she tried to leave. They have violated many NYC laws. Do not even take your pet worm to this most unprofessional, criminally dangerous, excuse for a hospital.
I was here Saturday in the ER with severe back pain. This has been the one and only time Ive ever had a positive experience in this hospitals ER.Triage was suprisingly pleasant. It was clean and the lady who greeted me was courteous. The area in the actual ER that I was in wasnt too busy or crowded. My ER doctor, Dr. Fox, was really nice (I heard him treating other patients too with the same compassion and kindness.), COMPETENT and explained things well to me. The surgeon and CT tech were also competent, kind and great at explaining things. My nurse was quick and helpful🙏. I was there for a good 4.5 hours. Diagnosed, treated and discharged.Only complaint is that my pain was incredibly unbearable that I couldnt wait any longer when I got into the actual ER area, so I had to ask someone at the desk for help right away. The planets must have aligned and I got really good doctors and nurses that night.Overall, good experience.
Horrible I am currently sitting here with severe abdominal pains and haven’t gotten any Motrin nothing haven’t seen a doctor 2 hours And it’s not even busy in here this is absolutely insane . No communication what’s so ever .I feel bad they are so under staffed. But if you can not service sick people you should not be open or call higher ups .for back up. A few nurses past right by me seen me crying in pain , one nurse had the nerve to say “ you chose to come here “ I was in so much pain I didn’t have the energy to go back and forth . I felt vulnerable and unsafe I definitely wasn’t in good hands . I WILL NEVER step foot in there again!!!!!!!Update: I continued to have pain went to Mamonides hospital and come to find out, I have multiple infections. And this hospital toldMe specifically I don’t have any infections did not give me any antibiotics nothing just told me follow up with PCP . Now I am Getting emergency surgery. Please always get a second opinion!!
The staff here is extremely rude, but it’s no surprise once I found out how terrible the working conditions are here. They barely have everything they need to effectively do their job. It is unsanitary and you can tell nobody comes to clean these units daily. Considering there is a pandemic, this hospital made no effort to make their rooms negative pressure then they wonder why their staff keeps being out with COVID. They overwork their staff and are reluctant to hire enough help. Staff is punished heavily for calling out while sick. I can go on and on about what is wrong with this hospital, but I’d never want to be staff here or a patient! If I could give 0 stars I would!
I Had a terrible experience last night at this hospital. The lack of communication and acknowledgement from these doctors specifically doctors Susan Brian was very very disappointing! She was also very dismissive. Besides her there was another nurse I’m not to sure of her name, tried to use an ultrasound trying to find a vein to draw blood on my 6 month old child poked her several times not finding no vein and when they did she wasn’t producing enough and the lack of concern for a 6 month old was insane!Other wise, Nurses ( Nolan Nelson, Susan, Cynthia, and Edson) from the pediatric department did me so well. Being very attentive, made me felt heard, gave me proper communication, I’m so happy I was able to mrun into them. Also, Doctor Gist Roman was lovely! He came in saw me child, gave his input, gave information, told us what to look out for and was all around amazing.
I had a fantastic experience at Richmond University Medical Center. The staff was friendly and attentive and I’m really grateful to them. Also, I highly recommend Dr. Kuczabski. He was extremely empathetic to my unique situation and worked to book my procedure as soon as possible. He was helpful throughout every step and answered all of my questions, and I had a lot! Also, my scar will be smaller than I ever thought possible.
I had surgery last week and received excellent care from the nursing staff. It really is one of the greatest hospitals in Staten Island . I was very happy. The hospital is more than excellent. The nursing staff is more than excellent and excellent work done by the doctors, 💕iam so happy ………💕My special thanks to the nursing staff for the excellent care.💕
Only a hand full of people at this hospital are nice to patients. Very rude and they don’t let you finish speaking. My grandma was transferred from this hospital to a hospital in Manhattan for a surgery and RUMC failed to provide the right information the hospital needed. I tried calling & of coarse before you finish speaking they transfer you where you wait over 30 minutes. Only gave two stars because not all the staff was awful to deal with. This hospital needs more of those staff members.
Richmond University Hospital made the experience of having to go into a hospital, especially during a pandemic, worry free with streamlined procedures, a compassionate, professional and informed staff and attentive follow up.The friendly reception upon entering ,the absolute cleanliness of the waiting area, and enough medical staff on hand, left no one feeling forgotten. It was very welcoming and gave a wonderful sense of community.Sidebar, they even offered individually wrapped snacks. Thanks and appreciation to all those dedicated Hospital workers.
To The Doctors. Nurses and Entire Staff at RUMC....I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to the wonderful staff at the Emergency Room and CCU at RUMC ! Arriving by ambulance in the middle of the night in July until I was discharged three days later I received top notch care. The ER doctors, nurses and all others worked quickly and efficiently to save my life. During my stay in the CCU, the entire staff were kind, comforting and helpful. I wish I could remember the names of all of the individuals that I came in contact with to give them recognition but I only remember a few. Thanks to Dr. Duvurri, Dr. Iwona Gargala, Jem, Blessing, Cheryl, Debbie, MaryAnn, Marc and the rest of the wonderful staff!!With Sincere Gratitude,Susan Cammarota
This is an update on another review that I posted in this thread:If you are a consumer who has been reading through all of these reviews, you know that Richmond University Medical Center has quite a negative reputation. In fact, if you are a resident of Richmond County, NY, you may have needed to go to this hospital yourself, and you may even be one of the people who have written a negative review of the horrific experiences at this hospital. It makes Richmond County’s healthcare look like it flew south for the winter. Anyway, this update is being posted through my second account, since I ran out of space on my other review, that’s how bad this place was and likely still is.To further elaborate, you may have noticed that on almost all of those bad reviews, R.U.M.C’s owner replies by saying “Please call the Patient Relations Hotline so we can address your concerns more directly.” Three words: Do, Not, Bother. They won’t answer, even during their supposed “hours of operation”. Believe me, I have tried. This place needs to be under new management or something, because this is a nightmare for Staten Islanders who need help.As for some of the negative reviews of seen, and believe me, they go on for miles, some have claimed that unlawful activity has taken place by RUMC and it’s staff, such as HIPPA violations. For those of you witness or are a victim of HIPPA violations by RUMC staff, you can report it to the United States Federal Bureau of Investigations by calling your local FBI office.
The absolute worst. Cant ever get anyone on the phone, and if I do, its after a hold time of 20 minutes. Cant ever speak with a nurse or Doctor, and never a call back, after promised several times. Have an elderly parent as a patient there and Im out of state, and you can imagine my frustration.
On Feb. 8 at around 5:15 pm my son was sledding in the park with my husband when the snow tube went faster than expected, hit a tree and exploded. Both my husband and son were in the tube. My son hurt his hand and became extremely disoriented and uncharacteristically hysterical. He was received quickly and admitted to the ER and into as private a space as they could find. Again, the nurses were so kind and wonderful to him and did everything they could to calm his nerves. We were in that area for about an hour before he was taken for CT scans and x-rays. We were then taken back to our area where we spent another 30 minutes or so. The ER was getting so crowded that they found another area in the ED that was more private. We were told that this was the pediatric wing of the ED, but basically, it was just one room. The room was small, run down and cruddy looking. The air conditioning was on and we were all freezing. We spent another 8 hours in this space, waiting for my son to be properly observed. An ER doctor came, said that his CT scans were good and that his hand had no breaks. My son was in agony, his hand was completely swollen and I had to advocate for the doctor to look again. Thank goodness I did because he said that when he looked again, he did see one fracture. He wrapped my sons hand in a splint. We asked him for something for the pain, he said ok, walked away and never returned. It was several more hours before we begged a nurse to please give my son some Tylenol. He had an extreme headache and his hand was broken and in pain. My son should not have had to wait over 4 hours for basic pain management. .At 3:00am, my son was admitted to the pediatric unit. They wanted to keep him overnight because even though his CT scan was clear, he was experiencing headaches and amnesia. We agreed that this was the best course of action.Starting and 5:00am, teams of doctors came to do basic check ins: the trauma team, the pediatric team, med students, nurses, and neurosurgery. All agreed that he was doing well. But no matter how many times they were paged, no one from orthopedics came to check on my sons hand and no one from neurology came to examine my son In fact, in the 40 hours we were in the hospital, not one doctor with any type of expertise came to examine my son. They were paged and paged and never bothered to show up.In any case, all through the day on February 9, my son was doing well. He even chose to attend some remote school. It’s clear he was tired and he was still in some pain but he was eating, drinking, lucid and in good spirits. The trauma team agreed that it was ok to send him home. However, when my son stood up and started walking out, he got nauseous and a headache. We turned around and took his vitals (normal), he went to the bathroom which seemed to help with his belly. He said he had a small headache. I am pretty sure that this was because he was so tired and playing with his ipad all day. The doctor concurred so we began to leave again. Just was we were entering the elevator, the doctor ran after us, stopped us and said that the chief was not comfortable with him leaving and wanted him to stay overnight again.I did not agree with this and asked for more clarification. After some back and forth, I agreed to let my son stay. The doctor promised he’d be back between 8:00-10:00pm to check on my son and to bring the chief to see if we could let him go that evening. No one ever came back to look at my son until the morning. So basically, they wanted to observe my son overnight but they never observed my son at all. I am convinced they asked him to stay than for no other reason than to charge my insurance an extra night’s stay. After this long rant, it might be hard to believe that I have left many other details out but I have. I cannot believe the lack of organization or care that we have encountered here. While I do not regret taking my son to the closest emergency room based on what I knew at the time of his accident, I do feel that I have learned a lot. If you do not have to, DO NOT COME TO RUMC.
My wife was hospitalized for kidney disease and I was surprised by how caring and wonderful the staff were. Dr Abrahami, Medical Students and Dr Hasmat helped my wife recover and improve until she was discharged from the hospital. They checked on her every day and were always there to answer questions. I am very grateful and I couldnt have asked for better doctors. Thank you for saving my wife and helping us during such difficult times. God bless you all.
Worst hospital experience I’ve ever witnessed. I took my dad too the ER for severe stomach pains and from start to finish it was the most unprofessional, unorganized visit I’ve ever seen. The ER is like a zoo, nurses screaming at patients and calling out doctors from across the unit. The ER doctor seemed like a great doctor but couldn’t speak to him for longer than 45 seconds because he was running around the ER like a madman, and they weren’t even busy at all!! I cannot even imagine how this ER functions on an actual busy night. On top of that, Systems were down when we arrived, every nurse and worker I’ve seen took there mask off constantly, CAT scan results took about 4.5 hours, the nurses were on their phones or gossiping about patients 75% of the time. I know more about how “annoying” the other patients in the ER were than how my dad was actually doing. Also, extremely dirty- I saw 1 person sweep about 2 times during the 7 hour visit and the same woman who did my dads EKG was also on “cleaning” duty. Unfortunately I have experience with hospitals because of my moms cancer and she had everything done through NYU- I can’t recommend enough to just take the 15-20 min trip to Brooklyn and go to NYU, you will receive 100% better care there. It’s truly a world of a difference. Do not bring your loved ones to RUMC.
The following review written by me shall be based on my experience with Richmond University Medical Center, including of negative and positive parts of my experience.1 - Emergency response.Last Saturday, I needed to dial 911 for a medical emergency. Their response time was amazing, it only took about 1-2 minutes for them to get to our house. However, when they arrived, some of their equipment wasn’t working, which could indicate that they don’t check their equipment as often as they should be.2 - Emergency roomWhen we got to the emergency room, the hospital staff told us that we are required to wait in the waiting room. And the waiting room is so unbelievably small. To be quite frank, I have seen school janitor broom closets bigger than Richmond University Medical Center’s waiting room is. And the fact that that waiting room is that small deeply concerns me, because a person waiting in there could easily contract the COVID-19 virus in that if another person has contracted the disease. However, I did hear that the hospital is in the process of constructing a new and much bigger waiting room, which will be much safer than the current waiting room. The staff also seemed to be not taking their jobs seriously in the actual emergency room, when they were laughing with one another. That is something that they should be doing during their break hours, not during the times that they are running an emergency room.3 - RUMC Telephone Operations. When I called RUMC’s telephone number, which is posted on their Google Maps webpage, I was greeted by an automated message that instructed me on how to work their telephone system. Then, I was put on hold, and shortly after, the other line started to ring. The first time it rung, an operator rather swiftly picked up the phone. However, the emergency room that the operator transferred me to did not. The staff in the emergency room left their telephone to ring for quite some time, I estimate for about 3-5 minutes. This could indicate one of two things: either A, the hospital is understaffed, or B, the staff simply did not want to do their job by answering the telephone at the time, and I worry that they still don’t. When someone I know called, they claimed that the staff let the phone ring for 10 minutes before they picked up. Additionally, they added that the first time that they called, no staff member picked up the telephone before they lost their patience. Quite frankly, I wouldn’t be surprised if the staff were slacking off just like when I saw them in the emergency room physically. In conclusion, my final rating for Richmond University Medical Center is 2 stars.* Updated Rating *I was lucky enough to be able to visit a relative of mine in their assigned hospital room last night. And the quality of the room was pretty bad. The room smelled like poop, and was very small. A wall in the room also had damaged paint. I also heard that the thing that they are building is not going to be a waiting room in it’s completion, which is deeply disappointing. Additionally, the floor also felt disgusting. Residents of Richmond County, NY rely on Richmond University Medical Center to be the prepared for medical emergencies, and right now, they are letting them down. There seems to be very little accountability on the part of R.U.M.C employees. This place really should get some funding from the New York City government, because the performance from R.U.M.C is simply unacceptable and quite frankly, disgraceful to the people who need medical help.In yet another conclusion, my rating for this hospital has disappointingly and easily changed from 2 stars to 1 star.* Updated Rating 2 *The staff at the front desk of the hospital are rude, and once again, are having conversations with each other rather than doing their jobs. According to the front desk, despite the fact that I am a minor, I cannot visit my mother. Not what ER said.
The fact that this hospital is still in business is absolutely shocking. Never have I ever seen a worse staff in my entire life. Dr. Sosa is incredibly unsympathetic and not willing to listen, nose was running and wasn’t even offered a tissue. The nurse is disrespectful and had a very bad demeanor. What a shame to the medical community. No wonder this place is so badly rated
So much to say about this hospital. First and foremost my wife went there because her doctor is assigned to only this hospital. The Doctor is amazing however, the hospital is one of the worse hospitals when it comes to maternity care. It was so bad the facility that my wife pretty much checked herself out as soon as possible even though she was still in pain. She left the hospital a few days before suggested time period. All because of the following, the heat was so bad that they over heated the rooms which you practically could not sleep due to the heat. It was most probably around 80 degrees in the room. No way to open the windows. The chair in the hospital for friends was horrible and ripped chairs. The floors were dirty full of dust. It was completely disgusting. Nurses were misinforming us on what was happening. This by far is the most terrible hospital for babys and mom. Till the very end it was terrible experience. My wife came home in pain for a few days and was not given the care that was needed because she rather deal with the pain then this hospitals conditions. This hospital needs to be corrected big time. Even leaving the hospital was difficult. Everything that could go wrong went wrong! Please do not put your wife to this. My wife loved the doctor but not the facility. Now my wife will lose the doctor because of the hospital. Sad for 2019! Sad part my child has to live with the name I was born RUMC.
I don’t understand how this hospital could have any negative reviews about their labor and delivery unit. I had something very unfortunate happen to me. Every staff member, nurse, Doctor that I came in contact with was amazing. They all made me feel comforted and I felt like I was being very well taken care of. I lost my daughter at 20 weeks. They dressed her, took photos of her, baptized her. Nothing was rushed and I’m so grateful for everyone at this hospital for allowing me to have time and make memories with my daughter. Every room I’ve ever been in was extremely clean and taken care of. I can’t thank the staff at RUMC enough. I would definitely recommend giving birth at this hospital
Honestly, this experience was the worst ever. My father was admitted for 48 hours and I have never seen such disorganized incompetence. The emergency room was a virtual zoo, the structure, noise, lack of space, and miscommunication was remarkable! Yes, he has pneumonia, no he doesn’t, yes he does, well maybe not! 2 days in a hospital room with no clean up despite multiple spills. Waited for 2 days for a consult and that was the only reason for admission. Some Staff were professional and caring but that was not the norm. Earlier in the year we had to report the ER staff to administration and fight for care. This hospital is disgraceful and should be shut down. Sadly, Staten Island is well below even a marginal level Of care as compared to other boroughs.
The staff can be nice but there are certain doctors who won’t treat you if they think the hospital will lose too much money. I was in emergency today and the dr who examined me or performed the lack thereof mentioned to other staff that they Laos ya lot of money today and people that come with back pain need the gym. He was very cocky.
On September 22nd, 2020 I had a Shoulder Debridement done. The pre-op intake was quick, staff was courteous and my Orthopedist was outstanding. Now here in lies the issue, my Orthopedist after about a week or so refers me to Dr.Hassan for physical rehab.Seems pretty straight forward, BUT NO!!!! Took close to 2 weeks just to get in touch with someone to schedule me to see the doctor. When they finally do schedule me it for nearly 3 weeks after said date.I finally see the doctor on November 2nd, 2020 he approves me for 2 days a week for 6 weeks to start, GREAT! I go to schedule no ones at the front desk. After standing there for a good 15-20 minutes another receptionist informs me the one who does the scheduling for Dr.Hassan is on lunch, FINE... I leave my contact info. I follow up no response, I dont hear back from someone until November 13th.She finally schedules me to start my rehab on December 9th 2020, now keep in mind I have a follow up appointment on December 2nd with my Orthopedist to see how my physical therapy is progressing I inform of this and magically an appointment for December 4th becomes available. My Start date for Physical therapy finally arrives December 4th 2020, My ride to the hospital gets me there 19 minutes late, I check in I wait 16 minutes in the waiting room only to be told, Since they need a hour to assess me and I was late I cant be seen, I must now now reschedule.Im then informed the next earliest appointment being December 16th.At this point my patience broke, I left and immediately called my Orthopedist to get a new referral for a different Physical therapist. Honestly I should have done it sooner but I really tried to be patient and give the staff the benefit of the doubt with the current ongoing situation with Covid-19.But at this point Im 73 days post Op and have yet to receive a single minute of the rehab I need due to the incompetency of this medical establishment. How is this even remotely acceptable to anyone.
I cannot commend the entire staff enough. I was there the last 2 weeks twice to get the COVID vaccine. From the moment the car stopped a security guard came to help me get out and walked me with cane to entrance where vaccines were given. There the personnel were efficient , courteous and caring. God bless them all and those that instructed them.
I give this hospital 5 stars ! My husband was sent to the emergency room by his cardiologist because of chest pain , and was treated amazing by everyone he came in contact with . He was treated with kindness and respect. I want to thank Malney the ER nurse who first took care of him in the ER . He was admitted to the CCU by his cardiologist and had amazing care in the CCU from nurses Julie, Kevin , Pamela and Debbie! What an amazing staff the hospital has . I can’t thank the nurses and the doctors who took of my husband enough ! The hospital may look old and messy because of all the renovations, but with all the kindness that is given to the patients you don’t even notice . Thank you again!
My 11 month old son was having issues so I brought him to Rumc since it’s closer to me....Guys just take the drive to the other side for the sake your your child. Because of Covid they have children and adults pretty much in the same section! Except in a room which you have to walk by all these sick adults! to get to the room! My room had ANTS & cookies all over the floor! I have a video sucks I can’t upload it!(I have birth here in 2017 & 2020 Great maternity department)
The worst experience Ive ever had in a hospital and worst case Ive seen for my father. My Father had pneumonia yet none of the staff seemed to figure that out. They wanted to do a spinal tap on him and no one could figure out what was going on. There were no beds available and so me and my mother waited with in ER Triage with my Dad for almost 24 hours. Finally my mother signed my Father OUT of the hospital and he was taken to another hospital in PA where they immediately diagnosed him with Pneumonia after giving him an xray. Thank god my Mom signed him out of the hospital and took matters into her own hands. This place is the WORST.
IF I COULD GIVE 0 STARS I WOULD. Disrespectful, rude, unprofessional- some of the words Id use to describe the attitude and demeanor of the staff giving out vaccines to the public. My parents went today (with an appointment) being fully aware that they meet the requirements to obtain a vaccine, NYC residents, over the age of 50, yet the two ladies at the front DEMANDED to see proof of employment for vaccine eligibility under that group. I would say they were racially profiling them. I wish I was there to stand up for them when these ladies were being down right WRONG.
If there were 0 stars I would choose that. This has been the worst, most unprofessional, hospital I have ever been too. Took 12 hours to get me a simple IV with fluids and medicine for my stomach. Then told me my order was coming in 5 minutes. 5 hours later. Still nothing Then when they said I was getting admitted everybody ignored me when I asked about it and asked about anything for that matter. Very inconsiderate, I asked bout my room for admissions they told me my room was the same room as the ER patients. Garbage.
After driving from out of state to see our daughter in maternity, we came across a insensitive and rude nurse who wouldnt even allow me to just pop my head for 2 seconds to greet her.The waiting area was horrible. Trash on the tables and floors with very uncomfortable seats. After countless hours in the waiting area around 3 in the morning I decided to find the Chapel to pray. I was surprised and taken back after asking 5 employees where the Chapel was and no one knew. While attempting to find it myself, I noticed trash laying on the tables by the closed coffee shop in the main lobby. It seemed no one cared. I would never recommend this place to anyone.Totally disgusted!
Went in for outpatient surgery on breast. Not sick. Anesthesiologist totally wrecked my throat. Could hardly breathe after surgery. Rushed out of recovery. Two days later back at ER with pneumonia. Not my first surgery or sedation. Never had a more horrible experience. This was my second surgery here. First time treated so rudely by 2nd floor staff. No help what so ever. Should have listen to my first mind and gone to Staten Island North. Surgery went well no issues with that.
What kind of hospital releases a psychiatric patient at 2:00AM whos showing symptom and doesnt have their wallet and keys because EMS brought them without them? This hospital .. my brother was in the Psychiatric ER and I had to BEG them to not let him out and wait for me to come and get him. I live in Manhattan had to wait for my garage to open and Oh and subways arent running in the middle of the night anymore .. never bring a loved one with a psychiatric problem to this hospital. The medical staff was caring when I picked him up in the ER (not wearing a mask), but thats all I can say.
The staff at the CCU is AMAZING! such great care and concern and love for patients. Nurses on other floors should take a lesson from them on how to treat and care for patients. Try to keep a family member at all times on other floors as calling for help won’t result in someone checking on you for a long time. I understand it’s many patients but can definitely be kind and polite. Will forever be grateful for the staff in the CCU (Julie, Pam, Julie, Debra, Charith, Ella Bella, Kevin, staff at the desk, and of course the wonderful cardiologists). Forever grateful to the CCU and ER for the care we received and for saving my Dads life.
Went in on a late night, was taken right in, Triage nurses were very kind and efficient. Once in the ER room, Nurses Shannon and Brenda were awesome! They were so compassionate and professional, and very patient with my elderly dad. ER physician was knowledgeable and took the time to explain everything. Once dad arrived on 4th floor, nurse Jennifer and aide Yancy took very good care of him. Thankfully we were only there for 24 hour observation, but I can say our experience was great! The only think I can say to administration is to renovate the ER, the staff works very hard in an antiquated environment. It looks to be about 30 years old to me....CEO should have to spend a shift in there...
ZERO STARS!!!! I experienced the WORST birth experience ever in this facility. My sister told the front desk I have a woman in the parking lot in active labor and the woman in the emergency department refused to get me a wheel chair. I had to ask the nearby off duty ambulance EMTs if they could go inside and get me a wheel chair, which is ridiculous. The nurses are extremely rude, nothing is on file, they draw blood without gloves, paperwork is incomplete, there is no nursery and a huge lack of security(entrances are not secure except the front main lobby ). My baby was sent to the N.IC.U because he couldnt maintain his temperature and they couldnt tell me a definitive answer regarding my babys test results to figure out if he was okay or not.I called patient relations to speak to a supervisor and they said what I described is how their practices are at this facility. Please do not give birth at this hospital if you value your life and sanity. People deserve better care and this place needs to be investigated.
Mom is currently in the hospital because she has nausea, severe migraines and abdominal pain. Yet she gets nothing but medicine to subdue the pain for a short while. They keep saying she needs to see a specialist but they don’t bring her one to check on her. She was puking and tried to call out to a nurse and she couldn’t get a hold of one until about 10 minutes later. They now tell her she can go home because it’s nothing serious but she is not better. She doesn’t know what she has and she’s in pain. Horrible. I am disgusted.
Went to the ER last night with a family member, and am still in shock at how unprofessional this hospital was! It was filthy, the ER was freezing cold, patients were physically placed way to close together, and they clearly have no concern for OSHA regulations. I witnessed a nurse take a drink of water from the public water fountain, rinse her mouth then spit it back into the water fountain. Same nurse was eating food while treating patients! Another nurse had a ripped glove on... Disgusting! There was zero respect for patients privacy as the staff screamed patients personal medical information across the room, even loudly discussing a patients HIV status. The doctor on call was the loudest of them all and had no problem with using the f-word several times while having conversations with the nurses.I will say the nurses were very nice, but clearly overworked and not trainedin patient confidentiality or health and safety standards!Overall this hospital is dirty, crowded, understaffed, and horribly unprofessional.
I broke my hip and wrist. I came in through the er. I have to say from the moment I arrived the entire staff was caring, understanding and attentive. They made sure I was comfortable (pain wise). I had to wait 3 days for clearance for surgery due to the fact that I have cancer and the staff made my pain a priority. I was on the 3rd floor all of the nurses Nina, Sharon, Erica were wonderful as were the aids. Tony for my pt was wonderful as well. What was such a traumatic experience for me was made so much more tolerable by this great staff. I can not say enough. Thank you.
Rude and non compassionate staff member at registration. She talks to you like your an animal. She stressed me enough to walk out.8/6/2020- I had a procedure performed at the hospital and staff was great. The process was very efficient. I had to give 5 stars, very impressed with the service and care. I left my original negative review from a few years back.
This is by far the worst experience I have ever encountered at a hospital. This place is downright deplorable! My father was in the emergency room from 8 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. before he got a room. The staff was rude and kept telling us he would get a room in 30 minutes. Hours kept going by. The doctor acted like he was an inconvenience to her instead of a patient. I watched nurses yell at a patient that clearly had a psychiatric problem, instead of handling it by deescalating the situation and offering her encouragement. They embarrassed her in front of the entire emergency room. They should knock this place down and start from scratch. The staff has poor bedside manner. Everytime we ask a nurse a question it seem like we were bothering them. Do not come here. The only person that was friendly and helpful was the African-American man in the light blue scurbs that worked transporting the patients. The staff there should take note of how he treats people. With genuine kindness and respect. When you take an oath to care for people you should do so.
Do you go to a ZOO for medical treatment? Then dont come here...You will die...Pediatric ER not used for pediatrics. Left unattended for hours withno medication. No MASKS during a pandemic.Needles on the floor --- violation of patients rightsDoctors use their license as a weapon against mothers and their children.Everyone is AWARE of the Hazardous conditions...yet nothing is being done.People are being abused and neglected here.
I wish I could give this hospital zero stars and that would be generous. For starters I went to the emergency room with back and side pains and waited for more than 2 and a half hours just to be seen. They took a urine sample from me which stayed on the counter of the ER for more than 2 and a half hours while all the nurses and staff just sat there doing nothing with it. I asked them if it should still be out for that much time in fear that the sample could be compromised in some way and they gave me an attitude and told me to sit back down and wait as if Im a child and as if my urine and I hadnt waited long enough. Where I was sitting lacked any privacy I was in one of their cubicle like areas where there is a curtain but they sat a man in a chair about a foot and a half away from me ?! fast forward another almost 2 hours later, they drew my blood and discharged me 2 MORE hours later ! I was there almost 7 hours in total. I never got my blood results that they said they would call me with and gave me a number just incase they didnt contact me for some reason 2 weeks later when I still hadnt received my results I called the number they provided me and they told me we cant give you results over the phone but no call is a good call YET THEY HARASS ME OVER THE BILL. How do you have the nerve to harass me for the bill but wont give me results ? I went in person and they still didnt give me my results. How do I even know what they did with my blood and if they even really sent it for testing ?! But they desperately want their money and call me damn near everyday. Now Im trying to set up an account on the RUMC portal so I can access my patient health records and that doesnt work either why am I not surprised I could add so much more just about that one visit but it pointless because this hospital really doesnt care for its patients I WOULD NEVER SUGGEST THIS HOSPITAL TO ANYBODY!
So I went to this hospital because I’ve been having chest pain. I thought I might having a heart attack or blood clout. So I get there with a man on the floor. Than the ppl were telling it was so busy. I was outta luck. The doctor dismisses my chest pain for Covid and pain on my leg for split SHIn. Like every symptom is Covid 19!?! I could potentially die of a heart and attack and not even now it. I left so unsure and so unsafe. Please do not come here. You elders could potentially get Covid 19. I also noticed mosquitos in the ER. I was grossed. I am getting off the island. Hopefully I’ll find another emergency room that can help. I also wanted a test for blood clout or if I have a heart condition. They told me I needed to wait until I visited my doctor to get a test done. So ridiculous !
Came into the hospital for a total hysterectomy , was supposed to be two hours , turned into almost 5. Caught double pneumonia , was discharged day after surgery . They knew I couldn’t breathe well . Recovery at home was a nightmare.couldnt breathe, couldn’t walk, went back into the er that weekend. Was on oxygen all week in the hospital. They should have never discharged me . Rooms are hot and filthy. Shower in room had no hot water. Complained numerous times with a patient representative. Someone higher up was supposed to come to my room and talk to me, never did . Some nurses were very good, others completely incompetent, couldn’t find my veins for blood, arms were both bruised . Had to take a completely cold shower to wash myself after having surgery. I was literally in tears showering . Never again, will go to Manhattan next time
My wife had the c-section and all the process was fine til she have a room to stayed for recovery. She had the worst experienced w/ the man looking lady that clean the room after all patient is being discharged, so the problem was that my wife was in the room which is not a private room but no one was in the room w/ her so for me as a husband which they allowed to stay overnight w/ the wife so I sleep in the other bed which no one was using and all the nurse didnt say anything but the room cleaning lady was so rude and nasty! Of course I didnt want to argue w/ her because its useless to talk to ppl like her that treat patients w/ no manners and she needs some management from someone who is in charge and tell her to take some respect classes. - some nurses are nice but some arent as helpful. - theres only 1-2 nurse that I met are nice and very helpful and one of her name was Emily and the other girl I dont remember but others when u asked to just heat up your food and theyre not willing to help you and tell you to wait til your family member come to visit you! LIKE ARE U SERIOUS! What If I dont have anyone that come and visit me? Then I cant eat my food that needs to be reheat in the microwaved! MY GAWD! One last thing is that you asked for some diapers, baby milk, or any other needs and it takes forever for them to give u and when they arrived to give u the stuff that u need, they only give u only 2 pieces only! then when youre out of it then they give u only 2 again! Being a patient and having to always wait and end up receiving like 1-2 quantity only is very annoying meanwhile they should give you 5 or more. Overall, this hospital is not a good place for pregnant women who are about to go on labour and stay over for recovery!
I went into this hospital for a scheduled ambulatory major surgery. The hospital staff and nurses were all professional, kind and accomodating. They made my very uncomfortable surgery a very pleasant experience and took care of me kindly. They made sure I was warm before and after the surgery, they kept me informed of what was going to happen and they kept my husband informed of my status throughout the experience and let him into post-op to help me get comfortable before I was released. I am very satisfied with how this hospital took care of me and would recommend it to anyone else who needs it.
I wouldnt send a person with a gunshot wound to the head to this hospital. My 3 days there were completely miserable. A lack of communication between doctors and staff. The transporter threw my gound on my bed did not know why I was being transported, and did not ask my name or tell me his. Also I wasnt diagnosed or told the cause of my problem. I was given medicine to calm down the pain but not help it long term. When I asked questions the doctors were unsure! Which was upsetting Im not a guinea pig. After three days of nonsense I discharged myself. Later in the week I was called for the same ultrasound appointment that I made a fuss about. When I got downstairs the staff on that floor did not know why I was there and had me sitting in the hallway because the transporter did not communicate with the nurses I was there. So I was confused as to why I received a phone call to schedule an appointment for something I made a fuss about, meaning that appointment was done while I was there. On top of that I receive a phone call today saying I was schedule to come in tomorrow for a medical appointment when I asked the lady for what she was unaware. However, during the conversation she kept cutting me off! And then she hung up on me after I asked her to let me finish my question. The staff throughout this hospital is rude, the care is horrible, the towels smelt and the bathroom in my room was dirty! Never again!
I came here cause I was having right side pains and lower back pains I am 14 weeks pregnant. I entered this place at 12:15pm. here it is 6:14pm and I have only seen a nurse intern who has put Iv in me and was taken to get an ultra sound three hours later. when I ask for something to eat or drink they brush me aside and tell me I have to ask my nurse. when I ask a nurse whats going on no one seems to know in the name of God whats going on. I was thinking of changing hospital and having my child here. though after the trauma and everything I have been through today and 7 hrs later I am still here with no answer I have to say I been to some disgusting and bad hospital. though this one has to be the worse hospital hands down!save yourself the trip and the wait dont come here!
Im currently in the ER. I got here at 630pm on the dot, was then put into what looks like a used room that hasnt been cleaned. Its so filthy its making me feel even more nauseous then I am. There is no hospital bed, Im sitting on a regular chair in excruciating pain. Apparently I am in need for surgery. From 6:34pm till now which is 7:19pm I have not been seen at all. I feel so sick and Im afraid Im gonna get worse by catching something here so Im waiting for my mom to pick me up so I can go to a different hospital which is imconvient since the other 2 are out of the way for me. If someone from the hospital reads this, clean the damn hospital! Hire more cleaning crew and make sure you dont lose track of patients because Im honestly walking out and I dont think anyone is even gonna notice.
If I could give a ZERO I would! This hospital has completely gone down the tubes over the years. My mother was held overnight on Wednesday 5/16 from the emergency room and was discharged on Thursday 5/17. The staff was supposed to send her script to her pharmacy and, as of today, Friday 5/18 the script hasn’t been sent and my mother does not have the meds she needs. In addition, the Case Manager was suppposed to call my mother’s MLTC agency to have them reactivate her home Health aide. That never happened either. My mother is a 90 yr with Health and emotional problems and this is the way this hospital treats their patients?!?!?A complete and total disgrace of a so-called medical facility.
My mother arrived at 7:30pm on Tuesday and has yet to be placed in a room. It is 4:09am on Wednesday. No explanation for hours on why we have waited for so long.Nurses and attendants chatting it up about why they cant tolerate the hospital or each other while I tried to locate my mother! Two other nurse in the E.R. (one wearing a black uniform, the other in pink both with blonde hair) wouldnt acknowledge me as I waited patiencely at their desk. One sweet orderly and one caring doctor doesnt make up for the lack of care and professionalism for the rest of the staff. Even the guard at the door looks as if he wants to run away! No acceptable behavior during a time of great need.
I have had two wonderful experiences delivering my two daughters at RUMC. Everyone who looked after me did so with such amazing care! My doctors (Russell and Giovanazzo) were wonderful and the nurses were always there to help me and give advice when needed. Anyone who walked into my room, from House Keeping to Nurses to Interns to my own doctors, did so with a smile on their face and real genuine concern for how I was feeling. You always felt like you were their only patient for the day! I highly recommend having your babies here!
At 4:45, I got to the Emergency Room and there is no nurse available. I sat in the waiting area waiting to be tooken care of for 45 minutes, I had to ask the receptionist what was happening cause there was still no nurse available. When the nurse got finally there she was acting very nasty because she was tired and didnt want to do her job correctly. Then they took us inside to the 6:20, mind you this was at 6:20 they kept us in the room and when i looked at my phone it was 7:20 and there was yet a Doctor or nurse to come see my daughter. My daughter Janelly is only 2 months and she was not breathing and she sound very congested. When i heard the baby like this i went to the desk and asked if they was going to check my baby out and the nurses response was The Baby is not even on the list to be taken care of, we didnt even know she was in the room. I said no doctor has seen me and i have been here for more than 2 hours. I asked the nurse for a supervisor and she got nasty and didnt call for one, and at the room there was garbage everywhere, the table was not clean, there was blood and gloves on the floor, Dust everywhere. This is very unprofessional and disgusting hospital. At 7:35 i walked out with my baby still not seen, no one stopped me to see the baby and nobody cared. So i left to Staten Island University i got there at 7:50 and at 7:55 i was called to see the baby by 8:00 i was in the room and by 8:03 the nurse came in and took care of the baby, at 8:05 a doctor came in and gave my baby therapy for her congestion. At 8:15 the doctor came once again to see the baby and the baby was better and i said to myself this is a good hospital. The rooms were clean, there was a tv in the room, 2 chairs and everything was clean, with very nice lighting amd everybody was so nice and polite. By 9:00 i was being discharged. My baby got tooken care of so quickly, It took less time then me traveling to get there. This will be the last time i ever go to Richmond University Hospital. For the record my babys name is Janelly Pagan and remember shes only 2 MONTHS OLD!! And they dont even deserve this one star. It should be no stars !!
I walked in with really back pain two weeks ago. I explained to the doctor what was going and she said okay. So she sent me to have a catscan and an I.V. All for her to tell me that its probably nothing. I got a bill for over $2000.00 dollars for something that didnt help me at all. A true example of the corrupt American medical practice. I was not healed and now have more debt on top of our financial struggles. Even my wedding is going to be pushed off because of this. Thank you for nothing. Never again will I go to a hospital, I rather suffer.
If I could give it zero stars I would. Worst experience with maternity ward and after labor care. Incompetent nurses. Not on top of things as they should be, they will say they’re going to get you something and then not give it to you. Did not like the care they were showing for my newborn. HATED my time here. Couldn’t wait to go back to my OWN hospital. I’d rather take my newborn to Bellevue then have them waste my time.
I had a horrible experience on 1/31/19 by the emergency room Dr. Krishna Potluri. I had gone to the ER with my 1 year old who was suffering from a viral infection in his respiratory system and was having difficulty breathing at 8:30am I had gone early morning to RUMC with him where he was given oxygen treatment and prednisone and diagnosed with the Wrong condition RAD by another Doctor then sent home with prescription for prednisone and an inhaler. Later that night at around 11pm He was gasping for air for hours and was panicking and could not breath. I rushed him back to RUMC. Once there the ER doctor Dr Krishna Potluri did not even look at him once he knew I had been there earlier. He came in to the room abruptly with his coat on as if he had somewhere to go and just said oh hes fine stats are fine whatever your doing with medication and traatment your doing great, then tried to leave. I had to stop him and tell him I dont think I am using the inhaler correctly I dont think he is getting enough oxygen, He has not stopped whimpering in pain and distress and you can see his ribs as hes gasping for air. He has gotten so much worse than this morning. I had to lift my sons shirt and tell him LOOK LOOK AT HIM. This doctor did Nothing and said Oh yes thats terrible HE HAS RAD, And left. I never saw him again, i was then ready to leave but stopped bc i had not received discharge papers. Everyone there was more relieved that my whimpering baby was finally going to leave and they would no longer have to hear his cries. One staff member even said “oh what a dream come true” once my baby had quieted down for a few seconds.Fast forward I took my son home and he just kept getting worse I felt as if he was going to have respiratory failure and die, i can see every rib in his body as he cried and panicked trying to breathe. He was rapidly breathing and calling out for me after each breathe he tried to take, so I ran off to Staten island University Hospital at 6:30am. Once there the ER team IMMEDIATELY hooked him up to oxygen therapy with albutrol and monitored his vitals which showed he was in distress! They diagnosed him with bronchiolitis. Thank God I took him when I did bc his oxygen levels were dangerously low and heart rate was extremely high. I cannot believe this DR at RUMC lacked empathy on a 1 year old in distress!! Without a care in the world, ready to go outside and do God knows what! His lack of service could have caused my son to lose his life if I would have listened to him and waited with my son at home until follow up care in 2 days as he suggested. I thank Staten Island University for their care and quick treatment to help my child. We were admitted and he received the teatment he needed over the next 2 days. Do NOT TAKE YOUR CHILD OR ANYONE YOU LOVE TO RUMC hospital if they are in need of emergency treatment.
First time here at the ER for my child (vomiting+fever). Ill rate this place zero star before I see how their services are because I was told we have no available room for now, wait here pointing to a barbershop chair... The service quality evaluation starts from the first door a patient crosses no matter how good the service is after that door... If you dont have a room for my child its a so sad experience for me... After 1 hour and 20 minutes of waiting I had to complain and requested to speak to a supervisor. I spoke to somebody who quickly assigned my child a room (after I was told no room was available)... After another 1/2 hour finally I got a doctor to see my child. Will never come back. I do recommend to stay away from this place if you can. The SLOWEST ER ever seen...
If I could give this place zero stars, that would be too much. This is the absolute worst medical facility. The people on Staten Iand deserve better than this hell hole. We’ve been here over 7 hours- still no room. One nurse actually said “oh, you’re still here? We thought you left?” And two doctors have asked me if I have seen their patients. What a nightmare! Stay away.
My papa came here over 7 years ago , he had cancer and they weren’t a big help! Our papa decided to leave, a few days later he unfortunately died! If we can give this place zero stars I would be more than happy to, thank you for doing nothing!!! Everyday we have to realize that our papa is not with us!! I mean I understand that there is no cure for cancer but you quite didn’t help us if he hadn’t gone to that hospital he still would of been with us. I would sue this place.
Nurses in Cardiac Care are Wonderful, the nurses on the 5th floor are rude, insulting, obnoxious and negligent. If your elderly parent goes there and is not able to get up and WALK out into the hall to get help, he/she will be screwed. They do not change them or bathe them in a timely manner. If your loved one must go there, take my advice and show up at all different times, do not show up at the same time every day, because your loved one will be neglected and ignored until they know you are coming. The medical team advised against surgery do to patients unstable condition and Dr. Perlman (ortho surgeon) misled guardian saying patient needed surgery and was cleared by medical team, because he wanted to make money by doing surgery - HE WOULD HAVE KILLED THIS PATIENT if hed been granted approval to proceed. I would not recommend taking an elderly person to this hospital.
One word. Nightmare. Hospital is outdated. Everything is outdated. For the care. Some nurses should change their professions. Really. Some of them are rude and they dont really really care where they working. Patients are another meal and another day. I made a mistake to go there. If you have another options avoid that place. On the finish line one star is even too much.
All what these guys care about is money. They have lack of internal coordination and the finance department are unqualified and rude.I had my baby delivered there because I wanted a specific ob-gyn. I paid all the bills and got the clearance letter to receive later invoices by mail! Some nurses are good and others are careless. Some doctors lack the humane part. Not recommended at all...
I delivered my first baby at Richmond University Medical Center and had a wonderful experience. As soon as we stepped into the hospital to the time we left EVERY single staff member from the front desk, to the nurses, to the physicians were all extremely professional & caring! THANK YOU to all the staff for taking care of me and my son!!!!Alisa Arrigo
I have been here many times in my 13 years, and it fets worse every time. The first time, service was fast and staff was kind. Doctors listened and comforted parents amd broke down diagnosis with the young patients. The second time, same things, but service was a bit slow on test results. Third time, and most recent, was okay. Clean, taken back quicklg, placed in a room, the norm for the er. They tell me i need to stay overnight in the pediatric wing of hospital, no big deal. The big deal is, they didnt give us the room till after 3am!!!! They were all focused on a baby that had an ear infection. For 6 HOURS. My mom was upset. My dad came home early from work to bring us food and comfort my mom while i was eating. Finally, at 3 15 am, im wheeled into the room. Other than that major thing, it was fine. Recommended for minor things. If mahor things that need quick responses, go elsewhere.
Emergency room registration staff are rude and unprofessional. I could hear them talking about other patients diagnosis and laughing. I was in a bloody room for my family member asked to be changed to a cleaner room and was denied clearly a violation of patient care and bill of rights gathering medical information in an open area and violations of HIPAA. Im so going get a lawyer. Asked to speak to a supervisor/administrator no one came. Next step reach out to Debi rose this place should be shut down. Animals get better service at the Vet.
If you were to be on hold for this hospital you would think they were one of the finest institutions on the east coast if not the country. If you have to stay there over a weekend you will wonder if your illness is really bad enough to force you to stay there. My sister is currently in this hospital after suffering migraines that left her unable to move. She is now in a room with a woman who is very load and has a monitor that constantly beeps which the nurses do not check in a timely manner. This woman also can not make it to the bathroom and has a toilet setup less than 5 feet from my sisters bed. This woman has routinely missed and it took the staff some time to clean up the last mess of urine that sprayed the privacy curtain and leaked all the way under my sisters bed. Needless to say that this hospital stay is only making her worse especially the anxiety attacks she suffers from. I can only hope her complaints to the hospital lead to a new room or some better care .
Definitely the most disgusting facility I’ve ever been to and I was so happy the service wrote a prescription for my son that doesn’t exist, thank god I was able to contact his pediatrician, who actually has a brain to take care of what they were incapable of doing in the emergency room
The ladies on the first floor for delivery and labor are nasty and very spiteful , the Ladies on the second floor super nice helpful they helped more . Labor and delivery should get ladies that like there job and not be spiteful to the patients because they hate there job. The nurses have no compassion and the doctors are worse all nasty attitudes. Switching doctors all because of this hospital they need to update there staff when they work here so many years they loose hope and faith and compassion
If you are elderly, you might as well be for somewhere else. Horrible, my elderly parents has been there twice. And the 1st time they didnt finish his discharge papers and send him home after 9 hours in the ER . Thye wanted him to come back and sign. Now he is send home but the IV was left in his arm, this time he was there for after 13 hrs in the ER. This is an elderly man that has Parkinson and motor skills and not the same as a 50 year old.
This is a review of an emergency room doctor named Dr. Garcia. My 2 week old daughter was diagnosed with RSV at my pediatricians office and he told us to go to the RUMC ER to be admitted. My baby was so congested she was struggling to breathe and was lethargic and had stopped eating. She was seen by Dr. Garcia, who asked me why I thought she should be admitted. All I could say was that our doctor thought she should be. Then he asked why my doctor thought that. I said shes two weeks old and cant breathe. Dr. Garcia spoke to my pediatrician and finally agreed to admit her. We ended up needing a four night stay with supplemental oxygen and Albuterol treatments. We spoke to my doctor and he said that he had to push to have her admitted. Imagine if she didnt have a private doctor to advocate for her. A two week old baby who couldnt breathe wouldve been turned away by this doctor who doesnt take newborns in respiratory distress seriously. I thought that was totally egregious, and this man must not have much respect for human life. On the other hand, the nurses and doctors in the pediatrics unit were wonderful!
Gave birth a week ago. Amazing staff for the most part in L&D, except for one nurse (nightshift)who seemed annoyed with me everytime I needed help moving as I had an epidural. She also took her sweet time when I needed help after my water had broke. Besides that, amazing and caring staff in the maternity ward as well as the NICU.
I wish I could rate no stars !!!! Horrible birthing experience . They are C section happy ( one of the higest in the state)they want to pump you with drugs the as soon as you walk in. I was under the clock the moment I was admitted ---they Rushed me and told me every hour if I didnt progress quicker they would take the baby . Btw I was a low risk , prefect health and had natural birth before my only weakness was panic attacks and this was made know to them on my hospital tour( which was very different from when I was admitted ) . I also gave them my birthing plan months in advance . I was told they support natural birth although its not done much they said. When I was admited They basically laughed at my birth plan ( passed it around laughing at how long Ill last). At least 3 residents tried to give me an internal within two hours of being there . I was also urged to get piticon as soon as I got in my room and then I was then told that no one labors past 24 hours and almost everyone gets pitocin . I was also told they were betting on how long I could go with no epidural. Under all the pressure I had an anxiety attack and was rushed into an operating room by residents and told nothing. I layed on the metal table for 30 minutes with horrific contractions and was not allowed to move. I calmly cried and begged for them to call my doctor and not cut me. I was ignored and begged a nurse who had some sympathy to understand I was having a panic attack. I calmed myself again and thank God my doctor came and told them to leave me alone. I then was left alone and had a natural , vaginal birth despite this Horrible traumatic experience --- this place does not support natural birth or should I say vaginal birth in any way !!!!!! Im was also told that I broke hospital record by lasting 54 hours. Yeah I bet !!!! Your lucky if you and your baby make it out alive. Do not give birth here !!!!!! Run !!!!Other facts --- no laction coach present ( I could make an appointment if I wanted because waiting a week later is so practical ) then after all this trauma I was then pressured to make my baby eat or give him formula. Remind you I had not slept yet and suffered from maternal exuastion !!! FYI hes 20 months and still Brest feeding no thanks to any of you. If you dont know how to nurse expect zero help. You are on your own! There are many other complaints like the filth in the other areas or the hospital and broken wheelchair that I was forced to ride.( I then paid$$$ for a private room because of all of it witch was very nice if you can do it ) Its endless my dissatisfaction stay away for you and your childs sake please.
The wait to come & leave is ridiculous. They ignore you & dont give you paperwork that they FORCE you to sign for. Theyre busy talking to each other to understand the concept of work. Coming in I saw doctor in 45 min but didnt give me right paper work, took them OVER an hour to give & take correct paperwork & the paper work to leave. Save your time, find a hospital that understands concept of work & cares.
ER was filthy. Went to labor & delivery- just as disgusting. The nurses were absolutely nasty. Holes and stains on the sheets. No pillows, no blankets, dont bother asking for them by youll get denied. They dont give u any information unless u ask in front of a doctor. This place needs to be bulldozed to the ground. Found out that a friend of mine got MRSA from here as well. Needless to say, you couldnt pay me to give birth here.
This hospital is a joke the nurses sit around talking about their personal lives and what food their gonna order laughing while people are sick and in pain. I was sat in a dirty burgundy reclining chair that had food with mold under it for 2 hours before anyone seen me then waited another 3 1/2 hours for meds that I seen and heard the doctor tell the nurse to take care of and the nurses sat there loudly joking and laughing with other staff while I repeatedly asked what was going on only to be ignored then the doctor told the nurse I was discharged get my papers to me only to wait another 2 hours and 40 minutes for discharge papers.. I had to remind them to put my leg in a immobilizer. This hospital is a joke. There was a guy dont know his exact position in the ER but his name was Ira Young this man did more than all the nurses put together in that ER he was non stop helping people and doing all and everything the nurses asked more like told him to do while they sat there without a care in the world. This man should run that ER he is amazing. As for treatment dont go here if you need immediate medical attention .
Received excellent surgical care for hysterectomy. Nurse, residents and all staff were friendly, accomodating, caring and helpful. had reservations about this hospital, but had high confidence in my surgeon. The anasthesiologist was incredible, he ensured i would be fine and i was. Typically the nausea gets me everytime but not with these guys! Thank you all for a great experience!
My heart hurts for people who come here for help. People are rude.. Overworked.. And just miserable. My cousin was mauled by a pitbull and her face was pretty much disfigured. Her nose & lip was hanging off. The ER was filthy. The bathroom reminded me of something youd see at a lowclass gas station or mechanics. The curtain showed on each side... If youre looking for privacy while in any distress you will NOT get it here. People passing looked in the entire time - still with her face dismantled. Even employees looking for patients would look in and ask her name and just leave. No kind of sympathy or anything. They would just leave. Please if you have time ( considering whatever your circumstances are ) go to another hospital... Go. Avoid this one at all costs if you want at least average care. Its very sad. Its unprofessional & unsanitary. I dont even know how this place is still in operation.
I was a resident at RUMC a while ago. But my wife shared her experience as a patient here with me today. Not to think she had any VIP treatment, there they didnt even know who she was, and I was just a resident anyway. She told me that she was treated with nothing but respect and received nothing but the best of care at any level, including the residents that attended to her, which were from different specialty services and included no one I knew at the time.I know RUMC had its problems, from listening to patients grievances and complaints time and time again. But for a hospital dedicated to serving the community, understaffed and taking care of a population from which many do not have the capacity to pay their bills and never will, I now know from both sides that the care providers have nothing in their hearts and minds but providing the best of patient care. I know that it may take a long time for a bedpan or clean sheets to arrive or for someone to listen and respond appropriately, but I also know that likely the staff will be attending someone in greater need, and the inconvenience often comes at the price well worth it, sometimes, a saved life.In any case, I personally feel in debt to RUMC and dedicated to serving the hospital that served us well.
The er doctor saved my 2 months old life- she was diagnosed with rsv . we cant thank him enough . the pediatric nurses in icu were extrmely on top of things while my daughter was there as well as taking care of the other children. the er is dirty and old...but they soon should be getting a new building.....they do have alot of patients that are brought in from the NYPD.....but thats what they get when they close baley SEATON.....
I had the unfortunate experience of visiting this hospital on 2 separate occasions. The first time I was suffering food poisoning or an allergic reaction of some sort after ingesting a peach around noon. It had been the first thing I had eaten that day and shortly after my lips tongue and throat began to itch and swell. When I could no longer breathe without great effort I began to panic and my friend drove me to the hospital. After waiting to be admitted while in this state I asked to receive immediate medical attention as I could not breathe and asked if I could appoint someone else to answer their barrage of intake questions. Not only did they refuse, they were nasty, rude, and kept accusing me of being on drugs, and partying. I was not administered any type of medicine for allergies, nor an IV with saline. I was simply put in a bed and ignored. I sat there and suffered until my body processed the peach and that was when I also began to have severe intestinal cramping, I was actually crying from the pain. When I asked to go to the bathroom I was told I would have to wait for someone to come with a wheelchair but they never came. I got up to use the bathroom myself so I would not soil the bed and was nastily reprimanded for that as well. I was discharged with them having done nothing but accuse me of being high and then ignoring me. The second visit was a psychiatric visit after i experienced my first bipolar manic episode almost 3 years later. I had not slept in ten days and had barely eaten. I was exhausted, disoriented and dehydrated, but I certainly did not need to be committed. But the attending nurse told me to sign papers that ended up being my voluntary self-commitment to the facility. I say voluntary because as I attempted to read the documents I was told to stop, to hurry, and just sign it. I was denied an IV with saline to hydrate me during the intake. I was denied blankets and proper clothing. Through the 6 days I was stuck in the psychiatric ward I developed a flu from how incredibly cold it was and several others did as well. THE PSYCHIATRIC UNIT MAY JUST BE THE WORST PART OF THIS HORRIBLE HOSPITAL. I was told that if I did not take the medicine they prescribed that they would get a court order a d pub me down and force me to keep taking it, EVEN THOUGH they caused me to vomit, shake, and feel absolutely terrible. (I later learned that I was having an adverse reaction that could have done permanent damage to my nervous system, which may have left me with a lifelong tremor.) I was sexually harassed by 2 other patients and though I reported it nothing was done and I was told that I had to come out and socialize around these same people if I wished for a favorable evaluation and discharge. I think it goes without saying that the place was absolutely filthy- I actually asked if I could clean it since I had nothing else to do. The nurses basically sat on their computers the entire time and were so very nasty. I asked for, and was denied, information about the drugs they prescribed and my diagnoses. Also, I was asked to sign a form which allowed the hospital to use my clinical information for research (it IS a university hospital after all) but the problem was I could barely hold a pen and, due to the drugs they had forced upon me I was not even really aware of what it meant. Two nurses do stand out in my mind as being kind and I knew they could even tell the place was hurting people much more than it was helping them. I would not return to this hospital for any reason, ever. Also, later I called them for a release form for medical information and the man on the phone (nastily) told me to go on google click the box in the middle of the screen (condescending) and type in HIPAA and print the PDF. (in case you didnt know no such thing exists; OTHER hospitals have release forms and they will fax them to patients that have only paid thousands of dollars to be there.) in short this hospital is dirty, it is cheap and underfunded, falling apart. The staff are mostly nasty, rude, underqualified people.
The worst by far. Ive have never in all my years. Im a mother and I went in for a knee injury waited for hours with other people in my personal space and not only that I had to return on Saturday because my leg gave out and fell on my injured knee causing more swelling and pain on a scale of 1 to 10 its a 10. They told me to wait for my appointment and they sent me on my way with out examining my leg. I went to my pcp which is in Richmond university as well they told me more likely I need a knee replacement. Sent Me home they said I wasnt able to take ibpro due to abdominal issues. So Im here laying in bed in excruciating pain not knowing what to do with myself. Im not one to complain about pain but when I do its seriously painful. I cant even lift bend my leg its the worst Ive ever been. 7/10/17 update looks like they are under staff right now because I walked in with my niece and its filthy beyond this looks like its a Biohazard I took so Many pics wish I can post..
I am not sure what is going on in your hospital. I have a family member in your hospital right now. Myself and other family members (we are not in NYC) have been trying to speak to someone for 2 days to get an update as to how our family member is doing. When I can get through to the operator which is maybe 1 out of 4-5 attempts, I ask for the nurses station on the 6th floor. If I am lucky enough to get through to the nurses station I ask to speak to the doctor or nurse who is in charge of my family members case I am put on hold. After a few minutes I get dead air. My family member has voiced that her care is not up the standards of the ethical codes and protocols as dictated by the AMA. Something needs to be done about this.
2 things I didnt like about hospital. 1 was AC was to hot being the month of August 80 for a hospital is toooo hot mind you that newborns need bacteria free areas. And 2nd at discharge from hospital, papers were given to me and nobody checked that I was taking baby or my hubby. He walked out of hospital w no questions asked and I follow and nobody ask or said a word. That for me was a big alert. But staff was great while i was in my room and delivery moment. Triage needs improvements bigtime.
This hospital is the worst hospital in Staten Island. Avoid going there. Most of the people that work there will not care about you. If the ambulance takes you leave you in that place ask for a transfer you to another hospital. It is better to have pain for some moment while the transportation to another hospital that sees people ignoring your pain. I had nursing and doctors ignoring my pain. Nasty place!!!
Waiting time is atrocious and the nurses act as if this isn’t there job. There was literally a full room of patients in the ER that needed help or had questions, and the nurses were practically ignoring them. nothing is more insulting than being ignored as the nurses show eachother pictures on their phones
This is what I can refer to as the center of racism. The staff treat the blacks like animals, take special interest in the so called white peoples. I am suppose to stay a maximum of 48hours, in less than 24hours they got all proofs to discharge me but I was told its late for the day. After 48hours they said there is no doctor to read a test I did more than 24hours ago and the man we were together in the same room got his report few hours after he did his which is about 32hours after I did mine. Up till now I still do t know when am going home. They only keep me here without any treatment or medicine. I cant recommend this most useless hospital for even a dead body to be kept here.
I had an ambulatory surgery done here and reading the stars I was a bit skeptical but followed my Ob here. The staff was absolutely wonderful and caring and would give five stars if it would be a bit more updated. I guess it is a budget issue... anyway I will not hesitate to go back to this place in case I need to .
Beware of the Billing Department. Make sure to save all your receipts and Explanation of Benefits Statements from your insurance company. Try to claim that the insurance company try to take money back. Called the insurance company and Richmond University Medical Center tried to double claim and I have update statement from the insurance company. Been fighting with them about this since May 2017!! Be careful of they been trying to double charge me. Take goodness I saved all my bills, the checks and receipts.
July 27.2016 18:30. Me n my daughter came in Emergency lower back pain. Kidney pain blood in urion. In unit 2. The PCA was very nasty. Told me that when she comes in the room she wants eye contact and when she speaks I am to have full attion on her. . plus she spoke to who ever she wanted to speak to. She threatened a little lady that if she had to come back n hear how bad her back pain hurted she was going to tie her hands to the bed n then her back was really going to hurt her.. That is ABUSE.. THE Orthopedist released me n we waited hours. To go home. The RN big Heavey set white blond hair n the PA skinny white blond were so deceving. Ive been running high fever n they pumping fluids in me with no pain meds....passing kind.stones is very hard n very painful..
People stay away from this hospital !!!!!!!!My mother was admitted yesterday, she is 87 , nobody came to her all she got was a Tylenol , now 24 hours later she is still in Emergency room all alone without proper diagnosis and care. Stuff is not helping with any answers , only answer they have is HIPA regulation .worse experience in my life, stay away from this place!!!!!!!!!!!
Having a baby...? Cross over to Nj.Overall not a bad experience with delivery staff - but theres plenty of chipped paint..moldy dirty bathrooms. HALF THE STAFF SMOKES RIGHT OUTSIDE (across street from main entrance) Food is the worst! poison and death.. Have high blood pressure? Theyll feed you salty-fried foods. Diabetic?Youll be served processed foods, boxed juices and artificial sweetners.(They gave my mother in law antibotics..when having chest pains..--- she had had a stroke!!! Smh smh smh.)Aches and pains.. Stay home till day 3! Theyll give you Tylenol and send you home..after plugging you with 3or4 Saline bags. 4-600$each! Medical bureaucracy at its most greedY!- Pricing is ridiculously expensive--So unless your sorely bleeding, not breathing or have a bone popping out your leg...heavy rash or throwing up. Be prepared to wait and take Tylenol for your pain.
I was admitted to the hospital.I was given all the proper bands to show my allergies. Im allergic to nuts ,eggs, seafood So, the first meal was Fish dinner then, for breakfast was eggs. Now these things were corrected but they shouldnt have brought it in the first place. There is no communication between the departments and doctors and nurses and the patients condition are at risk.
This is the worst hospital ever, a family member went in yesterday with severe chest pain and difficulty breathing came out after seven ours with albuterol , got in the car went straight to Staten Island university hospital, she was seen right away and after doing extensive testing on her she has a bacterial infection in her lungs and was admitted right away and seen by a specialist and is on IV antibiotics within hours. We will never go back to Richmond university hospital ever and another note she was never seen by a medical doctor only a physician assistant saw her and when we got our discharge papers they had the nerve to put a physicians name as the discharge doctor whom we never saw, what illegal practice that is. Avoid them at all cost.
They killed my mother and try to say it was natrual causes when my mother had about 28 to 30 years left to a possibly longer life! . they made bad choices and they dont care that its lives at stake . and i swear when i get the right lawyer on my side every staff member that had anything to do with my mothers care while she staid is going under investigation i promise you! My mother was only 60 yrs old. They killed her due to medical malpractice from not being on point with her health issues. I feel like my heart was ripped out before my eyes... This came out of no where. How could you guys be so dumb!
This place is absolutely horrible. The er is filthy dirty. the bathroom looked like something you would see in a third world country. I came in for chest pain and my nurse kristen in the ed was rude and condescending. For the time i was there she was yelling across the room like she was at a football game. everybody walks right past you when you ask for help. i waited an hour for my discharge papers from the time they told me i could leave so i just walked out. horrible experience. never again.
Only speaking as a visitor to this facility. The hospital itself is quite dated but clean, staff is helpful and they arent TOO strict with visitors, thankfully.Be sure to have a $5 bill when visiting so you can leave the lot after you purchase a token in the main lobby.
I was seen by the medical students then the ER doctor. They did an amazing job taking care of me and they provided me with a professional and great care. Last time I went to this hospital was 7 years ago and I have noticed a drastic change. I highly recommend this hospital..
Went into the ER because I am having really bad back pain at 1:39 am 12/10/16 when I got there the security guard was acting as if he was the damn police talking to people like he own the hospital then I get in Triage the nurse was taking my vitals and as we all was upset with the security guard who wanted to put a patient before me she started saying things like F that family if they want medical care they need to go back to they country I ignored the comment because I am in to much pain to address it now I was in the ER for 3 hrs before a doctor came to meet with me and when she came she asked me what was wrong and I told her she had the nerve to tell me that I need to sleep on the floor and stretch my back they did not send me for Xrays she didnt even want to touch me. Then told me she was going to give me a shot what shot I have no clue what it was and what it do the she want to give me a prescription for muscle relaxer all the while no test was run she literally spent 5 mins with me and that was it. At this poit my blood pressure is high im upset and that I didnt received there care my insurance is paying for. I got dressed and I left very upset as I was leaving the security gard tried to tell me I couldnt leave at this point I am furious how dear you not treat me as you should then try to hold me against my will. This is the worst hospital by far I will be calling my insurance company to file a complaint I am going to reach out to people to share this tremendously horrible experience I had
There is no patient privacy. If there is a HIPAA inspection this hospital will have to pay huge penalties. Jenine Pluy who is the nurse on the 6th floor is extremely rude with patients and co-workers. You can hear her yelling at her co-workers. She needs to learn how to respect others and should go to training by the hospital and should be placed on probation for 6 months..
If you walk in with a minor paper cut or even an axe halfway through your skull, the wait time would probably be the same in this so called ER facility. Im surprised no one has created a skeleton meme about how long this place takes to treat patients but if they do it would probably go viral. i understand its a Hh pff *cough* 😂 Hospital and accuracy and testing is important but what this place does is torture. you walk in, get admitted right away, asked whats wrong and what brings you in today, all that Mumbo Jumbo... get seated or bedded what have you... and I guess it may seem like a quick and speedy process at first but thats just to get the custo- hmhhm sorry, patients...Then they turn evil. You will be asked the same darn questions over and over and over again by so many different people and the time is drastically increased in intervals each time a new random person walks in. sometimes you might even get those poor young interns for which you can end up being the lab rat for. Even boring squidward would not find this place attractive with the crappy tv, boring tv channels and no vending machines for some snacks at least maybe? The visitor will probably die before the actual patient. What makes my blood boil even more is when they make you wait so long but at the same time blatantly show you why that is the case. Staff is wandering around stalling time, GOSSIPING about girlfriend/boyfriend relationships , confused, literally skipping their tasks and doing as they please.Example scenario:Staff 1: so you have chest pain right?- 5 minutes later...Staff 2: hi, I heard youre having some chest pain?- 30 minutes later...Staff 3: yo what are you in for again?-2 hours later...Staff 4: the doctor will be here shortly-3 and a half hours later...Doctor: * takes 2 minutes to diagnoseIll be here shortly after the tests-4 hours later...Nurse: * checks vital signs for the 11th timeYour second doctor will be here shortly-5 hours laterDoctor#2: patient James... you have herpes.-5 minutes later...***James dies R.I.P 💀Come to this facility if youd like to grow some grey hair
I beat covid thru the grace of god I was on icu and every single one of the staff members made me feel like to was ok, D Monroe she’s a transport she done an amazing she treated me with respect and dignity.. My nurse she went above and beyond for me and the drs are wonderful.. I know this hospital gets bad reviews but durin this time they are really showing us they are a community hospital.. Thank you all
This is by far the most slowest service I have ever received in any hospital. The facility is very old and run-down, they postpone my appointment schedule by 2 hours. They serve people that come first before appointment time, come early by an hour if you want to get the time that was reserved for you.Would not recommend.
ZEROOOOO STARS This Hospital is money hungry misdiagnosed me and now is harrasing me about hospital bills from 2016 when i was admitted when the staff was supposed to help me get the Medicaid then told me to finish my application once i brung my pay stubs like if i was admitted how was i Getting paystubs dont go here they don’t care about the patients and will try to ruin your credit!!!!! I tried signing myself out they called the hospital security to block my room from leaving.
I wish there was a way to give ZERO STARS! A relative of mine was sent to the hospital by their Doctor due to Chest pains. They went to the ER and was in the ER all night! If a person comes in with chest pain WHY WOULD YOU HAVE THEM IN THE ER ALL NIGHT LONG! That is ridiculous!!! By far the worse ER on Staten Island!!
Want to put 0 stars, but sorry Google not letting me! Visited emergency room with chest pain today, have a terrible experience with lack of care and awful interaction with security guard and his supervisor Charlie Candela. I was taken aback by lack of respect and lack of compassion towards a patient who came to ED to seek care.
Under the recommendation of my sons counselor he was brought to this hospital today 6/23/20 for mental health. As I was speaking with the Doctor giving him examples of why my son should be admitted into the hospital, the Doctor was giving me all the reasons why he should not be admitted! This is why so many people with mental health issues are left in the streets to harm themselves and others! Tonya Johnson
As bad as the reviews say. I came in with a deep wound that cut through the tendons and needed surgery. I came in about 11:30pm and wasnt cleaned for 3/4 hours after I complained about the risk of getting an infection. I sat there bleeding until then. They bandaged and got me a room at about 4am. I was told the surgeon wasnt available. I fell asleep, woke up in the am and was told the surgeon still wasnt available. Then I was told 1pm. Its now 6pm. Aside from that Ive only had 1 bandage change and other nurses have noticed my bandage. I havent been able to eat because I was told that will delay the surgery. Also this place looks pretty dirty. Cosmetically its a dump. And the nurses have an attitude for no good reason. I will update this to let you know but if I dont get treated after 24hrs (11:30pm tonight I am leaving to another hospital)
Im very disappointed with doctor Michael Campanella , im a mother of a patient need to advise hospital management this doctor left patient in pain for 5 hours not coming to check on patient that was in labor pain for 24 hours nurses service was very rude , I had to call and scream to get the doctor Michael to check on my daughter .one nurse had nerve to ask me why you need a doctor ? I wish I knew her name so rude not professional worst experience with doctor and his staff ever !!!!
Absolutely disgusting ER. Blood spattered floors, vomit and other bodily fluids on walls, filthy filthy conditions! I brought my son to the ER for a possible broken finger. After waiting over an hour without even seeing TRIAGE, I went up to the nurse to ask why a child is made to wait so long. Usually children are given precedence. The answer I was given? There is no pediatric ER until noon. We walked out and drove to bridgewater NJ, to a medemerge, was seen, xrayed, treated, bandaged, AND returned home in less time than we waited in that disgusting ER. Never never again.
To call this place a medical center is a scam. The Drs on LD care only about what they need to be doing. if you are not progressing the way they want they will force you into the OR. The anesthesiologist in particular on the LD unit are completely incompetant! Do NOT bother complaining to the hospital it goes directly to the garbage
Worst two lady receptionist i have ever seen in my life in the lobby area, they never help or answer any question, they were with their own personal talk to each other. please fire them. I experienced this on 01/06/2017 about 3:30pm, i would like to advice this to hospital management .I am very sorry to say this.
Terrible experience, was given a bed that had a body imprint from another person, was forced to sleep in a chair. Patients with visitors were doing cocaine in the adjacent room. Was on edge the whole time, not able to sleep, the air was stagnant and could not wait to get out of this place. DO NOT EVER EVER go to this place. It should be closed down.
Was there just as a visitor. And i will never go back. Horrible place, E.R. very dirty and filthy. The staff are not helpful and very nasty. Thank god my aunt and cousin were taken out of rumc and taken to another hospital. The only staff that was very nice and helpful to me and my family was a nice security or police officer that was in the lobby when we got there. And he was extremely nice.
Had an episode of uncontrollable muscle spasms from a drug they gave me via IV and they didnt help me, instead put me in the crazy room and blamed me!! When I got home and looked up the drug I found out the problem!! They gave me nothing to help!! I layed there for an hour kicking and shaking and finally left. I contacted a malpractice attorney!!
DO NOT come to this ER save yourself the trip and go to the other hospital on the other side of the island the nurses are rude lack empathy or compassion the EMT AND NURSES violate HIPPA by speaking atrociously about patients super unprofessional and unorganized everyone in the ER department from the nurses the EMT the security guards charge nurse save yourself the horrible experience please
This review is for the maternity wing, everybody from doctors, nurses and beyond were great when I had my baby a few weeks ago, I had a C section and my anesthesiologist, doctor Fu(sp?) Was fantastic, supportive and very capable, all nurses, pediatricians and the rest of the doctors that took care of me were amazing and I feel grateful that my baby and I were in such capable hands!
Worst hospital ever my father in law was discharged with the I.V still in his arm didn’t find this out till almost 30 hours after he has been home that the needle was still in his wrist most incompetent nurse and doctor staff ever that’s y people go to Brooklyn or Jersey hospitals ....
ABOUT A YEAR AGO I WENT AND HAD A CATSCAN FIRST THE WOMAN WHO GIVES YOU A SHOT BEFORE THE CATSCAN JUST CAME OVER AND SHOVED THE NEEDLE IN MY ARM BEFORE I WENT TO THIS HOSPITAL I HAD ONE CYST ON MY LIVER SO AFTER I HAD THE CATSCAN THE CATSCAN TEC SAID I HAVE A FEW CYST ON MY LIVER NOW I THOUGHT MY DOCTOR WAS THE ONLY ONE TO TELL ME THE RESULTS RUDOLPH TERLIZZI Jr. THEY SENT ME A LETTER IN THE MAIL AND THE LETTER READ BASICALLY DONT COME HERE THEN A FEW WEEKS LATER I GET ANOTHER LETTER IN THE MAIL SAYING IM ALLOWED TO COME TO THIS HOSPITAL I WENT TO THE EMERGENCY ROOM MY NAME IS RUDOLPH TERLIZZI Jr
We bring the kid 2 & half year old in ER & he has cut on his back of head & he also bleed to much and there is only one DOC in emergency at 2 am, DOC just see the kid and said he is not in that much emergency I’m going to see other patient then I’ll come back and will staple his head & not gonna Num his head he will get to much pain when I will put staple his head you just have to hold him very hard now in Staten Island NY in emergency there is only one DOC available no one else and staff is very rude also the DOC is to RUDE
This review is for the Maternity Ward only.... I stayed at this hospital over night and received pretty good care......the nurses did not check on me or the equipment that often which I thought was a big downfall......and I had to call them to to do so.....I also thought most of the furnishings in the hospital were very low budget and old...... This place is definitely in need of a makeover......The doctors that oversaw my care made good decisions reguarding my care and regarding special circumstances.....they admitted me when necessary and discharged me in a timely fashion......Overall this is an ok to good facility...but could def stand some money and attention.....
Denied water while i was there for bad cough and throut problem told to leave by security guards while waiting on my girlfriend cause i guess she felt stupid that someone got it water for me was denied my xray scan said it wasnt needed after in was put in there system
First of all I would like to say this is the most disgusting hospital I have ever walked into, its sad when the nurse is surprised that the room bathroom is actually not disgusting.I went in with my sister who is might I add 14 weeks pregnant and was heavily bleeding. The pca told my sister to sit in the waiting room on the chairs and didnt even hand her anything to sit on,my sister was bleeding all over the chair in the waiting room the PCA did not mention to the nurse what was going on with my sister ,my sister got up to register and there was blood all over the chair which I wiped away and then when I ask the PCA if she could bring my sister a towel to sit on she got disgusting with me and told my sister to sit down and wait I proceeded to go up to the PCA and ask her what her name was she would not show me her badge and asked me why I wanted her name with a disgusting attitude I told her that I was going to make a complaint against her and she proceeded to get nasty with me,when my sister was finally called in the nurse apologized to her for not taking her condition seriously and the PCA continued to harass my sister about making come a complaint against her... much to review right now but I will be calling the state of New York to make a major complaint against this hospital its absolutely disgusting I wouldnt want to die in this Hospital.
I DONT RECOMEND THIS HOSPITAL AT ALL ! EVRYONE TAKES FOR EVER TO DO SOMTHING ,NO ONE KNOWS WEAR THE DOCTERS ARE WHEN YOU NEED THEM, EVERY TIME YOU LOOK AT THE STAFF THEY ARE ON THEIR CELLPHONES SMILING AND LAUGHING.WHEN IT COMES TO PRESCRIPTIONS THEY TELL YOU THEY SEND IT TO THE PHARMACY AND WHEN YOU GET THERE NOTHING HAS BEEN SEND!! AND NOW IT HAS HAPPEND TO ME LIKE 3 TIMES IM DEFINETLEY SWITCHING
They dont like to help u unless u are dieing my girlfriend suffers from major panic attacks and get disoriented to the point where she dont know whats going and has to go to the hospital sometimes 2-3 times a week and instead of admitted her and giving her the help she needs by adjusting her meds they do nothing its crazy and then they have the nerve to call u and say well theres nothing we can do her and if u dont want her home we send her to shelter I just want her to get help and everyone refuses to do anything its really makes no sense u see a patient there 2-3 times a week for months in a row and no 1 does anything even her own doctor as send her there and they do nothing shame on them

2022-01-24Everyone is nice and will take care of you right away. My dad recently had surgery and every nurse was very nice and very helpful. Explained to us how the process was going to go and what to do after the surgery. Our experience at this hospital was amazing. Thank you Dr. Kuczabski.

2022-02-18Unfortunately I have been to many different hospitals and I have to say that this was the worst experience I have ever had. They managed to make a very traumatic emergency visit more horrible then I could have imagined. I knew the hospital had a bad reputation, but I could never imagine the way we were treated. Many of the nurses were wonderful, but some of the drs like Dr Capili were so uncaring and never communicated with us. When your child is almost dies you should expect a little bit more care from the people in charge of your child. They made a bad situation worst and even when we complained nothing was done.BY the way I did contact your patient relations department and that is why I wrote this review. Even the mistake that the dr apologized for was denied later. Make sure you record everything and go outside the hospital with complaints!

2021-12-14I came to this hospital for an emergency treatment about a week after thanksgiving. I could not of been treated more respectfully, or efficiently. The room where I had received my treatment was beyond sanitary, and the nurses assigned to me where very educated and helpful with all my questions/concerns.I was never at this hospital before this visit, I came here off of a recommendation, and I am glad that I did.

2022-04-24If you can avoid it, don’t give birth here. They do not respect you. They ignore your wishes. They push interventions like crazy. They held my baby hostage in NICU literally to push formula. She wasn’t allowed to leave until she would finish a whole bottle (which the amount is way too much for a newborn) despite me saying she was exclusively breastfed. They wouldn’t allow me to try breastfeeding. They didn’t even teach me how to pump. And the doctor performed a routine episiotomy (meaning.. for no reason) despite me having said no to it seconds before. 5 years later and still extremely traumatized from it. Worst hospital I’ve ever experienced.

2022-06-04Atrocious!! Stay far, far away from this hospital! From the terrible ER doctors, to the uncaring, sarcastic nurse on the 4th floor, Jennifer-to the rude, lazy front desk attendant Laura and the bulldog wanna be cop security guard Tom who said I could not speak to the hospital patient manager on the phone while sitting in the visiting waiting area. He kicked me out of the hospital , stating if youre not a patient you have to leave . Mind you I was calmly and in a low voice talking to the Patient manager Debbie at the time when he kicked me out. And let me finish by saying that the reason I encountered these individuals was because the doctors wrote what the pharmacist said was an incomplete prescription for my 84 year old mother who by the way was discharged the day before to hospice care. When I went back to the hospital to get it corrected I was met by a wall. I wasnt allowed to go upstairs to the 4th floor to try and get a new prescription written nor was I allowed to go to patient services for help. Laura stated that the procedure was for me to call patient services first. When I tried following her directions by calling Patient services I was then kicked out by Tom. If you love your love ones please take them somewhere else.

2022-06-03This was the WORST er experience of my life. Dr Usama Tahir was dismissive, incompetent, and rude. He threw his hands up and stormed off unaware that he was not being clear. It took a medical “student” to explain things to me that he as a doctor should have explained. Then I was told I had to pick up a prescription and when I left they didnt give me the prescription, I called back to get info on where I need to go to pick up the prescription, and the guy who answered the phone was RUDE as well. He asked me why was I calling the ER to ask about a prescription in the most condescending way. How can a hospital where we must entrust our lives in the hands of other people be this rude and uncaring. Ill never go to this hospital again.

2022-01-08I have been to the endoscopy unit many times and my experience has been uniformly excellent. The nursing staff and physicians are professional and caring. I no longer live in Staten Island, but if I still lived there I would definitely continue to go there for diagnostic procedures.

2022-06-15The 2.4 Rating speaks for itself. Avoid at all costs. Seriously. I can’t believe these doctors and administrators went through all those years of schooling just to hold themselves to such a low standard. Pathetic. I’m sorry for all the nurses who have to work with such incompetent individuals.

2022-03-29My 86 year old father was scheduled for surgery today. 3pm still waiting. I called the patient services number that was listed under another negative review here, and they had an iv going in minutes, and off to surgery shortly after.
