Just got back from Ricks for dinner and drinks and everything about the place was excellent! Food was great, I got the salmon and my wife got the filet medallions. Waitress was super friendly and accommodating. We had a large group (9) and everyone said their meal was excellent. I highly recommend Ricks for dinner. I had 2 Makers Mark old fashions and never had 1 better. The bone in ribeye looked and smelled awesome, would have ordered that but just had 1 last week.
The small plates were delicious. A lot of different flavors that blended beautifully. The dinners were overly salty. The steak was tough, grizzled and overly salted as well. The vegetables were overcooked and ruined. The rolls were pretty dried out and hard. For a restaurant that is supposed to be top notch, the head chef needs a lighter hand or the sous chef needs a promotion. Weve eaten at a lot of restaurants in western new York. This didnt even make it into the top 50%.
At 1st we couldnt find a place to park so we took advantage of their valet service. We were seated immediately, greated by an awesome server. She kept us well fed, and made sure we didnt go thirsty. We started off with calamari and an order of banana peppers. Cooked perfectly. Then we moved onto the main course the Bass special. Again cooked perfectly. Soo good. Thank you for a great night out.
Outstanding. Our server was attentive but not a constant presence. I had the lobster pasta. The noodles were large and almost looked homemade. They were much larger than store bought linguini. The sauce was excellent. If I had one complaint it was that the asparagus was a bit overcooked. My hubby had a flatiron steak special with delicious truffle fits and grilled zucchini. We finished dinner with a strawberry shortcake for me and an Irish Espresso for him.
A bit of a hot mess, both literally and figuratively. Although it was about 50 degrees outside, a large fireplace was lit in a full, compact dining room! It must have been 75-80 inside! Yikes! It was eventually turned off, as someone noticed some sweltering diners. I was dining with one companion, my mother. We arrived 5 minutes prior to our reservation time @ 1p today (Friday 3/25/22). A group of 4 arrived soon after. The hostess, who was very pleasant, said she was not ready for us, although I made my reservation through Open Table, which she did have a record of. We were seated after 10 minutes. We waited about another 10 minutes for someone to take our drink order. This is when my mother and I saw that the party seated after us already had their drinks. We quickly found out that there were 2 servers: a very pleasant young lady and our server. I believe that a previous poster on Google had the misfortune to have our server. The OP mentioned that their server kept referring to their party as kids, and was not up to the usual standards of Ricks. That assessment is absolutely correct! My very sweet mother hails from NYC, although she has lived in WNY since the early 90s. When the server asked for our drink orders, my mother asked for coffee. Since my mom is not from this area, she pronounces coffee differently. The server actually imitated my moms accent, and said, You are clearly not from here. At that point, I asked my mom if she would like to leave, but my mom wanted to treat me to a nice lunch, and said that Ricks has great food. She was right. Our usual East Aurora lunch spot, The Roycroft Inn, has not been serving lunch since COVID. I had the Chicken Wing soup, Crab Cakes, and Brookie. My mom had the Turkey Sandwich, Sweet Potato Fries, and Creme Brulee. She said her lunch was excellent, and so was mine. I think if we had the other server, our experience would have been considerably different. I did find the portions to be a bit small, however, I am really not a part of the target demographic, based on the lunch time diners. Many were 65+ and of the WASP variety. My mother, who is a very gracious and elegant lady, did not deserve to be made fun of. I think of East Aurora as being a more genteel and kind place, and the server was not like any server I have encountered before in EA. She also brought me the wrong beverage, and was never refilling the water glasses, or asking us if we needed more beverages. I also thought it was odd given the table linen service, wait time, and price point, that a basket of bread was not offered. This employee may be related to the owner(s), which is why she is employed at this establishment. Owner(s): It may behoove you to know that a refined and educated lady from NYC should be treated with as much respect as a local. My mother and I have been frequent guests at The Roycroft Inn over the decades, and once they resume lunch service, we will be headed there as they have always treated us with kindness! The 2 stars are awarded for your excellent chef and the pleasant hostess, who refilled our water glasses.
Excellent food and fun drinks. We had 2 speciality salads- a beer one and a gogonzola toasted walnut. We had the Lacquered Salmon and Gorgonzola filled. Great sweet potato fries. Interesting autumn cocktail. Atmosphere is cozy and inviting.Prices were about 15% above market , but otherwise a wonderful meal.
First time here. Came with a group for our friend Smegs birthday. Very nice atmosphere and decor. Friendly staff. Had samples of their crab cakes at Taste of East Aurora and are absolutely amazing, so had intentions of coming here at some point and was not disappointed. Food looked beautiful and tasted great! Prices werent too bad, but it was only the lunch menu. Will definitely be coming back sooner rather then later to try dinner!
If you’re looking for a restaurant with the upmost class… Ricks is the right choice. Michael Perillo, the owner, is incredibly hands-on, careful, knowledgeable, professional and perfect when it comes to providing a 5 star dinner experience in East Aurora, NY. We went for an early dinner, stayed for four hours- hands down- TOP NOTCH! Thank you!
Dined over Labor Day 2019 weekend to celebrate my in-laws 50th anniversary. We had high expectations given the reviews, but were disappointed. I communicated we were celebrating a special anniversary when making the reservation and they said it would be added to the notes. Upon arrival, there was no mention of the anniversary by hostess nor server. The setting in a historic home is unique, however the front room where we were seated lacked any sort of decor. My husband ordered the Sea Bass special and after eating a few bites, discovered it to be undercooked. It took awhile to get our servers attention, as she was overwhelmed with serving tables in multiple rooms. She graciously removed it from the bill and offered a free dessert, which we appreciated. However, we were very disappointed that management did not come over to address the issue, as both owners/managers were 20 ft. away from our table at the host stand during our entire 2 hour meal, seemingly pre-occupied with the skimpily-dressed hostess. We looked through more reviews afterwards and found other complaints of undercooked sea bass, so clearly this is an issue not being addressed. Fortunately all of our other items were very good. Neither of the owners/managers were circulating around the restaurant asking guests how their meals were, which is really a missed opportunity. We learned that new management took over in the past year and it seems that they are maintaining a hands-off approach in terms of resolving issues, providing support to staff during busy times, and making connections with their customers. We will not return.
First time at Ricks, I thought it looked like an cute, old fashion house from the outside. When I went inside it there were two dimly lit dining rooms and there was a cool tucked away bar. I ordered the stuffed ricotta chicken with rosemary potatoes and a side of vegetables. For dessert, I ordered a slice of chocolate cake layered with peanut butter. Both were delicious.
We came here for dinner with friends before going to see the premier of Cold Brook at the Aurora Theater. My boyfriend and I both ordered the seafood risotto which included big portions of lobster, scallops, shrimp, and asparagus. It was absolutely delicious. The service was exceptional. It was a cozy and friendly atmosphere. It was a cold night and so nice to have our dinner by the fireplace.
Went for lunch this week. We each ordered a salad. Both salads were awesome. We sat outside on the porch. The ambiance is great, reminded me of a Savannah mansion. Our server was great and a new waitress (her first day) was very helpful. Her name was Cassie, she was so cute and friendly, she will be an asset to this wonderful restaurant! We will definitely be back soon!
Got us right in even without a reservation. although I would highly recommend making one as we arrived around 4 and by 5 they were very busy. The food was absolutely phenomenal both my wifes fish and my steak were cooked to perfection. all ingredients seemed high end and high quality all the way around. only complaint I have is my wife and I felt like the waiter was talking down to us until after I ordered a 50 dollar steak. then his tone changed. also the hostess defiantly thought little of us as she sat us down with lunch menus at dinner time and seemed very arrogant after realizing we didnt have a reservation. other than that service, seating, and the cook were very fast and efficient. drinks were great as well! I will definatly go back and recomend to anyone!
I have to give it a one because of the wine ordeal. We ordered a 2017 Blueprint, and were given 2019 which wasnt a big deal. We decided to just ask if there was a price difference and were told the owner actually said the 2019 was much more expensive because of the supply chain issues!!!! Acting like youre doing us a favor and blaming it on the supply chain like the rest of America was absolutely ridiculous. Upon checking premier the wine was much cheaper, and they said there was no supply chain issues they knew of. Maybe the 2019 grapes took 2 years to get ready? I will say the steak was amazing
What a great experience , from the minute we walked in the door the staff was impeccable. The food was amazing and what really made the experience stand out was our service from Justin. He was attentive and very personable. His knowledge of the menu was great. We will definitely be back to Ricks On Main.
Food was delicious however, servers were not good at all.Wouldnt recommend to anyone to sit up on the top floor. Our waiter never came to check on us. He had a helper who barely brought us anything. And if we asked they forogt about us.Took my husband for his birthday,He and I was were dissappointed. When you go to a fancy expensive place you expect good dining experience and it was now a good experience.
This place was great! We found it on a whim. The food was delicious, the service was wonderful, and the decor is really cool. It is a little pricey, but it is a nice evening out and we felt that the price was justified. Will definitely be going back. Try the creme brûlée trio for dessert. Light and shareable.
Outstanding!! Our server Riceille was amazing as well! We had a last minute addition to our party, called ahead, and the staff was very accommodating. We also had one dietary restriction meal request and they were also very accommodating for a gluten free, lactose intorant vegan. They whipped him up a gluten free pasta with some olive oil, veggies, and seasoning. He loved it! The food and cocktails were all fabulous!
Reserved a table outside and was seated promptly. The staff was nice and competent besides the water never being refilled. Ordered the seafood sampler for an appetizer and the scallops particularly were great. The crab cakes were mush. The bacon wrapped shrimp were small and ok. You get only two of each. The sauces they were served with were very tasty and distinct. Too expensive for the portion size. My main dish was the lobster pasta. Where to begin lol: I asked if substituting the linguini for the default was ok and was assured it was. I got fettuccine instead. It was overcooked. Where the hell has the idea of al dente gone?? It was a mush of a dish crammed together. No sense of finesse or delicacy. No flavor. Just... limp noodles and some bits of lobster. It wasnt horrible but it wasnt good. And for the money I expect so much more. The worst part however was the table adjacent to us. One man in particular was yelling the entire time. He was there when we arrived. He was there when we left. He was loud, obnoxious and rude. He was telling explicit inappropriate jokes and cursing constantly. It ruined my and my tables experience. I asked the waitress if he was a regular and she said thankfully he usually is at the bar. Why would this establishment allow this?? Not a single staff member said ANYTHING to him. I wont be coming back here. Theres much better options and when the atmosphere is ruined by an unruly customer its even more egregious as its on the staff, manager and/or owner to at least warn then remove. Disgusting
Open table reservation was great. Didnt have to wait and the requested patio seating was perfect. Especially on that last 75 degree day in November. Now --- very attentive wait staff, seasonal cocktails and lunch menu was superb. Tomato mozzarella salad as a side was generous, took some home. Definitely recommend to out of town guests.Wishing the establishment luck with their Igloo dining options with the onset of WNY winter.
Birthday lunch with the family. Beautiful day, sat on the patio overlooking Main St. Service was prompt and polite, place was surprisingly busy for a Monday lunch time (always a good sign). We started with a nice sangria cocktail which had peach and blackberry brandy (never knew there was such a thing). Very nice and perfect for a summers day.The table was directly in the sun so we asked for a sun umbrella which was promptly brought over. I had the special, blackened cajun salmon on a Caesar salad, kids had grilled turkey clubs with fries and my wife had some salad that shes had before and loves. Food came out after about 15 minute wait. Perfect, not rushed, just what you want. Nicely presented, mine salmon was well cooked, moist inside and charred on the outside. Kids devoured their meals.Just a nice experience. Service is always top notch, the waiting staff are friendly and knowledgeable. Five stars every time I visit.
First time there. Wife has eaten here before and took me to lunch. About a 75 minute drive and it was worth it. Had the turkey and cranberry sandwich which was delicious. We also shared a black and blue salad which was so tasty, the steak was fantastic. Totally worth the money and drive. We will be back again.
First time there today. Will definitely go back. Had the turkey, bacon, sprout, cranberry mayo sandwich and it was amazing. Real carved turkey, not the sliced cold cut. Service very good. Outside dining was excellent because of all the shades areas. Wonderful experience.
Excellent! Exceptionally fresh food, beet salad was served at the perfect cold temperature, it was so fresh, beets firm and a beautiful presentation. Scallop appetizer is to die for, the rib eye steak was seasoned and cooked perfectly. In addition to being a superior cut of meat.
This was our first experience at Ricks on Main, and to be honest its out of our jurisdiction considering we are from Tonawanda. The atmosphere is the perfect blend of casual and elegant. We had a reservation and were seated immediately but the friendly hostesses, who informed us that Justin would be our sever. Little did we know that Justin would single handedly facilitate our impeccable dining experience. Dont get me wrong, the food was 2nd to none, but Justin rounded our dinner out perfectly. I started with a walnut rendition of a Manhattan that was recommended by Justin himself. For a started I had the scallop tostada which set the bar for any scallop I have from here on out. For my entree I had the seabass special, which again was fantastic. The food was exceptional, and Justin was attentive, efficient and a shear pleasure. Thank you Ricks on Main for making date night, one to remember.
The atmosphere is simply charming, very quiet and calm setting but the food is definitely worth the wait the salads are crisp and taste very fresh, the drinks are also quite good! The steaks that were ordered were cooked perfectly and had a pretty presentation! The service was also very attenative and polite. Will definitely be back again, keep up the great work!
There were 4 of us. Every single steak 🥩 way over cooked. Potatoes where raw. Salad was wet, soggy and watery. So we where offered free deserts due to no one eating there food. When our bill came they charged for deserts and food that was sent back. This used to be a wonderful restaurant. I don’t know if their chef did not come back after covid but definitely not the experience we used to have while dining. For over $300 for a party of 4 you would expect your steak to be cooked Correctly. In addition my husband and I felt nauseous after the little food we did eat there.
Talk about great food, this place offers a terrific selection of classic American dishes. The service was professional and friendly. I walked in off the street wearing my motorcycle gear. The people at Ricks welcomed me like I was a regular. Seating on the front porch provided lots of people watching entertainment. This is a higher priced restaurant that offers very good value.
The service here is always top notch. The food is good and the ambiance is pleasant, but the wait staff is always incredibly friendly and knowledgeable. They make great recommendations and are very attentive and prompt. We have been here several times under semi-casual and formal occasions and we always enjoy our experience.
Had a really delicious meal to go tonight. Easy online ordering system. Food was absolutely fantastic. Generous portions, great flavors! We had crab cake app which was really delicious as well as stuffed hot pepper dip which was also tasry. For mains, the wagyu steak special, lobster pasta, and pasta puttanesca which did not disappoint. Everything held up very well as a to-go order which is a challenge these days. Would definitely order again and look forward to an in person experience in the future!
Called between lunch and dinner hours to make same day reservations. Woman was very friendly and happy to help. Requested 6:30 with patio seating. We arrived with a table ready and available on the patio. Our waiter was very courteous and attentive. Our food was amazing!! Be prepared to spend $$ on dinner, but well worth it!I have dined on another occasion for lunch which was delicious and reasonably priced (~$15 per plate).
Best filet mignon Ive ever had. Ordered it medium well and it was cooked to perfection. Soft, moist, and absolutely delicious. Garlic mashed potatoes were mouth watering too. We had a great meal, well worth the price. Everything we ordered was prepared perfectly and well definitely be back!
The server was very nice but that is the highlight of the experience. Got the peppers appetizer which was cold. I got a sea bass that the risotto was WAY under cooked and sea bass was raw in the middle. I informed the server but was disconcerting. I don’t mind spending money on a dinner but I got robbed on a lousy meal. Will let everyone know.
It was a monday and quiet. The service was good and knowledgeable, but the reason I would go back if im being honest would be for their Gorgonzola Crusted Prime Sirloin it came with a house veg and some potatoes but I substituted asparagus and the mashed potatoes.....and while I have no idea if there was an upcharge for basically creating my own dish, I would have paid double that. It was incredible. All of it. Id like to add that the wedge salad I started with was on point as well, they make it with a bleu cheese & french dressing so it was different than a typical wedge and delicious. I may not get back for a bit ( i live about 40 minutes ) but you never know....it might be worth the drive
Our experience at Rick’s usually is exceptional, but last night to my surprise it wasn’t. For starters we didn’t receive our bread until 10 minutes after we received our soups which were basically finished by then. For the entree my fiancé had shells in his Lobster Pasta, my entree of Salmon was paired with over cooked mushy rice soggy shredded Veggies & also found a bone in my salmon which I had to take out of my mouth. Disappointed & will not be returning. Only giving 2 stars because Our server Nick was great.
Friend thought the Bloody Mary was the best they ever had. Very creatively crafted. The Beef on Weck roll-up was also highly rated by two other diners, as was the cole slaw side. I always love Ricks Chopped Salad; again, excellent. Tomato soup had wonderful fresh tomato flavor, albeit a bit spicier. Staff friendly; service just a bit slow. You cant go wrong here, in my experience.
Staff was very friendly and accommodating, food was overpriced, dont waste your time on ordering the 18 oz ribeye with garlic mashed potatoes, was very gristly and loaded with fat, should have tried the filet mignon, wife had sea bass, and enjoyed it immensely, first and last visit to this establishment.
The 3 soup sampler was a fun idea, and delicious, with a gumbo, jalapeño cheddar, and loaded baked potato as the offerings. Scallop Tostadas are out of this world delicious! Blackened Chicken Salad with black beans, roasted red and yellow peppers, corn, cheese, guacamole, lettuce, tomatoes, ABUNDANT chicken, with dressings on the side, was our other entrée for lunch, also really delicious and fresh with flavorful dressings. We just managed to fit in the dessert of a trio of creme brulees- the silky smooth chocolate was amazing! Our server was attentive, enthusiastic about the food, and busy! But he never ignored us. Superb in all ways & definitely coming back!
My husband and I held our wedding reception for 70 adults in the upstairs dining and banquet area. The format was Friday evening cocktails, passed appetizers, appetizer stations and a chafing station. Set up included cocktail tables, round and square dining tables, dance area and bar.Parking - Located on Main Street in the village of East Aurora, parking is usually at a premium. Arrangements for parking were made in advance for an adjacent lot.Decor - Simple and elegant. Tasteful Christmas decor and existing architectural improvements from recent renovations give the place a cozy and inviting feel. Most attendees were local and familiar with the establishment, but those from out of town commented on the inviting atmosphere. Technology available for music and spontaneous karaoke. Note: The building is not handicap accessible to the upstairs, but the restrooms are.Food quality - I will run out of room before I can express how delicious, abundant and varied the options were. Guests could remain seated the entire evening or graze. Presentation was elegant with choices that ranged from simple (fresh veggies) to more complex flavors for the more discriminating palette. Comments made to myself and my groom were nothing less than glowing with many commenting that they will be heading back for dinner.Drinks - Full bar service as well as waiter service available. Upscale cocktails were served with noticeable expertise.Service - Exemplary! This is where we separate the men from the boys. It goes without saying that the wait/bar staff was competent and courteous. That is what you should expect in a fine dining establishment. These individuals went above and beyond. They were efficient and accommodating. Tables were serviced and cleared quickly. Special care and attention was given to the elder and more drunk members of the party. Were it not for the uniforms, one might have thought that you were being taken care of by a family member. As a bride, who was looking forward to enjoying an evening with family and close friends, it was a great comfort to not be bothered, pestered, questioned or henpecked. Menu and set up arrangements were made directly with the owner.Cost - I read reviews and I find this a difficult area to address. What one deems expensive another may consider average. We feel that we were treated fairly and the total cost came in just slightly over estimated quote.Overall our experience not only met. but exceeded our expectations. Marrying the man of my dreams was definitely the highlight of the evening, but the owners and staff of Ricks On Main provided us with the most amazing wedding celebration.Since the nuptials, we have been in for dinner and drinks at the bar, and find it our new favorite place to drink and dine. There is a good chance we will become regulars. Stop in and look for the happiest couple in the room.

2021-10-25First time here and we will absolutely be back. Came in for a birthday steak. But the halibut special sounded so good I opted for it. Fantastic dish. The scallop tostada appetizer was delicious also. Booking an igloo reservation for winter next!

2022-06-15Is a nice place. Its very loud, even outside. If I wanted a nice quiet date night probably would chose the Roycroft over Ricks. But overall was a nice experience.

2021-10-17Fabulous dinner! Havent been and quite a while and it was so nice to try again. We always get the table that overlooks the dining room. Very private. 2022-05-12Very nice place to eat. My husband and I enjoyed their appetizers at the bar along with their drinks. The dinner was good but something that we could have made ourselves. Maybe next time well order something different. The price was a little too high but everything is now. Great waitress too.

2022-04-11Food was excellent. Service was excellent. Piped in music gave me a headache. My humble advice, after 4 PM for dinner hour, play some soft, relaxing music conducive to enjoying a good meal. Remember this Rick, money is with the older crowd, not the younger crowd. The old folks like me will find where they can relax, have a drink or two, and not have a blaring racket that they call music reverberating in their hearing aids...

2022-02-07Outstanding! Great ambiance, excellent service, and the food is incredible. The wild mushroom tortellini is quite possibly the best pasta dish I’ve ever had (I’m Italian and lived in Italy…I think that says a lot)! Everything at Rick’s has been top notch for us; we’ll definitely be back.

2021-11-161st off, our server, Justin’s hospitality was on another level. He was extremely timely, concise, and made us feel so welcome, as well as the rest of the staff. 2nd, the foooooooood. Holy moly—they were perfectly portioned, cooked like home, and the presentation was absolutely beautiful. Quite obvious that there was plenty of thought put into the entire restaurant in general. This was our 1st experience, and one of the very few impeccable dining experiences I’ve personally ever had. We appreciate your existence. Expect to see us again in the near future.

2022-02-17Had the Cowboy maple glazed ribeye. Way over priced. It was a thinner steak, cooked too much and was advertised as 24oz. Not 24oz. Not that good. For appetizer we had seafood sampler. It was over fried and not that good for $19.95 also. Not in a rush to go back. Our server was great though.
