Rincon Criollo in other cities:
I haven’t been to this spot in years. It was a go to place with my family when I was a child. When I went today I was reminded of why. 🤤🤤Their food is fresh, cooked to perfection, & the servers are friendly. My family and I shared grilled liver w. caramelized onions, buttered fish fillet, Wednesday’s Oxtail special, boiled yucca, tostones, 🍚, two servings of beans and salad. The liver was my favorite. The oxtail was succulent. And the fish delicious. (Pics were taken before everything arrived because I dug in as soon as I finished with these 3 pics)
This used to be my favorite Cuban spot and love the family tradition. However, recently the prices have gone up insanely. I understand inflation is happening but come one $24 for ropa vieja or rabo is ridiculous when it used to be $12-15. And it isnt that huge of a portion to be charging that price. How are folks in the neighborhood suppose to afford and support businesses when the prices have gone up double?
I ate here today for the first time after my graduation with a table of 12 the food was absolutely delicious and the wait staff is on point and very friendly not too expensive and very tasty and the portions are very generous they even put on a song and dance to celebrate my graduation and no one in my party even asked them to do that I thought it was very nice well be there again highly recommend for good Cuban food
Omg, was so good. Last Cuban restaurant I went to was on 69th St.On Roosevelt theyre closed now.So happy I know about this place. My aunt and uncle invited me. Theyre from Las Vegas now. My uncle is from New York he even graduated from Newtown high school lol 🤣He still remembers all the good restaurants in the hood lol 💁🏽♀️🌝The waiters were so sweet and they went above and beyond for us ☺😏👨🏻👨🏾😻
A beautiful family run business! Met Esther, a sincere hard worker who supports her community with the best Cuban sandwich in town. A great place to stop by and meet new people. Overall great atmosphere. Cant wait until they open up for dine-in! Bless you and your wonderful business. The food is absolutely amazing. New flavors and tastes in every bite and sip. 🥰🥰🥰
Didnt have Cuban in awhile so stopped by with my bro and cousin to get some meat dishes. The ox tails were pretty damn good, I snarfed those down along with the garlic chicken real quick. For sides I recommend the sweet plantains and rice w black beans to compliment the salty meats.Would definitely go for sure if the traffic and parking isnt bad. 7-8pm
Great cozy little Cuban restaurant right by Junction Boulevard on the 7 train. Get your craving for authentic Cuban food. Only draw back was when we came it was on a Monday during lunch service. There werent many tables being served and we waited close to 30 minutes before receiving our entrees. My roast pork was delicious, but my buddies steak with pepper and onions reminded me of pepper steak with onions from a fast food Chinese restaurant where the steak was way over cooked. Would try other menu items next time we go. The fruit shake was the bomb!
Authentic Cuban food - the ropa vieja is delicious and apparently a fan favorite as many people ordered it. I had the special it was steak in garlic/tomato sauce with potatoes and a side of white rice and red beans. The red beans themselves is very reminiscent of gumbo and can be a meal on its own. I will definitely be back.
I was very disappointed at tonight’s dining experience. What’s more surprising is that this place has amazing reviews which totally deceived me. I can really only speak for the seafood paella since my friend and I shared that as our main dish.1st of all, it takes an HOUR to make which they tell you ahead of time, so that’s fine since we had an appetizer (which was delicious- the only good thing here) and wine. However, when you order an hour long paella at $52 for the dish, you expect AMAZING paella. Not mediocre, not bad, but amazing! Sadly, this was the most tasteless, overcooked paella I have ever had in my life. It had NO flavor. The seafood inside was cooked dry. The lobster meat and shrimp was tough and didn’t have flavor. The scallops were soft but almost too soft as if they didn’t cook at all. Horrible ! My friend and I added salt, pepper and hot sauce onto it which we typically would never do to a restaurant made dish cuz it’s usually always flavorful, if not beyond ! This was crazy !What’s worse is that we mentioned this TWICD to the workers- one who brought it out from the kitchen and one who’s our waitress. We mentioned it in the beginning before we even really touched it. the first guy who served it to us just smiled and laughed nervously. Didn’t say or offer anything. The second time, we mentioned it to the waitress and she said “oh no !! Really ?? No one’s said that to us before... I’m so sorry” which was MUCH nicer than what the other guy did. However, she didn’t offer much at all either except for spices in the back kitchen.... seriously ?! - no refund, no half price, no dessert on the house or ANYTHING to make up for the horrible paella - and mind you, this paella was $52 dollars- RIDICULOUS for something that tastes so bad. Yes, the portion is huge and can feed 4 instead of 2, but I don’t ever wanna pay so much money for something that tasted like nothing. I don’t mind paying a lot for good food - excellent food I might add, but paying a lot for bad food and horrible customer service? No thanks.Lastly, I’m not sure why this isn’t mentioned on yelp enough but this is a CASH BASED restaurants. CASH OR AMEX only. When you charge a single item that’s over $50, how can you only accept cash and Amex ?? I’m eat at many cash based restaurants, but they’re smaller restaurants and wayyy cheaper meals, so it’s understandable that they only accept cash. We almost didn’t even have enough but it was enough to cover the check and give them a very low tip - and to be honest, that’s all this restaurant really deserved, if any at all. There are only 2 good things about this restaurant: the wine and this appetizer where they had ropa Veja and ground beef on top. The ropa veja was very good- better than other Cuban restaurants I’ve been at. And as for the wine, it’s $6-8 for a very full glass which is great. But honestly, besides those two things, this was a pretty horrible restaurant and establishment. Truly disappointed and will not be returning.
Best Cuban food in the NYC area. I moved to nyc from south Florida where you can trip and find a good cuban spot. That’s not the same story in nyc so I travel from Harlem to Queens just to eat at Rincón because hands down it’s the best Cuban food outside your grandmas kitchen. Secret tip is go there for a birthday and let them know. Great times!!!
This Rice with beans is the best it is so delicious too. One fun fact it is great to come here for a birthday party they sing have instruments and it is super funny. All you need to do is tell them once your done eating that you are celebrating a birthday and they will bring the cake and sing on your special day.The waitresses are nice polite and attentive.I highly recommend the steak
BEST TRES LECHE CAKE / CAKE in the world!Read no further, just come and order a whole cake and thats all you need. But if you need to eat, you can eat their delicious food as well.I came here for a dinner after hearing about this place for so long and it was too long overdue. I shouldve came years ago, I had the oxtail and my lady had the ropa viejo(shredded beef). We ordered the tostones, maduras, rice&beans, and the famous yucca. Everything tasted darn near perfect, although I did expect bigger portions cause I was able to finish everything.... Regardless my oxtail was fall off the bone tender and flavorful. Also I love fried plaintains and they do it right here, not greasy at all with the perfect amount of crunch. But back to the main point, TRES LECHE CAKE. This is the only restaurant in my whole life I ordered extra cake to take home.*The flan was pretty bomb too!
What an absolutely amazing dining experience. The food is delicious and authentic. The staff is so friendly and attentive that it feels like youre at home eating with family. When we asked our server about the pictures on the wall, it turns out that they are photos of her family and she was more than happy to share stories. Definitely recommend making this one of your stops if youre in New York.
My husband’s family has been coming to Rincon Criollo since the 1970’s! We celebrate our daughter’s birthday here every year. It’s our absolute favorite restaurant. The authentic Cuban food is incomparable and the people make you feel right at home. The atmosphere is always festive…you feel like you are part of this family and connected to their Cuban story. It’s an incredible legacy…still family owned…still the same recipes from back home. Gracias Rincon Criollo! Buen provecho!
Picked up a cuban sandwich & tostones with garlic sauce at Rincon Criollo last week. The cuban sandwich was crunchy and toasty, with ham, pernil, pickle, and swiss cheese inside. I especially enjoyed the crispy tostones and the fragrant garlic butter dipping sauce. It made me want to try out their other garlic dishes! The wait to make the food was about 10 minutes long after our quick check-in, so we went to check out the bustling neighborhood - its so lively every time we venture here. Parking is pretty tough in this part, so make sure to come with patience or a friend who can wait in the car.. or just take the 7 train over.Everyone was accommodating and friendly. Rincon Criolla has been in Corona for 45 years now - heres to many more decades to come!
Food was delicious, ration was big. We ordered fried fish empanizado. One ration brought two big fish fillets with two sides. Im Cuban myself and Ive been living here in NY for six months after having moved here from Miami, so you know Ill have some high standards when it comes to taste. I missed so much going out to eat Cuban food. And Rincon Criollo did not disappoint. Im drooling over here just thinking of my next culinary affair at Rincón Criollo. The soursop/guanábana in water was delicious and so refreshing on a hot day. And customer service was very good. Stop reading and just go ;)
After a few years of not eating in this restaurant, I decided to order for delivery. Filet of sole broiled was okay (I wouldn’t order it again). Black beans with rice, was very good. Ham croquettes were good. Their Cuban sandwich, was awful, they should be ashamed being that they are Cubans and to top it off, charge $10 for a six inch, dry and tasteless sandwich. Last but not least, one order of tostones (gives you 5 pieces of eatable tostones for $5). I will never eat or order from here again. I think fame got to their head and there are a lot of people that truly don’t know what excellent food is.
The beans from the Congri were really underdone but had great flavor. The fish with the garlic sauce was really lacking in salt. The guanavana was fantastic. All in all Id probably try this place one more time if I was in town again but wouldnt go out of my way to do so.
Food was delicious it is authentic Cuban Food. Ive been coming to this restaurant in all the stages of my life. Ive returned after many with fellow coworkers. I do remember it a bit bigger, I guess your perspective changes from childhood. I order the Shrimp with garlic sauce and rice with black beans, nice portions and price point.
This restaurant has been family owned for 41 yrs opened in 1976. One of the last of cuban restaurant at one time there were so many in this Queens Neighborhood. Stop by food is excellent n the staff is amazing. You will be greeted at ur tabke by the granddaughter of the original n founder of this wonderful cuban restaurant. Highly recomended.
Unfortunately the quality of the food is not the same since my last visit pre-Covid times. Before they served warm toasted bread with butter now its only cold plantain chips you could buy at an bodega. There was no special of the day as they did in the past. And our arroz Morro was dry, hard and luke warm. I hate to write this about a place i once loved. I would go again just because i am loyal. I hope the business can survive these trying times. The customer service was great per usual. The seating is well spaced and its clean.
This is THE authentic Cuban spot in Queens. Been to Miami several times and this is the only spot in New York that really creates the authentic Cuban experience. Their coconut flan is a thing of beauty and my personal favorite thing on the menu although there isn’t anything bad. Note: you will want to get a side salad because it’s really a lot of fat and grease as you would expect in any good Cuban cooking.
If your looking for a great Authentic Cuban Restaurant this is it !!! Hospitality 10 out of 10 .... food 10 out of 10 and also alot of Cuban History on the walls .... only bad this about it is the parking in the neighborhood , kinda difficult to find , who knows maybe u will get lucky 😉
My wifes favorite place for the oxtail, which is a delicious dish. I normally ask for the fried breaded fish. The lemonades is natural here which is something we normally drink. The best thing here is the attention and the birthday show you get once requested. That is also a service but it is worthy. The restaurant is decorated with many iconic artifact from Cuba and all latin America.
The best Cuban restaurant in NYC. Next time you are in Corona stop by and try the ropa vieja, croquetas, Ravi encendido and enjoy the music and if the restaurants are allowed inside dining enjoy the the photo displays on the walls. Lots of beautiful memories from a time gone by but beautifully captured in the photographs.
Top notch Cuban food prepared as if you were at a Cuban friends moms house! I have been going to this family style restaurant for about 30 years (or it feels like it)... never left unhappy or disappointed. This is where I want to go for my birthday. I drove over 100 miles to eat there with my parents and kids. Did I mention that the $60 gas and tolls are with it? Food and drinks are a bargain for what you get.
Food was incredible. Servers are extremely attentive. Lechon tasted like my grandmas. Red beans had the perfect texture and taste. The white rice was fresh and flacky not lumpy or pasty. In short this place is fine aged recipes in a humble environment that doesnt expect too much from you except that you enjoy. Very reasonably priced, so do right on the tips.
Fantastic authentic Cuban cuisine. The waitstaff is prompt and friendly. The menu has a variety of dishes and specials of the day.The portions are filling and were delivered individually. (I combined mine to the single large plate that was also brought to the table). They only take AmEx cards, otherwise you need cash. There is an ATM right next to the front door once inside.Definitely a keeper!
Great place, Great food, great service. We come here all the time!! Good prices to. We actually travel all the way to queens at least 3 times a month to go to this restaurant we are about 1hr 15mins away. It’s my absolute favorite. They serve a really good garlic mojo. Their fish, chicken and steaks are really good. The people there are really really nice. Been going here for at least 5 years now and haven’t found a Cuban restaurant to top this one.
I had high hopes for a great Cuban meal but boy was I diappointed. This has been my familys go to Cuban restaurant for decades. The atmosphere was chaotic and stressful. The service was poor--I was not brought a glass of water or asked if I wanted a drink for over 30 minutes as I waited for a friend. Once my friend arrived we asked three times for bread before it was finally brought to our table. The food was served cold and my entree was so salty it was barely edible. Too bad our recent experience was so poor. This had always been a gem.
Don’t waste your hard earned money here. Why would a business only accept American Express and not visa, discover, or master card? Amex charges the most to swipe there cards?I ordered a pulled flank steak dish As recommended by the employees. It came out very fast and was very underwhelming. The portion were EXTREMELY small and bland. The plantains had fruit FLYS attacking them as well as the rice and beans....all for the great low price of $18.I heard from people in the area that it’s not the same as it used to be but I had to see it for myself with all of the good reviews. Terrible...I will not be back. I will say one positive thing. The waiters were very polite and attentive.
The ambiance is very Cuban in the nature. The service is okayThe sangria was not very good, but maybe that dayThe ropa vieja Is very tasty and had the right quantityThe shrimp cocktail was of poor quality, dont orderOverall the Cuban food was good and will be coming here again :)
I come to this Cuban restaurant every month. I discovered it on a website & app originally known for researching restaurants. I was seeking a Cuban restaurant in Jackson Heights as an alternative to the ones in Manhattan. The staff-all-male-is attentive & polite. The restaurant has a family feel. The cuisine is traditionally Cuban. What I also like about this restaurant is that the cuisine is exclusively Cuban & it’s not the least commercial.Rincon Criollo only accepts cash & American Express.
Love visiting this spot. Service is always amazing. They really do have a great staff who look like they enjoy where they work. Ive been here three times so far in the span of three years, food has been amazing each time. The food is very reasonably priced. Its a low key spot with great ambiance. This place can get packed and people are willing to wait, just as an FYI. Enjoy.
One of the best if not the best Cuban places to get some homemade food in Queens, or even NYC. This little gem is tucked away along a strip ion junction Blvd. Parking is hard to find but it is worth it if you do. Food is very flavorful and always cooked to perfection. I have visiting this place since i was about 10 so I have about 20 years experience. Through the week you will find the specials of the day and it changes daily so not everything they have is available every single day. Always fresh as well.If your in Queens looking for a delicious bite to eat stroll through for a delight.
Outstanding service! Felt like home as soon as I walked in. Came in on Friday afternoon around 530, the place was not busy. I wasnt sure if their bar was open for a drink and a to-go order and the hostess or manager kindly offered me to take a seat a table. I ordered and my drinks and food where served on a timely manner, both hostess and the server asked hie everthing was....I admit to feeling a little VIP haha. It was great!! I ordered an appetizer which the server offered (was not on the menu!) Tostones with ropa vieja and carne estilo bocadillo...ground meat and olives... soooo goooddd....ordered a tempranillo (red wine) yo open my appetite and a Hatuey (cuban style ale, beer) to eat! Hint...please order the smoked pork chops....you wont regret it!!!
Best Cuban food ever. Portions are huge, Quality is shockingly good compare it to the best. We had the Sangria which was amazing..not syrupy sweet or watered down with ice. Everything comes with two amazing sides. We had Tostones with Rope Vieja (it wasnt even on the menu. They brought it because my wife was craving it), Oxtail Stew (easily the most flavorful of all), Broiled Chicken with garlic which were just amazing. Sides are works of wonder. We had beans and rice, Tostones and Yuca.
The food is good. The entrees, especially the seafood entrees are very expensive. The Cuban sandwich was really good. I like their appetizers. The chorizos are good. I like the ham croquettes and the stuffed cassata. The pepper steak and fried pork are delicious. Service is very good. The prices other than the seafood is moderate.
Disappointed with the arroz con pollo. I went with high hopes after seeing it on DDD: the way Guy raved about it, I had to have it. My feelings were hurt after the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd bite. I was hoping it would get better but it was just more of the same....BLAND! I called the waiter for salt, pepper and some hot sauce, nothing made it better. The chicken that was cooked in it was not preseasoned and tasted overcooked.I got the big pot and only had about 7 spoonfuls before throwing in the towel.I thought I could go home and revamp it but its still sitting there in my fridge. The ropa vei ja is also still in the fridge. The husband said that it was just okay, nothing special, that he couldnt have gotten from me.The kicker is: he was mad we spent $50 on something we didnt enjoy while we passed restaurants and street food that would have cost half of that 😑.
The food here is tasty. I am not Cuban and never been there but I here that coming to this spot will take you right there. I can’t say that I’ve had anything bad to eat here. My favorite is a Cuban sandwich along with the chicken that has a garlic mojito served with rice or yuca, delish
My family is been going to that restaurante for decades. Me I go several times a year since I came from Cuba in 1995. I am a Cuban and can tell you this is by far the best cuban food in New York. It tastes as if you are in Cuba. Best tostones, best oxtail stew, best pan con lechon, best black beans soup outside of Cuba. A proof of that is the pictures on the wall with cuban celebrities that visit often. It has diminished a little the quality of the service since the original owner passed away but the food still the best and it is a place worth spending time with your family. Some of the side dishes like the white rice can be small thats because it is a first class restaurant so all you need to do is ask for an extra one, what is it 2 dollars? For heavens sake, it is really unexpensive food. Try the buñuelos for desert with a cuban coffee.
This a longstanding favorite. The food is great and the staff is superb, friendly and professional. We always share as the portions are very generous. I usually have a caldo gallego and then a main dish. My only hesitation in visiting this great local restaurant is the parking.
Just moved to the neighborhood & went here for dinner with mom & boyfriend. Everything on the menu sounded so yummy. We each got something different (fried pork, steak & onions, & shrimp scampi) with all the fixings (rice & beans, tostones, & boiled yuca). Everything came out amazing. Definitely coming back for more.
Rincón criollo Havana in the middle of Roosevelt Avenue. The food is tasty. The beens and rice are sooooo good steak. Sangria is great. I will recommend to go here for steaks on other traditional Cuban food. If you are a seafood lover do not try it here not the best. Service is great they will recommend on the best plates to get. The decorations is great you will forget that you are on Roosevelt Avenue
Horrible customer service. They cancelled entire order by mistake meaning to only cancel an item. Only found out after waiting so long and wound up calling them. They then went as far as telling me it was me who cancelled order and to place again. I said I wouldn’t and that I would not be ordering again his response was “Good”. No food for me from them tonight but they get a star from me because I don’t have an option to give them zero stars
Hands down!! Rincon Criollo is the best Cuban Restaurant so far!!! Not even Havana Central or Cafe Havana can compare with the excellent service and delicious food you get here. For some reason they have the Food Network stamp. You will never regret visiting this place!
Great Cuban place, probably the best one Ive visited in the city. Grew up in Miami so eating Cuban food was a normal day either at a restaurant or a friends house. This place tastes like Im at someone house and the portions are huge. The bistec empanizado with Yuca is so good. I would come here to eat that every day if I could.
I used to eat in El Rincon Criollo 23 years ago relocate to New Jersey then to Georgia came back to visit NY and revisit the restaurant and the food still excellent as the last time I ate there 23 years ago. Love the food and the service will visit every time I stop in NYC.
Being born in a taxi cab in New York City and my mother from Puerto Rico and my father from oriente Cuba. My mother lived for a couple of years in Cuba and was one hell of a cook. Ive been coming here for 25 years and it is the closest thing to my mothers superb cooking I love it! The food and the service is outstanding believe me you wont be sorry!
You will not be disappointed. If you dont mind the parking issue, or dont mind taking the train, this place is a great little gem.The restaurant is kind of small but very cozy. Its a good place to come with friends and family. If its your birthday, its even better. I came here with my BF for dinner and we were able to experience how they celebrate birthdays (it was another customers birthday). They turn the lights off, there is a disco ball on, lots of joy and singing and all the other customers are clapping as well! The food here is also really good. I had to ropa vieja. The entrees come with 2 sides. So I ordered the rice and beans, and the boiled yuca in garlic sauce. Although the yuca was a bit dry, the sauce made it tasty. The rice and beans, you can never go wrong with rice and beans. The ropa vieja was tender and full of flavor. The dish looks small but it was enough to fill me and my bfs stomachMy boyfriend ordered the oxtail and he enjoyed it! He said it was very tender and falls right off the bone. He ordered tostones and Maduras as his sides. The tostones were one of the best Ive had. The maduras was sweet and tasted like a dessert. For dessert, we had tres leches cake and flan. My bf isnt a fan of flan but he really enjoyed it here! I love flan and this really was THAT good. Their tres leches cake mmmmm you cannot miss out. Their desserts were so good, we ended up ordering another order of the desserts separately! To top it off, the servers here are all polite and nice.
We took my Mom to Rincon Criollo for dinner after a wonderful birthday trip to Spa Castle. As Cubans, we are skeptical when we see Authentic Cuban food posted. Rincon Criollo is Cubanisimo!!! We loved EVERYTHING about this restaurant. Personal point:My father passed away 38 days ago so this was a difficult day to celebrate. My parents were married for 46 years. This is her 1st birthday w/o her soulmate. Our waiter sang & danced his heart out and a nice couple in the restaurant purchased flowers for my mom. She was soooo happy. We will never forget this day! Thank you for the Gordon family 🙏
This is the best Cuban restaurant in Queens. As a child I went with my parents some 30 years ago and its only gotten better. Im going again next week to celebrate with my co-worker. Everything on the menu is great from the appetizers to main course. The Arroz con pollo is my favorite but since its made fresh you have to wait 45 minute but it so worth it. I often call ahead and order the arroz con pollo so by the time I arrive its only a 10 minute wait. Another of our favorite are the Cuban black beans, I order them every time. This is by far the most delicious home cooked comfort meals because that what it taste like to me. They get Five Stars ***** in my book.
Delicious affordable Cuban food. The oxtail stew, vaca frita, yuca con mojo, tostones, are stellar. Skip the desserts-- you can get better elsewhere, even at the bakery directly next door. If theres a birthday, the server will bust out the big guns to make sure theres a smile on the birthday persons face. Service is fast. Food is fast. Nothing about Rincon Criollo is fancy n free, but everything is fantastic n fun.
This is a place for true nyc hispanic legends only. OGs working the tables been here since the 60s probs low key veterans. The toasted bread, the coffee, the dulce de leche cortado it’s just pure Caribbean Umami. If you eat here you become 1% Cuban instantly. Been coming here since 95’
Was looking for some great Cuban food and found it in my backyard! I miss the palomilla steak sandwiches I had when I was in Florida. They have a good steak sandwich but not quite what I remembered. I have to go back and try the Cuban sandwich, but I dont recall it being pressed when it came out.Their ropa veja is very tasty as well as the oxtail. Love the fried Yucca, but fried starch is always good!
I absolutely love this place, waited for an hour once and was not disappointed. This is real deal cuban food, expect to get a nice heap of food. I like to compare my cuban spots by their ropa vieja-- theres had a bit too much tomato for my taste but still delicious. Their other plates were just as satisfying -- bistec, rotisserie chickens, yuca fries; my my. Im usually so stuffed that I cant eat anymore, but in their case you have to get the coconut flan. Its not so sweet that you get a cavity, its almost light (and you feel a little better about yourself cause its got coconut).
Came here last week for my birthday dinner with my family. Everything we had to eat was really good. My niece had the fish soup, my sister the whole red snapper, my brother in law and I had the ropa vieja and my other sister had the Gallican soup and oxtail. I dont recommend the sangria at all, its just house red wine with a piece of orange and a cherry in your cup (no fruit, brandy or juice in the pitcher). Other than that, a good experience. The service was good and prompt.
Visited March 8th, with my Son and Daughter-In-Law around Lunchtime. The service was very courteous, friendly, but most of all every dish we bought, appetizers, entrees, desserts were all off the chain. We plan on visiting again soon. And if its your birthday, they have a celebration for you that is also off the chain, person in costumer, Disco-Ball lighting, music, and all the patrons get caught up in it too, a lot of fun. Do yourself a favor and get your tush over to Rincon Criollo. You wont be dispappointed.
Theres quite a homey feel to the restaurant and very cozy inside. The walls are decorated with wooden plaques of Latin countries and historical motif. The food is classic stick to your ribs home cooking. We started with the grilled sausages that were flavorful and a good starter. Each main course comes with two sides. The rice with black beans side was called Moros y Cristianos which was an interesting name. The Tostones were freshly prepared and really good. The boiled Yuca was cooked in a very tasty garlic sauce. However, the yuca itself was a bit fibrous. For the main dish, I had the Ox Tails which were in a tomato based stew that was falling off the bone. The other dish we tried was the Shrimp Scampi that was baked in with a garlic butter sauce that was perfect in drizzling over the rice as well when eating. They have a very loud recording of a Happy Birthday song when you go and request that one of your party is celebrating a birthday there. Its quite fun and embarrassing if you werent expecting it.I definitely have to come back and try other dishes on the menu.
I stopped by here and ordered the ropa vieja for lunch since this was this restaurants signature meal. I dislike when I order food to go and they store everything in separate bowls, just my little pet peeve. I ordered the rice and beans and recieved the rice and black beans separately. I also received a big piece of hero bread with the meal. The food itself was good, but not ooooh I have to come back especialy for $16 for lunch. Granted, I did have leftovers that will also be dinner. I would return if I am in the neighborhood to try other items but more importantly sit down to enjoy the experience a little more.
Will always be our go to place when we visit family in Queens. Wish we lived closer. Husband and his grandma always order the bistek I’m partial to the vaca frita. The staff is incredibly friendly and welcoming every time we are in there and always playing around with our daughter ☺️tried to attach a video of her inhaling avocado
Omg! Everything we ordered was delicious!😋 The service was excellent! Definitely going again. I totally recommend this place. 😋 #batidadeguanabana #materva #boliche #bistecempanizado #yucaconmojo #maduros #bistecencebollado #congri #flandecalabaza #guayabaconqueso #cubanfood #cubanfoodonpoint #queens #coronaqueens
My party of 15 invaded the place for a not-so-small reunion during dinner on a weekday. It is a small homely spot and super lively. We are here for the infamous paella and we got not one but two! In order to enjoy the paella, you will need to call ahead of time on the same day.We started with red wine sangria - refreshing, fruity, and the best drink to accompany any Spanish meal. Lets keep that pouring! Various of sides started to pour in such as their sweet plantains, tostones, and rice and beans. Tostones was my absolute favorite side of the evening. They were so smash into big pieces and the texture was just the perfect crunchy and soft in the middle. My companion and I shared the Oxtail dish together. The oxtail meat was so tender and falls off the bones effortlessly. The sauce is tomato based and filled with various spices. Since it was a big dish, I saved a big piece to go with white rice the next day.Seafood and Meat Paella made a grand entrance to our table. The pot was a lot bigger than what I imagined, not to mention how deep the pot is. After our server lifted the lid, the smell of seafood and saffron hit my nose leading to my mouth watering. (I hope no one saw that!) I see lobster, clams, mussels, shrimp, scallop, and chicken, all in there! Flavors of the paella was amazing! I did wish that the texture of the rice was mushy like it was but other than that, it was muy bien (very good)! To my surprise, this spot is a great host for dinner parties for it has a very lively atmosphere. If you have a birthday boy/girl, a staff member will wear a funny hat and glasses dancing to loud, exciting music while bringing a plate of dessert to them! It was very entertaining and I already figured out who I want to surprise! So watch out!
Rincon Criollo is the best Cuban restaurant in New York, with authentic food and great service, a perfect place to bring your family and friends. The waiters are very good at taking care of your every need and even sing on your birthday or anniversary. The chicharron de pollo is amazing, tender and full of flavor. The plantanos and beans were also excellent. Cafe con leche is superb. Would definitely recommend if youre hungering for really good food.
We weren’t there 5 mins and they rushed us to order , the food was microwaved we haven’t had our drinks served yet waiter kept looking at us like if they wanted to rush us out and there was a white family in the table next to us and they were served bread they were served water they’re food was prepared and presentable and our food looked like it was thrown on our plates then to top it off one of the waiters came and sarcastically said that we looked hungry and my mother said no i feel rushed over all everyone was getting the attention they deserved but our table wasn’t this was one of the worst experiences ever and felt very racist to us on how they were treating us mind u they kept looking at me secretly joking about my gender (Transwoman) I will never step foot in there again
I had a surprise birthday here and it was pretty wild. Guy comes out in costume and sings a ridiculous song while the whole place is in disco lights. The food is so delicious. Get a side of maduros, ropa vieja, chicharron de pollo, flan for dessert. Oh my, major food coma.
Coming here for 25 years of amazing authentic Cuban food and great service. For all these years not ONCE have I been dissapointed. If you cant go and eat in Cuba Rincon Criollo is the next best thing no passport needed. The waiters/food/traditional little spot I think there is a Cuban grandmother cooking all that delicious food.Parking is a bit difficult , but its worth it ❤

2022-03-26The service at this longstanding Cuban restaurant is good. The prices are reasonable. The food is good but not to the same level as it was many years ago. Also they only offer Sangria , Wine and Beer, as far as alcohol is concerned. It is still a good place to go with family and friends.

2022-05-23Great friendly service. Was in and out in 45 minutes. The food came out within 10-15 mins of ordering and it was nice and hot! The taste and vibe inside feels so authentic and homemade. Esther is such a great host as well as the full team taking care of the restaurant. Everything was amazing from the Maracuya smoothie, cappuccino, their famous ropa vieja to their sweet and soft maduros. 10/10. Came 10 years ago and back for the first time and the food tasted exactly the same. Such a beautiful blast from the past 😋

2021-10-16Cute Cuban restaurant! This was my first visit to Rincon Criollo. I came here to try their Cuban sandwich which was extremely delicious. The pork was seasoned to perfection. The ham was good as well. The staff is wonderful. The restaurant is family-owned by twin brothers and has been in business for over 44 years. Guy Fieri has put his stamp and signature on the wall after visiting and eating the ropa vieja dish. Nice restaurant so if you are looking for some good Cuban food, stop by and pay them a visit.

2021-12-24An absolutely spectacular meal and service. Highly recommend the house staples - Ropa Vieja and the pork, and definitely have the plantain and the red beans. Deserts are great too- we didn’t even have time to take photos! We were ready to lick the plates!

2022-02-17This by far is the closest thing to authentic Cuban food in NY! The food is scrumptious and the staff there is what really makes it amazing because when you are there you feel like you are surrounded by family! When I first came here to NY from Cuba, Rincón Criollo was the first Cuban restaurant my family took me to as a child. It’s been a love affair for 42 years there after! 🇨🇺🍹🥘💪🏻

2022-01-18Apparently Guy Fiery dined here. This Cuban restaurant was highly recommended by my friend who lived in Queens. The dining experience didn’t disappoint. Food was authentic, vibe was low key and service was attentive. We ordered tortillas, chorizo, pulled beef, pulled chicken and rice and beans - all delicious.

2022-04-09I’m so glad this place did not shut down because of the pandemic. Truly a gem of a Cuban spot. I’ve been coming here since I was about 16 years old (i’m 22 now) and the food leaves me so satisfied. I love the vintage look of the place, just makes it feel like Cuba. Really recommend!!
