Amazing every time! Definitely recommend. Both family friendly or great to watch a sports game at the full service bar!
This used to be a favorite of friends and family years ago. Not sure if it’s under new ownership…I placed an order from their online menu. Price is $15.99. I asked for bread and extra cheese on the side. When I picked up order it was $23.89 which I thought was high for bread and cheese but fine. When I got home there was no bread or cheese so I called restaurant. They told me the price is really $21.99 not $15.99. I said but online that’s what it shows and they need to honor that. I was stating my rights and the girl hung up on me! When I called back and asked her if she hung up on me she said said she did! On top of it all, the food wasn’t that good. The sauce was average at best and the “homemade” pasta was definitely boxed. So, in conclusion, they are rude, they falsely advertise the quality of the food and their prices are bogus.I would make reservations at another restaurant.
Food is out of this world...yum! Its not just Portuguese food, they have Italian food too. And they frequently have a Groupon!!!

Food was very good, desserts - not that good. Dont order tea here, they brought us cheap chamomile tea without asking which tea we wanted, and it cost 3.50. In general, the place is on the expensive side, but entrees are good.
OMG, what fresh food. No cardboard taste. Excellent service, accomadating to needs, clean, fun, music. Relaxed atmosphere yet attentive. Again the food is unbelievable especially the fish. Just what we needed.

Both a restaurant and catering facility. We ate in the restaurant which is In the bar area. Had quite a beery smell. Waitress was covering a lot of territory, serving food to bar patrons and tables but she was gracious and accomadating. Food was good, fish wonderfully cooked.Parking can be difficult.

Clam sampler is a must try. I ordered the veal chop. Must veal i ever had. First time having veal on the bone. Def worth it. Parking is small but food is amazing.
This was our second time at this wonderful restaurant. Food is so good. However, we were the only people there on a Friday night and felt rushed. We were still eating our appetizers and our dinner was brought out. To me, that is unacceptable. Unfortunately, because of that, we will probably never come back. Truly a shame because the food is really good but if Im coming out after a long week of work and looking to relax, not the place to be.
The service was excellent and the food was phenomena . We had the seafood paella and rigatoni Ala vodka. The dishes tasted like they came from a 5 star restaurant which this most definitely is. Youd never know it by its location, but was pleasantly surprised. The ala vodka tasted better than any Italian restaurant around. portions are huge. will be back again
Was a delicious meal from appetizers to wine to main courses. We were served by the owner and treated as if we were friends. Great environment, atmosphere, service, and food.The menu was very large with all the specials. I finally decided on the sea bass. It was grilled perfectly. As well the octopus appetizer was tender and delicious.
We were here with a group of four tonight. At first it was very welcoming - the drinks were good, bread was brought out, and our waitress seemed friendly and came over to check on us a few times. The food was great, but everything went downhill once we were done and our food was wrapped up.- The only thing wrong during the meal was an absolutely insane amount of bugs. We were batting them away from us the entire meal and watching them crawl around the table. Luckily they werent interested in our food; we think it was the lime and lemon slices in the water and other drinks. The bugs alone were enough to give us a second thought about eating there again, but we probably would have in a colder month if the rest of the list wasnt here:- Our once-helpful waitress disappeared. We were ready for our check, but we couldnt find her. After almost twenty minutes, we had to ask someone for the check, and once it was dropped off, we waited another near-twenty minutes until once of us had to get up to ask to pay.- I went up with the staff member to register my Groupon on my phone. She took a picture of the Groupon on my phone with her phone, but in the process, dropped her phone on my phone! Luckily I had a steady grip, and only her phone dropped on the floor. She said Sorry, my hands are full of grease! which made me very glad I hadnt handed my phone to her.- We instructed them to put $20 on one card and $50 on another card. Somehow $25.02 was put on one card and $50 on the other. How do you mistype by $5.02? We took it off the tip so it evened out, and the only reason we didnt send the bill back was because we were now very late to get home.After all this, we were ~45 minutes past the time we were ready to leave, because the staff was SO unhelpful. Through all this, our original waitress was still nowhere to be seen. If the staff was nicer and bugs were taken care of, wed recommend this place. But to have a waitress disappear and then the other staff have no interest in providing service... well never go here again, and will strongly discourage our friends and relatives from going here.
Without a doubt, one of the worst restaurants I have ever been in. Outside looks like a condemned building. Inside, not much better. Cold stale food. No heat so you have to keep your coat on. This place would be a dive even in a third world country. We left three quarters of her food uneaten. It was SO bad. RUN from this place.
A gem of a hidden restaurant! Clean, friendly, professional! Outstanding unique menu, great prices, large portions! The food is literally music to the mouth! I highly recommend just trying it out once... it will instantly become a favorite!
After seeing many reviews rating this place highly and finding a deal on groupon I decided to give it a shot. Nowhere on the groupon or site did it say that an appetizer and two entrees had to be purchased to use it, nonetheless we stayed because it was nasty out and we didnt want to drive around aimlessly. The appetizer was good, found a hair in the first one so they remade it. We had the calamari but the entrees were a whole different situation, we had the paella and the risotto, we had a few bites, and long story short, we wouldnt go there again. Only reason I gave it 2 stars is because the server was nice.
Probably one of my favorite Portuguese restaurants,such a beautiful and spacious restaurant. They have available different areas to have private events and the staff and food are amazing.I highly recommend Rio Douro Bistro. They definitely have great food.
Place is phenomenal. Looks like nothing special on the outside but this place is truly a gem that will knock your socks off! Their signature pasta dish w/ sausage, shrimp & ham is rich & delicious; the frutti di mare is full of seafood with plenty of fresh garlic. The risotto is amazing and the baked clams sampler is out of this world (casino & oreganata). Menu offers huge selection and portions are great. This is by far one of my favorite restaurants.

Excellent service, food and prices. The food is superb and the portions are good enough for sharing (or for lunch the next day). The wine menu is decently priced.Try the alvarinho wine. Youll thank me later.

This is a rarity in Suffolk county, an authentic ethnic (its Portuguese, not Italian btw) restaurant that is both a respectable place to sit and eat and also home to a deft and skillful kitchen. I feel confident being adventurous here; the codfish fritters were amazingly light and perfectly seasononed and fried. The collard and potato soup seems so simple at first, then the olive oil flavor catches up to you and it becomes an addiction that you cant satisfy until most of it is gone from the supersized crock it comes in.Ill say it here for all you Long Island people who live (and eventually die) by these four words: They Have Big Portions. Bon appetit, gluttons.

Every dish was beyond expectation! Walnut Beet Salad, Calamari Calabrese, Fresh Mozzarella to start. Fettucini, Chicken Sinatra, and a Tri Tip Steak all shared between 5 people and still more to bring home.

2022-04-03This place is a Bar that has great food! Portuguese and Italian cuisine. The dishes are well presented. There is also a separate private room for parties. Parking on the street is available and there is a small parking lot in the back. Finding the entrance is a bit confusing. They are a little short staffed so you could be waiting long for your server especially on the weekends. Moderately clean facilities. Reasonably priced. Credit cards accepted. Nice staff. We will most likely be going back.

2021-11-01In laws brought the family to this restaurant today for the first time, the restaurant was spacious and very clean. The food was very delicious and well cooked. Customer service was on point, the food and drinks and appetizers were ordered at the same time and shortly after everything had arrived. We had lots of food from sea food to steak and spaghetti. Definitely recommend the restaurant.dessert and coffee at the end was the icing on the cake.

2021-10-30Great food. Seriously the food is delicious. The portuguese steak is my absolute favorite and the brown gravy is like liquid gold. Love the fact that they offers a nice variety of portuguese and Italian food. Wife and daughter love seafood and they have no shortage of that. Staff is great we where there over 2 hours and never once felt rushed to get up and go. 5 stars all day..Trying to add a photo here but the app will not allow it..

2021-09-09I or order 2 appetizers.. clam Portuguese style and tower of pisa.. both taste ok.. tower of Pisa have only 1 small portobello mushroom and lot of mozzarella n onions.. and the clam.. lot of medium neck clams little tough to chew..
