Thank you RiseNY for an exhilarating experience!. The Boys & Girls club of Poughkeepsie members’ enjoyed every second of the interactive museum and ride.We are excited about our second visit with our new group in April. Thank you Renee for making this happen, it was a pleasure to work with you!
Went today with my husband and children. We spent 2 hours there, 1 1/2 hours waiting to get on the ride. The museum was beautiful, very creative and so NY!!! When we were about to get on the ride, the worker said “everyone get in the second and third row, families stick together”. Me and my family stood together but not in the same row, the attendant was so rude to say “I said families stick together”, I responded saying “we are together, you never said stay in the same row.” The rude worker was just the icing on the cake to a horrible experience. The ride was cool, but it didn’t make up for the long wait and rude workers. As a New Yorker I am definitely disappointed!! Probably only a good experience with VIP tickets. I wish I would have known.
What an amazing grand finale to our time in NYC! It wasn’t on our radar to visit, but saw it on television and decided to give it a try. From the start, you are entertained in proper New York style. The whole experience was so informative yet concise. We got delicious popcorn while watching some movie highlights. The highlight was the 4D experience at the end - totally magnificent! I would definitely recommend visiting this attraction, even after visiting all the observation decks and other attractions. I would not recommend taking toddlers that might be scared by loud sounds. Staff were very friendly and entertaining.
I was initially very underwhelmed with the first show, then you go through the museum which is absolutely amazing. If this dosnt verify the fact that New York City is the capital of the world…idk what will. Then after you walk through and read about the history you are taken on a “new years” ride which was the absolute coolest thing ever. This whole exhibit is the definition of IMMERSIVE. well done.
We recently went to Rise, there were 2 children, 3 adults and one young adult. We are all New Yorkers. We thought the exhibit was great. We loved reading all about the history of NY and the adults were able to see many memories from our past. It was not what we originally thought it would be which was more of a ride and less of a museum. There was a simulated ride at the very end. Although we enjoyed the simulation, seeing the city from high above and even experiencing different weather, the only feedback we all had was there was no commentary while on the simulation. We have lived in NYC our whole lives, so we knew what everything (mostly) was. For a non-New Yorker, it would help to know what you are looking at while you fly high above the city. Overall we enjoyed the experience, it was easy to follow and at one point we were the only people at that designated time. If visiting NYC, definitely check it out.
Overall, this was a fun, interesting place. The opening video was really good, giving a brief overview of NYC history from the opening of the subway to the present. The exhibits were nice and fairly well done, but I wish there was more. The lead up to the ride was kind of cheesy, but it was fun, with some exciting moments. That said, I expected the flight through NYC to be a bit slower to kind of explore the city more. It transitioned from one scene to another very quickly, which was a bit disorienting. I had barely settled into one view before transitioning to another. I did not sit and watch every video, but I read everything on the walls and took some pictures. From entry to exit it was one hour. I kind of expected more. Am I glad I did it? Yes. Would I do it again? Only if it was expanded.
Great place to take visiting friends and family or for any New Yorker who loves learning more about our great and resilient city. Ride is not as long as we would have liked but the walk through museum is fabulous and well done. We would recommend! Truly an exhilarating and memorable experience!!
I loved this exhibit. Its the best value in Times Square - $20-something keeps you busy for 1-2 hours. My family and I spent 1.5 hours here. My grandmother has lived in NY all her life, and she still loved this exhibit and learned new things about the city shes always called home! The ride was really fun. It really feels like youre flying through the city. Theres a lot of history to read about throughout the various exhibits, but there are also fun videos interspersed for those who dont want to read as much. Highly recommend, for New Yorkers and tourists. I thought this was a temporary exhibit, but its permanent!
A bit confusing at first until you realize the ride is at the end. It was fun experiencing a subway ride and learning about its history. The stroll through exhibits that highlight various contributions to the world by NYC was very interesting. The ride itself was definitely worth it even though I was holding on to the handles given that mind thought I was going to fall.
Totally worth the price. The museum part was interesting however the main soaring part was 👏 awesome! This is a must ride ( keep your eyes open at all times to experience the thrill .) we entered around 6:50 pm and out around 8:00. Didn’t spend much time reading the information on museum walls because of my 7 yr old but if you want to read each and everything then definitely will take longer. I don’t like elevators, so I didn’t get on the show themed on elevator (back then.) but my son said that was interesting too. Enjoy !!
Without hesitation this is a five star experience, long enough to feel worthwhile but not so short that you feel cheated. The ride itself is not intense so can be enjoyed by all family members/age ranges. The experience itself is very engaging with a fun storyline to add to the experience.I would recommend this without hesitation.
Sooooo cool. Thinking of something to do in the city with the family? This is it. Museum+ 5 min immersive ride at the end. Similar to Soaring in Disneyworld. Highly recommended!! The museum is rich with so much of NYC’s history, and they will be adding more to the exhibits by Spring/Summer. They have been open for 3 weeks for previews. Don’t want to spoil too much by sharing any more pics. Another cool aspect about this museum is you can take pictures of yourself sitting on the sets of some famous television shows. My absolute favorite was the black and white set of the Honeymooners. I wish I had dressed up in 50-60’s gear. Expect to spend about an hour or as long as you see fit to take it all in. Thank me later!
We were blown away by the quality and production value of the entire thing. The staff was incredibly friendly, the exhibits were state of the art and the ride was the quality of soarin at Disney! We honestly couldnt think of a better way to spend an hour for a visiting tourist!
This is by far the best activity of the entire trip! Well done to the people who designed this experience. No expense was spared. It was the perfect last activity on our last day in New York! Summed up our entire experience in a truly wow way. I didnt even get a chance to take pictures!
How is there not a huge line wrapped around the block for this place???? Hands down our absolute favorite part of the long weekend. A very interesting little museum that ends with a simulation flight over the city. Its very similar to the avatar Disney ride but still ok for small children. My 3yo loved it as much as the rest of us. We were not rushed, it wasnt crowded, staff is great. There is something for everyone: history, architecture, radio and TV, music, fashion, theater. LOTS of really neat items in their collection and each exhibit is truly unique and well thought out. Close to other times square attractions. Definitely a must do!
The RiseNY experience was much more fun, educational, and engaging than I anticipated! The “museum” has some interactive components that bring the experience to life. My favorite part is the flight simulator. I have been to NYC on numerous occasions in my adult life yet I’ve seen very little of the City. RiseNY offers aerial views of SO. MANY. PLACES. and has some fun special effects. It is well-choreographed and moving. I teared up a couple times, probably because I love this city so dang much. 10/10 I would do this again!
Such a unique experience. I highly recommend whether youre visiting NYC for the first time or if youve lived here your entire life. Anyone who loves New York will enjoy the experience here and the ride at the end is truly so cool and one of a kind. Definitely worth a visit.
I was part of a group of 5, including my husband and adult kids, who went to RiseNY on a Saturday late afternoon around 5:30 pm. Overall, the content of RiseNY was very interesting and appealing. We liked the Ric Burns film and the exhibit. But, we did not appreciate a wait of over 45 minutes to take the ride which was one of the most enticing aspects of the entire experience. We had dinner reservations which we almost had to cancel since we had budgeted 90 minutes and it was more like two hours. It is important to let people know how long the wait will be and to offer some kind of alternative to just hanging around. That said, the ride itself was exhilirating!
I got one of those GoCity passes to do a few touristy things while in New York last month and ended up switching the final attraction I had planned with this one last minute. So glad I did! It was a terrific experience. Staff was super friendly and helpful. RiseNY seriously had everything! The history of New York, thoughtful exhibits that highlight industry and culture, and some immersive rides that give you a new appreciation of the city. There were some rides we had to wait a few minutes for but the whole experience was very streamlined and it took me about an hour total to get through everything. And since youre right next to all the happening things in Broadway, its very easy to plan a stop here and a full day around the area. Very happy I got to go and cant recommend it enough :)
We thought this was a fun end to our week long vacay in NYC. We loved the history of the city, and for sure the ride was the best part. The only part that could have some improvement would be the waiting part of the ride. They line you up and have you watch a cheesy video screen. It was just a little long. Overall, totally worth it. My kids wanted to ride it again.
This was hands down one of the best experiences Ive been to in New York City. I love museums and immersive experiences and this was everything combined into one. Im a born and raised New Yorker and rise NY made me even more proud than I already was to have grown up in such an adventurous city. I felt like I went back in time to an era that I sometimes wish I was born in and I got to learn about the roots of many things I love such as music, fashion, film and much more. This was my first time coming and I came with a group of friends but the next time I come Ill be bringing my family!
A great experience. We really enjoyed the menu portion of the show and loved the ride at the end. Exactly like Soarin at WDW Epcot. The only thing I can say is do NOT pay extra for the VIP. It says you can skip the lines, but we had to wait on line in the pre area for the ride and also to enter the venue at the beginning. There really are no other lines, it is a self guided tour. Also the VIP gets you a gift from the gift shop, a magnet, lapel pin or a poster. Not worth it.But all in all a fun experience
This is an awesome NYC experience to have! Definitely add this attraction to your to-do list. The price point is fair and worth the dollars. If you are a picture taker like me, I recommend the VIP ticket which allows a second go-around and you will want to after the first time.I am not saying much more because I want you to enjoy the unknown about the attraction, just go & do it!
Lets get it. Another wonderful place down the 42nd street area. Its like an historic Madame Tussaud but all about a trip through early and present New York. Its to much to explain, you experience early subway lines, early looks at Times Square with emphasis on the First New Years Eve celebration and more. The cherry on the top is a virtual ride through New York City where you will actually feel like you are flying, so be sure to hold on tight. One last tidbit, youll visit old television sets such as the Honeymooners. Theres much more, youll have to take my word for it. Peace.
Very entertaining for me and my family,Extremely informative of the history of NYC!Great for families and couplesConveniently located in midtown next to anything and everything,As a lifelong New Yorker I highly recommend you check this out,It’s for sure something differentEnjoy!!!🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
I met Moey at Starbucks, I’m not from New York and was asking for recommendations on places to visit long story short she told me about her job next door & this museum was phenomenal. She was so sweet and funny as hell. I’m so glad I met her and came because this is a MUSTTTTT DO when in New York. Moey, you are phenomenal. Keep your energy and spirit. It is so beautiful and welcoming! Thank you for the experience. She even convinced me to get a vip ticket lol and I’m cheap. Girl, you Rock! I’ve been telling everyone to check y’all out when they get to New York. Staff was amazing overall. GREAT EXPERIENCE!
As a huge fan of music, cinema & tech, this place combined all of it to provide a comprehensive experience that lasted about 90 minutes.A huge amount of thought and effort has gone into making it both sonically and visually immersive, and gives a great introduction to some of the key areas of the history of New York. The end part of the experience is so well done! Immersive to the extent that its comparable to a VR experience (you might find you get a little dizzy at the start) - It really gave an experience & view of New York that would be impossible through any more means. For less than $70 for me and my wife, we both came away thoroughly impressed with how entertaining the whole experience was for the cost - Overall great value for money and something that well be highly recommending to others.
I went during previews but plan on returning soon. I enjoyed everything about RiseNY, the introduction film and subway station were awesome, I loved the exhibition galleries and of course, the ride itself! It was an exhilarating experience. I will absolutely go again!
I went here with my class today and the workers are very respectful and even gave us free tickets to go I really loved everything about it ofc the ride was the best but I loved every single thing about it the paintings and the art is just wonderful definitely 5 star rating and definitely recommend
What a experience!! It was a weekend of celebration. It was my girlfriend birthday/anniversary, she saw this on social media and she wanted to check out. The tv sets and radio displays were awesome. They have a tribute to hip-hop/rap, amazing graffiti art a portrait painting of ODB, DMX, Big Pun and Jam Master Jay. But the ride at the end of the tour IS A MUST!! New Yorkers, please check out, you will not be disappointed! Peace. One Love!
The experience was interesting in the beginning, but the main attraction, of course, is the ride at the end where you simulate flying through New York City. Its supposed to be like Sorin at Disney, which I have ridden several times and enjoy. The ride specified that it would be necessary to transfer from a wheelchair, which is expected and not a problem generally. I transfer for Sorin. But when I got to the final part of the tour, to take the ride, I was informed that I would not be allowed to ride because I could not transfer independently from my wheelchair without assistance from my wife. Even worse, I was informed that they could not issue me a refund, and that I would have to work it out with whoever sold me my ticket. The manager was very dismissive, not providing any help with a refund or a way to make it right. She told me to look at my email for a phone number for someone to talk to. I understand that businesses have liability issues; and even if I disagree with the policy, they have to protect themselves from lawsuits. But my money should have been refunded. The dismissiveness of the manager was extremely disappointing, and I cannot recommend this business. There are plenty of other fine businesses in that area to patronize.
Let us start with the price of the ticket first.A charge of $8.40 is slapped on top of the ticket price even if you buy the ticket at venue. It will set you back to $35 per person. The experience itself is so so. Get ready to waste 20-30 minutes in line for the main attraction.Final verdict: Not worth it.
We were extremely disappointed that the rules weren’t clear that I myself couldn’t transfer my husband from his wheelchair on to the ride like we can easily do at any Disney Soarin’ ride. He had to “transfer himself” according to the employees. We weren’t asking the employees to lift him at all other then to help move his unlocked chair out of the way. And they didn’t tell us until we were just about to get to the ride segment. They refused immediate refund of his ticket. And they said we had to request the refund from the website we bought the ticket from. I highly doubt we will get reimbursed, but if we had of known we wouldn’t of ordered tickets in the first place and honestly not gone to NYC at all. My husband is an engineer and he absolutely loved the Soarin’ ride experience at Disney World and our family adored his love for the way the ride is set up. So heads up, you cannot help your disabled spouse, relative or date to transfer on RiseNY’s Soarin’ ride. His daughter and I rode it without him but we were very upset as we knew how much he enjoyed this style of ride. So Boo!
A very expensive way to access a white people’s history of new york city. they do mention the lenape and slavery at one point but in passing as if it was just a fun fact among many. the whole thing has a v 9/11 memorial vibe except arts focused, again everything is white white, the friends show, SNL, 1958 ball drop, images of white immigrants making new york great again…their one concession is repeatedly playing empire state of mind by jay z and alicia keys, oh and a brief flash of lena horne in a brief film at the beginning.Extremely expensive, frequent waiting in lines, the one redeeming factor is the ride at the end. My kids really loved it but it was 3 minutes long so imho not really worth it.
Took my family here this past Sunday night and got stuck on this attraction for over 20 minutes after it malfunctioned. We were locked into our seats, not permitted to get off, and had hardly any communication from the staff during the incident. We, along with others had to call 911 to expedite the process to get off the ride. We were told by the staff that this occurred due to missed maintenance on the attraction and that it has been happening once a week. I cannot find a phone number on the website to speak to a human and have also submitted multiple contact forms without any success. I would not recommend taking a chance on this ride.
The only reason to come to this experience is for the 6 minute ride at the end. The exhibits are poor and not truly a museum experience. There is also too much waiting and it wasn’t really busy. The staff for the ride miscounted and after a long wait tried to make a random person get off and wait for the next one as there were not enough seats. Needless to say it was very poor customer service and utterly unfair. Would not recommend this at all.
Excellent place! New latest and must visit attraction located in the heart of Manhattan Times Square. The stunning ride and stunning view of New York with Disney like ride here in our NYC. Charge your cameras for beautiful pictures in the museum. The staff if very good, the ticket prices are also decent. I will upload my complete review on my YouTube channel NKs Entertainment Vlogs.
This is a combination museum of NYC history plus an exhilarating immersive ride that makes you feel like you are physically flying over and through NYC. I rode the ride twice and could have gone 10 more times, it was that much fun. Loved that we were misted with water while gliding over an FDNY fire boat and consumed with a bit of chilly air as we flew over a snowy NYC adding to the virtual experience. One of the staff told us this attraction is still in the soft opening phase and that more elements will be added soon. The various museum exhibits were educational, entertaining and interesting. Pay particular attention to the Rise of New York Fashion mini documentary. Its the best.
Went there during previews. The museum sections are interesting - while definitely still in progress but the Ride itself is TOTALLY MAGICAL. What a phenomenal experience - flying above all of gorgeous NYC. Wind and water spritz you as you fly above the East River and around the Lady Liberty - through central park, brooklyn... Honestly,- this New Yorker could take this ride over and over and over again. Seriously - ill probably go back. Soon. It is thrilling, FUN and a stunning visual and physical way to experience this one of a kind metropolis.
A great experience. It brought tears to me eyes. Wishing I was back in the day... a better day gone by. However, it reminds me that even though we are going thru it these days, I can hope that its growing PAINS! We will be ok. God bless America & God bless RISENY! Keep reminding us all of the good.
Ill keep it short. I think its cool that New York City has decided to open up a Soarin style attraction in midtown Manhattan. Lots of money must have been poured into this project. The whole experience lasts about an hour (if you pace yourself) and therefore I think its pretty fairly priced at under $30 a person. More than $30 and I might have been slightly disappointed. The highlights are the opening immersive video in the City Hall Subway station, the high-tech elevator ride and of course the Soarin attraction itself. I hope that the walk-through museum parts of Rise improve as time goes on but for now, they suffice. The attraction seemed to be bigger than the Soarin at Mall of America but smaller than the one at Epcot. I was on the top row and Im guessing the most immersive experience is in the middle row - best sight lines I would guess. My guess is that this museum could be re-themed with overlays during Halloween and the Holidays for repeat viewings. Definitely go - projects like this are expensive and we should support visionaries opening things in Midtown besides another Walgreens (although it is above a Walgreens lol). Respect for hiring Jeff Goldblum for voiceover work!
Worst place ever! I went With my grandma and the staff treated her like she was handicapped. Gina was very very rude I ask her a question and she had a nasty attitude.I then walk through tv and about 3 staff was having a conversation. I was going ask them a question but I felt like I was a bother I just kept walking. Do not go I want a refund they said no refunds cause I already use my ticket.

2022-06-06Absolutely fantastic! One of the best museums Ive been to in a long time. When visiting please take your time because there are lots of smaller displays you may miss if you rush through the experience. This staff was absolutely wonderful. The ending was tons of fun

2022-04-17RiseNY is a fantastic experience that captured the true essence of The Big Apple. The authenticity is encapsulated & the interactive ride, is one of the highlights. Loved the movie theatre room with delicious popcorn. Amazing displays & exhibits that you can interact with. A definite recommendation from a Native New Yorker and will revisit again!

2022-05-24I visited Rise NY for my niece’s birthday. The museum was a little cheesy but the 4D ride made it all worth while. So much fun! Reminded me of Universal Studio’s Avatar ride. If your in NY you must visit a least once.

2022-06-20This place is so fun! Its a definite tourist attraction but for native New Yorkers its just as special! Its a deep research and acknowledgement to the History of the 5 boroughs at the end is definitely the best...Ill just say it will have you soaring like never before! No pun intended...lol a must see and do!

2022-03-08I’ve lived here over 6 years and learned so much I never knew before ! Timed entry makes for a spacious tour of the museum that was really cool . Covers everything from fashion to finance to the Beatles . Very nice staff and well worth the money for the ticket . The flying simulation ride is incredible ! Truly enjoyed every minute . A few things to note .. it’s wheelchair accessible throughout exhibit . When it comes to the ride portion you just need to be able to be put the person in their seat for the ride . The person cannot remain in their wheelchair . Also there is one part heading up to the exhibit that is very loud - if you are autistic or have other sensory issues just let staff know and they will let you bypass that part and still get you to where you need to be . Go check this out before all the crowds find out about it ! For what it’s worth ..Kids 7 and up would be my Rec .

2022-06-04As a life long NYer who lives 60 miles North of NYC, this exhibit was absolutely amazing. It reminded me why I love NY so much. As a Hip Hop connoisseur, I was upset that many NY rappers and founding fathers were left out of the Hip Hop exhibit. Hopefully they can all eventually be added in. Great experience overall.

2022-06-23We have done just about everything here in the city and my sis came across the New York Rise museum. What a gem! So much to see and do. Family friendly and so much fun. Take your pic in the Honeymooners livingroom, see the Beatles drum set from them Ed Sullivan show. We learned a lot about the history of our great city and we loved the ride on the end. It really makes you feel like your flying over New York City!Youll find The Rise at 160 W. 45th St. New York, New York 10036
