These guys were amazing! They were efficient, professional, affordable, and rolled with a lot of unforeseen circumstances during our move. We were very impressed and would recommend them to anyone needing movers. Great job guys! Also, ignore those other ridiculous negative reviews. When you get an estimate from a moving company it is exactly that, an estimate. It is impossible to know if the move will take more or less time than expected and as someone that’s used movers on several occasions I know you should always be prepared to spend more if the move takes longer than expected (and it almost always does because that’s just the nature of moving). These guys were fantastic. Thank you for making a very stressful day more bearable.
Best Movers in Rochester! Dave and his team were on time the day of the move and got us moved very quickly. The estimate Dave gave us was higher than what we actually paid in the end. I wouldnt recommend any other mover and will definitely be using them when I move again!
I recently used Rochester Moving & Storage for a local move. Dave came to my house and viewed what I had to move and then prepared an estimate for me. On moving day, Dave brought a large crew of men with him to do my move. Although the hourly rate was higher, my move was done faster so the actual cost was a little under the estimate. I was very happy. The crew was friendly and eager to please, assisting me with putting beds together and making sure everything was placed where I wanted it. I would without a doubt refer Rochester Moving & Storage to anyone who wants their moving day to be as stress-free as a moving day could possibly be.
Dave Conkeys final invoice came in under his original quote. I was completely satisfied with the job that was performed in moving us. Tim and his crew were very careful in not damaging any of our furniture . They were careful not to damage any part of the house during the move. I was impressed how each member of the team was polite and respectful to us. Im glad I went with Rochester Movers.
While this is a long review, I feel it is important to let people know the full story of the move that we just endured. Dave Conkey took a day that should have been made simple by our hiring his service, and turned it into a day from hell for my family and I.Dave came for the estimate appointment on time and was kind and courteous. He thoroughly checked my house and wrote me an estimate to move all furniture, boxes, and our outdoor items (two patio sets, deck box, etc.). The estimate seemed reasonable – so reasonable I asked a few times if it included everything. He assured me that it did. He also stated that he would be there for at least part of the day of the move to ensure that everything would run smoothly. When I called to book his service, I asked in that conversation what size storage unit would be appropriate for our belongings, since we couldn’t move into our new place yet – he recommended a 10x20. I couldn’t find a 10x20, so I asked if 2 10x10 units would be large enough and he said yes.Dave called the morning of the move to let me know that they should be there around 12-12:30. I called at noon to confirm and he said they’d be there by 1 with no issue. This is where the lies begin. The movers arrived at my home at 2:30 – over an hour and a half late. They met my husband there and started loading. The moving team was great – 7 guys and one large truck. They worked diligently and carefully and loaded the truck as full as possible. I have no complaints about his team – they were great guys who did a great job with the assignment they were given. After the loading was complete, our garage was completely FULL with no room on the truck. In addition, we needed a THIRD 10x10 unit PLUS a family member’s garage to store all of our belongings. The job had obviously been completely underestimated by Dave. When my husband called him, Dave said basically “oh well”, and that his guys could come back to the house for a second load and trip, but we’d have to pay full price. He did offer to stop the clock after the storage units were loaded in Bergen and not charge us the .25 hour for the trip back to Irondequoit. It would have cost approximately $500 more to have the movers come back and do another load, so we declined. We then ended up moving the remaining belongings ourselves that night (until 2:30 a.m.).The estimate that Dave gave me was GROSSLY under what we ended up actually needing. In addition to the one truck that the movers loaded and unloaded, it took 8 hours and THREE trips with a full trailer, minivan, large pickup truck, and car to move all that was left over.I called Dave that night to express my frustration with the way things had gone. If he had apologized, you wouldn’t be reading this review. Instead, he was unsympathetic and took no responsibility for his completely inaccurate quote. He said “I told you plus or minus” – I told him that I did not take that to mean +/- $500! He repeatedly said “you know, a truck can only fit so much”, and said we really needed 2 trucks for the amount of stuff that we had. I told him that it would have been nice to know that in May and he said “It’s the busiest season, we wouldn’t have had two trucks.” I wish I’d had all of that information before having to make a choice in movers! Anyone can offer a reasonable quote if it does not take into account all of your belongings.DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! Dave will likely write you a fantastic quote, but he has absolutely no clue how to estimate a move, and you will end up either paying more or doing the rest yourself. A day that should have been made relaxing by using paid movers was filled with stress and ended with my family moving a quarter of our belongings with no moving truck at the very last second. Save yourself the trouble and go with a different company.
Rochester Moving & Storage moved furniture I had stored in my garage to my cottage. The crew was knowlegeable and very friendly. Everything was moved without a problem - no scratches, nicks, etc. - and the men put my china cabinet back together for me. Dave Conkey gave me a good estimate that came in close to the actual job cost. I recommend Rochester Moving & Storage if you are planning a move.
Used them several years ago when we moved less then 5 miles. The only issue was with my closing date being pushed around Dave had to juggle multiple customers on the day of the move out.He was upfront, honest and got the job done despite the moving target. 2 trips and several guys and we were in our dream house.
I recently hired Rochester Moving and Storage for a local move. The job was to load up a truck with the contents of a 10x20 storage unit, drive it 5 miles to my house, unload and disperse the boxes/furniture throughout the house. When I first spoke with Dave at Rochester Moving and Storage he mentioned a price per hour that was quite a bit higher than other quotes I received (approximately $174 per hour) but mentioned he had a crew of 5 guys, which was much larger than the 2-3 man crews from the other companies I received quotes from.On the day we wished to move, I let Dave know that I was busy during the day and would prefer to do the move in the late afternoon/evening. Dave originally agreed to this but clearly expressed a preference for earlier in the day so I moved my schedule around to make that happen. The day before our move, I received a call from Dave informing me that he forgot he already had a move scheduled that day and pushed my time back to the evening because of it. He also mentioned casually that he would be bringing 6 men because that was what the job before mine required, but did not mention at the time there would be any change in cost. The next day at the move Dave then revealed that the 6 man crew would cost $204 per hour instead of the original $174. When I expressed my dissatisfaction with this, he assured me that it would balance out because 6 guys could work faster than 5. This is certainly not how it worked out. I was pleased with the moving crew themselves, however six men cannot effectively load a 10x20 storage unit into a truck. There were too many of them, leading them to get in each others way or stand idle while 2 were working. This is issue was not as drastic at the house, but 6 was still overkill. In the end, I did not feel that I should be forced to pay extra for the 6th man just because the job before mine required it. I had agreed to the $174 per hour when I booked the move and did not appreciate having the extra $30 per hour sprung on me when I really had no choice but to go along with it if I wanted to keep the move going. In my estimate, the extra guy increased the cost of our move by about $100. When we called Dave and expressed this to him the next day (once he got me to sign the contract he was gone and we did not see him again), and give him a chance to make it right he simply told us that his company has a great reputation and nothing but good reviews. Well I agree that the movers themselves did a good job, I am not satisfied with the management and would not recommend Rochester Moving and Storage.
Horrible!!! Dave Conkeys quote was off by almost 200 hundred dollars. He quoted us for 6 guys to move a 1500 sq foot house but showed up with 8 men, stating the timeframe would be shorter and the price wouldnt change so the more money per hour wasnt a factor. After causing damage to multiple walls, door frames and furniture at both the house we left and our new build they offered us 50 dollars off our nearly 900 dollar bill. When my wife asked Dave about the damage he came back to the house with one of the movers and called her a liar, engaged in an aggresive argument to the point where my wife felt in danger and had to ask them multiple times to leave the house. To this day they still wont provide us their insurance information, its scary people can take your hard earned money and treat you this way with no repercussions. Do yourself a favor and go with someone else.
Totally misleading! Took advantage a a woman who just lost her husband and was looking to relocate. I paid big bucks to move to Buffalo and half of my belongings remained in Rochester. They claimed one of their trucks was getting repaired. Dont believe a word they said. Still grieving over my husband and had to deal with this.
When you see the replies to the negative reviews and the company is argumentative and confrontational even on google: AVOID! I’m moving and just seeing their name brought back horrible memories of damage, a huge surprise bill and an aggressive attack from the company.

2022-05-23I used Rochester Moving & Storage about 7 years ago for a local move and they were fantastic. When I needed a mover to move out of state in March of this year, I knew I had to call Tim for help. Our load up in Rochester was perfect. Tim and his crew were punctual and very prepared. I did not have to babysit and the pack out was completed on time and flawless. I was very happy. As with any move, there are always unforeseen issues that arise and once we met in Kentucky, Tim had a lot of unpredictable things that arose and handled with professionalism and sincere, genuine concern. Not one item was broken, scratched or dented. In fact, I last minute packed my coffee mug and it didnt spill. :) I would highly recommend Rochester Moving & Storage for your long distance move and am very grateful I chose them. Thank you Tim for all of your patience and hard work! Everything here is fantastic. Thanks again for your help in getting my things to Kentucky safely, on time and in perfect condition for a very fair price.

2022-05-27These guys are amazing!! We had them at two different times because we were building and had to stage the house we lived in for 30 years. They were very courteous, careful with all of our furniture and belongings. After they moved some stuff into one room we decided we didn’t like it there and asked them change it. They did so very willingly and graciously. They arrived when they said they would be there. Packed and unpacked the truck with care. They are absolutely the best and we’re 110% satisfied.

2022-07-12These guys are incredible! They moved my mother-in-law 24 years ago and again 2 weeks ago. They are the nicest people and are meticulous movers. They moved her prized grand piano as if they were moving the Queens throne. We just hired hired them to move our cast iron bathtub up a narrow flight of stairs- after we just got the floors and stairs re-done and they were so careful- not even a scratch. These are professional movers who care about the quality of their work. Their prices are extremely reasonable, especially for their level of professionalism. If you need to move anything, these are the movers for you. Period.

2021-10-27Rochester Moving & Storage is a small business which has been a part of the community for about 30 years and they are excellent! The crew was professional and courteous. We had some pretty large items and some narrow passages but they made it around those corners like magic. No scuffs anywhere and no damage to any of our items. They are very handy as they were able to disassemble and reassemble our items with no time wasted. Speaking of time, they were able to finish the move in the exact time they said they would in the quoted estimate. Their prices are reasonable, no surprises, no hidden fees, and no minimum number of hours (some places charge you for several hours even if it doesnt take them that long). Rochester Moving & Storage brought a crew of about 6 people who all work well together. So they are very fast. I also appreciate the larger crew because it keeps any individual from being overworked. I can definitely appreciate a local business that treats their workers well. The management was also very courteous and responsive. I have no complaints and would recommend them to anyone!

2022-05-01I appreciated the professionalism and hard work from the gentlemen that moved me from my house of 21 years to my new house. They were puntual and very nice, taking good care of my things and asking for my direction in where to put things. I would recommend Dave and his crew to other families. Dave met with me prior to the move and was very responsive to my questions and thoughts.

2022-05-06Professional, efficient, would highly recommend. Dave, the owner, came to give an estimate. I was impressed with his expertise and friendliness. His quote was reasonable and the job was completed within the week. His six employees handled every piece of furniture with extra care. This was a stress free move!

2022-02-18I like both Dave and Tim and had high hopes for our move to North Carolina. Unfortunately, their services were not good. They took apart and re-assembled 3 beds - one was broken and none of them were put together properly; they put multiple scratches in the floor of our new home; many of our pieces of furniture were scratched. If you have decent furniture and want it to be decent when you move do NOT use these guys.

2022-08-13Asked for a quote for moving out of state. They came into our house and looked over all the items. NEVER heard back from them with a quote. Also very UNPROFESSIONAL with the comment about our dogs, which were in the back yard. Would NOT recommend this company at all!!
