My hard drive stopped working. Brought to Mike to ck out: turns out it didnt need to be replaced. He was able to reformat and reinstall the operating system and my data. Reasonably prices for the service provided. He also set up a malware protection. Recommend without reservation.
I took my laptop to this man for copying a hardware. He charged $75 for nothing. Then I went there again because speaker was dead. He fixed it for a few seconds by one touch charging $75. Stay away from this man.I am updating this. He must be a liar all the time because he didnt give me any receipt saying hes never repaired a laptop for me. His wife was mowing the lawn with his son playing in his workroom.
Editing my original review: not two weeks after paying several hundred dollars for a motherboard fix, my PC went down again with the same issue, which the company itself has since fixed. Not only that, but the day I brought the computer home, he asked to do a remote access to make sure everything was running well, then proceeded to give himself a 5 star from my account. Dont go here.
I called A & M because they were local and easy to find. I asked the proprietor - Mike Coogan - for an estimate on the two laptops I brought him. One was my sons Toshiba that clearly needed a new hard drive. The other was my fiances Toshiba that needed a new screen. Mike seemed a bit confused - asking me for my name and phone number to write on an address label he was putting on the bottom of the second machine after he had just finished writing up the first one. He gave me no invoice and no claim check - just said hed call when he had an estimate for me. A week later I called him back, only to find out that hed already done the work without my authorization. And he charged me $375. If he had given me the estimate to begin with, I would taken it to someone else for a second estimate or have replaced the hard drive myself. I was furious, but what could I do? He wanted the check made out to cash, so I complied and went on my way. Do not use this man for your computer repair. Hell find a way to separate you from your money whether you want him to or not.
Mike computer guy is somebody I found on Google by typing computer repair shop near Pomona NY. He showed up at my house right away and went above and beyond in helping me with my computer. He even recovered some old data from previous operating system that i had lost years ago. Im happy to say my computer is good like new. Obviously I recommend him.
My real estate business innyack has been using A& M computer repair for several years and they recently rebuilt our IT infrastructure dealing with everything from the data cabling, server installation, telecommunications, computers and printer networking and performed multiple virus removal and general PC hardware and software installation work for us. We have been extremely happy with their services, and their response times have been unprecedented especially when compared with any other computer service companies that we have hired in past years. They are very fair and reasonably priced, especially when considering the level of IT knowledge and services they offer. I would and have recommended them to other businesses, family and friends. MIke fixed my Apple Notebook and installed a SSD hard drive, which made my computer work 10 X FASTER!!! He cleaned all the cookies, and spyware. He was very nice, reasonable and easy to talk to. Price was just right :). Would definitely recommend his services to others.
Mike and I have spoken since this review and we agree that the essence of the problem lies in communication and expectations. These are side issues that shouldnt take away from the essence of what Mike does, so I have boosted his rating 2 stars!!OLD REVIEW:On the positive side: my hardware problem was fixed, so 3 stars for the alls-well-that-ends-well aspect of this. Im lucky. Had we run into problems (or if I still run into problems), I dont know what we would have done. The minuses:* I received no estimate of either time or money to fix, despite having asked for both. I called while I waited, looking to find out how much this would cost and when it would be done, and left an un-answered voice message. I finally just went back after an hour away to find out what the heck was going on, and was informed that work was complete.* A bit pricey. It was ultimately $125. I probably would have said yes if told in advance, but since it remained an unknown till the end, it was a bit of a shocker. (What if I had said thats too much? Would Mike have kept the machine? Would we have had a fight?).* No invoice and no receipt. Therefore, no recourse and no warranty on work.* Cash or check only, which I didnt know until the deal was done. What if I had said I only have credit cards? Would Mike have kept the machine until I was able to find a bank?Mike seemed to know what he was doing, and said hes been doing this for a long time. But if this is going to be a business, it should act like a business. This should include all of the items above and at least a small sign on the door, indicating that you really are at a place of business, rather than merely a private address.
AMAZING! Just called them in a panic about a computer issue I was having and they literally walked me through the steps, took remote access of my computer and FIXED my problem. My tech was MIKE. He was patient, kind and THOROUGH and LISTENED to everything I had to say. He gave me tips on how to do things differently and more efficiently going forward. Will refer everyone and anyone.
I have a dell computer. The screen was wiggling and a line (4 inches in from the right of the screen) interrupted the texts that were on the screen, so as to make reading the texts annoying.Anyhow, I called Mike Coogan at Rockland County Computer Repair in Stony Point. Since I only live 5 minutes away, I dropped off my computer at 9:30 in the morning and picked it up at 3:30 pm that same day. He had a new screen installed and tuned up the computer. What excellent service! And at a reasonable cost. I was most grateful.
I take my computers TVs,s and what ever else I find to A&M computer repair. For several years now. The owner Mike is nice easy to talk to and fair in price. Totally professional and family oriented I totally recommend the business for computers TVs and other electronic devices
Drop a 55” TV off about three months ago and forgot to give him the remote and the wire. He never called and asked for them so after about two weeks I called him to check on the TV. He told me he was still looking for a part. After that I called him about two weeks later and he still had no answers for me. Now my TV has been there for around 3 months and I havent heard anything from him. Worst service
He did not give me a quote when i asked him repeatedly. Then when finally fixed he charged $350 to fix a crooked power unit (nothing with the hard drive) just a little problem with the power source. For $350 i could buy a new computer. Please ask for quote before you go to him. He also took my login information to give himself a 5 star review, so some of these reviews may not even be real.He can certainly fix your computer, but please ask for a price quote before letting him work on it and do not give him any of your login information
I had an old Sony 55 Plasma on the wall but yesterday(1/9/20) had a power outage. When I went to reset all the TVs in the residence the plasma television would not go on. Contacted Sony of which absolutely no help whatsoever. Contacted Mike at Rockland County Computer and TV Repair....he showed up the next morning(1/10) right on time at 9am and with a little bit of this and a little bit of that and a new power strip he was able to reroute what needed to be rerouted and within no time I had the plasma back up and running perfectly. So very happy!!! Then he proceeded to my desktop computer of which he got running at a much faster speed AND is searching for a new television for my upstairs that doesnt quite work well and fit in its designated location. He is very personable, knowledgeable and trustworthy and definitely will hire him again in a heartbeat...already gave his number out to two neighbors. Everyone who needs computer or TV repair...this is the place to call!
Brought my acer netbook to mike bc my hard drive detached from the motherboard. He told me he would look at it and call me back with an estimate...3 days went by so i called him. Surprisingly he said he fixed it! so i was like ok..how much...he says $175!!!! what?! thought you said you would call me with an estimate?!...says he installed new OS with windows 7 ultimate, microsoft office and put a virus protector on it ( ALL of which I did not ask for!!!) needless to say..i didnt have the money so i had no choice but to leave my laptop there for a month until i was able to gather the money ( I am an unemployed single mom, in school) picked up my laptop saturday 9/8/12 at 630 pm...all seemed fine so i paid him$175...Sunday at 9 pm...it shut off and i got the blue screen of death. brought it back to him as another customer was dropping there desktop off. 10 minutes after leaving he calls to tell me that the hard drive is detached again. I told him that i do not know how that happened as He was too have sodded or welded it back down. He says it looks like someone ripped it off...really??????? why would i pay you $175 and then go home and rip it off again?! he said he would attempt to fix it again...and I asked for free right...he replied that no he would charge me...REALLY? he obviously did not do it right the first time...I went right back and took my netbook back...bc honstly i cant afford to be ripped off again by this guy. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH HIM. when i asked him about a warranty..he was like oh your computer is fine...look where that got me...still with a broken netbook and him with a free $175....I AM TAKING HIM TO COURT!!!
Well he says he was going to repair my desktop and laptop and external hard drive.....my desktop he recovered some of my programs...he added Windows 7 (not at my request)..needless to say when I got the computer back i was shocked he added windows 7 when I had xp and thought it was fine. When I updated all my programs it was discovered that the windows 7 he installed was a pirated version. So my computer is not working properly. When i called Mike to ask what was going on he spoke to me like I was a moron and said what the hell did you update it for....I told you not to. Now I have to do everything over again...My external hard drive he lost and said he cant find it!!! This guy is a joke...when i confronted him irrate he hung up on me....run away dont walk...He uses your external hard drive for parts then tells you he can not find it!!!!

2021-08-01SCAM....DO NOT ... DO NOT... DO NOT bring your devices to be repaired here. When we brought our TV here to be repaired we had a horrible experience. When inquiring about the price to fix our tv we were told “it would not cost much”. 4 days later this guy calls us back and states it’s going to cost $220 to fix the tv. Then a few days later the price jumps to $250. When inquiring about the cost of the parts that were needed to fix the TV, we were told $45. What was the $205 for? We still haven’t gotten a straight answer for that. After talking to him for several days, he agreed to $100 dollars which he later went back on his word. All in all do not get your devices fixed by this guy. The lack of professionalism he displayed through this experience is ridiculous and let’s not get started on the sketchy shop/ home he operates out of.

2020-05-28My computer was touch and go, sadly did not make it. Mike tried to save it but at that point there was nothing to do. He repaired it and basically gave me a new version of my computer for about a hundred under what a brand new computer would cost me. There were some interface issue after the repairs which he did follow up work on for free to get it into working order. The main assessment + repair took 4 days, with less than one extra to work out the interface issue.Mike is no miracle worker but he knows what he is doing and will see to it that at least you are not left out in the wind.Good repair time, moderate skill, reasonable pricing, well above average customer attendance.

2021-06-14Brought my 50 inch Flat screen to this guy to fix because t.v was not turning on. Said he would contact me and let me know issue. After 4 days I called him and he tells me the repair fee is $250.He hooks up a device to my t.v and t.v turns on. When I go home t.v does not turn on. I call him back and he says When you left my place your t.v worked. I have no receipt of transaction. So basically got scammed. DO NOT EVEN THINK OF USING THIS PLACE...OLD TIME SCAMMER!

2019-05-04Mike fixed my iPhone 6s Plus screen and feels like I have new phone now. He is very professional and courteous. I received same day service, actually he fixed my phone rather quickly. I could not see anything before he fixed my phone. My screen was in shambles. I would definitely recommend his services. I am very happy with the end result and the price was reasonable.

2020-10-31I brought in an LG Smart TV that kept rebooting one year after the warranty expired.I was doubtful this was going to be an economical fix. So I went out and bought a Samsung Smart TV to stand in while ( and if ) the LG was repairable. I was so happy to learn that the job was done and at a great price. I was impressed. The Samsung got returned and The LG is living alive and well in my bedroom again

2015-04-20Mike did a great job on my Microsoft surface in one day. Spent time showing me how to work the software he installed on my surface and made me feel like a pro when he was done.when it came to pay I was surprised how affordable it was to get everything done.I would recommend Mike at A&M Computers to all my friends and family.
