I cant even describe how great this place is. Ive worked in the restaurant business before and they are a well oiled cooking machine! Everytime I come the service is fast, great and easy. Prices are incredibly affordable and the food is out of this world. 5/7 this place is perfect.
After a hiatus of closure over18 months, the good news ? Theyre once again open, but currently closed Mondays. Been here a multitude of times from years back, always happy with the menu, the portions, the serving.A mixed crowd enjoys here - all types, downtowners, students, uniformed services, the aged. The price ? Not necessarly inexpensive, as some reviewers indicate. But the value, along with the neatness and freshness is outstanding. The only caveat: Best when not exceedingly crowded.
We visited Rolandos four days in a roll and would go there every day for breakfast if we could. The breakfast was Awesome and our waitress made us feel like we had been coming there forever. She was a big part of us choosing to eat there again, as was my cornbeef hash and eggs. Yes, I had it four days in a roll. Truly a place we would eat at everyday and wish we had such a diner back home.
Food is good. They close at 2 on Saturdays and only server breakfast. We have had meals here a few time. One time the waitress decided to mop the floors and sprayed lemon Lysol on the floor one table behind us. Both my friend and I have severe allergic reactions to certain smell. We mentioned the smell was killing us so she got one,of the guys to mop the floor. He came out with a mop that had obviously been soaked in Clorox, that was one,of the worse thing for my allergies. So we left our food. They were going to charge us until my friend said she would talk to the manager so the waitress then said we didnt have to pay a,d apologized that we could finish our meals.A good point was when we went in Saturday I wanted liver because most things had some form of gluten on them. She asked the cook if he would fix it for me and he obliged.
Rolandos gets a huge breakfast crowd on the weekends. Often, there is a wait to be seated after 10. We have been here many times, but this time, I was not very pleased. Id normally give them a 4 star review, but my waffle had pieces of charred things throughout it and my bacon did not smell good. This is the first time I was not okay with breakfast here, but I also did not complain to the server. I just picked around the charred pieces and gave what bacon and homefries I had left to my hubs. It is economic and pretty fast. I would stick with a waffle or eggs next time. Those have been consistently ok.
I have never had a good experience here. I gave it a shot a few times but finally called it quits for good. Unfriendly staff and the prices are high and also confusing. They need to solidify their prices on the menu. My boyfriend ordered eggs and toast and it somehow came out to almost $8.
My parents love this place! I live in FL, but whenever I visit my parents we end up at Rolandos AT LEAST once. The food is good, the service quick and the prices are so low. Sunday mornings the place is packed so you may have to wait 8 minutes. Mom likes the spinach feta omelet and home fries. We tend to go for weekday lunch or dinner and have no trouble getting a table. Rolandos salad- a salad topped with chicken Speedies- is a favorite.
Rolandos is a simple downtown diner with great food and very reasonable prices, even by diner standards. Dont let the worn Pepsi sign on the street fool you, this place is a gem. Its the kind of spot with a steady local following that you can grab a coffee and an omelette before work every week and not break the bank. The homemade muffins are excellent, service is quick and efficient, and the coffee refills never stop coming. Cash only of course because its a diner and thats part of the charm.
Food is good and prices are low. My only problem is the fact that the cooks do not wear gloves while handling food and I saw the owner press the grease off the bacon with bare hands. Also you have to keep on top of the waitresses for more than one cup of coffee and any extra napkins. Bathrooms are not handicap accessible either.
Im giving a 4star because it would be unfair to the employees who work hard to make it a great place; the owners, in my opinion, deserve 0 stars; the owners wife has been cruel and very unprofessional to my family and I on multiple occasions and she is cruel to the employees! When she isnt there, its a great, affordable place to eat with good food and a friendly staff!
A classic inexpensive breakfast and lunch diner located on Court Street in downtown. Breakfast all day, plenty of daily specials and the soups are often great (the Manhattan clam especially). Large portions so youll never leave hungry. I recommend the pasta with meatballs, which are always fresh made and cooked in their own homemade sauce. If you want it they probably make it, from pancakes to burgers to chicken & biscuits to stews or even broiled fish.Downsides: the bread is just cheap white bread (so dont bother), the salad is an afterthought and the coffee is just OK, but hey-- at least its a bottomless cup. :D
I went here on a Saturday ten minutes before three not knowing they close at three on Saturday. I went with my daughter and we were going to leave without eating but the owner persuaded us to stay. We are glad we did. It was cheap, quick, and very good. Will come back soon.
On November 1 my husband and I went to breakfast. My husband has many health problems. Parkinsons disease, kidney disease a long list. His memory is poor. Partly from Parkinsons partly due to fluid restriction because of stage 4 kidney failure. Since he cant drink a normal amount of fluid toxins remain in his system. I have to help him with his menu choices. While we were in the process of choosing our meal. I heard the waitress say to a male customer see what I have to put up with. The man laughed. (She is the waitress in black sweater on this site.) On the 31. My husbands aide Tricia told me he was upset with her because he thought she was paying for his soda at the wrong place in dunkin donuts. Tricia said she had to ask an employee where to pay so he would calm down. I told Darrel that were welcome at Rolandos so we wont be back. I hope this woman never has to live my life. I cry some days because I dont know how much longer he will live.
I ordered eggs but wanted cheddar. They only had swiss, white American, or mozzarella. I ordered coffee. There are no flavored creamers and the only non-processed white sugar sweetener was sweet and low. I wanted honey for my oatmeal. There was no honey. I mean really??? These things are is must so basic. I would never return. The food was meh. I prepare far better food for myself in my home with no wait and no feeling of being rushed out to accommodate a large influx. Chriss diner is not far from here on State St., and the food is FANTASTIC! If youre going to spend money on foods, they are sort your while.
So...we went to Rolandos diner on Court St. for breakfast today....first and last time !! We waited 45 minutes for food! Then the over-easy eggs were hard as rocks, the toast was so cold that the butter didnt melt, my 3-cheese omelet had a bit of cheese in the center, and the rest was brown and overcooked. Sausage links you couldnt cut with a knife. The owners wife was telling us that her husband is on a trip to Greece and one other guy quit...how its graduation weekend and they are just so busy. She said they opened in 1971!! So Im gonna go out on a limb here.....poor planning - cuz graduation weekend happens every year. So after all that, I go to use the restroom....no toilet paper and no paper towels!! Ugh!!! Needless to say, we will not be going back there!! 😝
Philly cheese steak was good, sausage biscuit n gravy was not so good. The biscuits were hard, homefries were burnt. Rice pudding was ok. Plastic cups need to be upgrsded or replaced, they are in sad shape. Cook needs to wash hands after sweeping and before cooking. Need to take some pride. Waitress was fast snd efficient.
Ive been going to rolandos since I was a little girl. I have always loved it everytime. they never let me down. I used to be a regular there and would order home fries eggs and ham everytime. it is something truly delicious. staff are so nice, make sure you leave satisfied. its hard not to with prices like rolandos (:
I walked in at a quiet hour and asked for a cheeseburger and sat at a table the waitress was very rude and snotty to me for no known reason the greek cook got made a comment that i must be poor outrageously bad service will never go there again cant believe i tipped a buck

2021-09-29This place is back open after 2 years shut down for Covid. I got the Gyro omelette with home fries, bacon and Corned Beef hash and it was as good as it was 3 years ago. My wife got the Philly cheese steak with Fries. She liked that. Prices were cheap. Place was clean and waitress was friendly.

2022-07-22My finace and I had breakfast there last weekend. It was really busy but we managed to get 2 seats at the counter. The food was amazing. My eggs benny was so good I was tempted to lick the plate clean. It was very entertaining to watch the chefs cooking. They were very professional and clearly knew what they were doing. I would recommend checking them out. Good job!!!

2022-06-07Always nice to stop in here. I can get in and out within 20 minutes. Service is very quick. They now accept credit cards which is nice but there is a small fee added on for card. Food price is fairly low. Quality of food is very good though.

2018-09-03Wow what do you have to do to get a menu here? Once we finally ordered we were presented with yes big portions but medioca tasting food. I am questioning save food procedures. I saw the wait staff wiping her nose and hair with hands and than getting ready to put on the last touches for your plate. Meanwhile she kept going back to her own plate in the corner . No hand washing ! My husband said : if you look for and original Speedie dont go there.

2021-10-07Situated on Court St. and close to downtown, Rolandos has delicious food at a fair price and offers daily food specials.Currently theyre open from 7:00 am until 3:00 pm Weekdays, 2:00 pm WeekendsOne con of the diner is that theyre small, because of the property theyre located in, but they do their best to be accommodating.A classic restaurant worth a stop at.Photo from tripadvisor.com
