Horrible service! What a poor service for such a pricy place that’s not even that great since this is NYC. I used to come regularly to this place on Monday with my friends, and last night I had the most horrible experience, the waitress was very rude, she took a long time to come to the table to give us the menu, to take our order and then she never checked out on us. I kindly asked for my check and she threw it to me in a nasty, rude way in front of my friends in the table. Then she never came to pick up the check with the card, so I had to go to the bar to pay, the bartender gave the check to her, she did the payment and walked right by my side, to leave the check on the table, when she saw me standing up right in front of her!!! I had to go to the table and realized that there wasn’t a pen to sign up the receipt. The waitress was upset because I asked her just for my check and then she behaved this way. It seems to me that this place wants to make clear to you that you should feel lucky to be there, because it’s about how “exclusive” the bar is, not about giving a good service and treatening you well. Yes the bar is nice, but this place is not that great. Not coming back here. It’s ridiculous how pretentious and rude staff are.
Theres nothing rosy or sexy when this place is a racist establishment with unfriendly staffs and rude bouncers. Its probably the same black bouncer as the others reviewed earlier. We went there last night, as it was Saturday and thought itd be a good idea to swing by and see what the buzz is about. We were wrong. 5 of us, 4 being Asian and 1 good looking friend whos French. We are all out of towners so we were looking forward to it. Guess what? Only the French was allowed in and we were being pushed physically by the bouncer, saying reservation only. He was aggressive to us. When we told him, our friend just went in 2 seconds ago, he said no, you cannot go in. By that time we just wanted to grab our friend and leave. But since our friend was already inside, we could only wait. They wouldnt even allow us to step in to look for our friend. Im displeased by what happened. We finally managed to meet our friend again after waiting for twenty some minutes. No matter how cool or must see this place is, itll never get a dollar from us. We had to leave and will never return. Pretentious, unfriendly establishments like this should never be encouraged.
I grew up in NYC and I have never seen something like this before!! I called over the phone and spoke with a Sarah and asked her if we need to RSVP; she said no. I had guest from Europe and I decided to take them here. We showed up at the door and two guys said we need RSVP. So I called back and spoke with Sarah again and she said I need RSVP and the guys at the door can arrange that. I told this to the guys and they were very rude. They said they can’t help me and they cannot take us in meanwhile everyone else is going in. This is NYC!!! We shouldn’t have been treated this way. The guys were so rude mean and talked down to me. I have never been treated like this anywhere and this was overwhelmingly embarrassing. Did we not show enough legs and cleavage ??? I guess we didn’t fit the criteria of the customers. This tells me a lot about this place!! Stay away!! Especially if you’re a tourist stay away! No one should be subjected to this type of treatment. I shouldn’t be shut down and turned away. And if I am being turned away, there is a certain dialogue and demeanor to it! Not degrading people like this!!
We checked into the hotel and the front desk told us that the concierge could put us on the list to get into the Rose Bar. After a certain time in the evening you need to be on the list to gain entry. The concierge confirmed our entry on the list for four and we went about our day.We were the first of our party to arrive and we walked up to the curtain where there was a bouncer standing there with a list. I gave him my last name and he scanned the list and then told us that we were not on the list. I said we are guests of the hotel and the concierge put us on the list. He got rude and said well you arent on the list. So, I said ok well I am going to go talk to the concierge and ask them. He then changed his tune and said Im going to let you in but, next time make sure you are on the list or stay at the hotel. I wasnt going to argue the point that we were staying at the hotel. By this time the rest of our party was standing behind us and we all walked in together and then they asked what the problem was. We told them and then we scanned around to see if there was anywhere to sit. There wasnt and the music was super loud and also the bartenders looked a little overwhelmed. The music wasnt bad it was just definitely too amplified for the room and not conducive to a conversation so, we decided to exit and go to the Jade Bar.The next morning we spoke to the same concierge who put us on the list and she stated that she was sure that we had been on the list, looked it up and we were. She also said that they have this issue often and that the bar is operated by a separate management company than the hotel. She apologized profusely for how they treated us and looked completely embarrassed. I wouldnt event try to get on the list when we stay at the hotel again because I would rather walk down the street and not deal with a door guy who feels powerful just because he has a clipboard/list in his hand. If he was looking for a tip so that we could get in that wasnt going to happen; especially not with his rude attitude.
My friends worst experience to have a drink in Rose bar. My friend was having a drink & he stepped out to use the restroom. On his way back one the gentleman who works by te door (entrance) who saw him going to use the restroom stopped him for a stamp & told him since he doesn’t have a stamp he can not go back to the bar to finish your drink & I have stil his credit card at the bar....but he told him to go to different entrance & wait on the line for around 20 min since there was a line & get stamp. He spoke to the Lady who works at the door & tried to explain his situation & she didn’t wanna even listen, she was rude, unprofessional, disrespectful. Can’t believe such a high class place hires rude people. P.S
Had another memorable night at the Rose Bar. We were happily nestled in the bar for the evening people-watching and drinking very generous pourings of Macallan single malt. We made new best friends, made the fashion statement of the evening (I was head-to-toe in holiday Ralph Lauren: Martini Bear sweater, Black Watch pants and bow tie) - so many positive comments - made me drink more and more scotch. The bartender (whose name Id neglected to secure) earns bartender of the year from me; an asset to the Rose Bar. To top things off, we were told that we would be granted access behind the coveted velvet curtains. Funny, I really dig the vibe of the small upfront bar that I may be just as happy sitting there. Either way, no trip to NYC is complete without visiting this super watering hole in Gramercy Park.
The staff were completely inattentive, especially the bartender, who was rarely at the bar. When I did manage to find staff members, they repeatedly failed to pass on my order. The order was inevitably incomplete when it finally arrived. It wasnt a cold day, but they were burning wood anyway, trying to hang onto a perception of ambiance thats as outdated as their artwork around the room.
The bar/lounge areas are great! The service is awful! Only because of service there is no desire to come back to that place... I had multiple experiences with bad service over there and thought that it might be due to a particular waitress, but as it turned out it is not... the attitude of the waiting staff should be definitely changed !
I was turned away from the entrance because I was with a male friend and they refused to let two men in together. Oddly enough, the black doorman then proceeded to allow two black men in together and proceeded to tell me there is nothing I could do to get in the club. I informed them my girlfriend was coming and she would go in with me to which they responded she didnt come with me so Im not getting in. This is reverse racism at its finest.
Reading everyones reviews is spot on. BOUNCERS and manager needs to be fired/replaced. I am a mid thirties ED physician. I went there at around 7:30 with my wife and two friends for drinks last Friday evening. At 10pm we went to use the hotel restroom as they dont have one in the bar. Upon returning in 3 minutes, I was told that I was not allowed to reenter the bar. They told me that I for sure did not just leave to use the bathroom. My wife and friends were still inside. They wanted me to prove it. I asked them if they could simply walk 20 feet inside and I will show them my table as I left my phone with my wife and could not text her to come out. They refused. My wife and friend got tired of waiting and eventually came out and they threatened to call the cops if we didnt close our tab before we left. We got the last round dropped and didnt tip (sorry for the waitress). But what a jackass establishment.
I sat at the bar with a friend and drank, and then I went out to the bar outside and sat there for an hour, then tried to come in again and told me to ask for a stamp. I asked the girl several times and she ignored me and asked me to go. I was very sad about my behavior, The setai miami hotel Versace hotel will not go there again, and post it to all my friends!!!!!!!!!

2019-09-08Nice cozy place with really strong drinks. They have live jazz some nights till 9 and then it turns into a dance club. Music is great and the place gets full but not elbow jabbing jammed like other clubs. Perfect high end spot for a date, and a dance or lounge on the side at one of the tables.

2018-10-02Terrible place. Avoid it at all cost.I went with there with 2 friends. We had drinks. Service was slow, but fine at the beginning. At some point server decided that we left (I was still at the table waiting for our drinks) and took candle from our table. I asked him what was the problem the reply was I have to leave the place. No explanation. He took my hand and walked my out, my purse and umbrella were still inside. We were still waiting for drinks. Outside They asked us to pay the bill, charged us for last round of drinks (we never got them) and 20% tip. I asked for a manager. There were no manager. Tip was about 80$. I will talk to my bank.Terrible service and management. I should have called a cops.

2019-04-02Nice cocktails, and a lot of cool, funky decor and paintings or photos. Otherwise the place leaves much to be desired... the ridiculous line to get in while there is plenty of space inside... the music... spent about 45 minutes to an hour here and had no desire to stay... To fancy for their own good...

2020-10-13Friendly bartenders and nice decor, seating is comfortable but oddly situated once the club atmosphere sets in since there isnt really any area spacious enough to dance, paid 20 bucks each for two of the worst whiskey sours Ive ever had.

2019-11-20Always a great spot when its cold outside, great atmosphere and good drinks. A little pricey but I can see the value in it.Service was not the best as the poor waiter had to take care of the whole place by herself during our visit.

2018-06-17Wish I would’ve read the reviews before showing up at this establishment. We’re from Montreal and heard this used to be the cool spot to go ( relatively still is happening) and thought we’d check it out since we had friends already partying inside. We showed up, two really well dressed couples and were told very abruptly by the woman at the door that without a reservation we can’t go in but can have access to the bar before the entry. We agreed since we were already there but when we entered the vibe was very boring and there was only 2-3 other people there and could clearly see from the other back door being opened how much cooler the Inside looked. The place wasn’t even packed so my friends boyfriend went back out to ask if there’s anyway we can have access very politely to find out they didn’t want to let us in because of the way he was dressed. The two people at the door were very rude afterwards. My friends are bloggers and are stylish AF. They clearly are selective about the faces the like and don’t and I didn’t understand the sudden attitude. We were ready to have a fun night and spend money in their establishment. Upon walking out and passing by the bouncer outside he said out loud“ Go on, get outta here” as if we were not welcome. DUDE YOU ARE SO RUDE! WHO THE FK SAYS THAT? I pretended not to hear because I didn’t think it was worth starting an argument over. After reading all these reviews it makes sense. Maybe you guys at rose bar don’t care about having people flock to your establishment but keep hiring staff who have a terrible attitude like this and I doubt your place is going to be a destination on peoples list. So many cool spots in NYC to compete with. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone.

2013-03-17What a great place for a quick drink! Rose Bar has been around for ages and is still a nice place to grab drinks with friends. Cocktails are inventive and tasty. Service is pleasant and attentive. The atmosphere is dark, warm, and enjoyable. A nice option for cocktails in Gramercy.

2018-11-06Had an amazing time at Saturday night for girls night out. Deja at the door was awesome! The music is a perfect mix of 00s hip hop and current. The vibe is ideal and it was not too crowded. Highly recommend for a night out!

2019-03-24Exclusive fancy place... very nice if you don’t mind the pretentious service and snobby attitude of the bouncer. Very New York taking away half full drinks, but don’t complain about it otherwise they will bring you an empty glass... probably not yours...but who cares! They took away the pool table so don’t trust the pictures.

2018-05-06Two nicely dressed black women... we were turned away. The door guy said we looked gorgeous but it was VIP only plus already at capacity. We stuck around a bit .... the next group of white girls (not VIP) got in after chatting with the door guy, while we were still standing there ... 🙄
